Had the cheese fondue as an appetizer, which was the best part of the meal. The gratin and lamb dishes that followed were incredibly average - I had to verify with the server if I got the right dish because the lamb was flavourless and not tender at all. She was nice enough to replace the pasta with another dish and tried her best. Flies also a problem as others have stated.

We had such a wonderful dinner here today. We ordered the Mongolian dinner. It comes with a salad from the bar. The options were really good. Our server was very kind and made our dinner so pleasant. The atmosphere is beautiful and made all the difference with the small town vibe. The Virgin mojito was delicious and so refreshing. We also had soft serve ice cream and the pistachio tiramisu which was also the perfect end to our dinner. We also actually came to Barry’s in the afternoon for fondue which was a nice Swiss experience. Definitely will be back before we leave Grindelwald.

This was my first time having fondue. I was surprised at how light the cheese was; it didn't feel overwhelmingly fattening or heavy. Our waitress provided helpful guidance for which sides paired nicely with the cheese. We had just enough for four people in our party. We also came to celebrate a birthday, and they provided a little dessert. The cocktails were fresh as well, though slightly pricey. Visiting was worth the experience!

First time visiting Grindelwald and saw that Barry’s was the best so I booked a reservation for my boyfriend and I to come and enjoy some fondue and this exceeded my expectations. Melanie especially is so amazing. She is so warm and welcoming and did everything to make this experience awesome! So awesome we came back the next day without reservations and she was nice enough to seat us. I recommend this place to anyone who is looking for that traditional Switzerland dining experience and a nice warm welcome from Melanie!

We went there on Saturday evening to have a dinner - without reservation, it was full but we were able to make a reservation and come again in one hour. The staff at the reception as well as the service staff were very nice. We ordered burgers and they were tasty. The overall atmosphere was pleasant and we felt good there😊 Thank you

Our experience here was so great we ended up returning a second night in a row. The first night we had the fondue which was excellent, and the whole experience was enhanced by our amazing server Muna who made my birthday extra special with a chocolate muffin and sparklers. The second night we had two salads off the menu and we enjoyed the food immensely. A great spot in Grindelwald with something for everyone!

We had dinner in a Friday. The outdoor seating was phenomenal with views of the eiger. It was cool and a great spot. We ordered the beef burger with fries and they were delicious. They add a tomato relish of sorts that adds great flavor. We also had two large beers. Haini, Yannick and joana really Made our experience great. Thank you all for the hospitality.

We just had a lovely meal at this place. Beetroot Soup with Sausage and Lemon Grass Soup with Bread, accompanied with white and red wine. Didn't have a lot of expectations, but we were both pleasantly surprised. Lovely and friendly staff. And oh, the view is spectacular!

How should you order here? Stick with the soup and sandwich. The soups are good. In fact the lemongrass soup is phenomenal…One of the best I’ve ever had. The zucchini soup was mid. Get the curry sandwich. Our group liked the raviolis fine too. But save some calories for the desserts. The strawberry shortcake one was the fave. Big reason for not having 5 stars was that they have very limited gluten free options. Bit the lemongrass soup is GF. Get it!

First of all, the service was slow since there was only one server (that I could see) attending to all of the diners but she did the best that she could and she was very friendly. Second, tap water cost CHF 2 just so you are aware. We ordered the steak with salad and the ravioli (tomato mozzarella and pesto). I ordered the ravioli because everyone raves about it. I thought it was good but not great. I was expecting the pasta to be creamy but it wasn’t. It had a good flavor but I think the pasta was just a bit too al dente for me. The steak was good and salad and salad dressing were tasty. The potatoes au gratin that came with the steak was delicious. They also gave us a basket of bread and it was very fresh and fluffy. My husband also got a glass of red wine and the total cost was CHF 80 which I felt was reasonable. Overall good food and reasonable price. Side note: not sure if it was just the time of the year but we had to constantly swat flies from ourselves and our dinner.

The view in this cafe restaurant is amazing. The service was good and efficient. The food was also very tasty even thoug we got here later and couldn’t get the meal of the day. They do have other cold and warm dishes though. I recommend you to stop by and have a look.

Best cafe to head to for brunch or tea break. My wife and I ordered the Ravioli, and two other cakes which the staff recommended to try as they are very "Swiss". The Ravioli was tasty with generous fillings, and the cakes were the best we had in Switzerland. The staff there were really nice and friendly. We felt very welcomed there. Limited free parking is available behind the restaurant. Also, right behind the restaurant you can get amazing views of the mountains!!

This is a cute little cabin/restaurant tucked near the main road. It has a large drinks menu and limited food menu. However, food is beautifully presented and tasty. We got the lemongrass soup (very unique), mixed salad and their special (scallops and shrimps). Their desserts are sooo yum! Overall, a great experience.

Cozy restaurant serving delicious Swiss food. They are also famous for their ravioli which has very clean and light flavours. They have limited seats and was pretty packed when we went but the wait wasn’t too long. Located on the way from Grindelwald station to First station. The view out of their courtyard is just magical.

We visited at night and found the food to be filling and delicious. They also packed our takeaway nicely, which was appreciated. However, the service wasn’t great — it felt like the staff had just had a disagreement with another customer before we arrived. Since it was nighttime, there wasn’t much of a view, so the atmosphere felt like any other regular restaurant.

We ordered multiple mains to share and thought they were all pretty tasty. Nice tasting naan 🫓 Great service! Will be back

The service was good and food was delicious the only thing I would say is that the chicken curry had leg meat rather than chicken breast which is the gold standard. The portions of curry were reasinable with large boiled rice overing naan bread as an option would be more desirable. As the naan bread the price was excessive usually you pay 3.50chf for a naan bread but here it was over 6 chf.

Absolutely loved my experience at Golden India Restaurant in Grindelwald! The food was incredibly delicious — full of rich, authentic Indian flavors and perfectly spiced. I really appreciate that they serve halal food, which made the experience even better. The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, and the restaurant is very clean. The staff were so kind, polite, and always smiling. Definitely one of the best Indian restaurants I’ve tried in Switzerland. Highly recommended! 🌟

We went to Golden India on a Sunday evening. We were actually trying to go to the pizza spot, uncle tom's across the street but it was closed, so we said why not eat some Indian Halal. Walking in I asked if the food was halal, but didn't get much of an answer, I Asked again and did. The day before I went to a pizza spot and the worker told me the CHICKEN at Golden India is halal. We ordered 2 dishes - butter chicken, spicy chicken, a couple of naan and a coke. Our total came out to $100. That's the bare minimum you're going to pay in Switzerland, but as an American that definitely is above budget. $40 for a small bowl of butter chicken is not normal. But then again, im in a different country, where everything is expensive, so you can't blame the restaurant the killer is the 6 francs for naan. thats $9! for a naan! Food was good, service was cool, ambiance was alright, good amount of people in there for a Sunday night.

After visited First, we decided to go for Golden India after reading many good reviews online. The food is good, Sydney is very friendly and helpful by suggesting recommended food. Our Asian tummy is very happy.

It was rainy cats and dogs, we as returned clients ordered for their pizzas & pasta for our dinner. We were truly amazed by Lucia, whom served us with full of smiles and friendliness on both occasions, such an attentive and efficient staff. Pizza and pasta were delicious and excellent. The owner, please give Lucia a big raise. She is such an asset of your restaurant. Thank you!

I will list out the pros and cons. But overall, I think the pros greatly outweigh cons and I think you should stay here! Cons 1. Our room is on the ground level and right outside our window were people walking around. Bring earplugs. 2. There is no AC 3. They only give you really small shampoo packets. I wish they would fix a bulk container to the shower wall. That is more sustainable. 4. There is no microwave or fridge or kettle. Pros 1. EVERYONE that I met here is so unbelievably lovely. I look forward to seeing Jennifer in the mornings and her making me a wonderful cappuccino. 2. The room is very big. Ours has two desks, two wardrobes, and a large couch. 3. I loved breakfast. I thought it was delicious with a good spread of yogurt, called meats and cheese and eggs and bacon, and the most delicious croissants. given how expensive everything is here it’s a steal. 4. The location is excellent. 12 minute walk from the train station albeit a slight hill. Hotel, also will give you a pass for free buses which you can take from the train station to the hotel. It’s about a five minute walk to Grindelwald first. 5. When we booked the price was great compared to other places

Extremely disappointing experience. We ordered two large pizzas — they arrived like rock-hard bread with barely any flavor. The cheese was unevenly spread and around 20% of the crust was burnt. The restaurant itself had an unpleasant smell, and to top it off, the staff was rude and inattentive. Definitely not coming back. Not recommended.

Free parking is available, and the location is convenient — about a 15-minute walk to Grindelwald station. The hotel provides a guest card for free local bus rides, and there’s a bus stop right in fornt of the hotel that goes to Grindelwald Terminal for Jungfraujoch or Männlichen. Breakfast includes coffee, tea, omelets, bread, cheese, and juice — tasty and filling. The in-house Italian restaurant (Ristorante Pizzeria Da Salvi) serves authentic pizza and pasta at fair mid-range prices for the area. Rooms are spacious, very clean, and comfortable. Staff are friendly and helpful, especially at reception — they waited for our late check-in and assisted with parking. Overall, a great place we’d gladly stay at again.

The first hotel and reservation for Alliance gemeinde church meeting in Grindelwald. The wine and café is perfect 👌. One can, two is not needed, three is too much.

While visiting Grindelwald, we came across a beautiful restaurant that immediately charmed us. Inside, we were welcomed by a warm, cozy, and home-like atmosphere. The staff were very kind and attentive. We had pizza for dinner – and I must say, it was excellent. The crust was thin and wonderfully crispy. A big plus was the option to choose the size of the pizza. To finish, we couldn’t resist dessert – a sweet ending that perfectly rounded off the evening. An ideal place for a peaceful dinner after a day spent in the mountains. We’d love to come back.

This restaurant has a warm welcoming and cozy atmosphere making it a great place to enjoy the meal. The pizzas were delicious with perfect balance of crispy crust and flavourful sauce. Being a vegetarian, there were few options for us, so we ordered Margherita and Ala diavola pizza and both were authentic yummy wood fired pizzas. The staff was very friendly. Would love to visit this place again sometime when in Switzerland.

​A fantastic spot! The staff was incredibly friendly, and the pizza was amazing—especially the Margherita. The real standout, though, was the vanilla ice cream with pumpkin seed oil. The nutty, rich flavor of the dark green oil pairs surprisingly well with the sweet creaminess of the ice cream. I honestly regret not ordering a second one!

We had one of the best homemade-style pizzas we’ve eaten in a long time! The crust was perfectly crispy, while the inside was juicy and generously topped. The balance of flavors was spot on rich, fresh, and incredibly satisfying. The lady serving us was warm, welcoming, and very kind. Even the local beers were surprisingly good! Cozy atmosphere and amazing food highly recommended if you’re in Grindelwald!

