Booby Trap - Bar Restaurant

Mentioned on
+2 other lists
$$$$affordable
Pizza restaurant
Booby Trap is a versatile dining spot on Isabela Island, offering a fusion of American and Ecuadorian cuisine. The restaurant features a cozy and laid-back atmosphere, making it an ideal place to savor dishes like pizzas, fish tacos, and delectable desserts. Situated across from Casa Rosada, the open-air establishment provides picturesque ocean views that perfectly complement its exceptional coffee and charming ambiance. Additionally, the upstairs bar serves up great drinks while maintaining its original owner's legacy.
Amazing experience! The staff are super friendly and welcoming, the food is fresh, delicious, and beautifully presented, and the ambience makes it a real pleasure to enjoy a meal here. The prices are very fair for the quality, and every detail made the visit truly enjoyable.
Anastasia B — Google review
No mosquitoes! Second floor has this breeze with ocean scent. Booby trap burritos is phenomenal. Grilled chicken isn’t very good- meat is hard to chew. Menu availability is depending on what they have in store- but same case for most restaurants here.
Silvia X — Google review
Really nice place for drinks and cocktails were good. The food was average, the vegetarian pizza had green beans and carrots on it which wasn’t very nice, it would be better if the vegetarian pizza had mushrooms/sweetcorn/peppers instead. We were a big group so service was quite slow but the waitress did her best as she was the only one serving. It was our friends birthday so we had hoped for a dessert (brownie) with a candle but at 9pm they said this was not possible which was a shame
Phoebe N — Google review
I ordered a pizza from the Booby Trap. It was so delicious. We got half pepperoni and half vegetarian. Not only was the pizza good, but the service and the atmosphere were perfect. It wasn’t loud and felt intimate. We will definitely be coming back here the next time we are in Isabela.
Kimi G — Google review
I had the beef burrito and it was delicious! My fiance was also impressed with the ceviche! Best of all, it's right across the street from the Pink Iguana and they walked the food over to us so we could sit by the beach at the Pink Iguana !
Kevin — Google review
Delicious food. Great view with fire pit if cool.
Sally T — Google review
Went for cocktails - best pina collada I’ve had in forever, and the snacks & dip tasted incredible. Real attention to detail. Would have come back but only had one night in Isabela.
Peter B — Google review
PSA the BEST restaurant in isabela (go upstairs above pizza restaurant). Have never eaten a better fish burger, ceviche and tuna Tatar. Was recommended by our local tour guides, GO UPSTAIRS to the rooftop and there is a fire lit with the best service. The food looked so good we couldn’t even get a pic before trying it, so here is the only pic with the most delicious fish sandwich.

El Cafetal

Mentioned on
3 lists
Restaurant
El Cafetal is a renowned restaurant known for its diverse menu featuring rice, yuca, and vegetable dishes alongside enticing main courses. The establishment also offers vegetarian options, although it tends to be on the pricier side. Additionally, located about 3 miles west of Puerto Villamil is the Wall of Tears, a potential attraction worth visiting with some prior planning.
Chicken with Hawaiian sauce is amazing! Server was very nice. Atmosphere is great. Highly recommended. :)
Jeremy R — Google review
One of the best dinners we had on Isabela. It’s such a cute and welcoming vibe. We got a table outside and it was so peaceful and quaint. Fernando is the owner and we absolutely loved him. He was so friendly and was so attentive to us. He answered all the questions we had about the menu and even just general questions about Isabela. I ordered the filet tenderloin in organic coffee sauce and my husband ordered the Galapagos Chinese lobster. Both were excellent. I was so excited to try to steak because the coffee sauce uses coffee beans from Isabela! You get two sides with each of those entrées. We each got the vegetables and I got plantains as my second side and my husband got the yuca. The yuca was SO good, it was like thick, crispy French fries. The vegetables were fresh and in a tasty sauce, like soy sauce. The plantains were also delicious, crispy on the outside and nice and soft on the inside. The portions were perfect - not so much where I feel like I overeat and not so little where I still feel hungry afterwards. To drink, my husband got one of the beers from the local brewery, which he said was good. Another nice perk was that you get a pitcher of filtered water with your meal so you don’t have to pay for bottled water or keep asking for glasses of water. Honestly I loved everything about this place. Fernando was one of our favorite people we met here. I would highly recommend you visit it at least once while you’re in Isabela.
Holly P — Google review
The dinner was excellent in every aspect. One of the few places that allows you to pay by card with great food. Customer service was very personalized, the lobster was beyond delicious and huge. The drinks were bakery well made and couple with content attention to our needs to refills it made a great night. The union soup was very good and the attention to detail by the owner was suprising. The location of El Cafetal is withing the compound of the Pink house. A must try if your St. Isabela
Denys G — Google review
The food was tasty, and the service was friendly. The price was a bit high, but understandable given that it’s a remote island. Overall, it’s a pleasant place to visit, especially if you want to try local flavors
Mariel R — Google review
Probably our favorite meals on the islands, and the only restaurant we visited twice. Service was friendly and personal, the local craft beers were interesting, and the (sea-) food was fantastic. The resident dog was the most unique animal we saw on the islands.
Lars A — Google review
This was our favorite restaurant on Isabella when we recently visited. The seating outside is right on the beach but shaded by trees and of course full of lazy iguanas. Do yourself a favor and order the seafood toston, you will not regret it! We came for both lunch and dinner on our trip and both were great.
Amanda C — Google review
Such a lovely spot for both lunch and dinner- on the beachfront with cute lights! They do a $10 meal of the day for both dinner and lunch which includes a starter, main and dessert. There’s an option for both meat and vegetarian too. Lovely staff as well :)
Beth F — Google review
We ate 3 x here it was so good and always had fish of the day / fish steak or sautéed seafood both of which came with 2 sides. The smoothies (passion fruit in particular) were just amazingly lovely. The owners are lovely also and the service was great. Would definitely recommend eating here.

