Floresta das Escadinhas

$$$$cheap
Restaurant
Floresta das Escadinhas is a charming Portuguese outpost located on the outskirts of Alfama in Lisbon. This popular seafood restaurant is known for its simple yet delicious grilled meats and seafood, with a specialty in fresh sardines. The menu offers a few select dishes, including their renowned sardines and calamari. Diners can enjoy indoor seating or opt for a charming outdoor experience on the landing of the stairs between two buildings.
Excellent, authentic Portuguese fish experience! We had the chorizo appetizer, mixed meat, mixed fish and grilled squid plates. The fish is definitely the star! Great service and ambiance. We got there right at opening to get in with no reservation. Place filled up quickly, so if you don’t go right at open recommend a reservation.
Emma G — Google review
the best lunch place in Lisbon! everything was just great - the service was friendly and fast, even though we came just before closing; meat and sides were well made and well seasoned, fries looked homemade, salad was really fresh; then desserts - just incredible :)
Martha — Google review
Simple menu for seafood and meat. They got squid, cod, octopus, and sardines (their specialty). Sardines were well seasoned and the soup of the day was decent but wouldn’t get the soup again. Small place so reservations are recommended.
Mark C — Google review
In an busy tourist area where half of the menus are exactly the same, this place stands out as an authenticate experience. We got here halfway through the lunch rush so some items were sold out but they were up front about it prior to seating. We had the squid and sardines and thoroughly enjoyed it.
Dennis W — Google review
The food was excellent, especially the fish, but the service really let the experience down. We had to wait about 30 minutes at our table before anyone brought us even a glass of water, which came across as quite rude. Also, we sat at a table in the corner by the refrigerator & kitchen so had to move a few times to accomodate for staff moving things like baby strollers. This is the reason I subtracted 1-star from my review. This was our first Taste+ restaurant in Lisbon, and we ordered the mixed meat plate, mixed fish plate, a water, a beer, and a glass of green wine. The total came to around 45 €, which felt reasonable given how good the food was—if only the service had matched it.
Dr. D — Google review
The fish was very fresh and well prepared. I especially recommend the mixed fish platter — a nice variety and everything cooked just right. Service was good and the atmosphere pleasant.
Ellen D — Google review
We came to this restaurant directly after arriving in Lisbon because we had checked the great reviews and we were definitely not disappointed! We got some appetisers and also tried the squid and the octopus and both tasted amazing! We also had a bottle of green “vinho da casa” which was refreshing and exactly what we needed on a hot summer day. The pricing was also great, since we paid 40€ between the two of us for what was definitely fresh sea food. Special kudos to our waiter, Augusto, who took amazing care of us. He was extremely polite, friendly and attentive and took really good care of us, making the whole experience even more memorable. I’d definitely recommend this place!
Chris K — Google review
This restaurant is primarily a fish store, and they truly shine when it comes to seafood. We tried the octopus and grilled squid, both of which were absolutely delicious. However, the dishes are salted, so if you’re not a fan of salt, be sure to ask for no salt when ordering. On the downside, the ribs were disappointing—the meat was undercooked by my standards. That said, the service was excellent. You don’t need a reservation, though we arrived a few minutes before their opening time at 12 and got a seat without any trouble. Overall, a great spot for seafood lovers, but I’d skip the ribs.

