Amazing waffle, the layout and the aesthetic of the inside , gives me a lived in, homey feeling, for example how the booth's leather is faded and cracked, gives the furniture character.

Food and drinks were good but I’d say maybe a little less cheese on the loaded potato some sort of gravy would be good. Stopped in since we had a bogo coffee from 16ozdays.
It was pretty busy and so close to a college campus makes sense. Felt like it took a long time to get our waffle which I attributed to the potatoes taking longer than regular waffles but a party after us got there food more quickly so not sure.
I usually get just Americanos but went with a macchiato and it was really good. They did a great job.

I'm new in the neighborhood. I decided Father's Day would be a good occasion to try the waffles here. The only problem was many other people had the same idea, which meant the service was a little slow. Were they understaffed, considering it was a special day? I don't know...
I don't want to say anything bad about the servers because they were really nice and kind. But we were 3 at the table and we didn't get the 3 plates at the same time...and the coffees arrived when we were almost finishing...
Other than that, the food was delicious. We ordered the Loaded Potato, Apple Strudel and Banana waffles. And there was a family-oriented atmosphere that we enjoyed.
Now we need to go back and try all the other flavors! (And maybe on a more quiet day...)

I cannot recommend this place enough. The waffles they offer cart a wide net of savory or sweet waffle dishes. Gluten sensitive? Vegan? They’ve got you covered. Their range of coffee drinks are excellent in quality, as well. Take it to go, or enjoy in their lovely dining space.

Seems a bit more like a college-age hangout spot that for me doesn't shine in any one particularly area. Espresso drinks are average and weekend wait times for them are long (10+ mins in my experience). Waffle times are 3x this.
Staff are warm, flavor combinations are fun, and ingredients look handmade, but seating feels a bit more deli style functional (chairs screech across floors for example).
I think if I want waffles I'd choose to go to a restaurant like Keys and be served in comfort, if I wanted great coffee then I'd go to Workhorse, Get Down Coffee Co, Dogwood, etc.

We recently went to Black Coffee Waffle Bar after visiting family out of town. I had been craving their waffles for days. The strawberry cheesecake is my favorite!

A classic diner straight out of the 50s with good food and great service to boost. The diner car itself has a lot of history and has been restored to its original condition before being carted across the country to be in Minneapolis
We had Huevos Rancheros, Fried Chicken Sandwich, Eggs and Pancake !! The Pancake was big and soft and fluffy. With great coffee and excellent service this is 9.8/10 recommendation

I ordered the Fish and Chips. The fish was very good and not hard. It was “fall off the bone.” However, the fried fish was not crispy. Kind of felt like a baby’s arm. Not a beer batter. Just batter. The fries were crinkle cut and therefore not crispy. Some fragments and bits were though, which was nice. They were seasoned similarly to the taste of Lawry’s Seasoning. The dish included “capers,” which I’ve never tasted before. They’re fried little green bulbs from a plant. Salty and fried. But very much retained a green plant taste. Unique taste.
My friend ordered the Huevos Rancheros and orange juice. The juice seemed fresh and had pulp, which I liked. The meat was well seasoned. It was a simple dish.

Great place with a super fun atmosphere. If you are looking for a classic diner, this is a great option! I got the Tex-Mex Burrito and it was tasty with a healthy portion size. I also had a pancake which was excellent (and big). Neither was mind-blowing but still very good. The big drawback is the price. All entrees are around 17 dollars which isn’t insane, but definitely on the expensive side for a diner. Overall; good spot with tasty food but expect to pay around 24 or so per person all in.

Good food with friendly and attentive staff. The menu is fun with good variety. I love the chill atmosphere. We had the chips and guacamole (excellent), Notorious P.I.G.(great), the Mediterranean salad (just okay- flavors were unbalanced), and chicken tenders basket(great). The prices are a bit high.

Awesome little resturant. The atmosphere in there was nice and calm, the lights are very pretty. The food was very good but, the prices on some things were a bit much. I got the HI-Lo burger which was $17 with fries, the burger was smaller than I thought it would've been for price and didn't come with anything special besides cheese and sauce. The grilled cheese although was AMAZING, good for price ($16) especially with the soup (both entrees can come with either soup or fries) the mac n cheese was vaguely worth it. $16 is a bit much for a bowl of pasta, but to each their own. Overall service was awesome, our waiter was very nice and checked up on us frequently but not annoyingly which was nice. Would recommend!

