The Hepworth Wakefield

Art gallery
Museums
The Hepworth Wakefield is a modern and spacious art gallery located in Wakefield, UK. It boasts six contemporary art exhibition rooms, a shop, and a cafe. The gallery's award-winning status was recognized when it received the Art Fund Museum of the Year award in 2017. Visitors can also explore the expansive free public gardens on-site, which feature outdoor sculptures by renowned artists such as Barbara Hepworth, Rebecca Warren, Lynn Chadwick, and Sir Michael Craig-Martin.
It's a big gallery with a good range of permanent and temporary exhibitions. The actual gallery spaces are well lit, and the object descriptions are good. There is a large 'coffee and cake' type café and a small shop. Outside, there is an interesting garden. There are great views out from one of the galleries onto the weir and river.
P R — Google review
Shame on me: I had not visited this truly fantastic museum before, despite living less than an hour from it. It is worth visiting just for the building itself. The way the whole lot is perfectly combined with the location, its surroundings, including the river, with a cute garden housing some sculptures, the main bridge to access the museum from the car park, is superb. The curated collection in the museum is simply magnificent. I visited attracted by Helen Chapwick's "Life Pleasures" exhibition, and my high expectations were gladly met: thought provoking, full of unexpected beauty, really original. The shop is well supplied, and the coffee room was quite enjoyable: well attended, with great coffee and a good variety of food. The atmosphere was the best for me, in my opinion: although not empty, it was quiet and I had the chance to go across some of the pieces without waiting for others to leave me room. I guess it helped I went in a school day. There were plenty of lockers to leave your bags should you want to. But I could enter with my small backpack. The toilets, like the rest of the museum, were very clean, and all working well. The only negative remark is the car park: my sat nav did not give me the right directions, and I found the sign directions were not totally clear? It cost £4 for the full day. Considering that the ticket to the museum was free (as a resident in Wakefield district), I do not think it is fair to complain.

What a stunning hidden gem! We honestly didn’t realise The Hepworth Wakefield has been here since 2011 — and it’s literally so close to us! The building itself is beautiful, modern and full of character, and the whole space is very calm and inspiring. Today we also discovered the Elizabeth Fritsch – “Otherworldly Vessels” exhibition, and it was absolutely fascinating — so different, unusual and artistic in a very unexpected way. The museum is well organised, staff are friendly, and there’s a lovely riverside café to relax afterwards. Perfect weekend spot for anyone who enjoys art, culture and discovering something new. Highly recommend — Wakefield is definitely more arty than I thought! 🎨👏
Babs B — Google review
The gallery was excellent. We saw the Helen Chadwick exhibition. I would highly recommend it. Sadly, the cafe had a long wait for food. However, the quality more than made up for the wait. It was delicious.
Angie B — Google review
A brilliant variety of work that covers most forms of art... Staff were amazing, knowledgeable and extremely friendly... Loads of on site activities for the younger ones to keep them engaged. And a great bacon butty, what else do you need
Matthew G — Google review
Absolutely brilliant visit. Love the place. The current exhibitions are superb and work very well together. Excellent accessibility and inclusion. Nice gift shop - small but with some interesting stuff. They don’t accept Amex - I get how the fees are higher and they are a charity.. but kind of - I’m not if that makes sense - I am personally missing out by not using Amex. Would rather the ticket price be slightly higher if you needed but if you’re going to show Amex accepted on your contactless pay terminal you should accept it. Downside - the car park over the road has THE most confusing pay experience I’ve ever come across (I’ve been driving for 30+ years). It may not be owned or run by the Hepworth but from an outsider looking in perspective, it’s their car park, all signs suggest etc. absolutely dreadful experience.
Matt W — Google review
great place. Quiet on a sunday mid morning. nice welcome . different exhibitions of sculpture and paintings. lovely small garden along side next to old mill. food and coffee was nice. didn't experinece the shop

A wonderful experience after a long drive up from Devon. This made our day. Fabulous exhibitions of paintings, ceramics and sculptures.

The castle's grounds are open to visitors for activities like picnicking and dog-walking, offering a scenic spot for nature enthusiasts.
Beautiful castle ruin. Stunning scenery. Breathtaking views at sunset. Nice and spooky at night. Steeped in history. What's not to love?!
Catherine F — Google review
Nice to discover another castle which is also free, we enjoyed our visit here today. It has good information boards as you are walking around it and is also very safe too, the well is covered up and they also have mesh around some parts of the castle. A good day out for a family, especially on a sunny day it isn't very windy either. We will definitely visit again. The only negative is the cow muck spreading smell from the farm.
Alice H — Google review
Easy to find. Free easy parking. Easy to walk round and great for kids to have a run round and imagine what it was like. Plenty of information boards and a cafe and toilets. Litter could do with clearing. Will go again.
Ind S — Google review
We entered via Pugneys Country Park on a Mother’s Day weekend so parking was free. Site was very busy but one we took the path to Sandal Castle it was less busy. It was windy up there so we sheltered in the moat for picnic as the benches were exposed. Lovely day with excellent views of West Yorkshire especially Emily Moor mast.
Gavin F — Google review
Live local Nice walk up then round 3 times Then a nice coffee in the lovely cafe Fabulous view 360 if you've not been before there is a small car park and read the notice boards as you walk round the ruins of the castle you will learn how important wakefield was and its roll in history
Kath B — Google review
It's ok, you can climb to the top of the keep and get great views over Yorkshire. Not many information boards and only a small carpark. There is a cafe on site. Popular with families as it's a free site. There are signs up saying not to climb the walls but unfortunately people do
Ashley L — Google review
An immaculate view of the sunrise here 👌 beautiful bit of history and a nice viewpoint over Wakefield and surrounding areas.
Ismail A — Google review
Visited Sandal Castle and enjoyed exploring the ruins and surrounding grounds. The area has a lot of history and the views from the top are worth the walk. It’s a quiet spot to wander, take photos, and imagine what the castle might have been like in the past.

The cathedral, with parts dating back to medieval times and newer additions like a floor made of stone from Holmfirth, offers a light and airy atmosphere. It is open seven days a week, featuring regular music recitals, an on-site cafe serving delicious cake, and even a small play area for children.
A lovely Anglican Cathedral. Look out for their weekly lunchtime recitals on Tuesdays. Very welcoming staff and volunteers, some beautiful stained glass and art on the walls. A recommended visit.

