Esther Short Park and Playground

Park
Shopping
Esther Short Park and Playground is a vibrant gem nestled in the heart of historic downtown Vancouver. Recently reopened in 2023, this park combines modern design with inclusivity, featuring unique play structures like the Zero-Entry Merry Go All and Roxall See Saw from the Harpers Playground series. It serves as a lively community hub where families can enjoy various activities year-round, including concerts and events that celebrate Vancouver's rich heritage.
Great park with a playground if you have kids. Fun events throughout the summer down here. The trees are nice for shade on those hot days. Very clean. Bathrooms. Fountain area as well for the summer time.
Evan D — Google review
Great place to spend the time with kids. I visited it on weekend and it was a decent crowd especially at kids playground. Lots of greenery and shade. Super fun place
Artem M — Google review
Beautiful little community park and children’s playground with nice tables and benches. The grass or lawn was nicely managed and clean. Dogs on leashes, babies in strollers. Would definitely come again with my kids, would bring a blanket or sheet, for sitting… sometimes the grass can be a little damp. Overall, nice people, nice views and well kept park!
Tak O — Google review
The park is not very big but there is a playground in it and also a lot of seatings. You can find a couple of toilets right by the playgrounds. And also there is a very big tower clock here. Very fancy and classic. There are some coffee and chops on the north side of the playground where you can buy stuff and have a drink. The park location is very close to downtown Vancouver so you can literally walk there with your family and children so they can have some fun after touring the downtown.
Nan L — Google review
This 5-acre park is the oldest public square in the state of Washington, and is located right in the heart of downtown Vancouver. You can pretty much walk anywhere downtown from here. The Vancouver waterfront is just a short walk away (just cross the street) along with Fort Vancouver, Pearson Air Field and Museum, the Discovery Loop, the Vancouver Land Bridge, restaurants and shopping galore; the entertainment is endless. I found the most interesting part about this park to be the clock tower, but you will also find the Slocum House, a beautiful gazebo, picnic shelter/stage, a Victorian rose garden (I will come back in Spring to see this in bloom, because I know it will be just stunning), a well maintained playground, seasonal water features, and a walking path around the park which includes several pieces of art among mature trees here as well, as you will see from my photos/videos. It is lined with benches, so you can sit and people watch, which is always fun to do when downtown in any big city. Also, many different events are held here, such as the Farmers Market (mid-March through October) and a variety of summer festivals. I definitely recommend checking this park out. With so much to do, seeing it is smack dab in the middle of everything, you can't go wrong.
Cynthia S — Google review
I love the park it's unfortunate the area is going downhill. I was there with my two year old and we decided to take a break and have some snacks. Sitting on the bench by the climbing structure halfway through eating I noticed a bag with drug residue on the bench next to my son. I discarded it once I noticed it, just make sure you watch your kids extremely well because you don't know what they could pick up. Its a great park otherwise.
Jacquelyne N — Google review
I had planned to take my two young children to this park while we stayed at the nearby Hilton. We got there a little later in the day than expected, a little before sunset and I didn’t exactly get a “safe for tourists with kids” vibe from the various groups of people in the park which was pretty disappointing.
Austin N — Google review
Beautiful park. Serene but also bustling with people all around. There are people sitting, visiting with each other and kids playing. Visitors staying at the Hilton across the street enjoying the park as well. Plenty of shade if you want to feel the breeze and sun if you wanna feel the rays. On weekends in the summer, you can attend the farmers market, purchase all sorts of goodies and then enjoy lunch at the park.

Vancouver Lake Regional Park

Park
Nature & Parks
Bodies of Water
Vancouver Lake Regional Park is a hidden gem just a short drive from the bustling city of Vancouver. This regional park boasts a stunning sandy beach along the lakefront, perfect for sunbathing or enjoying a picnic with family and friends at one of the many BBQ grills and picnic tables scattered throughout. For those looking to stay active, there are volleyball courts available for some friendly competition.
This place is beautiful. There was only a few people in the area. I walked the North trail to the bridge. Nature fills all the senses.
Kevin N — Google review
Love this park but honestly on the weekend there is always so many people here. However if you keep walking the trail and you take little turns and go on a mini side quest, somehow you will end up at a bridge over a little river/stream. It is so so green and if you go a little behind the bridge, you can find a little train that leads down to the body of water. Definitely a longer walk and took an hour to get to the spot but it was so worth it.
Ava — Google review
Great lake for a fishing or paddle boarding outing - the size allows you to get fully lost in nature with little to no signs of city. It's been worth it for us to drive across the river to access this beauty. Facilities are good, restrooms and the like. It's a few dollars at the kiosk to park in the main lot.
J B — Google review
Lovely park with water features—swimming area for early season (April, May and June until algae bloom), picnic area and trails. We do triathlon training here and hold organized runs. Dog friendly!!
Yashica P — Google review
The Vancouver Lake is a beautiful spot in the Port of Vancouver area. This lake is compromised of the Columbia River near the southwest shoreline and of Burnt Bridge Creek on the eastern shoreline. Each season definitely holds its own beauty, so if you get a chance, check it out all four seasons for sure. I highly recommend the summer and fall months. The weather is nice, and the trees are just gorgeous and popping with color! Frenchman's Bar hiking trails are also within the same area. You can go hiking and play volleyball on the beach before going for a dip in the lake. There are picnic tables, picnic shelters, BBQ grills, benches, and other seating throughout, restrooms, 2 sand volleyball areas, and plentiful parking. There are also large, well maintained grassy fields throughout. I saw a small play area for the little ones, too. 👍🏼
Cynthia S — Google review
This place is very beautiful! Many paths to wander about. A lovely lake, and across it views of the mountains. $3 for a car day pass or $30 for a year of parks parking.... fyi. Today I stumbled upon a rowboat competition. That was quite fun to watch.
Stephanie C — Google review
It is 3 dollars a car to enter. You cannot have dogs here unfortunately between April and October. It’s a good place to hang out on the beach or get out in the water. The water is a bit green and murky so I wouldn’t really swim a lot in it. If you are kayaking or SUPing, there are a few places where your paddle might snag some algae or it gets shallow towards the edge of the lake sooner than you would think. Great place to bring your binoculars to see some herons, egrets, and pelicans hunting for fish!
William H — Google review
This park offers a serene escape just outside the city. The picturesque lake, surrounded by lush greenery, provides a perfect setting for a relaxing day outdoors. The park features well-maintained trails, ideal for a leisurely stroll or a bike ride. The expansive picnic areas make it a great spot for a family outing or a peaceful afternoon with friends. The park's natural beauty, combined with its amenities, creates a wonderful destination for those seeking a tranquil retreat near Vancouver. Highly recommended for nature enthusiasts and anyone looking to unwind in a scenic environment.

Vancouver Land Bridge

Park
Sights & Landmarks
Bridges
The Vancouver Land Bridge is a remarkable 40-foot-wide pedestrian pathway that seamlessly connects the Columbia River Waterfront to the historic Fort Vancouver National Historic Site. This unique bridge, part of the Confluence Project, offers visitors an engaging experience with its two overlooks and interpretive panels that highlight native history and plant life. As you stroll along this easy-to-navigate route, you'll find yourself immersed in a blend of past and present—where echoes of early post-colonial America meet modern industry beneath your feet.
This was my first time walking across the Vancouver Land Bridge. I found it to be quite interesting, to say the least! The Vancouver Land Bridge connects the Columbia River Waterfront to the Fort Vancouver National Historic Site. The native history along the bridge is not only beautiful, but it is also fascinating. It is part of the Confluence Project. I wish I had taken more photos/videos, but there is next time. I will be more prepared to do so, especially knowing what I do now. Do come check out this rich piece of art and history! The architecture and design of this bridge are just stunning, making it a must-see!
Cynthia S — Google review
Great walk, lots of information on native trees and plants. You actually walk across I5. Worth visiting
Elizabeth M — Google review
Very Historical, unique, beautiful, interesting and inspiring Bridge. You can see freeway, train trails, small airplanes and a lot of cars. People love to walk and jog this Bridge. So many rest places. You can sit and rest. Even rainy day if you wear the rain jacket you can walk and jog. Sunshine day is perfect for me. I feel like meditation myself.
Morai B — Google review
Where nature, history, and place are the medium, this art you can walk through will fill up your senses. The sounds of city life, highways and trains, juxtaposed with native plant life and gentle curves mixed with historic stories of a long-lost city before colonization, field and fort, and modern city industry provide much to reflect on. In short, take this walk.
Amberlynn L — Google review
This is a great place for a short walk and a chance to wander around a few historic places. The climb over the freeway is a slow and steady grade so it should be good for a variety of people.
Kevan O — Google review
Last winter we walked from the Fort side across, turned around just before the end. Plants were leafless, you could see quite a bit of the area. Late August, we walked from the river side up and over. It was very hot, little shade, and hard to see much. It's a lovely walk, but would prolly be more fun on a scooter or bike.
Barbara B — Google review
The bridge as well as the whole walking path leading up to said bridge is quite beautiful. There is a lot you can see from the bridge such as trains, the freeway, and a huge plane runway !!
Eats ! — Google review
Connecting Historic Fort Vancouver to the Vancouver Waterfront Trail, this pedestrian only throughway appears to unite several distinct moments in time. Early post-colonial America on the one side, modern industry travelling under it, and budding Pacific Northwest commerce on the other side. The elevation is gradual and the walk is easy, with historical tidbits peppered along the way.

