We did the Tully Sugar Mill tour with our sons. Awesome tour of the entire processing facility so you can see how sugar cane is turned into the final product - sugar. Our boys found it very interesting and educational we did too. So good how close and hands on the tour is full access which is quite unusual for a processing plant. This is the only sugar mill in Australia that does tours. Great family experience
What an amazing and informative place. Our children absolutely delighted in being able to get up close and personal with the process of turning cane into sugar. Could not recommend this highly enough, very safe and very informative. I am sure the children will remember there tour for many years to come!
9 volunteers from the Babinda Visitor Information Centre were taken on a Mill Tour with Judy. Our experience was superb. Judy’s knowledge and ability to share this with us was totally enjoyable. Several of our group were cane farmers at one stage of their lives, some for a very long time, and they too came away with new knowledge and an awe of the entire process. Tully Mill is to be commended for continuing this Tour as visitors to our Centre are delighted to know they can experience this as well. Our tour has truly enabled us to further share and recommend your Tours. Thank you for the experience!
Judy did a great tour. She retains so much knowledge and information with the tour. Would’ve like to go upstairs however understand with WHS standards. Loved seeing the fugals where my dad worked back in 1995, and the boilers where my brother did maintenance work. Will definitely come back again.
What a great experience, Judy our guide was amazing, with her knowledge and her fun and humor was so good. It is a must to see for anyone interested in the sugar processing, from raw cane stems being transferred to pure raw sugar in a very short time.
Excellent Tour. Judy was knowledge and entertaining. Great to see a factory tour is still happening here. Tremendous education for young and old.
Had a great tour hosted by Judy. We learnt a great deal about the process of how they process sugar. Loved the little sample too.
Thanks Eirin for a fabulous tour of the mill. We got to see, smell, taste and hear all about Tully Sugar. Just loved the enthusiasm of your presentation and the informative presentation. Just wonderful and would recommend people stop in and do it.

A great place to stop if you're on the "big things" tour of Australia 🇦🇺 In 1950 the amount of rain that fell in Tully was 7.9 metres. The gumboot reflects the 7.9 metre rainfall they had in Tully during 1950. That's over 26 feet of rain in one year. Epic view from the top, great bakery across the street and toilets nearby. Do it!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Quirky Icon with Great Views The Golden Gumboot is a fun Tully landmark with lovely views over the main street and the Tully Sugar Mill. I always enjoy seeing the mill’s towering stacks and breathing in the sweet scent of the cane – a true Far North Queensland experience!
Turned off the highway to get a picture with another of Australia's Big Things and was elated to find out you can climb to the top!? With cool pictures and details about the history on the way up 🙂 Good bathrooms and a water fountain close bye, a great stop and a beautiful town!
Worth a visit, call through Tully and watch the sugar cane mill in action and the big gumboot at the wettest place in Oz. Average of 4 metres of rain each year.
Another big something to visit. There is a spiral staircase to the top viewing platform which affords a good view over the sugar refinery and the town of Tully
A novelty visit but still worth it. The boot could do with some tlc and a clean as it looks a little forlorne inside
The golden gunboat is a local landmark symbolising the historic rainfall event when the town had 7.9 metres of rain for the year
Great place to visit. Also are able to go inside and climb the stairs to the very top. Sugar factory across from it too

Absolutely stunning views throughout the park
This is quite a pleasant drive if you are in the area with some time to kill. It is just over 50kms from Tully to the gates of the power station, where you need to turn around and head back to Tully. It is not a circular drive but an out and back drive. There are a couple of stops along the way to check out the Tully river and if your lucky you might see some white water rafters. They can be entertaining to watch.
Beautiful spot on river. Could do with more lookout points or areas to picnic.
Stunning view. The road gets a little rough towards the end and it's one way. But very cool views. There's also toilets at the parking area
Tully Gorge is incredible — wild, green, and full of energy. The views along the road are spectacular, and the sheer scale of the gorge takes your breath away. I loved hearing the roar of the river below and spotting waterfalls after rain. A must-see if you’re exploring the Wet Tropics region.
Great spot to visit with numerous waterfalls dotted along the river when we were there. Some of the signage could be improved and the tracks from the road down to the river haven’t been maintained well but they are safe and easy to navigate.
Tullu gorge national park 🏞️ just wow wow wow❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Lightly hit a cassowary with my car but it stood up again and ran away so all good. Just be careful on the road. I highly recommend the white water rafting, it was so much fun :D

Kurramine horseriding was a great experience. Chrissy is super friendly, horses were energetic and obedient brumbies. We had the whole beach to ourselves, not another soul in sight.
Awesome day for everyone!.. Top quality horses, not a "nag" among them.. Professionally run by a horse riding instructor so even the 10yr old girls I took with Zero experience had the BEST day!!. Amazing scenery and rainforest. Also have the farm experience where the kids get to pat cows and hold a snake.. I cant reccomend this enough!.. Best "thing to do in Mission Beach" Seriously.. go do this!!
I went riding last week with a friend from WA who didn’t have any experience. It was the highlight of her visit to Queensland and was very affordable considering the time we spent there and level of service that was provided. I cannot thank Amy enough, she clearly loves what she does and went above and beyond to make sure we enjoyed our afternoon. The program was very well spaced between getting to know the horses, exploring the rainforest track and having opportunities to meet some of the other animals on the property. She took extra consideration to go at a slow pace and make sure my friend felt comfortable and has now given her a newfound love for riding. The horses here are obviously well looked after and everything is very genuine and personalised so I will definitely be recommending her to any friends who visit and would love to go back again myself. It was a very unique experience and her one of a kind service just made it all the more memorable. Thank you very much, it was by far our favourite part of the trip and something my friend will never forget.
Really personal experience. Loved the ride going through the rainforest and around the farm. Perfect tour for someone who wants to get in touch with nature
What a fabulous place situated in the lush bush around Tully. Super friendly people and beautiful horses...you won't be dissapointed. Ron Darlington