We had our wedding reception in the Williamsburg Room at The Lex back in September and it was everything we could have dreamed of and more. We had an intimate wedding with about 50 guests and our vision was what I described as a "JFK Jr and Carolyn Bessette wedding vibe combined with a classy Jazz Supper Club feel" And it couldn't have been more perfect than to do it in such a sophisticated and historic building. The food was delicious and the service was IMPECCABLE. Not only did we feel like we were A-list stars, but our guests felt that way too.
Minda was an absolute dream to work with during the planning and during the day of - no question was too big or too silly. She was so helpful and made sure I was taken care of every step of the way! I don't live locally, which made it a little more tricky for the planning process, but she'd go out of way to send me pictures and videos of the space to help me with all the little planning details! Even my MOH gushed about how wonderful it was to coordinate with her.
The bartenders and waitstaff epitomized the vintage Supper Club feel, with perfect service and just being so incredibly friendly. The best part was, I had my nieces and nephews in attendance and the bartenders didn't just make them kiddie cocktails - they went all out to make them fancier concoctions than I usually receive at a normal cocktail bar! (I included a fun little picture and video as an example!) A special shoutout to Andrew who really went all out and even got my nephew a fun little hat while making one of the drinks. The kids all had so much fun just from the entertainment of their drinks.
It has been 8 months since our wedding and my guests will STILL randomly talk about how amazing our reception was and how fantastic Andrew is. We have never experienced a bartender as amazing as him and I hope he knows just how much we appreciate that he brought so much fun and laughter to our reception. I even had guests from Philly concocting ideas on whether they could fly him out for their own wedding. :)
We can't wait to come back and visit!!

Came here for my girlfriend’s birthday and it was definitely a 4/5 for me! The atmosphere was quiet enough for us to relax, talk, and enjoy dinner. The food was amazing—everything came out flavorful and well-prepared. Our server was knowledgeable and such a good sport, going along with our shenanigans throughout the night, which made the experience even better. Decided to make a trip to The Lexington as an homage to the spooky month of October since it is allegedly haunted.
The ambiance of the restaurant is as one would expect if a place that dates back to the 1930s. It's a cozy atmosphere, and perfect for a date night.
Our waitress was very polite and gave us her suggestions. She was attentive and we never felt like we were left hanging at any point.
Our appetizer was the lobster and cauliflower dip, followed by the Lobster Spaghetti and Whitefish Gorbachev.
Both dishes were great, the appetizer was ok. I feel like the lobster that was in the spaghetti was better, sweeter and less "fishy" tasting if that makes sense the fish was refreshing with a nice crust on it. The spaghetti was nice and thick and the lobster was a nice touch to it. I feel like there was a good amount of lobster on the dish as well.
Overall, I think the Lexington was nice. I think it's pricing correlates closely with it's history and status as a good and well known restaurant in the area. I don't think I can definitely say that the quality of the food matched the cost as nothing I had was truly mind blowing, but The Lexington was certainly worth the trip and I think next time I may consider some of the steak options in lieu of the pasta.

We live in the neighborhood and decided on a date night. We had an amazing dinner. Food, service and atmosphere were top shelf. I had the center cut Ribeye cooked rare with bone marrow butter. Visited on a Wednesday evening during Restaurant Week. It was packed. We got a table in the corner, tucked behind the bar. Our server was attentive but busy as all of her other tables were in a different room.
We tried each of the specials they offered, Caesar salad, walleye cakes, salmon, steak, grasshopper pie, & chocolate cake. $45 per person was a fair price.
We were celebrating our anniversary and they brought an extra dessert (ice cream) as a gift.

