Shirley Heights

Mountain peak
Shirley Heights, located in the South of Antigua, is a restored military lookout perched on a hill that provides breathtaking views of the English Harbour. The site offers sweeping harbor views and hosts weekly live music events. Visitors can enjoy the stunning vistas from this elevated vantage point, with sights extending across the Caribbean to Montserrat and Guadaloupe. Additionally, guests can explore the partially-restored fortifications of the colonial observation post at Shirley Heights.
If you go to Nelson's Dockyard, you must stop off here first to get great views and photos of the dockyard from a high point. There are some shops up here and a museum worth visiting. The area covered by the heights is quite large, but tour vans will surely take you to the 2 or 3 main areas. The island you will see on he horizon is 'Montserrat.' Because there are 3 sites called ' Shirley Heights' I have put this review and pictures on all of them. Enjoy the heights, then Nelson's Dockyard.

We went on Sunday March 9th and yes it was very busy. But it was fun chatting with people from other countries and taking in the spectacular views of English harbour. Probably one of the most picturesque places we've ever watched a sunset. The steel drum band playing was great and seeing a reggae band live for the first time was memorable. Certainly a sight to see when in Antigua
Scott — Google review
This place is out of this world. The views are spectacular the atmosphere is second to none. The food is so tasty. You come here and soak up everything. It fills your soul and your heart to the maximum. It's a place that's definitely top on my list and it should be top of your list of places to visit
Jeff U — Google review
I'm so glad I got to experience this view with my own eyes. It is by far the best view on the island the food the steel band the reggae singing and the rum punch all excellent.
Forest P — Google review
Sunday night for the sunset and steel band is great. It is busy but we found a spot to perch on the wall with a great view of the sunset and the harbour.
Olwen J — Google review
Amazing atmosphere, bbq was a great value! Music band was really good. Loved every minute!
Mark S — Google review
We got free entry on a sunday as part of our island tour. The view was amazing but it was very cloudy so we didn’t see the sunset. The music was lively and at 6:30pm, a new band started playing majority western music so everyone was singing along. The reason for my 3 stars is that the chicken (just chicken, not burger) gave me really bad food poisoning (it was the only thing i ate that day). Didn’t really get to enjoy the last few days of my stay since i was in bed.
Coffee — Google review
A breathtaking view from the marina and the wonderful Caribbean Sea. Take some time to stay there only appreciating the movement of the sea and its blue color. After that, enjoy a drink at the bar or just go down with the feeling you are blessed. The experience is incredible!

Nelson's Dockyard is a historical site dating back to the 1700s-1800s, featuring a naval history museum and restored buildings housing shops, restaurants, and bars. It is the world's only working Georgian dockyard. Visitors can also explore nearby attractions such as Bettys Hope, a restored sugar mill depicting the island's history of slavery.
This place was absolutely amazing. Antigua is a beautiful island. We spent 7 days here and had so many adventures. The sailing was great, snorkeling was phenomenal, and the people were kind and helpful. We have already booked a return trip! Nelson’s Dockyard has a lot to offer in the way of tourism. So much to see and do. Make sure to visit Shirley Heights and the Blockhouse when you are on this side of the island!
Amanda C — Google review
Very interesting historical site with several well preserved buildings, a small museum, harbour mouth fortifications and a hiking trail. The Copper & Lumber Store Hotel is a business on its own, but its possible to get inside and visit a part of it while walking around the dockyards. There are quite a few pretty boats to see as well, but I suppose that varies with who's visiting.
Tomasz J — Google review
So much history and beautiful views while on Antigua. The Nelson's Dock Yard is a must visit when on Antigua We took a tour bus with a knowledgeable guide to the dock. A great bar and restaurants are here too.
John T — Google review
Beautiful. Amazing culture to be found and we found wonderful restaurants, Pillars and Boom Hotel. This place was amazing even in the quiet season. I dont think we'd have got a seat in high season so we were very lucky to go at the time we did
Nicole W — Google review
A definite to visit whilst in Antigua - completely restored world heritage site with good facilities, restaurants and stalls. $15 US entry fee per person.
Wendy C — Google review
It is $15 US to enter. However, this grants you access to four places in the area which is worth it (15 minute movie on the history of Antigua, Shirley Heights). The Dockyard has a museum and it looked like a restaurant that was empty when I visited. Not much boats were there at the time. Parking is available.
Nicky G — Google review
This is a great spot to learn about the island's history and check out artifacts or relax and stroll the property and view the Harbour with the boats. Great for all ages
Carissa — Google review
The entrance fee $15 US per person covers not only this area but the entrance to Shirley hights museum and overlook if you do it on the same day. It's nice to wonder around but it's pretty commercialized

Pigeon Point Beach, located just a short drive from English Harbor in Antigua, is a beloved destination for both tourists and locals. The beach offers sheltered waters and is not as crowded as some of the longer western beaches on the island. It's known for its great nearby beach bars and cafes, making it a convenient and beautiful option for visitors. Additionally, there are opportunities for snorkeling near the shore, perfect for beginners looking to explore marine life.
Pigeon Point Beach is amazing! The sand is soft, the water is clear, and the docking bridge is so cool—it’s perfect for photos and enjoying the view. It’s a peaceful spot to relax, swim, or just take in the beauty of Antigua. Can be quite busi at times tho. Highly recommend visiting!
Andrey S — Google review
Really awesome beach if you want to feel the local vibes off-season. Great mountain views, nice cool water, birds chiping, all nice vibes. You have to find shade though, sun too hot! A lot of trees around, accompanies withe beautiful smiles from the locals.
Andy S — Google review
Absolutely amazing beach. Great for snorkelling and sea turtles!! We kayaked here from our hotel. Quite, deserted Island feel!!
P ( — Google review
I wouldn’t go out of my way to visit again. Just a few local men wandering around asking for beer. The beach was nothing special.
Casey — Google review
I have been to so many beaches as I did a lot of island hopping. By far, this is the best beach ever. Walking distance from the yacht club where we stayed. The amazing water glass effect, small waves which is great for kids and adults. Warm water and shallow too in some parts. When you are in the water, trust me, you dont want to come out. Best thing too a lot of shady trees where u can sit for a picnic and long stretch white sand beach for good exercise. Easy parking. Restaurant available although I didn’t try. Down side is no toilet. Spectacular 🥰
Hag — Google review
This beach is 10/10. Water and sand is perfect. No waves. Super easy to swim in. We went on a Sunday and really only got kinda full towards the end of the day. Nice mix of locals and vacationers. The beach is super clean. Basically no litter which is nice! There is also a nice mix of shady and sunny spots so it’s really lovely to spend the entire day there like we did. Hot tip: bring snacks, water and a good book and settle in for a yummy relaxing day at the beach!
Riki R — Google review
Watch your approach on the road to the beach, there are a number of potholes. The beach is great for walking or swimming, although on the day there was a bit of seaweed washed up on the beach. We got a drink at the bar at the end of the beach and watched the sunset
Frank E — Google review
Been going to this beach all my life. Best beach in Antigua hands down. There are bars and restaurants bathroom facilities and a playground for the kids. You can also rent snorkels and kayaks from Paddle and Drink Enterprise.

