Heights and views beautiful. AVOID FOOD. Full tourist - calling that jerk chicken was a war crime. It’s roast chicken with a jerk sauce over it, served with chips. Service was glum: like I’d offended them in another life. Must go for the view, just don’t get hungry.

Shirley heights on a Sunday is a must! Don't drive...get there early if you want to get a seat. Even with the rain we managed to get a view of a beautiful sunset. The queues for the food are long so plan in advance so you dont miss the sunset as the place fills up pretty quick. The steel band were great and the rum punch was on another level!

Yes there is a fee to show up... Food and service is good. Definitely go on a Thursday or Sunday. Reggae Thursday is a vibe.

This a must visit spot on a Sunday. The vibes are definitely there - especially the sunset, the music is jamming with the steel pan and live music, food smells on the grill, & drinks are on deck(but byob to avoid the lines). Hire a professional driver to get there; unless you are comfortable with driving on the left side at night. Purchase your tickets in advance! The line for the food and drinks can get long during peak hours. Go early! Wear comfortable shoes. Ladies, leave the heels! You can end up straining an ankle if you are careful.

Very interesting historical site with several well preserved buildings, a small museum, harbour mouth fortifications and a hiking trail. The Copper & Lumber Store Hotel is a business on its own, but its possible to get inside and visit a part of it while walking around the dockyards. There are quite a few pretty boats to see as well, but I suppose that varies with who's visiting.

So much history and beautiful views while on Antigua. The Nelson's Dock Yard is a must visit when on Antigua We took a tour bus with a knowledgeable guide to the dock. A great bar and restaurants are here too.

Beautiful. Amazing culture to be found and we found wonderful restaurants, Pillars and Boom Hotel. This place was amazing even in the quiet season. I dont think we'd have got a seat in high season so we were very lucky to go at the time we did

A definite to visit whilst in Antigua - completely restored world heritage site with good facilities, restaurants and stalls. $15 US entry fee per person.

It is $15 US to enter. However, this grants you access to four places in the area which is worth it (15 minute movie on the history of Antigua, Shirley Heights). The Dockyard has a museum and it looked like a restaurant that was empty when I visited. Not much boats were there at the time. Parking is available.

This is a great spot to learn about the island's history and check out artifacts or relax and stroll the property and view the Harbour with the boats. Great for all ages

Interesting UNESCO world heritage site that is worth a visit of you're on Antigua. While well maintained, all the buildings bar the museum shop are used by local businesses, so it's not like you can wander around inside any of them to soak up the history, which is a shame. It's also a working harbour and marina, so the luxury yachts are also nice to look at, though their prescence has pushed up the prices in the local restaurants. Plenty of parking in the lot before you enter the dockyard, and the ticket price includes a visit to Shirley Heights, which is a great look out point to see some great views of the island. There are some walking trails up to a few ruined forts and down to pigeon beach if you don't mind walking an hour or two in the heat.

Really awesome beach if you want to feel the local vibes off-season. Great mountain views, nice cool water, birds chiping, all nice vibes. You have to find shade though, sun too hot! A lot of trees around, accompanies withe beautiful smiles from the locals.

Absolutely amazing beach. Great for snorkelling and sea turtles!! We kayaked here from our hotel. Quite, deserted Island feel!!

I wouldn’t go out of my way to visit again. Just a few local men wandering around asking for beer. The beach was nothing special.

I have been to so many beaches as I did a lot of island hopping. By far, this is the best beach ever. Walking distance from the yacht club where we stayed. The amazing water glass effect, small waves which is great for kids and adults. Warm water and shallow too in some parts. When you are in the water, trust me, you dont want to come out. Best thing too a lot of shady trees where u can sit for a picnic and long stretch white sand beach for good exercise. Easy parking. Restaurant available although I didn’t try. Down side is no toilet. Spectacular 🥰

This beach is 10/10. Water and sand is perfect. No waves. Super easy to swim in. We went on a Sunday and really only got kinda full towards the end of the day. Nice mix of locals and vacationers. The beach is super clean. Basically no litter which is nice! There is also a nice mix of shady and sunny spots so it’s really lovely to spend the entire day there like we did. Hot tip: bring snacks, water and a good book and settle in for a yummy relaxing day at the beach!

THE ABSOLUTE BEST BEACH ON ANTIGUA!!! The water is always crystal clear! There is a lot of shade and comfortable nooks for families to set up a perfect all-day session! There are also restroom and shower facilities and, on any given day you can literally swim out and touch a beautiful yacht! Great for an early morning swim, evening swim or just a great time at the beach! Wonderful beach! 😊🎉

Nelson’s Dockyard is a wonderful & historical day out. A must do when in Antigua & Barbuda. Be dropped off and wonder around at your leisure.

Whilst the dockyard has been restored, apart from the museum, the rest of the buildings have been given over to shops and restaurants, there's no recreation of the dockyard as it once was. And you have to run the gauntlet of cheap souvenir sellers on the way in & out. Your ticket also covers you for Dow's Hill, which has a small montage/show and Shirley Heights, both of which have excellent views.

The museum is a great stop on your visit to the Nelson’s Dockyard. The Gift Shop inside has a number of unique souvenirs.

Very interesting small museum - the whole dockyard is fascinating

Went for a day trip while on the cruiser. 15 usd per person each way, local taxi. The beach is beautiful. It is more for people who like snorkelling, and not for those who like standing and walking in the sea… the thing is - it is full of corals, so you shouldn’t be stepping around really. We saw a lot of fish, some yellow and red corals. We snorkel towards the left side (as if you are going to Mermaid Garden Rock Pool). I liked that no one bothered us with anything, we could be completely alone, and do whatever we liked.