Pearson Air Museum

Mentioned on
1 list
Museum
Specialty Museums
The Pearson Air Museum, located in a historic 1937 art-deco terminal building, showcases the rich aviation history of the Northwest and its impact on Vancouver's development. The museum features World War I-era planes, including a replica of the Wright Brothers 1910 Model B airplane. Situated within the Fort Vancouver National Historic Site, visitors can also witness planes taking off and landing at Pearson Air Field.
If you are visiting Fort Vancouver, the whole site is worth visiting, including the visitor center and Pearson Air Museum. The air museum is quite small, but has some lovely planes and a great deal of information on historical escapades. I would definitely recommend walking (or driving) over here from Fort Vancouver. Walking over, you also get a good view of Pearson airfield.
Andy S — Google review
My kids did the junior ranger program, and this museum was a perfect size: small. I thought it was informative and had some interesting planes. It also was free.
Brent M — Google review
September 2025 - After walking the grounds of the fort, we finally made our way to the air museum, and found that it was worth the visit. It is not a large museum like the Evergreen Aviation & Space Museum on OR-18, but it does have some unique and antique biplanes. Plan on 30 minutes. No fee to enter.
Bill M — Google review
I can't believe we have the same vancouver. It is an awesome, modern, free museum of early flight with several biplanes and a terrific film. I thought I would only watch the beginning of the film, imagining that it would begin to lose my interest as it approached modern times, but it was nothing like that, and I heartily recommend spending 45 plus minutes watching the whole thing. I also suggest reading the plaque on the monument to the Soviet polar flight and the signboards about the namesake of this field outside. I loved it here and I plan to return to spend more time studying the planes inside and watching planes take off and land outside.
Michael W — Google review
Being an aviation enthusiast, I loved my visit here! It is truly cool to discover all the many aviation events that have occurred here over the years. The museum may be small, but it is packed with a wealth of historical information and interesting aircraft! It is located in the Pearson Air Field, so part of the Fort Vancouver National Historic Site, which means after visiting the museum, you can walk outside and watch planes coming and going (and how I love to do this!), as well as visit all that Fort Vancouver has to offer...which is alot. I haven't been here in the summer months yet, but from what I can see from photos/videos taken by fellow Google reviewers, they open up the hangers so you can check out all the wonders of aviation that are within them. I'm excited to come back, and I was just here yesterday! It is free to visit this museum, which is awesome, considering the wealth of knowledge/early aviation planes on display, and the pristine condition it is in. Call me bias when it comes to anything aviation, because let's face it, I have the upmost respect for pilots. Early aviation in particular, is full of pilots that were truly brave, especially after seeing some of the aircraft they flew! I have nothing but respect for pilots period, past and present. When you see some of the performances put on during the airshows; if you are not in awe, you might want to check your pulse, lol. I highly recommend this museum! 👍🏼✈️🤙🏼
Cynthia S — Google review
I was stationed at Fort Vancouver for 2.5 years as a Army Reserve's Supply Clerk and until today I never visited the Pearson Air Museum. It was very quiet, beautiful, clean, and the model planes and old military tents were really cool to checkout and learn about. So much history and such a stunningly beautiful area to visit!
Christopher W — Google review
Really nice location, friendly staff working and to help make the museum experience fun and interactive. It is also free so no cost. It’s a small museum so it took my five year old on a few minutes to go through but they thoroughly enjoyed the space and coloring. The volunteer veteran was so freaking nice and got my kiddo a badge to wear and take home. That was super nice and inclusive of them.
Sonia D — Google review
They have a corner of the lobby dedicated to children: books, airplane toys, puzzles, crayons. My two year old grandson loved it! He didn't want to leave. The tour is self- guided. It's free, part of the national museums, though worth donating to.

Salmon Creek Regional Park/Klineline Pond

Park
Nature & Parks
Salmon Creek Regional Park/Klineline Pond is a fantastic neighborhood oasis that offers a variety of outdoor activities for everyone. With its inviting pond perfect for swimming, splash pad, and well-equipped playgrounds, it’s an ideal spot for family fun. The park features picnic tables and BBQ pits—though it's wise to arrive early to secure one! Accessible restrooms and lifeguards on duty from 11 AM to 7 PM ensure a safe experience.
Had a great time walking around the pond and exploring. Highly recommend. Has fields, easy hikes, playground, restrooms, picnic tables.
Rachel C — Google review
I couldn't find the trail at first, and I was surprised you have to pay to park here. Next time, I'll park further away to avoid the fee. The "trail" is more like a bike trail, similar to the springwater corridor in Portland. The park itself is quite nice and well maintained. It was crowded when I went, on a sunday evening.
Aubrey F — Google review
We love coming here to ride bikes. My children attended a birthday party. There are great trees for hanging pinatas and the covered areas were perfect for the party. They can be reserved, or fcfs basis. In the summer we like to play in the small water park. Some people swim here, I wont let my children as the water quality is questionable.
Tiffany H — Google review
I've been coming here since the late 80's before they added trails and a sports park, and before it was nearly destroyed by floods in 1996. It's changed a lot. It's a good place to walk the trails, or walk your dog, or take a bike ride. Come in the evening if you really want to get some peace and quiet. You can get some amazing sunsets here, and you can see lots of birds like red wing blackbirds, killdeer, mourning doves, rabbits, and ducks. The trails are really nice. There's more walking and trails than you think for a smallish place. There's a very nice park for picnics as well. The pond is good for mostly fishing during Spring and Summer when they stock it. You can swim here, but the water can be gross at times from the birds and fish. They also have the Spring Fishing Derby here in April which is amazing for kids. Yes, they charge you for parking here in the peak months. Overall a nice place to come kick back, swim, fish, picnic, bike, walk your dog, or watch some ball games in the Spring.
Nick B — Google review
I'm sure it's a great place but sadly I couldn't go in because I had my dog with me. Do not believe the comments, dogs are not allowed here. People seem to ignore that though.
Sarah S — Google review
Low key practice disc golf baskets are my favorite thing, but theres a splash pad and playing ground i haven't even checked out. The creek is pretty neat for chucking pepples or casting a reel into.
Alvin N — Google review
The trail is well maintained and busy. The river and pond are pretty. There are activity fields for a variety of sports. There is an eagle family by the river that are neat to watch. There are restrooms, plenty of parking, and most of the park is accessible. My only issue is lack of shade on the trail, but otherwise, it's a beautiful walk.
Squiffy B — Google review
It’s beautiful and peaceful. There’s walking trails, fishing, and swimming. The park fee is $3. There’s also free life jackets to borrow.

Fort Vancouver National Historic Site

Mentioned on
1 list
Historical place
Sights & Landmarks
Fort Vancouver National Historic Site, situated along the Columbia River, is a captivating destination for history enthusiasts. This former fur trading post and military installation offers self-guided tours and immersive 19th-century blacksmith demonstrations. The site's reconstructed fort and historical reenactments provide profound insights into the Hudson's Bay Company's influence on the Pacific Northwest. Visitors can explore meticulously reconstructed buildings like the Chief Factor's House and Counting House, gaining a vivid glimpse into colonial times.
Lovely national historical site right across the river from Portland and off the Columbia River. There’s a self guided tour where you can walk in the old buildings of the fort. Next door is an air museum and there is a house where Ulysses Grant lived.
D K — Google review
We have been to many forts like this mainly in the Midwest, and Fort Vancouver was very nice and showcased some of the history of the area. The gardens out front were lovely as well. It does have an admission cost but you can use your America the Beautiful pass to get in for free. They also have a Junior ranger program separate from the air museum.
Brent M — Google review
Although the fort itself is recreated, Fort Vancouver is a site that's rooted in history and well worth visiting! The main visitors centre has a video introduction and a small display on the history of the site as well as NPS stamps, maps and a gift shop (there's a great selection of second-hand books here!). The fort is also on the site of a historic airfield which has a free museum too so I'd really recommend popping in there too! You can walk or drive down to the fort- it is a chargeable site and you can buy a pass online or in person. Inside, there's a variety of buildings from the main house to the kitchen and hospital. Most of the buildings had a re-enactor inside explaining about everything from the fur trade to life as a Hudson Bay company clerk- they were all very friendly and answered any questions. There have been a lot of archaeological digs on the site so what's there is based on what has been found. Most of the buildings are open and it was fascinating to find great little facts in each one!
Natalie D — Google review
Awesome place to visit! It wasn't too busy and the day we went they had a gun demo. The demo in the kitchen was fantastic and it smelled amazing. The setups of the old stores, blacksmith, and homes were very well done.
Nicole H — Google review
I really enjoy this place it's beautiful and there is a nice bike trail.
RUSTYMOP71 — Google review
This place is pretty amazing! They have volunteers who sort of reenact the old days. A man makes tables using period appropriate tools. In another building is a blacksmith who is working in a forge making fixtures for homes.
Katrina V — Google review
Went here with my troop on our way to Camp Baldwin. Pretty cool buildings, nice tour guide and interesting historical significance. I enjoyed learning about the fur trade and trapping, as well as identifying the many animal furs. Also bought a nice hat for summer camp which I got compliments on!
Fiona W — Google review
Awesome fort! The area is amazing to sit and have a nice picnic. The staff at fort Vancouver were extremely nice. Can't wait to bring my family down.