We just finished celebrating a birthday dinner here. We ordered a lot of food, including the chateaubriand, the steak tartare, the lobster cauliflower Mac n ' cheese, and the halibut, along with several sides.
I'm not gonna lie, we were somewhat demanding of our waiter, who was 100% class and delivered promptly and without error. The entire service team was fast, efficient, and kind.
The food was timed, prepared, and presented absolutely perfectly. The chateaubriand and steaks were perfect medium rare, tender and delicious. The fries were crispy and hot. The asparagus side was delightful and the portions for everything were generous.
We were located in the bar area, which had a boisterous noise level, but that’s to be expected on a Saturday night, and honestly lent a bit to a party atmosphere.
Overall, the service was contentious and the food will have us remembering our celebration fondly for years to come. Thank you, Lexington!

I’m giving this place three stars because the food was solid with no complaints other than it was lacking depth and definitely salt. I’ve noticed here in the Twin Cities. A lot of places have very high ratings, but don’t seem to be matching up with the flavor. While all the ingredients on the dish were right, there was just no flavor coming from them. A little salt will go a long way. Prices were slightly elevated, and the coffee was overpriced for what it was. I might be willing to try it again, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to go back.

Cute little cafe with indoor & outdoor seating. We stopped in at 10:30am on a Sunday and they were quite busy but seating was still available. Orders are made at the counter so it would be helpful to look over their menu before going in. Everything is made fresh from scratch! We had the Colossal breakfast, and some pastries. It was all wonderful. Parking is street only, but a nice location, so it wasn't real difficult to find.

We were excited to try this place for breakfast, but disappointed in the food. The "over-easy" eggs were cooked over hard. The French toast was airy and light because it hardly had any egg mix in it. It didn't taste like French toast, either, but rather like bread and syrup. The biscuit was dense and flavorless. There is no buttermilk flavor in these buttermilk biscuits. The homemade jam was very good. Hash browns were not crisp. Bacon was good. The ambiance is nice, and restrooms are clean and spacious.
We will not be returning here because there is much better food, for the same price, elsewhere.

It sounds cliche but this is truly a hidden gem. It was busy this morning but all of the staff were incredibly helpful and we were always met with smiles. The specials or the pork shoulder burrito are top notch and the mimosa was absolutely delicious. There was a woman floating around helping everyone, she is amazing and clearly knows her stuff. Go here, you will not regret it. Side note: They get busy, be patient. It is not the staffs fault they make amazing food that so many people want. We ordered multiple meals and our food was out within 7-8 minutes WITH it being at peek breakfast time. This classic diner is an easy 5-star establishment. The service was impeccable; there is no chance that my drink was going to be empty for even a millisecond. They were always on top of topping it off no matter how fast I tried to drink. The atmosphere is charming; there are hundreds of pieces of art from previous customers and children hanging on their wall, truly feeling local and warm. This place was AWESOME. We have a large family of 8, so I called ahead to make sure the patio was an option. The person on the phone was extremely pleasant and let me know he would save something for me.

BEST FIND EVER!!! The back patio was insanely gorgeous. Even the inside seatings were so cute and fun too. We’ll have to come back and check out the indoor dining experience as well. Very cozy place. Little books and cranes to go in spread out across different rooms allows a big place that feels cozy. Garden is beautiful great atmosphere and not super loud. Amazing people here super relaxed and feels so comfy. Food is delicious and filling good menu options and flexible ordering.
Waitress was super accommodating and helpful. We were a table of 6 and they were able to accommodate. Lots of very friendly regulars.

This eclectic Cafe is in our rotation. The cafe has spacious yet private indoor seating, and a lovely patio/backyard area with a fountain during the warmer months. The entire cafe is decorated with art, antiques, odds and ends. The bathrooms are large and clean. Oh --and the food is very good!!!! I have never had a bad thing here. My normal go-to is the egg croissant sandwich, but I have branched out and tried other things as well. My partner usually gets a burger or a patty melt. This place is perfect to go for breakfast or lunch or if you are like us and one of you prefers breakfast and the other likes non-breakfast foods. If you are an early riser they have additional deals for people who order around 7am.
Some areas of the restaurant would be tricky to put a wheelchair --but the space is so large and there is such a diverse amount of seating options that there is something for everyone, including those who use mobility aids
The staff is very friendly and accommodating. One time, I came by the cafe 30 minutes before close and they still made me my egg sandwich, they just put it in a to-go box.
This cafe is a local gem to be enjoyed all year round, but especially in the summer. dogs are welcome here! I have seen many a dog enjoying the patio with their owners in the summer.

