The Pinnacles Desert

Scenic desert area featuring numerous limestone pillars, plus observation decks & parking bays.

Fabulous place to visit, the discovery centre has heaps of interesting information to learn about the pinnacles before actually going to look at them. There is a walking trail around them or you can follow the road around bearing in mind it’s a dirt road all around them but well maintained so 4wd not necessary. There are a lot more of them than you expect from various YouTube blogs you may have seen and all shapes and sizes, worth a visit if you’re in the area.
Beautiful sunset and skyline. Totally recommend people to visit during the hours of sunset. No issue driving a 2WD and there are quite a lot of other drivers there as well if you are unsure. Sky full of stars. Beautiful night and interesting drive in/out.
The Pinnacles Desert is breathtakingly beautiful! The unique limestone pillars rising from the sand are like nothing I've ever seen before. It's like walking on another planet. The early morning or late afternoon visits are best to avoid the heat and crowds. The scenery is perfect for photography, and the surrounding landscape is equally stunning. A must-visit when in Western Australia!
We visited the Pinnacles Desert during our trip to Western Australia and it was stunning. The unique limestone pillars and golden sand made the whole place feel unreal. We went around sunset, and the colors were beautiful. It was easy to explore, even with kids, and we took lots of great photos. A short but unforgettable stop. highly recommended!
What a great place. I was impressed even though I was negative about seeing them. The park has put in a great drive around and plenty of stop offs to view and take photos. Well worth a visit.
This is one of the must see places if you visiting Perth. An important tourist destination, about 2 - 3 hours from Perth downtown. As you vast dry lands by the ocean, the landscape changes dramatically and you start seeing thousands of limestone pilars / mounds formed by the vagaries of weather, wind & rain. We also got to enjoy packed dinner in the midst of sand dunes and watch stars with a portable telescope. We took an arranged day trip from one of the popular tour operators who picked & dropped us back at our Hotel. Though, we found the tour package little pricy, it was worth it given it was guided and we needn't have to drive.
One of the wonders of the world hidden in Western Australia just 2 hours drive from Perth. Beauty cannot be described in words. A must visit site for anyone visiting Western Australia.
Must visit spot while visiting WA. Around 200 KMs from Perth this place offers some stunning views. If you have your own vehicle you can explore pinnacle drive, easy than walking 😊. Should stop by Desert view and enjoy the mesmerising view of the desert. Good Drive. If you are taking your electric vehicle nothing to worry you can stop at Lancelin enroute and get your vehicle charged. Happy Exploring. 😊
Lobster Shack Cervantes WA

