Ossett Brewery houses are always worthy of a visit, this one has the full range of their cask ales on served expertly by the friendly, knowledgeable barman.

Great pub with live music at weekends. Good atmosphere decent pints of Silver King , White Rat, Guiness etc. Good size outdoor area to sit in when weather's good. Also another indoor room with separate bar.

Nice multi craft beer pub - both cask and keg. Everything well very kept. Gets busy on a weekend but a great venue for a quiet night out with great ale during the week. Parking is free on the council car park nearby in Smyth Street after 6pm.

As a tourist in Wakefield, I visited this local brewery-owned bar twice, driking the Ossett brewery's cask ales on the first visit and the local Salt keg beers on a second evening. Good beer, but sadly lacking in atmosphere, possibly as I went on a Tuesday and a Thursday evening. I had 6 ½ pints over 2 evenings, so about £15 total. I've scored the beers under Food here.

Had some fun cocktails, a bit on the pricey side and didn’t taste much alcohol, but I loved the vibes of the front of the place and the fact that you need a code word to unlock the magic door lol. It’s a really cute concept, the staff were lovely and helpful. Would recommend at least trying the place out as I don’t think you would regret it. Was a bit empty but me and my friend still very much enjoyed ourselves!

If you’re looking for a quirky secret 80’s themed cocktail bar then this is the place for you. Hidden behind a VHS rental shop you have to ask for the right video to gain access to the bar. This weeks video to ask for was Rocky IV. Unique 80’s decor with neons and super friendly welcome from the staff. It has an outdoor area too.

This was a brilliant bar for drinking, setting the atmosphere from the get go by popping the VHS Simpsons tape in then the door opening up for entry! Lighting along with flashy images adds to the scene, counter is stylish itself. I had a bottle of Smirnoff Ice, enjoying the sun at a clean table!

I guess this trades on its novelty value, but if its just a quiet drink you're after. go elsewhere. You have to book online in advance with a £10 deposit that is redeemed against your first drink. On this occasion we didn't try the food but had pre-theatre cocktails. We'd booked the Lot bar which is essentially the back yard of RBT video. The Alabama slammer was great but the banana daiquiri was disappointing at a price of £12. It was very weak in content and mainly ground ice.I reverted to white wine for the second drink but my hubby tried another cocktail in a coconut husk. Again, disappointing and as with all cocktails they are mainly crushed ice that is too thick for a straw. He asked for a spoon only to be told that there wasn't one in the whole building!! so made do with a fork.Our first visit but most likely our last. I think I'll have a cocktail at home next time. Feel free to prove me wrong.

Loved the place, I love the 80s so this was right up my street. A great retro place, and great for a few inspirational cocktails.

We went here with our grandson and daughter. I had an alcohol free beer which was very refreshing and served with a glass without asking (pet hate of mine is when they don't offer me a glass). My grandson had a portion of chips I am not keen on potatoes or chips but I have to say they were the nicest chips I have ever eaten. The whole experience was fantastic. We were in the beer garden at the back and it has a little bar so you don't have to keep going inside. Lots of seating and shaded area. We were so impressed we are going back but booking so as not to be disappointed.

Food was fine, didn't have the carvery as it looked as though it had been there for a while; service was ok, atmosphere was as you'd expect on a weekday lunchtime in Yorkshire. Nothing much to add really, not sure I'd go again, it wasn't memorable, but good average.

We booked a table and arrived in time. The Staff greeted us and said we could use any free table. There were six of us in the party including two small children. The menus were very varied and there was something for all tastes to choose from. We decided to use the "manual" system and ordered our food and drink at the bar counter, the staff member was very good in that she checked she had all the order details right before presenting the bill. It took about twenty minutes to serve all our food together, which we thought was very reasonable. The food was well presented and everybody enjoyed their choice. A really pleasant lunch in friendly surroundings and very good value too!

I had a 40% off voucher and had not been for over a year as was disappointed on a previous visit. We sat down and the table was really sticky to touch so we needed to clean that with some baby wipes we had. 3 of us had the carvery, all 3 meats were really nice.. Beef, Turkey and gammon. The veg all had a lot to be desired. The peas were hard, the carrots were dry, cauliflower cheese was mush with no actual cheese and the roast potatoes were white they were so anaemic and never been roasted… looked like frozen ones heated up. I know I saved 40% but still not worth it I’m afraid.

Pleasantly surprised for a chain pub. Dog friendly pub with good food. Philly cheesesteak, steak was cooked as ordered and nice, beef chilli was nice too. Would definitely go back.

This is one of my favourite pubs in Wakefield. It has a superb location and a large selection of seating from outside on the lawn and the pub garden to inside the pub or it's conservatory. The pub itself is very old and worth visiting purely for this reason. It's full of character and is worth seeing. As for the food - the pies here are next level. The staff are always friendly. So yes definitely one to visit.

Very popular village pub alongside an open green heath. Fairly plain on the outside, but the inside offers an intrigue of dark walled rooms and corridors that are magical. Stepping back in time, this pub has a good selection of beers and friendly staff. It's history is proudly available to read in a prepared folder. Seating inside, including a conservatory, and outside in the garden. Friendly staff and fellow customers. Food is available in the Thai restaurant next door, which is also reached through a corridor from inside the pub.

A superb, traditional and historic pub with low ceilings and lots of character. There is also a peaceful beer garden and bright conservatory at the back. The staff were very friendly and welcoming and the food was freshly cooked, generously portioned and very good quality. We had the Sunday roast and a Thai dish which were both excellent. This is so much better than the many chain pubs nearby and well worth seeking out either for a craft beer and/or an excellent meal

Called in other day for a few pints of white rat. Very friendly staff , the beer was perfect sometimes in other pubs white rat can have a peculiar taste. Not in this pub, even on afternoon was quite busy pub. A friendly sociable atmosphere.

It was a very nice experience. We were a bit surprised that this place does pies only, but it all made sense when we had them. The pies were absolutely delicious! We had pork pie, sweet potato and lentil (my personal favourite), pulled pork pie and our little one had a sausage roll. All food was great! The atmosphere in the pub was very pleasant and we will definitely be back. Thank you:)

A lovely, traditional pub in an absolutely beautiful location. The views outside are fantastic. The service was speedy and the two staff that we spoke to were friendly and polite. Our drinks were perfect. The weather was extremely hot, so we sat outside in the shade of a large tree. A pleasure that we look forward to repeating.

This is just one of my favourite places to go. The staff is ever so welcoming and attentive. The prices are great. Food - 5 *. This pub has got so personality and the outdoor seating is perfect.

Nice enough place located in the centre of town at the top of Westgate. Came for a quick drink. The Margarita was a bit disappointing (they used large chunks of salt on the glass which wasn't great). Prices were reasonable. Service ok. Good choice of drinks. Didn't experience the food or live music but I do know it can get very busy at peak times.

Best lime and soda price I've had for ages. Place seems nice, stairs to the toilets look a bit lethal, but for the time I was there it was nice, getting nosier from 7pm. Staff were attentive, cleared up quick.

Came here with a friend for lunch recently, the pizzas were really good for the price (£8 for a small pizza but decent size and very filling!), the mocktails were nice too. Feel like the lady at the bar could have been a tad more attentive, was talking to others whilst serving us but nothing major. Guy doing the pizzas was brill. Overall would recommend!

Heck, I am meant to be out & about, reviewing Doncaster, South #Yorkshire, content friends. However. Excellent #pizza here is too good to miss! Lunchtime deal best if you're on a budget. Small pizza/soft drink, just £6, 1-4pm, Mon-Thu. Funnily enough I am not actually eating here today. So pic from another great pizza place in Docklands, #London. Could easily be said bar in Wakefield, the food looks so similar.

Highly recommended. Came in here for my dinner break with some colleagues, we were all very impressed. £4 for a 7 inch pizza or £8 for a 13inch. You can have as much of and as many toppings as you like. I picked the BBQ sauce which was very Nice, just the right amount of sweetness. Also had chicken tikka, lamb donner, bacon, sweet corn and buffalo cheese. The pizza was cooked to perfection on a thin base which made it crispy and not too filling so I could eat the whole thing. Atmosphere was really good and the staff were really friendly and helpful. One of them even saved my work phone for me after I foolishly left it on the table! Overall would definitely recommend giving it a try, we can't wait to go back!

Stopped during a stroll through town on a bank holiday Monday. It was very quiet and we got two pizzas which were lovely. They operate a system where you self select as many toppings you want. Great selection of gins and beers.

Food was good but staff were Excellent! We turned up, two adults, a 4 year old and a month old baby and they were so hospitable. Pizzas were on point, great value. Pizza girl was loving my daughter, big up the pizza girl. It's a limited menu, beer food essentially but we'll be back.

First time visiting Wakefield and found this pub and became a favourite straight away due to the atmosphere and the food. Lovely staff and service from everyone. It had a drag disco and Karaoke on the Friday night but the music is not too loud like in some venues, they got the balance just right so you can still talk to each other. Ordering food was super simple as every table had a QR code to scan which too you to their menu and you simply put in your table number and selected what you wanted then paid with Apple Pay. The food arrived within 25 mins and was really good. I recommend their pies, had both the Steak and Ale and the Chicken and mushroom over two nights. Highly recommend this pub if you want a great night out with good food at a reasonable price. I will be back deffo.