Coco Surf

$$$$affordable
Nestled in the heart of Puerto Villamil on Isabela Island, Coco Surf is a culinary gem that invites you to savor the ocean breeze while indulging in an array of delectable dishes. This vibrant restaurant specializes in fresh seafood, offering delights like ceviche and yellow-tail tuna, alongside hearty options such as risotto and vegetarian burritos. The menu showcases modern Ecuadorian cuisine crafted from scratch with locally sourced ingredients, ensuring every bite bursts with flavor.
This place is busting out modern Ecuadorian food made from scratch. They use fresh ingredients with care and the flavour combinations work very well. I ate here twice while in Puerto Villamil, for lunch I had a fish burger and dinner fish in Thai curry sauce. The fresh crispy fish in the burg was perfectly cooked and fresh tasty salads and sauce made up for the plantain as a bun which I don’t think works at all..... just because the plantain is quite hard, so when you eat as a burger with your hands, the burger filling wants to squish out the side. It is all very tasty tho. The Thai style fish is hardly Thai and still packed with flavour, just not Thai heat. Good to have a spiced coconut milk sauce with fish. I opted for rice instead of plantain chips. I tried babes mixed seafood burrito and the a soft delicate seafood is perfectly cooked and packed with flavour.

Truly enjoyed our quick lunch here with a tuna tartar (appetizers list) and a vegetarian burrito (beans, corn, mushrooms, extra thin tortilla). Highly recommend Endemica beer brewed on the neighboring San Cristobal island. Super fresh- and wonderfully presented as well!
Svetlana O — Google review
Excellent and unique food. Very nice service. A bit expensive for the average costs but worth it. Live music!

(Translated by Google) I don't know where to go, It's somehow beautifully lit up. There were a lot of tourists, so I went in anyway. If you want to drink beer, ask about local beer. After choosing one of the several types I was told and drinking... It tastes really bad! Surprise! If you look closely... It says coffee beer! ! ! There was no way it was delicious... Other meals were not very tasty either... I want you to taste the bad taste of this coffee beer...