Seafood restaurant
Beach pavillion
Breezy, colorful setting with timber decor & outdoor tables doling out lunchtime seafood meals.
Slide 1 of 8
I read the reviews and wasn’t sure how this place would be. Boy was I pleasantly surprised! It was one of the best seafood platters and mussels that I have ever had. The calamari and fish were perfectly cooked. The lobster is fresh and very tasty! The atmosphere and view are just indescribable. We were also very happy that they had the bulmers cider to just top off the perfect lunch. Must do if in the area!
Had the fish and chips and the lobster roll. The fish and chips were greasy and slightly over fried. They used Spanish mackerel, which is already an oily fish in their fish and chips, so it gave a greasy aftertaste. On the bright side, the lobster roll had generous amounts of lobster. It was sweet and tasted fresh. It was value for money in my opinion. They were also awfully generous with their chips.
Given the price point and that we were by the sea, I’d have expected the seafood to be fresher…. Oysters were really mid and I didn’t feel the sense of enjoyment from slurping it. It was rather fishy. Lobster filling was relatively generous. Chowder was my favourite.
The seafood platter that was upgraded by $30 so we had 2 halves of a lobster cost $166 but it was well worth it. Fresh, excellent condiments, great non greasy deep fried and sour octopus all went well together. Accompanied by a bottle of good white wine and looking out onto the ocean makes this a beautiful experience. I didn’t know I needed this in my bucket list!😀
Fish and chips were really greasy and the chips were limp and soggy and cold. Lobster in the lobster roll was generous but dry which is such a shame. Ham and cheese toaster was absolutely soaking in butter. It was dripping in oil and so salty. Omg. It was inedible to me. We went at about 2pm and the food took about 45 minutes to arrive. It is a nice place for a meal with the patio overlooking the ocean which was beautiful and the saving grace. But the food really isn't for me.
So, this was my second visit to Lobster Shack. I was much surprised to see all add on verandahs full of happy guests . I only dropped one star as there was no one to meet and greet and offer a table and all serving staff were concerned to main tasks : to run the food and take away the dirty plates . I have worked in hospitality in 3 different countries and continents and was an assistant manager and acting manager of a bit smaller venue. I do know all challenges of running such a busy venue but I still believe an extra staff , a supper visor is needed at the gates to meet , greet , offer a table and explain how things work . To be honest for an average European tourist who can afford to get to Cervantes and pay 200 Aud for a quick meal, it is a very complicated : we are used for table service, when a hostess meets us , checkes whether we have a booking or not , offers a table if available, offers some drinks, introduces the waiter and so on and so forth . I had to walk to the till to find out the price of Lobster and what sizes are available ,no any visuals of the served items and how they are served just in gramms. How can I know how big or small is a half of mid size Lobster that weights about 300 grams ? Also , if any manager or owner reads this : please offer half size of your crowded soup . Full portion is way too much . I would prefer to pay abit less and than order something else. By the way my close friends who visited me in Perth and I were amazed how generous was the octopus salad portion !
The lobster tour and the sea lion tour were really good. Highly recommend. Staff went that extra mile to make sure we had a great time. Having your table and food booked as part of the lobster tour was also very convenient as the line for food at lunch is often very long.
Neat place to get your seafood fix. Friendly staff. Italian manager was very sweet...tell her buongiorno for me! When you arrive. Find a table and get the number (on the bucket), line up to order food, pay at the counter. Continue down the line for your drink order. Self service water, hot water also available. Recommend the chowder, bread was delicious. Lobster meat in roll slightly tough and dry. Oysters both cooked (with bacon) and raw were yummy. Protip: dip your lobster roll into clam chowder
Lake Thetis

Lake
Nature & Parks
Unique saline lake featuring prehistoric rock-like structures constructed by microorganisms.
Slide 1 of 8
It’s beautiful! So tranquil! There’s benches and tables for eating and be sit by the water. There’s a nice gentle path that’s all paved from the parking all the way around to the side of the lake . Great for wheelchairs or walkers - or prams. If you walk really quietly from the car park, the birds may even be by the side of the lake. We can see them better. If you’re noisy, you better get your camera out before you get down there because they’ll be flying out to the middle of the lake!
Came here to check out the stromatolites and the wildlife. Stromatolites here looked Abit different from those at Mandurah, but good that they have write-ups explaining how these things formed millions of years ago. Plus, more information about the formation of this unique saline lake, and the wildlife you can expect to see here. Round lake walk takes approximately 30 minutes. Boardwalk + trail.
As a marine biologist it's my live long dream to see stromatolites. And finally after years and years of waiting and planning. I got to feast them with my eyes. They are awesome. We owe our entire existence to them. (Sort of... Hehe) It's so awe inspiring to see this prehistoric beings that existed with the very beginning of "life" on earth. But behold... They look smaller than I imagine... But still a good experience. Good facilities as well. But this place should be guarded 24/7 to preserve it. Heheheh
Not everyone's cup of tea. Geology enthusiasts will find this place exciting. The lake with the stromatolite deposits is unique.
A beautiful place to enjoy walk surrounding the river. Great little walk to the river front about 300m kids will love this walk. Don’t miss to locate the purple colour on lake and match with the description. Plentiful parking area.
If you can appreciate the visible evolution and the beauty of nature then you will enjoy this place. If you don't, then I would expect you to be bored and this attraction is more about the history of the stromatolites than anything else. It is quite a lovely spot and an easy walking trail that won't take you longer than an hour. We went around mid-January and were the only ones there during our time. There is a boardwalk that leads to an information section in case you don't want to walk through the bush. You are not able to swim in this lake which is mentioned by the signs due to the fragile nature of the stromatolites. Easy enough to find, only 5 minute detour from highway and ample sealed parking available.
Stromatolites and their close cousins, thrombolites are living fossils that have been producing oxygen for about 3.5 billion years. This means that when you’re looking at these rock-like structures you’re essentially stepping back in time and seeing at how life was billions of years ago. The is what you came here to look for
Great place to visit. It's a nice walk around the lake. It's a shame the so many stromatolites have been damaged by people. Good for checking out the wild life too