Really enjoyed our lunch at this restaurant. The pizzas were great. We also really enjoyed the cheese starter. Good portion for the dishes, and service was good and efficient.

This was by far one of the best pizzas I have ever had. If the restaurant had been open the next day we would have come back again it was that good! Now that I'm home I am still thinking about this pizza!

The only good thing about this restaurant is that its location. Overlooking the Swiss alps while dining is such an incredible experience. The food however, was a letdown. October 10, 2025, Friday at around 2pm. We ordered roasted pork and the gravy was good. Generous size as well. Is this something we would order again? No. Wasn’t the best. In addition to the roasted pork, we also ordered the curry with chicken. This was the worst curry chicken I have tasted in my entire life. It’s just cuts of chicken and onion and they poured the curry sauce on top of it. It tasted like the curry sauce was from a carton or can. It wasn’t authentic. Happiness and fun were their goal as seen in their menu but we didn’t feel happy nor we have fun because of their food quality. Not going back and unfortunately, cannot recommend this enough.

We had a meal at Bebbis in Grindelwald and overall it was a pleasant experience. The location is great and the service was friendly. Price-wise, it’s actually quite reasonable for Grindelwald, which was a nice surprise. The food itself was okay — average, nothing too special — but still satisfying after a long day outdoors. If you’re looking for a decent place to eat at a fair price in the village, Bebbis is a solid option.

The pork cordon blue is AMAZING! All the racklet cheese was delicious! The little salad on the side was lovely. My husband had the burger but liked my dish better. We sat outside with stunning views of the mountains .

I had a wonderful experience at Bebbis! The staff were extremely friendly and attentive, making the visit very pleasant. The restaurant is clean, cozy, and has a great atmosphere. Their chicken dishes are halal, which is a big plus, while the rest of the menu is not. Prices are reasonable, and the service is excellent. Highly recommend if you’re looking for tasty food with great hospitality!

Food was pretty good. The radler/panache (beer mixed with lemonade?) Was smooth and easy to drink as well. The indoor seating arent ventilated during March so it does get quite stuffy inside.

Good food. Great service. My wife ordered the Chicken Alfredo which was more like a stroganoff, but she loved it. I got the bratwurst on fries. Very good. The sauce tastes a lot like poutine sauce on my fries, which I liked!

I cannot say enough wonderful things about Hotel Kreuz & Post. My mom and I stayed here February ‘24 with our ski club. The entire trip was made incredibly special by our stay here. We had breakfast and dinner at the hotel every night and we were amazed at the culinary experience. The staff were so personal and had perfect recommendations. Our rooms were clean and the hotel had a really nice wellness center with a sauna. Simone was with us the entire week and also helped make us all feel at home.

Awesome view from the hotel! Extremely helpful staffs and adequate amenities in the room. Breakfast was sumptuous too! Very near to the train station with walking distance of just less than 5 mins. Plenty of options surrounding as well. Love staying here and will definitely book again when I return to Grindelwald!

Stayed at Hotel Kreuz & Post for 2 nights during our stay in Grindelwald. Rooms - 10/10 We got a free room upgrade! It was a beautiful 2 floor room with nice views of the mountains. It was very cozy as well. Service - 11/10 - our heater wasn't working properly, someone came and offered us an electric heater. Our wall outlet converter things weren't working, and they offered to use 2 of them! Location - 10/10 - a few steps from the Grindelwald train station, very convenient, and easy access to activities, hiking, etc. Also, you can hop on the bus from right outside the hotel! Things to note: As an American, this hotel is still pretty expensive. Room service will run you at least $40 per meal, and they will charge you 9 francs to deliver it to your room, so just pick it up yourself. Overall, I believe this is the best hotel to stay in Grindelwald. The breakfast was pretty standard as well. I look forward to coming back if I ever do come back to Grindelwald, this is where I'll stay!

Close to the train station, the Hotel Kreuz and Post is perfectly situated. But that is really just the start. The rooms are spacious and the restaurant is wonderful. Even better than all the amenities though are the staff. "Helpful" hardly begins to describe it. Specifically I want to call out Ahmed and Suly. Its easy to be all smiles when everything is going well. However our reservation had a serious flaw and these two worked diligently to get it all worked out. They were very professional in the midst of a difficult situation. We are very appreciative of their efforts.

We absolutely loved this restaurant! Out of all the restaurants we visited on this trip, this was definitely the best tasting, quality, and value! I got the Sirloin Steak and the yummy mango and strawberry ice cream! Monique was our server and she was the absolute best! She was so sweet and helpful. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to ANYONE AND EVERYONE!

Hotel Kreuz & Post in Grindelwald and absolutely loved it. The room was perfect for three people—spacious and cozy, and it gave me such a warm feeling, almost like staying at my grandparents’ house. The location is fantastic, just near the train station, which makes getting around so easy. And the view… honestly, it’s breathtaking. Waking up to those mountains was the highlight of the trip. The customer service was very friendly, and the breakfast was great—lots of variety and everything tasted fresh. The only small downside is that the lift is a bit tiny, but it’s not a big issue at all.

Came here for a family dinner and overall had a great experience! The waitress was super fun and talkative and had great recommendations for wine and dessert. We didn’t have a reservation but they were able to seat us quite promptly! Would recommend this place for a date night or special occasion.

Went for Fondue, not to stay. Overall a beautiful hotel in the prime location in town, just a stroll from the train station. I have five times five stars for our waiter, but only two for the location of our fondue. Javier was a fabulous waiter. The very best gentleman! Caring, considerate, polite, attentive. Give the man a raise. The location of our fondue though… APPALLING. Looking on the web prior to booking, it looked like an absolutely perfect thing to do to enjoy a sunset fondue in one of their old ski gondolas overlooking the fabulous, earth-shattering view of Grindlewald. Don’t do it folks - it’s a scam. Yes you in an old gondola, but you are tucked away behind the hotel with a marginal view of a minimal part of the region. Like some grimy afterthought. Not at all the image they cook up in their marketing! Such a shame for what otherwise would clearly be a five-star hotel. I can’t rate anything else about the hotel (other than 10 stars for its view), but don’t waste a single penny on a fondue there. Go walk onto the patio, take some photos, and then spend your money on some much nicer place in town.

I really enjoyed spending three nights at this hotel. They have a beautiful view of the mountain. Their service is excellent, and they are very friendly in their dealings. The hotel is also close to the train station. Their breakfast menu is wonderful, and I also recommend trying their pasta from the room service.

We had a truly wonderful experience staying at the hotel, especially at the hotel bar and Gondola Fondue - we highly recommend trying it! Hotel Spinne was perfect for our stay. The rooms were well sized and had everything we needed. The location was very central, easy walk to the train station and the bus station was across the street. The breakfast was amazing! Many options, homemade omelets and served early every morning. The spa was very nice, clean and well kept. The star of the show was the infinity pool with a view of the Eiger, just wow! We will definitely be staying again!

We stayed at Hotel Spinne and it completely blew us away. The views alone are worth the trip...stepping onto our balcony and seeing the Eiger right in front of us felt unreal, like a postcard come to life. The rooms were spotless, cozy, and comfortable, but what really set this place apart were the amenities and the people. The spa is next-level: sauna, steam room, relaxation spaces, and the infinity pool which is heated, outdoors, staring straight at the mountains. Floating in the pool while staring at the Eiger is something we’ll never forget. Every single staff member we interacted with was warm, helpful, and genuinely seemed to love working there. That kind of positive energy makes a huge difference and adds to the whole experience. The included breakfast was also phenomenal! We tried a couple restaurants in the area for dinner but nothing compared to the hotel's restaurant...my mouth is watering with the memory. Our waiter, Philipp, was awesome! If you’re considering staying in Grindelwald, stop considering the other 3 hotel choices in the area and book your stay at Hotel Spinne. Between the views, the spa, breakfast, restaurant and the hospitality, Hotel Spinne is pure magic. We will definitely be staying here each time we visit!

Very very good hotel. The infinity pool looking out to the mountains was a particular highlight. The breakfast was lovely and the options perfect for a full day of hiking. We could have such a big breakfast that we often could skip lunch which was obviously a nice saver. All the staff where lovely and couldn't be nicer and more helpful. We went to the attached restaurant one evening and the food was very nice. It's perfectly located within the middle of Grindlewald and allowed us to do multiple hikes but travel to nearby areas too. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the hotel to anyone visiting the area

A brilliant stay at hotel Spinne. The rooms are fantastic and the view from our balcony was stunning. The infinity pool as other guests have mentioned really makes the hotel stand out as exceptional alongside their excellent spa facilities. Very good breakfast and all staff were very friendly and accommodating. I would highly recommend to anyone staying in Grindelwald.

The views of the Eiger can't be beat from the hotel rooms. It could use a renovation as the rooms, furniture, and bathrooms look dated. But, the service was exceptional. People working there are very friendly. Great breakfast with an omelette station. Very short walk to the Grindelwald train station and Grindelwald First.

Since I wasn’t using international messaging or phone services, their quick replies made everything smooth and stress-free. Compared to other hotels that often take 24–48 hours to respond, Hotel Spinne stood out with their efficiency and care. Highly appreciated!

The pool and spa are spectacular. The breakfast is also very good. The view from our room with the outdoor area was also very nice. The room itself was comfortable however old and outdated.

We also greatly appreciated the late check-out today, which allowed us to enjoy a quick two-hour hike in the morning, freshen up, and depart by 1 pm, it truly made all the difference. Good dinner. We sat on the patio enjoying the weather and the view. (It is on the main street so expect pedestrian & vehicle traffic and noise.) Salads were fresh. Tried the Swiss dish, Älplermagronen, while good there are other Swiss dishes we have enjoyed more. Service was attentive. We were not rushed after our meal was completed. If you would prefer the check sooner it is appropriate to ask.

The rooms were nice, but unfortunately customer service was the worst I have experience in quite a while. Long check in time, no personal service and multiple misunderstanding and mix ups with collection from the station. The manager at the main hotel was very unhelpful and not apologetic at all. Certainly not the prompt and timely Swiss service I expected. Pinte has a coffee area on the landing however they were out of cups and coffee over 2 days. Overall very disappointing considering the price we paid. If you just want a room for the night this is your place.

Just shocking. Wouldn't call it a hotel. Massively over priced. No customer service, impossible to navigate. Bed was hard as rocks. Walls so thin we were kept up all night from people just talking next door. No coffee or tea in the rooms. Just don't waste your time or money. Gutted we wasted our night and had the worst sleep ever.

Had a spectacular dinner at Hotel Pinte Grindelwald restaurant. Matilde our server was a gem and recommend this establishment for lunch or dinner!