Fort Berkeley

Historical landmark
Fort Berkeley is a historic site located in English Harbour, Antigua. It overlooks the smaller inlet leading to Galleon Beach and Nelson's Dockyard, which has been used by the British navy since 1725. The fort continues to guard the entrances into English Harbour, protecting ships from strong waves. Visitors can also explore a hiking trail that can be accessed from the Dockyard or Pigeon Point Beach.
i climbed down from the bridge part and there was some great tide pooling! i notice that most of the people visiting the island are old and rich, so maybe they shouldn't do that or they'll break a hip. in any case, found some chiton, rock burrowing urchins, barnacles, shells, and more! The fort is pretty cool too, i guess.
Josh S — Google review
Fort Berkeley still guarding the entrances into English Harbour today by keeping the strong waves at bay, protecting the ships inside. However, to my surprise I was a bit confused when I saw the lonely Cannon that I was searching for, for more 25 years. Upon checking the comparisons with those than are buried as decorations in the dockyard, it bears absolutely no resemblance. What I tell you this Cannon bears all the resemblance of those Cannons at Fort James, It was removed probably sometime in the 1980’s. You can find missing spot at Fort James right between the three Cannons pointing to Fort Barrington. From my recollections of Fort James in the 70’s they were four guns in that spot. It was exactly where they planted a concrete pole that contained the security cameras and some communications apparatus. The entrance of English Harbour was formerly defended in times of warfare by a massive iron chain, that attached from fort Berkley to fort Charlotte across the mouth of the harbour. In addition to that by the two forts on each of the harbour opening. Over at Fort Charlotte, it was decorated and mounted with four guns, 18 and 24 pounders and over here at Fort Berkley the decorations constitutes of 24 guns which of all since disappeared.

Beaches
Galleon Beach is a serene and picturesque beach located in English Harbour, offering great opportunities for snorkeling and the chance to spot turtles. The area also features historical sites such as Fort Berkeley and Middle Ground Barracks, providing visitors with panoramic views of the surrounding landscapes. This secluded beach is perfect for capturing breathtaking sunset photos while enjoying the stunning harbor vistas.
Galleon Beach is located on the southern portion of Antigua by freeman’s bay and English Harbor. The water is very calm and there is a bar/grill available to get something to eat and drink. For those interested in a hike, there are trails from here to carpenters rock where there is a tidal pool. You could also hike all the way up to Shirley Heights for a great view overlooking English Harbor.
Jim H — Google review
Went for a day trip while on the cruiser. 15 usd per person each way, local taxi. The beach is beautiful. It is more for people who like snorkelling, and not for those who like standing and walking in the sea… the thing is - it is full of corals, so you shouldn’t be stepping around really. We saw a lot of fish, some yellow and red corals. We snorkel towards the left side (as if you are going to Mermaid Garden Rock Pool). I liked that no one bothered us with anything, we could be completely alone, and do whatever we liked.
Insightful E — Google review
Lovely beach at ot near the end of a few hiking trails. We went here immediately after a hike on two occasions and it was very refreshing. The beach access is saddled between two resorts, which can sometime make find a parking spot a bit difficult.
Makesi B — Google review
Pretty and clean beach conveniently located near the Nelson Dockyards, the Pillars of Hercules, the trail to the Mermaid Gardens, etc. There are some nice spots for snorkeling further down.
Tomasz J — Google review
We spent a few hours here enjoying the beach away from the crowd. Nice beach. Almost got to see a sea turtle if the water had been clearer.
Tammy N — Google review
A beautiful beach although not the white sanded variety you find on the west coast. Having said that, the snorkelling was better than we have experienced on other beaches, and we did see a turtle pop its head out of the water although it swam off pretty quickly when we tried to join it! If you’re in to snorkelling, follow the ridge of rocks along the shoreline and you’ll see a few different varieties of tropical fish hiding underneath. There’s a sunken galleon by the rocks at the entrance to the bay. We watched a group led by a guide swim out to it, but I don’t think I’d have the confidence to do it by myself. Sun loungers were in 2 locations: one outside the hotel at one end of the beach - we were told that we couldn’t rent these as non-residents. So we walked to the other end of the beach to the other sun loungers to be told that they weren’t open until the following day. After a bit of bartering however, we were allowed to rent them for 100 ECD for the day for 2 (negotiated down from 180 ECD). We paid it but I did feel a bit fleeced! We visited in June and it was very quiet. All in all, a great beach with some added interest besides sunbathing.
Carolyne C — Google review
our favorite beach on the island. if you go thru the trail on the left hand side of the beach (or swim past the rocks) you’ll end up at a secluded beach where there aren’t that many people with shading as well. the snorkeling there is great, there’s turtles, a shipwreck and loads of fish. for lunch there’s Loose cannon where the food and vibe are just awesome. There’s free parking if you buy drinks or food from the restaurants
Vladut M — Google review
Stunning Beach ! Galleon Beach is beautiful! The color of the water is bright and pretty; It’s also not very cold of a temperature in it. It is however rocky on the entrance of the water so you may need to consider that for kids. There is a beach bar on the beach (kinda pricey but good vibe) . On one end is also a high end resort and on the other end is a view right beneath Shirley Heights. There is a restroom on property as well. I saw groups of people snorkeling and having great fun and a few other water sports activities happening. I enjoyed it.