Lovely beach at ot near the end of a few hiking trails. We went here immediately after a hike on two occasions and it was very refreshing. The beach access is saddled between two resorts, which can sometime make find a parking spot a bit difficult.

Pretty and clean beach conveniently located near the Nelson Dockyards, the Pillars of Hercules, the trail to the Mermaid Gardens, etc. There are some nice spots for snorkeling further down.

We spent a few hours here enjoying the beach away from the crowd. Nice beach. Almost got to see a sea turtle if the water had been clearer.

A beautiful beach although not the white sanded variety you find on the west coast. Having said that, the snorkelling was better than we have experienced on other beaches, and we did see a turtle pop its head out of the water although it swam off pretty quickly when we tried to join it! If you’re in to snorkelling, follow the ridge of rocks along the shoreline and you’ll see a few different varieties of tropical fish hiding underneath. There’s a sunken galleon by the rocks at the entrance to the bay. We watched a group led by a guide swim out to it, but I don’t think I’d have the confidence to do it by myself. Sun loungers were in 2 locations: one outside the hotel at one end of the beach - we were told that we couldn’t rent these as non-residents. So we walked to the other end of the beach to the other sun loungers to be told that they weren’t open until the following day. After a bit of bartering however, we were allowed to rent them for 100 ECD for the day for 2 (negotiated down from 180 ECD). We paid it but I did feel a bit fleeced! We visited in June and it was very quiet. All in all, a great beach with some added interest besides sunbathing.

our favorite beach on the island. if you go thru the trail on the left hand side of the beach (or swim past the rocks) you’ll end up at a secluded beach where there aren’t that many people with shading as well. the snorkeling there is great, there’s turtles, a shipwreck and loads of fish. for lunch there’s Loose cannon where the food and vibe are just awesome. There’s free parking if you buy drinks or food from the restaurants

Stunning Beach ! Galleon Beach is beautiful! The color of the water is bright and pretty; It’s also not very cold of a temperature in it. It is however rocky on the entrance of the water so you may need to consider that for kids. There is a beach bar on the beach (kinda pricey but good vibe) . On one end is also a high end resort and on the other end is a view right beneath Shirley Heights. There is a restroom on property as well. I saw groups of people snorkeling and having great fun and a few other water sports activities happening. I enjoyed it.

Very recommended easy walk from Galleon beach - don't make the mistake of climbing the high trail, follow the beach-level one. Once at the foot of the pillars, ensure that you go around the corner to get the full experience. It looks intimidating but those rocks are not all that slippery, and the barnacles help too. Do not wear flip-flops. Majestic.

I was able to pass by these pillars from my dive boat as we went diving really close to where these are located. I would recommend seeing this from the water if you are able, as the shore in front of them can be really short and dangerous if the water levels are high. These pillars are beautiful and a very cool site to be seen!

Take the trails. At the end of the trail you gotta walk around the corner on the rocks to see it if you went the same way we did.

If you are brave enough or you have a keenness for hiking don't be put off by those that tell you can only see them by boat. Just be careful as the trail is well kept. Beautiful spot for nice pictures

Took the route out to the Pillars via the beach, which was fine for me, but my partner was wearing sandals so she found it trickier. But 100% worth the trip in my opinion, it's such a cool spot, and so different to the rest of the island. Wish I had been able to spend more time here just relaxing, and I would have if it had been low tide!

The gps takes you to what is now a resort entrance. There is plenty of public parking though right next to a beautiful beach. You can walk right into this beach. There are two hikes right by this spot as well. The lookout hike is 1/2 mile long but very vertical, view was amazing at the top!

The hike from Galleon Beach to Carpenter's Rock through Pillars of Hercules was phenomenal. The most beautiful scenery and picturesque places to take photos. Highly recommend it.

Good place to learn about Antigua, past and present. A little dated, but charming, kid friendly and authentic. The views from this place are worth the trip alone.

We enjoyed great views of Antigua and the blue ocean from up here. We learned a lot about the history of the island and the people at the Interpretation Center that presented it all in an interesting theater format. Everyone was very friendly. We took a guided tour bus to get here Highly recommended!

The interpretation center joins the collection of Antigua national park sites that offers a great perspective of what the island nation has to offer. If you are looking for great views, some history, and a check off your bucket list, look no further than this awesome attraction! Don’t forget to stay for the presentation, as well as grabbing some views from the lookout. They should bring a restaurant here as well!

A lot of these photos are posted for the wrong location! Yes they are around the same area but not necessarily walking distances in this hot sun we have. The interpretation centre has been around since I was a child growing up. Whenever we have guests visiting from away we would take an Island Drive and end up at this place. The building itself is beautiful and it has a lot of interesting artifacts. The view from here includes Falmouth harbor, English harbor and Freemans bay. The show itself has not changed in years, with a few added extra video footage of recent carnival parades. The display desperately needs an update and the video and story line. Maybe one day!

Definitly a must to visit if you are in the area. One of the best view of the coast. Got a lot of instagram views from the reel I did over there.

It's a really great historical overview of the island and culture. The views are amazing. It's a great first stop before visiting English Harbor.

The view is stunning and there is even more! A nice little presentation about the history of Antigua guided by a very friendly staff member in an air conditioned room! There are some interesting (or disrupting) antennas up there too!
