We were here for the Christmas market, beautiful setting with plenty of shady areas , wonderful community feel with parking galore over two hundred and ninety stalls . It was the largest we had been to with a fantastic array of food stalls , crafts, unique food vans , to plants and statues and so much in the way of home made clothes to cheese stalls with a European feel. Absolutely delightful - a credit to what is a very small town.
If you want a nice relaxing Saturday morning drive amongst the Canola fields to find this gorgeous boutique town with a market that would easy triple the town population, take a drive. Bast range of varying stalls and a lot handmade or at least made in Australia, fresh organic fruits and veggies, we purchased a Pumpkin & Sage Sourdough which now I wish I had of bought 2! Something for everyone and prices range from $-$$$$ depending on what you are looking for. We didn’t queue up for the fresh wood fire pizza baked fresh in the community garden at the market but we definitely will next time!
Excellent Victorian Country Market. Held on the 2nd Saturday of the month. Over 250 stalls. Lots of variety & plenty of food & coffee stalls. Lovely way to spend a Saturday morning.
Visited Violet town market, which meets on the second Saturday each month. A wonderful experience with a large number of stalls to view. Excellent coffee from a mobile caravan. There is a cafe with a large indoor seating area . Great leathergoods, shoes, and all manner of other businesses to peruse. Truly a large market.
Lovely country market lots of home-made goodies. Great family day out, lovely park for kids to play in, face painting n plenty of yummy foods.
Very good market. Quite large and big range of stalls, food, wine, cheese and the usual. Early nice morning and spent too much at the market. :) Well worth the drive.
Fantastic market! Lots to look at and lots of food.. The hot jam dohnuts were amazing 😉 to say the least! Definitely recommended and we'll be back, this time we'll give ourselves abit more time as there's so much to look at.
Largest market I've been to. Plenty of food options (recommend Korean Van) and all other options. Not dog friendly

Amazing collection, one of the best I've seen! The owner, Maurie, is so knowledgeable and has some interesting stories to share about his collection of gems, minerals, and cars. We spent an hour and a half there but could have stayed longer!
Awe inspiring collection of gems & precious stones. The owner is a lovely man that is more than happy to give you a tour and explain the history of every piece. Loved it and will definitely come back for an even closer look.
Such an incredible collection! Maurie was so warm and attentive and you could tell he cares a lot about his craft. Can’t wait to drop by next time I’m in the area :)
Absolutely a must stop if you’re ever driving down the Hume or near by, Maurie is lovely and has so much knowledge and plenty of stories to share! I love the necklace I bought and I’ll 100% be back soon!!
I first went to The Rockery in Longwood a few years ago and was stunned by the huge variety and quantity of both specimens and items for sale. This was a big surprise in such a small town when I had not been expecting much at first. In addition, I found Maurie, the owner, is a man of great knowledge in many fields. Everything he has for sale or on exhibit is high quality and beautifully displayed. A shopper or visitor to the museum can ask anything and Maurie is happy to spend the time to give easily understood but also technical answers.
It's always an entertaining visit to see Maurie at The Rockery. A one of a kind gem and fossil collector who will keep you fascinated about the array of crystals, gem stones that are for sale, and on show. Lovely jewellery, vases, chess boards, decorative pieces, and relics to enjoy and buy. Reasonable prices and storytelling. It's worth the visit to appreciate this amazing, unique shop 💜 Longwood Victoria countryside just off Hume Highway, btw Violet Town & Avenel. Love my turitella & onyx marble pieces ❤️
It was fascinating and well displayed. Lots of interesting information. My 7 year old Grandson bought some wonderful treasures.
amazing little shop with so much to learn and see. super knowledgeable owner who was always keen to tell us more about the various minerals and rocks. worth the visit!!!!

An absolutely stunning property that, if you are ever in the area, you must visit. Opening dates are specific and so best to check on their website before making a trip. Great to see such historic significance properties being loved and able for the public to enjoy and explore its history.
Brandon, Lucy and the team at Noorilim Estate made our wedding stress free! They are so easy to work with and lovely down to earth people. Nothing was a problem! We thank them so much for their hard work. The meals were beautiful. They even worked out with the catering staff to prepare a plate when a couple of our guests had to leave early to plate up a meal for them each! The grounds looked spectacular. The autumn colours looked amazing! The set up and pack up was easy. Thank you again so much Brandon, Lucy and the team for making our day perfect!
Absolutely spectacular setting for our wedding over the weekend. Brandon & Lucy were so fantastic to deal with & nothing was too much trouble for them! Many guests commented how beautiful the property was & our photographer was so excited to photograph the beautiful building & gardens! Highly recommended!!
A magnificent and beautifully maintained country house and garden; such a surprise to find a grand mansion of this quality surviving in Victoria. We appreciated and enjoyed Brandon's relaxed style and informative tour. Our only regret was not bringing a picnic lunch with us to enjoy by the lake!
Today we visited Noorilim Estate and were given a warm welcome by the managers / owners. There were only four in our party so was great to be able to chat with our guide Brandon. The property has a gracious 2km gum lined drive which sets the scene for the beautiful vistas of the house and garden. Brandon showed us the garden first and then we went inside to inspect the mansion. There are beautiful tiles in the entrance and then you see the magnificent staircase. We loved looking around the house at the furnishings, art work etc.
A most interesting pastoral property with friendly owners offering a fascinating tour of the house which has been sensitively restored. The gardens are extensive and shady. On ongoing project with much potential for receptions and other hospitality
So when I posted my original dissatisfied post i was not wanting to involve my daughter, but now it seems Noorilam have not only cancelled their wedding, they have cancelled all future weddings.
A magnificent place for Weddings. The lakes and gardens are beautiful.