Shirley Heights Lookout

Restaurant
Shirley Heights Lookout is a restored military lookout and gun battery that offers breathtaking panoramic views of the Caribbean Sea and the island of Antigua. Situated nearly 500 feet above English Harbour, this iconic spot is a must-visit for travelers. The lookout was built in 1773 by Sir Thomas Shirley as a watchtower to oversee his vast sugar plantation.
A must-do for an intimate island experience with great music, lovely views. Reggae Thursdays are supposedly quieter than Sundays but my, still very busy with a good 20-30 minute wait to get thru the food line. Didn't seem streamlined or with much verbal direction so come with patience. A few servers and cooks weren't happy to be there, others were kind. The grilled wahoo was excellent and worth the wait. Music was the best part.
Carol R — Google review
10$ USD entrance I went on a reggae Thursday, the food line takes about 20-30 minutes but it’s actually very good. Highly recommend huge vibe with a great view of the bay
Mitchel C — Google review
Shirley Heights Lookout Restaurant A Must Visit for Sunset Views & History Lovers! Visited during my trip to Antigua not for the food, but for the breathtaking panoramic views and rich historical setting. Even without dining, the experience was unforgettable. If you're coming just for the views and history, it's still 100% worth it! The restaurant is built among restored military ruins, transforming a historic site into a vibrant, open air destination full of Caribbean charm. 📍 Location Tip: Located inside a national park with entrance fee of $40 EC / $15 USD (includes access to the Officer's Quarters & The Blockhouse). ✨ What Makes It Special: Perched high above English and Falmouth Harbours, the views especially at sunset or sunrise are absolutely stunning. Watching the harbor glow under golden skies is truly magical. ✨️ Helpful Tips: ⏳️ Arrive early on Sundays for the best seats and to avoid long lines (based on reviews). 🌅 Weekdays are quieter and great for a peaceful experience. 💲 Bring cash/card, food & drinks can be pricey, but the vibe makes up for it (according to other reviews). 📸 Don’t forget your camera, this place is a goldmine for sunrise and sunset photography! Even without trying the food or drinks, I can say Shirley Heights is a must see in Antigua. From local music and culture to its unbeatable views, it’s perfect for travelers looking to experience the island’s spirit. Whether you're there to dance, relax with a drink, or just take in the view this spot delivers.
Jainisse K — Google review
Heights and views beautiful. AVOID FOOD. Full tourist - calling that jerk chicken was a war crime. It’s roast chicken with a jerk sauce over it, served with chips. Service was glum: like I’d offended them in another life. Must go for the view, just don’t get hungry.
Alex — Google review
Shirley heights on a Sunday is a must! Don't drive...get there early if you want to get a seat. Even with the rain we managed to get a view of a beautiful sunset. The queues for the food are long so plan in advance so you dont miss the sunset as the place fills up pretty quick. The steel band were great and the rum punch was on another level!
Madhav I — Google review
Yes there is a fee to show up... Food and service is good. Definitely go on a Thursday or Sunday. Reggae Thursday is a vibe.
Keniel L — Google review
This a must visit spot on a Sunday. The vibes are definitely there - especially the sunset, the music is jamming with the steel pan and live music, food smells on the grill, & drinks are on deck(but byob to avoid the lines). Hire a professional driver to get there; unless you are comfortable with driving on the left side at night. Purchase your tickets in advance! The line for the food and drinks can get long during peak hours. Go early! Wear comfortable shoes. Ladies, leave the heels! You can end up straining an ankle if you are careful.
Carissa — Google review
Everything about this place was amazing. The food, entertainment, and the views! Credit cards accepted, but recommend cash

Pillars Of Hercules

Geologic Formations
The Pillars of Hercules, located in the English Harbor area of Antigua, are stunning limestone rock formations that jut out into the waters where English Harbour meets Freemans Bay. These sinewy cliffs offer breathtaking views and are popular among divers and snorkelers for their abundant marine life, including tropical fish, sea turtles, and stingrays. The evening is a particularly magical time to visit as the setting sun casts a warm glow over the stone.
The Pillars of Hercules is a breathtaking natural wonder and a must-visit spot in Antigua. The hike to get there took about 20 minutes from the beach, and while it required some effort, the scenic views along the way made it totally worth it. Once we arrived, the sight was absolutely picturesque—massive limestone rock formations rising dramatically from the water, shaped by centuries of waves and wind. The contrast between the rugged cliffs and the crystal-clear turquoise water made for a stunning view, perfect for photos. The area feels untouched and peaceful, offering a great escape into nature. If you're visiting, wear comfortable shoes since the trail can be a bit uneven. It’s also a great spot for snorkeling when the waters are calm. Overall, a must-see for nature lovers and adventure seekers looking for something beyond the usual beach experience in Antigua!
Nicholas D — Google review
Very recommended easy walk from Galleon beach - don't make the mistake of climbing the high trail, follow the beach-level one. Once at the foot of the pillars, ensure that you go around the corner to get the full experience. It looks intimidating but those rocks are not all that slippery, and the barnacles help too. Do not wear flip-flops. Majestic.
Tomasz J — Google review
I was able to pass by these pillars from my dive boat as we went diving really close to where these are located. I would recommend seeing this from the water if you are able, as the shore in front of them can be really short and dangerous if the water levels are high. These pillars are beautiful and a very cool site to be seen!
Bonnie S — Google review
Take the trails. At the end of the trail you gotta walk around the corner on the rocks to see it if you went the same way we did.
Buck C — Google review
If you are brave enough or you have a keenness for hiking don't be put off by those that tell you can only see them by boat. Just be careful as the trail is well kept. Beautiful spot for nice pictures
Francesca V — Google review
Took the route out to the Pillars via the beach, which was fine for me, but my partner was wearing sandals so she found it trickier. But 100% worth the trip in my opinion, it's such a cool spot, and so different to the rest of the island. Wish I had been able to spend more time here just relaxing, and I would have if it had been low tide!
Danny H — Google review
The gps takes you to what is now a resort entrance. There is plenty of public parking though right next to a beautiful beach. You can walk right into this beach. There are two hikes right by this spot as well. The lookout hike is 1/2 mile long but very vertical, view was amazing at the top!
Jack S — Google review
The hike from Galleon Beach to Carpenter's Rock through Pillars of Hercules was phenomenal. The most beautiful scenery and picturesque places to take photos. Highly recommend it.

