Great place for dinner if you’re near Leland Michigan. Unique restaurant with delicious food. The pie was amazing!! Definitely get it. It was super busy and we got sat right away. You can get a great view of the water as well if you have a window seat. Service was great. Would definitely go back. I got the campfire whitefish and it was delicious

Stopped for lunch in the Historic Fishtown district in Leland Michigan at The Cove. We were seated right away, would of been a wait for outdoor seating. Wait service was quick and pretty efficient . Ordered 2 specials : their Perch sandwich , and added fries , which arrived quickly and were just ok. A bit pricey for two perch filets on a bun and a handful of fries at $24. But overall ,not to bad for a quick lunch with a view of the river.

I don’t like fish. Not at all. But the server enticed me to try the chipotle mayo and panko coated whitefish tacos. I could not have been more pleasantly surprised! It was AMAZING. And the house-made tartar sauce was so good on the tacos and the house fries. Probably the only reason worth visiting historic fish town, but I’m glad I did!
The garlic parmesan whitefish and perch were enjoyed by my friends. Everything looked great here and the service was great.

The Cove was awesome! Food, environment, and service was great! We tried the fried walleye and chips. It was a super busy weekend but we got in right away. The prices were a little higher than I think they should be but that's all I would say negatively about our experience. Thanks for the great food!

This place deserves 5* for their Seafood Chowder and Whitefish New Orleans. I can finish 2 bowls of the the chowder and still want more. The Whitefish New Orleans is very creamy and not dry and is definitely the entree I would prefer. Tried their Signature Bloody Mary drink as well, for the price and hype, not a big fan. Instead, get the Seafood Chowder! Handed us a very nice postcard at the end and that was a nice gesture. Definitely recommend this place of you’re visiting Fishtown!

This restaurant along side the dam at Fishtown has a great view of the dam and Salmon jumping upstream adding to the atmosphere. The exterior is fitting for Historic Fishtown and thus fairly simple. The warm whitefish spread and freshly house made chips were great along with the chowder! A perfect way to take the damp chill off from the weather.

We went in late April. Overall the beach is beautiful and long so it wasn't too crowded. We parked in the lot which was smaller fitting maybe a dozen or so cars. There was a single well kept port a john. Access to the beach is a short 5 minute sandy walk. We went looking for Leland rocks and were able to find some though very small ( rice grain sized) as well as some Petosky stones. They had a variety of other neat rocks which my daughter enjoyed. The local town nearby was delightful and we were able to go into a local toy store with a sweet owner who let me daughter play around with toys. There was a great coffee shop called the Hive nearby as well. There wasn't a lot of food options given it was off season but we were able to get a quick lunch at Vis.

The only drawback is that the trails, especially in the actual Whaleback natural area, are a bit overgrown so it can be hard to get past others at times. Cute little candy shop located right in Fish town. Obviously it's a niche shop that you swing in when visiting the area. The whole litte area is rustic/shanty by design and Dam Candy fits snuggly right in. The shop itself is tiny but they squeeze as many sweets as possible into that handful of square footage. My kids love the mix and match bags. Alitte of this, alittle of that, everyone gets there favorite, and trying to decide which candy out of the large selection only adds to the fun. Looks better on social media than it does in person. Cool place to see but hardly anything to do unless you wanna eat food or ice cream. You could maybe spend a few hours if you include the lackluster beach which you have to walk down the street to get to anyway. Really disappointing for a place that comes highly recomended. Totally overrated if you ask me. I really wanted to like it too but not really much of a destination. It could be so much more.

The perfect getaway. Amazingly cozy, only 5 guest rooms, but loaded with charm. Incredible restaurant on site but only open from Wednesday to the weekend. Just a block from "downtown" Leland and the water front.
To us, the bonus of no TV and no phones in the rooms added to the old world charm. Highly recommended and we will go back. Sorry the photos are from the shore that is a block away.

The bathroom light wasn't working, but there was a note there apologizing. There was 1 robe, we wish there had been 3, one for us each.
The staff was great for the hotel + restaurant on site (which was also FABULOUS!)