Frade dos Mares

$$$$affordable
Seafood restaurant
Restaurant
Nestled in the heart of Lisbon, Frade dos Mares offers a contemporary twist on traditional Portuguese seafood, with an impressive array of octopus dishes that are simply irresistible. This charming eatery has become a go-to spot for both locals and visitors alike, especially during the summer months when you can enjoy your meal al fresco. The ambiance is intimate and inviting, making it perfect for a delightful evening out.
Wonderful. This restaurant is a little hidden due to the construction around the area. As a group of anything over 4, you should go in person to make a reservation as it is always busy. We had a group of 5 and it was the best overall food and experience we have had yet. The octopus, steak, and fish of the day were highlights. The service was great and the desserts were a great way to cap off the experience. 10 out of 10 would recommend.
Phil O — Google review
Exceptional service at this restaurant serving delicious, authentic dishes in an elegant but relaxed setting. Every dish we ordered was outstanding, particularly the richness of the garlic prawns and tenderness of the bacalhau, and the staff, including Wiki, went above and beyond to make sure we were welcomed and comfortable. Like previous reviews mentioned, reservation is absolutely necessary as they had a full house the night we dined here and turned away people reservations. The facade was currently covered by construction at the time so a little hard to find. Definitely recommend for a slightly finer but by no means uptight experience of classic Portuguese dishes!
Edith E — Google review
Great recommendation, it’s a bit hard to find at the moment because of the construction. Our uber left us across the road and it was not obvious that you could get to the other side of the giant hole. But glad we figured it out. Reservations are necessary for the most part. We had some great fresh fish, clams and mussels and would recommend the fish of the day and the shrimps in particular. Service was super attentive. Do go find this place.
Aoife D — Google review
Hello travellers, This is an exceptional restaurant. From the food, to the service, to the attention to detail. We were made so welcome by Waqas (Micky) - honestly have never experienced so much effort in service lately. We were shocked at how much he knew and how much he cared about us and our experience. The octopus is 10/10. The ravioli was scrumptious. The prawns starter was so well proportioned and so tasty. Honestly just a big round of applause for the restaurant! Micky deserves so much praise he was so busy and still so caring.
Hana Z — Google review
Love this restaurant! The waiters and staff were very attentive and the food was excellent. Everything we ordered was perfect. The garlic shrimp was perfectly cooked and sauce was tasty. Perfect for dipping bread into and we ate every single bit of it. The highlight was the tuna ceviche. Some of the best ceviche I’ve had in Europe (and I’m Peruvian so I’m very critical on this topic lol). As our mains, I ordered the steak and my cousin ordered the octopus. Both were excellent! We ended the meal with cheesecake. Perfect dining experience !
Gaby A — Google review
Best damn octopus in Lisbon — tender, smoky, cooked like someone actually cared. No gimmicks, no overthinking, just perfection on a plate. You taste the sea, the sun, and a little attitude in every bite. If there’s better, I haven’t met it — and I’ve looked.
Amiel B — Google review
Food: 10/10 The clams sung through as they were beautifully highlighted with white wine, a touch of garlic flavor, not over powering and lots of butter flavor and my personal favorite part a bit of lemon grass which perfectly complimented the clam flavor. The octopus was the best I've ever had, the outside was crispy and had a beautiful grill flavor and the inside was soft, simple and delicate flavors. Price: 7/10 Price was a bit on the higher end but well worth it Service: 10/10 Very attentive and kind and they gave us free ginja at the end! Very friendly and willing to please.
FloppyFroggie — Google review
Came here in 2019 and again in 2025. It is as good as I remembered it! Highly recommend because the service and the food were so good. Get the risotto and the clams!

Come Prima

$$$$affordable
Italian restaurant
Restaurante Come Prima is a renowned Italian restaurant located on Olival Street near the Museum of Ancient Art in Lisbon, Portugal. The cozy and romantic ambiance, along with its attentive staff, provides a welcoming setting for diners. The restaurant is famous for its skillfully prepared traditional Italian dishes, including freshly made pasta and risotto as well as award-winning wood-fired pizzas with high-quality ingredients. It's a must-visit spot for those who appreciate imaginative Italian cuisine in an inviting atmosphere.
We had dinner at Come Prima twice during our stay in Lisbon, and both experiences were exceptional. The Italian food was so good that we simply had to return. We tried the truffle pasta, pesto pasta, and a classic Margherita pizza—each dish was rich in flavor and beautifully prepared. For dessert, we enjoyed the tiramisu and panna cotta, both of which were absolutely delightful and the perfect way to end the meal. The restaurant has a warm, welcoming atmosphere, and the service was top-notch. José, our server, was fantastic and spectacular - he took the time to explain each dish in detail, making our dining experience even more memorable. Come Prima is truly a gem in Lisbon, and we highly recommend it!
E W — Google review
Picked this restaurant because it was near to our hotel and the photos looked good. We were not disappointed. Thankfully we made a reservation because the restaurant was busy and we likely would not have been seated without a reservation. We arrived a few minutes early and were seated immediately on the second floor. The restaurant has a traditional, cozy vibe. It appears like it used to be a home which gave it charm. The menu, like many in Lisbon, was a QR code, so you need a phone or tablet. The waiter walked us through the menu talking about the house made pasta and truffles. It was a traditional arrangement like you often find in Italy with antipasto, primo, secondo, insalata, zuppa, and dolce. There was also a curated wine list and each menu item came with a suggested pairing. We ordered the lasagna and the tagliatelle with mushrooms and black truffles. Both dishes were delicious. My colleague order a cocktail made with port wine and a had a glass of red based on a recommendation from our waiter. Our experience was superb and would definitely recommend this restaurant if you are looking for an excellent meal.
Rob T — Google review
My wife and I really enjoyed our meal and experience here! The space is rustic, comfortable and very authentic. Our servers were some of the best we have had, so friendly and attentive. And the food was delicious as well. We started with the bruschetta con pomodoro e basilico, eggplant alla parmigiana and the wood-fired mushrooms. All 3 were really fantastic, with the mushrooms being our faves. These staters were the best part of our meal. We then opted for the trio of homemade pasta (for 2 persons). It included ravilois with spinach and ricotta; tagliatelle w/ mushrooms and shrimps; and a ragu of veal and black alentejo acorn pork. All 3 were good, the tagliatelle was our fave. They have such a great menu we would definitely come back again. Go!
John H — Google review
This place was so good we came twice in one week! Hands down one of my fave experiences in Lisbon. Servers are so polite and actually like what they do! The menu is curated with so much intention. From the wine pairings to the beautiful poetic descriptions on the menu. (Whoever did that was a genius) Incredible atmosphere. Loving people. Can’t wait to go back to Lisbon again!
Yang Y — Google review
Amazing experience! This is for sure my #1 Italian restaurant in Lisbon! The food, the atmosphere, the staff everything was amazing! We were a group of three and tried the bruschetta with fresh tomatoes; a pizza, with handmade sauce; the sharing mix of pasta, with three different pastas; and the zabaione and tiramissu. We paid ~27€! The atmosphere is lovely, charming! Loved it!
Ana P — Google review
Delicious food with great service by our waiter Shekhar. Food came out very promptly, menu and wine selection was great. Our favourite Italian restaurant in Lisbon so far! Thank you Come Prima!
Andrew — Google review
We were looking for a place we could walk to from our hotel and discovered Come Prima. What a wonderful find! The food was outstanding and the service was impeccable. Highly recommend for a meal or two while you are in Lisbon.