Waterfront Renaissance Trail

Hiking Trails
The Waterfront Renaissance Trail is a delightful 5-mile pathway that meanders alongside the Columbia River, offering stunning views and a vibrant atmosphere. Perfect for both pedestrians and cyclists, this trail connects Marine Park to new developments near the Interstate Bridge. As you stroll or bike along its wide concrete path, you'll encounter charming shops and eateries that enhance your experience. The scenery is breathtaking year-round, with highlights like Mount Hood visible on clear days from various points along the route.
Discovered this trail by the Strava suggestions as I am new here. Lovely trail which for most parts runs along the Columbia River. If you are lucky you can spot ships crossing beneath the bridge. Some parts of the trail is near the road well shaded. Near the harbour loading area you cannot go near the river. It’s along the road then joins the Maritime Park. The trail is 4.5 miles and there is ample free parking. If you want to extend the run then take the road across the Marriott then join the newly developed Vancouver waterfront which is another beautiful place.
Sameer S — Google review
Great waterfront path with access to the river beach...this is a rocky beach with plenty of room for a blanket if you want to enjoy the scenery. The actual paved path has areas that could use some maintenance and litter cleanup but it was still an enjoyable family Walk.
Gwen F — Google review
Beautiful park with 5 miles of walking trails. Lots of shade, picnic benches & a playground for the kiddos. Very well maintained park. I love that it's right by the water too..the walkway is big enough for bikes also. Definitely recommend this beautiful park.
Christina K — Google review
Nice trail that goes along the river and has access to a few small, and beaches along the Columbia River. There are great views of the river and the bridge. There are also restaurants at either end of the trail. It's beautiful in the spring and summer. It can be pretty chilly but still nice in the winter.
William C — Google review
The Vancouver Waterfront sure has blossomed! So much to see and do!
Jefferson H — Google review
Any trail, park, or historic site along the Columbia River, in my opinion, is absolutely stunning year-round! There is seriously no bad time to go. The Waterfront Renaissance Trail is off the north bank of the Columbia River and is truly picturesque! It is a 5 mile one way paved trail, so it is excellent for walking, jogging, biking, and so much more! You can vere off the main trail, like I always do, and hike along the sandy beaches of the river, which are lined with driftwood and colorful river rocks. As you walk this trail, you will come across several restaurants and shopping areas, too, because it is close proximity to downtown Vancouver. In fact, some of the most fascinating eateries in Vancouver can be found here. The options are endless. Ducks and geese can be seen in abundance, as you will be able to see from my photos/videos. Planes fly overhead consistently; getting ready to land at Portland International Airport, so they will be flying both low and slow. There is also a train track across the street from the Renaissance Trail, so if you have young children, they will just love this! And the sunsets... The sunsets here are seriously a photographers dream! The sun setting over the river is a sight to behold! It's actually my favorite spot to watch the sun set. If that were not enough to peak your interests, on a clear day, you will get the most magnificent views of Mt. Hood! I consider this area a slice of heaven, so I highly recommend checking it out for yourself. It is not crowded, so if you are in need of some serenity, you will find it here. There are benches throughout the trail that allow you to soak in the scenery. There truly is something for all ages. I would give more than 5 stars if I could.
Cynthia S — Google review
There is a fixer upper boat near the beach. A fun little walk area not too far from Downtown Vancouver. Seems safe and has a local McMenamins if you're looking to eat while out there. Don't forget your sunscreen.
K.A — Google review
Enjoy a beautiful walk along the Columbia River on this wide concrete path. You can see all sorts of water fowl including a huge Osprey nest, and occasionally you'll find a pack of seals baking and enjoying the water. While out you'll encounter runners, walkers, people walking dogs and people dining in restaurants overlooking the river. This trail is perfect for everyone, as it's mostly flat and completely paved.

City of Vancouver Water Resources Education Center

Education center
Museums
The City of Vancouver Water Resources Education Center is a fantastic destination for families seeking an engaging and educational experience. This interactive center offers a variety of hands-on science exhibits that focus on water systems and nature, making it an ideal spot for children to learn while having fun. Many parents have fond memories of visiting this space during their childhood, and they often return with their own kids, who range in age from toddlers to pre-teens.
Front desk rep was very welcoming and helpful, plenty of stuff for the kids to see and do. My daughter really enjoyed the educational scavenger hunt. Well worth the stop.
Joshua C — Google review
I literally asked my son if we he wanted to go to a trampoline gym or the Water Resource Center. He picked the Water Resource Center! He loves it there! What really makes the difference is the friendly staff. They are SO kind to kids (even rambunctious 3 year olds). One of the staff (Jacob) was cleaning the coho salmon tank and he got all the kids involved AND answered all their questions at the same time. This place and it's staff is a gem in our community.
Kimberlee S — Google review
my son's daycare was closed so I wanted to get him out of the house. I called up another Mom friend to see if she wanted to visit the center with me. we met at The water resource center at 9:30 thinking it opened at 9 per The website. they don't open till 10. staff let us in early because it was Cold and windy. I remember coming to this place as a kid and it being huge. as an adult I feel like it's smaller than I remember. either way it's a great Free place in Vancouver for kids to have fun and learn about water. it's like a mini Free omsi.
Jessica J — Google review
My family loves the water resource center. We've been coming here since my oldest (11) was a year. My children ranging from 2-11 all find something to enjoy there. I really love it because we can spend a couple hours there without it ever being super crowded, most days when we go we are the only people there. The staff at the front are always friendly and welcoming. The one thing I do miss is the infant/toddler play structure and play space they used to have years ago. It used to be my most favorite place to take my oldest when he was little.
Beth P — Google review
My 3 year and I visited on a Wednesday morning, and we were the only ones there for a couple of hours! Lots of fun interactive exhibits that are more geared toward older kids (maybe elementary/middle school age?), but my daughter was still entertained, and we had some good conversations about how we can take care of the earth. There were a few exhibits that weren’t in working order, but otherwise the facility was very nice!
McKenna O — Google review
Great resource for my 4 kids and my parents to go to. Lots of interactive activities and the people there were really friendly! Beautiful views right outside also!
Becky J — Google review
The OMSI exhibit was excellent. Loved the bird viewing and feeding station. Picnic area at rear, fountain out front. Park nearby. Lots of parking. Loved the toads. Younger kids might be easily bored, but older ones should like, especially if their adults act interested. Was hard to know what was on loan and what belonged, but we will return.
Barbara B — Google review
An excellent resource. The native music/dance was educationally/emotionally moving. To see multiple tribes/native veteran's honored was an experience to remember. The skill and craftsmanship of the items for rememberence was abundent. I await the next cellabration.

Frenchman's Bar Regional Park is a stunning destination along the Columbia River, perfect for outdoor enthusiasts and families alike. With its extensive network of trails, including paved paths and gravel options, visitors can enjoy leisurely hikes while soaking in the natural beauty. The park boasts eight sand volleyball courts, two picnic shelters, and two playgrounds that make it an ideal spot for gatherings or a fun day out with kids.
Such a great spot to set up your own grill & chill! $3 entry fee, usually packed on the weekends but plenty of parking during weekdays. Great long winding paved path along the river line for strolling, roller skating, jogging, cycling, etc. A favorite for families and dog parents!

I rather enjoyed my experience at this park/nature trail. There is something for everyone here. The staff are friendly and helpful. The paths are spacious, in good repair, and kept free of debris by competent park personnel. There are climbing structures, picnic tables, event areas, a beach volleyball/badminton/net sports area, scenic viewpoint, and nature galore along the mighty Columbia River. The trails are accessible and accommodating. As the pathways are primarily in open areas, there is not a lot of shade, so be sure to put on extra sunscreen, maybe wear a hat, and stay hydrated

The park is lively and the volleyball courts in particular are great, but there's a retaining wall with no stairs between the parking lot and the courts. I had to watch my daughter play in a tournament from the grass and she was on a court closet to the river so it was less than ideal. They really need to add stairs or a ramp. No wheelchairs or walker users or those who are mobility challenged are able to get on the courts.

This place is amazing! Small fee to get in but plenty of beach to share. Great place to swim and enjoy watching the ships pass. Only downfall is the bathrooms are limited and quite the walk if you can't park close to them.

Wonderfully close to the Vancouver downtown area. Long stretch of a beach, with sand. Sand is a little rocky and not as smooth/fine as other sand beaches. Some pieces of broken glass were found, there is a no glass rule. So, please abide by this rule and keep everyones feet safe from cuts. A small parking fee to enter ($2/motorcycle, $3/car, $6/ car with trailer). They do have an option for purchasing an annual pass. Play ground, beach volley ball courts, and covered picnic areas are available. Wonderful place to watch the sunset go down, since it faces West. Which is what we did!

