The museum also features exhibits on local wildlife and conservation efforts.
Really interesting and very pretty frescos. Very ornate rooms with beautiful Murono glass chandeliers. Each room had a theme attached to the frescos. Interesting to see how the dukes and their families lived. The palace overlooks a beautiful square. Admission is free.

You can walk through 5 rooms in the palace to see beautiful Frescoes on the walls. Entrance cost via a donation
Terri Q — Google review
When we went, there was a modern art exhibition in the rooms which was a cool contrast to the beautiful (old) frescos on the walls and ceilings. The guy there was also super nice and told us a bit about the palazzo and a few details of the paintings. It’s a quick visit but definitely worth it!

In the heart of Martina Franca's historic center stands the magnificent Basilica di San Martino, a Baroque masterpiece dating back to the 18th century. The basilica boasts an intricate exterior facade adorned with elaborate carvings and a bas-relief of San Martino on horseback sharing his cloak with a beggar. Inside, visitors are treated to an elegant interior featuring impressive frescoes and elaborate architecture housing important artworks by local painters.
Greatly detailed inside and outside there are great restaurants outside where you can sit outside and look at the grand buildings

Big church right in front of Piazza Immacolota. Path from Piazza roma to this church, stone flooring is really good, flashy and unique. It's quite big, you can see its structure (from different angles) almost from any streets in that area.
Karthik — Google review
Such an amazing Basilica in the centre of Martina Franca. Blown away for the architecture, and the art work. If you’re ever in Martina Franca visiting this basilica is a must!
Filippo — Google review
A most impressive church. This huge building with impressive steps is neatly hidden along the thin streets and winding alleyways. We were lucky enough to witness a christening with all attending dressed perfectly on a very hot day. The front of this building is incredibly tall and sits imposingly over the small square in front. Did not get to see inside but visiting other local churches shows the extent of the impressive art and architecture in Martina Franca.

Valle d'Itria is a unique destination that offers a perfect blend of stunning landscapes and delectable cuisine. The valley is renowned for its distinctive trulli, traditional Apulian dry stone huts with conical roofs, which add to its charm. The area boasts picturesque olive groves, vineyards, and red earth that contribute to its authentic beauty.
One master chef loved the food here so much he opened the restaurant ‘Itria’ in San Francisco. If you can not get here, and are on the Coast, try it; the next best thing to being here. But reserve early, the foodies are flocking.

Porta Santo Stefano

Mentioned on
3 lists
Historical landmark
Sights & Landmarks
Porta di Santo Stefano, also known as Arco di Sant'Antonio, is the most famous gate providing access to the old town of Martina Franca. It leads from Piazza XX Settembre and offers entry to notable landmarks such as Basilica di San Martino and San Domenico church. The city's strategic hilltop location dates back to its founding in 1310, with medieval traces still visible today.
It’s very indulgent to appreciate Porta Santo Stefano. This accident monument stands out as soon as soon as you enter the piazza. With its historical factor is such important land mark, not just for Martina Franco but for Italy itself. Martina Franco is has become a real focus for tourism in the last 15 years, including Puglia. With monumental structures such as Porta Santo Stefano you can appreciate why.
Filippo — Google review
Nice historical monument and it has details of the architect who did this, all in English. Nice place to hang around in evening, to grab a cup of coffee. If you are lucky you may get to see some musical, skit performances. Martina Franca Co Italia bus stop is in front of this at walking distance.

(Translated by Google) Porta di Santo Stefano is one of the ancient gates to the old city of Martina Franca, in the province of Taranto, in Puglia. Its history is closely linked to the urban development of the city during the Baroque period and to the need to defend the town, which over the centuries has been equipped with walls and fortified entrance gates. Historical context Martina Franca was founded in the 13th century, and over time, especially between the 16th and 18th centuries, it developed as an important agricultural and cultural center. During the Baroque period, the city experienced a great artistic and architectural flourish, which is reflected in the construction of numerous palaces, churches and monuments. Porta di Santo Stefano Porta di Santo Stefano takes its name from the nearby church of Santo Stefano, which no longer exists. It was one of the four main gates that allowed access to the old city (along with Porta San Nicola, Porta San Pietro and Porta San Martino). It dates back to the period in which the city walls were built, between the 16th and 17th centuries. Architectural features • The gate is built in Baroque style, with Renaissance influences. • Above the arch was the city's civic coat of arms. • It once had a drawbridge, later removed, and served both as a control point for the entry of goods and as a defense. • Its position was strategic: it looked towards the ancient sheep track that led to Taranto. Current situation Today, the Porta di Santo Stefano is perfectly preserved and is one of the symbols of the entrance to the old city of Martina Franca. It overlooks the current Piazza XX Settembre, one of the most popular and scenic squares in the city. It represents an important point of tourist and historical interest.