I love the atmosphere, quaint decor and exceptional service at Day by Day cafe. We had an excellent experience and would definitely go back to try some of the bakery and other food items.
The coffee was good. We had the avocado toast along with French toast with eggs and bacon. I really enjoyed the bread they used for the avocado toast but found the "avocado" part of the toast to be simply guacamole. I should have read the menu more thoroughly and expected this. The French toast was excellent. Overall, excellent restaurant experience.

Stopped in for dinner. I tried the dirty double burger and it was ok. The patty tasted ok, but there was a little bit of a weird flavor that sometimes is in plant based beef. The cheese was my least favorite part, it had an off putting goopy texture. I had had the burger before several years ago, and had liked it, so maybe something has changed, or I’ve just had better plant based burgers since then. The fries were decent. My husband liked the Crunchwrap and my friend really liked the tomato soup and gyro.

I always love a plant based restaurant! The chicken bacon ranch wrap was perfect and would be great with some extra sauce for dipping. We were not as big a fan of the mac n cheese. I quite enjoyed the vibes here! Most of the food I got was great! The cauliflower wings were fantastic, and the ranch dipping sauce was so good that I’d come back just to have it again with fries (I even asked for extra to go!). The chickin’ burger didn’t hit the spot for me but the carrot cake was rich and delicious, and I also loved one of the big frosted cookies. Great space and energy! Fried mushrooms- breading is so good. The mushrooms have a meaty texture which goes good with it. The "ranch" it comes with doesn't taste like ranch, but it's good as it's own sauce.
Steak sandwich- I got this with cheese sauce instead of horseradish aioli. Not sure if I asked for that or it was a special. I did not care for the cheese sauce. After scraping off most of the cheese sauce, the sandwich was good! Could have used way more meat & veg, but I like bread too.
Animal fries- Again, didn't like the cheese sauce, so kind of ruined these. The pieces with just the special sauce on it were delicious. It might be like thousand Island. Next time I would get no cheese sauce, extra special sauce. And maybe on the side so fries don't get so soggy.
Gyro- boyfriend said it was okay.
Mushroom (wild rice?) soup- Didn't care for it at all at the restaurant. But after my leftovers were in the fridge a couple days, it was great! Not sure if flavors just needed to melt or if my mood changed.
Honestly not worth it for the price. But want to support that kind of business, so kind of makes it better. Will return as a treat to try more stuff and get more mushrooms.

Went here last Saturday night with a good friend - very fun upbeat atmosphere & great food! We were on a shrimp theme that night but can't wait to try more seafood boil options next time. Salt & Pepper shrimp were good, & kale avocado salad was fantastic... And then we had don't serve ice cream, it was like cinnamon toast crunch in ice cream form - yum! Delicious and delightful. Went for brunch and Jennifer was really helpful talking us through the menu. Everything we had was really flavorful and super well-balanced (eg, the spicy things had a depth of flavor besides the heat). We had a boil with awesome sauce and it was indeed awesome. Cocktails were also delicious! I had the Grand Old Fashion, Mez-call Me Saul (my fave of the three) and Boyfriends & Girlfriends.
Next time I’d definitely add rice to dump in to the sauce at the end and eat. I’d skip the Jonah crab claws. They are frustrating to eat and not worth it. I’d also eat at the bar instead of a table.

Tried this place for the first time, and was not disappointed. Ordered the medium catch with awesome sauce seasoning. It was very flavorful, and the assortment of seafood was very good. It was a little pricey at $62, but that's what you pay for when you want quality seafood. My family and I stopped at Keys for breakfast over Memorial Day weekend. There was no wait, but the place was busy! They were able to seat 5 of us right away and got our drink orders. They have an awesome little bakery counter and coolers with soups and take out hot dishes - we didn’t need any of this after our meals but it was nice to see.
I ordered the Cajun Breakfast and the portion was huge and so so delicious. My fiancé ordered the biscuits and gravy and his brother got the Eggs Benedict. All delicious.
Not pictured, but my daughters both got pancakes (shaped like Mickey Mouse) with whipped cream and m&ms and sides bacon. The pancakes are enormous and really really tasty! We highly recommend Keys to anyone and everyone! They also have meatless options.