This hotel will meet all your needs. I'd pay or atleast ask for a room with a view, as this really boosted our stay, the views from my hotel room were beautiful. Breakfast is basic, but does the job. Some staff friendly, others quiet. Rooms clean, and were fine. beds were great for me and had good sleep. If your in a wheel chair, hard mobility or have heavy luggage, the lift access is through the restaurant, pass the bar. Not sure how this is used later in the night, when the restaurant is closed, as this is the only way to access the lift (elevators).

We stayed from 4 to 9 Sept 2025 and were pleasantly surprised with our stay. Rooms were cleaned and fresh towels every day. Staff were so nice and helpful from checking to restaurant to room service . I needed a small screwdriver to fix my suitcase and it was no problem. Location across from bus and train stations makes travel easy. Close to shops and good for an afternoon drink and people watching. Food at breakfast and restaurant is excellent. Very happy to recommend Bert and Annie

We had a wonderful stay at Central Hotel Wolter. Our room was spacious, the bed was super comfy, the views absolutely breathtaking and breakfast was yum, but the restaurant food was truly astounding. A special mention to Lukas at reception who went above and beyond to make our stay a breeze. He was so kind, welcoming and incredibly helpful. His warm hospitality really stood out and made our time in Grindelwald even more enjoyable. Highly recommend this hotel for anyone visiting the area.

Perfect place to stay when the weather is cool and pleasant. The location and rooms are excellent, and the breakfast is quite good. It’s super convenient to go anywhere, and best of all — right across the street you get a breathtaking 180° view of the snow-capped mountains! 😍

We stayed at Central Hotel Wolter for 3 nights. We were a family of four and had connecting rooms. These family rooms are on the side of the building with amazing views. Waking to this epic scenery was definitely a highlight of our trip. The location is amazing, near both the bus and train stations and a few steps from Coop the supermarket. The breakfast buffet was delicious. Luca, the night manager was extremely friendly and helpful with local knowledge. If you are looking for a good priced, well located hotel, look no further

We visited the hotel restaurant, and the food was delicious. We sat outside, enjoying the gorgeous views of the Swiss Alps! I ordered the vegetable soup with croutons, and it was incredibly flavorful and served piping hot. I absolutely loved it! My daughter wanted a burger, but she was disappointed to find out that they only serve burgers until 1:30 PM, and we arrived at 1:50 PM. My husband ordered the farmer's sausage, and he was pleased with his meal. Service and atmosphere were beautiful!

Great hotel with a great breakfast. Very happy that they had bacon & eggs, by far the best hotel breakfast I’ve ever had anywhere in Europe. Crossaints were nice, warm, & fresh. Rooms are great, balcony was nice and covered. They give you local body lotion, shower gel, and shampoo. Felt like a much nicer hotel than a 3 star. The location is about a 2-3 minute walk from station, extremely close and convenient & next to COOP (grocery store) which made meals easy & cheap (they have a microwave there). Pro Tip: Enter through their restaurant for their elevator. We didn’t see the sign when we walked in and saw the stairs. 5/5 - Would definitely stay here again if i’m in the Jungfrau region

Our family of four had an incredible stay at Hotel Fiescherblick in October 2025. The hotel's location is ideal—close enough to easily access all of Grindelwald's attractions yet tucked away from the busy city center for a peaceful experience. It's just a five-minute walk to the First gondola and other popular spots, and the free bus makes getting around effortless. The room was perfect for us, with a comfortable king bed and bunk beds that our teenagers loved. Every staff member went above and beyond to make us feel welcome, providing outstanding service throughout our stay. The food was absolutely delicious, would highly recommend booking a reservation in the hotel restaurant for an incredible meal. The food and accompanying wine were absolutely fantastic. We can't recommend Hotel Fiescherblick highly enough—it's truly a special place with an amazing team!

Honestly one of the best hotels I’ve ever stayed at. Lars and his entire team made us feel so welcome. Our room was perfect with a terrace overlooking the Wetterhorn. The sauna and onsen were heaven after our long hikes. The food at the restaurant was impeccable and we loved the little stories that came with each dish. Also the laundry room is a big perk especially if you’re doing a lot of hiking. I hope we can visit again soon!

We loved our stay there—the service was amazing. Eva was very helpful in recommending and helping us plan our stay at Grindelwald. The kitchen staff were amazing too. We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner there and the food presentation. I was surprised by how good the non-alcoholic beverage pairing was!

What a wonderful hotel! Beautifully furnished and comfortable - eco conscious and scandi design. The setting was perfect with amazing views. All the people were very friendly and helpful with good local knowledge and advice. Comfy bed, great shower, excellent breakfast and coffee- what more can you ask! We will definitely return.

You can tell the owners and team love this beautiful Swiss spot. It's shows through in every aspect of the Fiescherblick experience. Stayed 4 nights, enjoyed great, plentiful breakfasts, wellness area is nice. Their restaurant is one of a kind, must try tasting menu using locally sourced ingredients. The staff have time to answer anything you need. The best!!

Very nice hotel, with friendly and attentive staff. The front desk staff were so helpful with providing suggestions and information, they really go above and beyond. Comfortable beds, and extra pillows were available upon request. Their family room was comfortable for our family of four. Bring ear plugs because those cows with bells are very cute in the day, but you won’t be thinking that when they keep you up at night with all of the jingling.

My wife and I had a fantastic stay at this hotel. Our room was beautiful, comfortable, spacious, and had great views of the valley. The staff was the real highlight for us. They were very personal and helpful. It's clear they are passionate about the quality of their hotel. We also did the tasting menu at the restaurant, which was interesting and inventive. Service was top notch but I would caution that the entire experience took a little less than 3 hours (which felt like a lot for an 8 PM reservation) and that the price was very high. Overall we enjoyed the experience.

Wonderful place with a stunning view from the window. Shared bathroom and shower - super clean. You can walk in the cliff in clouds when no one is there (after 6 pm). Mirka at reception (which is bar as well) is fantastic lady . Highly recommend at least of one night

I spent my birthday at this place, and everything was absolutely perfect! I loved the stunning view from the mountain hostel and the restaurant. The highlight for me was definitely the dinner — it was very, very, very good! I truly enjoyed every bite. A wonderful experience overall!

I didn't stay there overnight, but the service was very good at the restaurant and the food was delicious. I would reserve beforehand though, as me and my godmother did, because there are a lot of tourist up there. There's also a buffet, but the tables are different for that, they don't have für on them, but we ordered from the menu, so I don't know what they offer. The restaurant had a vegan menu, which was nice for me and my godmother as vegetarians and vegans respectively. They also had Swiss dishes, like Rösti or Raclette, which made us happy as Swiss people. We would definitely recommend the Rösti with Raclette cheese, it's delicious! The Streusel with Rabarber and Berrys was also very good. I would also recommend, if you're also eating outdoors, to wear warm enough clothes even if they have a blanket on the seats. The view is stunning from there, so the money and the cold is definitely worth it though!

Everything was delicious and there wasnt anything that I disliked. You have to try the local dish, I forgot whats its name, the macaroni and minced meat. Wow that was good. The service was very good also as well. We were attended by a male server who was from Germany.

We had our lunch in this great hotel restaurant. The waiter Amis is very kind and passionate. He helped my mom for refilling hot water twice. The food is very nice!

We took the cable car up to Berggasthaus First and had such a memorable experience! The food was delicious, the fries were a bit salty, but everything else was great. The view is absolutely stunning, surrounded by majestic mountains. The waiter was incredibly friendly and full of energy, he kept complimenting us on how beautiful we were and even helped take some lovely photos for us. A warm, fun, and scenic stop high up in the Swiss Alps!

An unforgettable experience staying at the guesthouse with the most friendly staff! After the cable car closes, you have the mountain to yourself with the most amazing view. The 3-course dinner you can order was great value. But what made the stay most memorable was the staff that always met us with the most friendly smile and went out of their way to make our stay great!

This place is super cozy and the view is outstanding. They have beer from tap and Grindelwald local bier. You can pay 10 euros or 10 CHF to park here and enjoy the trail

You'd have to take a bus from Grindelwald town to get here. The views here are amazing. Try to request for outdoor seating as youll have the best mountain views infront of you. There is a mixture platter of everything from egg to cheese and cold cuts. Id highly recommend to order their omelette as well, it was really tasty! The owners were very friendly too. Great service!

Lovely place up above Grindelwald, you can take a bus or walk up. The service was the best, very warm and friendly welcome. Some interesting and creative food with local ingredients. I definitely recommend this cafe to visit should you happen to visit Grindelwald. Charming woodworks, cozy vibe, and a stunning view of the mountains. It is a small uphill trek from the town but it is definitely worth it. Unfortunately, we were late for the lunch service (which ends at 2 PM) so we settled for coffee and cakes which were very delicious BTW. The people running the establishment were very friendly. I hope to visit again if I ever go back.

In good weather, their lunchtime is very busy. Reservations are required in advance for the most of terrace or indoor window seats. One of the servers was a bit cold, hectic and served half of our drinks wrong, but we didn't wanna break the good sunny vibe so we just kept them. We spoke it to another server afterward and she was friendly and accommodating during the food service and checkout. The quality and portion of the food is very good. The menu seems to change from time to time. I enjoyed the salmon dish the most.

This restaurant offers a variety of fondue, they come with a few small dishes but they are not quite enough to make one full, it’s best to order the add-ons or something else to go with the fondue. The service was excellent, staff were friendly. Location is perfect too, just outside the train station, in the centre of the town.

We had a lovely dinner here as a group of 4. Anabela was very attentive, professional & cheerful. We didn’t get the fondue but enjoyed our veal, pasta, carpaccio, roast beef, prawns & chicken.

We ordered a rib steak and it was cooked to perfection! We asked for medium rare and it was delicious. The service was fast and no reservations required. The atmosphere is you can sit outdoors or indoors and it’s very close to the train station. We were just on a walk for the day and found this place after staying in Grindelwald for two days. I was craving a steak and I have to say that this is the best steak I’ve had on vacation so far and I’ve been to Prague, Greece, and Italy for steaks so far. The only bad part was that it was raining, but fortunately we were under a covered area!

Was disappointed by this experience here. There was a bit of language barrier with the german speaking waitress as her English was very condescending. We waited over 35 minutes for just a simple fondue which is unacceptable given that the restaurant was empty. This place lacks cleanliness and basic hygiene as there was leftover fries and bread on the floor and we could hear the crunching of the leftovers under our feet. However…. The food is delicious. The fondue is simple yet capturing and the roasted beef dish was great. The mashed potatoes were the highlight with a very savory flavor mixed with bacon bits. The dishes were well-balanced and this restaurant definitely would be a 4 or 5 stars if the service and cleanliness was improved.