Excellent service, really delicious food and beautiful presentation. Best meal I had in town. Their frozen fruit juices are the best on a hot day - beware the brain freeze ;)
Carolyn C — Google review
Definitely pric-ey but the flavors of the dishes were really good. They also have some local craft beers which is rare especially on this tiny island
Ronan G — Google review
It took them very long to prepare my fish and when it finally arrived it was cooked way too long rendering it totally dry and even hard. The staff at first did not know what to do and consulted the colleagues in the kitchen but within 30 seconds they took my plate and asked if I wanted the same again or something else - plus points for the reaction. I asked them for the same again but apparently that was a mistake: The second try was noticeably better but it was still sort of dry, the actual fish portion was rather small as you can see in the picture (considering the 23!!! Dollars they wanted for it) the fish was drowned in sauce, leaving no fish taste behind and finally the risotto tasted like rice pudding. All in all wasted money.
Jörn B — Google review
Super feines Essen zu angemessenen Preisen. Zählt zu den besten Restaurants die wir besucht haben auf unserer Südamerikareise. (Translated by Google) Super fine food at reasonable prices. One of the best restaurants we visited on our trip to South America.
Elias S — Google review
Really liked the vibes there. The food was very good, tasty, with good sauce. Try the local beer, it was a great surprise!
Clément A — Google review
after i read all the reviews i was excited to try it. the restaurant was packed. looked really good from outside. i got fish steak for 17.5 dollars that you could use as a small ball how overcooked it was. didn't seem fresh neither. no taste. sauce that wasn't made in house with unidentified strong taste. local beer for 5.5. i was charged $ 27. no breakout on the bill. awesome setting. the one dish i had - a joke.

Cesar's Restaurant

$$$$affordable
Seafood restaurant
Bar
Cesar's, a seafood restaurant located in Isabela, is highly regarded as a favorite dining destination. Renowned for its exceptional staff and warm hospitality, this establishment offers an impeccable culinary experience. Guests can indulge in delectable meals and beverages that consistently exceed expectations. The caipirinha cocktail stands out as a particular highlight, with many visitors enjoying multiple servings daily. With an abundance of positive reviews, Cesar's is considered the best restaurant in Ecuador thus far.
Just had a delicious meal at Cesar's Restaurant. For just $10, we had soup, main , juice, and small slice of cake. Now, this type of plate of the day meal is common in Puerto Vilamill. What is different here is that the selections are a bit different. The fish soup was very delicious and a meal in itself with big chunks of potato and fish. Our fried chicken filet was dipped in a light batter and then sat on top of the tastiest mixed vegetables. Even the glass of juice was above average. Each plate was very nicely presented and we really appreciated the extra effort on a $10 meal. We will be coming to eat here again before we leave the island.
TJE — Google review
Seriously, look no further for the absolute best food on Isabela! From their outstanding service (thank you Victor!) to the impeccable hygiene standards, everything is fantastic. A huge plus is Chef Marcelo, who is incredibly accommodating and happy to adjust his delicious dishes to suit any food restrictions you might have. Trust me on this one – you absolutely HAVE to eat here, especially their fried Bacalao! It's an absolute winner!
Santiago H — Google review
Great place for lunch. For 10$ you will get sup (or other appetizers), main dish, juice, desert. Food quality is very good. We had lunch here twice, both times we were happy with food, atmosphere and service.
Vitalii A — Google review
I have come two times so far and ate the Menu of the day for $10 Includes: a soup or salad (the soup was always very good) A main dish, juice and a little dessert. Very good, nice presentation. Very delicious, I'll come again.
Alicia F — Google review
The food here was solid. The service was attentive and some of the best we have received on the island. We got the lunch specials for $10. My one critique would be that the calamari didn't have the thin outer layer of skin removed which made it more chewy than usual.
Matthew R — Google review
This restaurant is the best one in Isabela. We went here 3 times during stay. Best dishes, best hospitality.
Yushi S — Google review
Good $10 dinner menu. The garlic bread was unique….😅 but the main meal was filling and delicious. You also get juice and a small dessert. The service was really fast and the waiter was very attentive.
Ashleigh G — Google review
Super friendly staff, I had the menu del dia for 10 dollars. The maracuya juice was really delicious, and the tuna with the vegetables and the puree was reaaaallly tasty and nothing compared to other menu del Dias!! I really recommend :)