This restaurant was the epitome of fine dining! My wife and I celebrated our anniversary here and they welcomed us with glasses of champagne. We were astounded that establishments even do that anymore! From the moment we walked in we knew we were in for a pleasant experience. Our waitress was excellent with her recommendations, as the service was top notch. This place served some of the best noodles I have ever had in the Lobster Bucatini. The drinks were solid, but nothing overwhelmed me enough to recommend.
The outdoor seating was delightful and the staff was attentive with water refills, to accommodate for the warmer weather.
We thoroughly enjoyed this place, and would come back due to the service alone. Wonderful restaurant to celebrate the finer things of life.

We have taken a couple of groups over the past few weeks and they have all been so impressed with the experience and quality of food and service! I have typically had the halibut or the trout last time and both have been amazing. Loved this book store. Bright, cheery and huge inventory. Hardbound and paperback books. There are toys for infants, small children and big kids. At times craft activities on their enclosed back porch. They have local artwork from artists from Michigan. I found artwork by an artist i had purchased from before. We stopped here while in town and had a great experience. I was impressed with the book collection that they had. There were lots of books about the local areas that you would not find online or in other stores. I always spend time in the cookbook section and they had a diverse selection of cookbooks with many of the newest and popular titles available. They also had a nice selection of books about nature and the outdoors which is very fitting for the area.

Carlson has the smoked salmon and whitefish you want. They also make an excellent whitefish pate and salmon pate.
If you want fresh fish, they got that too! Also apparently great jerky though I’ve never tried. One of their staples.

The business has a different feel since it changed hands a bit back, definately more commercial feeling. They changed the recipe for the whitefish pate and I do not care for it as much. These things being said they are still my favourite place to get fresh trout and whitefish from. Make sure to ask if they are fresh or from frozen. The smoked whitefish and trout are just as good as ever. I give the salmon a skip because its Atlantic and not from MI. Make sure to get there early in the day if you want fresh fish!

We got lucky on our road trip and were able to book a one-night stay at Falling Waters Lodge. It POURED rain, but our day wasn't ruined because we sat on the porch and enjoyed the storm. This location is an experience in itself. Behind the building is private beach access. At night the sound of the water is so peaceful, and in the morning, you can watch the town come alive.
We just needed a reset from traveling and the shower, cleanliness of the hotel, and hospitality was everything we needed. There was a small grocery store around the corner and the restaurant sold my husband beer to go before they closed to take back to hotel. I can see why people come back to this small, but mighty town year after year.

Falling Waters Lodge is a great hotel on the dam of Lake Leelanau out to Lake Michigan. It's been all renovated and the rooms are very nice with nice beds. They have rooms with kitchenettes but I tend to get the smaller rooms with a wet bar which includes a refrigerator and a microwave. The views are wonderful and everybody shares a balcony overlooking the water and Lake Michigan. Have a grill on site to cook on as well as the ice machine. The staff are quite lovely and accommodations are very nice. This is not a four seasons it's a renovated hotel that has so much charm that will make you want to come back time after time.

The weather was terrible, we had to move inside, and the hosts were more than accommodating to make sure that everything went off as planned. I cannot say enough about how the owners helped us. This is a superb venue with bass fishing and I highly recommend it. Lots of vineyards and cider venues dot the landscape. With 5+ bedrooms, great for a family as large as ours. Had a great time at the Leland Township Marina. We enjoy staying here on annual boat trips. The staff was very good like always, and provide great assistance at the fuel docks and your slip. They clean the docks daily (sweep spider webs, clean power stands), etc. We have to call out Sam who has been there for a while who is on top of his game! The marina is right at the edge of Leland (Fish Town) with great restaurants, and gotta have fresh caught smoked lake fish and village cheese shanty sandwiches. Very nice sunsets and easy access to the beach.

Quite possibly the greatest, least spoilt place in the Great Lakes. And I've been to Isle Royale a number of times. Staying on Donner Point and having a private beach was heaven on earth. Slightly buggy but we had no tick issues. June was a great time to go. Crescent was our second night and then we stayed in the village campground our last night. Looking at the old hotel being restored and the cottages that are preserved was like stepping back in time.