Cantina I Pàstini

Wineries & Vineyards
I Pastini Srl offers a wine tasting experience at their beautiful estate with a knowledgeable guide who speaks perfect English. Visitors enjoyed the overall experience but suggested improvements such as offering better snacks and wines, particularly for white wines, and using separate glasses for different wines. The estate is praised for its eco-friendly wine production using local products, and the staff's kindness and fluency in English are highlighted. Overall, it's recommended as a great location for a wine tour.
A great way to spend an hour. A lovely, family-owned vineyard, producing good quality wines. The tour was exactly the right length / content and was very interesting! The wine tasting again delivered the perfect amount of information for each of the wines tasted. Grazie Ilaria and the rest of the team! 🥂
Anna G — Google review
This was a lovely and cute little guided tour and wine tasting. I would say it offered good value for money. It’s perfect if you just want a glimpse into the wine-making process, but nothing extensive. The tasting was also good. We tasted five different wines and got some local snacks to go with it. This is exactly what I would expect for the €15 per person we paid. It’s very modern and professionally done! It’s probably not the most unique or cosy experience, but I would still recommend it if you’re on a bit of a budget. 😊
Robin L — Google review
We were so lucky to have a private tour with just two of us. The tour was informative and you can really felt the enthusiasm, or probably also with some ambition, from the winery. After the tour, we tasted five wines, one sparkling white wine, two white wine, and two red wines. They were so delicious that we decided to take six bottles home. This wine tour is definitely worthy for wine lovers.
Chia-Kai Y — Google review
A lovely small grower, organic growing of grapes using old traditions and different local grape varieties. Grapes are hand-picked at night in small bunches to produce higher quality wine. Worth a visit to sample the locally made wines and to buy some stock for your trip
Mark M — Google review
Lovely tour of the winery today. Patrizia was a knowledgeable and engaging host. Great to try the wines! Affordable tour and bottles if you want to take any away.
Rebecca H — Google review
Great experience and a very nice location to have a wine tour. They produce their wine nature friendly and with local products only. The personnel was very kind and the tour guide spoke English very well. Can definitely recommend going there.
Bas D — Google review
Even though it’s an old family owned winery, the wine tour felt a bit impersonal. The guide was shooting with information and there wasn’t even much time for questions or photos. At the end there is tasting of five wines, which also felt a bit rushed. Still their primitivo was amazing! You can buy wines after the tour and they will ship it to you home address.
Aleksandra W — Google review
It's hard to find Apulian wines in Canada and even harder if you want to try the lesser-known grape varieties. I'm glad I came here cause I got exactly what I came for. We got to taste 5 different monovarietal wines: Verdeca, Bianco d'Alessano, Minutolo, Primitivo and Susumaniello. After reading up later, I noticed that the Italian wine god, Ian D'Agata, seems to really like this estate. I guess then its the place in Valle d'Itria to do a wine tasting. Great value for the price, too. That said, they do push the wine sales a bit too much, and the group was a bit larger than the advertised 24-person limit. The experience felt a little impersonal because of that.

Bosco delle Pianelle

Visitor center
Outdoor Activities
Bosco delle Pianelle is a serene forest reserve perfect for family-friendly hikes. The shaded trails wind through lush woodlands with unique karst formations and abundant wildlife, including rare orchids and birds. It's an ideal place to escape the crowds and enjoy a tranquil picnic while listening to the sounds of nature. The trekking paths are easy, mainly under the shadow of evergreen oak trees, making it a refreshing walk for those seeking some quiet time after days at crowded beaches.
Nice woods with various hiking paths. It's not very big, but it is one of the few natural forests (as opposed to the ones that were planned in reforestation projects) in the area.
Sara D — Google review
Nice park, well maintained paths and quite well signposted too. Enjoyable morning's walk. Would make a nice place to walk a dog or even children.
Graham B — Google review
Green oasis in Puglia, perfect place for long walks and trekking in nature. Small paths can lead you to unexpected views like this one.
Dace S — Google review
If you need some quiet place after days of crowded beaches this is the right choice. A jump in the nature for a refreshing walk through trekking paths under the shadow of woods, mainly evergreen oak. Proper shoes are needed. Paths are easy and difference in height really modest. At the starting point there is an info point for tourists and chance to rent a bike. Read carefully opening hours. There are no bars or shops but at least a fountain to fill up your bottles. There is a huge picnic areas with tables and seats and small playground area for children. Free Parking lot available at the entrance.
A S — Google review
I think this is one the best natural parks in Puglia. I'll definitely be back for some running sessions. Please, keep it clean 🌳🙂!
Giuseppe D — Google review
First time ever we went there it was enough crowded (occupied by Scout groups). Though second time around was different experience. Since there were very few people in the Bosco, we could enjoy more and listen to nature’s sound. We had a great picnic, took a nap (almost meditated and slept off) and walked into the woods. Pleasant experience and a quick get away from Taranto. Note- no pre-booking of tables, first come first take basis as the tables and benches are freely allocated around the Bosco. Decent toilet (carry the essentials though). No barbecues allowed.
Ref. 5 — Google review
Very pleasant forest with lots to discover and to enjoy. Beautiful green nature within a dry region of Puglia. Choose between the accessible ‘highway’ paths or the more adventurous sentiero’s.
Maarten C — Google review
A variety of walks following colour coded routes with a couple of points of interest on the way including an ancient cistern and charcoal making site. Never much wildlife about. Extended picnic area and play area for kids for a nice afternoon out of town.