Zenith

$$$$affordable
Brunch restaurant
Breakfast restaurant
Zenith is a trendy restaurant known for its all-day brunch and cocktails in a chic setting with exposed brick walls. It's a beloved independent chain with locations in Porto, Madrid, and Barcelona. The Lisbon venue near Avenida da Liberdade offers hearty brunch options like bowls, bagels, salads, and coffees throughout the day. With its cool and relaxed vibe, Zenith is popular among both locals and tourists.
I really enjoyed this place overall. The pancakes were delicious – fluffy and full of flavor. The coffee, however, was a bit disappointing: it tasted watery and lacked richness. That said, the staff was incredibly sweet and welcoming, and we had a great time hanging out here with friends. I’d still recommend it for a nice, cozy spot to relax😊
Alyonushka — Google review
I went there for a breakfast after friends recommended me this place. I had the eggs Benedict with smoked salmon. One of the best I ever had, nice sourdough bread and a amazing sauce hollandaise on top. The service was also very friendly and courteous. I enjoyed my breakfast very much.
Michael P — Google review
Had a fantastic Brunch at Zenith and absolutely loved it. Our service Prabhu was fantastic - kind, efficient, friendly, and welcoming. I ordered the Eggs Benedict with bacon and it was delicious. Nice soft poach with a runny yolk and the avocado was perfect. Would definitely come back here again.
Kevin K — Google review
Fantastic brunch! The staff were welcoming and courteous throughout my visit and the interior decor and overall atmosphere of the restaurant was relaxing. I ordered the Virgin Sangria to drink and found it crisp and refreshing for a humid Lisbon morning. For my breakfast, I ordered the Shakshouka. My lovely waitress suggested adding mushrooms and spinach… honestly whatever the waitstaff suggest or recommend, just do it. It’s delicious! The portion was quite large and one could definitely share with a second person, but I was delighted to leave with a full stomach. Thank you to the lovely Zenith team for providing a wonderful dining experience!
Kathleen — Google review
I recently dined at Zenith and had a wonderful experience! We ordered the banoffee pancake and shakshuka, both of which were absolutely delicious. The pancakes were perfectly fluffy and the banoffee flavor was spot-on, while the shakshuka was rich and flavorful (veggie and vegan option available), making for a satisfying brunch. A special shoutout to Prabhv, our server, who provided friendly and attentive service throughout our meal. Overall, I recommend Zenith for a delightful brunch in Lisbon.
Ma K — Google review
Fantastic brunch place with some really good options. Their signature bagel is amazing but everything looked absolutely delicious. The service was also very friendly and the only negative I'd have to point out is that I had to wait for a table despite having a reservation. But overall the experience was great and highly recommended.
Hugo C — Google review
service and atmosphere are really good, but the food wasn’t the best for the price we ordered the Eggs Zenith with smoked salmon, the Bacon & Eggs Bagel and the Mixed Berries Pancake both not very well plated and not very easy to eat. I would just order the Eggs Benedict since the breaded eggs are very dry and taste like just over fried and the egg inside isn’t poached anymore. the Bagel was very hard and everything was way too sweet including the pesto. The pancakes were fine but overall way too sweet
Rafael P — Google review
Came here for brunch midweek, got seated right away and we were lucky to have David as our server, he was very kind and made our experience great! the iced caramel coffee with oat milk was delicious, I got the zenith bagel, and husband got the shakshuka and he enjoyed it! Great options for everyone!