Lovely building, stunning architecture and beautiful art inside, particularly the stain glass. Go with God

A lovely cathedral worthy of a visit. It was so peaceful. The stained glass windows are stunning. A small gift shop.

wow, what an amazing Cathedral. I just happened to visit when there was an abseil event on so that was lots of people outside watching people come down on ropes. Lovely building and well worth a visit if your in the area and its free too !
Andy S — Google review
First picture is of the Old Masonic Hall, and then the Cathedral. Wakefield is a small city in West Yorkshire, it has a nice City Centre
Andy B — Google review
Beautiful classic Cathedral, bang in the centre of Town. Good access from both the front door (steps) or side door (flat access). A good size carpark is only a 5 min walk away.
2Monkster — Google review
Even though live nearby visited this cathedral for first time. It's up there with more renowned cathedrals. Friendly informative staff lots of architecture and stained glass windows. It's free admission can make a voluntary donation.
Steve D — Google review
It was very quiet when I visited with no volunteers around to greet or help. But it was a lovely visit as you can spend so much time admiring the stained glass windows and the architecture. There are candles available for use. Plenty of space for calm prayer and reflection. There is a small gift section, but there was no staff there on the Monday afternoon I visited.

"Excellent park with plenty of parking. Enjoyed the scenic walk and seeing the wildlife. The mini railway is a great value at just £2, and the cafe serves good coffee. They also have food options available."

Something for everyone. Families, runners, cyclists, couples or a mindful walk by yourself. It's got toilets, cafe and ice-cream van. Parking is cheap but I suggest you get there before lunch time as it fills up quick. It has a flat walk around the water. Active activities on the walk round as well as a kiddies play area. Trails leading off to various places including some ruins
Charlene Q — Google review
Dear readers, when I arrived, I was amazed by what I saw. A magnificent park area, excellent playgrounds for children, and many birds on the water. It’s a great place for a family outing. I was truly impressed — I highly recommend it to everyone!
Vlad P — Google review
A peaceful retreat when you need to clear your head or enjoy a quiet walk. The scenery is calming, and the paths are stony grate for some gentle exercise. It’s ideal for dog owners too, though I’d recommend keeping your dog on a lead, as there are occasionally a few off-lead dogs around.
Craig W — Google review
A lovely early morning walk around Pugneys with my grandson, warm but not too warm, finished off with a bacon sandwich and a can of pop from the Boathouse Cafe. Loads of baby frogs hopping over the path heading towards the water!
David W — Google review
A fantastic place for a leisurely dog walk! The views are beautiful and the path is well maintained! There’s a large car park which you pay £2.50 for 4 hours which is very good value! There’s a cafe serving a wide range of food and snacks, plus toilets by the reception. It’s great for dogs and there’s ply of bins along the lake path! There’s a playground and nature trail for kids to keep them interested! Plus a light railway too!
Elisa W — Google review
This place is an amazing place for kids. Lots of flies along the path. The views and walk around the pond were lovely. The swans were magnificent, the closest I've ever seen these gentle birds. Be aware of flies along the path, and keep an eye on young children near the swans, as they can be quite bold when approaching for food. Birdseed is available for purchase at the reception. Please don't feed them bread. The playground is a great place for the kids to play even though the sippline wasn't working. The train also seems to be out of service. There is pay and display parking by the cafe for those who need it.
Barbara C — Google review
If you’re a nature lover, go there, green, Peaceful, quiet and beautiful place to see, just remember to buy a parking ticket before you leave your car there.

This is a lovely old traditional theatre!! Steeped in History!! There is always a diverse range of shows offered and the atmosphere is warming. There are vintage decorations all over the building, a vintage bar upstairs and also a new extension to the side of the ground floor with a lovely new bar , function room for hire and friendly staff!! Wonderful place xxx

A history venue with an illustrious history of top bill guests. Dinosaur adventure live continued that tradition. With over 700 years in the industry theatre royal knows how to make you feel like royalty.

Came to this theatre to see An evening without Kate Bush, what an absolutely stunning theatre, so good to see all the beautiful architecture from 1894 in such good condition. The building has a modern glass fronted bit to the right which is the box office, bar etc. All the staff are super welcoming and friendly, really makes the night special when lovely people work at a venue. Seats had a great view of the stage, acoustics and lighting were good. I would highly recommend this theatre, looking forward to coming back again.
Andy S — Google review
Great little Victorian theatre, beautiful inside, and the show was great, plenty of snacks to eat and choices of drinks, staff are amazing, really worth a visit
Irene M — Google review
Yeh it's good, went to watch The Bon Jovi experience, great night! The leg room when seated is a bit lacking but that's to be expected from older, smaller venues. Would recommend.
Steve R — Google review
What a wonderful community space this is. The Youth production of Guys and Dolls was spectacular and would rival many a London show!!
Joy G — Google review
Small theatre, and not been modernised, by that's ok. Some seats not great legroom, but good views. Staff great, and decent bars and good size toilets.

Located in the heart of Wakefield, the Chantry Chapel of St Mary the Virgin is a historic gem that shouldn't be missed. Dating back to medieval times, this chapel is one of only three surviving bridge chantries in England. Visitors can take a leisurely stroll from Wakefield Cathedral and enjoy a brief five-minute walk to reach this architectural marvel. The chapel's rich history and picturesque setting make it an ideal spot for travelers seeking to immerse themselves in the city's heritage.
This Chapel is cared for by volunteers and is well kept. It's an interesting place to visit with an informative video playing to explain the history. I am glad the Chapel is used for worship.
David C — Google review
Curious little piece of history and an insight into how things were done in the era of the Platagenets. Its a tiny space comprised of the Chapel and the crypt below. The roof was off limits sadly when the Chapel was open as part of the programme of Heritage events. On street parking on the industrial estate is limited, there is a council car park 5 mins walk away, or the Bridge pub. It's probably the best place for refreshments and facilities close by.
John S — Google review
A little gem packed with history, lots of information and a volunteer on hand to answer any questions. If you fancy the tight squeeze you can go look downstairs. Could just do with a bit more information when it is open. There is a few carpark spots on the North side of the bridge. Also a good place to watch wildlife in the river
Ashley L — Google review
Not oft open, it was a treat to find it so and enter this ancient place of worship. The crypt reminded me of the film "In Brugge". Don't try to go down there of youze a herd of elephants!

