It’s all about the smiles this was Hoys makes happen. The service range and prices are very reasonable would recommend anyone to shop or buy from here and support local. Hiring is so easy and simple.
Great experience as usual. The staff were extremely helpful and went above the basic service to make sure our (own) gear was in good shape for the start of our skiing holiday. Have always found the service very personalised at the DP store and the staff very friendly.
Do not use the Dinner Plain store Within minutes of hiring equipment for 5 people we walked across the roundabout to get the car for collecting the gear, unfortunately one of the children was sick. I tried to contact the store to no avail. I made contact with the Harrietville store, they confirmed Dinner Plain Hoys phones were not working. I explained that one of the kids are sick and we wouldn’t be able to collect the gear. We agreed to collecting the items the next day so we could ski and toboggan (if she was well enough). Assured that a credit would be there for us. While being fitted this child didn’t want to be fitted and sat there looking very hot and bothered in the store. I had intentions of returning to pick up the gear and have her fitted separately. It was this child’s birthday trip and she wasn’t well enough for skiing or tobogganing. The store manager then informed me I forfeit over $550.00 for everyone’s ski hire because I’ve changed my mind and they took the time to fit us. That was for one day hire. The store manager also felt it acceptable to request that I left one child unwell whose birthday trip it was and entertain the others. This store also felt it appropriate to ask for a medical certificate for a minor?????. This is their store policy to request medical certificates from a doctor. Aparrently you put a vomiting child in the car and drive to Hotham, as the parent you are not responsible enough to care for a child or make a decision in their best interests or health and safety. So be aware if you are considering hiring or using this company. Do not fall ill, suffer an injury etc they will keep your money. The reason my money was kept is because they fitted us, they justified this as a fitting fee. If we had enjoyed the day skiing we were staying from the 27th - 3rd, fitted on the 28th, and would have used the items from the 30th - 3rd we would have hired the equipment for the duration. 5 days of hiring. Therefor I chose not to support a business that take a cheap stab for profit. Disregard the welfare and wellbeing of their potential return customers. Contacted Harrietville store again explained what happened, offered a refund on the 1st of August was to receive an email confirming this. Still to no avail. Oh I was also charged to hire toboggans from them even though they were free with the accomodation because I was unaware you needed to get them from reception and hoys are a seperate company??????? And they will not refund. All in all providing the most informed review so as others don’t loose their money and waste it hiring from this company.
We went in to rent out ski boards on the 27/07/2024 at 10:50am. We spent few minutes looking for the gear and the male staff there was very rude and racist, he wanted us out of the shop. He really needs training on how to talk to people.
Helpful, friendly team. Great prices for such a remote area, half expected a price gouge due to a monopoly on supplies but everything was perfectly reasonable. Loved seeing the hand crafted and local products too.
Well set up for young family, beginner or a good place to catch the snow.
Over priced and poor selection of gear. They advertise that they have a good variety but this is not true for this store. Staff did not bother explaining how to use the gear either. Obviously they are more interested in getting you in and out rather than giving a good experience.
Very efficient and know their stuff. Personalised service when it came to fitting. Bonus was that they have a shop on the mountain as well if something like a strap fails you can swap the equipment quickly without eating into your time on the slopes.

My husband & I both had a 90 minute massage ( 1 remedial 1 relaxation) With Amy . 6/6/25 We both have had plenty of massages before , this massage was incredible (and I don’t say that lightly ) Was $$$ but in hindsight absolutely worth the splurge and we both raved about the different yet amazing massages . Apparently was her first day ! She’s a keeper I literally floated out Reception staff lovely too . . ( Disappointed at the outdoor onsen though . Seemed very blah . No atmosphere or even peaceful music and kept getting bumped into by the creepy crawlie pool cleaner, got out after 15 mins)
Would like to enjoy the onsen and sauna, but the place was terrible and messy… very disappointed. And don’t feel like that’s hot spring water? Feel like boiled hot water
I would like to thank the Onsen Staff and specifically Jasmine for the incredible service and massage I received last week. I had a one hour massage and wish I had booked longer. It was honestly one of the best I have ever had. I now have movement in areas of my back that have been tense for years. Thank you Jasmine! I look forward to returning. The facilities, cleanliness, presentation and professionalism was fantastic.
Amazing experience. The onsen was a great place to relax. Jazmin did an excellent job with a deep tissue massage that has left me feeling better than any other massage has. Overall very impressed with the place and I'll definitely be back
If you're around Dinner Plain, then definitely don't miss out this place. It a must in winter 🤟🏼
To pay $55 per person was ridiculous! The outside bath was lovely for my muscles, however they never clean it and whilst trying to relax saw clumps of hair, band aid, paper napkin and other rubbish near my head outside the rocks. People had kids in there talking the entire time, someone took my fresh clean towel & the women's showers are so feral and need new grout and silicon. No one emptied the dirty water cups, so nothing to use to drink water. Enjoyed the muscle recovery but waaaaaaayyyyy too expensive to not have staff walking around cleaning every hour and update the facilities/bathrooms.
We have been coming for years! Every year we have looked forward to this bit of our trip. Aug 2025 the place was filthy. The showers have build up on the walls and floor and floor waste filled with hair. No moisturizer, no face towels. Towel bins filled with over 30 towels… none of the things you would expect for the price. Onsen is thick with Chlorine.
Both onsen and deep tissue massage with Meagan were good. But one thing to take into account is the onsen is unisex. Will definitely come back.