Karaoke Fridays in this place are ABSOLUTLEY amazing, great atmosphere and fabulous entertainment! Came in today (Sunday) for a roast and this was AMAZING! The beef was so tender and tasty, highly recommend!

Ordered a hunters chicken and a chicken tikka, both came out cold and the chips were too hard, and tasted like crisps. (Also most of the menu was out of stock, which is disappointing for fathers day, glad I didn't being my dad here)

I love Calder and Hops! The poker game on Sundays is the best pub poker game I've been to and the inclusive, LGBTQIA+ friendly vibes make the atmosphere feel very accepting and friendly

Amazing service, food was very good. Had the burger due to a limited menu but that burger. Even though I'm full I can probably eat another 3 or 4. Staff were very friendly despite the current conditions everyone is working under. Especially the young lads on the bar. Thank you calder and hops.

Got offered to try some Very tasty traditional Polish food, alongside a perfectly cooked sirloin steak. Served by a very lovely Polish lady, who gave us a good insight into Polish tradition and foid This place is VERY Highly recommended

Excellent pub with terrific staff. Large beer garden to which they've added a small stage under a large canopy covering half the outdoor area. They often have small bands on, makes for great place to visit. Not eaten there, but the food I saw looked great.

On the lookout for a Bloody Mary, we called in at the Black Horse. No tomato juice in sight. We asked for the cocktails menu, but they couldn't find one, sigh. Staff were slack. They offered to read one to me from behind the bar. I said give it to me. DUR. Nice to sit out, but just come for a beer and move on party goers. There are plenty of choices in town.

My daughter booked for just 5 of us to have a nice brunch for my birthday. We were sat there a good 10 minutes before someone came to take our order. We got a drink each then waited another 10/15 minutes for our next! And went on. We maybe had 6 each in the 2 hours we were there. When we finally ordered our food, 25 minutes before our time was up, it came out freezing cold. My son in laws never even got his! I asked to speak to the manager (but obviously he was too busy to listen to our complaint)!!! so a guy came and we come to a compromise. He was very nice and very apologetic about our experience. The other table of 18 people though got a great service!! Never again

This was a fantastic bar for drinking, with a traditional layout that is fancy too! The map on the wall is a slick addition, mock greenery adds a feel and counter is nicely compacted. I had a cheap bottle of Desperados, sitting at the comfortable chairs on a smooth wooden table!

Located near crossroads in Westgate, good bar with nice atmosphere. Do food in separate area if you wish. Good size bar area, and one of best beer gardens in wakefield.

My fave pub in Wakefield, Great selection of real ales and ciders. The beers are brewed on site ! Fabulous interior, a former malting house from 1850 featuring low beams and cast iron support columns. Really warm welcome from the staff and local customers. I have added a lot of 360 degree photographs of the pubs so you an look around the amazing building. The entrance is located on Avison Yard which is a easy to miss. The bar is up the stairs and on the right. Highly recommend this pub if your looking for real ales, ciders and a friendly welcome. Dog friendly. Look forward to returning again next time I'm in Wakefield.

The greatest selection of craft ales I have ever seen. They do their own ales as this is microbrewery. There is live music every Sunday and free snacks and wonderful atmosphere only nice people naturally go there! Staff is very friendly always smiling providing excellent service. The best pub in the whole Yorkshire ! Absolutely love it and this is must to visit place in Wakefield when you are around!

Very good brewpub about five minutes walk from Wakefield Kirkgate railway station. Eight cask beers - and two ciders - on handpump when I visited. There is an interesting mezzanine level seating area where the walls are adorned with old pub signs and historical information. There is an independent two and a half barrel plant brewery housed in the cellar of the original 19 Malthouse for Fernandes Old bridge Brewery based at Chantry Bridge which later became part of Beverley Brothers (Eagle Brewery).

Unassuming from the outside but this is a great traditional pub with good music and a nice selection of beers. Very clean too.

This was the best real experience we have ever had! The range of beer was amazing and ones we tried (life of Brian and the one with zaffir lime) were our favourite beers of all time and we’ve tried a few before 😂 we will come back without a doubt. So friendly too and the dog got water and a treat

This was a glorious pub for drinking, maintaining its old architecture across the interior! The greenery is so pretty across the counter and this is decorated with miscellaneous items too, staff were really friendly although did not spot any Harrys sadly. I was pleased to be able to grab a pint of Erdinger, sitting at sheltered seating outside of the interior and cleanliness was consistent!

Always a good selection on beers on including cider with is my choice. My husband loves the beers! Lovely staff, always welcoming! Great outdoor area. Lovely to sit outside and listen to the rain. Also has heaters for the cold nights.

I was visiting Wakefield as a tourist. A nice real ale, Bread & Butter Modern Ale, Vocation Brewery. Alas, only one. Most clientèle drink lager here, of which there was a good range. Friendly staff, very helpful publican. I went on two evenings, Wednesday (very quiet early evening) and Friday (moderately busy early evening).

In between walking from Inns if court to Black Horse this bar does variety of beers. Prices a little higher than most atmosphere can vary from week to week. Staff friendly and efficient.

A rather good boozer, which is close to the railway station. The building itself is reasonable small, but well appointed. The beer & spirits are first rate: the real ale is well kept & the selection of drinks is impressive. The outside drinking areas is adequate, for the British climate! The staff are friendly & this bar does some offers on drinks, which are always worth watching out for.

Avoid. Called in for cocktails on Saturday night, specifically two strawberry daiquiris, what came was anything but, the lady who made them clearly had no idea what she was doing and to top it all off her and another female barmaid kept looking over at us and smirking at eachother knowing they had made a mess of our drinks, the place also had a foul smell like a public toilets.

Only one person serving on a really busy December Saturday with packed bar and function upstairs. Long wait. Cocktails were lousy. Didn't have all the ingredients. Made the birthday cake cocktail using pouring cream which had been out on the side. Not whipped cream. Absolutely disgusting. No sprinkles, no cherry. Not that they would have made it any more drinkable. Been before but the menu has changed for the worse. Will not be going back again.

Hired out for our theatre company's fundraising event. Made for an absolutely amazing night. They accommodated all of our wishes for the night with our open mic, quiz and karaoke. They even designed us our own themed cocktail menu. Could not have been better if they tried!! A huge thank you to everyone there who made it possible and we will definitely be back!!

Hosted a fundraising night here - it was absolutely wonderful. A massive thank you to the bartenders, Jasmine in particular for letting us know about the event hire, and to Reece for setting up/running our mics and sound. The team were brilliant, made sure we had everything we needed, and even created a themed cocktail menu for us for the night! Highly recommend, a wonderful bar!

Attended a fundraiser event the previous weekend. The bartender Jasmine was very helpful in recommending a Shakespeare themed drink. Would recommend to anyone, will be coming back

We hired the place out for a fundraising event and it was absolutely perfect, the drinks were spot on, the staff were so helpful getting us all set up and it was overall just a great night which was helped so much by the whole team at Golden Pineapple

Absolutely love this place! I came here a few weeks ago for a friend meet up, we hadn't seen each other in a year and the person I spoke to to book a table were brilliant, advised us of the best table and said there was table service if needed We got there and the staff were amazing! I feel terrible because they told us their names which at the time I remembered but the blooming cocktails were that strong I had completely forgot! They were amazing though, so friendly and chatty and couldn't do enough for you Fast forward to tonight, I suggested we go there for my leaving do and the same amazing peeps was on the bar! They made my friend 2 zombies....there is a reason why they limit it to two 😂 they were lovely though haha If anyone wants a place to have some lovely strong cocktails, an opportunity to chat and some amazing service this is the place to be!

I hired the upstairs room for a leaving party and it was excellent! The staff are very helpful and accommodating. The room size is perfect for a small gathering and we able to use the speakers and had access to decorate beforehand. They offered a wide range of drinks for reasonably priced too. Would definitely recommend ☺️

I planned a 1920s themed surprise party at Now Serving for my partners 30th birthday. It was an absolutely amazing night and I can't thank the venue staff enough for all their hard work throughout the evening. The manager helped design the night and made it so special by creating a bespoke cocktail package tailored to my partners favourite flavours and common sayings and quotes. The event was a private one so we were able to decorate how we wanted and had the music tailored to our taste. The venue has always been a great favourite of mine but even more so now! A lot of the family and friends who attended had not been to the venue in the past but said they will definitely be returning :) thank you guys!

Now Serving is located in a basement. There was an unpleasant odour near the main bar. I thought the whole area looked in dire need of refurbishment, or at the very least, a jolly good clean. Apologies that I cannot give a better review.

One of Wakey’s few decent. Bit of a hidden gem given it’s tucked underground, down a back street. Great atmosphere and smashing venue for a private party. Massive selection of beers (mainstream and craft), wine, spirits and cocktails. Only gripe is the cost of their draught craft beers - out pricing some of Leeds’ popular bars

Booked beer pong for a hen do. When we arrived we were advised they had double booked us and moved us next door to Velvet. The bar was absolutely freezing and we were the only people in there. No atmosphere at all. What a real disappointment.

Joined our friends for a meal and drinks in the 'Vault' in Qubana tonight to celebrate their anniversary. What a wonderful experience, and enjoyed by all. We got to be in the actual Vault as a private party. The food. The staff and the overall experience was excellent. I personally had the lamb to start. Followed by the Flat Iron steak as a main. It was absolutely perfect. Fantastic food. ALL the staff, and l mean ALL. Were fantastic. Very attentive. Very helpful. Spoke to a lady who l assume was the manager. We all passed on our delight at the food and staff. Thank you for listening. Sorry, we didn't get your name. Or the names of your staff. But you're all appreciated. Whoever cooked our food. A lovely work meal. I had steak which was gorgeous, chose not to order chips alongside and genuinely didn't need them, steak was very filling. Friends had club sandwich and wraps from lunchtime menu 😊 Really clean, nice atmosphere.