This park is on the Columbia River and is a great one. There are bathroom facilities with outdoor showers and a playground for kids. There is also a running trail that is paved and beach on the Columbia. There are also over six sand volleyball courts. If you have a family with younger children it’s best to come in the earlier hours of the day because in the afternoon the teenagers and older crowd start showing up and don’t use the best of language. Also if you’re coming out here to enjoy the sunshine and warmer water it’s best if you come mid June to first of September. For the most part it is pretty clean and the current isn’t too strong. Please note that about 12 feet from the shore there is a nice drop where the water gets deeper.
Colten T — Google review
Clean, pretty, not too crowded. Perfect temps in the water for swimming, but currents, boat traffic, and random depths with steep drop off make this not a site for poor swimmers. Definitely need lifejackets and a strong swimmer to help if you have kids.

Wintler Community Park

Park
Sights & Landmarks
Nestled along the banks of the Columbia River, Wintler Community Park is a picturesque 12.5-acre oasis that beckons nature lovers and adventure seekers alike. With its sandy beach access, this park is perfect for sunbathing or taking a refreshing dip on warm days. The paved walking trail connects to Marine Park, making it ideal for leisurely strolls while soaking in stunning views of Mount Hood and the Glenn Jackson Bridge in the distance.
Nice park along the river. Has a large and sandy beach, picnic tables, and restrooms that open during the warmer months. The Waterfront Trail begins here and you can walk or ride it four miles to downtown. Summertime can be a zoo with lots of people swimming and partying. Fall and winter is a great time to go if you want quiet and solitude broken only by the planes taking off and the occasional train.

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT. I am writing this in my car since I am upset. Parking fees will be enforced starting May 1st and go through September 30th. I love this park. I come here often to walk along the river and decompress after a long day at work. As of tomorrow May 1st there will be enforced parking of a $6 a day flat-rate option through the Parking Kitty App. This used to be free. I doubt the regulars who walk or jog here will pay that just to do their nightly decompressing session any longer. It would be worth it if you plan to spend a day here. And there are plenty of things to do to occupy yourself here in my opinion. But I will now be forced to find a new place to walk or jog nightly since this place and the waterfront now charge for parking. I feel bad for those that don’t have the funds to enjoy a little nature or the ability to download an app for parking their car (like the elderly, those without a smart-phone, or those that aren’t tech savvy). I will miss you Wintler Park unless you start to charge an hourly rate option, I will have to say goodbye for now. 😞 (would have rated 5 stars, but I removed one based on parking principle). I understand why fees are important to maintain parks such as these, but please consider offering a hourly option!

Love this park. My dog can run around on the beach with her long leash and then we walk the paved path along the river. It's beautiful. And especially nice when the weather is damp and you don't feel like getting your shoes dirty. There are always nice people as well. You can literally walk forever and get lots of exercise. It's fun to watch the planes, jets and helicopters as well. The train is annoying but my dog likes it so...

A beautiful beach, decent parking, and a good trail to walk on. We saw restrooms but didnt use them so I'm not sure how decent they are but still a very pretty spot to visit and maybe dip your feet in the water.
Valerie K — Google review
I've been going there for years. The park has been upgraded substantially over that time. The addition of Parking Kitty has made visiting the park much more efficient. I was just there (September 2025) and the fee is $6 per car. However. calling it a park is an over statement. I think there are only 2 picnic tables. This is a beach on the Columbia River on a very steep slope. It is very difficult to walk uphill in the hot sand carrying your belongings when you're leaving so if you have any ankle, knee, hip or back problems I recommend not going all the way down to the river. There are bathrooms that are open seasonally at the end of the small parking lot. The whole lot is rather small holding about 50-60? cars. This is NOT a place to swim. There's a sudden drop off that leaves you directly in the rivers current and open to the under tow. This is fine for wading, making sandcastles, splashing and picking up clams and shells but watch your children closely. There's very little shade so if your going early or during weekdays you're more likely to get a good spot. Otherwise, it's great for tanning if you're into that but I recommend bringing lots of sunscreen, water and a little pop up sun tent so the kids can get into the shade at least. Fun for watching the planes from the PDX airport, barges, boats and personal skiing watercraft. If you go prepared you'll have a really nice day.
Wendy K — Google review
The last of the sunny warm days before the rainy season. Had the beach virtually to myself. Next time I'll bring a rake.... lots of charcoal from campfires..... the beach is right across from PDX so if noise is a problem for you, don't go.. If not, enjoy the view of Mt Hood and watch the planes fly in and out . This is a great beach for children, the water depth to about 15 ft out is fairly shallow after that it drops off. Life jackets for little ones or those that don't swim recommended. Lots of beach area to spread out in. The parking lot is big and the path DOWN to the beach is a hill and sandy . Enjoy!
Barbara B — Google review
My family loves this beach! My sons love swimming near the ducks that have been there the couple of times we’ve gone so far. I’m not sure if that’s their usual spot or we’ve just gotten lucky that they’re there. It’s nice to see the seagulls too. Of course it gets packed on a hot day/evening, so you might have to park a little further away from the parking lot, but it’s still only a short walk away. You can see airplanes coming and going from time to time, so that’s fun for little kids that like to see that. We will definitely keep visiting this beach!
Veena V — Google review
It was a nice, small, and peaceful Park. The way in was challenging with lots of steep roads. The river views were amazing and beautiful. The walking trail is short FYI. I went on a cloudy and windy day so there were not many people there. Would love to visit it again

Beaches Restaurant & Bar is a vibrant eatery that offers stunning river views through its large glass walls, allowing diners to enjoy the spectacular scenery from any seat. Guests can also opt for a table on the patio for uninterrupted views of the water. The restaurant serves American cuisine and drinks, with patrons praising the Prosciutto & Fig Pizza, Salmon Sandwich, and Tacos as highly recommended choices.
What a beautiful establishment and equally the people that work here. Our server Meghan Is a sweetheart and very attentive to our every need. She made our visit very enjoyable and a big reason to come back if only it would be before the end of December! We ordered the crab dip as an appetizer That was absolutely full of crab and artichokes, So delicious. For my meal I ordered the salmon that came on a bed of quickly fried broccoli, cauliflower and brussel sprouts. Best salmon I've ever had! My wife ordered the house salad and added chicken. She said she would absolutely order this salad again And it was plentiful. For dessert we ordered the key lime pie and so glad that we did. One thing that was noticeable from the get-go was how attentive the staff was and not just Meghan but all the staff. You could tell they really enjoy where they work. The Manager and the owner both made it to our table to welcome us and to thank us for choosing their establishment to celebrate our 14-year wedding anniversary. It was absolutely special that they would take the time out of their busy day to stop by our table And congratulate us. The meals were unbelievably delicious and when they brought them to the table it looked like it was out of a magazine. You can tell here that the staff take great pride and their work and it shows as a plates that they serve. Definitely get a piece of key lime pie if you're here you won't regret it. Thanks to all of the beaches staff for making our anniversary that much more pleasurable. Thank you all for making us feel so welcomed.

The atmosphere and service was excellent. Friendly staff seem to enjoy their job and there was a nice mix of seating options both indoor with a view and outdoor. Our server Devon was wonderful, just the right amount of attentive, excellent service. The food was good, they have a large menu with options to please every kind of eater. Taking off a star because the $40 dungeness crab pasta had 1 descent bite size piece and the rest were tiny, barely there shreds. Good sauce and well cooked pasta but the price for a couple tablespoons of crab is excessive and it didn't even come with a slice of sourdough or side salad. The clam chowder was good, but again very skimpy on the clams and it didn't come with a slice of bread. The elote side is a must try! The coconut shrimp was delicious and perfectly cooked but the side of veggies had very little flavor and were over cooked. We ordered the sourdough bread with fig butter which was delicious and worth the price, but when you are paying $30+ per person it should probably be included. 4 adults with appetizers, entrees, a couple of drinks and dessert was over a $200 tab. We did have a NY steak as an entree, it was cooked as ordered, very tender but the crust was lacking and it should have come with two sides for the price.

We flew in from Utah and this was literally our first stop! My husband did his research on where to eat and this place was rated so highly he couldn't pass it up. From start to finish we were mesmerized not only by the beautiful location, the decor and atmosphere but the staff were also amazing. Everyone was very friendly and came up and talked to us. We both had a few drinks, the crab dip appetizer as well as the salmon soup and for our entrees my husband got the salmon and I got the house salad and added chicken. The food was over the top amazing and definitely cravable. We talked to the owner and the manager, and are very sad to say that the restaurant will be closing the end of December so if you're in the area of please go see me and taste this beautiful spot for yourself! We fly out on Monday but plan on stopping before we head to the airport!

The Cod fish and chips were good. They're good size and not a lot of breading. My husband had the Korean pork salad (I guess) . Don't remember the exact name. He said it was okay. We had this pork strips that were spicy for appetizer. I think it's a little too sweet for me. The restaurant has the right view of the river, which is very nice. We're coming back again and will try the other dishes.

Everything was great except the menus they have online is NOT the menus they have in the restaurant & the prices are alot higher. They need to update their menus on here. The clam chowder is the absolute best I've ever had! Normally I wouldn't pay $10 for only a cup of chowder but this was worth it!!!

I am gutted that I have just found out about this place last week. Since then Ive been twice, both times being unforgettable! Ali is the sweetest and treats you like family! The food is just as good as the atmosphere and service. Hana, our waitress, was beyond sweet, and Earl has a great personality. Take note, as soon as you walk in you are treated with such kindness. We had diverse entrees that we enjoyed! I really liked the crunch of the Sprouts and Flowers and spicy sauce! The menu has lots of fun option to try! After the lunch we walked along the riverside which was so beautiful on a rainy day! We will definitely return.

