Quebra Canela, located in Praia, Cape Verde, is a popular crescent-shaped beach known for its golden sands and crystal-clear waters. It is a hub for various water activities such as swimming, snorkeling, windsurfing, and kayaking. The beach is protected by cliffs and offers gentle waves that are ideal for both swimmers and beginner surfers. Additionally, Quebra Canela features dramatic rock formations that provide perfect spots for sunset watching.
Nice beach which locals enjoy. No shade at all, so if you want it you have to bring your own.🏖️ The dry dark sand can be hot for bare feet, so bring footwear. Also, since there are no showers or water, bring a bottle of tap water to wash your feet off when you leave. Great body surfing on the left end of the beach between the two big sets of rocks. But pay attention — we had two huge rogue overhead waves come in out of nowhere.

Sucupira Market, located in the heart of Praia, Cabo Verde, is a bustling and vibrant marketplace that offers an immersive experience into the colorful West African culture. Here, visitors can explore and discover the authentic Cape Verdean lifestyle while browsing through a wide array of products including produce, meat, clothing, electronics, footwear and local cuisine. The market's labyrinthine layout adds to its charm but can be overwhelming for some.
Sucupira is a great place to find everything you need. A mix of African cultures, you'll find fabric, souvenirs, cosmetics, food and more and also where you can catch the Hiace (how locals call the public van).
Suelly D — Google review
You will find A LOT, it is our version of a Flea Market, but not limited to, from phone repair, to the ladies who do the hair extensions to used good. Counterfeit is a reality so be aware. It is not the cleanest at all times, but I have definitely seen worse. During the week it operates inside the Sucupira Mall, but on Sunday you have the actual Flea Market for used and new goods, mainly from the US.

The typical Market. Best place to get some gifts People are friendly but they always will try to raise the values. Just negotiate never accept first prices. And try and see several places first before buying in just one.
Paulo G — Google review
Most beautiful, nice people, food, shoemakers, Taylor’s, nail studios. Clothes in an unbelievable variety, from colorful to monochromatic. Prices so low you won’t believe it. The most priceless experience are the beautiful people. Here, in the 51th country, I visited, I found the nicest people so far. Come and spend your money here. It‘s worth it.

It was fun to see such a historical lighthouse. Although i was disappointed to see the access door is locked to the highest level, asked the security guard about it, he said it's locked for visitors safety.

Tourists have to pay 2 euros per person and 5 euros for two people. I don't understand the language and have not received any explanation. Even when we climbed to the top, the scenery did not change. It was a disappointing experience despite the wonderful scenery in Cape Verde. But he was very kind. But if you need money, you should tell the tourists first. thank you.

Airport
Nelson Mandela Praia International Airport, established in 2005, is situated in the southeast of Praia Cape Verde. Travelers can conveniently settle the registration fee at passport control using a credit card upon arrival. Taxis are readily available and bargaining for a reasonable fare is recommended. The airport features souvenir stores before and after security, as well as functional ATMs in the arrivals area that accept foreign bank cards.
One of the best and coolest airports I have ever been to! Fast handling, clean! You can go outside after security and relax while having a drink :)
Sophie S — Google review
I'm only giving it 3⭐,because I was born in and love Cabo Verde... That being said, it's utterly ridiculous that as the country progresses, people are still being treated like cattle...We should be embarrassed and outraged. I don't believe Nelson Mandela intended for those who hold any position of authority to treat people in such a way... It's bad enough that I can rely on these conditions on the layover in Ponta Delgado: For once it would be nice to be appreciated in my Birthplace.
M D — Google review
Quite a negative airport experience. On arrivals, the queues to get out and through customs are insanely slow. Many people also skip and change lines and no one who cares to enforce any organization. I tried EASE before arrival but it provided an error screen. If you do have EASE, lucky you! You will get through pretty quickly. On departures it’s a very small waiting area, and very limited outlets only a few by the walls. At least they have free and fast wifi.
Y B — Google review
This airport gives a black eye to a good country and a great people. There's no airline or airline Alliance lounge. Full of flies. Snack bar area has no prices on anything. You have to ask each individual item because there's no menu or nothing written on the wall. I'm sorry I'm tired I'm not going to do that I'll take the rest of my spare change and bank notes home , throw them in the ocean next time I go to the beach. This place really makes me glad I'm leaving CV
El C — Google review
Very poor luggage handling. I came from Lisbon and waited 2 days for my luggage. The day it came, a wheel was broken off. Also, they barely have any food to eat when you are waiting at your gate. Although the atmosphere is nice. The handling luggage and places to eat are poor.
Anthony N — Google review
Overall a pretty solid airport and modern airport. When arriving, I was able to pay the registration fee at the passport control using a credit card, which was quite a blessing given that I had completely missed that it's expected to fill this out online several days before arrival. Taxis are available and make sure to bargain for a good price. There are a few souvenir stores both before and after security. The ATMs in the arrivals area worked perfectly with my foreign bank card.
Sean M — Google review
Nice little local airport. If you don't have any luggage, the process of boarding the flight is quick and easy. The officers here are very attentive to detail, so you better have all your documents ready 😁

Prainha Beach is a popular destination located south of the city center in Praia, Cape Verde. It's favored by locals and tourists and is surrounded by top-notch hotels. The beach offers a more secluded experience as it's nestled in a small cove surrounded by cliffs, making it perfect for those seeking intimacy away from the crowds. The clear waters are ideal for swimming and snorkeling. Families with children find it safe and enjoyable due to its calm waters.
Small beach where you find both locals and some foreigners. There are not many other options in Praia, so one might as well enjoy what is available. There are lifeguards the whole day and a coffee/restaurant with AMAZING food. There, you can use the toilets and the lockers. There are beds and chairs to rent. Some locals sell little souvenirs. The day we went was cloudy and a bit wavy but, as I mentioned, there are lifeguards to make you feel safer. I spent the whole day there and my kid had lots of fun.