It was on my bucket list to visit since it opened. I had to call to book a table. During the call I stated I would need access for my walking frame and they said it would be fine. When arrived there were a few stairs up to reception and when I was being directed to my table there were a few more stairs. They could see my rollator which is my walking frame and they didn’t give me any other options. My Dad had to help me up the stairs and down again when we had finished. So whether there is any wheelchair access at all or not, I don’t know. I certainly wasn’t offered any. They also add a 10% tip to your bill, so please check for this before you pay. We hadn’t realised it until we got home but we had paid over £8 with this tip, which is more than we would tip normally. The place in general is different from the norm. It has a nice atmosphere and tasty food, but because I use a mobility aid I doubt I will be able to visit this place again because of the stairs.

Wedding 9.8.2025 Roof terrace was a great venue for an intimate private wedding reception. The waiting staff did a fantastic job getting everybody's orders out to them we had a great selection of food and the bar staff Kai and Jonny were super friendly and looked after us very well from the afternoon into the evening. We all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

Wedding party- 9th August. Finally getting around to writing our review but what a fab time we had! Everything leading up to the day was perfect, strong communication, all decisions led by us and a real excitement was shown from all the team to hold our event. Nothing was too much and we genuinely can’t thank everybody enough. We are so grateful to all the staff that were a part of our day, especially Kai, Johnny, Sophie and Louise for making it absolutely perfect. They were so professional throughout but were still so friendly and had a laugh with us all, making it feel that they genuinely cared to be a part of it. A big thank you also to the owners. You have a beautiful venue and a fantastic team. Qubana has always been one of our favourite places and now it holds even more importance and memories for us. 💕

Me and my partner came in on Saturday for a date night as we had not been in for a while and it has been my favourite restaurant since being 18, staff are always so friendly and welcoming serving us drinks and getting us seated so quickly- Service was perfect and food was delicious as always; Sophie (special mention) was beyond a pleasure to both speak to and receive perfect service from she was amazing, we’ll always come back.

Really impressive setting that contains your classic Mediterranean-inspired British restaurant... It's a really nice vibe. However, sadly, the food is less impressive. For the price you should be wowed, but the standard of the food is totally unremarkable. It's just.... Fine. What did leave an impression was the tiny portion sizes. Want to feel full? Don't order from the tapas menu. This place epitomises the jokes about "small plates" being a way of extracting every penny from you whilst ensuring you are never really full. Desserts were delicious, however. The staff are friendly but forgot items ordered and it was difficult getting the bill. All told, it promises much in a cool building with nice decor and a good menu. However, we felt the food didn't deliver and the small portion sizes, when considered alongside the cost, left us feeling hungry and in need of snacks back home - we would have run out of cash before we ran out of space for food!

We booked a table for our anniversary and, although our name was on it, another person was sat there despite several other free tables nearby. However this wasn’t the staff’s fault, and we were seated elsewhere without fuss. Service started very well — our food arrived within 10 minutes and was absolutely delicious. My husband enjoyed a pate starter followed by a burger, while I had olives then the halloumi skewer with flatbread and hummus. Plates were cleared promptly, and we decided to finish with mini desserts and coffee. Unfortunately, this is where things went wrong. After waiting 25–30 minutes with no sign of our order, I went to the bar to check. A waiter came over to confirm what we had ordered, and eventually the coffees arrived after another 10 minutes — lukewarm by the time we drank them. The desserts never came, and after waiting a further 15 minutes we gave up, paid, and left. I did speak to the manager, who apologised and kindly reduced our bill, but the long delays and confusion left us disappointed and really took the shine off what should have be a special evening EDIT: I’ve received a reply from the ‘owner,’ though it feels like a standard response asking, “How can we better assist you in the future?” If the review had been read more carefully, they would have seen that I already spoke with a manager at the time. What would make the biggest difference is ensuring clear communication within their team, so issues can be properly addressed without the need for repetition.

Great pub, good food and incredible vibe throughout. Had a good selection of children’s food and a varied menu that suited all of us. Our server, Finley, was very helpful and constantly checking in throughout our meal which made the evening a lot more enjoyable. Overall a very nice dining experience.

me and my friend bronwen came into this establishment for the first time today and the service we received was absolutely impeccable. This amazing server Finley was so lovely, charming and welcoming. He made us feel at home in this place. Very rarely have we had service like this which accompanied such great food. Thank you so much will come again.

We’ve never been to the Red Kite before, and we will come back! Brilliant staff, Leia/manager served us, very friendly and informative, the food was prompt and freshly cooked. I’ve got a gluten intolerance and they couldn’t do enough for me. Really clean, great management, would recommend the Wakefield Red Kite for evening meals.

We had an amazing meal in the red kite but I just couldn’t finish this review without mentioning the out of this world, stand out service from Finley, he was just so positive! Wow! When I was feeling unsure about which drink to have he gave me the BEST recommendation showing the knowledge and dedication he has for his job. AMAZING!!!! I will be back soon, thank you all.

Had the pleasure of dining here today ,food outstanding had the tomato soup and steak pie for main , very tasty ,excellent service our waiting on staff, Veronica and Cath couldn't have been more helpful and friendly ,will definitely be dropping by again soon ,would highly recommend

Food was very nice, really nice atmosphere nice and chilled. Children enjoyed the food also. The service was great and Emily looked after me and my family. She went out of her way to give my disabled son a desert they didn't have on the menu (for free) would recommend any family to come to the red kite for Sunday lunch.

Shame on me: I had not visited this truly fantastic museum before, despite living less than an hour from it. It is worth visiting just for the building itself. The way the whole lot is perfectly combined with the location, its surroundings, including the river, with a cute garden housing some sculptures, the main bridge to access the museum from the car park, is superb. The curated collection in the museum is simply magnificent. I visited attracted by Helen Chapwick's "Life Pleasures" exhibition, and my high expectations were gladly met: thought provoking, full of unexpected beauty, really original. The shop is well supplied, and the coffee room was quite enjoyable: well attended, with great coffee and a good variety of food. The atmosphere was the best for me, in my opinion: although not empty, it was quiet and I had the chance to go across some of the pieces without waiting for others to leave me room. I guess it helped I went in a school day. There were plenty of lockers to leave your bags should you want to. But I could enter with my small backpack. The toilets, like the rest of the museum, were very clean, and all working well. The only negative remark is the car park: my sat nav did not give me the right directions, and I found the sign directions were not totally clear? It cost £4 for the full day. Considering that the ticket to the museum was free (as a resident in Wakefield district), I do not think it is fair to complain.

What a stunning hidden gem! We honestly didn’t realise The Hepworth Wakefield has been here since 2011 — and it’s literally so close to us! The building itself is beautiful, modern and full of character, and the whole space is very calm and inspiring. Today we also discovered the Elizabeth Fritsch – “Otherworldly Vessels” exhibition, and it was absolutely fascinating — so different, unusual and artistic in a very unexpected way. The museum is well organised, staff are friendly, and there’s a lovely riverside café to relax afterwards. Perfect weekend spot for anyone who enjoys art, culture and discovering something new. Highly recommend — Wakefield is definitely more arty than I thought! 🎨👏

The gallery was excellent.We saw the Helen Chadwick exhibition. I would highly recommend it. Sadly, the cafe had a long wait for food. However, the quality more than made up for the wait. It was delicious.

A brilliant variety of work that covers most forms of art... Staff were amazing, knowledgeable and extremely friendly... Loads of on site activities for the younger ones to keep them engaged. And a great bacon butty, what else do you need

Absolutely brilliant visit. Love the place. The current exhibitions are superb and work very well together. Excellent accessibility and inclusion. Nice gift shop - small but with some interesting stuff. They don’t accept Amex - I get how the fees are higher and they are a charity.. but kind of - I’m not if that makes sense - I am personally missing out by not using Amex. Would rather the ticket price be slightly higher if you needed but if you’re going to show Amex accepted on your contactless pay terminal you should accept it. Downside - the car park over the road has THE most confusing pay experience I’ve ever come across (I’ve been driving for 30+ years). It may not be owned or run by the Hepworth but from an outsider looking in perspective, it’s their car park, all signs suggest etc. absolutely dreadful experience.

A wonderful experience after a long drive up from Devon. This made our day. Fabulous exhibitions of paintings, ceramics and sculptures.

Christmas Eve family get together at the Rhubarb Triangle. Had a very enjoyable lunch. 2 of us ordered from the Festive Menu, 2 courses for £15.99, extra £3 for a third course. Others ordered from the main menu. A couple of the Festive Menu dishes were unavailable, which was a shame, but still a good choice of options. Food was all very nice and we were given a voucher for 25% off food throughout January!

Enjoyed my meal here, I had garlic mushrooms starter, which were disappointing as they didn't taste anything like garlic, mammon with egg and pineapple which is unusual you get both and it was delicious. Desert was some sort of apple crumble in a slice with custard which was quite nice. The staff were very friendly and efficient I would return.

Really friendly staff, great value and good gluten free options. I normally bad for the kitchen staff and a bit awkward when asking about gluten free options but the staff are really knowledgeable and nice about it.