This place is incredibly beautiful all round. If you visit in the second half of the year there’s a beautiful white powdery sand beach with the most beautiful bay for swimming very wide and great for some laps. If you’re there in the first half of the year you may find quite a bit of seaweed but the water is still clear for swimming. It’s an absolutely gorgeous walk from where the parking and amenities are all the way round to the north. If you sit on the beach, you’ll find that there’s parrots and finches and wagtails. All very friendly ! Perfectly kept toilets, parking for motorhomes as well as cars and large vehicles and toilets, including for the disabled.
It was a small but decent bay not built with much facilities. The beach was quite clean at first sight. The public toilet next to the beach had no water supply during my visit due to potential bee hazards.
Hangover Bay is a fantastic place for a stopover, with well-maintained toilets and BBQ areas that make for a comfortable visit. Plenty of space for caravans, so parking isn’t an issue. Be mindful if visiting in summer—it gets super windy! Also, note that camping isn’t allowed. One of the highlights? The marine life! I’ve spotted seals here, along with plenty of other fascinating creatures in the waters. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area!
🌅 Experience: A peaceful and scenic coastal spot inside Nambung National Park — perfect for swimming, snorkelling, or just relaxing by the beach. The water is crystal clear, the sand is soft, and the bay is usually calm, making it ideal for families or anyone seeking a quiet ocean escape. 🚗 Access & Facilities: Easily accessible by car with good sealed roads. There’s a car park, toilets, and picnic tables nearby. No shops or cafes on site, so bring food and drinks with you. Entry to the national park requires a small fee. 🛡️ Safety: Generally very safe, with gentle waves and shallow areas. Always check wind and weather conditions before swimming, and watch for strong sun — bring shade and sunscreen. 🚶‍♂️ Walkability: Short, easy walks from the car park to the beach and along the coastline. Great spot for a calm seaside stroll or watching the sunset. 🎯 Nearby Activities: Close to the Pinnacles Desert, Cervantes, and Lake Thetis — all worth visiting the same day. Perfect stop on a Perth–Cervantes road trip. 📝 Summary: A hidden gem on WA’s Coral Coast — clean, calm, and incredibly beautiful. Ideal for a swim, picnic, or peaceful beach day away from the crowds. 🌊☀️🐚
Beautiful Bay with seating public toilets and BBQ facilities. The water looks amazing although there seems to be a lot of seaweed up and down the WA coast at the moment. Gets windy so be prepared. Plenty of parking for small and long vehicles including trailers plus a 4WD track as well to the far left (ocean facing). Good signage and local info for flora and fauna.
Just a short drive from the highway on a sealed road takes you to a quiet beach with toilets, bbqs & parking. The beach is a couple of hundred metres long, nice sand & seems quiet sheltered inside a reef. Lots of seaweed on shoreline & in the water, convinced us not to swim there. Lovely spot to chill out, have a bbq or a nap on the beach.
We drove in by car on the beach as we are not sure whether is safe to walk as the place seems empty when we were there, and with sign of possible snake in the bush, we drive direct to the beach! Big mistake, my car was stuck in the soft sand, thanks God our car was small enough to push out. Crazy experience for us as is about sunset and we need to rush back to city since no road lighting most of the time during the 2 hours drive back to city. But place seem untouched! Amazingly clean and nice to spend time but can be a bit windy where sand can blow toward your face.
So calm and flat. After visiting the Pinnacles, pulled into hangover bay just across the road. Equipped with picnic tables that also catered for wheelchair to pull up to the table, and equipped with BBQs, we hand a picnic lunch. Long drop toilets, wheelchair accessible toilet. Took a stroll along this quite flat beach. Lots of seaweed when we were there but still very beautiful.