A Cultura do Hambúrguer

$$$$cheap
Hamburger restaurant
"A Cultura do Hambúrguer" is a laid-back restaurant in Lisbon known for its tasty burgers, fries, and classic fast foods. Despite its small size, the restaurant offers a cozy space with beautiful ambiance. It used to be a tea house but has now transformed into a burger joint while maintaining its classic decor. The menu includes beer, sangria, and creative cocktails to complement the delicious food offerings.
Maybe we weren't being good tourists, but we just were in the mood for a burger while in Lisbon. We discovered this place online and decided to give it a try. Wow! Delicious! The burger was perfectly cooked on a nice fluffy bun. Different burgers come on different color buns, which was kind of fun. There are some unique toppings that, as an American, I wouldn't have thought of. I decided to go with their #1 seller. (It was listed on the menu.) My husband got the BBQ one. We were both super happy with our choices. The fries were also good with some garlic mayo for dipping. We also split a salad. The berry lemonade was also quite unique and refreshing. This should be a definite stop while you are in Lisbon.
Ken P — Google review
Yeah it was really good. Nice vibe and staff were friendly and fun as we sat at the bar drinking cocktails, free chips and then the burgers watching a Porto cup game while the World Cup was going on.
Sandip G — Google review
We went there, hyped for the restaurant's sandwiches and burgers, thanks to a foodie recommendation. As soon as we walked in, we realized the atmosphere was spectacular—lots of people, everyone enjoying themselves, and the food service was incredibly well-organized. The burgers were quite special, with good quality meat and a remarkable flavor. The sauces were carefully crafted to match the flavor of each dish. I would definitely recommend this burger joint, it's a must in your foodie route.
Mauricio G — Google review
Absolutely delicious hamburger (New York) I’ve never tasted a better mousse. The kindness of the waiters, the service, the ambiance, the music… everything deserves a perfect score!
Nataša V — Google review
From the outside, you'd never guess what awaits inside — a burst of colour, sound, and seriously good vibes. We were greeted with a super cool, chilled welcome that set the tone perfectly. We ordered the Old School smashed burger with fries, plus drinks — a mixed berries lemonade for my daughter and a local IPA for me. The fries arrived on a slate dish with a generous serving of garlic mayo — absolutely delicious. Then came the burger in a brioche bun, served in a little basket. And wow — just wow. Juicy, full of flavour, with incredible texture. Halfway through, I was already thinking about ordering another. By the end, I was full... but totally satisfied. To finish, we shared a Key Lime pie (we got stuck in before the photo) — sharp, creamy, and the perfect end to the meal. Would I recommend it? Absolutely. Will I be back? Without a doubt. My daughter and I loved it. A hidden gem that totally delivers.
Jeremy D — Google review
Maybe the best tasting and innovative burger! Also the home made mayonase with the fries was very good! The place was good looking.

da Prata 52

$$$$affordable
Portuguese restaurant
Da Prata 52 offers excellent service with attentive and friendly servers who are knowledgeable about the menu. Diners have the option to freely order or choose two half-portioned dishes per person, allowing for a variety of flavors to be shared. The seafood dishes such as codfish, shrimp, scallops, octopus salad, and garlic shrimp are highly recommended for their freshness and delicious flavors. The tapas are described as phenomenal and worth the wait.
What a wonderful experience on our last day in Lisbon! At first, we thought they were closed. But then one of the staff came out to greet us and explain the menu to us. It was important to them that we understood how it works and we were excited for the experience! The staff was so attentive and personable, speaking English and Spanish as well. The food came out quickly and was so delicious. All the ingredients were disclosed to us beforehand, and everything was exquisite. If you are looking for a quick lunch, are picky, or are someone who typically asks for substitutions, etc., this is not the place for you. This is for someone who is respectful of traditions, culture, what the restaurant has to offer, and open to experience. Order the octopus risotto, goat croquettes, and the venison (tastes like steak!) Note that there is a 2 tapas/dish per person minimum. It was so worth it for 3 of us to share 6 different dishes! Our bellies were full and content!
Twisted M — Google review
The staff was wonderful! All the food was delicious! Even with it being a tapas place, (small plate) there was so much good food! We had the shrimp in garlic, the sausage that was grilled at the table, swordfish and a battered vegetable dish.
Kathlene M — Google review
We have some gluten sensitivity and this place has plenty of gluten free entrees. We came by for dinner around 9 pm and we only had to wait for our table for ~10-15 mins. Some people wrote that this place was touristy. Yes, there was not any locals eating there. But who cares? The food was great! We had eaten in more touristy places than this and the food in other places were not good! We had our best meal so far here. I love the fact that the staff explains the food to you.
Shinta S — Google review
I loved the Portuguese sausage, sardines. Chicken and potato were plentiful and game croquettes unique. Red amber ale was amazing. Service excellent. Quite expensive but a unique experience.
G K — Google review
Hands down the best meal we had. Stumbled upon this place and are so glad we did. Don’t let the rope across the door fool you. They are open. The door guy lets you in once he explains how it works- it’s a tapas style restaurant with a minimum order of 2 plates per person. They are portioned right so it is not too much. You are satisfied, not stuffed. We ordered the fresh scallops, the goats meat croquettes, the octopus risotto and roasted veggies. Ended with a chocolate mousse dessert. Everything was so incredibly good. Don’t make substitutions- just order what’s there and let them explain it all to you. The flavors are incredible. We are very likely to return tomorrow on our last night here. I don’t think any other restaurant could compare! (The scallops had 3- just a little late taking a photo )
Allison L — Google review
A wonderful experience. An original and interesting concept, a superb combination of ingredients, meticulous explanations of the dishes to clients and a reverent approach to their own cuisine. A cozy space close to the center, definitely worth a visit.