Casale dei Pini

The beautiful farmhouse, nestled in a serene natural setting and recently renovated, offers a delightful retreat. The owners are incredibly kind and attentive to every aspect of their guests' experience. The cleanliness is impeccable, and the breakfast is truly extraordinary, showcasing local and sustainably sourced products. In addition to this remarkable morning meal, the dinner options are outstanding as well. Casale dei Pini is a highly recommended destination for those seeking a memorable countryside escape.

(Translated by Google) We came here just to ride horses. We had previously asked that we wanted to canter and trot based on our experience. That was guaranteed. We also galloped, but only for about 2 minutes over the 1 hour trip - we were also barely at a trot. The experience was quite disappointing as we actually only went into the forest for a short time, turned around a bush three times and then walked several times across the stable's meadow. To make the hour full, we were led to the lungeing area at the end, where we were allowed to try cantering. But that didn't work because the horses didn't do anything without instructions from the leader. All in all: nice horses, nice stable, but nothing to explore the area on horseback. Wasted money. Rausgeworfenes Geld.

The ground floor is delimited at the corners by columns, and on the facade there is a sundial with the latitude of the city. The first floor, delimited by pilasters, has a balcony door with a broken gable. The second floor, delimited by pilasters with capitals, is characterized by the clock whose dial is set in a stone frame. Finally, the last level is characterized by the turret with four large single-lancet windows on which stands an iron block that supports the two bells that strike the hours and quarters. The Tower, just over 10 meters high, is integrated with the adjacent University Building thanks to the stone stringcourses that divide the façade.

La Pasteria - pasta fresca e prelibatezze is a charming little pasta shop in Martina Franca that offers delicious homemade pasta and great service. The place is beautifully decorated, and the staff goes out of their way to ensure customers enjoy their meals. They have a variety of lasagnas, including tasty vegetarian options, and the prices are very reasonable.
The best food we had in all of Puglia! La Pasteria is a true gem in Martina Franca. From the moment we walked in, we were welcomed like family. The people working here are incredibly kind, warm, and passionate about what they do, and it shows in every dish. The pasta was absolutely unforgettable, fresh, flavorful, and made with love. Every bite was a perfect balance of tradition and creativity. It honestly stood out as the best meal we had during our entire stay in Puglia. Exceptional food, exceptional people, and a place that makes you feel at home. Highly recommended, don’t miss it!

The food is beyond fantastico! I had a pasta that blew my mind. The ambiance and interiors are lovely and thoughtfully curated, making for a delightful experience. There is indoor and outdoor seating and it was hard to decide because both are fabulous. I highly recommend stopping here on your journey! You won’t be disappointed. A true gem!

We just finished the most amazing meal at la pasteria! We have been all over Puglia, and this was one of our best meals yet. The service is impeccable; the food is fresh and delicious. The tiramisu is made in house and in the best we have had. This is a special place not to be missed if you are in Martina Franca. We were lucky we made a reservation (on a Thursday night) , because it quickly filled up with a line of people waiting to get in. This restaurant was recommended to us by our host, and we are so grateful to have had such a wonderful dining experience in such a beautiful part of Puglia! ❤️❤️❤️

I had the full experience ; starter, main, and dessert and honestly, everything was perfectly executed. You can tell right away that everything is homemade, no shortcuts here. The pasta? Absolutely a must-try, simply delicious. The service was super friendly, and the staff made us feel welcome from the moment we walked in. Honestly, nothing to complain about. Plus, the prices are very reasonable for the quality you get. I love it. It’s a solid 5 stars, 10 out of 10, no hesitation. Easily one of the best restaurants in town. Seriously, you have to go!

Must Try in Puglia!! Really home cooked feel. Everyone at this restaurant pours their heart into the meals. Please try this small family restaurant. You’re not going to be disappointed.
Brian P — Google review
We came here because of all the wonderful reviews and high ratings and were really excited to have some good pasta. Unfortunately, we were quite disappointed. The food was just okay, not bad, but not great either. It was something that could easily be made at home. We expected much more from this restaurant.
Ambra S — Google review
Very delicious food, we came here specifically for the home made pasta and we were not disappointed. We ordered the Timballo di gnocchetti sardi, the orecchiette alle cime di rapa and the lasagna di nonna. Everything was excellent, the pasta was clearly freshly made, the sauces had so much flavour. The atmosphere is like an elevated osteria with a tradition charm but also modern touches. We shared a tiramisù di babà for desert and I could have eaten three of those. Absolutely recommend! Since everything was so good, this is the only pictures I managed to take 😆
Sonja M — Google review
Great lunch spot! We did laundry down the street at MIA and made reservations because it looked close and good. It exceeded expectations - the food was great, staff friendly and the place was warm and cozy. Highly recommended if fresh pasta is your thing!

