I couldn't experience it at all from near, as it was closed. And very irritated because we travelled for more than 200kms, seeing that it shows "open" on google!!!!! Please mention it on Google it's under construction!
It's an amazing, must-see place. If you're history lover, then you're in the right place. This is almost 2000 years old fortress and one of the old civilizations. It was conquered by Muslims ☪️ Hazrat Ali (RA) was holding the flag, and he fought bravely against the Jewish army. I wish it was possible to live here 🤩 Visit only during the daylight, and you might need permission to visit this area. Worth the travel 🏰❤️
History- Battle of Khaybar  was fought in early 628 CE (7 AH) between the early Muslims, led by Muhammad, and the Arabian Jews living in Khaybar, an oasis located 150 kilometres (93 mi) from the city of Medina. Jewish tribes had arrived in the Hejaz in the wake of the Jewish–Roman wars.According to Islamic sources, the Jews at Khaybar had barricaded themselves in forts after breaching an agreement with the Muslims, following which Muhammad led an army to capture the oasis. The terms of surrender included the evacuation of the Jews of Khaybar from the area and the surrender of their wealth, in exchange for a cease of warfare by Muslims and not hurting any of the Jews. Beautiful location.........
Great experience keeping in view the history associated with this place. However it's maintained and the the fort is trying into ruins and majority is ruined. Need to have some sort of conservation before the whole place turns to flat ground. Really need conservation and maps, since everything is for imagination of the tourist and rarely few buildings are fully intact.
Currently the place is closed for public as per locals it is closed for maintenance as it will come under Al Ula heritage vission Qamus Fort was an ancient fortress in the Jewish stronghold of Khaybar oasis. Situated north of Medina, it was takenover by Muslim forces in the Battle of Khaybar. It is located on an elevated ridge, overlooking the old Khaybar. Before the rise of Islam, this fortress town had been inhabited by Jewish tribes; it fell to Muslim forces in 629 CE. al-Qamus was the name of one of the fortresses of al-Rabi ibn Abu al-Huqayq, Banu Qurayza situated near Khaybar. The fortress was attacked by Muslim forces and it fell to Muslim forces in 629/30 CE. As a result muslicm tasted the historical victory.
I tried to visit the historical old city and the fort, everything was closed by police and you can’t find a spot to take picture ! In any single spot where you can pass to the old city you will find a police car that will not allowed you to go in …. They told us that its going to be renewed soon and open for public to visit.