For the last night of a trip to Portugal my boyfriend and I decided to eat here and we were SO HAPPY WE DID! The food was absolutely amazing, the wine was good, the service was exceptional, and the vibe is perfect. Every staff member working was a pleasure, some of the best service we had in Portugal, and their knowledge of the menu is top notch. Highly recommend the duck breast and the fried chicken, however the beetroot risotto was delicious! We do recommend making some time, it’s small so there seemed to be a constant wait for a table, yet we never felt rushed. Absolutely would dine there again!
Danielle H — Google review
This restaurant is a must-visit for food enthusiasts who appreciate a sophisticated dining experience. The staff is friendly and welcoming, creating a cozy and warm atmosphere despite its relatively small size. The decor and layout contribute to the inviting ambiance.

The food here was absolutely delicious and the service was truly exceptional! I ordered the prawn biryani and it was hands down some of the best I’ve ever had. The staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome—they were incredibly friendly, attentive, and genuinely seemed to care that we were enjoying our experience. We were pleasantly surprised when they brought out complimentary starters, which were just as flavorful and well-prepared as the main course. From start to finish, everything exceeded our expectations. Highly recommend this place if you’re looking for amazing food and top-notch service!

Restaurant
Rosa Dos Ventos is a charming Portuguese seafood restaurant with quirky decor and beautiful ceramic tiles. They offer a wide variety of fresh seafood, including octopus, shrimp, and grilled fish prepared using traditional techniques. The owner takes pride in sharing the history of the place and offering the freshest fish of the day. The ambiance is cozy, making it a great spot for an authentic dining experience with friends or loved ones.
An amazing little restaurant, off the beaten track. Clearly all home made and reasonably priced. Pictured is the Red Snapper, which came with perfectly cooked new potatoes and a salad. Accompanied with a bottle of house Green wine in a very smart frozen jug. Afters was a generous homemade creme caramel, unfortunately so good we ate before I could take a photo - trust your imagination.

While visiting Nazare, found this highly rated spot. We couldn't figure out how to make reservation, so we arrived early before opening around 18:00 on Sunday. We where invited inside well before an official opening of 18:30. Restaurant is not big and tables are small. Not a huge selection of dishes, but everything is fresh and tasty. Unfortunately, no squid was available this evening, so we selected sardines, mixed salad, and clams. Bread, cheese, and olives were placed on the table without us asking. Not expensive and tasty. House green wine was served in a frozen clay pitcher. Delicious. Service was fast and friendly. For dessert we had Portuguese creme brulee and flan.

Had the absolute best fish of my life in Nazaré at this family-run spot! The owner and his whole family are involved, which makes it feel so warm and welcoming. Super friendly people and the food was just incredible. Definitely don’t miss the clams and the red snapper — both were out of this world! If you’re in Nazaré, this place is a must.

Absolutely delicious! There was a small waiting period to get in and it was well worth it. We ordered the suggested clams and salmon. More than enough food for 2 and one of the best meals we've had in Portugal. Highly recommend!

Fantastic grilled seafood! You can tell that it's extremely high quality, super well prepared and the decorations are very traditional. I loved the spot! A super traditional Portuguese seafood spot right next to the beach. Golden location! Definitely recommend this after the beach!

We went early for dinner. Fantastic food (we had the clams and the pork fillet), our young kids loved it too! Rice and potato chips were great too. Even though there was a queue forming outside to wait to go in, never felt rushed at all. the waiters and owner were friendly and patient. this all contributed to a fantastic authentic dining experience. 100% must visit for anyone going to Nazaré.

We visited a small, family-run restaurant in Nazaré, Portugal, specializing in fresh fish. The place was very cozy, with a warm, homely atmosphere and traditional décor that made us feel like we were dining in their home. We tried fresh swordfish and sardines and soup of the day— everything were absolutely delicious. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, making us feel like locals. We arrived around 2:30 PM and only waited about 10 minutes for a table. Service was quick and efficient. Highly recommended for anyone looking for an authentic local experience.