The service is terrible and ridiculous. The staff who called Sylvia is extremely impatient and impolite. I suspect either the staff or the restaurant is RACIST. Only the guy staff treats us well. I was having the fondue and still chewing my food, Sylvia kept asking us whether we finished or not. That’s terrible and super rude to us. Also, when I was still looking at the menu, she looked so impatient and kept coming to us to see whether we will order the food or not. However, this Sylvia acted so nice to the Japanese couple, she will ask how’s their food and told them there is a festival nearby when the Japanese couple asked for the bill. Though I did not ask for those information, I can feel the attitude is super different from other table. Never gonna go to this restaurant again. The worst experience ever.

We had a very nice diner here for my husband Birthday. The cheesefondue was excellent. They also had gluten-free bread. The service was very friendly.

Came here after reading about the fondue recipe. To borrow from a coffee advertisement: it's good to the last drop. They were able to seat us right away even though we came in without a reservation. We asked to sit outside and there was a lovely breeze. The staff was great and helped us pick a delicious wine to pair with the fondue. Service was quick and friendly. It started raining, and while the awning mostly kept us covered, the staff came over to help us adjust a bit. Then we got an ice cream for dessert, and it was also terrific. It's right by the train station and it was fun to see all of the people coming and going. And while a few other places we'd eaten seemed to have a fly problem, we didn't have any issues here (maybe the breeze helped?). Terrific experience overall! You can tell they really know and appreciate cheese.

We ate at the restaurant and the food was great! We had the burger and it very delicious and packed with flavor! The fries were also flavored quite nicely. The staff was so great and very attentive. Alexandra was out waitress and she was above and beyond. Everyone else was also spectacular. Recommend eating here having a nice beer with a great view.

We did not stay at the hotel, but the variety of food and drinks offered were mouthwatering! The Bike activities around here is also a MUST DO. It is extremely thrilling and adventurous!! Just check the weather conditions before leaving, as you won't be able to do the activities in dense fog. The views were absolutely ASTONISHING!!

Alpinhotel Bort is like a fairy tale! We absolutely loved our stay. The staff was so friendly and service was excellent. Our room was comfortable and large enough with 4 beds. The bathroom was just down the hall and private for just us. When the chair lift stops at 6pm you are just alone with other hotel guests. Breakfast is included in the morning and we could smell the freshly baking bread when we woke up. Its so serene and peaceful here. We wish we booked more nights at Alpinhotel as it was our families favorite hotel and the best meal we had our whole trip.

The staff was 10/10, they welcomed us with a warm smile, and really made our stay unforgettable. The hotel is located near the gondola, the room was clean and comfortable. the view from the hotel is like being in a dream. Thank u David , Quentin and Chili for being so nice and friendly.

What a thrilling experience driving to the Alpinhotel Bort! After a day of exploring, the day ended with a fabulous meal at the hotel with the most kind, helpful staff at dinner. Dori, our waitress, was kind, helpful and patient with our group of 6. It is was wonderful to feel so welcomed. She gave us time, and allowed us a chance to enjoy the wonderful menu at the hotel. Thank you Dori for making our trip extra special!

Did not stay here but stopped here fr a drink and snack. I got an unbaked apple strudel. Staff insisted it’s a cake and it’s fine as it is treating foreigners like people that have never tasted a strudel before !Stick to drinks at this location and avoid eating anything

Bort is a fantastic location, with great service and really high quality amenities. The view is fantastic and its a much nicer, quieter spot to stay outside of Grindelwald. You can drive to it as well.

Great Rosti and superb apple doughnuts...freshly made! Good for a break at the end of the long reds/blues down slopes towards Grindlewald. Right by the first train stop up on that side, so us good to go back up.

We got off from the train after visiting the Top of the Europe to have early lunch. The food was so delicious, and the best chickens I ever had. The view was great. We'll be going back there.

Right outside the train station, this restaurant is conveniently located as well as having amazing views. The meals were great and the service was excellent. The kids liked playing in the playground.

Stopped here for lunch during our hike up to Brandegg. Sat at the sunny terrace and quickly had the best pasta of the area. Thankful to have visited this restaurant. Would recommend!

I’ve visited here in summer and winter. The apple donuts in batter with vanilla sauce are excellent. This time I also had the Brandegg speciality coffee. It tasted great.

I ordered the 4-course meal and every dish was beautifully presented and delicious. Beef tenderloin cooked to perfect requested doneness. Even though it might have been a bit too much food for one person, I happily finished everything. Cocktail was delicious too. Both the exterior and interior were gorgeous. I initially sat outside but later moved inside to enjoy the best of both worlds. A big thanks to Carolina for her wonderful hospitality and for recommending this menu. I wouldn’t hesitate to go back. Highly recommend.

We had a fantastic experience at Restaurant Adlerstube! The food was absolutely amazing. Every dish was prepared to perfection. The kitchen and service staff were brilliant: professional, friendly, and clearly passionate about what they do. Thank you to the kitchen and service team for the fantastic experience. The entrecôte was a standout — perfectly cooked, full of flavor, and beautifully presented. The pumpkin risotto is from the new autumn menu, and it was delicious. It is rich, creamy, and full of seasonal flavor. For dessert, I highly recommend the poached pears in Port wine with almond foam. This is an elegant and perfectly balanced finish to the meal. The cocktails from the bar were delicious. A perfect complement to the meal and a great way to start the evening. I highly recommend Restaurant Adlerstube to anyone looking for an exceptional dining experience. I'll definitely be returning!

We were a group of 12 people and were attended to by Linda. We explained that 8 people were sledging and would arrived later. She was helpful in finding us a corner and reserving a table for the balance 8 people. She was very helpful, friendly and understanding. Great service from Linda which made our experience a pleasant one. We ordered different dishes - salmon, another type of fish, burgers, steak and fondue. The chestnut and cappuccino soup was really tasty. The potato and leak soup was a bit too salty for me. The restaurant is spacious and cosy. Overall, the food is good and tasty.

Absolutely recommending doing the hike where it takes you to this beautiful restaurant. It felt very very cozy and the food was simple but delicious. I had the barley soup which I absolutely love and there's also cheeses and beer. Absolutely a beautiful place to have a picnic lunch

We stopped at the cafe while walking down the mountain. Very handy for the Alpiglen station, which is right next door. Good service, nice food.

I was very fortunate to get to spend the night in this gorgeous location. The hot shower after four days of trekking was amazing. The hotel is cozy, food is delicious, and staff were very nice and helpful. It was especially nice to have a quiet evening here on the side of the mountain after most people had gone down.

Really great location on our hut hike. The room was sufficient, however, the bathroom shower was backing up and was pretty gross. Also, the main dining room has a fly infestation far beyond what I have recognized as normal in Switzerland. I feel like they should do something about it.

We stumbled upon Berghaus Alpiglen after a long hike from Eigergletscher to Alpiglen, and it was the perfect stop! Located right by the train station, it has limited food options, but it’s an amazing place to rest and enjoy lunch with stunning mountain views. The food was great, and the service was friendly. We ordered the melted cheese sandwich, which was huge—enough for two to share—and paired it with a fresh salad. After a tiring hike, this cozy spot was exactly what we needed! Highly recommend for hikers looking for good food and a relaxing break.

Great place to have lunch after having hiked the Alpiglen-Kleine Scheidegg-Eigergletscher-Alpiglen trail! Breathtaking views! Away from the super touristy kleine Scheidegg.. we finally felt that we are in a remote place in nature! The rösti were delicious!

Small restaurant and need to arrive early or make a reservation. Ordered yang zhou fried rice, stir fry beef in black bean sauce, curry vegetables and sweet and sour pork. The fried rice is flavorful. The sweet and sour pork is crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. Didn’t try the beef because I don’t take beef. But my hubby says the dish is delicious. Curry vegetables can give it a miss.

Given that you are in Switzerland and in the heart of touristy Grindelwald, expect the meals to be expensive. Having said that, if you are craving for Asian cuisine, this restaurant serves good Chinese food. Both the chicken with black pepper sauce and pork spare ribs were delicious.

This Restaurant is Seriously Underrated! As a Hong Konger, I was genuinely surprised by how authentic and delicious the food here is—every dish tastes just like home! The fact that everything is prepared by a Hong Kong chef truly shines through in the flavors. What made the experience even better? The chef went above and beyond when I mentioned my egg allergy, carefully asking about my restrictions to ensure every dish was safe for me to enjoy. That level of attention and care was truly heartwarming. On top of the amazing food, the service was outstanding. The waitress even spoke Cantonese, which made us feel incredibly welcomed and added such a warm, friendly touch to the dining experience. If you’re craving real Hong Kong flavors—or need a kitchen that takes allergies seriously—this place is a hidden gem you shouldn’t miss!

Best Chinese Cuisine Ever !!! 超級好吃的中餐 Very authentic, even better than many restaurants in Asia. Really appreciated when you can have good Asian food abroad.

We visited this small, cozy basement restaurant because it reminded us of our favorite place in Bangkok. It’s not a fancy or high-end establishment, but in Grindelwald — where Asian cuisine is extremely limited — it stands out for offering real, genuine Chinese food. We ordered the crispy duck, sweet and sour pork, beef fried rice, stewed vegetables, Mapo tofu, and extra white rice. The crispy duck was a standout — crispy, flavorful, and deeply satisfying. The Mapo tofu hit the spot as well; it wasn’t the best we’ve had, but it was comforting and well-prepared. The stewed vegetables were a bit bland on their own, but once mixed with the duck sauce, they became surprisingly rich and enjoyable. Overall, the food pleased everyone in our group, from age 9 to 70. There are a few quirks to be aware of: the restaurant charges CHF 2 per person for tap water, and while one portion of chili oil is complimentary, each additional portion costs CHF 2. We understand this may be a way to manage varying tourist expectations and habits, but it did feel a bit nickel-and-diming, especially considering the already high prices for Chinese food in the area. It’s a very small place — maybe eight tables total — so we strongly recommend making a reservation. Otherwise, arrive just before 6 p.m. when they open, as there is usually a line. Despite the extra charges, we thoroughly enjoyed our meal and would absolutely recommend this spot if you’re craving authentic Chinese flavors in Grindelwald. It’s a rare and satisfying find in a town where variety can be hard to come by.

Jasmine Garden is good, if you are craving Chinese food and can appreciate a more Westernized Chinese menu. Cantonese fried rice tastes pretty authentic. Mapo tofu and beef with black bean sauce have good strong flavors. Corn and chicken soup is satisfying. Dishes are a bit pricey (20-30 francs each) given the portion size, but cannot complain as this is the one of few Chinese restaurants in the region. Ambiance is okay: the restaurant is small and below ground, but quiet and clean.

During the ski season, this is the perfect location for ski-in/ski-out, and in the summer months you are surrounded by fantastic alpine meadows. The four studios are divided into three chalets and they are well maintained, spacious and kept very clean. However, there are no cooking facilities and cooking is not allowed. The hosts ensure that the stay is a positive experience. The rich and delicious breakfast is brought to the room/studio the evening before. Parking spaces for hotel guests are available at the hotel. The location is on the mountain and Grindelwald can be reached by post bus or car.