Hudson's Bar and Grill, located inside the Heathman Lodge in Vancouver, Washington, offers a rustic yet refined dining experience with a focus on Northwest farm-to-table cuisine. The restaurant is known for its great food and service, featuring regional fare and seasonal specials. Guests can enjoy well-made cocktails and quick seating even during busy hours. The breakfast menu receives high praise for dishes like biscuits and gravy, French toast, and perfectly cooked potatoes.
Easter Sunday at Hudson’s Bar & Grill was truly a feast to remember. The buffet was nothing short of spectacular—an abundant spread with everything from perfectly cooked prime rib and ham to fresh seafood, vibrant salads, and decadent desserts. Every bite was delicious, thoughtfully prepared, and beautifully presented. The service was warm, attentive, and made us feel genuinely welcome. We’ll definitely be back—😋

We went for brunch. The service was excellent but the food was shockingly low effort and lacked flavor or taste. I initially ordered the lox bagel and was served a plate of assorted, barely prepared ingredients. The bagel looked especially unfortunate. I sent it back and had the avocado toast instead. It was very dry - literally just plain (slightly underripe) avocado on toasted bread. No sauce, mixture, seasoning, etc. The plate was too small for the food and the cup of fruit was low quality as well. My husband ordered the special which was salmon, potatoes, and eggs. It was absolutely swimming in butter and he ended up eating very little, it was just too gross. All in all, very disappointed in the food. Not upscale in the slightest, especially for $20/plate.

This is a great place to have dinner and drink. The food is great and service was awesome and the atmosphere was good. They took the concept of hospitality and developed it to personal touch. The food was great. The meatloaf was very flavorful and the Hummus was amazing. The drinks were top notch with the old fashion tasted amazing.

My husband and I decided to visit Hudson’s for dinner before our concert on 10/1/25. We were told upon checking in to our hotel room at Heathman’s Lodge that they had Happy Hour from 4-6 and the dining room opened at 5 for dinner, so it sounded perfect. About 4:40pm we went and got seats at the bar while we waited for the dining room to open. Our bartender was great, quickly got us drinks and asked if we wanted to order food. We planned to wait and order food once we got an actual table. What we weren’t informed of was that the happy hour food menu was only for the bar. Okay, not the biggest deal. We order our food, my husband ordered their meatloaf dinner and I decided on a Caesar salad with chicken added. The waitress asks my husband what salad option he wants with his dinner, completely making it sound like it was included with his dinner. When we got the bill we find out the salad was $14!! We also watched the table next to us whose order got taken after ours and had 4 people (they ordered two of the same meals we did) get their food delivered first while we waited almost another 15 minutes for ours. While overall our experience wasn’t terrible and everyone was really kind, we did feel mislead about how the Happy Hour actually worked and not being informed the salad for my husband was an additional cost to his meal, not included, just felt scammy.

Cannot wait to come enjoy Hudson's Bar and Grill again. The food is wonderful, the service is always amazing and the atmosphere is do inviting. So, I will share a little story about Hudson's Bar and Grill. See your restaurant was where I had a blind date over 18 years ago that lasted 7 hours. We had a beautiful perfect dinner then sat in front of the fireplace on a couch positioned perfectly. We took a walk around the parking lot where my now husband said" give me a kiss" then was so nervous he hugged me instead and patted my back 3 times. I was a divorced mother of 6 children who left a domestic violence situation, Mark had left a 16 year unhappy marriage as well and had one beautiful teenage daughter. Since our date that we talk about often, as do our 7 amazing children and 15 grandchildren. We're older adults late 58 and 61 and often reminisce of our 7 hour date, the blown kiss and how much we loved our first date at the Hudson's Bar and Grill. Thank you for being a part of our amazing story. Mark and Lori Roper

Great place to chill and enjoy a good meal. I don't generally expect much from a restaurant attached to a hotel, but this is one of my favorite places go. The beef tip saute, rustic bread are my go-to appetizers, and the steak, halibut, and salmon are all fantastic. Staff is friendly and they have seasonal dining on the "patio" out front. They have sports on a few TVs at the bar, but the volume on the TVs are low so it is not distracting if you didn't come to watch the game.

Decent food. Good service. Reasonable prices. Always busy. ●●●UPDATE June 2025.....Outdoor patio music provided by the tight Waterfront Band and happy hour vibes were great at Hudsons. The food was decent with the calamari as a highlight. Crabcakes were still too bready and expensive for what they were. UPDATE April 2022...Still very busy for dinner. Service was still a high point .. professional , prompt and friendly , even more exceptional considering how busy they were this evening--thank you LQ!! I ordered the crab cakes appetizer , the sea bass and the lamb chops. Presentation was nice. The crab cakes were ok, not great. Definitely too bready and not enough crab , especially considering that we live in the PNW. The sea bass was very good...mild and flavorful. The lamb chops were also just ok too--a bit chewy and not quite warm enough. Not bad just not great. The vibe and buzz at Hudson s is good and definitely a plus. All in all ...come for the vibes and the service . Again, I thought most of the food could have been kicked up a notch or two.

All four of us loved our meal. As soon as our server was able to get to our table, we had constant attention throughout our meal. A professional server for sure. And she had help from co-workers when we needed something. We patronize Hudson’s because it provides a fine dining experience.

McMenamins on the Columbia

McMenamins on the Columbia offers a unique experience away from the hustle and bustle of inner Portland. Situated in a suburban setting, this venue provides the familiar McMenamins dining and drinking experience with a quieter ambiance. Despite slightly less attentive staff compared to flagship properties, the expansive patio and stunning panoramic views of the Columbia River compensate for any service hiccups.
We visit here at least once a month for a date lunch or dinner. Love the service, and food. My only kick back on our last visit was the cream of mushroom soup. We got some to go for a light dinner later that evening...I wish we would have asked for a lil sample taste. It was entirely way too sweet for our taste buds. It should be served with fresh loaves of sourdough or French bread with an option of real butter. Not just simple saltines. My opinion. Otherwise, we will always return here. Thanks for the great work peeps ..

We came here day after Thanksgiving and got their specials which was grilled salmon and the stew pot with sausage over polenta. The portions were huge and we do believe it was tasty, however that day everything was heavily salted. We started with the very excellent truffle fries which were very salty but that's what we loved about it but we're surprised that heavy-handed salt was in our main dishes as well. The view is great and the service was exceptional and yes I would give it another chance as the saltiness could have been just a one-off that day.

We had a great experience. Got to get a basket of tots/ fries from our passport stamps and also ordered a mystic burger with salad to share plus root beers for post triathlon training (means we were hungry), and on a very hot day. We ended up eating only half our fries and tots—the serving is big enough to share. We ordered our favorite sauces and dips—step aside Mystic, Ranch and Terminator Mustard… my new fav dip is garlic and truffle aioli. Server was amazing—anticipated our needs and kept clear expectations about food time line—it was busy but we got a table outdoors under the umbrellas and food came out in perfect timing and we’ll-presented. A perfect post workout meal!!

Food was served cold. Consolidated cheese, cold tots, fires, and luke warm clam chowder....cold toasted mini buns. Lol. At some point the did touch the fire. Well before they got delivered to the table. Extra long wait for food to come out. Asked for clam chowder as an appetizer and it came out luke warm with well done burgers. Messy soup bowl with dried soup on the side from the sitting. Beware of the expired sirachi!!!!!!! Expired in February!!!

Three of us went for lunch on a Saturday at about 1 pm. We had an appetizer of Cajun Tots which were a lot of tots! They could have been seasoned a bit more but they were good. Mains were the JR Deluxe burger approx. $20, Blue Cheese Burger approx. $20 (not sure if that's what it's called) & Lunchbox special: Toasted Albacore Tuna 1/2 sandwich w/ clam chowder & salad $12. The food was good and the service was outstanding! There was a bit of a wait for the food but not bad for a busy Saturday Lunch. I really can't wait till it gets warmer and sit outside overlooking the Columbia River! Nice atmosphere although I really felt like the tables & booths were really crammed together. Made it hard for people to walk around including servers. With the addition of 2 beers & 1 coffee total bill was approx. $93.

Always Consistent!! I stopped in Joes last fall while in the Portland/Vancouver area for business. I have been to this location several times and I have always had a great dining experience. This visit was no different. I was greeted warmly by the hostess and sat in the bar area immediately. It was a Monday, but nonetheless, it was quite busy and it was only 5:30 pm. I noticed a few new items on the menu and some new beers. I chose the Mac and Jacks African Amber, the Seafood Stuffed Mushrooms, and the CrabDaddy Feast. The beer was Ice cold and a perfect match for my Stuffed Mushrooms, The mushroom dish was adequately filled with crab, lobster, and shrimp, it was served hot with the cheese still bubbling!! It also came with some crispy and butter-drenched Garlic Toast. The bucket was awesome as usual, three types of crab and the bucket was filled, I was over full with crab by the time I finished. I had no room for desert. My only pet peeve with this visit is that they ran out of Child sizes for the T-shirts that I wanted to pick up. I will be back!!!