Nelson's Dockyard National Park

National park
Nelson's Dockyard National Park in Antigua is a historic site named after Admiral Horatio Nelson. It played a crucial role in monitoring naval activity and providing shelter for passing vessels. Today, it functions as a working marina with restaurants and bars. The park once housed naval ships and served as a lookout to the English, but now it also serves as a museum and national park.
An excellent place for a blend of history and hiking. We tried Nelson's official rum punch and a tasty no-dairy pastry from the bakery. We explored old fort ruins and hiked a well maintained trail. We hope to come back and spend more time.
AJStoner B — Google review
The Old Harbour, once a historic spot, now feels more like a village for wealthy boat owners. While it has some charm, it doesn't offer much beyond expensive yachts and upscale properties. Honestly, it could be avoided if you're looking for a more authentic or engaging experience. Not quite what we expected.
Marta O — Google review
Disappointed. Over the last few years it’s become effectively a shopping and eating establishment that you have to pay to get in to and lost its historical story line
Chris C — Google review
Went to Nelson Dockyard and it did not disappoint. Nicely put together National Park. Well kept... Clean.... Friendly staff. Would go
Dr. O — Google review
Im not a huge history buff, but this place is well worth a visit in my opinion. It is very well maintained, and if you try to wind your head back to when it was built, and its purpose, it is a really interesting place. I found the staff pleasant and helpful. I saw a one star review and felt compelled to reply that their negative review was probably more down to that individuals attitude, not the place or the experience 🙂
Andrew R — Google review
We were disappointed during our visit to Nelson's Dockyard National Park as, despite payment and digital proof, we were denied tickets due to a lack of necessary paperwork in the credit card machine. The staff's incompetence, shouting, and unfriendliness led to a negative experience, earning them a low rating. We won't revisit and advise against doing so without pre-purchased tickets. Management should invest in staff training and improve customer service with the entry fees to address this issue.
Sebastian S — Google review
Visited 3 times each was such a joy stepping back in time

The Nelson's Dockyard Nationy Park is located on the South Eastern section of Antigua. This Georgian Park comprises, among others; The Nelson's Dockyard Fort Bekerley, Nelson's Dockyard Marina and The Antigua Slipway Ltd. The constantly restored and still operational Unesco World Heritage Site is the main venue of the Antigua Sailing week and The Fishing Tournament as well. Do plan to also visit on Christmas Day for a fun party atmosphere. With year round activities and attractions it is hard for me to pick a favorite time. Plan repeat visits for Nature Trails, Historic and Archeological enlightenment plus modern entertainment. The whole area and the environs tend to be a hive of activity both day and night especially during 'The Season's". The place can be very quiet during the off-season, so pick your time.

The Dockyard Museum, situated within the historic Nelson's Dockyard in Antigua, offers a captivating insight into the rich history of the world's only continuously operational Georgian Dockyard. Housed in the former quarters of admirals dating back to 1855, this museum also goes by the name Admirals House Museum. It features an exhibition showcasing the naval presence on the island and serves as a hub for research.
Highly educational museum, we spent a solid hour there just taking in everything and learning about the history & the roots of Antigua. Appreciate the craftsmanship and narrative!

Great Museum on the history of the Island. Gift shop.
P ( — Google review
Whilst the dockyard has been restored, apart from the museum, the rest of the buildings have been given over to shops and restaurants, there's no recreation of the dockyard as it once was. And you have to run the gauntlet of cheap souvenir sellers on the way in & out. Your ticket also covers you for Dow's Hill, which has a small montage/show and Shirley Heights, both of which have excellent views.

Dow's Hill Interpretation Centre is a museum-like facility that provides a brief overview of the history of Antigua and Barbuda, spanning from the early Amerindian settlers to modern times. The 15-minute presentation offers insights into life during the British military rule and the struggles against slavery. Situated along Lookout Trail, it features multimedia exhibits showcasing the island's history and boasts observation decks with stunning views of the harbor.
My son loved learning about the history of the island through the video, and the views are definitely worth the drive up. If you are staying nearby (I think in the national park boundary) they will extend your pass to last for a week so you can visit the area multiple times and do some of the walks.

Good place to learn about Antigua, past and present. A little dated, but charming, kid friendly and authentic. The views from this place are worth the trip alone.
Ella S — Google review
We enjoyed great views of Antigua and the blue ocean from up here. We learned a lot about the history of the island and the people at the Interpretation Center that presented it all in an interesting theater format. Everyone was very friendly. We took a guided tour bus to get here Highly recommended!
John T — Google review
The interpretation center joins the collection of Antigua national park sites that offers a great perspective of what the island nation has to offer. If you are looking for great views, some history, and a check off your bucket list, look no further than this awesome attraction! Don’t forget to stay for the presentation, as well as grabbing some views from the lookout. They should bring a restaurant here as well!
Roy M — Google review
A lot of these photos are posted for the wrong location! Yes they are around the same area but not necessarily walking distances in this hot sun we have. The interpretation centre has been around since I was a child growing up. Whenever we have guests visiting from away we would take an Island Drive and end up at this place. The building itself is beautiful and it has a lot of interesting artifacts. The view from here includes Falmouth harbor, English harbor and Freemans bay. The show itself has not changed in years, with a few added extra video footage of recent carnival parades. The display desperately needs an update and the video and story line. Maybe one day!

Definitly a must to visit if you are in the area. One of the best view of the coast. Got a lot of instagram views from the reel I did over there.

It's a really great historical overview of the island and culture. The views are amazing. It's a great first stop before visiting English Harbor.

The view is stunning and there is even more! A nice little presentation about the history of Antigua guided by a very friendly staff member in an air conditioned room! There are some interesting (or disrupting) antennas up there too!

Caribbean restaurant
Trappas is a charming restaurant with a welcoming exterior featuring street-side tables under parasols. The interior is vibrant, adorned with colorful murals and filled with a lively mix of yachties, tourists, and locals. The menu offers comforting dishes like surf and turf, mashed potatoes, and beer-battered catch of the day. The food is bursting with flavor, mainly Creole but also featuring influences from Thai and Italian cuisine.
Good place to eat. The food was very tasty, and the service was quick and friendly. I had the mahi mahi fish special, and others in the parts had the pork chop and green curry fish. All were very good. They did have a bunch of vegetarian options listed, more than normal. The cocktails were also reported to be very good.
Brent C — Google review
Decent food and offers vegetarian options (simply just the meat dishes but without meat). Service was quite slow on a Sunday night. Portions of the vegetarian and grilled fish items we had were relatively small compared to the ones with meat.