Al Sagittario

$$$$affordable
Restaurant
For over 8 years, Al Sagittario has been a popular choice for many on a weekly basis. The cuisine is consistently excellent, and the service is delightful. Whether you prefer dining inside or enjoying the Al Fresco experience, there are options available for everyone. A highlight of their menu is the must-try antipasti of the house. It's recommended to start with the full version once and then later try the smaller portion – one order is more than enough for two people.
Wow, excellent food and service.. Roasted potatoes, orcchiette with broccoli rabe and anchovies, gnocchi with ragu, sausage, and fegatini which is liver wrapped with intestines. Really good. Added 1/2 liter of rose €56. Thinking we need to go back a second time. Definitely meat centric
Sam N — Google review
Fantastic food, freshly prepared - excellent service. We tried two of the chef’s specials, which were outstanding, particularly, the sacchetti with spec and pumpkin cream sauce. We also tried the sliced beef with mushroom and brown sauce, which was also terrific. We shared a perfectly cooked side of tender chicory and piping hot, crispy frites. House made Tiramisu was delicious and perfect to share with our coffee. Overall a great place to stop of lunch or dinner in Martina Franca.

Everything is perfectO! In love with the veggies! But everything is delicious! The basket bread and the taralli are Amazing 😍
Alicia D — Google review
There was nothing wrong with the food, however it was not that special. It was OK. Service was not that good, though. Friendly enough, however I got my starters 15 minutes before my wife got her's. And she got the main course when she was still eating her starters. But I had to wait for more than 20 minutes after my wife already started her main course. Service was clearly not in sync.

Restaurant
Ristorante I Templari in Martina Franca is a renowned Italian eatery that offers traditional Apulian cuisine. This rustic establishment is known for its delectable housemade pasta and desserts. The restaurant provides a charming atmosphere with terrace tables for outdoor dining. The service at Ristorante I Templari is attentive and incredibly friendly, ensuring a pleasant dining experience. Notably, the food and drinks are of exceptional quality, making it one of the best restaurants in town.
We had diner here as a family of four. The outside terrace is gorgeous with a view over the valley. The service was very professional in explaining everything in Italian with so much conviction that you start to understand Italian. The food was very good and the dishes looked stunning.

Unfortunately we found I Templari only on the last evening of our holiday. Who says that Italians disdain i turisti who turn up at the restaurant door at 19:00 sensa prenotazione? We were welcomed very warmly even though they had clearly been very busy with a Mothers day function that afternoon. We had a memorable meal (antipasti and primi and a glass of house white wine which absolutely sets the bar for quality), great value, great service.

Absolutely incredible meal in Martina Franca with this restaurant. Gorgeous view, lovely owners. The food was incredible - we had some starters including frisa with stracciatella and then some of the rags orechiette and a side of vegetables. Great local Puglian wines on offer too. Would throughly recommend.
Rebecca H — Google review
My wife and I stopped here early in the evening. I think they may have been just opening up as it was only around 7p. Even so, they welcomed us in. It was a bit chilly out so we ate inside where the atmosphere was nice, elegant, and warm. Tried the ravioli with burrata and cappicola ham which was amazing. Also tried the Boconotti which was really good as well. Service was attentive, and food was fantastic. Definitely venture out a bit from the more touristy parts of town and give this one a try!

Delicious food. Local “grano arso” options. Stylish decoration. Beautiful view from the terrace. Sensible service. Prices a little on the high side (with €3 coperto per person). English language menu. Highly recommended.

Delicious food. We had pasta, salad, beef fillet, fish, roasted potatoes, French fries, and chocolate mousse and it was all amazing. The orecchiette in particular was the best pasta I've ever had. Tables outside gave us a beautiful view of the city. Service was great and friendly. Highly recommend.

READ THIS. Do not hesitate and try this place when you are in Martina Franca. This is a really special place only 4min (280m) away from the Palazzo Ducale, and the experience, venue and food ... are simply AMAZING. Both with an inner option and a beautiful terrace for the sunny days. Work as a tour leader around the world, so I've tried quite a few restaurants. We were 28 people ... So this could be the equivalent to 28 reviews in one. AWESOME food, lovely calm atmosphere and excellent service. The whole team with Maria Pia at the front, did EVERYTHING to make us happy. All in all ... A lovely experience that wrapped up our day in Martina Franca, on a really nice way. The best restaurant I've tried in this city, and I've been there a few times. Try it folks. You won't regret. Thanks a million Maria Pia ❤️ It is easy to feel, when a project is done from the heart !! Best wishes, Xavi 😊

My favorite restaurant in Puglia! We have been there twice and it never disappoints. Stefano, his family, and staff are top notch! Can't wait to visit again. If you are in the area and you don't stop by, you are really missing out

One of the best experiences we had in Puglia! The food was amazing, portions were generous, and the staff was so lovely, funny and attentive. The restaurant has a homely feel, and the food was probably one of the best we had. Do not miss the most amazing pork stew in a puff pastry!
Andjelka D — Google review
Wow, great experience, the waiter was really good, the food was delicious - pie in Puglia, what a lovely change!! My son and I both enjoyed the slow cooked pork filling. We had pork belly too and my hubby enjoyed his pesto spaghetti. Refreshingly different and cooked really well, plus a really lovely setting sprawled out among the steps in front. Highly recommend!

