Le Jardin des Plumes

Haute French restaurant
Le Jardin des Plumes is a stylish hotel located in a 1912 manor house, offering free Wi-Fi, sprawling gardens, and a fine-dining restaurant. The property has been completely taken over by David Gallienne since early 2020. The interior architecture of the neo-Norman villa perfectly complements the elegant yet unpretentious cuisine offered by the chef.
Le Jardin des Plumes is a true gem in Giverny. The setting feels like a dream — a charming Norman house surrounded by gardens — while the cuisine is pure artistry: seasonal, delicate, and full of flavor. The service is warm and refined, making every detail unforgettable. A must-visit for anyone seeking beauty, taste, and soul in one experience.

September 2025, My wife and I experienced our first Michelin Star Restaurant. We only stumbled across this amazing restaurant whilst walking the streets of Giverny after seeing Monet’s Garden earlier that day. We were lucky as we didn’t book and just walked in. This restaurant has set such a high standard to our holiday I feel know one will beat. The sommelier really knew her drinks and I had the best Syrah I’ve had in years. Their food (the chef easily accommodated my wife’s allergy) and service was just amazing and we will definitely return when we are in the area next. However I will book to ensure a seat as I’m sure they are usually fully booked!

The rooms, food and staff were all really excellent. In the evening we had the tasting menu at the restaurant on-site, which was delicious and beautifully presented. And we opted for breakfast which was delivered to the room. We weren’t sure what to expect with the breakfast, but it was fabulous and we ate it on the little patio set.

Loved everything about this place. The room was amazing and thank you for upgrading us. The food in the restaurant was absolutely amazing. Sharp and well flavored. The whole staff was so attending. Best recommendations from the Danes🇩🇰

Dining at Le Jardin des Plumes was an absolute highlight of our trip. Every course was beautifully presented and full of flavor. The tasting menu flowed perfectly, with each dish thoughtfully balanced and paired with incredible local ingredients. It’s the kind of place where every detail, from the bread to the final bite of dessert, is done with care. A truly memorable experience! We’d return to Giverny just to eat here again!

Stupendous! A wonderful experience, it was one of the 2 best meals of my life. Artfully and beautifully presented, each course was exciting and delicious. Wonderful flavors, textures and surprising combinations made it a meal to savor.
Martha R — Google review
A real gem! I arrived early, before my room was ready; my luggage was taken care of and delivered to my room at O'Plum Art. The room was absolutely lovely. The food and the service in the dining room of Le Jardin des Plumes was excellent. Location is perfect - within walking distance of the town and the Gardens.
JoAnn S — Google review
The hotel is very modern, spacious and comfortable with some delightfully querky elements. The bedroom and en suite were both of good size, however, it would be better to have a proper chair at the dressing table, and the ensuite lighting is far too dim. You have to open the wardrobe door to use that light to see what you are doing. Our hostess was absolutely charming and so, so helpful a real star. She made our stay at the hotel really special. The gormet dinner at the Jardins des Plumes was wonderful and spot on for my lady's birthday celebration. With champagne aperitifs in the lovely garden. I would recommend both the hotel and restaurant to anyone going to Giverny, and would stay there again myself.

The hotel offers top-notch amenities including a heated pool, spa and wellness center, massage services, hammam, and even a casino. Guests can enjoy free WiFi access and private parking on site.
We have just had a most wonderful relaxing night of luxury. We only live 30 minutes from Forges-les-Eaux but it was the first time we had stayed at the hotel. What a fantastic experience. Everything was perfect. All the staff were so friendly and professional, the room was beautiful, the swimming pool and spa (where we enjoyed an exceptionally good massage) were first class and the buffet dinner and breakfast were delicious with so much choice. We will certainly be back. Un grand merci à tout le monde!