The permanent exhibition offers descriptions in both Portuguese and English, providing insights into local traditions and music. Additionally, visitors can explore temporary exhibitions on topics such as local herbs and medicinal uses.
Such a wonderful museum honoring many historic objects created by te people of Cape Verde. Exhibition explanations were thoughtfully printed in English and French addition to Portuguese. The partial remaining ground level historic building structures are also quite lovely. Nice also to see local families with children enjoying the museum.

We really wanted to see the Ethno Museum and tried to visit this afternoon (Thursday 21 March '24). We tried to find it from the pedestrian street R 5 de Julho and from the next street (Av Amilcar Cabral), as Maps shows it between the two. Walked round the blocks and along all nearby side streets for half-an-hour this morning and we could not find it or any signs to it anywhere! ***GOOGLE***, please check the listing and make sure it is marked in the correct place and add a street address so we can get directions and actually find it.

Disappointing. Someone collected the contents of some village houses in 1995, added some very limited descriptions (most.of.which say "under research") and left it at that. There are a few video screens but placed in places and at a height that makes them hard to watch. The biggest disappointment iss that there are no historians or students in Cabo Verde to update and improve this tiny museum.

Nestled in the heart of Praia, the Fundação Amílcar Cabral is a treasure trove for anyone eager to delve into Cape Verde's rich history. This museum pays homage to the legendary revolutionary leader who played a pivotal role in Guinea-Bissau and Cape Verde's independence. Visitors can explore an array of captivating photographs and letters that bring historical narratives to life on a personal level. The reading room offers an intimate atmosphere, while the small library downstairs invites quiet reflection.
Praia's Fundação Amilcar Cabral, which honors the historic, heroic revolutionary leader of Guinea-Bissau and Cape Verde, includes a lovely, interesting museum with lots of diverse photos of Cabral and his supporters. There is also a nice small library downstairs, and upstairs when I visited, apparently there was a talk for Cape Verdean children.

Small but informative; 200 escudos to enter. Videos and photographs of Cabral. Emotional and inspiring. If possible, speak with someone who works there. They know a lot and are open to share.

We thought that it would contain more information related to the history of the country despite of the fact its focus on Amílcar Cabral's figure. The expositure is very very short. It is clearly not a "must"

The last time I used it, it provided a serene atmosphere for the meeting I had and I liked it. If you are the type that loves cycling or skating, it is also a good place ro ride or practice. It's not just about the tunes; Quintal da Música also offers an exquisite taste of local culture through its authentic cuisine and fine wines sourced from the nearby island of Fogo.

This outdoor bar and restaurant boasts stunning views next to one of Praia's most beloved beaches, making it an ideal spot for unwinding after a long day.
The place overall didn’t impress me much (at night), but I’ll rate the food now. I think the portions were generous and the food was delicious. I know it was a lot of calories, but they were “delicious calories,” which is perfectly acceptable for a weekend dinner. :)

Location: 5/5 The restaurant is located by Beachfront, which is a key location. Inside seating arrangement: 4/5 The layout of the settings is thoughtfully arranged. Partial private booths, seating for multiple people, and areas with sofa seating are available. Overall, it is a good arrangement. However, it could be improved. Music: 2/5: I can not comment on the music since the selection is personal. I think the music selection is great and holds the vibe. However, the sound keeps disconnecting and needs system improvement. Service: 1/5 Since I do not speak Portuguese, selecting from the menu and communicating with the servers was difficult. I ordered a beer, coffee, and a stake. The beer came immediately, but the coffee never showed up. The stake came after 15 min. Most importantly, I don’t know if it is because of language or being black; I felt the attention was not the same to me as the servers had for others. Besides, even if I paid before I got up from my seat, one of the servers called me just before I exited the restaurant to ensure I had paid, and I felt discriminated against. Food: 1/5: I couldn't eat the beef because it smelled spoiled. I also only ate half of the sides, and the side salad didn't have dressing. Overall: 2/5 In general, I was not happy about the food and the service.
G. T — Google review
We went there for NYE and it was a real disaster! First they proposed a fixed menu; we agreed on it and it was fine but then they told us the menu is no longer available we have to order a la carte. Ok we adapt. One hour after ordering the food they told us the only option would be set menu ! Wine glasses smelled like the previous cocktail; barely washed and dirty. Do not recommend at all !

The beach isn't really suited for tourists. The entrance is hard to find, and unfortunately, there are piles of garbage around, which is a big downside.
