Rooms are spacious, dogs allowed almost everywhere with their own sectioned odd space in the restaurant. Fee isn't too bed. Unsure if its usual (as we arrived early) but the hotel doesn't do any of the beds/ bowls that other places sometimes do, but that's just not important to us as we use his stuff anyway. The aircon was broken which, as the windows open and its late October in England, was okay but it probably wouldn't be in spring or summer. I find hotel rooms get stuffy quickly. Bed was large (King room) and comfy. Corridors are long and narrow so bear that in mind if visiting. The car park is large and easy to park in, the staff were helpful and friendly. We didn't use the spa but I did use the gym. Its modern with an excellent range of equipment but it was busy as they sell memberships, so got full quickly. Especially given restricted hours (06:30am opening in the week, 8am weekends). I firmly believe hotel gyms should be 24/7 for guests. I have rated the hotel a 3 as 3.5 wasn't an option. Improved breakfast selection and quality, gym opening, aircon etc all knock it from a 4 experience down slightly. But for the price point, if those things were improved or rectified this would score a 4 as decent value.

The location was perfect, with high standard of quality restaurants 5/10 minute walk from hotel, plus a good dog friendly pub a couple of minutes away. The staff were excellent, we had issues with the safe not working in our room (45) and they put our valuables in main safe. We also appreciated the late check out on the Monday giving us more time to explore the town and looking after our cases both pre and post checking in/out. Superb choice of eggs at breakfast, virtually every way catered for. We had no problem parking with spaces at front and rear, however if you arrive late it might be more difficult. The only slight issue was our room was quite dark and the small table/ledge housing the kettle & coffee machine made it difficult to see what you were doing. Attended a wellness retreat with a group of people, the day was lovely and sunny although this was in October, very fresh weather and it complemented the hotel so beautifully as the sunset was absolutely gorgeous 😍 About 15 mins drive from Cheltenham spa station, you drive into this serene estate that takes you round to the reception entrance. The staff are very welcoming and friendly. The hotel grounds is so pretty with meeting rooms, bar, restaurant, private dining room, a converted barn and outdoor seating area, a pool, sauna, steam room and jacuzzi, treatment rooms...though the spa facilities is a bit small. I couldn't use it at the time as it was maxed out with people. The dinner was so good! Well executed by the chef, thoroughly enjoyed the candle making session which can be organised as part of your package. Loads of grounds to walk about, trails etc The room was quite nice and huge, loved the fact that you can regulate the air conditioning otherwise it could become very stuffy quickly! My treatment got cut off short and I got chatting to another lady in the spa who said her's had been shortened by 15 minutes! I really tried to not let it taint the morning but you do really expect high quality when you're paying as much as we did and for me it wasn't there. There weren't enough seats in the spa area so people were having to share loungers, and there's not really enough room to comfortably go in the jacuzzi if other people are in there. Effectively you cannot use the pool (at least in winter and it's not part of/near the spa) - you have to walk about 150m outside around the hotel to get to the pool which was not warm enough for a winter spa morning, and also felt quite embarrassing walking around the hotel in our robes. We waited for at least 20 minutes for our coffee when we could have been using the spa, and it was cold when it arrived. Also at the lunch, our drinks came after our starters and mains despite asking two times, and the mains took over 45 minutes to arrive. The changing rooms were a bit of a joke as there was one shower (at one moment there was 8 of us in the changing room) and genuinely no room to change (I'm not even been dramatic, me and another woman just didn't know how to change in there as there were two stools and about two meter squared floor space). I ended up having to go to the disabled change and she went into the toilet. Only one hair dryer that stopped working when I tried it (it had worked for others though). This is less of a problem, but the lockers weren't working so we couldn't get in to retrieve our stuff - the lady came with a master key but just another thing that takes away from the general feeling of it being high quality. She also was about to leave another person's locker open when she unlocked it thinking it was mine, and my mum and I had to tell her she can't do that. She did then lock it but concerned me that could have happened. Treatment was pleasant but was light even though she asked my preferred pressure level and I asked for strong. The staff is friendly to change a new room. However, the room is still dirty and dusty. Furniture and equipment did not clean properly. They have a beautiful sink, but there’s no where to put anything, so you are balancing your toothbrush, toothpaste, shaving gear, deodorant all over the bathroom, which they annoyingly fill with cute nick nacks! It’s infuriating to actually use what is a beautiful “looking” but impractical bathroom. The sink plug won’t seal so you are constantly filling up the sink to shave, which is annoying and wasteful. To be honest, it’s a lovely looking hotel but the practicality’s of it have not been thought through. There are lots of other small but annoying details which are like this simply because the management want it to look nice, but have never thought I’ll stay in the room myself as a guest and test it all out. So in summary, a beautiful hotel, lovely staff, very very attractive throughout but for someone travelling, thoroughly annoying and impractical rooms. We have been to plenty of 'dog tolerant' hotels before but this was truly dog friendly, without it taking away from the experience of the stay (we were the only guests with one).