We had a lovely stay at the hotel here. The rooms are spacious, clean and well equipped with an extra bed, a coffee machine and a music player. The dining area is cozy and our family enjoyed having breakfast together here. The breakfast is a delightful spread of breads and bread spreads, fruits, cheese and juice among other items. The apartment that we had offered a lovely view of the mountains and the valley. We dined at the restaurant here on one of the evenings and the hosts were very warm and friendly. We ordered fish and chips, and Kinder Schnitzel. Me being a vegetarian, the hosts offered to make the Lasagne without meat. The ambience was amazing and we were all very happy with the meal. The next day we decided to leave our senior dog behind in the room as we wanted to go visit First Walk. The hosts were generous and understanding, and took him for a walk after we left. We were so relieved and cannot thank them enough. All in all a beautiful and lovely hotel and restaurant, and most importantly great people.

We had a wonderful stay in this peaceful accommodation surrounded by mountains and with a view of Grindelwald from our bedroom window. The accommodation was super clean, spacious and authentic. We looked forward to the breakfast baskets every morning and waking up to the views (and the friendly cows!). The service was very helpful making our stay easy.

Quintessential Switzerland. A beautiful, peaceful chalet nestled in rolling hills surrounded by Swiss Alps. The owners went above and beyond for us during our stay and dinner at the restaurant was superb! I cannot fault our stay. Super easy to get a bus in and out of town. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a place to sit back and bask in the beautiful scenery.

My husband and I had an absolutely superb stay at Hotel Jägerstübli! The location of this hotel is so picturesque and peaceful overlooking the rolling hills and wooden lodges. Our hosts were so kind and generous and went above and beyond for us. Our room was cozy, clean and the bathroom was lovely and modern. The cabin really felt like you were in true Switzerland with it's wooden lodge style. Grindelwald is such a beautiful place to unwind and just bask in the scenery and peace of the town!

We spend a few days at Jägerstübli, and we are delighted with the place, the food and the people. They are a beautiful couple that take care of everything, the rooms are spacious, clean and nice. The homemade food is worth the visit if you only come to the restaurant. Highly recommended.

1910 by Gourmet Hausers is located under the Belvedere Hotel. It was a vegetarian menu for the summer, and I could taste fresh basil, cucumber, carrot, eggplant, mushroom, rhubarb... everything that veggies has to offer. Great taste, great technique. They also offer three different pairings! (wine, beer, juice)

This was my husband and I’s first time eating at a Michelin Star restaurant and when I tell you we felt so spoiled. We decided to eat here while staying in Grindelwald for our honeymoon. It was literal heaven. The restaurant itself is so cozy and quaint, there are only 6 tables in the entire restaurant. When we went there were only 3 couples total (including ourselves) so it felt like we were truly cared for. The waiter was so kind and walked us through each course, answered our questions, and when we ordered some tea and mentioned how much we love tea (so much so that we gave it as favors at our wedding,) he brought us out some tea samples to take home. What was supposed to be 6 courses I believe, ended up being roughly 10-11 courses due to surprise moments in between. All of the food was absolutely incredible and I am still dreaming about the veal and roasted cabbage. The half wine pairing was the perfect amount for each course. Honestly, I feel as though 1910 deserves not one Michelin Star, but three. My husband and I are already wanting to travel back solely for 1910!

1910 is unlike any other Michelin star restaurant we’ve been to. Quaint surroundings, a limited number of tables, rustic decor - very unpretentious. The food - knocked it out of the park. We had their vegetarian menu and the technical detail put into each dish was very much appreciated. The non-alcoholic pairing with the meal enhanced the dishes. Our server, Killian, we could tell was passionate about the menu and providing great service. He was personable, always interacting, and even giving us insider tips about New Zealand travel. The end of the meal was capped by a visit from the chefs which is always a delight. Anyone visiting Grindelwald should not miss 1910.

It's a little bit weird to go all the way to Switzerland and sit in a hotel basement with no windows to eat your food. However, I think the point was to not distract you with the view so you could put all your focus on the food and the food was pretty darn good. My husband and did the beer pairing with our meal and I don't regret it. It was so fun and different. Our server really brought the meal to life. She was absolutely fantastic, very knowledgeable and very passionate. At the end of the meal, the chef came out and introduced himself and offered us a little surprise. We definitely ate some food that blew our mind and I understand why the restaurant has a Michelin star. However, I do not think that the food warranted an over $700.00 CAD bill. But I think if you're in Grindelwald, 100% you should go.

Very unfortunate that I feel the need to leave this 1 star review due to the horrid experience we had at the end of the meal. Upon settling the bill we were informed the credit card payment system crashed so we must pay in cash. We were first presented a bill that falsely charged us 6 tasting menus instead of 2, so we asked for it to be amended. Honest mistake that can be overlooked. Then we attempted paying with both our visa and Mastercards, which couldn’t go through because of the said system failure, which was fine. However we did not have enough cash as we were not informed of their issue beforehand, and dinner was around 400 Swiss francs. We asked if we could have an electronic payment link so we could settle it online right away. The waitress got visibly annoyed and frustrated, and took us to reception where they told us it could not be done, which was understandable. However it somehow became a standoff and we were treated like criminals after we explained we cannot withdraw Swiss francs from our bank accounts as we don’t have foreign exchange function. We already offered to let them take photocopies of our passports and full credit card details as well as our hotel info (also in Grindelwald), and to return the next day for payment once their system is fixed, and they could charge us or track us down anytime as they would have our credit card details. However the waitress became very hostile and said it was not a problem with any other guest as they all had enough cash. She demanded to keep our passports and said she’d hunt us down in Korea if we do not pay up (unfortunately this was not an exaggeration but what she said word for word in a hostile manner). First of all we’re not Koreans. Regardless of what that statement meant in her terms, we were shocked by the aggression as we were very polite throughout the exchange up till then. Secondly we already offered to leave every detail possible so they could charge us any time. We understand it was reasonable that they had to ensure customers do not get away with dodging the bill. However, the situation would’ve been handled much better had they told us before dinner so we could come to agreement on how to proceed, and the hostility was completely unnecessary as we already offered all info possible for them to charge us, and had we not checked the false bill, they would’ve expected us to settle it with 1200 Swiss francs in cash which is absurd. She finally gave in after another receptionist intervened. It was just an utter disappointment and ruined our mood for rest of the night which was supposedly a celebration of our anniversary. We returned to our hotel Bergwelt and asked our receptionists right away if they had the same issue, to which they denied. Anyhow we returned to Hotel Belvedere the next morning to settle the payment once they fixed the issue. We explained the incident to the lady at reception and she was very kind and understanding throughout. In all fairness, the food, ambience and kitchen team were lovely, so was the waiter who served us for most of the night. The menu was all vegetarian and reasonably priced, and the eggplant course was a highlight for us. The wine and non-alcoholic pairing were just alright and I’d suggest to skip. We would’ve given it 4-4.5 stars had it not been the nasty end. Having been to a number of Michelin starred restaurants, I’d have to say this subpar service had never and would not occur in any other starred hotel restaurant, and an individual rude staff is more than enough to ruin the entire experience for guests. Service is one of the few things that sets great gastronomy restaurants and hotels apart from mediocre ones and it was a real shame what happened.

Even though it’s a popular and well rated fine dining restaurant, I was still impressed by what it delivered. The selection of local produce and a theme around promoting the best of Swiss cuisine is really nice to see. They executed the dishes as well as you’d expect and even above my expectations for the lamb course which had a world class lamb sauce. Some of the dishes were naturally experimental and didn’t quite hit the mark but it was all pleasant and I liked what they were trying to achieve.

Elegant yet filled with Swiss atmosphere. Every bite of each dish left my taste buds craving the next entree. Wines were paired wonderfully and it was fabulous to be able to share the pleasure of our experience with the chef, himself. Wouldn’t miss it if you enjoy the creativity of blending the flavors of food.

They serve a verity of food here, ranging from pizza and burgers to Thai, Indian and more. The staff is very friendly but gave us green curry when we ordered red and told us it tastes about the same. The food is ok but I wouldn't say it's some of the best I've had. It's pricey as is most things in Switzerland.

We ordered Chicken tikka masala pizza and Green and red curry. (Only Chicken Halal) Absolutely delicious! Every bite was full of flavor and perfectly cooked. The ingredients were fresh, the presentation was beautiful, and the service was excellent. Truly a memorable dining experience — highly recommend! Will stop by again.

Be sure to check inside the restaurant before ordering. After we ordered and sat we noticed a swarm of flies in the dining area. The tables were dirty and the order took so long that we left. After we waited 15 min the party that ordered before us asked about their order and were told another 20 min. We were on a time crunch with a tour so we could not keep waiting. All we ordered was chicken nuggets and fish and chips. We took the loss but should have checked reviews of the place first. In the pictures you can see tiny black streaks. Those are the flies in the swarm.

I’m not sure why people keep saying it’s expensive here. Switzerland is expensive in general. This place is the cheapest spot for a pizza. It’s under 20 while all the other places in grindelwald are over 25+ just for a cheese pizza. These tourists come and complain. I’m a tourist and I budget for food so I don’t end up at the coop like these cheapos. The food vs. value was good. You can’t expect a Michelin Pizza at this price in Switzerland. If you’re on a budget, this place is the cheapest you’ll find in Grindelwald. Otherwise walk down to the coop. Pizza was fantastic, the curry was amazing and so flavorful. Definitely recommend this little gem. Thanks for the good food and clean restaurant.

No frills place with good food! Green curry is a standout. Big plate- easily can be shared by 2 if you aren’t too hungry. Spicy by European standards but just perfect for the weather. Must try in Grindelwald. Wish we came back to try other dishes. They have pizza and chicken too. Wasn’t able to try but they (family) said it was also good. Forgot what the noodles is called but it was a hit too.