Had the mixed grill. It was really tasty, and nicely cooked. Quick and friendly service was a plus. Update: Still wonderful staff, and had a lovely burger today ( Tuesday ). Big Stack Burger. Really succulent and juicy. Update: The unlimited cooked breakfast is absolutely epic. Tasty and crucially hot, too. Too many cooked breakfasts are served barely warm, but this was lovely and hot. Well worth a visit.

Never had a bad meal from here. Matthew is a credit to this place. He’s fantastic at his job and a wonderful person! Would also like to praise Trish who is also fantastic. Not a long wait time and great value food options.

Good Brewers Fair dining pub. The food is very reasonably priced and good pub food without being exceptional. The bottomless fizzy non-alcoholic drinks is a welcome addition. It's friendly without being too much in your face. A good place for lunch or dinner.

A party of 4 adults. Food was mostly very nice. One member of the party had mixed grill and couldn't eat the beef as it was too sinewy but enjoyed the rest of his meal. The other three enjoyed their meals

Attended on a Sunday afternoon. The restaurant was less than a quarter full. The car park across the road is free on a Sunday and just a two minute walk away. There is parking on the road outside the restaurant, but spaces are limited. This restaurant doesn't know what it wants to be and as a result it doesn't quite do it's dishes justice. Are you Indian, Japanese, English, Thai... What? Don't get me wrong, it's edible, but it just didn't stand out. I feel they were trying to offer too much variation in the menu and not able to really focus down on getting each dish spot on. Starters average £8-9 and are tiny. Mains thankfully have better portion sizes and offer better value for money. However, I actually got bored eating the ramen noodles and left half of it, it was uninspired and the amount of meat was minimal. I would of been lucky if there was half of one small chicken breast worth of meat in it. I suggest they cut down the bowl size and increase the meat content for that dish? Sadly, the toilets were a bit of a mess, I nearly slipped over on the tiled floor. The restaurant wasn't particularly busy, so I've no idea how long it had been that way. They just need to step up their toilet inspections and that would take care of that issue. On the way to the bar you pass the kitchen. Weirdly there was a pile of Yorkshire puddings on the draining board (I'm hoping they were just there ready to throw away and not actually stored there). There were also pans, half full of food and covered in black carbon just laid all around. If I had noticed the state of the kitchen when I walked in, I may not have stayed to eat. Surely when your kitchen is on display you at least make an effort to keep it clean and tidy? This restaurant has potential to be so much better. I'm not saying anything new either, several people have already said many of the points I've raised. Management just need to take note. On a plus point, the staff are lovely. Thank you for looking after us.

Robatary has always been a great spot for me and my friends. Unfortunately, the dish I always have had fallen short. The Crispy Chili Chicken with rice was just too salty for me to eat. The other food my friends had was still nice though. Don't get me wrong, the restaurant was till great, a good selection of drinks too. The place was clean and tidy. I will be back, but I hope the food is less salty!

Second time visiting and as good as I remembered, my cousin who I I introduced it to loved it so much she went back a few days later to find there was a midweek offer on too. Food is gorgeous with loads of great options. A lovely place with nice decor and friendly staff.

The staff were lovely checking everything was okay. The manager was super friendly and even had a chat with us. The staff all are friendly with each other and it creates a great atmosphere in the restaurant. The food hit every taste bud and was absolutely delicious! Definitely recommend guys just pop in you won’t regret it.

Visited Robatary for Sunday lunch with two friends, a baby, and a toddler. Although we arrived late, the staff were understanding, which we appreciated. Unfortunately, that was the only highlight of our visit. We all ordered from the Sunday lunch menu and added two cauliflower cheese sides. Out of all the mains, only one dish arrived warm—the rest were disappointingly cold. The gravy was particularly unpleasant: thick, cold, and separated with a layer of oil. We politely asked for one main and the sides to be reheated. After a ten-minute wait, the food returned only slightly warmer—still far from acceptable. By that point, we had waited so long that it did not seem worth the argument to take it back once more. To make matters worse, the restaurant was nearly empty when we arrived, so the delays felt especially unjustified. After the food issues, the atmosphere shifted. The staff became noticeably distant, and when we paid, we weren't even thanked—a basic courtesy that speaks volumes about customer service. Sadly, this was our first and last visit to Robatary. With cold food, long waits, and poor service, it was a disappointing experience all around.

Easily the best restaurant in Wakefield. Some of the best food I’ve had my whole life, everything I get here seems to be delicious without a doubt. I’ve been here multiple times and will always keep coming back. Both food and drink are out of this world. Such a perfect spot for a date too since the atmosphere is just so good. Great decor with small intimate lighting for the tables, makes it really feel like it’s just you and the person across from you dinning alone. My parents have also visited the place and weren’t fans of the Asian inspired food so it’s something to keep in mind but regardless a great spot for drinks even if you’re not interested in the food.

Nice mid price restaurant offering a decent selection of far east Asian food. I do feel like the menu used to be a bit more exciting, but the food is still very nice. Coconut chicken curry was beautiful.

We are staying in the Walton hotel & thought at short notice we'll pop in the New Inn for tea. Ill be honest our bill came to £40 for my wife & I which is more than we normally pay on average. However the whole evening was spot on and we absolutely could not find any faults with the Food, presentation, service & atmosphere. In fact it was worth every penny.

On a little stroll in the countryside, my partner and i stumbled upon this lovely place where we had a drink and enjoyed the outside seating. Modernised pub with professional staff. Shame that the lady had to jump between reception and bar. Had to ask to be served, which is never good. It was not her fault. We enjoyed our drinks, and our journey continued.

Great quality and value food...had the roast beef baguette with chips, nice and tender and the piri chicken burger nice and hot, both exceeding expectations.

What a wonderful Golden Wedding anniversary, of my younger brother and wife, celebrated here. We were amazed how such a large party could be catered for with so many different choices of food in 3 courses. The food was excellent, and the friendly professional service was amazing. Although we were 100 miles from home would love to come back and share the wonderful food and atmosphere here.

We called in today for a drink and decided to eat outside as it was a decent day when we ordered drinks we was told food wait was 30 mins before we could order, which we found strange as the person stood next to me at the bar had just ordered 2 fish and chips which wasn’t a problem? We went back to the bar 40 minutes later to be told that we had to wait another 30 minutes before we could order bearing in mind the pub wasn’t busy at all and the garden was basically empty, been before and seen it packed and wasn’t a issue. Staff behind bar are plain rude and they just don’t care, you never see them smile and they just ignore you while other people get served who arrived after you. Then to top it off as we was going Apple Pay came through on her phone saying we had been charged £43.45 for 1 latte, when we told the older person behind the bar the issue she just didn’t care, really rude and wouldn’t surprise me if she meant to do it. Didn’t get a receipt either of refund. between us 5 and the other couple sat outside they missed out on roughly about £300 Would avoid due to poor customer service, owner needs to look at his staffing issue

Came here for sunday lunch after visiting family & they recommend it . Definitely lived up to the hype . Staff attentive,good beer & great tasting food . Made space for a dessert & the summer fruit sponge pudding to die for ,all hand made 😋 . Only gripe & its a small one . Would've liked a turkey option ,hence the three stars Value for money,just over £50 for two mains ,desserts & drinks . Bargain will definitely be returning :))

Just been for Sunday lunch and can definitely recommend. Great food and unbelievable service. All servers were lovely (think their names were Becca, Mia, Courtney, Courtney). Will be returning. The garlic mushrooms and beef nachos are to die for, the dinners are unbelievable I need a life supply of the mash and the sticky toffee pudding to put in my partners words was “the most sticky toffeest pudding ever”

We went for drinks only. Nice pub with a small rear car park. Some parking also at the front. Pool, darts, and large connect four. Outside seating Smoking area Bar snacks and home made sausage rolls.

Great British food, busy for a Monday but service was quick and with a smile. Didn’t get the waitress’s name but she was very friendly. My wife and son couldn’t decide on which pie to get so ordered both and shared. We all shared the starters so we could try a bit of everything, all very tasty.

It was the first time we've been for pie night and it didn't disappoint. The slice of pie was as big as the welcome we received from the friendly polite staff. The food quality was amazing and if you like your pies full of meat you'll love this place. The kids enjoyed their food and cleared their plates as quick as we did, they even asked to come again and for £3 for pie and £3/£2 for fries,mash or veg well definitely be coming again soon.

Lovely little pub me and my partner have regular dates here! The steak pie is out of this world! My favourite place to go for food everything is delicious! Staff are friendly and welcoming. Highly recommend!

The menu here felt less homemade and leaned more towards American-style comfort food, like burgers. When we ordered the pies (both the chicken and the beef), we found them to be tough and difficult to chew, and unfortunately, we weren't able to finish them. It's a shame, as the pub has such a long and interesting history, but in my opinion, it seems to have lost some of its traditional British authenticity.

Disgusting ! Chips burnt and rock hard. Peas Rock hard. Steak and kidney pie only two and a golf inches in diameter and only contained 1cm cube of steak and two miniscule morsels of of kidney. Ate the tiny non existent pieces of meat and left everything else. And the price was extortionate.

Food looked excellent although we didn't try it, the sharing platter for 2 and 4 people looked really nice and empty plates so must have been good. Relaxed open outside seating area, good music, we could chat without being disturbed by others or usual loud music. Just a really great clean place.