Los Delfines Restaurant

Ecuadorian restaurant
Los Delfines Restaurant, located in Canton Isabela Ecuador near Puerto Villamil, offers a menu with 9 dishes and drinks. The evening menu is priced at $7 and includes a soup, main course, and fruit juice. The service is described as cheerful but inconsistent. Customers have praised the option of having soup in the evening after activities like snorkeling.
5 stars due to convenience. I arrived in Isabela close to 2pm on a Friday. Many restaurants are closed at the time and after asking in 5 different open places, this was the only that took credit cards. They charge a 15% CC fee which I immediately agreed to (they communicated this beforehand). I ordered the $8 "menu del día" which came with soup, entree, juice and dessert. Pros: convenience, nice, kind and attentive customer service, delicious juice and dessert. Sides were good too. Quick service too (there were only two more tables during my time). I didn't get them this time but plenty of veggies and vegan options. Others: the veggie soup is not something I would get again. The fish in herbs was not the best I've had in Ecuador but would definitely do the trick. Again, having the option to pay with a CC when 5 other merchants didn't, saved me during hungry times. (The ATM didn't have cash when I needed it the most, my fault for being extra generous with my tips for the tour on that morning and assuming I would be able to get cash for lunch later).
Ana M — Google review
My group of 3 vegans/vegetarians and 1 pescatarian ate here twice for breakfast as part of our tour package and for 1 quick lunch before heading to San Cristobal. The food was decent. You can sit inside or outside and we all loved the vegetable rice!!
Tracy M — Google review
Sad food, not sure it was fresh, not much taste.
Tal A — Google review
Staff were friendly, however the food was pretty average. We orderd the lunch set menu and a burger. The lunch set menu's soup tasted like packet soup with a tonne of salt added. The calamari consisted of tinned lentils, rice and a few rings of calamari. The burgers patty was cooked till it was burnt though. Would recommend for cheap easy somewhat edible food.
Glen R — Google review
This was by far the best Ecuadorian meal adapted for vegans I had in the Galapagos: a clear soup with veggies and oats, salad, a veggie rice pilaf, a spectacular menestra and patacones. Everything was delectable, and I appreciated the rice wasn’t just plain boring white rice!
Nayla Y — Google review
It’s okay. We wanted something different that rice and fish, something like pizza and someone from the Island recommended this place. The pizza was nice, but the pineapple was delicious, super sweet and gave it a nice taste. It was not so cheap as other places you could find on the island.
Kristel N — Google review
We was looking for a place to have a breakfast and some good expresso. They had only continental breakfast at this time for 6$ which include eggs, two toast and a cafe. They have a cafe machine but I don't like it ! A bit disappointing knowing there is a good cafe farm on the island close by.
Guillaume C — Google review
The pasta was terrible, tiny and not fresh. Pizza with hair inside and nobody care

Ecuadorian restaurant
El Velero Restaurant, located in Puerto Villamil near Puerto Villamil Ecuador, offers a diverse menu with 7 options for food and drinks. Visitors have praised the well-cooked and presented dishes such as shrimp skewers and octopus ceviche. The efficient and warm service adds to the pleasant experience of dining in this picturesque place adorned with colorful lamps. The prices are considered fair by patrons who also appreciate the delicious flavors offered at great value.
Got breakfast here one day and it was so good and the price was excellent. We ordered one continental breakfast for $5 and one Galapagueno for $7. Both came with juice and instant coffee. We did not wait long for the order and the atmosphere was cool too, outside on the patio. They are closed on Sunday , so plan accordingly
Diana A — Google review
With a bit of a sore tummy a simple pasta dish hit the spot. Full lobster for my partner went down well. The price and size was shown before cooking. Service was quick and the server attentive. Outdoor seating which is common. No fans or bug spray to keep the bugs away.