This has been a favorite restaurant of ours for years!! Today was no exception.
The food is the star with homemade soups, baked goods and entrees. The variety is vast and at some point we’ve tried almost everything on the menu. Our favorite dessert is Keys chocolate cake. Very chocolatey and moist with a wonderful frosting.
Today I had the hamburger vegetable soup and a grilled ham and cheese sandwich which was delicious!
The service is friendly, prompt and efficient, but still has a neighborhood feel to it.
We like to visit every time we come back to the Twin Cities.

My cousin and I had a delightful meal at Keys Cafe. Our server was phenomenal! The food was delicious. The bakery case looked amazing and the items we tried were quite tasty.
The walkways between seats are a bit narrow. It would be tricky to navigate a wheelchair to the restroom or further into the restaurant. Otherwise it's a charming place.

Well, it is early morning so there were not many choices to eat. I chose this restaurant for its proximity to where I need to be in an hour. Walking in, I was impressed with the resemblance of diners I enjoyed in New Jersey. The staff seemed cool but set me way in the back, which probably lead to my next experience. A mouse ran at me from across the store. The couple next to me confirmed my sighting and got up and left. Since my food was coming out, I stayed and informed the staff of my experience. Nothing was said or done, so I probably wouldn’t be back. Shame because it seemed like a nice place!

I have never had a souffle pancake, but the texture is really nice! Sort of fluffy/chewy at the same time. The blueberries and lemon were a delicious combination.
What really stood out was the very kind staff. They waved goodbye when I left and were so wonderful and welcoming.

The flowers were for a loved one who lost their father this week so I was nervous trying a new florist for such an important situation. But I'm happy to say that my worry was all in vain! Heard about Al's and finally got around to trying it. The inside is very narrow and there's only barstool seating. If people come in to wait, they will be standing directly behind you. The decor is quirky and it's definitely a unique dining experience. This isn't a good place for large parties or a long sit down meal. Overall I was underwhelmed by the food, breakfast was $30 for 2 people (we didn't even order drinks) and i found the portions small for the price and the food just average. Of course this place is an institution and you go for the quirkyness but the was food nothing special.

I wish I could give this place zero stars, but the system won’t allow it. I’ve visited this restaurant twice, and while I generally felt welcomed during both visits, today’s experience left me disappointed. My friend clearly requested that our food be fully segregated from any pans or cooking surfaces used for pork products, and we confirmed this again at the counter. We strictly do not eat pork for religious reasons, so this request was very important to us.
I watched the cooking process, and unfortunately, there was no effort made to honor what we asked for. Although the eggs were cooked separately, the rye, pancake, and hashbrowns were prepared on the same surfaces used for pork and placed on the same plate. When we brought this up, the older gentleman taking the order simply said, “It got wiped,” which is not proper sanitization when dealing with pork residue. Since our original order was not remade or adjusted, we decided to order a waffle instead, as it is prepared in a separate pan in the back.
In the end, we could only eat the eggs and the waffle and left feeling disappointed and disregarded. Again, we did feel generally welcome as customers—but not when it came to how our order and our dietary needs were handled.
I truly hope management takes this feedback seriously. No customer should have to struggle to have their dietary and religious needs respected, especially when they communicate them clearly.

Stumbling into Al's Breakfast in Dinkytown I was greeted with a cardbox cutout sign informing me that this diner is cash only. My kind of place. I stood there for a while, waiting for a seat to free up. I didn't mind that at all, I just stood there a while looking around this tiny place. In the end I got seated and immediately got poured an honest cup of hot coffee. Black as midnight. We ran to the Target over a block and got cash back, but lost our spot in line and had to wait probably 20 minutes to be seated (only 14 seats in the restaurant). Definitely worth the 30-minute wait, would have waited an hour if we had to. The food, the service, the atmosphere, the decor, outstanding! Two words: Oatmeal Pancakes. You'll thank me later. Great big menu, you'll need time to deliberate from all of the wonderful choices offered. Diner like atmosphere with individual stools and a counter up front if you're dining solo. Lots of tables and booths, but on weekends, they are going to be full and you may have to wait like we did. Definitely worth it. They will text you when the table is ready. This is our new go to in Highland Village in St. Paul for lunch and breakfast food. Classic American diner food in a clean and comfortable restaurant with many booths and tables. They have daily specials on the caulk board, that always have something delicious to offer. They usually have 4 really good soup offerings. It's nice to have a selection that isn't just chicken noodle or tomato basil. I love the beef barley soup! We had breakfast food and was happy they offered a keto type offering, I just skipped the toast. The veggie mix is such a great alternative to hashbrowns and very nutritious. They are very accommodating and always helpful for dietary needs. The bakery case had some items that looked really good. I have to stay out for now. The food is really good, the people are nice and it's comfortable and it's not a chain restaurant. Support local business and you will find something here as there is an awesome selection for any meal time.

