The wines were wonderful and the environment is superb. Some negatives: 1. We were encouraged to taste our wines on the terrace above the cellar door. It was a really nice spot but the music was being played at disco levels which made it impossible to enjoy the wine in a relaxing way. The whole environment lends itself to enjoying a nice wine in a peaceful environment with great views, but sadly the techno-disco spoilt this. After the wine tasting we went to the newly opened Robyn's Glasshouse for another glass of wine and a snack. We ordered the Charcuterie sharing board (almost 70 NZD) and we're really disappointed when a tiny board of food was delivered to us. TBH it was barely enough for one person, let alone two. The bread sticks were stale/soft so we politely complained to the waitress who, rather than apologising and replacing them, said she'd "talk to the chef about the issue". Eventually 4 new bread sticks were provided that were OK, but we left Mudbrick still hungry. For the cost I would have expected a lot more food and a more friendly type of service.

The lamb rump was outstanding...almost like butter. We were keen to do a tasting downstairs and this just topped off our afternoon. Again we got offered "our pick" of tables available, which I always appreciate vs one being selected, and had a fantastic tasting experience with Tim. Extremely knowledgeable but also relaxed and approachable we felt the whole experience was memorable. The atmosphere downstairs is very ambient, and the menu has many appealing options...from light snacks to casual meals. We are only here a few days but I am pretty sure we are coming back for a longer lunch...without the car. We came for Mother’s Day lunch based on a friends recommendation and I’m so darn glad we did. We ordered the chicken Schwarma pizza (so good),the fried chicken (so tender yet crispy) and fries and everything was delicious. As the venue has so many fun things for the kids to do, after lunch we migrated down to the bounce area and our kids happily played whilst we had a few more cheeky drinks. Honestly it was heavenly! Michelle also assisted with some of our planning, helping with accommodation bookings, wedding day itineraries and logistical insights (i.e. where to have the wishing well or how to break up speeches to maximise enjoyment) which was all invaluable. We had a few Skype meetings over weekends, which was challenging for her given the 5 hour time zone difference – but Michelle was completely flexible and made herself entirely available whenever we needed to work with her. Her experience in planning weddings of all sizes was obvious from the outset and we would not hesitate in recommending her services to anyone intending to get married on Waiheke Island. Me and my friend did not make it as it was uphill for 15 minutes and very steeply downwards for 5 minutes. We could finish the last section which was down a hill for 3 min and up a hill for 7 min. We still had a nice view at the bottom of the grape orchard and a nice grassy area for our picnic. Be aware that there is no access through the gate as it's connected to an estate; however, public are allowed to walk through the gate and follow the track that's inbetween the two driveways. There is also some mild storm damage to the track but it is still safe to walk. Also wouldn't recommend to walk this from autumn to spring as the track gets slippery/sludgy. We did this walk late spring and it was sludgy but we could easily navigate around this.