Gracias Madre Galápagos

Mentioned on
1 list
Mexican restaurant
Gracias Madre Galápagos is a delightful culinary gem that beautifully marries authentic Mexican and Ecuadorian flavors. With a menu brimming with classic dishes like tacos and burritos, this eatery emphasizes local and organic ingredients, ensuring every bite bursts with freshness. The vibrant Tex-Mex ambiance adds to the experience, making it an inviting spot for both locals and travelers alike.
recently had the pleasure of dining at Gracias Madre, and I have to say that Natalia, the bartender, truly made the experience unforgettable. Not only does she craft the best margaritas I’ve ever had—perfectly balanced, fresh, and full of flavor—but her service is absolutely exceptional. Natalia goes above and beyond to make every guest feel welcome. Her warm personality, attention to detail, and genuine enthusiasm create an inviting and enjoyable atmosphere. She’s not just a bartender; she’s a true artist who takes pride in her craft and ensures every drink is perfection. If you visit Gracias Madre, do yourself a favor and sit at the bar. Natalia’s margaritas are worth the trip alone, and her exceptional service will have you coming back time and time again. Gracias Madre is lucky to have her, and so are its guests. Highly recommend!
Turisvivenda T — Google review
Craving Mexican food on your Galapagos vacation?? Then look no further than Gracias Madre! The portion sizes were generous not only for the entrees but for the margaritas as well. The margaritas were freshly made and tasted delicious. The food was also great, especially the beef burrito and the shrimp appetizer!
Kevin — Google review
The food here is so delicious! It’s the best chicken quesadilla I have ever had at a restaurant. My friend had the pulled pork burrito and also said it was the best she’s ever had. Highly recommend!
Jaimie P — Google review
My husband said that this was some of the best Mexican food that he’s ever had. That’s high praise given his Hispanic heritage. Having tried most of the menu, we can confidently say that it’s all amazing. My personal recommendation is to get the quesadilla la sabrosilla with pulled pork and to try the Madre Mía margarita. We loved the food and drinks so much that we ate here three separate times during our short stay on Isabela. Give it a try yourself and know that you won’t be disappointed!
Kaylee — Google review
Lovely decor, and good atmosphere. Food was mostly great-- the nachos were not the best. The tacos and tres leches were delicious. The horchata was some of the best we've had anywhere.
Sarah-Marie A — Google review
Had a great experience in Gracias Madre, tried a couple of Mexican food and it was delicious, no complaints, we asked for Sabrosilla Quedadillas and chilango chicken burrito, and for dessert the amazing tres leches. Drinks were good too. The place was full and yet the lady serving us did an amazing job taking care of us and bringing our food on time despite her being almost everywhere. She even had time to explain to us about all the different plates and how they prepare it right then and there, and telling us more about the island. Kudos to the amazing Hannah and the workers for an excellent work and hospitality. Truly recommend Gracias Madre and their services.
King D — Google review
Nice, colorful, friendly, just stopped for lunch hier , I think her name was Diana , she was very friendly to us , helped us with translation and explanation of the dishes.
Jordan V — Google review
I ate dinner here more than once during my stay and ordered something different every time. The food was flavorful, always served hot, and the portions were generous. The staff were very hospitable and kind. I have nothing but great things to say about Gracias Madre and would gladly eat there again if I were staying longer.

Encanto De La Pepa Restaurant

Ecuadorian restaurant
Encanto De La Pepa is a delightful local eatery known for its delectable Ecuadorian cuisine and warm hospitality. This charming establishment, owned by the talented Pepa, excels in serving up mouthwatering seafood dishes and traditional Ecuadorian fare.
The best place to have some delicious fresh food. Very very good service.
Maria C — Google review
Good value. For a $10 menu of the day on this island, you can’t expect too much but it did the job. The meat portion was pretty small, but with the soup & fruit juice, I didn’t feel hungry after. The dessert was a piece of fruit so don’t get too excited there! Service was great and fast. I can confirm I received the soup (despite other reviews).
Cindy G — Google review
Typical plates of the day menu for a reasonable price $10-12. Good selection on the regular menu. We ordered the Spaghetti Bolonaise and the BBQ chicken wings. The wings themselves tasted a bit reheated, but the sauce was awesome. Nice change from the usual fare. Service was great, and there was a nice view of the street and town square.
TJE — Google review
Waiter Jordan was the star of the restaurant. Good is below par to average. Luckily we ordered grilled crayfish which was not on menu. That helped save the day. Crayfish was perfectly grilled, fresh and tasty. Grilled squid was a full disappointment and seafood arroz was the same.
Varn V — Google review
Dont go there, its a tourist scam. For 10 Dollar we didnt get the soup, the main course was so little and cold (waited 45minutes, had hair inside the dish..). Desert is just a small piece of watermelon. Go more inside the town, you will find really nice menus for 6 Dollar!
Chr I — Google review
We ordered 4 menu del dia, we left 2,5 hours later! There was only one group of 8 people before us, the rest of the restaurant was empty. Besides that the portions are very small.
Bart H — Google review
It is a sub-par restaurant with sub-par food. I wouldn’t expect speed or flavour here (but the hot sauce they have on the table is nice and saved the day)
Adi R — Google review
The worst food i ordered for a long time. Chicken in lemon sauce. It was a very small, thin piece of chicken, with a strange sauce. And dry rice and cold (!!) broccoli, beans etc. And like 10-15 small fries. Btw for 13 dollars!! It was absolutely the opposite of delicious. We regreted so much to go there. Even the water had no Etikett. After eating there i didnt feel well, too. Das Essen wollte wieder raus sozusagen.