All communications from the hotel were clear and concise, self check-in was a breeze and everything worked seamlessly. Staff were welcoming and polite. I stayed in the Hillview room which was set-up as requested as a Twin. A light, bright room with lots of space, a comfortable sofa and chair to relax in and a big bathroom with separate shower and bath. The beds were very comfortable with a choice of pillows and nice quality linens. The bathroom towels were large, thick and fluffy (a rarity in most hotels these days it seems!). In the room there’s a kettle, cups and nice selection of teas and instant coffee from Clipper, a useful small drinks fridge with milk and bottle of mineral water. The communal areas were spotless. Beaumont House is a short walk from the town and just a few minutes from the excellent Bath Road shops, cafes and pubs. Highly recommended, will definitely stay again.

The first thing we notice was that the key coded door for security was on the latch hence anyone could walk in, we obtained the key from the key box on the wall, the door was very stiff to push to open, we were met by a very peculiar smell which we couldn't work out either dog or cooking fat, the room was shabby, because of the smell it didn't feel clean. We would have liked to have kept the window open, but being on the ground floor this wasn't possible because there were no security locks so again anyone could gain entry. Our big mistake was not reading the awful reviews this property seems to have. This place has a very weird vibe and for some reason we didn't feel safe. We will not be staying here again.

Have to say for a one nights stay without breakfast was £57 as I’m solo travelling. Their restaurant menu has ample choice. Definitely worth staying. But don’t expect the higher end boutique hotels in this hotel and I definitely recommend anyone staying here.

Google maps failed miserably and we ended up on a mystery tour of the one way system of Cheltenham. After eventually stumbling across the pub which is quite small (again no thanks to Google maps) we discovered that there were no spaces available in the on-street parking bays adjacent so I ended up parking on double yellows and later moved the car once a space became available, in fairness the description on booking.com did describe the parking as non- reservable but it does make things a bit of a pain. On arrival a very friendly young lady greeted us and led us up several flights of stairs to our room which rather strangely had no door handle on the outside? This made closing and locking the door when we later went out for a stroll in search of a meal a bit of a conundrum to say the least. The room itself was clean but not exactly what I'd describe as being "deluxe," the floor was very uneven (but then it is an old building) and the decor was basic and a little tired. The door between the small bathroom and the bedroom was a plastic concertina affair - a bit less than ideal really. In the bathroom as you'd expect there was toilet, a basin and a small shower cubicle and some toiletries and towels were provided. The double bed was clean and fairly comfortable, the rest of the furnishings were basic and there was no wardrobe, instead there was hanging space on a simple rail across an alcove. A kettle, mugs, coffee and tea were provided. After we'd looked around we went down into the pub for a pint and there was an extensive choice of good beers. The pub itself is a traditional old fashioned local, a "drinkers pub" you might say, like pubs used to be back in the day (a good thing) and it seemed popular with the locals. The location itself is within an easy five minute walk to lots of other traditional pubs and many fast food outlets. It's also perfect if you want to visit possibly the noisiest branch of Spoons in the UK which I would recommend you avoid at all costs unless you are under twenty and/or happen to like what the kids of today laughingly describe as "music." All in all our one night stay at the Bell was peaceful and the £90 price tag for the room does reflect the fact that the pub is in affluent and touristy Cheltenham. Would I visit again? For a few pints yes, but not for a stay.

The Georgian house is part of Gloucestershire charity Aim up to provide a range of care and support services to adults with disabilities, challenging needs and health conditions. There aim to provide training in all areas of the hospitality industry to people who would otherwise be unemployed. During this training they also work towards credited exams and receive certification. They take on students and staff from all backgrounds, learning and developing their skills as they go. The guest house is in a perfect location for anyone visiting the city for the many shows and festivals held there during the year. Right in the city with an NCP car park across the street or permit parking changed at just £5 a night if you book direct. I can't recommend this place enough. The rooms were pleasantly decorated in keeping with the appearance and period of the house, the breakfast was superb and the on site project managers were friendly and helpful.