We had room service one night from the grill and can see why they have such bad reviews. I’ve had beef tartare MANY times in my life and this was the first time I discovered they put cognac in the meat. When I first tried it, I thought it tasted a bit strange but mustered on since we were paying a fair price for it already. About a third of the way through I realised what made it taste strange was the alcohol and we called reception and they confirmed that they had alcohol in it although it was mentioned NOWHERE in any shape or form on the menu! Some one from the restaurant then came up and said ‘because you already ate half of it, we can only comp half’. I actually spat out a bit of it in tissues so should I have showed those and said I didn’t eat it so they would not think I I was being a cheapskate?? The whole experience was very unpleasant. We are not cheap skates trying to get a free meal but they certainly made us feel that way and we didn’t go back. The 2 stars are for the yummy bread rolls. Oh the portions are also small if any one was wondering. And when we asked for a simple green salad they said they couldn’t accommodate that and you can only order things from the menu which were basically green salads with other things added to it. So not accommodative or customer service oriented at all

The dinner at BG's Grill was a very pleasant experience. They offered a set menu with option of number 3,4,5 and 6, as well as a'la carte. We opted for set menu as it looked very interesting (modern takes on Swiss dishes and ingredients), and there was a vegetarian set menu option which is what I usually go for, although I am not a vegetarian. The dishes were very tasty and presented in a very attractive way. The waiters had a very good knowledge of what they served and provided us with good description of the dishes without imposing on our privacy. There was not too many complementary dishes that came between the courses so we not too full after eating our 4 chosen dishes. The ambience and the decor of the restaurant was modern but at the same time very cosy. We would definitely come there again if we return to Grinewald. The only thing which dampened our experience was that when we came to the restaurant we were sited at the table that we didn't like. We asked to be sited at another table but were told it is reserved for someone else, while at the time of the booking we were not informed that we can choose a specific table, as we would definitely not chose the one we were sited at. Later while the people for whom the table was (apparently) reserved came they actually asked for another table which was given to them. Don't get me wrong, I don't alway get the table I want at every restaurant, but the manner in which it is done is usually much less abrupt and authoritarian.

The lamb rack steak was perfectly cooked and delicious. The amuse bouche was delicious, as was the bread before the meal. The sweets at the end were also delicious. The staff were all professional and friendly. The price is on the high side due to the excellent service, but it was one of the best experiences I had during my trip to Switzerland.

Breakfast are delish alot of options to pick from, croissant, cheese, fresh juices, champagne, coffees. We included in our booking and it's worth it. We also include 4 course dinner,which is great as well, the portion however they could add more. Will definitely come back.

We ate at BG's for my birthday dinner. We booked directly with the restaurant earlier in the day and arrived at 6P. The atmosphere was very calming and everything was clean and tidy. The staff was absolutely wonderful and the chef, OMG, what a kind man. Prior to dinner he came out welcomed us personally. The food was delicious from beginning to end. The waitress gave us recommendations and we took her up on most of them except the cheese plate. As an unexpected treat, she presented us with an array of different breads alongside of a mix of olive oil, sea salt and pepper, and butter. On the side she gave us a type of spiced whipped cheese. It was honestly one of the best non-appetizers appetizers I've ever had. Then the food came. I had Irish lamb while my mom had steak sourced from the local Swiss cows. The meat was cooked perfectly likely due to the chefs meticulously attention to detail. Our waitress apologized for the delay advising that the chef really took his time and continued to tell the kitchen that he had to get it 'right' for me. Like OMG! How kind! Even the French fries were delicious. Oh, and if you have children (I don't) but we saw quite a few there ranging from babies to teens and the restaurant appeared to be good at accommodating them. There were high chairs, chicken nuggets, and hamburgers. All the way around I enjoyed my visit to BG's and would return.

Fantastic food and service located in the Bergwelt Alpine Luxury Resort in Grindelwald. A must visit if you are coming through the town or staying at the Bergwelt and a beautifully designed establishment. My wife and I visited twice and tried a number of the dishes, with no complaints about any, even down to the bread. Highly recommend the BBQ Short Ribs and Chicken/Poulet dish. Dessert is incredibly yummy, our server was able to get chef to make a special sampler platter for us, thank you! Fast service and all around wonderful waitstaff and bartenders!

We went to BG Grill for the monthly grill/bbq special event. The grilled meats and fish were superb, and the appetizer & dessert buffet was also impressive. Staff are welcoming, friendly & very helpful. An excellent choice in Grindelwald!

Rude racist MALE staff/owner, Asians avoid! My mother had ordered some food/drink and had been waiting for us in the restaurant for an hour, before we went back to fetch her. One male (big, bearded guy) came by and ask if we want to order something. When we said we are leaving, he turned hostile and said “this is not a waiting area and you have 2 min to leave!” He continued to grumble loudly, while he walked away from us. In other reviews, I also read about a rude, MALE guy, who is racist towards Asians. To be fair, the other female staff is polite and said it is fine when we said we will order something for our mom while she waits for us.

This restaurant provides discriminatory service against Asians. Throwing the receipt on the table and showing a dismissive attitude while taking orders is extremely rude. I truly believe this restaurant deserves to go out of business.

Very disappointing experience, mainly due to the unprofessional behavior of the manager. We ordered several coffees and a cake. The coffees were served, but the cake never arrived. After waiting for a long time, I politely reminded the waitress, as we wanted to enjoy the cake before our coffee turned cold (especially since it was already chilly in the mountain). Still, nothing came. When I approached the staff again, the manager suddenly appeared with her dogs and, instead of addressing the issue, she told me to sit down and that I was “not allowed to talk to the staff.” She even made an unnecessary comment, saying, “It doesn’t mean you’re a rich man that you can order whatever you want. We serve everyone here.” This was very disrespectful. I clarified that I never claimed such a thing – I simply wanted the cake we had ordered to go along with the coffee. By that time, the coffee had already gone cold. The manager raised her voice in front of other guests in a very unprofessional and unpleasant way. Out of respect for the people around, I avoided escalating the situation. The café itself is nice, but the management completely ruined the experience. Unfortunately, this was the first café in Switzerland where I encountered such poor service and unprofessional treatment

The same old lady mentioned in all of the previous low reviews is still here, acting as owner of the place. She is extremely rude and clearly cannot handle running the café properly. There is nothing special about this restaurant , and thank God she’s located and staying on the mountain — at least fewer people have to deal with her attitude. Customer service, respect, and basic hospitality are completely missing here. Owning or managing a restaurant or café requires treating people kindly, which is not happening at all. I honestly cannot recommend buying anything from this place unless you are desperate and she happens not to be there

We stopped for drinks and to escape the rain. This is a great spot to sit and wait for the rain to end/pass by. It has a very lovely valley view and is such a charming old traditional building.

Cool spot up a winding road or a slightly steeper trail, probably about a 30-45 minute walk/hike from the main road. Not too high up, and i think you can take a bus or drive if you prefer. It was quiet as it was late afternoon but the outdoor patio overlooking the valley was incredible. They have a lot of food options, and the beer was cold! I tried the bratwurst and hash browns which got the spot after a day of hiking around.

Tasty food but somewhat let down by the waitress who seems a little more interested in extracting every last franc from tourists than providing friendly service. They accept card payments but don’t tell you about a CHF 2 charge (fine but would have been nice to know). Didn’t receive an itemised bill and felt quite uncomfortable watching another family being charged CHF 15 for one bottle of water

I have visited and enjoying a delightful lunch at Marmorbruch, a restaurant nestled in the picturesque beauty of Grindelwald. My experience was truly memorable for several reasons. First and foremost, the view from Marmorbruch is nothing short of breathtaking. As I gazed out from my table, I was treated to a stunning panorama of the surrounding natural splendor. The combination of towering mountains and lush greenery created a mesmerizing backdrop that enhanced the dining experience. The food at Marmorbruch also lived up to expectations. We started with a fresh salad that set the tone for the meal. However, the real star of the show was the tenderloin. Presented to us raw, it was a nice interactive dining experience. The provided pan, accompanied by a delectable mix of butter and garlic, allowed us to cook the tenderloin to perfection, ensuring each bite was infused with savory flavors. The side of chips with veggies and coleslaw complemented the dish as well. In conclusion, Marmorbruch is a gem in Grindelwald, offering not only good food but also an unparalleled view that elevates the experience. If you're in search of a relaxed casual and memorable meal with a view, Marmorbruch is the place to be.

Great little restaurant, located between Pfingstegg and Grindelwald. We had delicious ice cream on the pretty and quiet terrasse, surrounded by goats, forest and with a splendid view on the mountains. Note that credit cards were not accepted, this place is cash only.

Great place to stay in Grindelwald, especially if you come by car! Very hospitable owner speaking good English and amazingly fresh air and marvellous views! Also highly recommend their cheese fondue and apple cider! But don't you dare to order the Merengue for yourself after, it's just super huuuge!

With my boyfriend we had dinner at this place. Besides delicious 3 course dinner we enjoyed excellent wine. The selection of food and wine was truly extensive, so everyone is sure to find something they like. The meat is locally sourced, which we greatly appreciated, as well as the freshness of the ingredients. The beautiful surroundings created a romantic atmosphere, and the extremely helpful staff made the whole experience even more pleasant. We will definitely be happy to return here and recommend it to everyone.

My wife and I stayed at the Hotel Schweizerhof for two weeks early in September. This was a special holiday celebrating my retirement earlier this year and a return to a wonderful part of Switzerland we last visited more than 30 years ago. The hotel was everything we had hoped for and more! Situated near the main station it made a perfect base for us to travel around the area. We took a south facing room with balcony looking across to the Eiger and the Mannlichen which was just perfect, as was the rest of our room. We were on a half-board booking which included a large buffet breakfast and superb evening dining served by friendly and very helpful staff. Our package also provided packed lunches and afternoon tea when we needed them. All the staff looked after us exceptionally well – nothing was too much for them and we had some lovely conversations and enjoyed their wine and beer recommendations and a superb cheese fondue. The Chambermaids kept our room neat and tidy, even carefully folding and presenting our nightwear for when we returned! The garden is also a great asset which we enjoyed on several afternoons, sitting under a parasol enjoying a coffee and just relaxing. We would definitely return here, perhaps in winter to enjoy the skiing season. Thank you for a wonderful two weeks.

I absolutely loved my stay at this hotel. I was made to feel so welcome by all of the wonderful staff. Nothing was too much trouble for them. My room, which looked straight out to the mountains, was spacious and spotlessly clean and the bed couldn’t have been more comfortable. The breakfasts were amazing and there was a huge variety of food. The hotel is surrounded by beautiful gardens and is a very short walk from the train station. I felt very at home there and will definitely stay there again.

Be aware that the hotel's swimming pool is closed until December 8th 2025. The hotel's own website has buried this information, three levels deep. Apparently, they are happy to give you vouchers to use the main swimming pool in the nearby Sports Centre, if you want to. It's a nice enough hotel, but there are much nicer (and more affordable) hotels nearby, and would opt for Dorint Blüemlisalp any day over this place.

Wonderful Dining Experience at the Restaurant Gastübli! I had the pleasure of dining at the restaurant Gastübli during my stay, and it truly exceeded my expectations. The atmosphere was warm and elegant, and a relaxing ambiance that made me feel right at home. The service was exceptional from start to finish. The staff was attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu. They made sure everything was to our liking and even offered some great wine pairing suggestion. I highly recommend this restaurant. I’ll definitely be returning on my next visit!

We had an amazing time here at the Romantik hotel Schweitzerhof Grindelwald. From the very first moment we were welcomed by friendly staff who were always attentive to our needs. Our room was quiet,spacious and beautifully decorated. The hotel had great views of the Eiger and was close to the railway station which had good convenient connections to the nearby attractions. The restaurant staff were friendly, polite and knowledgeable. The breakfast buffet was extensive with quality produce. The half board menu was well balanced, beautifully presented and delicious. The menu was changed daily by the head chef, who was pleased to share our feedback personally on a daily basis. We would love to return in the future.

