From our early conversations to our arrival, we knew it was the right decision. Hiram and Matthew are hoteliers who have a passion for what they do and an appreciation for the beauty that surrounds them. This is not just a business for them and it’s obvious. This place is magical. We stayed in the Red Thunder accommodation and it was exactly as described. It has the perfect amount of luxury with quality amenities, a very comfortable bed, sitting area, elements from a few of our favorite brands and we believe, the best views one could ask for. On the recommendation of Hiram and Matthew, we did some incredible hiking and had a few unexpected adventures that will give us great stories from the trip. We also had massages and the therapists were the best we’ve ever experienced. We enjoyed a romantic picnic lunch (which we had for dinner) and the presentation, the wine that was chosen for us, the freshness of the food was pure deliciousness. Farm to Table is not a catch phrase for this property; it’s the real deal. Matthew and Hiram are so knowledgeable about the area, there is always something to do. That hike is about 2 miles in and out. There were only 3 ppl I saw the entire time and they were hiking the opposite way. The cemetery while very cool is old and you can’t read the stones, not sure on details of who is laid to rest there. The cemetery is surrounded by mountain laurel which was in bloom. It appears that at some point it had been fenced with barbed wire. It’s all dilapidated now. While this is not a hard hike be advised the last little bit to the cemetery is up hill, again it was spring for me and waterproof footwear is advised. Today I also saw a female elk just barely off the path, she watched me pass and I was glad she seemed subdued. I always carry bear spray for those just incase moments but I kept a wide birth from her. Her ears were twitching and she didn’t take her eyes off me. I didn’t see any others. The bridges are narrow and unique but do the trick of keeping you dry. A lovely spot of woods!

The first time I visited the place they had had a hiccup with their brewing license and did not have their beer on tap nor did they have food available regularly and thus only had guest brewery beers on tap and a guest food truck. Despite this the bartender went above and beyond to make the experience as pleasant as possible. Upon my second trip to the area their brewing permit had been restored and I was first introduced to their signature delicious Copperhead IPA. During this visit they boasted about their soon to open on site permanent kitchen truck. I was able to return soon after the grand opening of their magnificent little kitchen. The menu is simple but the owner takes pride in making sure things are done right. A delicious take on bar nachos, with a beef and bean chili as a base. Chicken wings dry brined for 24hrs and flash fried to perfection and served with your choice of delectable sauce. Beautiful smash burgers and more!! The bartenders Angel and Spencer are attentive and know how to make good drinks. The owner Paul(and his awesome pup Star) frequently hang out in the bar posing as a regular patrons and furthermore really care about and emerse themselves in the experience of their guests. I highly recommend stopping in for a beer and a bite!