LIGHTHOUSE RESTO BAR ISABELA

Restaurant
Nestled in the heart of Isabela, Lighthouse Resto Bar is a delightful spot for travelers seeking a cozy dining experience. Known for its inviting atmosphere, this eatery offers a variety of delicious options, including an $8 lunch combo featuring fish, chicken, or beef alongside soup and plantains. Pizza night is particularly popular here; their medium cheese pizza is perfect for sharing and reasonably priced at $20. The menu also caters to vegetarians with fresh vegetable dishes that are not overly salty.
Excellent food and very friendly service.
René V — Google review
We enjoyed our pizza night on Isabela at El Faro (the Lighthouse). $20 for a medium cheese pizza, and it is a good size for two people. Other vegetarian options on the menu. They will serve glasses of filtered water for free if you ask for it, saving you from using a plastic bottle. They have a pool table and ping pong table free for guests. Friendly staff.
Renee — Google review
Cozy atmosphere and really kind staff. Nice to play some pool and have food afterwards. Also great to see vegetables are an option and the food is not too salty.
Leon C — Google review
Went to the restaurant on a school trip and we had this restaurant as our designated lunch and dinner spot. 11/15 people got food poising and even had massive diarrhea or chronic vomiting. People were very nice and the food tasted fine…but didn’t make up for the trauma that happened afterwards.
Cam B — Google review
The worst pizza I have ever had. I couldn't finish it. Couldn't finish a pizza. That just shouldn't happen.

This food just not that good. The service was island slow, but friendly.

Isabela grill

Restaurant
Isabela Grill is a charming establishment that offers a wide variety of seafood and meat dishes. Situated in the heart of town, this steak house stands out for its unique and flavorful sauces. Though it may be slightly pricier than other restaurants nearby, the quality of the food makes it well worth the cost. The octopus here is exceptional - simple, tender, and perfectly cooked with delightful marinade. The grilled seafood and meats are also particularly outstanding.
Off season on Isabella so no people eating in restaurants. I had a good feeling after the owner/chef came out to help me w the menu. I ordered the traditional Ecuadorian plate w fresh grilled swordfish, plantains, salad and rice and beans w a juice. Everything was delicious. The fish cooked to perfection and flavorful. The chimichurri and hot sauce were also very good.
Brenda L — Google review
I had the meal of the day which was extremely reasonable ($6) and so tasty. I've come here for dinner three days in a row and the juice and soup change so the meal feels varied but every option has been delicious . The tuna was fresh and cooked on the BBQ - would highly recommend!
Emily M — Google review
We ordered the $6 set menu with soup salad platacones grilled meat juice and dessert. It’s of great value, everything was delicious! The portion was fine too except for chicken it is a bit smaller. It’s not easy to get good fresh vegetables in the dish for this price on these islands. The grilled patacones were the best too! Juice was of bigger side and less watery compared to the other $5 restaurants we tried on Santa Cruz. The service was good too, I’d definitely recommend this place for low budget travelers.
Jess H — Google review
Very good food and nice atmosphere! We ate here twice during our stay and it was great every time. They have some nice and special vegetarian options with vegetables from the island. Also the fish dishes were fantastic. There are daily menus for $6 or $9 with a main course, soup, juice and dessert. The cook Fernanda is lovely, she likes to talk about the options you can choose, but we also had a very nice small talk with her. She sings while she cooks, sympathetic from the first minute :)
Anna L — Google review
The dishes was fine, not so big and the meat was slightly over cooked but at the end it was tasty.

Good food. Clean bathroom. Rare for Almuerzo lunch set to come with a little Postre (dessert) as well. Great value. Also, usually the lunch set would have preset Main, but here you can choose your main protein (fish or chicken or others) as shown in the picture. Another plus! Alert for location on Google Map being inaccurate (probably they moved?) so it should be around the corner of the perpendicular street. Easy to find anyway.

Excellent spot for vegetarians or vegans. They have a full menu of non-meat options. Food was made fresh and delicious.