Took our father-in-law for father's day the Tuesday after that day at his request. I've never really enjoyed it there but it was his choice. He and my wife had Ceaser Salad which was fine though the portion was quite small. I had a burger which promised two types of burger squeezed into one juicy burger. Hmmm. There was nothing juicy about it and it didn't taste of much either, in fact it was quite dry and firm. A small amount of lettuce sprinkled on top and a couple of small onion rings were added but it left a lot to be desired. The chips admittedly were terrific. I'd rather have gone up to Popeye's. Much better value as this place ain't cheap.

Visited today at a busy lunchtime and I could not fault the food or service. We sat at a family friendly booth which included a tv showing CBeebies which was perfect when dining with a toddler. Meals were fresh and tasty and excellent value for money, the homemade chips were fantastic. We will be back soon!

This place is amazing for a sunny day. We wanted a pub lunch, and that's what we got. Didn't look like much from the outside but go around the back, and there's plenty of places to sit. The place is clean, the staff are friendly. We ordered sharing nachos to start with, followed by chicken and bacon burger and hunters chicken (see photo's attached). Portion sizes and the quality of food were great. Food came out pretty quickly, and the service was great as it was busy as well. The dessert was a ok, only thing that let it down was the fudge cake itself was a little over done and dry on the edges but there was plenty of cream and chocolate sauce to sort that out. Overall, this was a pleasant surprise how nice it was, and I'll definitely be visiting again.

Dropped in for Sunday lunch and wish we hadn't it was absolutely garbage yorkshire puddings were stodgy the mash tasted like powder stuff and as for the meat it was like boot leather, an empty car park should have been a clue. There's more reviews on trip advisor, avoid this place.

1st visit and lovely place. Food was tasty, well cooked and well presented and not over priced.

Nice first floor bar, small but with plenty of seats. You don't have to go to the restaurant to use as it has separate entrance so you're not walking through diners. Good for cocktails and spirits, but not a big selection of beers on tap.

I come to Bar Biccari regularly and have always been pleased with the food . Unfortunately , last night that was not the case the food was distinctly average . The roasted peppers with cheese were well below par and very bland. The portions were very small for the prices charged. We all had a pasta dish from the specials board for mains . Although it was delicious, the portions were again , much smaller than on previous visits . All 3 of us came away hungry. We declined to have a sweet because we didn't like anything on the menu and were afraid the portions would be small. We were most disappointed with the whole experience and will.not be returning and will pass on these comments to our immediate families and friends.

The food was lovely, especially as we were a party of over 20. Everything was hot and cooked lovely. The staff were very friendly and efficiently served everyone. First time visit but will be going again. Think it would be a 5 but didn't get chance to have a good look around.

Giving 2* because I feel harsh giving 1* as the food was good but the service was absolutely shocking!! One waiter gave us a look of disgust for leaving abit of food, I watched him walk off and give the same look to a waitress who then looked straight over at us and smirked at the waiter until she saw me watching. They hounded us for drinks all the way through out meal but once it came to paying they left us for 50 minutes until I managed to shout someone over for the bill. I wish I could give them 5* as I absolutely love this place but the waiters killed it for us tonight. Even worse as I bragged to my friend and brought her here tonight.

A lovely cathedral worthy of a visit. It was so peaceful. The stained glass windows are stunning. A small gift shop.

wow, what an amazing Cathedral. I just happened to visit when there was an abseil event on so that was lots of people outside watching people come down on ropes. Lovely building and well worth a visit if your in the area and its free too !

Beautiful classic Cathedral, bang in the centre of Town. Good access from both the front door (steps) or side door (flat access). A good size carpark is only a 5 min walk away.

Even though live nearby visited this cathedral for first time. It's up there with more renowned cathedrals. Friendly informative staff lots of architecture and stained glass windows. It's free admission can make a voluntary donation.

It was very quiet when I visited with no volunteers around to greet or help. But it was a lovely visit as you can spend so much time admiring the stained glass windows and the architecture. There are candles available for use. Plenty of space for calm prayer and reflection. There is a small gift section, but there was no staff there on the Monday afternoon I visited.

It's a bar that serves food. Other people seemed to be enjoying themselves. Our drinks were weak. I even got a shot, that wasn't even a full pour. I ordered salmon and asparagus over pasta, I tried to play "find the salmon" and was severely disappointed. And there MAY have been one piece of pasta that was cut into it. If you want a restaurant, you may want to find someplace else. But, as I said, others seemed to be enjoying themselves.

Wonderful service and very tasty food. The pork belly dish really impressed my husband, the prawns were excellent, and the classic bruschetta was amazing. The cocktail was perfect too. We highly recommend this place and will definitely come back again!

Lovely chilled 'holiday' vibe...pretend the sea is outside. Beautiful food from the bowl of olives which came with a tasty small chopped salad, oil and dipping bread to the main courses which were rich and plentiful. Excellent value for money and service also excellent from Gerald. Also nice to see staff cleaning the bottoms of chairs and table legs in the restaurant . Sign of a clean mentality throughout. Please come here and try for yourself.

Fantastic little find. Had bank holiday cocktails on the Sunday and we ended up staying there for hours! Fantastic service, friendly staff and great atmosphere. Couldn't believe it when the guy behind the bar came over with this platter... We said we hadn't ordered food and he said 'this is on us, thank you!' You don't often find places like this. We'll definitely be back...

I had a charming and delicious time here for a quiet dinner for one. The lasagna was authentic tasting and the menu prices were extremely reasonable. A beautiful environment with excellent service made this an excellent choice for dinner.

I have eaten here a couple of times and the food has been of a really good quality and decent sized portions. The staff are friendly and professional and always appear willing to help. Only draw back was a Sunday afternoon lovely weather and a live band on later in the afternoon. This maybe for some but not for me I prefer my food and drink and be able to chat too. However I will be back undettered

Was staying overnight in the town and came across this place on here and so thought we’d give it go, especially after reading the reviews. It did not disappoint. Was such a lovely place to go to on a Saturday summer’s evening. Great atmosphere and friendly service, which seemed to cater for everyone. No shortage of spots to sit with a good view. I opted for the burger which was really tasty whilst my partner had the vegetarian pizza, which was a bargain at £12. Would totally recommend to anyone who’s passing by, like we were.

Atmosphere nice, staff friendly and helpful but the amount of food you get for the price ( Sunday lunch) meant it was quite expensive. Mainly potatoes and more potatoes with a Yorkshire pudding, a couple of pieces of veg and alittle meat. It tasted nice but I was disappointed the amount that was on the plate for the price. It's 17.99 for 1 adult course and the price increases if you want a desert or starter. You can take dogs if you do wish which I guess is a bonus for some people

Dropped in for a couple of drinks on a Saturday afternoon and sat in the beer garden. Service at the bar was great. Polite, professional and swift. We ordered a couple of sandwiches off the menu which took around 40 minutes to be served BUT once they did arrive they were very good indeed and we're very reasonably priced too. Shocking! Booked for Christmas dinner for 12 of us Richard the director provisionally booked our table in, was going to email me with the finer details, menu , price etc I emailed today to chase up see when they needed deposits etc only to be told by a RUDE lady that they haven’t booked us in and can only seat us at 6pm now on Christmas Day! Making out it’s our fault not theirs ?! We don’t want Christmas dinner at 6pm. We wanted it when we booked it in! Absolutely appalling and now 12 of us don’t have anywhere to go on Christmas dinner as everywhere is booked up. The original booking was made in July!!

A message for the owner Richard, seen as though he cannot be bothered to respond to my email dated 8/7/25 following our wedding party 5/7/25. Hi Richard, We’re writing to express our deep disappointment following our wedding celebration at your venue on Saturday, and to raise serious concerns given the lack of communication from you since. The experience was a disorganised mess. When we arrived at 4pm as agreed with you to decorate, the chef was already starting to prepare the 35 pizzas, which were going to be brought out at 5pm… our party did not start until 6pm and we had organised with you that same week for them to come out at 7:30pm . Members of the public were sitting on the lower terrace that was supposed to be reserved for us , while the tables inside the tent were dirty and still covered in empty glasses — hardly the welcome we expected for our wedding party and these only got moved/cleaned because we went inside and asked. More upsetting, however, was the behaviour of your manager. She was extremely rude, dismissive, and made no effort to apologise or reassure us. Instead, she chose to argue with me in front of our guests and your paying customers which was both embarrassing and unprofessional. Her lack of communication skills and empathy was shocking — she acted more like a petulant teenager than someone responsible for running events at what we thought was a respectable venue. Her attitude completely overshadowed what should have been one of the happiest days of our lives. I was left in tears at my own wedding party, which is something I never imagined saying. In contrast, we want to highlight Corrie, who was outstanding. She was attentive, empathetic, and did everything in her power to salvage the situation. She is a real credit to your team and should be recognised for her professionalism and compassion. Unfortunately, the overall experience highlighted serious flaws in your setup: poor internal communication, a lack of preparation, and a general sense of disorganisation. One of your own staff members even told us they didn’t know there was a wedding party scheduled, which made us feel completely overlooked and unimportant. Just to note from the beginning Richard has been poor at responding to emails and didn’t even show up for our first look around the venue earlier this year. We gave him the benefit of the doubt with this being a new venture but we really wish we wouldn’t have bothered. We would not recommend having any sort of celebration here.