Delicious! The food is hearty, but light and not oily. The pesto pasta (without meat) is a great vegetarian option. It is not heavy, or creamy which is nice for lactose intolerant people.
The fish and chips are tender & fluffy. The horseradish sauce compliments the fish & bread/batter well.

EAT ON THE STREET: the space outside in summer is really fun and its actually quieter OUTSIDE when its really busy inside. The steak perogies is a showstopper and so is the Brussel sprouts. My son told me to visit here and I dragged my feet about going. I'm salty now because the place is 🔥!! It's small but cute and cozy, 8.5/10 on the atmosphere. Now my server Lex, she rocked and she had big style so that's a 10/10 for me. The early happy hour had us feeling really excited we picked the place. The food took it to another level. We stopped here while on our way back to our hotel from the Minnesota Children's Museum (we were visiting from Chicago) on a Saturday afternoon. I had the best BLT-A of my life, my son's chicken tenders were so juicy and crispy and my husband got the cheesecake which he said was the best he's ever had. The place was easy to find, lots of parking available and we were seated right away. Highly recommend!

First time in and I cannot wait to go back. I had the Irish stew which was delicious. Sat at the bar and the bartender was very attentive while the clientele there was friendly. The menu has tons of great options, the atmosphere was perfect, and the service was prompt and welcoming.

We visited on our way into the cities for a day of fun. Since this location is open 24 hours, on 7th St SW, we were four of just a few diners. The staff, one man, was super quick to refill drinks, cook our food and just make our experience extremely pleasant. The atmosphere is definitely that of an old school, small diner. It's nothing flashy, but worth the price point. Our food was well prepared and we all enjoyed! We had the French toast, pancakes, over easy eggs, hashbrowns and chicken melt sandwich. I ordered the dummies and fries. The chicken was great however I did not particularly like the fries sue to them being overly saturated in oil and lacking flavor even with salt. Friendly order at counter service. Our food was great. The Huevos Rancheros sauce was exceptional, however the portion was modest, but I'll take quality over quantity any day. It was my first time here and quite happy with the experience. I wanted to keep it simple and ordered the Fried egg, Fresh Tomato, and Feta breakfast sandwich. Loved that it came with a couple of orange slices. The egg was fried medium so there was some yolk to dip the bread in.
The staff were very courteous and did not rush us out of our booth since there were not any diners waiting for a table. The wifi has adequate speed if you bring your work laptop along.

What a gem of Saint Paul’s east side. I’m so glad this place made it through the pandemic. Enjoyed a big helping of pancakes with real whipped butter and a delicious, simple blueberry syrup. I can’t decide if I like regular or blueberry syrup better. The service is humble, direct and attentive. This is exactly what you want and expect in a local restaurant. There’s an edgy attitude, and I like it. We enjoyed our meal and I look forward to coming back. Portions are generous and restaurant is clean, tidy and cozy.

The best French toast I have ever had *in my life*. Wow! They serve it with cinnamon butter! The bread was perfection, super soft but had a crunch on top, soaked through all the way through. Warm syrup! My husband had the Lumberjack breakfast and he was equally impressed!! When we come back to Minneapolis, we are absolutely coming here for breakfast. Such friendly service too! Everything was alright. It seems like a basic diner. Most of the food is bland and some of it tasted extremely processed. The fish was freshly caught and fried. The seating is outdated and was uncomfortable for the handicapped or overweight in our group.
In response to owner, I mean that is pretty much what I said. A 3 star literally means "It's okay." No one is blaming you for picking a small space for your restaurant, it's just important for some people to know that they may be uncomfortable or in pain before they decide to come there. It's mainly the gravy and soup pictured that tasted processed. Made from scratch can mean a lot of things, but even if it was made from mostly fresh ingredients, those two things didn't taste very good to us. If you hear this from multiple patrons maybe you can know what to tweak. Good fish though!