Galápagos Ecological Airport

Airport
We were very impressed with the Galapagos airport. It's won awards for its environmentally-friendly policies. The airport features wind turbines and uses recycled materials for its furniture and building construction. The airport features native cacti plantings with iguanas sunning nearby. Because it's a small airport, you walk onto the tarmac to board the plane. There's a traveller's lounge and a few choices for a meal if you are waiting awhile.

As expected, it is a very small airport. Your plane stops at the tarmac and you get down the steps and walk over to the airport building itself. You go through three different checks at the airport. One is the passport check. Another is your $20 fee check and the third is a check where you go through a check with your luggage again to make sure that you don't have any organic material you brought from the mainland. There are buses available outside to take you to your next stop for a fee.

Small airport. Disappointing that for an airport that welcomes tourists they don't take credit cards to pay the $200 Galapagos entrance fee. It is $5 to take a bus to get to the ferry (10-minute ride) and then it is $1 to cross the canal by boat. To go to the city, public bus is $5 and taxi is $25. (All currency mentioned is in USD)

Puerto Ayora, sharing for solo traveller: 1. Restaurant Nazca is recommended 2. 1385 coffee: ok for sweet stuff but not main course 3. Isla grill: above avg foods and place 4. Book the day trip by asking 3 agency before make a decision, make sure to keep the receipts n ask the boat look like + name n whims do you meet in the pier. 5. Darwin Station: average, only ur here then u need to visit it.. see my review on google maps for tips 6. Must visit - Tortuga Bay: walking distance from the fish market about 45 min to beach that non swimmable then walk another 15-20 mins along the beach to the calm beach for kayak or swimming. See pics on my on google map how to get there. 7. Must try Bahia/ bay tour: price range 30-40 in person 8. Must try Los Tuneless with conditions starting point from Isabella Island 9. Floreana Tour: not recommended.. not worth it.. From airport regardless group or solo, you will take a bus $5 and boat $1 to the channel where transportation waiting Having incident with Galápagos Aquatour agency next to Burger , booked Bahia Tour and they do not put my name in the list - not sure if this is one time off or bad practices of this agency. In Santa Cruz from the pier you can take water taxi $1 to Las Grietas (mandatory guide $10) or beach

It would be great if they had food options at the airport since the bus schedule is until 9:30 and if one travels 13:30 you expect to eat something. There is a lot of talk about not feeding the animals, however there is no one who controls that and that mini restaurant you can see what they feed the birds

Easy and great experience at this small ecological airport. Lines were long but they moved fast. They have focus on ecological sustainability. Restrooms clean. Bag were scanned after the immigration no issues all was easy and quick. Beautiful views as the airport is right next to the ocean! Take a bus to go the ferry area ($5 bus and $25 taxi) per person. Ferry ride is $1. Both about 10 mins ride. But tickets at the ticket window outside the airport (see photo)

You never really know what to expect until you land at a place like Baltra airport or otherwise known as Galápagos Ecologic Airport. From the sky you feel like you are about to land on a barren postage stamp. Mind you, there are many airports I have been to in my decades of travelling that look just like that. Apart from being glad to reach my end destination (having travelled for over a day from Australia), I was really impressed by how clean and efficient the airport was. No tip-tapping your foot on the floor waiting for bags to emerge. No aggressive customs officials barking orders. Just smiles and a welcoming feeling. Yes, it feels pretty rural and parochial, but what wouldn't be in god's haven so remote and far away from dry land and 1st world cities. There was no question that you must tow the rope with litter and ecological sustainability. Don't even think about taking a souvenir grain of sand from the island back home! But i really liked that approach. This was ecotourism promoted as it should be. I was happy to pay my island fee, because I was already seeing where those dollars (USD ones that is) were going to. Australia should take a leaf out of the Galapagos tourism book, especially with the charges they adopt for places like the Kimberley. On the back end of customs, we met our cruise reps and guide and even this process was a seamless transition to the outside of the airport. Bags were ushered to the kerb and then it was off for the short drive south to the 'Muelle de la Batra', the ferry pier. Great airport. Very warm and welcoming.

Had a great experience here! Love the environmental focus on everything. The airport replaced an old facility in which 80% of materials were recycled. The airport touts being fully carbon neutral including sustainable power, recycled water, no air conditioning, etc. Everything was smooth in my arrival into the area. The ride to Puerto Ayora was a bit of a journey (2 separate buses and a water taxi), but all in all can't complain.