Wakefield Museum offers a captivating journey through the city's history, showcasing its evolution into the capital of Yorkshire's West Riding. The museum features diverse exhibitions, including insights into life as a nineteenth century prisoner in Wakefield Jail, the area's rugby heritage, and the unique process of forced rhubarb growth. Visitors can also explore displays on wartime hardships and stories of individuals who have shaped Wakefield.
A fine example of a good local museum. There's lots of interesting items and displays telling the story of Wakefield and its people. There's plenty to appeal to families with young children, too. An enjoyable trip down memory lane!
Mark R — Google review
No board outside so didn't realised it was open! Cafe not open Saturdays but the free museum was, friendly staff, lots of interesting exhibits, things for kids to do too, hats\wigs to try on!
Ilona R — Google review
This is a fascinating museum, having displays such as animals, ornaments and tools in its spacious area! It is also well-organized, placing artifacts from specific time periods in the same glass boxes. Navigation in the museum is able to be done with ease since there are signs for all the floors, which you are able to go in lifts to. The staircase itself is massive, serving the clean museum well alongside its lifts!
K. P — Google review
Nice little museum, it’s located within the Library.
Andy S — Google review
A really lovely space to let kids wander around in and explore. It’s only small but you definitely could spend an hour here if you had some time you needed to kill. The library upstairs is lovely too.
M T — Google review
I love this place. It works on so many levels. It is inclusive, with some interactive displays, both written and audible commentary and uses sound as part of a landscape to depict atmosphere. All the staff are lovely amd more than happy to help and explain when needed. A great way to learn new things about the area, whilst at the same time being transported back to bygone times
Iain M — Google review
I was born in wakefield and was back for a birthday visit. Was quite disappointed, as its just a few cabinets in a corner of the library (loved the old library in drury lane) in a modern building. My mum told me we once went to the old one and she said it was massive and there was a dinosaur skeleton in there.
Sharon G — Google review
An extremely small museum, but with some interesting exhibits relating to Wakefield. Don't expect to need much beyond 30 or 45 minutes to take it all in though!

Outdoor Activities
Thornes Park is a sprawling 148-acre city park offering a range of outdoor activities and attractions. Visitors can enjoy a 2-mile circular footpath, perfect for leisurely strolls or dog walking, with added exercise stations along the way. The park features a playground, duck pond, and bird aviary to entertain younger visitors. For those looking to extend their visit, there's the option to explore nearby attractions such as the Stork Cafe and Doboy Donuts.
The park had a lot of issues with litter etc for a while, but recently it's been lovely again. Gorgeous wildlife, squirrels, birds, bees all thriving. Flower gardens were a bit overgrown but I honestly like it, so many ducks and geese, and even saw wakefields resident kingfishers enjoying the pond. Secret garden was tranquil and tidy, pond was drained though which was a shame. We did find some old gravestones in the woods too though which were really interesting to see ♥️
Danica J — Google review
It’s a lovely park and great for walking your dog. The planting is excellent and well looked after. There’s something to see in all seasons.
Sandra F — Google review
A great park with x2 free car parks, a big playground and skate park. Great circuit of the park for kids on their bikes including the old golf course for riding over bumps. Lots of unexpected places to find like the pet cemetery, hidden garden and a good rope swing opposite the bandstand. You can easily spend a few hours here.
Nick L — Google review
There is plenty of space for walking, a tennis court, a playground, a rose garden, birds, a sports field, and a skate park. There is a problem with access to toilets if you park near the pond. The sports center near the playground has restrooms. The park offers a lot of space for a family picnic. My favorite place is the Secret Garden. There are two ice cream stands within the park. It's a great place to relax with family.
Monia12879 — Google review
Good all round place, nice area's to walk with dog, kids play area fenced off, skateboard section, athletes track and plenty more.
Duncan ( — Google review
One of three adjoing parks in Wakefield giving great walking running cycling opportunities etc. Very well maintained and some fabulous colours in the flowers. Duck pond too with a good number of chick's out. Tennis courts on site and some outdoor gym pieces if that's your thing.
Iain W — Google review
Been visiting Thornes Park since I was a kid (for well over 30 years). Has a lot there; large duck pond, exotic bird cage, tennis, pitch and putt, kids play area, miniature railway, skate park, athletics centre, gardens, playing fields, and plenty of walking/running routes around the park. There's a nice pub in the middle too, and a good little cafe over by the duck pond. My kids always loved coming here to feed the ducks and play. We visit less frequently now we live in Huddersfield but did come a few weeks ago.
Martin C — Google review
Really good park just outside Wakefield centre well maintained with good footpaths suitable for all abilities. Good number of carparking areas. The gardens look good in January sure by early spring time the gardens will be spectacular. Lots of grass areas for family picnics. Small pond with ducks and guess always popular with kid. Well worth a visit any time of the year.

Newmillerdam Country Park

Country park
Newmillerdam Country Park in Wakefield is a hidden gem in Yorkshire, offering visitors a wonderful day out surrounded by nature. This park is not just your average green space; it's also recognized as a designated nature reserve, making it an ideal spot for nature enthusiasts and families alike to explore and enjoy the great outdoors.
Absolutely love walking around Newmillerdamn. The main path is fairly flat and pushchair friendly, shaded by mature trees so a good choice on hot sunny days. There are lots of additional areas including woodland to investigate. There's always lots of wildlife to spot. We once saw a snake and on another occasion got really close to a grey heron. £1.00 for two hours parking and plenty of spaces. It can get busy at weekends and school holidays but I've never not found a space. The boathouse cafe is always busy, with inside and outdoor seating, but I have never purchased anything there. Plenty of benches on the way round and an area with picnic tables. There are toilets but again I've never used them. There are also places to eat within walking distance including a pub and cafe.
Melanie — Google review
A great place for a walk in a beautiful setting. The gnome roam is good fun for little kids although the bear is currently missing so don't get your kids excited about seeing that.
Curtis A — Google review
Newmillerdam is a true gem, and I recently had the pleasure of revisiting this beautiful spot with a friend. It's a place that instantly puts you at ease, a world away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The first thing that strikes you is the sheer natural beauty. The lake itself is the centerpiece, shimmering and inviting, surrounded by lush greenery. The trees are a vibrant mix of colours, especially stunning during the autumn months, creating a picturesque backdrop for any activity. We decided to make the most of the sunny day and packed a picnic. Newmillerdam is, without a doubt, one of the best places for a picnic. There are plenty of spots to choose from, whether you prefer a shaded area under a tree or a more open space with a view of the water. We found a perfect little nook, spread out our blanket, and settled in for a relaxing afternoon. The atmosphere is so peaceful, with the gentle sounds of nature all around. You can hear the birds singing, the rustling of leaves in the breeze, and the occasional splash from the lake. Beyond the picnic, there's plenty to do. There are walking trails that wind through the woods, perfect for a leisurely stroll. You can spot various wildlife, from ducks and geese to squirrels and, if you're lucky, maybe even a deer. The area is well-maintained, clean, and clearly a place that's loved and respected by visitors. The accessibility is also a plus; there's ample parking and easy access to the main areas, making it suitable for families and people of all ages. Overall, Newmillerdam offers a perfect blend of natural beauty, recreational opportunities, and a peaceful atmosphere. It's a place to unwind, reconnect with nature, and create lasting memories. It's definitely a place I'll be returning to again and again.