Another local recommendation and thank you. Really well cooked and moist pork neck (tricky) with small baby roast potatoes. Ravioli with beef (inside) and truffle butter. Simple and well executed, personable service and relaxed location. Try it, well worth a visit!

Oh man, I so wanted to like this place! I had heard excellent things online, and it looked so nice! But alas, the reality fell far short of expectations... 🙁 The owner himself was quite friendly, but our waiter was at best curt, more accurately fairly rude. Our cutlery was thrown down on the table, and the dishes arrived either in silence or with a curt 'prego'. I was particularly excited about the truffle ravioli, but it turned out to be so salty as to be inedible. I have never sent a dish back half-eaten in my life (having been brought up with the 'starving children in other countries; be grateful for what you have' narrative drilled into me), but it was unavoidable in the case. Fair enough, it happens - but the response was lacklustre: a mumbled semi-apology and no attempt to make amends in any form. To top it all off, we sat waiting for ten minutes after finishing to finally receive the bill and then our change, while watching our waiter take the time to clear and re-set the adjoining table in the meantime. And no, it wasn't due to them being overwhelmed with other customers - there was all of one other table filled at the time. All in all, alas - much more is promised than delivered. The setting is nice, the fava beans were tasty, but on the whole I was disappointed.
Daniel T — Google review
Salad and Capocollo was excellent as well as the pasta dishes. For the pasta dishes the portion size could be bigger. Although we didn't mind, but why were all pasta plates missing a piece? The only downside for us was that they are charging 2€ for a refilled water bottle (hopefully it is properly cleaned before each refill). Something like this should be for free especially if the coperto is 2€ per person
Timi S — Google review
Very good restaurant in the city center of Martina Franca. All the dishes we took were tasty and well presented. Staff was nice and polite. The outdoor location is really cute and perfect during summer nights. Prices are in the low to medium range. Recommended!

La Locanda del Macellaio

Chophouse restaurant
La Locanda del Macellaio is a unique establishment that combines a butcher shop and restaurant, offering a wide selection of meats. They offer an extensive range of meat options, including dry aged beef cuts and local delicacies such as sausages and bombetes. Must-try items include the Quattro formagi sausage and pesto filled bombetes. The red dry house wine received high praise from customers.
What a home run! Walked in at 8pm on a Sunday and the very friendly and competent hostess greeted us with excellent English (while we tried our best in Italian) and showed us their world class meat selection. We picked foal and diaphragm and several bombette and we're shown to a seat outside (perfect!). The wait staff greeted us with kindness in very good English and we ordered house wine and grilled vegetables and grilled onions. The food came quickly, was of excellent quality, and we stayed for hours. The place filled up to the max with dozens of families enjoying the fresh air by 9-10 pm. Prices were fabulous ($64 total) and atmosphere/service were top notch. Don't miss out on this one! Unforgettable experience. 10/10. Nice job to the whole crew! Pics to follow.

Certainly a restaurant that deserves your time and money!

- We booked a table for 21:30, it's already 22:00 and we still don't have a table. Terrific confusion, noone knows anything... We even ordered meat but still no table. What to say? Standing here for an hour is not how I planned to pass my last dinner in this vacation. - After an hour of waiting in a corridor we've been given a table hidden behind the fridge in a terrace.. May be the meat is good but not sure it worth all the hussle. It's already 1 and a half hours and we have not seen it yet... We however got our garnish which is probably going to be cold soon (cold fries are not eatable). - The meat arrived after 2hrs it is delicious bit we are no more hungry, so everything goes take away... The worst experience ever, never again and would not recommend.

Worst service that I have ever had in Italy. We had a reservation at 9:30pm and nobody cared. There was no organization at all and we had to wait almost 1 hour for a table with the promise that hey will give us a table way before. Then when finally had our turn to choose the meat, it took 2 hours to receive the food. This is completely inaceptable! The food was okay but is not worth it! Don’t go to this place!

Excellent prices, meat is good, service is not slow but the really friendly staff should focus more on details. It could be because it easily gets crowded. All an all, we will always come back at every chance. Thanks a lot for two wonderful dinners!

Visitors have praised the wonderful dining experience, highlighting the amazing pastas and antipastas served at the restaurant. The atmosphere of Ristorante Garibaldi, situated in front of a church on a lively street, adds to the overall appeal of the place.
Service was like in a fine dining restaurant. Yet food tasted somewhat cosy, like home made, and prices are quite affordable. Probably the best food we had while in Puglia.

We had a wonderful experience at Ristorante Garibaldi! The service was very prompt and friendly, the waiter told us what dishes would be a little different or what different pastas were available to choose from. The food was very tasty, both the lasagna and pacherri and the pasta with clams and scampi!!! We ordered a bottle of white wine and got a bottle from a local winery, super tasty! I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants to enjoy good food in Martina Franca.

Excellent lunch here, pasta tasted amazing, had good flavour, textures and also nice veggies, the whole dish was so good! Ordered the zucchini flowers and stracciatella pasta with cheese Owners were so friendly and the place had a great location and vibe 😍 They even gave extra bruschetta while we waited for food. Absolutely lovely experience!