10 of out 10. The atmosphere is beautiful. Excellent service. Great menu for both food and drinks. My selection was a stake and it was cooked to perfection. Drink of choice was the strawberry 🍓 cruch, and I must highlight the taste is amazing. I look forward to making here my date night spot.
Kiesha B — Google review
Good food but slow service and slow to get your drinks. Enjoyed my steak but the rice was bland. I would return to try other things on the menu.
Arlene J — Google review
Fantastic food. Really well cooked and delicious. Local foods done so well. We had three course and the signature rum punch and couldn’t get enough. The staff are also fantastic, friendly and funny too. This is the must stop place to eat if you’re staying in Falmouth bay or English harbour. Also great gluten free cake!
Kate H — Google review
The ambience was pleasing. Service was excellent, appetizers were delicious. The pasta was a bit watery.
Christla ( — Google review
Being my 2nd visit, I must say it's a come back from my 1st. The customer service was great. The meals are set for that restaurant but the various burst of flavors are tasted in every bite. The mixologist did a mixed smoothie blend and a chocolate infused creme topped with coffee as requested based on my mood...Totally on point with taste as presentation. The items are reasonably priced but parking is suggested in the car port next to the gas station. Wheelchair accessibility. The wait time was reasonable however this was with limited patrons.
Andrew N — Google review
I had dinner here twice during my Antigua trip - fish of the day (wahu) once, and chicken curry the other time. The entree came with a side and a bread basket that was excellent. The portions of the entrees were still on the small side given the price but within English Harbour, this is a solid choice.

With its fiery sunsets and magical ambiance, it's a popular spot for weddings. The passionate hosts, Claudine & Guillaume, offer an open-plan Caribbean beach house restaurant specializing in local seafood and an exclusive French wine list. V accommodating. We walked in from the beach looking for light lunch. We had lovely beach menu. Corn, salad and fish cakes. They were all delicious and we wolf it down quite quickly. Great ambience. Live band too. Reservation would be better if u don’t want to be rushed for ur meal.
Hag — Google review
We spend the day on Pigeon Beach yesterday and decided to try Catherines for a light lunch. The atmosphere and welcoming even though we just walked in off the beach with no reservation was very well received. Staff were excellent and attentive. I had the lobster and shrimp baguette which was delicious. The wife had a spicy salami, chorizo and jalapeno flat bread, was very nice. But she wished she had mine. Service was on point and we were not rushed at all. A lovely chilled vibe with nice chill out music. To be honest the beach menu was great value. The burgers cooked to your liking came with fries looked amazing but glad we didn’t get one as they were massive. The Restauarant menu looked good too although a bit pricier understandably Going back tomorrow, says it all. Went back and had a wonderful afternoon. The wife had a lobster cesar salad with big chunks of lobster and I had the burger both delicious. Followed by pina coladas and rum punches. Great day and service as always.

Excellent restaurant on the beach. Food is really good and the location is right on the beach. There was a big group of us and no one had a bad meal.

Great service , good food. Live entertainment that was really good, access to the beach and they have a shower and washroom.

Idyllic oasis on the beach. Large decked area is beautiful dappled sunlight. Friendly service from happy, smiley people. Ice cold beer in chilled glasses.
Michael C — Google review
Went twice during our week in Antigua. Once for lunch and another for Valentine’s Day dinner. Both meals were brilliant, the band who played on V Day were beautiful. The seafood was unbelievable. Would say it’s on the pricier side for Antigua but the setting (right on the most gorgeous beach) food, ambience makes it all worth it. They kindly booked us a taxi and another when ours didn’t turn up! Only criticism was that the surf and turf was a very small portion as a main for us both - would have loved more for the price we paid for the set menu. Highly recommend as a treat to anyone visiting Antigua!

Nestled at Admirals Inn, this restaurant provides an opportunity to savor delectable meals while enjoying soft jazz music against the backdrop of the waterfront deck.
Simply the best breakfast and the most beautiful atmosphere in town. The staff are absolutely amazing and I would give them 6 stars if that were an option
Jordan W — Google review
We only had Caesar salad and dessert (Antiguan mess, which was absolutely delicious) so don't have an opinion on other dishes. Salad was average. Atmosphere was great and relaxing, staff very attentive.
Dorothy K — Google review
Maybe my favorite spot on the island. Gorgeous with friendly staff and incredible decor and vibes. Competent efficient and lovely. They've perfectly woven upscale old world hospitality vibes through the historic ruins and perfectly manicured tropical foliage in a way that would already be perfect without the gorgeous harbour views and refreshing indoor cross breeze. There's no better place to kick up your feet, meet some new friends or have a quiet moment with your partner.
Justin W — Google review
Everything here is exceptional. The setting on English harbour is stunning, the food is delicious and the waiters are friendly and attentive. We came here twice and the food was perfect both times. I would recommend everything on the menu, and the many different flavours of colada’s. Arguably the best restaurant on the island.

Stopped at Nelson's dockyard after Shirley heights from the cruise port. Sat out under a gazebo for some drinks overlooking the water. Beautiful setting and admirals inn also was a beautiful hotel. Beer was cold and the girls had mimosas. Highly recommend this stop.
George Z — Google review
Limited menu options, but meals quiet expensive, however the meal i had tasted great. I love the ambience and the astentics. Customer service was a little below average, but the restaurant is worth the visit. Best thing in my opinion, is it's great location to take photos and to interact with tourists.
Aahil F — Google review
My wife and I loved our food and drinks - highly recommend the shrimp orzo which was arguably my best meal in Antigua. Our seat was along the dock and such a beautiful setting with an extra bonus watching the fish swim around.

Ambience is lackadaisical, with great views over the lake, with nice breeze, pelican catching his lunch and relaxing atmosphere in general. But as always in hospitality it is all about people and Mr Seisal (apologies if I butcher his name), made my day, and vibrant, elegant and knowledgable madam Shama made best of my stay wanting to come back for dinner. Thanks!