I went with my family and I found it a good place to eat occasionally, the food was not bad but it was not what I expected, the attention was fast and good, maybe because there were not many people, the prices I think are fair, for what they serve, Very nice place, clean bathrooms, and I recommend French fries; Maybe we'll come back. Bon Appetite!!

I liked it. I admittedly didn't love it. The view of the river is breath taking. The prices aren't bad for crab. The service was friendly but a little slow for a couple things but still very good. As for the food, the Tuesday shrimp bucket was a very good price: $22 for 2lbs. However it was slightly on the rubbery side, but I think lots of people might like it that way because they don't know better. We got the crab with the "old bay seasoning" I think it was called. We liked that it wasn't super greasy/ buttery but it was very salty and we didn't like that. Maybe the "simply steamed" is less salty for those of you trying to watch your salt intake. All in all, we liked it and might come again one day.

La Bottega Cafe Deli Wine Shop is a charming eatery that has been serving up delectable Italian sandwiches, pastas, and entrees for over 16 years. The cozy and classy ambiance of the place gives off European dining vibes, making it a favorite spot among locals. The menu features a variety of antipasti, fresh salads, and classic Italian dishes prepared from scratch.
Food was AWESOME! Make sure to try the Gorgonzola Cheesecake. Great way to start the meal. Lamb was cooked perfectly and was melt in your mouth tender. The lasagna was subtle but special. And the Apple Rhubarb Crisp was to die for. But the best part of the evening was the service. We were celebrating our 20th anniversary. Every person we encountered, even the busboy, wished us a Happy Anniversary. And I cannot say enough great things about our server, Tara! She made great suggestions on things to try, did a phenomenal job of pacing our meal and overall just made dinner a special event. If you are looking for a great Italian dinner spot, make sure you put La Bottega at the top of your list!

La Bottega has been in our sights for over the last few years. It took a while but we finally made it in on our 18th anniversary. As we approached this restaurant we loved its classic downtown Vancouver feel. The front door feels as though you are entering an old church. As you enter the restaurant, it gives off the old world Tuscany vibe, with familiar earth tones and smooth ease. We were greeted warmly and seated immediately. It was fairly low key when we arrived but picked up surprisingly for a Monday evening. Our Server was amazing. She answered every question with great information and patience. All and all it was a good experience. The major takeaway for us was that the food was over salted which is the reason for my four star vs five. And also a note of contention, if you are looking to replicate a truly Italian feel, have a choice of a house red or white offered in a carafe style serving. This would go a long way with people who truly understand authentic style Italian dining. Good spot. We will try again some day.

We went here to celebrate a special occasion because I like their food and were super excited that they now take reservations. They asked on the phone if we were celebrating anything special, I said yes our 1 year anniversary. When we were there having dinner they didn’t mention it at all. I was a bit puzzled. Why bother to ask in the first place 🤷‍♀️ that was kind of strange. I’m only giving it a 3 star because of the noise level, there were a few vocal kids, which isn’t the restaurants fault. I’m not sure that they are quite to the status of taking reservations, maybe going back to just walk in is better suited for this establishment.

Quaint little restaurant with great food. Arrived into town in the evening and was searching for a nice place to eat solo. Came across La Bottega in my Yelp search and decided to give it a try. The food and service did not disappoint. My server was very attentive and consistently checked up on me to make sure I was doing okay. I ordered their Cavatappi dish (which I was told was seasonal) and I can hands down say probably one of the best pasta dishes I've had in ages. Got a couple orders of bread (because carbs are life) and a Caesar salad with a glass of wine. Everything was delicious and perfectly executed. When I left at the end of the night my belly was definitely happy. Will be coming back when I am in town again.

Wow wow, wow—how has La Bottega escaped me until now? Well, for certain we will be back! Soup of the day, perfect. Penne alla vodka, delicious. Sandwiches and chips, fantastic. The spirits options are plentiful and excellent selections. A must try is the bruschetta and antipasto platter if you like deli options. It is clear that everything which is served is prepared with great care and with the diners in mind. Fresh ingredients are used, serving sizes accommodate people’s preferences and are served in portions as they should be. In my opinion, nothing was overdone, the richness and complement of the flavors was balanced beautifully. Such an awesome dining experience! The deli counter inside is delightful and with the Italian music playing subtly and soothingly in the background, you can enjoy the full experience of your outing to this restaurant. There is a wine room in the back of the deli also. You can tell the employees enjoy where they work as service was amazing! The decor, the atmosphere, the food, the whole experience was so enjoyable! If on a budget, you can find enjoyable options which will well satisfy you. Be sure to sit on the patio weather permitting—you will feel as if you are transported to a city or town in Europe, it completes the whole experience! More photos to come on my next visit here…

Everything is delicious here! My favorites are the Gorgonzola cheesecake (it’s a savory cheese cake) served with bread. The sandwiches are our favorite Saturday lunch. It’s a must visit for anyone in the area!
Rosie H — Google review
Very cute place and great service. Highly recommend the Gorgonzola cheesecake, as this was the best thing we had here. We also tried the chicken & bacon sandwich which was amazing. Unfortunately, the Bolognese Bianco pasta we had was not good at all. Flavor wasn’t there at all. I would return for a sandwich and wine, but the pasta was lack luster.

Was in town on a trip and needed a good Italian restaurant. This place hit the spot! To start, the service was exceptional. Very attentive and informative. Guided us through a sampling of dishes. The Gorgonzola cheesecake was a great starter and the Smoked Mushroom ravioli stole the show for the entrees. No reservations so get their early!

Thai restaurant
Thai Orchid Restaurant is a trendy establishment part of a local chain, offering a variety of dishes such as curries, noodles, stir-fries, sushi, and sake. Customers have praised the delicious food but noted that it can get quite busy during peak hours with long wait times. The atmosphere is described as awesome with friendly servers. The menu also features plenty of vegan options which have been well-received by patrons.
I had an amazing experience at Thai Orchid! The interior is beautifully decorated with a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive, ensuring we were well taken care of throughout our meal. As for the food, it was absolutely delicious! Every dish was packed with authentic flavors, and the portions were generous. We left feeling full and satisfied. If you’re in the Vancouver area and craving tasty Thai food, this is the place to go.

They have the freshest sushi ever! Flavorful and delicious. My order was messed up and they were quick to fix the error. Can’t wait to come again🤩

We ordered Spicy Chicken with Cashew Nuts, Khao Soi, Pineapple Fried Rice, and Mango Sticky Rice. And I must say everything was delicious. Absolutely loved it!

My husband and our baby came in for a very delightful dinner. The staff are all really kind and friendly. We both ordered some variation of thai curry and some extra veges and it was delicious! Its very fairly priced with great portions. I had to make sure it was gf, df and soy free and the staff confirmed for me making it a good option if you have allergies. I also struggle with spice and asked for it very mild and it was good! My partner ordered a 4/5 spice level and said it definitely had a kick.

Exceptional welcome & services by Calista and associates! ALL of our menu options were eagerly described during our (3) 1st time visit at the downtown Vancouver WA location! We ordered the following FRESHLY prepared MEALS: Crab fried rice#68, Kwai Tiew Tom Yum-Shrimp, Pork, Squid#64, Goeng Ped Dang Ped Yang-Roasted Duck Curry#57, MAKI: California Roll substitute REAL Crab, Boston Roll-avocado/tuna. Artistic condiment presentation with REAL ORCHIDS! APPETIZERS:Coconut Prawns, Crispy Potstickers-chicken/cilantro DRINKS: Coconut Juice, Pineapple Juice. It took some time for serving our orders we ordered in stages. WELL WORTH IT because they were FRESHLY MADE to order & Tasted It! WE'LL BE BACK! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Grabbed a to-go order of Pad Thai from Thai Orchid and it definitely impressed. The flavor was rich and balanced, without that overly sweet ketchup taste or artificial pink color you sometimes find at other spots. What really caught my attention was the packaging, it came sealed like a bubble tea cup, which was a first for me. I expected the noodles to get soggy from the steam, but they stayed fresh and perfectly textured. Solid spot for takeout, I’ll be ordering again.

Came in on a Sunday night, prime dinner time, party of 5, and received delicious food and incredible service. Our amazing new friend, Emily, was quick, thorough, checked in frequently, and was incredibly personable and kind. Haven’t had service like that in years, all five of us ladies were so glad she was our server for the evening, she made the atmosphere even better and was so engaging. Food here, always 10/10 (Khao Soi is my ride or die, perfect every time). Give Emily a raise! Thanks again, we will be back 🙏

They have a few good vegetarian options. Our server was cognizant enough to inform me that certain items in a dish I wanted was shared with a deep fryer that fries meat items. I really appreciated that! Most people don’t think to mention it. I had the Drunk Thai Tea and Veggie Roll with asparagus- so good I ordered another and also an avocado roll. My bill was $41 which is not bad for all that. I live at the Waterfront and sick of the overpriced mediocre food! Definitely will be going back!