It’s the best experience about the atmosphere and really fresh dorado I’ve ever had 🙌 you get the feeling as you come visit an old Portuguese friend who lives in Nazare as well as his grandparents, who might created this restaurant. Top 🔝 but be carefull)) they don’t take cards) atm is close though

A Nova Estrela

$$$$cheap
Portuguese restaurant
Family restaurant
A Portuguese restaurant with delicious food and great atmosphere. The waitstaff is attentive and the service is great. It's ideal for a romantic evening out or a relaxing lunch.
While searching for authentic Portuguese food, we stumbled upon A Nova Estrela — and we’re glad we did. Even though the place was busy, the owner took the time to serve us personally, explain the menu, and share his best recommendations. The food was simply exquisite. We started with a fresh salad and then enjoyed two main platters, all at a very affordable price. The atmosphere was warm and comfortable, making the whole experience feel welcoming and genuine. Definitely a spot worth visiting for authentic flavors and friendly service!

One of mine and my family’s TOP meals in our whole week trip to Portugal. The food was insanely good!!!!!!! My hard to please dad literally could not stop mentioning how delicious everything was. The cod dish wasn’t something we originally ordered but the lovely lady (likely the owner?) kinda pushed it on us and we were sooooo happy she did. It was amazing and something we would have never thought to order for ourselves. It ended up being my dad and husband’s favorite dish. The servers were all super kinda especially considering I had a very loud and mischievous toddler at the table. He got a free little ice cream treat and it was so sweet! 10/10 would recommend to anyone looking for an authentic Portuguese dining experience!

We just discovered this hidden gem of a restaurant - truly a hole-in-the-wall spot you'd never know was here without Googling it. We ordered the octopus dish, mixed salad, mango mousse with espresso, while family members tried the shrimp salad and calamari. Every single dish was spectacular. The service was outstanding, and the staff made us feel like family. We're visiting from Canada and would love to come back here again. Highly recommend!

My experience here was excellent! I had the octopus and was delicious. We also had one of the best omelette of our trip. The owner told me it was fresh from the same morning ( true or not) it was fresh, tasty and tender. The owner is very charismatic, she can take the orders and even offer you an instant Polaroid picture at the end. Definitely a great memory in Cascais.

Just a short walk away from the centre where is crowded with tourist and eateries, is this awesome gem. The 5 star reviews do not lie. The owner was very hospitable and thoughtful. More importantly, being a restaurant, their foods were awesome! It felt like your friend’s mum cooked you a hearty meal at home. It is that good! Very soulful and tasty. Their Cod Gratinad is highly recommended. So are their garlic shrimps! We literally emptied every single plate brought before us. Just one thing to note, some with cash. They do not accept card payment. If I am ever returning to Cascais, I am definitely coming back here to eat again

Yummy and fresh! Soup of the day was a delicious bean and cabbage. Sea beam and octopus were perfectly cooked! Pineapple and coconut tiramisu was interesting good and cooked by one of the women there. Would highly recommend if you are looking for a reasonably priced restaurant with generous quantities!

The best part of this restaurant was the fact that the owner herself, serves you and talks to you. :) She has created a treasure. The food is authentic and tasty. We ordered the cod casserole dish with a Greek salad. The cod was a traditional dish that we hadn’t tried and I am glad we got it here. It was tasty and truly felt like a home cooked meal. We were offered to ordered dessert and then guided to the display case to pick one out of the MANY options. They all looked so so so good. We opted for the pineapple/coconut tiramisu. The dessert was seriously so GOOD!! A Nova Estrela is a must stop! Enjoy the tasty food and welcoming vibe. You even get a picture of you and your table with your check.

Amazing lunch! We had the fish (sea bream) of the day, octopus and cod with potatoes, along with a pitcher of white wine sangria. Everything was absolutely delicious. The sea bream was so fresh and well seasoned. The octopus was the most tender we ever had. Very reasonably priced for how delicious everything was. I also highly recommend the white wine sangria. It was refreshing and not too sweet.

Il Mercato

$$$$expensive
Italian restaurant
Il Mercato, located in Lisbon's Amoreiras district, is a popular Italian restaurant known for its authentic and delicious cuisine. The menu features twelve pizzas made with ancient wheat flour, resulting in a lighter and more easily digestible crust. Chef Tanka Sapkota combines Italian tradition with organic and DOP (Protected Designation of Origin) products to create both classic and special dishes like the seasonal organic fig pizza.
I really enjoyed my visit to Il Mercato. Although the restaurant was fully booked when we arrived, the staff were quick to help and managed to arrange a table for us within just five minutes. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout the evening, offering suggestions on how to structure our meal and keeping a cheerful attitude. We chose to share three pasta dishes, which were served divided onto individual plates, something we really appreciated instead of receiving full portions of each dish separately. Really recommend the truffle ravioli, that was great with generous amount of truffle and flavor. The dinner ended with a complimentary limoncello, which was a lovely touch. Great value for money, generous portions, and a very pleasant restaurant overall.