Lovely place to walk. Good paths for walking, wheelchair assessable. We loved the Broadwalk- we heard so many birds singing. Car park was busy- probably better to arrive early or after 1pm. Plenty of places to eat and drink and ice cream van there too.
Linda C — Google review
We have been walking around the lake a number of times and during different seasons! It’s a great path and very dog friendly! The parking can get busy, so get there by 10am if you want a space. It’s free on bank holidays, but very reasonable at other times. We always stop at The Boathouse for a coffee and toilet break! It’s by the lakeside and it gets the sunshine!! There’s no bins apart from the car park, so you need to carry your poo bags around!
Elisa W — Google review
Really nice place well maintained woodlands with a number of different walks, kids trail to follow. Picnicking area’s around the parks, number of benches round the waters edges. Good woodland walks grate for dog waking. £1 for 2 hours parking. Easy walking suitable for all abilities.

Beautiful lake and woodland. BUT beware the signage for the Gnome Roam leaves a lot to be desired. Never found the start and no distances on any signs, so gave up looking for the bear. However each board was entertaining and our grandchildren had an enjoyable day.
Shelagh H — Google review
This is an absolutely beautiful park. Here you have the chance to walk by the lake, walk through the woods and/or have lunch/drink at one of the nearby pubs which are all lovely. Car park is really cheap too. A great place to visit. Highly recommend.

Yorkshire Sculpture Park, located in the 500-acre Bretton Hall estate in West Yorkshire, is a leading international center for modern and contemporary sculpture. The park features sculptures by renowned artists like Henry Moore and hosts regular exhibitions. Visitors can enjoy picnics against dramatic backdrops and immerse themselves in art and culture while exploring the park's diverse attractions.
This is a beautiful place to wander around, even if you don't like sculptures, it's lovely parkland with lake and woodland walks. The sculptures are wonderful, though. Many different styles and some are hidden, waiting to be discovered. Take a picnic, but expect to be visited by hopeful geese or sheep! There's also a decent cafe.

A great day out for all. Beautiful gardens, surrounded by stunning scenery and extraordinary sculptures. Well worth a visit. The gardens are situated in a valley so you need to be fairly fit to walk down and back but the slopes and steps make it possible even for older visitors.
Sue L — Google review
Loved it here. Beautiful park full of loads of amazing sculptures. Lots of areas to explore. I particularly enjoyed the William Kentridge exhibition and the chapel too. Highly recommended and look forward to my next visit.
Michael D — Google review
This has long been on my list and well worth it. I was bowled over with the exhibits, enjoyed myself even with the rain. Plenty of trees to shelter under. Huge park, the site map shows routes and distance, a few times I was disorientated needing some more signposts. I worked out I walked over 12k with my round trip and gallery walks. A fun Art Studio in the Underground Gallery with objects, paper and coloured pencils to create ones own art. Accessibility: Good, one room I thought was difficult due to the door and the gallery in the Chapel. Otherwise Lifts, Ramps and accessible Paths. Scooters and Wheelchairs for hire. Some hilly areas, and you need to get onto the grass to get close up to quite a few sculptures. Car Park: Not too far from the entrance with parking for disabled nearer. Staff: Friendly and helpful. The best place to see contemporary sculpture in Britain. A fascinating combination of indoor and outdoor work. Its lovely setting makes it the perfect place to take children and dogs for a grand day out. The cafes are also first class.
Diana T — Google review
Stunningly beautiful natural landscape with amazing works of art scattered all round in a sensitive way. Could spend all day there. The cakes in the cafe looked amazing too! Biscoff cookie sandwich, yes please!
Courtney Q — Google review
Love this place for an amazing pit-stop whenever we have to drive south. The grounds and sculptures are first-rate anyway, of course, but the restaurant serves great food and the balcony has fantastic views over the rolling landscape. A nice meal and a stroll around here does a wonderful job of wiping out two hours of driving, ready for the second leg.

Wonderful walk with the sculpture’s set into fantastic scenery. Well worth a visit even if the weather is not perfect. The cafe has a good selection of choices and the coffee shop has friendly and helpful staff.

Bar & grill
Qubana is a spacious grill-restaurant located in the heart of Wakefield, housed in the former Barclays bank building. It offers innovative cuisine with a combination of Spanish and South American flavors, featuring tapas and small plates. The restaurant provides live entertainment, including tribute acts, adding to its vibrant atmosphere. With a focus on locally sourced ingredients, Qubana recreates the Latin flair of Cuba and Spain in its menu offerings.
Having ignored this place for a few years for no particular reason I finally gave the place a try on my latest visit home. To say I was impressed would be an understatement. In the space of a week I came here four times, for drinks and food.A Cuban themed restaurant and bar looking very smart and hitting way above anything else Wakefield has to offer. The drinks, of which I had several margaritas over the different visits, were the best in Wakefield. The food was absolutely gorgeous (great choice of varied dishes). Service was friendly, helpful and professional. Prices were very reasonable considering the quality. I imagine at peak times the place would get very busy so for meals it might be best to book in advance. They also have a terrace bar and also a private dining room in the old vault which doesn't cost any extra but booking advised. They also have live music in the evenings occasionally.I really can't fault this place, it really is one of the best restaurant/bars in Wakefield. Fourth visit... Everything still amazing apart from the margarita I had, not sure the bar person knew how to make it, another member of staff gave her a quick run through but it didn't taste the greatest and the presentation wasn't as good as previous visits. No doubt I'll be back to try again in the future. Fingers crossed. Fifth visit... Food still amazing, service still brilliant (lady with piercings, she was amazing, friendly, helpful and welcoming),the manager still makes a great margarita. Cheers.

Joined our friends for a meal and drinks in the 'Vault' in Qubana tonight to celebrate their anniversary. What a wonderful experience, and enjoyed by all. We got to be in the actual Vault as a private party. The food. The staff and the overall experience was excellent. I personally had the lamb to start. Followed by the Flat Iron steak as a main. It was absolutely perfect. Fantastic food. ALL the staff, and l mean ALL. Were fantastic. Very attentive. Very helpful. Spoke to a lady who l assume was the manager. We all passed on our delight at the food and staff. Thank you for listening. Sorry, we didn't get your name. Or the names of your staff. But you're all appreciated. Whoever cooked our food. A big thank you to you, too. It was divine. Kind regards Ian & Sarah

A lovely work meal. I had steak which was gorgeous, chose not to order chips alongside and genuinely didn't need them, steak was very filling. Friends had club sandwich and wraps from lunchtime menu 😊 Really clean, nice atmosphere.