Who Song & Larry's

$$$$affordable
Mexican restaurant
This Mexican restaurant is lively and has a nice patio which draws in diners. Great service and fair prices are what make this place a success. They have large portions that are perfect for sharing, and their Flan was absolutely amazing! The birthday song was loud and everyone around sang along - it was really fun! We'll definitely be back, and I highly recommend Who Song & Larry's to anyone looking for a great Mexican dining experience.
We went here because we saw the cute yellow building with the happy hour sign from the bridge. We ate WAY too much of their delicious salsa and the cocktails were fantastic. Salvador the bartender (I hope I have his name correct) was absolutely fantastic. He was on point the entire time and we were very grateful for him. That was the first time we had had a date in months and we are so happy that it went beautifully. We will definitely be back. The photo is of the view from our table.

The location, right along the Columbia River, is great. The wait staff is very friendly and helpful, and the food is yummy. We had the Happy Hour specials, and found all the items definitely worth it! The queso was my favorite - it seemed to be made with real cheese (which I could tell by the way it "strung" off the chips) and was very tasty. We also had the margarita flight, which was lots of fun. We'll definitely be back - maybe for Sunday brunch?

My family and I have been curious about this place for a long time. So we were excited to come check it out today. He had no idea what the Mexican restaurant until we walked in. We're really glad we did The food was delicious. The staff was friendly. The restaurant felt welcoming. The music could be a little loud at times but it was fun and festive. The place was kept pretty clean too. We all enjoyed our meals. No complaints about the food or the staff. They have lovely seating area outside that has a really fantastic view of the river. The only thing I would change is giving people more space between the bathroom stalls and the toilet. I had to squeeze to get out of that bathroom door. My legs we're hitting the porcelain behind me so that I could get out of the bathroom stall.

Super disappointed. We came in and the worker asked us if we wanted inside or outside. We said “Outside”. She never came back and a line started to form. We waited 15 minutes until someone different came and took us outside I don’t where that worker went but this was OUR first and LAST time coming here.. very disappointed how they handle their customers. Other than that the waiter we had was very nice and caring. Food was amazing definitely filling.

As any one else noticed that there is a surcharge here? We’ve been coming here for years. Food was great, service was good, and the ambiance on the patio is perfect. Only thing to mention is a somewhat of a negative light is waited for 30 minutes while there were plenty of tables open, I brought it to the managers attention and she said “ oh sorry we had a shift change” funny after we sat, people were getting seated right and left! Bottomline, don’t go between 2 and 3 pm, and better communication from the manager… who stood with 2 other staff members at the podium for 15 minutes.

Great place! Our usual spot was closed so we decided to try something new. This spot was located right on the waterfront, had a parking lot (so no paying for parking, a bonus in downtown Vancouver), and the staff was really nice. They sat us by the river view, and were very attentive. I ordered the fish tacos, and my husband got the burrito bowl. Very solid food, great flavors, cooked to perfection. I look forward to coming back and trying the enchiladas!

Gustav's is a festive outpost offering traditional German cuisine and imported beers on tap. Recent changes in management have brought about an even better dining experience. The food, including cabbage rolls, meatballs, and chicken schnitzel, has been consistently delicious. The dessert options like apple strudel, chocolate mousse, and creme brulee are also highly recommended. The service is outstanding with friendly staff who make excellent suggestions.
🎉Celebrating our Anniversary 💕 Great Choice!!! First time here and just what we needed. Great atmosphere, incredible service, timing/pace was perfect, delicious food from appetizers (fondue not pictured) to main course to desserts, and the staff's teamwork is something other restaurants need to emulate!!! Thank you to Stevee M, Will, and the rest of the staff!

Service was uneven due to lounge seating which typically don't have designated service roles whereas dining rooms do! The Hungarian Jagerschnitzel with Marsala Paprika Sauce, mashed potatoes and Seasonal Veggies were delicious! Good portions and very satisfying!

This place was amazing, the atmosphere reminded me of Leavenworth mixed with Disneyland. The service was extremely inviting and helpful, he recommended a bunch of dishes and made them sound so tasty I completely changed my order last minute (something if you know me I never do). And it didn't disappoint AT ALL. I got the cabbage rolls which I would never normally get but he said it was his favorite because of the special tomato broth them make, and OH MY WORD it was the single best bite of food Ive tasted in years. It was so flavorful, complex and just incredibly tasty. My husband got the schnitzel and it was also very good and made with a left hand. Highly recommend!

We are so excited that we found Gustavs. The atmosphere is amazing and welcoming. Our server Stephanie was incredible and super friendly. We sat right by the kitchen which was immaculate and they had live music going on for Octoberfest which was a lot of fun. The portions were pretty large and the food was incredible. Probably the best Jager Schnitzel I've ever had. Honestly can't hype this place up enough. It will definitely be a regular spot for us and a place we take all our friends to.

Atmosphere was beautiful. The service was friendly and fast. Being asked for fondue right away was a turn off considering we cannot eat dairy. I fumbled on the menu afterward and seemed rushed to order. The spaetzle was over fried and bad rubber consitency. The hungarian bread pork with mushrooms and sauce was seasoned, but salty. Not enough sauce. Crisp breaded pork was good though. The gurken salat was huge and refreshing. We only had water and it came with floaties in it. 😑 After living in SW Germany for 3 years eating in many homes during my travel, I was dissapointed with this. It was not my best German food. Sorry.
Candra — Google review
I thought the food was ok. Having hot potato salad on the wurst platter was interesting. The fondue was very salty. One of us ordered the goulash special, and it was definitely over priced for the amount of beef that was on the dish. We waited 40 minutes to get in and then felt rushed by our server to clear the table. Was kinda disappointed..

First timers. We went there for my 35th birthday on July 27th, a Sunday evening and It was the BEST birthday dinner of my entire life! My boyfriend who is an extremely picky eater, couldn’t stop saying “WOW”!to every single thing he ate from the 3 plates we had, and of course so did I. We had the Bavarian Feast (Sampler of their popular foods), the Swiss fondue with pretzel & bratwurst, and The Cordon Bleu. We shared everything. We were blown away by how kind all staff were, our server has 5 stars in customer service, she was very attentive, friendly and great attitude/sense of humor. It’s super RARE to have a 5 star overall experience in the restaurant world today especially after the pandemic but GUSTAVS showed us that those rare restaurants are still out there. The manager came out at the end with a free chocolate mousse since it was our first time and thanked us for coming in. Thank you so much to all at Gustav’s!!!! Please tell the chef of that Sunday evening, that the food left us in a happy food coma -heaven!!! It was our first time having a proper German dinner and it was AMAZING. The atmosphere was incredible, it felt like you had traveled and were in an actual little German town. The booths they placed us at, were so comfortable!! My boyfriend, a disabled veteran has a hard time eating out sometimes because of his chronic back pain issues, but Gustavs had the perfect comfortable seating. The booths were comfortable and allowed him to enjoy his time there. We will be going back! THANK YOU!!

McGrath's Fish House

$$$$affordable
Seafood restaurant
Mc Grath's Fish House is a popular family restaurant chain that offers both fried and grilled seafood, as well as a variety of raw-bar options. It was recommended by the hotel where the individual stayed, located conveniently across the street. The person ordered more food than they could eat and took half of it back to their hotel for later consumption. They had fish with fries, consisting of 2 pieces of chips and 2 pieces of halibut.
Our mother recently moved into spring wood landing down the street. This is now our go to place. We came here Easter Sunday and we also came here for happy hour twice this week. All three times the service was wonderful and all three times the food was very good. The happy hour food prices are absolutely unbeatable. And lastly, they have an amazing lemoncello tiramisu that is literally out of this world. We had it all three visits. It is homemade fresh and a little bit on the tart side not too sweet and a lot of fresh whipping cream and a lot of fresh lemon juice and lemon zest. Just outrageously good.

On our way back to Seattle, my family and I decided to stop in Vancouver for a bite to eat. We spotted McGrath’s and thought it would be a good choice for seafood. Walking in, the hosts were kind and seated us right away, which gave us a good first impression. Our server, Liz, came over quickly to take drink orders. She was friendly, attentive, and set the tone with her positive attitude. Drinks arrived without issue, so we decided to dive into appetizers. Unfortunately, that’s where things took a turn. The crab-stuffed mushrooms were underwhelming, lacking both flavor and depth. The crab artichoke dip missed the mark completely, while the calamari tasted like it had been fried in old oil. I ordered oysters, but they were spawning, anyone who’s had them in that state knows they lose their firmness and end up tasting off, almost like organ meat. I managed a couple, but had to spit out two and left the rest. To their credit, the oysters were comped, but a restaurant specializing in seafood should know better than to serve them in that condition. Hoping the entrées would turn things around, we pressed on. Sadly, it only got worse. The jambalaya was overcooked, the seafood tasting frozen and low-quality. My daughter’s shrimp pasta was so unappealing she stopped after a single bite. My son and sister ordered the ribeye, but it was easily the worst cut of meat I’ve seen served at a restaurant tough, flavorless, overly fatty and a complete waste of money. My son, who practically lives on steak, left more than half of it on his plate. That’s saying something. Liz noticed our disappointment and asked what could be done better. I appreciated her honesty and willingness to help. She even offered us a dessert, but at that point we couldn’t bring ourselves to try anything else. While waiting for the check, a giant house spider ran across our area, which pretty much summed up the whole experience one nightmare after another. At the end of the day, I gave 2 stars, and those are entirely for Liz. She was kind, attentive, and genuinely tried to make things right. I truly hope she finds another restaurant where her talent and effort can shine, because McGrath’s food and quality control simply don’t live up to the expectations of a seafood restaurant.
Rebekah H — Google review
My group's experience overall was just mediocre. It was pretty fair in food quality and service. Stuffed Mushrooms were not good. No seasoning or flavor. The fried zucchini was a total bust. The clam chowder was good and the fish and chips was good but it wouldn't be a repeat destination for either or those dishes. The place is old and uses what looks like canned or frozen small shrimp for the pasta and soups.