I just got done with a four-day trip to North Manitou. It is the perfect place to go if you want to do some easy back country hiking and camping. I hiked the entire 24-mile perimeter and also hiked into the interior lake, Lake Manitou. Almost all the trails are easy - flat, well maintained, well marked, no steep hills, and only a few tricky sections. Much easier than Porcupine Mountain or Pictures Rocks. There is only one “campground”, which is just north of the village/dock area. But there are beautiful backcountry camp sites sprinkled all over the island. I especially recommend the southern area, near the cemetery. Crescent City also has some great spots for camping. The northern end is more densely wooded and has more mosquitos, so I just hiked through there and did not camp. There is only one potable water station on the entire island. I used the standard gravity filtration device and drank Lake Michigan water. There are some cool ruins all over the island, from when it was thriving with lumber and farming business. I brought my fishing pole and tried to fish Lake Manitou from the shore. It is very shallow for a long way out and I could not cast far enough to get into the deeper waters. We had a great stop here on our tour of wineries in the region. They are dog friendly and brought our pup a biscuit while we enjoyed our wines. This area was quiet and secluded and had a great coveted patio region as well as corn hole, bocce ball, and a fire pit. We had a great time!

My experience was OK. Not great or very memorable, but not bad by any means. It was very busy in the middle of the week in mid-October. Waited in line about 10 mins to order a sample flight. Wines were OK… Definitely on the drier side. Did a 3 glass tasting because I had a hard time deciding on 5. There was really only 1 out of 3 that I would consider purchasing a bottle of to take home. Nothing really wowed me. Staff was nice but not engaging, probably because they were busy. Very cool modern-rustic barn venue but very cramped seating, especially near the bar. The upstairs loft does help alleviate some congestion downstairs. Loved the couch near the fireplace and the self-serve water station. The outdoor area looked very nice and roomy. Overall, I would return, but this winery is not at the top of my favorites list for the area. I’d give them another chance, perhaps when less busy.

To be completely honest and transparent, I really wasn't expecting much when my family and I decided to dine here while staying at the hotel where this place is located.
I was honestly just expecting to pretty much make our rounds dining and munching around town while we were out exploring, and I didn't even think we would need to utilize eating where we were staying. That being said, I am very glad we did.
When you look around the place it's very unassuming, so we were honestly just expecting okay bar food that was edible but nothing to really write home (or a review) about, and at the time that was okay with us because we had been out all day with the kids, and just snagging a meal and then being able to go crash in our room upstairs sounded amazing.
Little did we know that we were in route for some of the most simple, yet absolutely delicious food that we ate during the entirety of our trip.
The staff here is also friendly, professional, efficient, and they do a great job overall. We actually ended up eating here twice during our stay, and I would absolutely advise on getting there as early as possible to when you'd like to eat because depending on the day and time, it gets busy pretty quickly. I didn't really anticipate a bunch of people coming here to eat that weren't staying at the hotel, but it turns out that this is a place that people from all over town come to for drinks/dinner. We found that the later it gets the busier it gets, but they close much earlier than your average bar/restaurant so you probably need to plan accordingly for the best outcome.
If you stop in when it's nice out, I highly recommend sitting outside. It's beautiful and as long as it isn't too hot or too cold, you will absolutely enjoy it.
The food here is just plain good. Nothing is overly complicated or fancy, but everything is done well. The burgers here are fantastic, and I also opted for the smoked wings. Who doesn't love a smoked wing? Smoke 'em if you got 'em, and if you smoke 'em I'll eat 'em. Every. Single. Time.
They also have a fully stocked bar. Beer, Wine, and all the Liquor drinks you drunken heart desires. A lot of them probably pair well with things but I'm a simple man, so an ice cold beer (or three) to wash down my fare tickled my fancy. Pop works too, and they also have that.
In my personal and semi-professional opinion, everything here is very reasonably priced as well. There are other places we visited during our trip where we received considerably less bang for our buck. So while it's certainly not priced like your local Denny's, you're much less likely to spend your evening on the toilet after dining here, and you wallet will only be a little sad.
When all was said and done, I would have eaten here ten more times during our stay if time allowed it, but it didn't so I'll have to settle for stopping in the next time we're in town and staying at the hotel.