I met colleges here for our burger club meeting. We each got something Different and an assortment of sides and appetizers. All in all, everything was above average. Portions were decent. Food came quick. The perogis, deviled eggs, and mushrooms were excellent, and the cheese curds were okay. The onion burger was 4/5. I have driven by Burger Dive on Bay Street many times and always been intrigued. I was finally able to try it out recently. We were able to get seats on the patio, and it was quite lovely out there. They have a decent drink selection available. We ordered the House Dry Rub Wings and the House Burger. The wings were spectacular! The dry rub has a Cajun flavor with a slight kick to it. There are sauce options that come on the side, and we tried the ranch and barbecue. The barbecue was on the sweeter side, and the ranch was very good. The House burger comes with American cheese, grilled onions, and pickles. The burger was seasoned deliciously, but it did fall apart a little bit.

It's a dive bar plus. The atmosphere is great. The only things better is the breakfast menu until 5PM, regular burger menu, and the service. It's a typical Westend main stay and highly recommended. A must when in St. Paul. A wonderful dining experience in a converted train cab. The staff are very friendly and the service quick. The food is very good. If you sit at the counter, you're literally right next to the flat top. Both breakfast and lunch are very good having been here multiple times while visiting. It can be hard to find a seat as it dies get busy. There is ample parking in a lot right next to it.

Excited we were finally able to stop into this landmark! Its cute and a fun experience. Food was ok. We will probably try something different if we go back. I've walked past here a banch of time's, but never stopped in. Today I was CRAVING a party melt and this place completely satisfied that craving. So often, the bread to beef ratio at restaurants is so out of wack with their party melts, but it was perfection here. The patty was well seasoned and the onions and cheese were perfect. We found this place just randomly, by searching restaurants around our hotel, and i have to say it was an amazing experience. My 11 year old son has never seen a traditional diner. Well this thing was a beauty. I had to explain what that thing in the wall was (coin operated jukebox). Super cool vibe. We had double stack pancakes, Cluck N Chuck Burger and Mickeys Sputnik Burger. We weren't even that hungry but we devoured our food withing 10-15 mins. Burger patty's we're tender, delicious and super juicy. I always say the messier the burger the better it is. This was one of the best damn burgers I've ever had. Must visit if youre in St.Paul, MN.

The diner is built from an old train car and has a very cool retro interior. It's clean and well maintained but looks like it's been exactly the same since it opened which is very fun. They also had great music playing.

They had booths but it seems most of the seating is at the counter on diner style bar stools which are affixed to the floor. They're plenty comfortable but I found them to be a little slick and they also don't spin very well but it wasn't a problem.

Portion sizes are very generous and the food was delicious. There were two of us and after the meals, drinks, and tip, the total was about $40 which was very reasonable for the amount of food we got.

Well i am very sad that I am giving a formal college fave a low rating but I'm trying to be as unbiased as possible despite all great memories we had here back in the day. Well although our server was nice she legit admitted that she forgot we were there hence we had to hunt someone down after sitting for over 20min looking at the menu. 😳 Now the food... The people who i with said their omelets were good but my breakfast sandwich that is picture was a whole other story. It was extremely dry, it lacked flavor and it was just not good. Very disappointed overall.

We’ve been to other Keys Café locations around town, so we decided to check out the original. We seated ourselves in the narrow bar area, which put us in pretty close quarters with the waitress.
Naturally, breakfast wouldn’t be complete without pancakes, so I ordered some with blueberries and banana. While they arrived piping hot, the pancakes were denser than expected—not as fluffy as I hoped. I also tried the Benny with ham, which came recommended by our waitress. Unfortunately, the hollandaise sauce wasn’t to my taste—it leaned more on the sour side. The bacon was a bit tough, and the coffee was just okay—not great, but not bad either.
One thing I noticed was that our waitress had a habit of handling our coffee cups by the rim instead of the handle, which felt a little too “hands-on” during our visit.
Lastly, for those with dietary preferences, they only offer regular milk—no alternative options like oat milk, which I found out when I tried to order a Chai with oat milk. Understandable, but worth noting.