First and most importantly is to make a reservation as it tends to be busy especially during dinner time We didn’t 😢 and we had to wait for quite some time for another table to leave Also waited 30 minutes to order (but i guess is normal italian time 😁), but after the food arrived everything was excellent The Food is GREAT!!! Very very tasty One of the best meals I had in Puglia

This is the best restaurant in the surrounding area of Martina Franca if you are looking for authentic, home-made Puglian food just as an Italian grandmother would make. We have sampled the better half of the menu in a few trips to this restaurant and I can confirm everything was absolutely delicious. Don’t hesitate driving here even if you are staying 30 minutes away by car. The owners are always present and absolutely charming, adding to an already amazing atmosphere. Location, the outdoor terrace and views from it also top-notch.

A wonderful dining experience that we can warmly recommend to anyone visiting Martina Franca!

There is nothing worse than feeling ripped off and this is exactly what happened in this restaurant. A glass of wine costs 8.5€! That’s the most expensive glass of wine I ever had…as it wasn’t indicated in the extensive wine menu (it should have been the sign), I thought it was going to be standard maximum 5€ that I have been paying in the week spent in Puglia… should I have known it I was better of taking a cocktail. I also really don’t know how a plate of pasta (18€), a bottle of water (2€), the glass of wine and the copperto (3€) ended up costing 33€!! Incredible! To avoid at any cost.
Morgane — Google review
I was surprised. Great location. Clean. Good service and wine. The food did not match the price they charged. For an average portion of daily pasta with mushrooms 28eur. For a glass of wine typical primitivo 8.5eur, appetizer 14eur... it is definitely overpriced.

Pizzeria Tomato and Basil is a popular Italian restaurant in Martina Franca, known for its out-of-this-world pizza made with genuine Pizza Napoletana. The restaurant offers a variety of delicious pizzas cooked in a wood oven, and customers can also enjoy wine by the glass or bottle. With its inviting atmosphere and delectable menu options like ratatouille and Margarita pizza, it's no wonder that visitors are eager to return to this charming pizzeria.
Amazing pizzas with interesting combination of ingredients, made in a wood oven. I particularly loved the sweet taste of the yellow pomodori tomatoes on my pizza! I also loved the local red wine they serve (see picture). The atmosphere of the restaurant is lovely: they have some tables on a terrace outside and cosy tables inside, where they play classy music. The staff was really friendly too. Our experience here was so positive we might even go back later this week.. [Edit:] We did go back - they were definitely the best pizzas we've had!

We have enjoyed Pizzeria Tomato and Bazil numerous times over the years, visiting Martina Franco. The service is absolutely incredible! With the welcoming attitude, when we booked in person and also tonight when we had dinner here. The pizzas are extraordinary! Cooked to protection each time we have visited here, since 2015! It’s such a real icon of Martina Franco, and absolutely well worth a visit.

Honestly the best pizza I've had in Puglia! Fresh ingredients, lovely dough and local cheese options. The staff were friendly and attentive, they gave complimentary bruschetta, the survice was quick without feeling rushed. Brilliant experience, would recommend to everyone

Stylish pizza place with an impressive wood oven that churns out Neapolitan pizza’s of the highest quality. These pizze are both creative and use some of the best dough I’ve tasted. We went for two bianchi white ones for a change. One with subtle and sweet yellow cherry tomatoes, and the other with wood oven grilled zucchini and mint. Highlight on both was their signature basil pesto (without garlic). Delicious and very interesting. Great fior di latte as well. They have a nice terrace. We had dinner inside and the atmosphere there is very calming and soothing. Piano music, subtle crystal table lighting which makes your pizza look even more beautiful, and a big wood oven fire burning in the background. On top of that they had one of the most amazing red wines (local, from Martina Franca) which we are now on the lookout for. Grazie mille to the very friendly people for an excellent evening.

Best pizza ever. Many delicious options and the staff is very nice and friendly
Paula A — Google review
Our favourite pizza place in Puglia. They’re always booked out so you have to call to get a table at least 2-3 days in advance. It’s worth it though. It’s just one pizza maestro at the helm (highly trained - you can see all his accreditations on the wall) who has to look after a lot of tables as well as takeaway orders. The staff are understandably run off their feet, so if you turn up without a booking don’t be surprised if they’re exasperated and stressed out, and can’t always find a table for you. Give them a break and be nice! When you are seated, they’re friendly, attentive and helpful. They even start conversation and crack a joke sometimes :) the pizza is just excellent - they’ve got some of the classics plus some unique inventions and adaptations. There’s also a really interesting drinks selection - it’s a limited list but good quality, with local craft beers, and lovely wines. Thanks again to the great staff and the pizza maestro!

Torre di Angelucco

Nestled in the charming town of Martina Franca, Ristorante Torre di Angelucco offers a delightful dining experience that beautifully showcases the culinary treasures of the Valle d'Itria. With an elegant ambiance and a menu that features refined dishes, this restaurant is perfect for both locals and visitors seeking to indulge in exquisite flavors. The chef skillfully combines traditional recipes with modern twists, ensuring each plate is not only visually appealing but also bursting with taste.
There's little to say when you stumble upon a restaurant where, by chance, you sit down and choose some dishes from the menu, and then you realize you're not in a restaurant but in the presence of a food artist. Like with artists, the dishes aren't merely good; they are emotions that, through the mouth, reach deep into our subconscious.