We had dinner at the recently re-opened restaurant inside Leland Lodge. My Ceasar Salad was fresh and tasted good but contained very few greens. Dinner rolls came to the table warm but may have been frozen and reheated. They were not good. I ordered a crab stuffed Haddock that was dry and tasteless, with the sauce not being much help. Other than the food, the server was great and the atmosphere very pleasant. Two entrees, two glasses of wine and one beer came to a little over a hundred dollars including tip. We would not dine there again.

We were in need of some dinner and nothing in downtown Leland was looking good, so we took a short walk to Bogey’s and it was worth it. Because it was off the beaten path it was much slower than the other restaurants in Leland. The Burgers were absolutely phenomenal, and we also loved the whitefish tacos and whitefish basket. The service was a little slow - we could see the staff just chatting while we waited for them to come back to take our order and check on us throughout the meal (reason for the 4 stars). We were disappointed to find one of our favorite Leland spots had gone through a significant menu change. They got rid of many of our must have dishes (whitefish tacos, Brussel sprouts, veggie burger and many other burgers), and replaced them with over priced items ($39 for lake trout?!). We ordered the cheese pizza, held the proscuitto, and asked to split it. The pizza was $25 and the split charge was $10. For $35 we got a small sized, average tasting pizza, with a tiny side salad and tiny side of rice. The service was the same as always, mostly teens and young college kids, which is totally understandable for a town like Leland, but to charge the new prices they are charging, and have the same slow, under knowledgeable staff, (though overall friendly) is disappointing. You must get the Brussel Sprouts, enough for 3-4 people! Service can be slow at peak times but friendly. My vodka drink was weak. The food was served hot and was delicious. We hosted our wedding celebration in late May at Aurora Cellars and it was absolutely perfect!. Aurora's staff was extremely easy to work with and always available to answer any of our questions. They provided a comprehensive list of suggested vendors, which we were not obligated to use, that helped us tremendously with planning from out of state.
The venue itself is absolutely stunning! It's so naturally beautiful, that you don't feel like you need to bring a lot of decor in, but it can definitely support it if that's your vibe. The willow tree is the most perfect backdrop for any ceremony and by 5pm, most of our guests were in the shade without the sun in their eyes. We loved the tented space for our reception and the beautiful dark wood farm tables. We had around 80 guests and the space did not feel too big that we didn't fill it.
We stayed at the farmhouse on location for the entire weekend (upgraded to stay one extra night) and our wedding party stayed at an AirBnB Aurora Cellars suggested just 200 yards down the road. It was so nice to not have to worry about transportation and we could quickly run into the house for anything we needed.

We are from Chicago and hosted our daughters wedding at Aurora Cellars. It was outstanding. We had so many people tell us that this was their favorite wedding venue ! The staff is great and very resonsive to emails. We also hosted the rehearsal dinner at the winery building ( food was brough in taco bar and they shut the winery down for out event). We stayed on property in farmhouse and it made it a stress free weekend. They gave us a walk through the day prior and everything was in place , the kids loved the wedding. Jan took the time to find out what kind of wines we normally enjoyed and was so knowledgeable in all the wines available, she was able to recommend wines we’d all love with a variety of tastebuds. We’ve visited Verterra Winery in the Leelanau Peninsula multiple times in the summer, and it has quickly become one of our favorites! The wine is fantastic—we especially love their sweet white wines. The owner (now in his 80’s is retired) but his legacy continues in this amazing culture. Was out favourite stop of the trip! Our server was lovely (loved that there was table service), and the location is not just dog friendly but welcoming. The wines were our 2nd favourite, but getting to hear about the estate, wine maker, and family made for a better experience and is why we ended up staying longer and buying!