Been here a few times over the last few months for birthdays. Been served on each occasion by Michelle! What a lovely attentive women who goes out of her way to look after and speak to customers. She does a great job and makes us want to go back! Thankyou Michelle. Only thing I would add is there needs to be a better pizza selection. Eg meat fest etc not many on menu.

Staff v helpful. Lovely staff actually the dude with the bear and shaved head and the shorted lady with t shirt on. Very warm and helpful. Food plentiful. Facilities good for our kids. They need some more colouring in and crayons. They gave our kids chalk and black boards. Which was a nice thing to improvise with

Poor service, had to wait an hour for our food and when it arrived it was inedible. The roast beef was tough and full of fat, the Yorkshire pudding was full of grease and the roast potatoes were as aged as nails. Definitely wouldn’t recommend.

Had a lovely meal this evening. I went for mac n cheese starter with buttermilk chicken topping. Wow! Such good value, expected to be a smaller meal with it being a starter but it wasn't. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Sally and Frances were working tonight and were very helpful. Thank you

The bridge inn is great, affordable prices especially in this day and age! Came for food since it changed hands and it was so good we’ve been back multiple times. The seating area is serene! The staff are friendly, especially Siena who was very welcoming! Great service all round! Thanks guys

Took my Mum for roast beef Sunday lunch a few weeks ago and we both agreed it was outstanding. She's really picky about fatty bits, and was delighted that it was so lean. We'll be back for sure for the friendly welcome! Thanks all.

First time here since the changes and new owners. Atmosphere is so much better compared to other places, able to just go in, sit & order food & the leave😂...Sometimes you really just don't want that in your face service, we still found the staff to be attentive. Food was great as always, feel like there's much more of a range of selection now & still reasonably priced. Will be coming again x

Curious little piece of history and an insight into how things were done in the era of the Platagenets. Its a tiny space comprised of the Chapel and the crypt below. The roof was off limits sadly when the Chapel was open as part of the programme of Heritage events. On street parking on the industrial estate is limited, there is a council car park 5 mins walk away, or the Bridge pub. It's probably the best place for refreshments and facilities close by.

A little gem packed with history, lots of information and a volunteer on hand to answer any questions. If you fancy the tight squeeze you can go look downstairs. Could just do with a bit more information when it is open. There is a few carpark spots on the North side of the bridge. Also a good place to watch wildlife in the river

Not oft open, it was a treat to find it so and enter this ancient place of worship. The crypt reminded me of the film "In Brugge". Don't try to go down there of youze a herd of elephants!

Chapel with glorious stained glass windows. Went to the first fine dining experience there last night, 5 course meal and drinks prepared by top chef. Highly recommended.Small but very nice quaint church. Over weir at side love hereLovely little Chapel. Enjoyed going down into the crypt.

What a fantastic pub, The staff are cheery and the new landlady is welcoming and jolly. Whenever I’ve been in there, the atmosphere has been relaxed and the staff approachable. Everywhere is lovely and clean and the beer garden is a must to visit. There are a variety of drinks, including zero alcohol and the Range of drinks is great. There is a dartboard and pool table, so no time to get bored. There is entertainment at the weekend and karaoke on Thursdays, It’s actually quite fun. This is definitely a pub which should be visited.

Wow well what can I say about this place... The landlady is very welcoming and so are the bar staff such a friendly environment. Since the new landlady been in it's been very clean and welcoming.. the best djs about ready for a another thirsty Thursday. Nip in have a look for yourself you won't be disappointed 😊

The new land lady is very rude , she makes you feel very unwelcome. Tammy was lovely , such a shame she left . This pub does not feel as friendly or welcoming any more. We have been regular customers visiting 4 or 5 times a week, and we thoroughly enjoyed our time spent in The Fleece. Your new manageress no longer makes us feel welcome, and because of this we have now decided to frequent a different public house. Common courtesy, a welcoming smile and a few kind words are surely not too much to ask.

Been in a few times in last few weeks it has a lovely welcoming feel when you go in great assortment off drinks on offer and the outside seating area is very nice will be visiting again with a few friends and toni and staff are very nice

We had our wedding ceremony and reception here and very pleased that we did. Laura and her team were very much on the ball with everything from start to finish. The majority of our 80 guests stayed at the hotel and there were no complaints with the rooms and hospitality - all guests were strongly approving and happy Back to the wedding venue , the marquee was spacious, warm, comfortable and had everything you would want The food was superb, we had both the BBQ and a buffet later The staff couldn't have possibly done more for us !! there was always someone checking all was ok and asking if needed anything plus using their intuition and just doing what obviously needed attention. The assigned DJ was a wizard with getting everyone involved, from kids games to accepting requests, talking to guests and getting an understanding of the best genre - amazing !! Loads of parking , kids outdoor play area, very spacious pub with segregation for groups, fair pricing at the bar. As you can tell I highly recommend people to check this place as a venue for a wedding or other celebration.

This is a review for my 1 night stay at this hotel. The bad - Although the rooms are clean, they are dated and have no air conditioning. The good. The beds are comfortable, with steaming hot water in the bathroom and an amazing breakfast. Staff were all very friendly and professional. Considering other places I've stayed in, this is one of the cleanest. The architecture is amazing and the location is superb. You are next door to a pub and restaurant, but it was so quiet. I had a good night's rest.

Absolutely HUGE venue. Big beer garden, and an enormous pub inside. And there’s a marquee for hire. The hotel is part of the same building but has a separate entrance. The food is classic British pub fare, but done really well. Excellent staff, and we were served brilliantly by Oliver. We were staying in the hotel and decided to have our evening meal in the pub, and we were not disappointed. Didn’t manage to take photos of our food because we inhaled it!

We had booked a table a week ago ,we're told they would ring back to confirm . No one did . Arrived today no table booked. Managed to get a table, ordered 2 Sunday lunches. Beef was so tough I couldn't even cut it , veg so al dented it was nearly cold, Yorkshire pudding dry and overcooked. Waiter asked if all was OK when he saw our still quite full plates as he cleared our table . I replied no we didn't enjoy it. He said was the beef tough! Obviously others had complained and he knew what was wrong . I was going to complain to the manager but as no one was around and we were in a rush we left. Holmfield Arms you need to do better

We came here with friends last night. All the food was delicious. I had the shepherds pie. It was scrummy. The other meals were the steak and ale pie. And the gammon. Everyone was pleased with the meals. And the sticky toffee pudding I was told was the best they'd ever had. On the down side the entertainment was way too loud. Whilst he was a brilliant singer it was far too loud. It was difficult for us to hear the waiter. Our waiter worked very hard but in general I think it was understaffed as we had long waits. But these things haven't deterred us and we will definitely return.

Decent enough for what seems like a lower end hotel. No Aircon and a bad iron for example, but then it's cheaper so you get what you pay for. The breakfast was excellent however - a really good full English and decent continental selection. The setting in the park is lovely, especially as you're so close and it's such an easy walk to the town.

Just had our wedding reception in the Marquee and I cannot sing their praises enough. From start to finish the wedding coordinators Laura and Jade have been fantastic! Cannot sing their praises enough. Value for money for a more budget friendly reception couldn't be better, the marquee is beautiful. The buffet food was delicious and generous. The staff were all incredibly friendly and polite especially the marquee bar staff, big shout out to you guys. All in all the venue couldn't have been more accommodating. Ourselves and several guests stayed at the hotel which was clean, beautifully presented and well equipped. Hotel front of house were all lovely too. And finally, Craig the DJ legend who fully embraced some of our groups alternative song choices. Book him in your package, I guarantee you there's nothing he can't work with. Thank you Holmfield cast and crew, you made our evening something to remember. 10/10 would do it all over again 😍

We waited 8 years for my autistic son to finally unite worlds between minecraft and reality and we heard half of the film which had my 11 year old daughter crying as we had a team of young yobs come to the cinema and they were in our screen they ruined the whole experience the staff didn't make any moves till an hour in to the film in which they sent a woman on her own bit later the gentleman staff came also but they were not thrown out many families left and youngsters who felt threatened it was quite sad were having to watch trailers to catch what was going on at the start of the film after the film I went to complain amongst other upset families the staff handled it very well and gave us free tickets for another time I don't want to slate the staff as they tried to help the best they could in the situation but I do believe cineworld could invest in some security the 100s they lost in 2 hours they could have paid 30 pounds towards a security member to keep the customers and staff safe this felt very out of control and left a bitter taste for trying to enjoy a Easter treat with my kiddos which put me back £100 myself with treats at the cinema in which a large popcorn is now in a little bag not a giant box I suggest you buy a medium.

Extremely Disappointing Experience at Cineworld Wakefield I recently attended the 17:20 screening of the Minecraft Movie at Cineworld Wakefield with my family, and unfortunately, the experience was deeply disappointing. During the film, a group of teenage boys began shouting and making disruptive noises, which caused significant distress to my daughter, who is autistic and particularly sensitive to loud noises. After informing a staff member about the situation, he assured me he would address it. While he briefly entered the theater and the noise stopped for a moment, it soon resumed, causing my daughter even more distress. We ultimately had to leave the cinema just 15 minutes into the film due to her upset. Upon leaving, another parent even remarked on the disruptive behavior of the boys. I reached out to management via email to express my concerns, and although there was an acknowledgment of my situation, the overall response did little to resolve the issue or offer any meaningful support. This experience has left me extremely disappointed with Cineworld's lack of appropriate action and support. As a result, my family and I have decided that we will no longer use your services. I hope Cineworld takes feedback like mine seriously and makes the necessary improvements to ensure a more supportive and respectful environment for all customers, especially those with neurodiversity.