We have enjoyed eating here a number of times. The prices are all over the place, so if you invite someone to dinner, you could end up spending a lot! On our recent visit, I got the pear, blue cheese walnut salad and grilled chicken add on. I was able to sub parmesan cheese for the blue. The salad had a cloud of finely shredded fried yam strings on top... I've never seen anything like it! I would happily eat it again. Peyton took good care of us.

We arrived early Saturday afternoon May24, 2025 with 1 less person than reserved. Seated in an elevated booth, comfortable I might add, and promptly setup with menus & cutlery for an amazing dining experience! Tyler provided EXCEPTIONAL SERVICE beginning with preliminary beverage requests, appetizers, ordering options, more beverages, appetizers then eventually the Main Course _ Steak Newport with Garlic Smashed Potatoes with 2 side dishes! TO BE CONTINUED......We never felt hurried to order the next course, drinks, appetizers etc., to finish our lunch and vacate our booth! Our Dining EXPERIENCE was Incomparable thanks to TYLER and associates! Entrees were Double LOBSTER TAILS with Coleslaw and Double GARLIC SMASHED POTATOES; SEAFOOD SAUTÉ with DOUBLE GARLIC SMASHED POTATOES and cup of Clam Chowder! Did I mention that the GARLIC SMASHED POTATOES are ALWAYS AWESOME!! YYUMMMM Dessert = HOUSE MADE CANNOLIS See photos for more description!!

Our waiter Payton was very nice but had too many tables so was a bit busy. Likely not his fault. The all you can eat deal was small portions, over cooked, greasy and the alfrado was cold. Really a nasty meal. Lights were as bright as possible and made the place look like a cafeteria at a hospital. The sole was not bad but the sauce was loaded with garlic even though it didn't say garlic on the menu I'm allergic to garlic. Loved this place years ago but I'll never go back.
David S — Google review
Thought it would be a safe spot to have some seafood being in the PNW and all. NOPE The oysters on the half shell were way too big for an appetizer and not cleaned very well….crunchy. The beer on tap was not good and I tried several samplers. The salad was okay. The Parmesan encrusted halibut was so overdone and dry I couldn’t finish it. Mashed potatoes were gray and lumpy. All and all a big disappointment. We definitely will not be going back. Too many restaurants to choose from to settle for below below average.

Stardust Diner is a hopping retro-style diner that offers classic American dishes, housemade milkshakes, and a nostalgic atmosphere. The vintage decor and 50s music create an inviting ambiance for diners. Customers rave about the generous portions of food, particularly the chicken Cobb salad and chicken fried steak breakfast. The diner also features personal jukeboxes at each table, adding to its old-school charm.
Very nice dinner. Food was tasty. Excellent food portions. Lots of menu choices. Reasonably priced. Have only eaten here once but intend to go back -- quite a few menu items catch my eye and this place is such a value for your money. Strongly recommend you try this dinner for yourself.

I had a wonderful experience here. First time. Came a little after lunch for a breakfast. They did not disappoint! Huge portions, relaxed atmosphere and we were greeted and taken to a booth. I was amazed by everything here. The menus is simple and a lot to choose from. I had the Giant Chicken Fried Steak and eggs that came with two slices of toast. Of course I couldn’t resist the onion rings for appetizer. Yum! Fried to perfection. Not oily and the dipping sauce that came with it was delicious! Not w, for my main meal, the chicken fried steak was absolutely delicious as well. Crispy on the outside, tender on the inside. Humongous portions. The gravy was perfect combo! I’m finished it all.. the hash I finished it with two over easy eggs. My plate was cleaned up pretty well. I couldn’t finish the toast and even the onions rings. That was my only take home food. I don’t know why I never checked this place out. Now, I could say, it is one of my favorites places to eat and I can’t wait to come back and try more options on the menu. I felt happy and full and overall, it’s better to come when it’s not peek time. The service was great. They actually forgot our onion rings and they did not charge us for it. So go ahead and try your experience here too if you haven’t gone. Light on your pocket and you will leave happy as a clam… a stuffed clam like me!

Haven’t been here in 15 years and the food was just as wonderful as I remember. The milkshakes were fantastic. The chicken was real chicken and crisp, but it wasn’t buried in breading! OK. I wanted to go here because of the old school diner feel, but wasn't expecting us to have doctors delicious food at a more affordable price! They were very busy but we didn't wait too long. The service was great and fast l, with everything coming out hot and fresh. They have many great things on the menu and we've been here a few times thanks to my son picking them. As a side note, I don't really recommend the steak and eggs. In this instance, it is a "you get what you pay for". (Though I'm picky about steaks and buy higher quality/ thicker cuts myself.) Aside from that, everything is good!

This retro diner is so fun and reliable! Worth the wait to get seated (unless you want to sit at the barstool/counter. They serve large portions for an affordable price. The staff are working hard and cleaning in between serving. The location is just off 162nd Ave in East Vancouver. We have always had good meals here, but do recommend the sandwiches and breakfast. The comfort food meals such as the pot roast isn't pot roast. It's slices of deli meat style roast beef, which we realized when it came out. My husband still enjoyed it, but was disappointed it wasn't traditional pot roast. The meatloaf was more like Salisbury steak, which I like. However, I was expecting meatloaf. It was fine, but I wouldn't order it again. Our son enjoyed the chicken strips and fries. We all devoured the banana split. Was the best thing we had! Save room for it.

Stopped in for lunch today. The place was busy and loud. ,(older group of people) my wife had the Chicken dinner, said the mashed potatoes were a bit on the cool side. The chicken was good. Generous portion 4 PCs. I went with the Boop bop bbq hamburger and tots. Burger was good and the tots were very crunchy the way they should be. As for the service, I felt like once we were served he disappeared never checked on us. So I will give this place another try for breakfast

Airport
Portland International Airport is a bustling hub with direct rail service to Downtown and features works by regional artists as well as frequent live music. The city of Portland offers diverse neighborhoods, each with its own unique charm, making it an ideal place for both locals and newcomers. For photographers, the city provides an array of backdrops and variety for capturing special moments like weddings and elopements.
Best airport that I have visited. Great local shops, restaurants, and bars. Doesn’t even feel like you are in an airport. Fast modern TSA Security. Baggage claim is always quick and easy. Light rail to downtown and beyond.

This airport may be smaller than many others in the U.S., but it’s incredibly charming. The woodwork on the ceiling is stunning, and honestly it is my favorite feature of the entire place. Some terminals even have live music, which makes the atmosphere so much more enjoyable. There’s a good variety of shops and restaurants to choose from. Security lines can get long, so having TSA PreCheck is a big plus. Overall, this is one of the best airports I’ve ever been to.
Dr. N — Google review
In August 2025, we visited the Portland International Airport, known as PDX, in Portland, Oregon. We were taking an Allegient Airlines direct flight from Portland, Oregon to Provo, Utah. The PDX airport was clean and well-maintained, and there are clever and colorful displays and artwork, and many commercial stores. All of the airplane on-boarding processes, from the off-site long-time term parking to boarding the Allegiant Airbus 320 airplane, happened as expected and without any problems or issues. The TSA offered people to go to the other security check-in side, which had smaller lines, and this was helpful. It was great to see the mighty Columbia River, Mount Hood, and the transition from Oregon Green Forest to Oregon Desert from the airplane. Visiting Portland International Airport was an enjoyable and memorable experience.

Beautifully renovated airport that is surprisingly big and full of amenities. Lots of food and beverage options throughout the airport, and all the facilities were clean and functional. Although the walk to the rental car area is a solid 10-minute walk, it is mostly flat and easy to navigate.
Wei-Ai T — Google review
Navigating the airport was surprisingly smooth and efficient, which I greatly appreciated. The facilities were well-maintained and clean, enhancing the overall comfort during my wait. Furthermore, the clear signage made it easy to find my way around without any confusion. Overall, it was a positive experience that left me feeling relaxed and ready for my journey.
Mr A — Google review
The thing is my arrival and departure times were at night so almost all the shops were closing. It has cool architecture and designs but I didn't get to interact with staff or enough people to get a opinion. I didn't find the bathroom super clean. But at least it's close to downtown.
Julio P — Google review
The architect clearly makes strides with the wooden ceiling that strikes every passenger’s eye sight when he/she walks out of the aircraft. The design is thoughtful and resourceful. Timber is naturally the best choice that represents Oregon well.
John Y — Google review
Portland airport used to be a basic, no frills, no good restaurants, airport. It’s gotten much better over the last five years. There’s still construction going on in late 2025 so there’s a long walk to and from Terminal E but it will get better. Don’t be discouraged by the looong walk through the South Tunnel to and from the Rental Car Center. It only takes about 7 minutes to get to the terminal.