The Best Spa Experience in Grindelwald During my stay in Grindelwald, I tried several different spas, but this one quickly became my favorite. Despite being more affordable than many others, the quality here felt truly exceptional. -Generous opening hours (4 p.m. to 8 p.m.) give you plenty of time to relax -While there’s no jacuzzi in the pool area, the sauna facilities are outstanding -Lockers are thoughtfully stocked with a lightweight guest gown and disposable slippers — very convenient -A peaceful relaxation area with deck chairs is perfect for unwinding with a book between sauna sessions -Three distinct sauna experiences: a steam sauna and two Finnish saunas (high and low temperature). The steam sauna can get intensely hot, so the door is sometimes left slightly open for comfort -An ice station provides a refreshing cool-down after the heat -Elegant, stylish décor throughout Check-in is at the hotel reception, where you’ll receive keys for both your locker and spa access. The staff were warm, welcoming, and attentive, making the whole experience even more enjoyable. A place I would gladly return to — highly recommended!

I’ve never experienced such horrible service at a hotel. The staff was not only rude, but downright insulting. Even the manager had no sense of professionalism or courtesy, which is shocking. We couldn’t take it any longer and left the hotel after staying 1 night.To make things worse, the Wi-Fi was barely functioning, making it impossible to stay connected. The location of the hotel was good for quiet hikes and an amazing view. The rooms were small and sparse and the room we got seemed to be the smallest of the hotel. A nice balcony though with an incredible view. The room did not have an outlet in the bathroom and did not come with a hair dyer. I asked at the front for a hair dryer and they said it cost 30 USD to borrow the hair dryer. A hair dryer costs less than that in the USA. The breakfasts were very nice. The restaurant was amazing but pricey so we did not eat there often. The smoked salmon was great!

Wow! If I could give this hotel 6 stars I would. Amazing views, clean rooms, and delicious continental breakfast. Staff was very friendly and the restaurant was good too! Fairly priced fondue for dinner. Breakfast is included for hotel guests and all fresh from the attached farm. Meats, cheeses, yogurt and fresh milk and orange juice. The view is absolutely stunning from all rooms and restaurant! We received a free bus pass for the city of Grindelwald for the duration of our stay. WiFi may kick you off occasionally but overall very easy to stay connected without using data. You can see rocky peaks and even glaciers from the windows! Easily “rent” an outlet adapter or hair dryer for a deposit of 10 CHF (returned upon checkout). We did not have any CHF cash, so they accepted deposit of $10 USD which we received back at checkout. Would absolutely stay here again!!

Do not go here. Worst hotel I’ve ever been. No elevator, old room with no AC. Poor WiFi and bad customer service. The hotel also doesn’t provide water. The owner is not welcoming to the non-native speaker and yells at guest who chose not to go to the hotel restaurant. Also, the hotel restaurant does not have English menu. The hotel is far away from Grindlewald town and the bus stops after 7 PM.

Wowwwww! This hotel couldn't be in a more beautiful location. Nestled right under the mountains, the views are incredible. From our balcony it was the most beautiful view I've ever seen. So serine and peaceful, yet very close to downtown. Much better than staying in the town which can get loud, especially on Wednesday nights when they have street parties. The hotel also serves a wonderful breakfast, and the rooms are clean and comfortable. Love it!

Stunning View and top class food. I had the secret-cut rib eye steak , it is one of the best steak I have had. I believe the steak is sous vide. It is super tender and juicy. Overall it is a great and humble steak. Their dessert is like the cherry on the cake. Overall a solid 10 out of 10. It’s one of the best meal I have had in Switzerland .

We had a great experience at Basecamp Grindelwald! The view is absolutely amazing, and even though the staff were quite busy, they were still very friendly and accommodating. I can’t believe I forgot to take photos of the food. I had the poke bowl, and it was packed with flavor and just the right portion size. My family enjoyed the chicken teriyaki, and they said the steak was tasty too—just a little tough to chew. Overall, a wonderful place to dine with great food, great vibes, and an even better view!

Without a doubt, one of my favorite restaurants on my trip to Switzerland! The views were amazing from the deck. Simple lunch menu which was really tasty - especially the smash burger! Service was on point and attentive. Highly recommend this place as it was friendly, tasty and great atmosphere.

Tonight we started with the Stracciatella di burrata, which was the best burrata dish we have ever had. Then we had the pulled pork Bao Buns with the cheese fries- both were absolutely incredible. Dessert was the chocolate tart with berries and vanilla ice cream- again, perfection. Plan to eat there again for lunch and maybe dinner again tomorrow. Can’t get enough of it.

Fabulously renovated guest house (under new management) with only 5 rooms. Cosy, modern room with very comfortable bed and great shower! Great value for money in the area. Easy 35 min walk or 6 min bus ride or CHF 15 Taxi from Grindelwald train station. The Rösti with egg and bacon was one of the best ever! The menu is short but varied with good veggie options. Well priced and locally sourced. The new management is young, enthusiastic and on the ball! Thank you Andrea for a true Berner welcome and real countryside hospitality!

It's a lovely mountain lodge-style hotel close to the station and overlooks the Eiger cliffs, so I really like it. The breakfast was plentiful and tasty, and the staff were friendly and polite. It's a steep uphill climb from the station, but it only takes about 5 minutes, so it's not a problem.

Absolutely loved our stay at Hotel Alpenhof! The views from the room were unreal, waking up to the mountains every morning was a dream. The staff were super friendly and helpful, made us feel right at home. Breakfast was a highlight, especially if you love good bread, jam and cheese, 😋! Wonderful room, incredibly friendly staff, and a gorgeous location in Grindelwald. The room was spotless and so comfy, and the staff was very welcoming and friendly. Would love to stay here again. It's a hike up to get to the hotel, but so worth the work!

The rooms with mountain view is stunning. The staff is friendly and helpful. It is close to the train station, which is a plus. The breakfast is included and very good, so a huge plus as meals are expensive here in this tourist spot in Switzerland. Coop supermarket is close by so that is convenient as well. It is not situated right in the middle of where all the shops are, so when there is a music street fest going on, it is actually good because it is nice and quiet - far away enough from all the ‘action’, but close enough to walk there. Overall, a very good experience and stay for Grindelwald. A word of caution - since it is an older hotel, there is no AC so as many European destinations get warmer in the summer, these older hotels get really hot now.

I had really bad expereince in this hotel. The old white guy works in cafteria was terrible. He was a racist. He definitely discriminate the asian people. He even yelled to asian customers. How can you imagine that kind of servies? I spent quite high prices, and I feel really unpleasant for this experience. If you see my review I hope you can do something with this.

I have received racism from my grandfather (who has several red scars on his face) who was serving breakfast at the hotel. During his three days of stay, I watched him serve and got beaten up, and he constantly sighed and got angry, even as Asian people (Chinese, Japanese, Taiwanese, Korean, Indian) asked him what coffee he'd like, and when Asian people left. The worst dining experience I’ve ever had in my life. Terrible service and terrible food. The server got my order wrong after making us wait about an hour and make us wait longer to the point where I had to cancel it. I had to ask them at least five times to get our drinks only to get a rude response from the staff. I ended up not eating anything at all for dinner on christmas day. The table next to us and across us were having problems as well. They made another error in taking orders and refused to remove it from the bill. The staff we’re extremely rude and unprofessional. We ended up paying $37 for literally water, coke zero, and terrible pasta that we did not get an hour later. We’ve been staying in this hotel for the past 3 days and this pretty much ruined the experience for us. Avoid at all costs.

Food arrived after about an hour and one order was wrong and one order had not been placed with the kitchen so did not arrive. In the interim we had ordered more sparkling water only for still water to eventually arrive. We asked for it to be replaced with sparkling and for new glasses. These were eventually delivered by what appeared to be a manager with severe attitude. What then appeared to be an owner arrived with the 5th meal and we said it was canceled and not required. She insisted we pay for it in any case and we refused. They were rude and non apologetic for the mess. There were at least two other tables near us that appeared to be having similar issues. AVOID THIS PLACE IF YOU CAN!

Went here for Christmas dinner and was extremely disappointed with the service. The staff was rude with nearly all the guests in attendance, including telling one table a dish would still be added to their bill, after the waitress forgot to cancel the order and the food came out 30 mins after everyone else's food at their table. Other tables waited an hour to get their food as well. I'm not sure if they were just short handed and stressed, but the attitude and overall service was horrible. This was in stark contrast to the hotel staff, as they were always helpful and pleasant. I highly recommend you eat elsewhere. Very expensive prices and bad service will certainly ruin your night.

Truly confused by the super positive reviews. We came here because of the 4.8 stars and got the daily menu - the pepper sauce on the chicken was horrible and tasted like soap. The vegetables were clearly a frozen blend warmed up. We skipped dessert because we couldn’t imagine it would be good after the rather yucky main courses.

We decided to try this restaurant as a visiting member in our group always wanted to try cheese fondue and this restaurant definitely hit the spot. The cheese fondue was very rich and delicious and the accompanying bread and potatoes were a great way to enjoy the fondue. The meat platter was also great. The views from the restaurant are amazing and just add to the flavor of your meal. The staff were very nice and welcoming. Overall, our group enjoyed our meal here.

What a find! Away from the touristy crowds of the town and authentic Swiss food. THE VIEW! Sit on the outdoor deck and just admire the beauty while you sip wine and eat amazing fondue. I actually asked what kind of cheese it was and was told it was a secret. Seemed like a small family business and I can’t recommend it more. The only downside is that it is out of the way (which is what makes it special) and we needed to take an Uber back to our hotel because the busses stop running after 7pm. The 10 min ride cost us around $50 USD. Yikes! It was worth it for us though and would absolutely do it again. One of the best meals we had on our trip!

To have some Swiss cheese 🫕 with that view was breathtaking and delicious. It has a pitoresque view to the town of Grinwald and that with the combination of the traditional food it creates a true authentic experience. This place is away from the downtown, one might need a car to get here. Try the prune or apricot liquor at the end as a digestive and you would want to come back again.

We recently spent a week in Grindelwald. We ate at Stallbeizli Heubode at least twice. If you like sausage, this is the place. The food was perfect every time. I also noticed a lot of customers eating the fondue. The prices are very reasonable, especially when compared to the prices in town. The outdoor seating is so nice. The indoor seating is cozy and welcoming. The owner, Monika, is very attentive and friendly. Monika always wore a smile and was eager to please. I ate many desserts while in Switzerland. The following three desserts are a must try: 1. Apple torte at Stallbeizli Heubode (my personal favorite); 2. Nussgipfel at the Berggasthaus Aescher near Appenzell; and 3. This little Hütte has great freshly made Kuchen, milkshakes and several nice lunch dishes. What makes this little gem really stand out is the epic terrace with unforgettable views of the mountains. It is next to the Alpvogelpark and perfect to combine. The walk from Hotel Wetterhorn took about 30 minutes uphill, following the same road the bus takes. Behind Wetterhorn to the left is a small path that avoids the road.