Lovely restaurant down an alley with a few others. A menu with focus - cheese and meat and pasta. There’s a salad or two and a couple of veal dishes, but otherwise it’s cheese and meat and pasta. Nothing wrong with that but it is not a full Italian menu with primi and secondi and contorni. We enjoyed everything we ate and the service was nice. Inexpensive wine and even a limoncello to wrap it all up. bolognese recommended along with … well everything we ate. Lots of pretty people on a Friday night (and then there was us. Hehehe) Grazie

We came for dinner at the start of our trip and then booked lunch on the last day because we just had to have more of their gorgeous pasta.😋 Service was top-notch. Quality of the ingredients too and lovely atmosphere and decor. Definitely one to book. 👌

Our first time here and it didn't disappoint! All the servers are friendly and attentive. Our pasta dishes were delicious and bigger portion than we expected. We added this in our favorite restaurant list. We'll surely be back.

Another great restaurant from Chef Tanka Sapkota! The freshness, flavory, the creamy textures and the best ingredients are all there! The room is well decorated and it includes a market with good quality Italian ingredients. The staff is friendly, although the service was a little bit slow. The prices are quite fare, tottaly worth it: we were a group of 4 and payed ~25€ each (without wine). We tried the focaccia with extra virgin oil; the bio burrata with black truffle; ravioli with pumpkin filling; tagliatelle with ragu and tagliatelle with mushrooms! Perfect pasta, perfect seasoning with different fresh herbs! For dessert we had the Nutella cheesecake and the classic tiramissu! All delicious! Totally recommend it 👌

We had a wonderful dinner at Il Mercato — a cozy and elegant restaurant with excellent service and an inviting atmosphere. Our family of four enjoyed every dish we ordered, but the highlight was definitely the pasta — rich, creamy, and full of flavor (see photo!). The staff were attentive and friendly, the wine selection was great, and everything came out perfectly prepared. It’s the kind of place where you can relax, enjoy good food, and have a memorable evening together. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Lisbon and looking for authentic Italian cuisine made with care and passion.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A Perfect Start to Our Trip in Lisbon We had dinner at Il Mercato on our first night in Lisbon and it was a fantastic experience. Set in a beautiful indoor open-air courtyard with both indoor and outdoor seating, the ambiance was charming and relaxed. The space doubles as a market offering homemade pastas, Italian meats, and cheeses — a lovely local touch. We started with warm homemade focaccia and olive oil, followed by a round of excellent cocktails — Negroni, Aperol Spritz, and other Mediterranean classics. The food was exceptional: veal ragu with tagliatelle, pasta pomodoro, veal cheek with polenta, linguine with seafood, tagliatelle with veal, mushrooms, and truffle, and the standout pasta carbonara, all delicious and clearly made with fresh, organic ingredients. A bottle of Douro wine paired perfectly with the meal. The service was attentive, friendly, and efficient, rounding out a wonderful evening. Il Mercato is a must-visit — simple, flavorful Italian fare served in a beautiful setting. A perfect way to start our journey.

Very nice Italian restaurant, one of the best in Lisbon! Large selection of delicious hand-made pasta, a lot of vegetarian options. You can ask for more healthy / less caloric variations: sem salt (no salt) or no olive oil on top. The waiters and staff are friendly and the atmosphere in the restaurant is very pleasant. Strongly recommend Il Mercato for both dinners for two and large family events!

Humberto Delgado Airport

International airport
Airport
Humberto Delgado Airport is a bustling international airport in Lisbon with two terminals and two runways. Travelers can easily access the city center via underground trains and buses. While Lisbon has become a popular destination, it still offers affordable options for those looking to explore its charm without breaking the bank. Visitors can enjoy staying in historic palaces or boutique hotels, exploring vibrant neighborhoods like Bairro Alto, and admiring the city's picturesque rooftops overlooking the Tagus river.
Awesome duty free specials, I got more than I probably should have. Great variety of food and drinks. General distribution of gates and check points very smooth and accessible. Well designed airport. Fresh food!

Lisbon Portela Airport is a good and functional airport, especially considering its central location. It’s easy to reach by Bolt or taxi, and Terminal 1 is well-organized. We flew with TAP and appreciated the mostly automated check-in process, which was fast and intuitive. Security staff were a bit unfriendly, but the wait was short – around 10 minutes. The duty-free area was clean, modern, and had a wide selection of shops and products. We visited the ANA Lounge, which is managed by the airport itself. It was extremely crowded and had long waiting times to enter, but once inside, it was spacious and clean. The airport in general was very full and clearly operating at or over capacity. That said, walking distances were reasonable, and the airport offers all necessary services for travelers. Like many major European hubs, Lisbon can experience delays due to air traffic control restrictions and high traffic volume. Overall, a decent and efficient airport with a good location, though not the most relaxing experience due to the crowds.