It was on my bucket list to visit since it opened. I had to call to book a table. During the call I stated I would need access for my walking frame and they said it would be fine. When arrived there were a few stairs up to reception and when I was being directed to my table there were a few more stairs. They could see my rollator which is my walking frame and they didn’t give me any other options. My Dad had to help me up the stairs and down again when we had finished. So whether there is any wheelchair access at all or not, I don’t know. I certainly wasn’t offered any. They also add a 10% tip to your bill, so please check for this before you pay. We hadn’t realised it until we got home but we had paid over £8 with this tip, which is more than we would tip normally. The place in general is different from the norm. It has a nice atmosphere and tasty food, but because I use a mobility aid I doubt I will be able to visit this place again because of the stairs.

Wedding 9.8.2025 Roof terrace was a great venue for an intimate private wedding reception. The waiting staff did a fantastic job getting everybody's orders out to them we had a great selection of food and the bar staff Kai and Jonny were super friendly and looked after us very well from the afternoon into the evening. Wedding party- 9th August. Finally getting around to writing our review but what a fab time we had! Everything leading up to the day was perfect, strong communication, all decisions led by us and a real excitement was shown from all the team to hold our event. Nothing was too much and we genuinely can’t thank everybody enough. We are so grateful to all the staff that were a part of our day, especially Kai, Johnny, Sophie and Louise for making it absolutely perfect. They were so professional throughout but were still so friendly and had a laugh with us all, making it feel that they genuinely cared to be a part of it. A big thank you also to the owners. You have a beautiful venue and a fantastic team. Qubana has always been one of our favourite places and now it holds even more importance and memories for us. 💕

Me and my partner came in on Saturday for a date night as we had not been in for a while and it has been my favourite restaurant since being 18, staff are always so friendly and welcoming serving us drinks and getting us seated so quickly- Service was perfect and food was delicious as always; Sophie (special mention) was beyond a pleasure to both speak to and receive perfect service from she was amazing, we’ll always come back.

Really impressive setting that contains your classic Mediterranean-inspired British restaurant... It's a really nice vibe. However, sadly, the food is less impressive. For the price you should be wowed, but the standard of the food is totally unremarkable. It's just.... Fine. What did leave an impression was the tiny portion sizes. Want to feel full? Don't order from the tapas menu. This place epitomises the jokes about "small plates" being a way of extracting every penny from you whilst ensuring you are never really full. Desserts were delicious, however. The staff are friendly but forgot items ordered and it was difficult getting the bill. All told, it promises much in a cool building with nice decor and a good menu. However, we felt the food didn't deliver and the small portion sizes, when considered alongside the cost, left us feeling hungry and in need of snacks back home - we would have run out of cash before we ran out of space for food!

Absolutely fantastic. Small cosy restaurant. We came for Sunday dinner and opted for the 3 course meal. Starters came out at a reasonable size... Then when the main course came out we was shocked... Very very generous! Fresh produce, great clean taste. You are paying for quality. Highly recommend

The parfait was so soft and flavoursome, the blade of beef crumbled beautifully and was stuffed with flavour and the melting snitch at the end was a decadent treat! Could not fault a single thing, the service was amazing, could easily hear my partner and have a conversation without raising my voice. Great value for both 2 and 3 courses. Would recommend to everyone!
Thomas C — Google review
Never had a bad meal here. The best Sunday roast in Yorkshire puddings to die for! Starters are a must i can never manage a pudding as well but they looks special. Staff are very attentive.
Michele W — Google review
Decided to give this place another go. What a disappointment. The Sunday dinner is served in two parts. First is a plate with Meat a Yorkshire pudding and gravy. Accompanied by separate servings of vegetables. The Meat as well as being tough and the Yorkshire pudding and gravy were lukewarm. Now I appreciate that meat needs to be left to rest and that the Yorkshire’s will be batch cooked, but the gravy should have been piping hot and it wasn’t which indicates the whole plate had been sat on the side for a while. Also the gravy had lumps in it. See photo. I pointed these out to the waitress, stating that it was bad enough that they were using gravy granules, the least they could do was dissolve them properly. I was told that it was made from powder not granules. So I guess that’s alright then. £18.00 each for a lunch that was lukewarm with powdered gravy is totally unacceptable. The veg was hot hence the two stars.

First visit, Thursday May 1st. Wow. What’s not to like. Super menu where you are disappointed you can’t have every dish. We had the pork belly and braised beef, and the scotch egg, and the golden snitch, you really have to. Have eaten in many different places and this is right up there with the best. A real credit to the whole team, from start to finish. Staff attitude was that they simply wanted you to have a brilliant dining experience,, and they achieved that with ease. Can’t wait to be back ( actually back for tapas takeaway on Sunday! 35 mile round trip) Well done guys, and thank you for a superb evening

Wow! What a hidden gem! Fantastic Spanish tapas and lovely wine. The staff were professional and friendly. It was a pleasure to meet Jose and his wife Sofia. The food was all homemade and authentic...just one regret that we didn't leave enough room for dessert. We will definitely return.

Very friendly and accommodating owner and staff! Delicious food and good portions Worth every penny!!
Lover_of_Turtle — Google review
Booked a table for 8, the staff and service was excellent. Great advice on the number of items to order, 4 per couple which worked out perfectly. The paella for 2 went down very well. The 3 ladies serving ensured the dishes flowed well. Even a little room for the house special cheesecake, which was delicious. Order your paella first as it is cooked fresh and can take 30/40 mins, then plan your other dishes.

I’m Spanish and went for dinner here tonight with the family. I get tired of Spanish restaurants claiming to be authentic and dishing up rubbish, but this is absolutely the real deal thank God 🙏. Firstly, the staff are super friendly. Jose and his wife come out frequently to check on their guests. The food is fantastic, really good. The iberico croquettes, meatballs and calamari, all to die for. And then of course the paellas. Fabulous. We had such a good meal and time and will definitely be regulars here 🇪🇸🤗🙌 Fenomenal Jose 👏

With its warm and friendly atmosphere, it's an ideal place to introduce skeptical friends to vegan dining. The combination dish offers a variety of flavors at great value.
My wife and I went for an anniversary meal having heard nothing about it. Warmly greeted by the owner who couldn't have been kinder or more accommodating all evening. The food was exceptional, we ordered a couple of starters with the combination platter and every dish was different. We didn't know what to expect but the flavours were incredible and impossible to compare to a more typical cuisine. We will certainly be back and be recommending this place to everyone we know in the meantime.

The restaurant has quickly become popular among meat lovers, offering a fixed-price menu that includes not only succulent cuts but also a delightful selection of fresh salads and sides.
Excellent quality food and fantastic service. All the meats were excellent and the staff kept bringing more. There’s a pleasant self-service salad/buffet bar too. It was basically empty on our afternoon visit so we got excellent personal service and everything cooked specifically for us. The minted lamb was my personal favourite. We will be back.