The best pies in Grindelwald! We've tried several of their homemade fruit pies and they're so yummy! Add a friendly service and fair prices and it's just a perfect result. Views are wonderful and we can't wait to be back. After all it's just a small, gentle hike from the final bus stop at the end of the valley. Our kids loved it!

We came across Ischboden Hütte on our way back from Grosse Scheidegg and decided to stop for a snack. We ended up sitting in the sun and enjoying the view and the atmosphere for much longer than planned cause what a gem this place is! Lovely staff, amazing cakes and the view, oh the mesmerising view… you need to stop there, and also don’t forget to stop by the Alpenvogelpark, especially if you love Owls!

We came here with the special bus plus dinner trip that was offered by Grindelwald Bus in July 2024. The bus ride was a real adventure, on a mountain road that is barely wider than the bus itself. At 20 CHF, the return fare for this journey was less than half of the regular price. The food selection in the restaurant was limited, with mostly meat options. Cheese fondue was practically the only option for vegetarians. You can make a short walk from the restaurant to a view point, or you can start walking down along the road and wait for the return bus to come by and pick you up to return down to Grindelwald. A nice experience and recommended!

If you like to take pictures and go on introductory hiking trails, I recommend the Eiger ultra trail. From First there are many trails to choose from, about 3 hours follow the Bussalp sign to Bergrestaurant Bussalp with beer and snack food, and there is a bus

Great view...one of the best in the Alps...so so coffee....but you should go here by bus to start the fantastic walk to Borst cable car station.

The view is beautiful and it is quite easy to get here by postbus. As it is written by some people already, the staff are are not so friendly. I wouldn't recommend it if you are sensitive about service.

I have to give 4 stars for the fact that after a very long hike we were able to enjoy a cold lager with a spectacular view. I deduced a star because, as others have said, the staff isn't even close to hospitable. At least not to us English speaking tourists. I get it, they probably get as lot of annoying, entitled tourists, so I'll forgive that. We didn't really eat except for fries, and they were fine. They were fries.

Was expecting it to be super expensive as it's both Switzerland and halfway up a mountain but prices were reasonable. Food was good too. The views were amazing.

Very unique small restaurant that located within the Grindelwald terminal station ( across Coop ) . Only consisted of only 4 tables. Ordering through the kiosk system. I believed it runs by the owner only. I got the spicy roasted duck and the curry noodle with the dumpling. The curry is so flavorful. I would not suggest the roast duck unless you like something simple. Will be back if i am in the area

Very expensive noodles, portions were alright only as well. The veges they seem to give more of the stalk rather than the leafy sides. Taste wise the curry was alright as well. Nothing ming blowing, tastes slightly more sour than a curry would taste. But even so, a hot noodle soup is good for a cold winter day.

Probably one of the best ramen noodles I've ever had! We had spicy noodles with ramen (or even udon noodles would be great), and every bite was delicious!! It was made fresh and tasty, and eating it after the Jungfraujoch trip was the cherry on top! Highly recommended. And the best part was my son slurping even the last bite of it ;)

If only there is 0 star, I would give it to this shop. Food is horrible. I ordered a prawn noodle and there is no fresh prawns like on the menu. My partner's duck noodle, the duck is hard. Feel cheated. Please do not come here. I usually dont write reviews but I had to for this time as its really terrible.

Amazing place for tourists after traveling down from Jungfraujoch. I had altitude sickness today after taking cable car down from the mountain, asked the ski information desk who didn’t offer any help at all, and stopped by this restaurant. The owner kindly offered advice for relieving ear pressure and the noodle I ordered was really delicious. Really appreciate the owner’s kindness and will definitely come again in the future

Quite expensive as the portion was less. I actually enjoyed the noodles because of the seasoning- there was a bowl of red paste & when I added a few teaspoons of that into the soup, it was pretty okay. Didn’t quite enjoy the pork dumplings though.

The old lady was rude from the moment she saw us which was unlike the rest of my experience at Grindelwald. I’m glad I told her she was rude and I wish I’d told her that she could try to find healthier ways to deal with whatever bad feeling she was having that day. I guess some people just have a problem with anyone who doesn’t look like them.

I had Maroni Chestanut gelato, super delicious. And a waffle with coffee ice-cream. Coffee was also good. The only problem is 'Cadj only'

it was near our hotel so we decided to stop by for a quick snack since our dinner was in 4hours. we had waffles with cookies gelato and cinnamon sugar, they were delightful! also had a frappe with espresso gelato which left me satisfied. the lady was really jovial and friendly, highly recommend for a nice break(:

The Gelato tastes very bland. No flavour has that taste to make you keep eating. Also it’s a little costlier. You should walk further up and eat in another outlet. That is cheaper and better taste.

Was craving an ice cream after a long hot day out, and we skipped the ice cream kiosk on the way back from Grindelwald First to try this (as we saw a queue the previous day). I regretted not reading the reviews first though, as the ice cream was simply not tasty even though they charged more than some of the other ice cream parlors in the area. We ordered Puffo and Apple flavors, both tasted like toothpaste/medicine. Perhaps other more normal flavors would be better. Very disappointed.

I bought waffle with banana and cookies & cream ice cream topping. It was very delicious and very filling at a very reasonable price. Lady was very nice and very helpful. I almost forgot my travel documents on table and fortunately she saw it can called me back else I would have been in trouble.

Very good ice cream and multiple nice flavors available. The sales lady was friendly and nice. Must try berry flavor. Had a good experience.

I recently visited Skihütte Genepi and was impressed by the great atmosphere and the exceptionally friendly staff. The Alpine breeze and breathtaking landscape created a perfect setting for sipping a cold drink ;) However, the constant American Gangster Rap being played at an overpowering volume is the least thing you would expect or wanted to listen too while up in the mountains. Despite this musical hiccup, the overall experience at Skihütte Genepi was enjoyable, with great service and ok food. I’d definitely be back, hopefully by then the music will have changed ;)

Very nice atmosphere! Staff is happy and enjoying herself. Pizza was baked fresh with passion:) Much better value than the restaurant just next to the cable car, you just need to walk extra 30 meters for a much more fun spot:)

Great atmosphere, the interior design is creative. For an affordable price you get a huge portion. I do hope they could put a bit more vegetables in the burrito though. We had the burger too, which was great. Staffs are very friendly!

Quality, staff and vibe are awesome, but note that the service is very slow. Only come if you have time to spare. Even though you might be waiting a while for the food, when it arrives it is very well done and has soul.

Last Wednesday evening I have had dinner with my son in your restaurant. I just want to compliment you with the excellent dinner we had. The tast, the presentation and the service were fantastic - I enjoyed it very much - Thank you. If there is any place I can leave my review - let me know - it will be a 10! I have worked for Okura Amsterdam for 20 years so I know when I see a great Japanese restaurant. Next time (next year) I will be in Grindelwald I will bring a crowd!

The food was absolutely delicious and beautifully presented. The restaurant itself was stunning, with such a charming and well-designed atmosphere. Everyone who served us was incredibly kind and respectful. Overall, everything was just perfect. If you enjoy Japanese cuisine, this place is definitely one of the best choices to visit

We ordered the Tonkatsu ramen and Curry soba noodles and it was really delicious. Delicate yet with intense flavors and we have had many ramen coming from Asia and Japan so we definitely can tell from a good ramen. Much needed. We had it after our Balchapsee hike where we took bus 121 for 3 stops from the Grindelward first cable car terminals. Go and have it and you will enjoy them!

Pork gyoza and shrimp tempura roll were bomb. The rolls were pretty solid but the avocado was pretty firm, and the fish seemed a bit past peak. Still tasty, especially the California roll.

A lovely experience at UMAMI Restaurant. The interior design is stunning—it really felt like I was transported to Japan. I ordered the agedashi tofu, which was perfectly crispy on the outside and slighty firm inside, and the teriyaki salmon rice, which was fresh and very satisfying. The senji cha was very very aromatic- surprising . Definitely a great spot for Japanese food in Grindelwald!

The food was amazing the environment was spectacular for a first there weren’t any flies hovering around the tonkotsu ramen broth was rich and creamy the bean sprouts were crispy and fresh the seaweed salad fresh and bursting with flavour even the different kinds of sushi rolls were mouth watering(tempura roll,salmon roll) the drinks were authentic and freshly brewed (green tea recommended) atmosphere was nice with Mountain View our waitress was kind and helpful highly recommended!

Beautiful view of the mountains, burgers are quite good. The rosti fries are amazing! Burgers were as one would expect. Good value based on the place and the general price of things around. Service could be a bit better - had to ask for the burger to be served in a decent box, then the fries were handed to us very haphazardly, falling off the sides.

Amazing experience! Food was super tasty, especially the french fries and the crispy chicken. The staff were very kind and welcoming. The place has a beautiful view, and the atmosphere is cozy. Prices were fair compared to the quality. Highly recommend this place if you're visiting the area! Will definitely come back again.

Centrally located, great food and excellent value! We did takeout and got fries, chicken burger and beef burger. It was own of our favorite meals in Grindelwald especially for the price! It is worth a stop for lunch or dinner!

Try the rosti fries and a lucky dog! That plus a beer is a perfect pairing after a long hike in the alps. There’s some seating under umbrellas along the main drag in town. Food came out quick and delicious. Highly recommend!

After a long and beautiful morning exploring, we were searching for a delicious lunch. We found ourselves at this food truck, and were blown away by the service and the food. Everyone around us agreed! Highly recommend the rosti fries, lucky hot dog, and the crispy chicken burger. Five stars to Piero the chef! He’s personable, welcoming and a stand up comic.

Me and my fiancée each had a chicken burger here with fries and felt very sick afterwards (dizzy, nauseous) from the amount of grease. It's currently 12 hours later and I still have a relentless, pounding headache. I noticed for the chicken burger he used a previously frozen par-fried panko chicken patty and dropped it into a deep fryer, thus being fried twice. This is an extremely high calorie sandwich. Please be warned, I hope nobody goes through the same experience we did.

Their crispy chicken burger is just cooked to perfection. I don't know how they get the bread so right and the chicken patty so delicious 🥹 chanced upon it today and I think I am already starting to miss it

Good place to eat before we leave for Jungfrau. We went at 8:30am hence there wasn't a great selection of pastry. We ordered a ham and cheese sandwich and another salami sandwich which tasted really good. Amazing view as well.

Coffee.and all the desserts were perfect here.

Enjoyed some lunch with my family today. Expensive but it was a lovely place to sit and take in the scenery.