Just returned from watching Joker in screen 7 and I have still not warmed up. It was so cold in there that I had to put the hood on my jumper up. I don't mind the nearly 10 quid ticket price, I don't think that snacks and drinks are value for money, only had a small popcorn and small Pepsi ,another 10 quid plus. But I don't expect to sit shivering through 40 minutes of crap adverts and previews and then the movie. Next time il take a blanket, or better still not bother.

It's a nice place to take the kids to and the environment is tidy. Free parking is also a plus and the location is easy to reach.

Staff were great, helped my boy choose what he wanted and a delight with him.when he was very hyper.

Nice, clean and comfy. It's occasionally a little understaffed, but not to the point it causes major problems.

Decent pint , however when I asked if they would have the rugby league on one of their many tvs I was told they don't really like rugby in the pub ( which is a lie as the only sports team shirt on display was a Wakefield trinity shirt ) I was told they are only having football and horse racing on tv today , which nobody is watching. I'm finishing my pint and going elsewhere.

The doughnuts are very sweet and sickly. I was disappointed with the filling because I thought it contained the flavour that they are shown but it’s just fresh cream inside with no flavour. Also the doughnuts were not fresh 😩 They are overpriced and not worth money. The staff were lovely though

Went in a sunday afternoon the Donuts used to be delightful now they have changed they are very dry hardly any filling anymore the flavour has changed no tast to them and the price has gone up Donuts look great ang huge but not worth the money spent on the box of 12 I will definitely not be going back.

We've been to the Doboy Donuts in Wakefield, but also the Coffee Boy (which sells Doboy Donuts!) in Huddersfield and Castleford. Absolutely incredible tasting donuts, and have already recommended these to several friends. Staff are always lovely and chatty. Honestly, if you're even vaguely near any of the Doboy Donuts, do yourself a favour and go and treat yourself! Trust me - you won't regret anything!

Great doughnuts! A much more interesting selection than a lot of the places around here and its cool that the flavours change each week! The birthday cake one was my favourite so far! My wife pestered me for days to go here and it did not disappoint. £3 a donut feels like a a lot but it's like a restaurant dessert. Heavenly is not an understatement. Great vegan range too if thats your thing

The parfait was so soft and flavoursome, the blade of beef crumbled beautifully and was stuffed with flavour and the melting snitch at the end was a decadent treat! Could not fault a single thing, the service was amazing, could easily hear my partner and have a conversation without raising my voice. Great value for both 2 and 3 courses. Would recommend to everyone!

Never had a bad meal here. The best Sunday roast in Yorkshire puddings to die for! Starters are a must i can never manage a pudding as well but they looks special. Staff are very attentive.

Decided to give this place another go. What a disappointment. The Sunday dinner is served in two parts. First is a plate with Meat a Yorkshire pudding and gravy. Accompanied by separate servings of vegetables. The Meat as well as being tough and the Yorkshire pudding and gravy were lukewarm. Now I appreciate that meat needs to be left to rest and that the Yorkshire’s will be batch cooked, but the gravy should have been piping hot and it wasn’t which indicates the whole plate had been sat on the side for a while. Also the gravy had lumps in it. See photo. I pointed these out to the waitress, stating that it was bad enough that they were using gravy granules, the least they could do was dissolve them properly. I was told that it was made from powder not granules. So I guess that’s alright then. £18.00 each for a lunch that was lukewarm with powdered gravy is totally unacceptable. The veg was hot hence the two stars.

First visit, Thursday May 1st. Wow. What’s not to like. Super menu where you are disappointed you can’t have every dish. We had the pork belly and braised beef, and the scotch egg, and the golden snitch, you really have to. Have eaten in many different places and this is right up there with the best. A real credit to the whole team, from start to finish. Staff attitude was that they simply wanted you to have a brilliant dining experience,, and they achieved that with ease. Can’t wait to be back ( actually back for tapas takeaway on Sunday! 35 mile round trip) Well done guys, and thank you for a superb evening

I like it here, I visit often. They do wine tasting nights and themed nights (I went to a Star Wars themed evening very recently). And they do very ordinary nights like this one too. Always very nice. Always reasonably priced for the kind of food you're getting. Always a nice atmosphere

One of the best meals I've ever had. Friendly staff and food worth going for. I had the heritage beetroot followed by the Lamb rump and millionaire shortbread and all 3 courses was brilliant.

Really decent pub food presented in a lovely way, the staff were really helpful and friendly. There are very nice views of the surrounding countryside. Outside seating is available also. I had the pea falafel and lentil Shepard's pie which I thoroughly enjoyed. My girlfriend had the lamb which she said was cooked with care and really liked it. Would recommend. Also came here years ago and the standards have not slipped.

It was our 2nd time there and we were treated like the 1st time except it was different people.taken to our table handed the menu and wine list told one or two details in very professional way. Our starters came in within the time they said after they had delivered the wine and my drink. It flowed nicely to our main course.there had been plenty to choose from menu/wine list. they asked we were enjoying the meal/drinks in a very pleasant way. It was the evening so the place was well attended but the staff coped very well. It was a very enjoyable evening for my wife and I. We shall return again definitely.

We came this afternoon for a late lunch, myself, husband and Mother in Law. We have been here a few times before and always had a great experience. Today however was a step even higher. I had the Smoked Haddock Fishcakes with crushed potatoes and tender stem broccoli and it was sensational! My husband had chicken and bacon salad and Mum had Fish and chips. Every plate looked and tasted wonderful. We will definitely be back!

Beautiful country pub, was very quite with plenty of parking, staff where very polite and friendly, lots of seating inside and by the fire, beautiful space outside overlooking the country side, the place was beautiful the food was oaky nothing special but the atmosphere and scenery made up for it.

Stopped in for a Sunday roast, four of us and a dog. Very friendly staff, sat us near one of the fireplaces. Food was good, perhaps could have benefitted from a little more seasoning. Portions were perfect. A great location offering beautiful views towards Huddersfield.

We came on the 6th June at lunch time for my parents 66th wedding anniversary. Karen, Stew and Lorna were a fabulous front of house team and we had a lovely chat with Karen and found out she lived where my father was born. The food, the atmosphere, and the lovely staff were exceptional and Holly and Dan in the kitchen prepared a chocolate drizzled “Happy anniversary”message with my Fathers pudding.. so Mum n Dad were very touched with their thoughtfulness. We also got a 20% discount voucher too which was a very special gesture. So thank u so so much we will definitely be back again.

I am super fortunate this is my local pub and myself and my partner love nothing more than coming here and taking friends and family to visit here as well! It is absolutely, without fail, always the perfect experience - the welcome and warmth of the lovely staff, the devine food, the range of drinks and food choices, the wonderful atmosphere, the decor, the scenery, it just has it all! Everyone who we take comments on how wonderful the place is! A special shout out to Lorna, who I always look forward to seeing, as she is just a ray of sunshine! All the staff are a delight! Had food today and it was absolutely amazing, bar staff and owners are very friendly. The atmosphere is incredible too. If you haven’t been down yet it’s definitely a pub you need to go to.

Went here a while ago and it was medecoca at best I keep on looking to go back cause the so called owner keeps saying it's being renovated for over a Yr and now it says temporary closed which dose not surprise me saying how poorly it was run the owner had a son there which was made known to me quickly by the regulars and he acted like he was above anyone and the owners did nothing about it horrible customer service. If this dose open again I would not recommend going as the whole family seems to be entitled and don't know how to run a business i would not be surprised if it close permanently due the actions of them

22/01/2024 Sunday lunch was lovely for all the 4 of us we were served by CJ and Destiny who were so lovely and very polite and fun to talk to the whole pub including the conservatory was very nice and clean and lovely and warm due to the air conditioning that was installed

If you have not been down to this Pub yet then you need to. The owners are fantastic along with the staff. They make you feel really welcome. The food is awesome and the kids portion fills me up. They now have a pool table. Sundays are great as you can go down and have a lovely Sunday dinner and then relax and watch the free singing entertainment. Great choice of beers as well and if you just fancy something light, they do the best pizza in town, all made fresh.

We are so pleased to have such a lovely local on our door step. Recently refurbished and with a new menu to enjoy. We had the pint and burger deal for £10 and it was so good. Great valve for money. We played pool and enjoyed some much needed family time together. Staff are friendly and welcoming too.

Ma B's hosted my daughter's 14 th birthday karaoke party. The girls had a fabulous time!. They really enjoyed themselves . The food provided was excellent. The staff on shift were great, really friendly and helpful. The girls loved it so much that they wanted to do it all again!! Thank you so much.

Cute little bar! Had a "jolly boys porter" which was really nice. The bar has an acoustic piano which is great condition and in tune. The bar let me play it for a bit, and I met a lovely man in there who told me about his band. I would definitely visit again.. it's great if you like unpretentious bars and good quality real ale

Would love to have given it 5 but no gluten free beers on tap makes it a 4. These days there are so many people who are coeliac and so many breweries putting on a gluten free ale, really shouldn't be a problem for these places. Nice atmosphere though 👍

Great place for a pint. The acoustics of the building means it can be a bit noisy, but unless you're billy no mates like me, it won't be much of an issue. Live music is always quality and the food's not bad either.