Nestled in the scenic shores of Antigua, Incanto is an Italian restaurant and lounge bar located near Nelson's Dockyard. The restaurant offers a taste of home in the Caribbean with classic dishes like parmigiana, pesto gnocchi, and fresh tuna paccheri pasta prepared by Italian chefs. With a relaxed yet exclusive atmosphere, Incanto provides a family-friendly vibe and features a renowned lounge bar.
Completely legit Italian. Manager has the accent too! One of those places where the quality of the pasta is enough. It's that good. I asked for a penne dish but wanted a red sauce, essentially combining two menu offerings. They were quick to accommodate my request. My wife got the lasagna and was so pleased she did. Significantly different than lasagna in the states. Manager makes the crafted cocktails. There is a wide menu of cocktails. Fresh ingredients everywhere, some out of their garden. Odd place to get to if your on land. You have to drive up to an old ship repair yard and park there, walk through the work space and keep going to the water. But worth it. Keep going!

One of the best places in Antigua. I am Italian and l can say this is the most authentic Italian restaurants with also incredible fresh fish (cooked and raw). The atmosphere is lovely, and everyone is very welcoming and kind. Really recommend this place as one of the best on the island!!

Wonderful food, lovely view, and friendly service. We came for dinner and had bruschetta, lasagna, spaghetti, tiramisu, and wine. Everything was delicious, high quality, and authentic. One of the best meals we have had on the island! The family who runs the restaurant was very friendly and provided great service. Great value for the quality of food and portion sizes.

We loved this restaurant!! Starting with the service. The owners are a so kind and present for all their guests. You feel like You are in their house! Our server was so adorable and really added to the enjoyment of our meal. The food came out in the right pace. Not to fast not too slow! The ambiance was gorgeous. Like perfect lively seaside restaurant but not overly energetic that it felt overwhelming. Music was all over the place, 80’s 90’s jazz etc. But cute and fun we didn’t mind the eclectic mix. It’s really convenient that they have a dingy trip take you to and from the restaurant! I don’t think the food was the best. But the whole experience was 5 stars I would def still recommend to anyway.

THE BEST! Incanto is for sure one of the best restaurant in Antigua. The food menu is filled with options, the servers are amazing, the owners are amazing! Food and drinks are great… the Ambiance is by far the best! Love the night view as well. On top of all this, the price for such good food is not bad.. WIN WIN restaurant. I dined multiple times while visiting. Highly recommend

We're here for a vacation with another couple of friends. This restaurant was recommended to us and it was truly amazing. We started with some appetizers, which were delicious. Shakudry tray, with great prosciutto, ham, hard cheese, soft cheese and Girkin pickles. Ceasar salad, Soo good! (and we try the Ceasar salad everywhere we go) then for our main course we each chose a different dish and everyone absolutely LOVED their meal. I enjoyed the perfectly seared sushi grade Tuna with a soy reduction sauce and mashed potatoes, my hubby John had the fall off the bone "so tender!" he said, ribs with roasted potatoes, my girlfriend Marni had the daily feature, pesto gnocchi "it was amazing' and her husband, Doug loved his seafood linguine. All pasta is authentic from Italy, Andrea, the owner came out to check in on our dinner. What a great young man. Kept the restaurant going though COVID-19. Found ways to earn money by cooking for private yacht tours. His love of food is apartment with each bite,. Now even growing some of his own veggies and herbs the flavors of Italian cooking are truly amazing. We would highly recommend it to everyone. Priced reasonably for Antigua standards. Beautiful atmosphere right on the water. Very friendly staff always smiling. Akim was our server and was great 👍 We will be back!

Just got back from a really great meal here - really great spot right amongst the marina with a great view over the water. The restaurant's spacious dining area emits enticing aromas of spice blends from the kitchen, and the friendly staff warmly welcome guests. While waiting for a table, patrons can enjoy drinks at the bar or relax in one of the outdoor courtyards.
I went with a pretty large group and we had a great time. The team led by Vinny were very friendly and provided excellent customer service. I love that they are quick to make great recommendations for dishes, if you're unsure. I had the garlic naan with cheese, the mixed grill platter and a shrimp friend rice with egg and veggies... it was soo delicious. I would say that all the dishes can be shared amongst two people, it is all so filling! Other people in my party had a variety of dishes and all the reviews were positive!

What a gem of a place - great service and stunning food in a beautiful location. Also great value - highly recommend it if you like curry. It is a proper Indian and so, unlike the majority of UK curry houses which are Bangladeshi, a lot sweeter but still hot enough for even the madras plus foodies!
Paul A — Google review
Some of the very best Indian food I have had anywhere in the world so far. Stunning views over Falmouth Harbour enhance this almost ‘painted picture postcard’ view. The good selection we had was melt in the mouth good. A selection of prawn tandoori, shish kebab, chicken rogan josh, peshwari & plain naans were utter perfection and the mushroom rice was delicious & light. The only thing I would ask for that they didn’t have was fresh onion salsa for the popadoms. Can’t believe I’ve waited soo long to experience Indian Summer, I will be recommending it to as many people I know. Thank you.

We came here for vegan food as we had read on Google that they could accommodate it. It was absolutely worth it... It was incredible!!! Raj was an amazing host and made some dishes especially for us, taking into account what we like and dislike, even making us naan bread. We also had a cocktail whilst watching over the harbour as the pelicans flew around 😊 As people who come from an incredibly vegan city in the UK we struggled a bit in Antigua, but Indian Summer was a refreshing find ❤️

Amazing! The food and the view were some of the best we have ever had. We like spicy with a little bit of sweet. We got the shrimp in coconut sauce and the chicken vindalli and mixed them together as we ate. Wow. One of the best meals ever. This ranks up there with the Michelin Star Restaurants we have been to. Loved it.

We felt welcome and well cared for here. The food was far better than typical Caribbean fare and the portions generous. Drinks were creative with balanced flavors. You will pay a little more than you might be used and it's worth it.

We absolutely loved this place! The music and fun vibe pulled us in. Sat up at the bar and had great service and amazing food! One of my favorite places in Antigua. Special deals every day of the week. The char and spices on the chicken was perfect. The salad and light salad dressing paired well with the chicken and ribs. Either make a reservation or show up close to when the restaurant opens.