So atmosphere 1☆, as I went 9pm Thu and was the only diner for 95% of my meal! It's a huge space and I'm only guessing at 200 covers. (This says something about Wakefield, as it'd have many diners in my home town on Thu-Sat.) Staff were attentive, helpful and friendly. Good selection of meats and a well stocked salad + counter.

Just had a lovely meal. The ladies were lovely, helpful and polite and the men serving the meat, Andre and Ervin, were attentive and polite. My visit today, I got the feeling that nothing could have been too much trouble for them. The chefs were spot on, the meat was lovely and tastey. The salad bar, on the both occasions I went up was restocked and delicious. I thoroughly enjoyed the garlic mushrooms. To end the meal, to my surprise I had a piece of chocolate cake with a birthday candle in which made me day. What a lovely gesture. Thank you for a very lovely and pleasant dining experience. 😁

Almost don’t want to write this because if everyone knew how amazing this place was we’ve never get a table! Truly the best restaurant ever! The music, the lighting, the people - and my god - the food! I would happily live of the minted lamb, garlic bread and pineapple for the rest of my life! Honestly all the meats are incredible and the salad bar takes some topping!! We love it here - almost as much as we love Kev! He’s one in a million, the kindest person and a credit to Estabulo! Thank you all once again for the best meal and service!

Out for a Birthday party, there are 6 of us. Absolutely phenomenal experience! From the moment I walked into this all-you-can-eat Brazilian gem, I was blown away. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, but what truly made the night unforgettable was the incredible staff. Friendly, professional, and impressively prompt they made sure the food kept coming and that we were never left waiting or wanting for anything. And the food? Simply perfection. Every cut of meat was cooked to absolute mastery juicy, flavorful, and served straight from the skewer with that signature Brazilian flair. The variety was staggering, and each bite somehow better than the last. It was clear the chefs take great pride in what they serve. Sadly, I had to admit defeat far too soon, I filled up way earlier than I wanted to! But even still, every mouthful was a joy. If I could’ve kept going, I would have. This place is a dream for meat lovers and anyone who appreciates top-tier service. Already planning my next visit... and next time, I’ll come prepared!

We went for a family celebration meal for my daughter's birthday (midweek on an evening). It's a massive place, nice looking. The atmosphere isn't great when there aren't many people. The food was brilliant. The best steak that I've had outside of America. Service was sometimes good but it took a while for mains to arrive and ages to get the bill even though it was quiet. They then had the cheek to automatically add a 'Service Charge', although, to be fair, they did point this out and removed it but I do hate the fact that these places do this, especially when they don't have excellent service.

We have eaten at Capri at the containers many time and always been impressed so we decided to try this restaurant for a change. We ate on a Sunday lunchtime while there is a Sunday roast option, we opened for the main menu. The food was nice, but not outstanding so we will be opting for the containers next time!

Tempura was nice although the waiter put the fingers on my plate to take the chilli sauce which previously indicated went ordered that I didn’t want, so not nice. Should used something else instead of fingers. The Rissoto was ok but still a bit more to Cook. I'm Spanish and I know very well the italian food how should be cooked. The staff was very nice. The place very clean. To sum up... I expected more for the price.

This is a large place. Consequently, the sound can limit conversation, especially if your party is large. The food is good and the staff are very accommodating. On the down side, we had to wait an hour before receiving our main course. We visited on a Saturday and the car park was full, so we had to park on the next available residential street.

This restaurant is stylishly decorated; it was also inviting and welcoming. The food and the friendly service made for an extremely enjoyable lunch. We were served quickly and the food was tasty as well as being reasonably priced. There are seats on the outside balcony. From the outside, it looks like the restaurant is really high up but the main entrance is via stairs but as it's on a slope, it has a wheelchair friendly entrance (a ramp) by the car park to make it more accessible. There is parking at the front and at the back. I will definitely return.

Visited with four friends on a Saturday evening. It was very quiet. The staff were mostly friendly and helpful. The meals were enjoyable, with the exception of the rib eye steak, which seemed poor quality and was incorrectly cooked. My only real criticism is that, in my opinion, apart from the pizzas, the meals are overpriced for the standard you get.

Me and my partner visited last night for the set menu deal. The food was amazing, can’t fault it at all. One star knocked down due to slow service, and that I had to call a waiter over to take our orders. Other than that this would've been a five star review Owner did apologise twice for slow service. So I believe it was a one off. Excellent starters, highly recommend onion bahjis. Curries was nice however a few of our curries didn't come out steaming hot as some of our other dishes. All curries did get polished off. Paratha was a little heavy and dense from ones I've had in the far east. Nan was very good and the Rice's was all cleared, garlic rice was most talked about for recommendation to anyone who would come A review below mentioned, better than Manchester curry mile...Totally agree and I go there every few months. Really nice restaurant. Service was very good.Nice choice of dishes at reasonable prices. The dishes themselves were very tasty, steak a little overcooked but otherwise it was all faultless. Atmosphere very cosy and warm.

We made a reservation for six in advance and were seated imidiately. The service was prompt and polite with only short waiting times. I enjoyed a lemonade, garlic bread with cheese, crispy calamari and the broccoli+chicken pasta. The atmosphere was calm if a little crowded, the decor was beautiful and the music was tastefully on theme.

Unfortunately we were incredibly disappointed with our most recent experience at Fino - we order from there a lot and this time has made us decide not to return. Food was ordered and came in good time so we were very confused as to why everything came cold! The potatoes - we got about 7-10 and they were nearly 4 pounds and the lasagne was 13 pounds - saddest lasagne I’ve seen - it was frozen in the middle so clearly microwaved and very flat as well as a small portion in comparison to what we’ve had before. Overall really poor value for money and disappointing that everything was cold. Will go elsewhere next time as plenty of Italian restaurants in Wakefield!

We decided to go here for my husbands birthday and was so happy we did. The staff are so friendly and welcoming and the decor was so warm and inviting. We were seated upstairs which is a little small but perfect for an intimate dinner so it was perfect for us. The service was great we got served quickly and by our lovely waiter our drinks arrived quickly and the food followed not long after. The food as amazing and was such amazing quality with a good portion size to boot. But the best thing had to be the desserts they were absolutely divine!! Homemade and so flavourful I could have just ordered multiple dishes of the dessert lmao. So overall a fantastic Italian restaurant with amazing staff and outstanding food we will definitely be visiting again and highly recommend this restaurant :-)

Just happened to stop by Fino today for an italian Sunday lunch, was absolutely delicious. We didn't book a table but were welcomed in. Our server was really lovely and friendly. The food was hot and delicious, from starter to dessert! We loved the decor and atmosphere of the old building. I love that they have further dining area upstairs which could be booked for large groups. The prices were very good to say that some chain restaurants are more expensive and not nearly as good as the authentic italian food you get here. I love that there's proper olives on the menu too! We will definitely be back. Oh and we had teenagers with us but the restaurant is little kid friendly too.

food was decent but the service definitely lacked a lot. considering there were only probably 10 other people in restaurants we were very disappointed. we finished our starters before all the drinks arrived as well as a starter being forgotten. we also weren’t given the option of dessert and was just handed the bill when we hadn’t asked. as well as multiple things we ordered were either unavailable or had subs (we were told about) this place was recommended to me by a friend so i had much higher expectations.
Laura — Google review
The food was reasonably priced. Their garlic breads and pizzas are made fresh, stonebaked in front of you. The mushroom in white wine, cream and parsley sauce was slightly salty but it was probably a one off. The portions were very filling. The staff were very attentive and polite. The restaurant was good for photos. During summer there is outdoor seating too which would be great to go back for.