We literally stumbled on this gem as finding a carpark in Martina Franca is like finding a needle in a haystack and when we did I used this platform to check where we could eat nearby and this came up. Wow. We must have a guardian angel! Very rarely does everything come together as beautifully as it does here. The team are welcoming, the wine list is vast - and the recommended wine was both delicious and a bargain. As for the food… If you are in the area - don’t hesitate, just book. Angela Pagano has a light and deft touch with her ingredients that you rarely find. I could go into detail, but trust me, you will have a superb meal. Grazie!

My husband and I came here on September 12th. The restaurant is out of the touristy city centre. It’s not very big but there is also some outside seating area. The decor is tasteful and the atmosphere is generally serene. The food was very good which is why I want to recommend it as it is a little off the beaten track. We had a starter of octopus on a bed of mash with orange and lemon slices which gave a lovely fresh taste. Then we had a very good risotto. As dessert I had a lovely gooey chocolate dessert with a sort of cream. We had wine and water. The service was friendly but discrete. The bill was not extortionate for the quality of what we ate.

Beautifully made food. Great tastes. Perfectly accompanied by great wines. They really tried to put a modern twist into traditional dishes. And they succeeded. The service was attentive but not too intrusive. The atmosphere was very laid back. The kitchen staff was very well in tune. We didng hear any shooring or noises. The kitchen was a really well oiled machine. The tartare was exactly what it should be, juicy, room temperature, lemony tones, mustard. The tuna and swordfish carpaccio was soft, delicate and accompanied by marinated citrus. The octopus salad was delicately seasoned, had the right bite. The steak was moist, juicy and wrapped in delucious bacon. The local wine was wel recommended and fit the bill. A perfect dinner!

Found this gem by accident. Only one open until 3:30 , and it was on the street where we parked. The food was beautifully presented and so delicious. Think I’ll go back again tomorrow to try another dish! We were probably very lucky to get in without a reservation as it was Saturday. We don’t know what the appetizer was that we were served free of charge, but it was amazing. House wine was tasty and the fresh focaccia bread was superb. We highly recommend this lovely restaurant. Italian restaurant
Located in town, La Tavernetta is a charming underground eatery renowned for its mastery of classic Italian dishes. This includes delectable orecchiette al ragu, handcrafted semolina pasta with a traditional tomato sauce from southern Italy; fave e cicoria, a delightful blend of pureed fava beans and sauteed chicory; and braciole, thinly sliced veal stuffed with parsley, cheese, and garlic then slow-cooked in fresh tomato sauce.
This is hands down the best meal we've had this trip (and we have been here for almost 10 days)! This is a family style restaurant run by a really lovely and welcoming host, the food is simple but done very well. All our dishes from appetisers to desserts have been exceptional. The bruschetta was really nice with toasted bread and fresh tomatoes. Try the pickles together with the local cheeses, the steak with mushroom, the risotto special with Zucchini flowers and shrimps (if they have it), and any of the dessert tarts all freshly baked to order. Absolutely a hidden gem. Highly recommended! 👌👌

Fantastic meal! Highly recommend it. This place is popular amongst locals, and the portions are big and have no nonsense style of serving. The pastas are absolutely delicious. The starters are super tasty - as you can see in the photos. If you want to try real Italian authentic food and mix with other Italians, you need to go here :)

We stopped in on spec for dinner and were seated immediately. Service was attentive and very friendly. Great menu selection. Food choice excellent and we enjoyed all our choices, very, very tasty. Home made desserts were lovely too. Very reasonably priced.

Good place for a quick lunch. Highly recommend the gnocchi con pomodoro passato. The wine is also nice - primitivo di manduria. Fair prices.

La Tavernetta is a lovely restaurant in Martina Franca. My wife and I were warmly greeted as we entered for lunch! It’s been around four years since we were last here and the food is still so nice! Well worth the 87€ that we spent!

We had a wonderful dinner at La Tavernetta. This place feels like an experience you would get if you were dining with a local family. The family that runs it is wonderful and will definitely help you with the right choice you need to make for your meal with them. Some of the portions are also very large so make sure to pace yourself. This was an expansive meal covering all sorts of dishes. Our group chose to share everything which I would highly recommend so that you get a chance to try everything at this wonderful restaurant.