It was a really busy night and we didn't have reservations but they accommodated our party of 4. Food came out in good time and it was delicious. That night was Ribs Night so we had 1.2lbs of ribs each. Yum.

Unexpected great place. Found them accidently walking through paid attention on grilled chicken. Amazing dishes, great serving, big in size, good prices, friendly and caring staff, variety of alcoholic cocktails, beers and nice coconut crush. Mostly should be reserved in advance but we were lucky to get there without it. Ordered beer and coconut crush, half chicken in hot peri-peri sauce, medium rare beef barbecue served on plate with hanging hook. We were so full this evening. It cost us 168 caribbean $ ( about 60 usd). Cards are only Visa or Mastercard. SouthAfrican guys were nice and very attentive. Regreted that did not try their lobsters which looked so yummy on neighbor's table.

10$ USD entrance I went on a reggae Thursday, the food line takes about 20-30 minutes but it’s actually very good. Highly recommend huge vibe with a great view of the bay

We really enjoyed! Real oven-fired pizza, delicious. We had the ham and pineapple one night (don’t judge, it was great!), and returned on our last night and tried the jerk chicken pizza, both excellent. Pitcher of sangria was perfect and had me glad we were walking! Great music, friendly staff. I’m not great with really spicy food, staff were super accommodating offering to have the chef go easy on the jerk. Sorry, no pics of the pizza itself, we ate before we remembered…

I’d give 5 stars if the pizza came earlier than expected. We waited about an hr and pizza didn’t come to our table. We walked out obviously v unhappy customers. Boss and staff accommodated us with apologies and took all complaints professionally. Thank u for looking after us well. Staff were great and pizza were delicious 👍

Went here 2 nights when we changed our choice for the another day. The pizza was good. The server (the same both days) was great and super friendly. The pitcher of sangria is heavy on the peach schnapps and will knock you on your a**. So yes, order it.

Went after a truly disappointing dining experience at the (want to be fancy but oh so overpriced) Five senses restaurant. They saved our evening with a delicious pizza. Staff was friendly, Pizza was good! Fun place to be. We did half jerk half cheese. There are many tourist traps in the area, this place is a good option.

Literally couldn’t leave the house but was starving; it’s PPT ‘Paparazzi Pizza Time’! Yeap even delivered by taxi, a nice Pepperoni with mixed salad, simple but tasted good.

Service was good. Ambiance still nice. I like the fact that the kitchen closes late. Cocktails were ridiculously overpriced and I was able to literally COUNT the number of shrimp on a 10" pie. 5 shrimp which is less than one shrimp per slice. Very disappointing. The other pies were better. I MAY return after much contemplation.

What a wonderful spot. Fantastic delicious pizza 🍕 many locals come here. We had a reservation and would recommend it. The place was full! The pizzas are absolutely amazing. The pizzay come personal size, but they are generous portions. We had leftovers for the next day. Great staff and owners. Our firends have met them a week before. We are so impressed we are going back! Great bar tenders. Very accommodating. We loved it. Of you are in English harbor, you should eat here at least once.

One of the better pizzas I've ever eaten! Base was great, topping were fresh. Tomato sauce base was just right. Quick service, reasonable price for where it is. Wish I was here another night so I could take one away with me! It is very loud on a Saturday night though - don't expect to be able to have a conversation. Maybe during the week it's a but quieter.

Lovely decor and vibe, but the food is distinctly average Italian. We had some excellent mussels and disappointing octopus to start, followed by some very bland sesame tuna and mediocre pasta (effectively cut-up tuna in a tomato sauce). The chef really needs to up his seasoning and usage of salt. Wine selection though was good and nice seating indoors and outdoors. Italian manager warmly greeted us and bid us farewell

This place was next to our hotel in English Harbor. Kept us up all night with unreasonably LOUD music. Place was empty but they still kept playing loud music. Damn the neighbors. Literally until 5 am two nights in a row. Not cool at all. We were awake all night.

We came back to English Harbour for the holidays to find that this place has ruined the peace of Nelson’s dockyard by blaring music until 3am on weeknights and 4am on weekends. Better when it was just a restaurant.

Fraudulent operation. Beware. We went for NYE party having purchased $90 USD per person tickets that their Facebook advertising said came with free drinks all night (with reasonable restrictions). They refused to honor this and tried to fob us off with free tapas (we’d just come from dinner) and a $30pp bar tab. The proprietor repeatedly fobbed us off and tried to make his staff deal with it rather than take any responsibility for his false advertising or even admit he was the proprietor. We demanded our money back, though we didn’t get the sales tax back, and left. Had much more fun elsewhere. Be very careful if you go here.

Palo the owner is great, he reads the special menu of the day like an italian sonet . The food is delicious and the atmosphere fantastic what's not to like . go if you can.

V.C. Bird International Airport

International airport
Airport
V.C. Bird International Airport in Antigua is known for its relaxed and quiet atmosphere, making it a pleasant arrival point for travelers. The airport features helpful wheelchair assistance staff and multiple taxi options for transportation around the island. Despite occasional busyness, the airport maintains a clean environment with friendly staff members. Travelers may encounter short TSA lines and efficient immigration processes, although customs lines can be lengthy at times.
This is a nice Caribbean airport with efficient arrival and departure; we had no significant delays with either. Good food options by Gate 1 (though not exactly cheap). Really nice gift shop.

Seriously improved Executive Lounge at VC Bird International Airport in Antigua & Barbuda. The service has improved phenomenally; the welcome desk, the waiting staff, bar, food, out door terrace area, it’s all flowing much much better. Lovely, lovely staff that serve you food rather than the old style ‘help yourself buffet’.

This airport is very clean. Moves pretty fast and easy to navigate. They have restaurants once you pass security. I would’ve given it five stars however, I was unable to use my priority pass and go to the lounge as it was booked by a specific company and their employees. They weren’t letting other members in.

I visited Antigua this past week and was pleased with the state of this airport. It was very clean and most of the employees I encountered were friendly. Going through customs was quick and seamless as well as getting checked in and finding my gate. The decor was very island chic and lots of signage and Antiguan flags. Loved it!