We have just had our wedding reception upstairs at Fino’s and Mike and his team did a wonderful job in making our wedding day extra special. The food was exceptional considering they were catering for a large party who made their own choices from the main menu. Thank you to all staff who worked hard to make our special day a happy occasion.

Thai restaurant
Vietnamese restaurant
Têt Restaurant is a delightful gem nestled in the heart of Wakefield, just a stone's throw from the iconic Wakefield Cathedral. This chic eatery specializes in an enticing blend of traditional Thai and Vietnamese cuisine, showcasing dishes like the beloved tom yam soup, rich curries, and delectable satay.
Our group had such a lovely night. The atmosphere is amazing simple, elegant and cozy at the same time. The staff were very friendly and attentive checking on the table multiple times throughout the night. I personally really enjoyed the food, I had the Crispy Chilli Chicken, the sauce comes already separate so you can add bit by bit as you need, the food itself was good but the tamarind sauce was absolutely out of this world! Can't wait to come again and try other dishes

We had an absolutely wonderful experience here! From the moment we walked in, the staff made us feel so welcome. The highlight was not only the delicious food but also the thoughtful service. We ordered the Pad Thai, and it instantly transported us back to our trip to Thailand — so authentic, flavorful, and perfectly balanced. Every dish was fresh and beautifully presented. What made the evening extra special was that they surprised us with an anniversary gift on the house. It was such a kind and personal touch that truly made us feel celebrated. This restaurant is a gem — both for the quality of its food and the warmth of its service. We’ll definitely be coming back and recommending it to friends!

Absolutely outstanding! Tet Wakefield delivered on every level. The food was nothing short of impeccable—bursting with flavour, beautifully presented, and clearly made with care. The service was equally impressive: friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming from start to finish. It’s rare to find a place that gets everything so right. I highly recommend a visit—you won’t be disappointed. I’ll definitely be returning soon!

A last minute decision to go out for dinner gave us chance for a return visit to Tet. We booked online for 815 and arrived to find a busy restaurant but with a table waiting. The menu is pretty varied and gave me chance to try the caramel tamarind prawns which were superb. All food was very creatively presented and very tasty. Not a cheap option but quality and a little different

Lovely Restaurant, beautiful decor inside. We shared the Tet tasting Starter for two, which was delicious and a wide variety. We also got the sweetcorn cakes as they’re my favourite. My partner then had the weeping tiger steak, which he loved and he usually does not eat steak! I had the Katsu bao buns with sticky rice. The katsu sauce is to die for!! The buns were so light and fluffy. My parter also had several cocktails which were tasty. The portion sizes are generous, we definitely left with full tummy’s! The staff are so friendly and have a very professional approach for a lovely young team. 100% recommend this restaurant

This is a wonderful restaurant just steps from the cathedral. We loved the pad Thai and the chicken garlic pepper which we shared. Service was exceptional! Stop in!

We went for a birthday lunch for my sister after hearing good things about this place, and they were 100% right! The server was very friendly and attentive, always seemed to appear just when we wanted something and the food was all excellent. Tasted very authentic and great portion sizes, we had the mixed starter, and veggie dumplings, then green curry with tofu and a chicken massaman curry. The green curry was labelled with 2 chillies and it was pleasantly spicy, my sister said the massaman was mild and tasty. I mentioned when booking that it was her birthday and they made up a lovely plate with a birthday message and a little brownie on it. We will definitely be returning to try some more dishes, their menu is very extensive so there’s plenty more to go at!

We went it for a pre show meal at the theatre and was so happy with the atmosphere, decor, staff and the food was outstanding. We precooked and were greeted by a lovely staff member and we were quickly seated then moved as there was a light flickering and we had a party member with epilepsy (they were very accommodating) We had a look at the menu and they have a good selection the meals are little more expensive then average but there worth every penny. We ordered and the meals came out quickly, hot and looked amazing. The food was impeccable and we were over the moon with what we ordered and decided to treat ourselves to a dessert and we were very happy with our puds as well. Overall a fantastic experience with amazing food and wonderful staff and can't wait to go back there again and I have already recommended this restaurant too others

Manchester Airport

International airport
Airport
Manchester Airport (MAN) is a bustling 3-terminal airport with national rail connections and flights to various destinations worldwide. It offers a range of facilities including shops, self-check-in kiosks, and parking spaces, although parking can be pricey. The airport provides quick check-in procedures and an array of dining and shopping options. While it may lack some staff for inquiries, the new Terminal 3 has improved convenience and reduced queues compared to other terminals.
Passport control has been massively improved since my last international trip a few years ago. The flight arrived early, we got through passport control super quick and my baggage only took 15-20 mins to show up on the carousel. Express pickup area was convenient and made it easy to get the Uber.
Baz P — Google review
It was a great Airport especially Terminal 2! The interior design was great and it was fascinating to be there. The only problem is that when I was collecting my luggage they would only send out 2-3 luggage every few minutes or so and that nearly made me miss my train! Great experience though.
Fabio S — Google review
Came on a train four hours before the flight so no rush. I had to walk to Terminal 3 but the signs were clearly displayed so it was easy to follow. Used toilets twice and although both were reasonably clean, it was smelling really bad in one of them. Waiting area after the security check was packed, so I had to wander for a few minutes to find a seat with enough personal space around me. Plenty of places to eat and drink.
Vintage K — Google review
Arrived at Manchester Airport with time to spare — parking was easy to find and clearly signed. Check-in was smooth, and the staff were helpful and polite. Security took around 20 minutes, which felt reasonable for a busy weekday morning. Once through, Terminal 2 was bright, clean, and full of decent food and coffee spots. Grabbed a quick bite and found plenty of seating near the gate. Boarding was well-organised, and staff kept things moving without fuss. Overall, a solid travel experience — efficient, comfortable, and much improved from a few years ago. Just arrive early, especially during peak times, and you’ll be fine.
Abdullah A — Google review
I've been here 4 times, and it's been a good, straightforward journey getting to and from the gates. My favourite terminal has to be T2 as it has a good variety of shops and the gates aren't too far away.
Connor C — Google review
Well what a change in Terminal 2 now the renovations are just about complete. It no longer feels like Luton airport in the 1970s. Lovely modern spacious ambience, fast efficient security, clean and tidy with a fast train link. Great shopping and eating too. What more could you ask for.
Martin F — Google review
It’s a good airport. Modern. Well appointed. Good facilities and amenities. Not much in departures before security. There is a WH Smith and a Starbucks. Protip: nowhere to sit in departures really so might not want to arrive too early. Can sit on the cement blocks outside if the weathers ok. After security the Duty Free is epic. The eatery options decent. Seating options are significantly better. Adequate. Another Protip: Boots is a really great store in my experience for travel amenities and snacks. Good variety of options and so many of the things you may be looking for at a reasonable price.