The moment you step in, you'll be greeted with smiles and perhaps even a complimentary drink if you're lucky! Zio Giacomo is renowned for its delicious pizzas that are crafted with care using high-quality ingredients.
We had our first Pizzas at Giacomo‘s yesterday and went their today again. Really nice people - I was recognized from yesterday and was offered a free beer. Super good ingredients and great craftmanship at this place. I wish we had Giacomo‘s at my hometown in Düsseldorf, Germany. Keep on going! Thanks for this great experience, unfortunately today was our last day in this area. :/ Cheers, Chris

[Take out review] We went specifically to take out the gluten-free pizza. We triple-checked with the server when we placed the order that they have gluten free pizza, and we were charged for a gluten-free pizza (it was also on the receipt). Despite all the verification, we were served regular pizza with gluten, which resulted in severe gluten poisoning. ⚠️ celiacs beware

Brindisi Airport

Airport
International airport
Salento Airport, also known as Brindisi Airport, is the second international airport in Puglia, Italy. It offers bus connections to the city center and other airports in Foggia, Taranto, and Bari. The airport serves various international destinations such as Zurich and Paris. It is well-designed with clean facilities and ample amenities including two lounges outside of the security checkpoint. While there are limited food options after passing through security, there are good dining choices before check-in.
A small, straightforward airport where everything works just fine. Prices are reasonable, and by Italian standards — it’s actually very well organized. Travelers from northern countries might find a few things to complain about, but that’s more about local quirks than the airport itself :)

Small and easy to access. Most arrival staff not helpful. They do not appear to like Americans. Public toilets do not have seats. Departure staff was helpful and nice.
Bryan — Google review
Airport does not have enough seats in departure lounge for number of flights. No duty free for tobacco or alcohol either. Toilets clean and tidy. Only a restaurant x 2 and shop after security. Priced expensive as you would expect. Would consider flying from here again.
Vin C — Google review
To use the public transport to the town center the Bus (1,20 Euros — tickets are available atthe cafe inside the terminal) goes ONLY every 30 minutes ! In case you take a cab / taxi to the town center or main railway station, a 8min trip, they will charge you an incredible 25 Euros ! But they might ask you to pay 30 Euros. That is a real rip off !!! Returning with the Bus to the terminal the bus route first takes you to the Ferry/Cruise Ship Sea Terminal on the other end of town.

Really easy to go through arrivals and departures. Lack of seating generally, and lacking space around the duty free and shops but departure gates 10 to 14 were empty once through the additional passport control. Staff generally helpful and very accommodating for families with children under 10.

I would like to say thank you to Francesca who was incredibly supportive to us during a time where it was looking not possible to travel but she was determined to help us and she spent a lot of time making sure that we were looked after and making it ok for us to travel. Thank you so much Francesca for giving us the time, you really saved the day in difficult circumstances

A smaller international airport in Puglia serving destinations like Zurich, Paris. The airport is very clean and well designed and has a lot of amenities. There are two airport lounges outside of the security checkpoint. There are many good food and drink options, before check in but only one after the security section. When arriving you will need an euro for a handle cart or you will be out of luck. There is ample parking and normally run 5€ for an hour. The attendants are helpful if you need any assistance. The first flight normally leaves at 6:25am to get you to the major airport in FCO and it takes an hour. My only complaint is that when arriving, I am always pulled over for a random inspection 😂

🛫 Bari Airport is overall nice – small but well expanded and easy to navigate. 💺 There’s also a lounge accessible with Priority Pass, which is perfectly fine. 🤕 What’s not fine are the low pillars and beams – you can easily hit your head, which feels quite unsafe. 🧳 Security check was quick and rather relaxed, not stressful at all. 🚆 The train to and from the airport costs €5.30 and goes directly to the city center – great connection, though it runs only once every 50 minutes. 🎟️ Tickets can be bought online or at vending machines using a card, very convenient. ✈️ Overall, a nice small airport – practical and easy, just watch your head! 😅

This is the main airport serving the city of Bari and the region of Puglia. If you are planning a tour of puglia this is the ideal airport. It’s a bit small considering the number of the tourists visiting the region, and hence can get busy. The airport has all the basic amenities for travelers. The food was a let down especially compared to the fantastic food you get outside. Airport has good connectivity via bus and train. Highly recommend the train as it’s only 5euros and takes just 10 minutes to reach the city. It’s extremely difficult to find a taxi so if you are planning to take one please plan ahead. Uber is very expensive. You are better off calling the local taxi companies who can then send a cab.

Abysmal state of the bathrooms, almost no stall has a working lock on the door, two were overflowing, no toilet seats at all. In the only one that had a working lock someone had smoked, I believe overriding the sensor with a toilet paper (see photo) . The air vent probably has never been cleaned given the thickness of dirt in it, which occupied about half of the diameter.
Roqitt — Google review
The airport is clean, the toilets are clean, a sufficient number of info displays are arranged. It has quite a sufficient number of express restaurants and shops. I wish there were more places to sit, as well as more positions for charging mobile devices.

I actually love this little airport in Bari for a few reasons. First off, the scale of the place is just refreshing. I'm used to travelling through massive international airports like LAX, BKK, and through comparably larger ones as well like the ones in Orange Country, Tiwan, and even the domestic airport in Bangkok DMK. These places are much larger than Bari and I found the ease of access in the airport very convenient. Drinks are very inexpensive here, including an amazing cappuccino for around 2.50 Euros which is nearly the price you pay in and around Bari all over so great on them for keeping the prices affordable for those travelling through the airport. The location of luggage carrousels and the parking lot and immigration are so close together I felt like I only walked a few hundred steps from my plane, through immigration and baggage claim and then to my driver's car which was incredible. Excellent experience for my wife and our young daughter to begin our trip to the Puglia region of Italy, I highly recommend this airport