⭐⭐⭐ When your gateway to beautiful Portugal feels like organised chaos with a side of confusion Humberto Delgado Airport perfectly captures that "we're doing our best but also absolutely winging it" energy that somehow feels very Portuguese 🤷‍♂️ The terminal itself is decent enough, but the operational side feels like someone forgot to update the manual since 1995. Information displays are genuinely terrible - gate changes announced with all the advance notice of a surprise party, and good luck finding reliable updates about delays. The signage could use serious help too; navigating feels like a treasure hunt where X marks "maybe your gate is over there?" 🗺️ Security and check-in processes seem designed by someone who's never actually travelled. Queues snake around with no clear system, staff often look as confused as passengers, and don't get me started on baggage claim efficiency. The food options are overpriced airport standard, and finding a quiet spot to wait is nearly impossible during peak times. Portugal deserves better! Simple fixes: better digital information systems, clearer signage, streamlined processes. The country is magnificent - the airport just needs to catch up! ✈️

The airport is clean and easy to navigate. We went in via terminal two so it was modern and used the Ryanair express baggage drop off which worked well. The roads coming into the airport, especially the roundabouts are not for the faint hearted! Shout out to security who were brilliant with my three year old and the lady especially was so kind when she got a bit nervous after accidentally touching the sides of the Xray machine. They are the reason for the 5 stars! Once through security, passport (also very friendly) and out it to departures there is a good amount of seating and food options. TBH the food looks better than it tastes and of course you have to re-mortgage when buying for the family. When we went to the gate we found that we were delayed. There was not enough seating so we ended up on the floor with a small snack store for company. This would have lost them a star of it wasn’t for security. Overall it is clean modern and efficient.

Lisboa Humberto Internacional is what I would call an incredibly dense airport, but thats not a bad thing. When arriving from JFK, it is fairly easy to get to passport control. I arrived at a very good time; as a US citizen I was directed to a non-electronic line but it was faster than the brand new ""electronic" passport control line, and I was stamped very quickly. For departures, it's slightly more friction. Had one person try to ask me for money, and the initial bag check line really isn't marked well. You could accidentally enter it, or accidentally miss it after check in. Going through was very easy (DELTA reps were very nice in the morning) and I was able to use the new EU electronic passport control to get to my gate (though I still had to get stamped, which is perfectly fine.) My ONLY complaint is the duty free shops. The shops are incredibly dense before passport control, and look amazing, but I wanted to go to passport control first. At the gates, the shops are very bare. The single tabaco shop within the internacional "N" gates don't carry any Philip Morris IQOS devices, only the sticks, and very few cigarette options. Though my flight wasn't boarding for an hour, I didn't feel comfortable going out and back in just for the shops, as the line fills up very quickly, especially the inbound flights in the early morning it looked like. Overall, i would feel very comfortable flying out of LIS again.

How does this make sense for a major international airport to have this policy? US, UK, EU, and 4 other major passports can go through seperate custom gate but NOT if you travel with kids! We, Americans with US passports, landed 30 minutes early to wait in this unbelievably long line for 3-4 hours just because we travel with our kids!? There are only 8 custom stations for well over 600-700 people here. Are kids not welcomed here? How much more background check they can do on elementary-aged kids? I don't mind if everyone goes through the same line, but if there are priority lines for US and some passports, then there should be no discrimination of age. I even presented medical reason for 1 of the seniors in our group but they still made us wait. * Update: after over 3 hours of standing in line, the custom person didn't even look at our faces or electronically scan us or anything. He just stamped our US passports. This is absolutely utterly ridiculous disrespect of travelers' time. We will NEVER come back to this stupid airport after this trip. Also, the airport is small so there are buses taking between the planes and gates, take up to 15 minutes travel. And also, TapAir Portugal is not that great either. We only traveled with carry-ons, but on a transit flight from Lisbon to UK, the flight was full so they checked in our carry-ons. When we arrived, we waited for whole 1 hour to retrieve the luggage and there was absolutely no communication of any kind. Also, some more waiting for the bus to board that plane, everyone stood for 40+ minutes, also no communication. This is not a great first impression for the country. I come from a once "third world" country, and right now they do a better job than this.

✨ Lisbon Airport, or Humberto Delgado Airport, serves as a warm introduction to the vibrant culture of Portugal. Its design reflects a harmonious blend of modernity and tradition, making the journey through its terminals a pleasant experience. The airport offers a diverse array of shops and cafes, where travelers can savor a taste of local cuisine. Despite its bustling atmosphere, the staff maintain a commendable level of friendliness and professionalism, ensuring that your transition is smooth. With convenient transport links to the city, Lisbon Airport is a charming starting point for any adventure in this enchanting city.

A busy but pretty efficient airport. It only took us 1.5 hours to check in, organise tax refund, immigration, quick dinner and arrive the boarding gate.