Drive right up to the beach for a peaceful lookout. Great to watch the sunset.
Beautiful beach, somewhat on the windy side. Blue Bottles "Portuguese Man o War" washed up on the beach, glad we had water shoes. Seaweed collects in some areas, but did find some decent swimming areas.
Thirsty Point Lookout is a hidden gem that truly lives up to its name - offering a thirst-quenching view of the turquoise waters and stunning coastal landscape. If you're looking for a place to unwind, breathe in the fresh sea air, and witness a breathtaking sunset, this lookout is a must-visit. 2nd time visit. Still the same and beautiful, peaceful and full of joy. Couldn't see the sunset this time but enjoyed the I AM ALONE situation 😂 The panoramic views are simply stunning. From the vantage point, you're treated to endless vistas of the Indian Ocean, pristine beaches, and the unique rock formations that characterize the coastline. It's the perfect spot for photographers, nature lovers, and anyone who appreciates a good view.
Dropped in for a "captain cook, top spot, would be a great area to spend a coupla days
We visited in a weekday evening and there were already a few cars parked there when we arrived. Unsurprisingly we were not the only ones who had the idea to sit at this beautiful beach to catch the sunset. There are no benches for people to sit so many people just sat in the sand or stayed in their cars.
Amazing spot for a stop off and swim! The water here is crystal clear, and the colour lives up to the name of "The Turquoise Coast" There is one sheltered picnic bench in the car park, so you may have a fight for it! There is also a shower/water fountain/pet bowl in the car park area.
A great place to stop by on the way to Geraldton-Kalbari. Also can be visited for amazing sunset view at seashore after visiting Pinnacles. Kids will love to swim. Clear shallow water perfect for kids swimming. Can park close to the view point. A walk in the evening was amazing on the shore.
Beautiful spot for swimming, snorkeling, sunset watching or just relaxing.

Loved it. Wow. We've seen so many things on our travels. Simply amazing. Flowers just starting to come out. Don't need anything special, no 4wds needed. You can drive around the marked path and pull over to explore as needed in your own time. Get amongst them, but respect them. Fascinating. Again, open to all and sundry. Parks pass got us in, or $17 if not. The Visitor centre is very interesting as well with plenty of info. Stuff that you wouldn't even consider.
Great experience, staff were very helpful. We had paid for a park pass in the pilbra but never got a chance to print it off. We were able to print the park pass at the visitor centre so it could be placed on our vehicle to travel around the park. Excellent facilities and well planned routes to get a great experience.
The Pinnacles are amazing. Highly recommend if you drive around. Pull up at the stops get out of your car and explore around the rocks.
Spectacular visitors centre showcasing 3000yo monoliths. Very peaceful, spiritual place. The VC needs a ranger or two in the park to stop the idiot tourists, who even tho they were told not to on park entry, from climbing on the pinnacles.
Wonderful experience! I invite you all to come and enjoy these spaces, learn the origin, theories that exist about how the Pinnacles were formed. The detail of being able to take a Halluciba Coin to Pinnacles is simply great!
A good experience dependent upon your own expectations.
An absolutely amazing geological feature, to think it's only been exposed for just over 250 yrs. The stories the Pinnacles could tell, and there are 1000s of them, many still buried. I would love to know the Dreamtime story of them.
Loved the Pinnacles drive and the information in the centre. The centre is a bit of a walk from the carpark especially if you've got a disability or are elderly. The souvenirs are priced at the high end of the range.

Emu Downs Wind Farm Lookout Point is a lovely spot to stop by if you're in the area. The sight of the windmills is quite impressive, and it offers a great opportunity to capture some beautiful photos with the windmills in the background. It's a peaceful place to take a break and enjoy the views. However, there's not much else in terms of facilities, so it's more of a quick stop than a destination. Overall, worth a visit if you appreciate wind farms and want to get some unique photos!
Best windfarm lookout in Australia. Not biased….
We were there on Jun 1st, 2016. Worth stop a while. Beautiful scenery.
What a beautiful tourist attraction.
(Translated by Google) I had no idea that such an eco-friendly facility existed in a place like this. Although I took a wrong turn and stumbled upon it, I was able to have a very good opportunity.