Keys Cafe is, in my view, a very Iconic breakfast joint. It has stood the test of time for a reason....absolutely amazing food. It's a casual cafe that has an old town classic feel. The waiter, Phillip, was what every waiter aspires to be. He was attentive but gave us our room to converse and enjoy the great grub. He was energetic but not overbearing, and he made perfect recommendations. We both got the number 4 with Italian sausage. I got 2 pancakes, and my wife got 2 french toast thanks to Phillip. Our food was brought out in a very timely manner. The american fries were delicious. Perfectly fried, so every bite was crispy. The eggs were cooked as we expected and were great to dip the potatoes in. The Italian sausage is and continues to be the GREATEST in Minnesota. Juicy, full of spicy flavor and large patties. The pancakes are fluffy and monsters in size. The French toast was sweet, paired nicely with butter and syrup. If you haven't eaten breakfast at this Minnesota legend, then what are you waiting for.

Stillwater is awesome! Great consistent food, wonderful service explains why they are always busy. Too bad some people have to be so incredibly rude when restaurants are busy. Watched a crazy rude guy plop at the bar tonight thinking he should be waited on ahead of other diners that were already seated, causing a scene. Felt bad for the bartender when he acted like a 4 yr old and snapped at her and another. Almost embarrassing but they took it in stride and handled it so well! Now go try their chicken salad sandwich on cranberry wheat bread, and be kind!

Had the roast beef hash and eggs and it was really great. Lots of peppers, onions and celery along with hash brown and tender roast beef. It never disappoints. My partner had the ribs and they were good as well. Definitely enjoy Keys and the bakery looks great, but we're usually too full to try it

I gave the food 5 starts because my Keys Omelette was excellent. My wife loved her chicken fingers and mashed potatoes.
The restaurant is cramped for space. We were seated right next to another couple and their table was turned facing us. They were staring right at us the whole meal. The area is too small for the number of tables they have.
Our waitress was very nice, but we waited and waited for her to come back and give us the check and bring us boxes for our leftovers. I finally had to catch her when she was in the vicinity and ask for the check.
If you don't mind cramps spaces, the food is excellent.

Very busy but did take some pictures. We noticed the menu items maybe a little different then others so we took pictures. Sorry the lighting wasnt all that good and the menu was old!!
Waitress was awesome!! Instead of charging me for large chili and side ceaser she charged me for soup and salad meal and it came with a cookie which went to a child!!

I’ve been coming here for years and this place is a hit or miss, when it’s good it’s good but when it’s bad, it’s disgusting…don’t even waste your money here. Had an $80 order and the Philly cheese steak is flavorless, absolutely no flavor at, I ordered a Caesar salad and they didn’t send any dressing. The whole reason I ordered was because I need to go grocery shopping so I don’t even have dressing at home and had to pay for the salad. Also ordered a burger and the patty tastes like burnt meat, not even good when that’s all you can taste. I’ve gotten the chicken wild rice soup many times before and it’s usually thick, today it’s super watery and taste super sour and nasty. I always order big orders from this place but today will be my last. Super disappointed and then they wanna ask if you wanna leave a tip, for horrible customer service? Annoying as hell.

Chef Mike (the microwave) works overtime here. I've always gotten the biscuits and gravy, and every single time there is a portion of my biscuit that is rock hard. I could never figure out why. I sat at the counter a couple days ago and watched as the microwave was used over and over to reheat even sausage links. And then I realized that my biscuit always has the texture of bread that is microwaved for too long.
It's really lazy to heat food in a microwave when the cooks are surrounded by flat tops, ovens, stoves, etc. Especially when you are paying such a high price for microwaved food. I can microwave food at home myself.
The sausage gravy and biscuit have good flavor. Please cook the food. Using a microwave doesn't count and is insulting as a customer.