✈️ V.C. Bird International Airport – Antigua & Barbuda 🇦🇬 ⭐⭐⭐⭐☆ (4/5) As someone who travels frequently through the Caribbean and often uses V.C. Bird International Airport while in transit, I’ve recently had the opportunity to fully experience the airport during longer stays in Antigua—and I must say, it’s been quite impressive. The airport is modern, exceptionally clean, and well-organized, which is always refreshing to see in the region. Though compact in size, the facilities are well maintained, and the staff—both at the counters and throughout the terminal—are friendly and helpful, creating a smooth experience from check-in to departure. That said, there are two key areas where improvements would elevate the experience even further: 1. Wi-Fi Access 📶: The airport offers 15 minutes of free internet, but the amount of personal information required to access it feels excessive—especially for a brief browsing session. In comparison to other Caribbean destinations where Wi-Fi is more accessible and less intrusive, this approach feels outdated and unnecessary. Antigua is a tourism-driven country; connectivity should be seamless and welcoming. 2. Immigration & Customs Forms 🛂: Many Caribbean nations have transitioned to digital entry forms, which help reduce paper waste and streamline the arrival process. It’s surprising that Antigua has not yet adopted this standard, and I hope to see this change in the near future. Additionally, for those arriving on smaller aircraft, be prepared for a bit of a walk to and from the terminal. While not a major issue, it’s something travelers should be aware of. Overall, V.C. Bird International Airport delivers a pleasant and efficient airport experience. With a few digital upgrades and more traveler-friendly Wi-Fi policies, it could easily become a standout hub in the region.

The airport needs a better speaker system. I could Hardly hear any of the announcements that they were making. Otherwise than that it’s always a great time coming back home. Until next time 🫡

A small but clean and modern airport, offering a good service with a reasonable number of shops and restaurants. Immigration can be a bit slow when dealing with large arrivals and departures.

Made it through immigration in about 20 minutes. The restaurants inside the place were pretty good. All the airport staff was helpful. Bathrooms were clean so we're the floors.

Pointe-à-Pitre International Airport

International airport
Airport
Pointe-à-Pitre International Airport, located in the western part of Grande-Terre near Le Gosier, serves the Guadeloupe islands. It offers a range of amenities including arcade games, shops, and eateries. Norwegian Air Shuttle provides low-cost connections to Fort Lauderdale from this airport. Despite some negative reviews, many travelers found their experience at the airport to be pleasant and efficient. The duty-free store offers a great variety of products including Longchamp bags.
I would give zero if I could. Regional section. Wi-fi exists but does not work anywhere. Before security cafe has machine latte that’s is weakest coffee anywhere. At security as I arrived I placed all items as they would order me to place it and yet the guard complained. What, I did it too good so she couldn’t yelled at me to do this or that so she still did. After security no place to fill water bottle and the only food place person told me to go to washroom to do it. Electrical Outlets did not work after security. Final stretch were bathrooms. Essentially I got impression that they care 0% about travelers.

Except for the lack of air conditioning at the Terminal 1 gates (landside, security, passport control and duty free all have aircon), this was an unremarkable airport experience. Not good, but not as bad as the other reviews depict. Security and passport control were well organised, the staff spoke clear English and both steps were done in under 20 minutes total. The toilets looked and smelled clean and were in full working order. There are just two very basic cafes airside, both serving exactly the same basic baguettes, cookies, muffins etc. There are no drinking water dispensers, but you can get 500ml bottles from two vending machines for €2.20.

This airport wasn't great, but it wasn't bad. Staff was friendly and we didn't have any issues finding people who speak English. We didn't have to fill out any paperwork and they didn't even ask us any questions. Boarding was well organized. Taxis are metered and marked so you won't get scammed. First time I was able to access airport WiFi. One terminal had comfortable lounge chairs, the other not so much which didn't make sense to me. I also didn't understand the point of having 3 different restaurants that are all serving the same thing. That being said, there were a few issues. The biggest was going through security. I was detained as they opened my backpack and took out and wiped all my camera equiptment and even my electricity converter. I've been to over 30 countries and never had any issues having camera equiptment in my backpack. Also, as some others have said, finding the counter for American Airlines, then figuring out where to go afterwards was a bit confusing. They don't tell you that when you enter the shop, there are TWO walkways. The other issue was the men's restroom in our terminal was closed. So in general, it was friendlier and less stressful then most airports, but it could be a little better organized and easier to navigate.

Embarrassing by EU standards. Approximately 1.5 hours to drop bags and clear passport control and security. Air France bag drop was reasonably efficient. Passport control is unbearably hot, but could be worse. Security is a joke. Like passport control it’s very hot. I have never seen such a slow rate of processing across 50+ airports I’ve travelled to around the world. Why it’s necessary to take my headphones out of my bag, and then the headphones out of their case is beyond me. You finally get through and there’s no where to refill water bottles (why the EU hasn’t made this a legal requirement is inexplicable and flies totally in the face of being ‘green’). There’s also not enough seats for everyone waiting for their flights. And don’t expect soap or toilet paper.

Annoying cramped airport. You get in the lobby and just one panel with flights is working. At the gates panels interrupt the flights table to show commercials so you are forced to watch them just to check again your flight. At the bar they could not care less to serve you. Also extra zelous staff that made me throw away liquids although they were below 100 ml and I came with them from Europe without problems.

Nice enough airport however the handicapped services are lacking significantly. Once we finally got to the wheelchair station the gentleman pushing the wheelchair ran my broken Ankle in to the wall and then the door! The security personnel have no idea how to communicate in English and could not understand that I could not walk through the metal scanner! The security scan area made me take every lenses out of my camera bag! Very strange security measure. The announcements for the flight were made in French only, even on American Airlines! When we went to ask the lady at the desk what she said she looked at my boarding pass and then gave it back, without a word.

Quite a new airport but very quirky; a few small things could make this the perfect place. Pros: new, nicely designed, and quite clean. Cons: Security took a long time for not that many people. Bathrooms in the regional terminal were almost all closed or broken. But worst of all and totally fixable: NO screens after security to show your boarding gate! We didn’t see our gate before security either so, like many others, aimlessly walked around in search of our gate. No desk staff to help either. Screens just showed ads… for the newly opened airport. Nicer new airports have gate info screens.

Incompetent people when it comes to check the plane outside and people getting the luggages on board of the aircraft.. severe delay because of them.. Flight towards Paris.. A shame..