Manchester Airport is a very smooth, very well organised airport. Being one of the busiest airports in the UK, it's absolutely amazing. There's a lot of car parking by the airport and it's a very affordable price. Manchester Airport has a humongous selection, and 3 terminals make it spread out, and the ATC knows how to make sure the runways are running smoothly. Absolutely amazing airport, and I would highly recommend it. It's also got a great planespotting place with a British Airways Concorde on show!. P.S. : The planespotting area costs £5 for entry, but it's worth it.

Leeds Bradford Airport

Airport
Leeds Bradford Airport is an international airport conveniently served by buses from Leeds, Bradford, Harrogate, and other regional points. It's located near major roads such as the M6, A66, A1, A65, and A59. The airport offers clean facilities with friendly staff and a smooth check-in process. There are various shops and dining options available in the terminal. Although it's a small airport with limited destinations, it provides efficient services for travelers.
The six eight one lounge Seen a lot of negative reviews regarding the new lounge, so was apprehensive when I had already booked it. But honestly me and my dad had no issues, the food was really nice and could have 4 alcoholic drinks each, which for us is plenty before a flight, was the view the best ?? Probably not, and the price ?? Also maybe not, but when is stepped out to go to the gate and I saw how busy the airport was I was happy to have been in the lounge where it was quieter, plenty of seating and not crowded, so yes I would probably book the facility again.
Charlotte R — Google review
Contrary to the other reviews we had a solid experience flying out from this airport, where security lines were easy to find from the staff's guidance! Did not take long and trays go through the conveyor belts quickly, getting around the airport areas is quick on escalators and stairs. Departure boards kept us updated for flight status, waiting areas have plenty of seating and points to charge our phones. Walkway to the flight boarding has lots of windows giving views to outside and shuttle bus took us efficiently to our flight, one problem is the Gregg's is not in the airport so be aware you need to go there pre-security.

I have flown from Leeds a couple of times and always found it ok, but I was there today to pick my daughter and her friend up. There is no arrivals lounge. There is currently a massive renovation going on. The arrivals pick up area is outside next to a dirty grotty smoking shelter. There is no way to access any information about the arrivals. No information screens, no staff, no shelter and no views of the planes so no way to know if the flight has arrived. There is one hour free parking, but if you go over that hour it's a £68 charge. I almost left to go and move the car to avoid the astronomic charge. Stood in the rain for 30 mins waiting with my younger daughter. Even the smoking shelter had a missing roof. So anyone going to pick up a family member or friend. Wrap up warm, take an umbrella and check the flight times on your phone.
Kate A — Google review
Getting to this airport already felt unusual. The road leading there is a small country lane, and for much of the drive I honestly thought I was heading to the wrong place. The airport appears suddenly, almost out of nowhere, which already gives a strange first impression. Once I arrived, things only became more chaotic. I travel often, and I have never experienced having to wait outside the airport just to get inside the building. The queue lasted more than an hour, which is completely unacceptable for any airport. Passengers with larger luggage had it even worse, because they had to queue twice: first to drop off their big suitcase, and then again to pass through the gates. There was also no clear organisation between priority and non-priority passengers. Everyone was mixed together in the same lines, so paying extra for priority meant nothing at all. The only positive part of my experience was a member of staff who tried to help people with flights leaving soon by moving them ahead in the queue. That effort was appreciated, but it was not enough to make up for the overall mess. Inside, the airport was no better. It felt dirty, neglected, and poorly managed. Fortunately, the weather was good that day, because standing outside in the rain or in strong heat for over an hour would have been unbearable. Overall, the experience was stressful, disorganised, and far below the standards travellers should expect. This airport leaves a very negative impression from start to finish.

Review for the new 681 Lounge. We made use of the old 1432 Runway Lounge on many occasions and were excited to try the new offering. Having paid £54 each a few months previously we were disappointed to be offered a price of £39 by email 22 hours before departure. Of course we could not cancel the booking. On to the lounge… The drink offering is worse. You are restricted in what drinks you can get, and how many. The food offering is better, very nice buffet style, but no table service. The runway view is an absolute joke. Instead of watching the airport you get a view of the car park (see photo) All in all, a worse service for a higher price. BTW after complaining LBA did refund the difference in price
David H — Google review
One of the more popular airports in the North of England, but still feels quite small and occasionally disorganised—especially during busy times. Security queues can be long, with only two lanes operating unless you’ve booked fast track. It’s particularly chaotic when multiple flights are checking in at once. That said, it’s convenient and easy to get to, and much simpler than going all the way to Manchester. The meet-and-greet zone is right by the entrance, but it’s steep at £7 just to stop for a couple of minutes. There’s a free one-hour parking option further away, which is fine if you’re mobile, but may not suit everyone. The car rental centre is about a 10-minute walk, though there is a shuttle bus—I usually walk through the car parks unless it’s raining. They’re currently expanding the terminal with a new section that includes restaurants and lounges (including a Burger King), which is a nice improvement. All in all, not the most polished airport experience, but it’s local and convenient for me, and I’d still choose it over Manchester. Flying out of London is smoother overall—but for northern travel, LBA does the job.
Samantha G — Google review
There are no signs in regards carrying liquids through to airside. When you hit security (what a farce), there's only one lane open. Security told us, even though they have the new scanners, they are no longer allowed to use them to their full extent. Despite the Web page saying different This was the only human interaction we had. So sad everything is automated. We did manage to find a free washer fountain. Just before duty free. There is a lot of construction going on.
Nick L — Google review
New terminal open but only two new eateries. One is the size of a football stadium! They could have added more variety. And they sell the same food as the other food places. If you like burgers for starter, burgers for main and burgers for dessert you are sorted. If you don't like burgers, hard times......