Love this bar. It’s such a great day place to enjoy a beer or a gin. My husband and I often share a grazing platter with our drinks. Jolly Boys - the last few time we’ve been it has been really cold in the bar. Any chance of turning the heating up? 😘

I came there at lunch time on Friday. The lunch set menu three course only £7.99. Food is great. And the service is very considerate. Many people there but not noisy. The toilet is really clean. I really enjoy my lunch.

Love the place but my god the music on saturday night was just so terrible. It so bad ive taken the time to leave this review lol. I was shocked that the music in pop world was miles better. A number of other people in bank also said how bad the music was not just me and the group of friends i was with. Im sad to say but if thats what music is going to be on now ill not be going back. God i hope they change it to good music

Pint of Neck oil and a double gin £18.90 it is worth noting my partner asked the waitress twice if the price was correct which was belligerently dismissed on both occasions, upon getting to our seats we did a small calculation (on the public houses own app), my partner returned to bar challenged and returned with £7 having been told we had been charged for 2 pints of lemonade we hadn't had (back to the app 2 pints of lemonade wasn't £7 either), overall very poor service. .

This place is immaculate and the prices for drinks cheap. Just been told that the owner spent 1.1 million on renovating the place and you can tell.

Quality pub, been coming for years and it's only got better since new land lady has taken over. Really friendly and helpful staff, the ambiance is really welcoming to everyone. A dog friendly pub which is always nice to see. Sunday dinners are fresh homemade and really nice. Highly recommend. Also got a pool team which is not bad either.

Such a lovely pub, me and my partner went for a drink on a Saturday evening. Great atmosphere, I’d imagine it being very cosy throughout the winter. Will definitely be back again. The two young ladies who run it were brill and provided great service.

We really love this wee pub when we are home in Wakefield. It's a combination of atmosphere, local people and the landlord who is both friendly and welcoming. Today we tried for the first time the Sunday roast that far exceeded our expectations. Plentiful, tasty and more than reasonable it will definitely be our Sunday dinner of choice when we are home. Highly recommend a visit or three...

A great pub and a top stop on any night out. The staff are friendly, funny and hard working. There's plenty of variety in drinks, multiple TV's to watch and a pool table for the competitive customers. The pub itself is clean with an inviting atmosphere.

Just moved to the area. Brilliant choice of beer and friendly people at the bar. Only thing that put me off was someone wearing Hi Viz Site clothing in the lounge. No problem with workers but just a bit off putting for a relaxing drink with the Mrs..

A nice pub with large outdoor seating area and carpark. This is an old pub so if tall like me mind your head inside with it having a low ceiling as all old pubs have. The staff are lovely and it has a welcoming feel. Clean inside and out

Fantastic afternoon spent in the beer garden. The staff are super friendly and the beer pours well! Had a couple of guinness before moving to whiskey. Both served well and table serve due to Covid is working well too

Where to start. First and last time coming to this pub today. It states friendly staff. Lol old bag serving was far from friendly i had to repeat myself twice as i think she left her hearing aid at home. 2 beers and two packets of crisps £8.55 she never even told me the total just took my card and paid contactless. VERY RUDE. A funeral home has more life in it. Will not be back again.

What a treat! Just a short walk from where we moored our narrow boat, the Asian street food (BaoBros) was outstanding, ditto the selection of beers on tap (OSS's Baghrest is the best stout I've had in a long while), and the folks serving and the chef were super friendly and helpful. All with a chilled vibe and canal/riverside location. Very much recommended.

Fabulous spot between the river and the canal. A very warm welcome from the girls serving and a great choice of beers on tap. Food was absolutely fabulous too - we had vegetarian dogs and bao buns and loaded fries - it was all delicious. We’ll definitely be back - hopefully next time the sun will shine so we can take advantage of the beautiful, extensive outdoor seating.

Sunny day, busy outside, live singer (acoustic) plenty of space inside to bring our pup, ordered food. Great staff downstairs. Dirty Fries & Wings were so good. Will definitely return here and try more food in a such a nice vibe location

I booked a surprise party for my husband’s 40th. From the start to the finish, I could not recommend The Hilton Lounge enough. Nicola and Marcus were fantastic in the booking process and in accommodating the low key celebration I was after. I dropped decorations off and they set up the area for me so I didn’t have to lift a finger. The separation curtain was a bonus as we still felt part of the bar but was clear we had our own section. I ordered pizzas as part of my package which came out throughout the night and Nicola kept checking in to see if we needed anything else. Everyone commented on how delicious the pizzas were. All the bar staff are super friendly and serve gorgeous cocktails, a range of beers and quality wines. It was the perfect vibe and we had the perfect night! Thank you to everyone at The Hilton Lounge!

Went over with a friend. Had the sharing platter and salmon pizza, with cocktails. All absolutely amazing! The food was lovely, and the cocktail variety was very nice to see, so many different options! Will definitely be coming back! Special thanks and love to Mia and Josh, love you guys x

Lovely little cocktail bar in the centre of Wakefield. Wouldn't be out of place in any of the presumed posh, trendy cities in the country but lovely to find something like this in Wakefield. Service was exceptional and the drinks reasonably priced. Well worth a visit

We, a group of 8, came in on Sunday at 9pm to find the 2 staff members sat at a table drinking wine and having some pizzas, declaring they were closed and turning us away, despite the bar closing at 11pm. They were very rude and unprofessional and have lost the bar a good deal of business on this evening. These 2 clearly just couldn't be arsed.

Visited last night, what a fantastic bar, the staff and cocktails made a great start to our night (hen doo).. can go outside for a vape without leaving the atmosphere made a fun night for us before leaving for the club.. keep up the good work guys! We will be back soon!!

A Small, Modern, Chic cafe with brilliant food and drinks. A group of 4 of us visited here last night for the 1st time and were very impressed. There is such a nice atmosphere here and the staff were super happy and welcoming. For drinks: We had pornstar martinis , spicy margaritas and red wine. The pornstars weren’t actually on the menu but they were happy to make them anyway. The cocktails were all freshly made, presented wonderfully and tasted great. For food: We started with the antipasti and cheese sharing board which had a few different cheeses, few different meats, bread and a couple of dips. This was tasty and would have again. Mains we all got pizzas which were freshly hand made using top quality products. Highly recommend and will definitely be going again. Thank you for the great food. Your team did you proud.

Absolutely sensational place, we are so lucky to have hidden in the area. Best cocktails I’ve ever had, incredible coffee and food always insanely good. Everything always to such a high standard and staff are so lovely and always go above and beyond. Always check out the specials board because Rachel is a genius. Can’t get enough of the place 👌

Amazing place. Our favourite place to chill and have brunch, a coffee or a cocktail. Their specials are insanely good and always worth checking out. The service is always great, super friendly and helpful. Staff always make sure you get the best experience possible. Cannot recommend this place enough. It’s also very dog friendly and it has the best pupcups (according to my dogs who will not walk past without trying to drag us in!)

First visit here on Sunday. Lovely little place! Immaculate cleanliness and decor. We ordered a French Toast and a full English. Best french toast I’ve ever had! So light yet perfectly flavoured and my partner said his was 10/10. The host, a lady with long dark hair was really friendly. We will definitely be back. The vibes and food were fab. Worth noting also dog friendly (they provide bowls of water) and they have aircon if you’re not one for this hot weather and want to sit inside

Saw some negative reviews and thought it only right to jump on here and give these guys the recognition they deserve! The staff are friendly, approachable and nothing is too much hassle. Food is amazing, and the drinks OMG the GOAT. The best spicy marg in town, will not be beaten! As a small business who have already faced a heck of a lot of hurdles and bumps in the road (literally with those month long roadworks) it bothers me to see people rate it so low when it genuinely is brilliant. Hidden / Nascosto keep doing what you’re doing, you’re smashing it!

Good music, friendly staff, good food, nice coffee, what a surprise find. Only initially popped in on the off chance it did coffee. It wasn't open yet, popped back later and had a nibble. Highly recommend, nice little hidden gem. Good after a visit down pit.

My friend and myself booked for Breakfast/Brunch this morning. She had a Breakfast . She said it was very tasty and just the right size. I had the special French toast it was stunning and delicious. They also do a range of specialist coffees. I had a blood orange espresso tonic very nice. I suggest you book its very small but that's part of its charm. The service is of the highest quality and the food matches.

Came here for cocktails and some food, the cocktails were absolutely fantastic. Cocktails ive never seen before. I tried the banana one. The peanut colada. The gateux one. All very nice. Well made and thought of. Premium alcohol used. The Seating in the garden was decent. Had overhead heaters. Staff were lovely... But the food menu we was given looked nice, but they wasn't serving most of it. Apparently they was waiting on stock. No chips. Also food hardly noone is familiar with. So we didn't eat

Super friendly welcoming staff. We had the bottomless brunch with cocktails, nothing was too much trouble. They even adapted some of the cocktails for us. I only knocked 1 star off in all fussiness as the food could have been a little bit better, homemade houmous would have elevated it to a 5 star review!

Nice cocktails great atmosphere, good covered heated outdoor space

One of few places in Wakefield where you can enjoy quality cocktails in a relaxed, cosy setting. The cocktail menu is varied and has something for all tastes - other drinks (beer, wine, spirits, etc.) are also available. Atmosphere wise, the music is set at a reasonably volume to allow for conversation – so there’s no need to shout over a table, unlike some other bars. A good spot for a few night caps after a meal in town.

Recently changed owners and brilliant little bar, fresh beers and great selection of cocktails, very friendly and lovely atmosphere will be back for sure 😊