Restaurant Maximin Hellio

Mentioned on
2 lists
Fine dining restaurant
Restaurant Maximin Hellio is a prestigious dining establishment located in the heart of Deauville, offering an exquisite French culinary experience. With three Michelin stars, it has garnered acclaim for its innovative and sophisticated dishes. The restaurant provides a variety of dining options, from casual lunches on the Planches boardwalk to elegant gala dinners in a period setting. Chef Maximin Hellio showcases his expertise by highlighting the finest seafood and Norman ingredients through meticulously crafted and creative preparations with bold and precise flavors.
Where do I start with this place, myself, partner and twin boys visited this place as we were in France and wanted to experience a michelin restaurant as a family. We got the tasting menu and OMG, this has been the best food I've ever tasted and also the rest of the family tasted. Being a chef, I was told that unfortunately my food was no where near as good as this place. I can't even find words to describe the amaizing experience from start to finish. Food just kept coming and they must have known we were from Glasgow as an unlimited supply of the best corn bread served with 2 types of butter- sweet butter and seaweed butter- kept coming. Every single course was outstanding, and just kept getting better and better, and I knew we must have been in good hands being fed by a chef who has worked in the finest establishments, with the best chefs in France and he was at the helm, alongside his wife who i think ran front of house. The service was outstanding too. The attention to detail was incredible. It was a shame I couldn't try any wine as I was driving, hopefully I will be able to try the wine next time round. Maybe they will let me have some work experience in the kitchen, free of charge obviously? A stage, I'm sure they call it. I would love to complete my chefing by working in a michelin restraunt, I envy your skills, chef! Thank you for giving my family the most memorable food experience ever, I really can't believe we were so lucky to come to your restraunt. Outstanding
Jameel L — Google review
The menu is revealed seated. One is pleasantly surprised by so much imagination. A special mention for the shrimp broth with potato mousse stuffed shrimp. We also like the amuse bouche in a crab shell.
Karl — Google review
A place we were excited to try given its 1-star Michelin status... (as we love to experiences these types of restaurants.) Unfortunately, the experience was far from what we expected, especially considering the standards associated with Michelin-starred establishments. Our table was served by four different staff members, none of whom seemed to be on the same page. (No warm welcome, they seemed to be unhappy to serve our table). The service was chaotic, with cutlery being tossed on the table every time (literally!). It felt like a joke, as if they were provoking us. (See pictures) Every time a dish was served, there was little explenation about the food experience. In a place where the culinary experience is supposed to be a journey, this lack of communication left us feeling disconnected from the meal. At one point, they mistakenly set our table with cutlery for desserts and then had to awkwardly take them back—honestly, who expects three desserts at once right? The confusion continued when we ordered espresso. It's a basic coffee, yet the server seemed to not know what it was and served a regular coffee. To add to the chaos, our table wasn't cleaned between courses, leaving us surrounded by remnants of past dishes. During the coffee course, we had to pour the remaining wine ourselves. Yes! because the staff left us to finish our wine during coffee! The food, while technically well-prepared, and very delicious, did not make up for the poor service. The replacement dish for the fish was a tiny portion of meat, a bit too small. (They also did not serve us any bread until we asked) Overall, the experience was more comedic than culinary. For a Michelin-starred restaurant, this was incredibly disappointing. We hope they can improve, as the potential is definitely there, but the execution was severely lacking. Also... there seemed to be no sommelier at the restaurant with the right knowledge to inform us about our wine choices. We did not even get to see a glimpse of the menu before we could make our wine choice.
Sien V — Google review
We decided for a weekend getaway in Deauville and found this place, very well located, one star michelin, so why not indulge. The perfect choice as we found out while dining, the staff is lovely, we tried some wonderful dishes, the lobster and crab were outstanding, the subtle use of kombawa refreshing, the french caviar a delight. The homemade bread, even if a sidedish does deserve to be mentioned, it would make some bakers would be envious. A great restaurant, we'll happily try out again, we had agreat time.
Chris H — Google review
Very creative yet stay true to their elements in Normandie. Very accommodating service and divine dishes. Creative yet not pretentious and with the right execution. Will be back.
June K — Google review
Very disappointed. All dishes had a sharp taste like vinegar. The only dish which was nice was the scallops and that was so salty it completely ruined it. Left the restaurant hungry and completely bemused as to how they have a Michelin star.
Lisette-Marie R — Google review
Excellent food, imaginatively presented. One or two dishes on the six course menu were less good than others, but nothing to let down the meal overall. Price is what you'd expect for the quality.
Julian L — Google review
We had a very bad experience here. Maximin Hellio was rude upon arrival. Then the service was very slow. They took a long time to bring water and serve the wine. The food was flat and without creativity. And the deserts were simply not good. We would not recommend this Resturant.

French restaurant
Jean-Luc Tartarin, located at 73 Avenue Foch, is a renowned restaurant in the Normandy region. With two Michelin stars and thirteen years of culinary excellence, Chef Jean-Luc Tartarin showcases his passion for exquisite ingredients and daring flavor combinations. Dishes like smoked langoustine with squid ink cappuccino and poached turbot with Calabrian olive oil demonstrate the chef's innovative approach to cooking.
Fantastic fine dining experience. The portions, menu and wine were all amazing. The staff makes one feel valued and important. The kitchen works hard to make sure the dishes are well plated, balanced and fine. Appropriate dress is necessary. It’s not stuffy and pretentious. The bread was made in house and amazing. I highly recommend for date night! It isn’t cheap but worth the value. You will not leave feeling hungry or disappointed
Xo Q — Google review
It was nice, but not at the level you might expect. I only had their lunch menu, so probably not what you’d get for the whole tasting menu. I had a salmon with beef soup that was really pretty boring. Then a fish (a bit salty) with celery risotto (pretty good) and to finish the cheese was just average for this type of restaurant. The wine list is good but classic in every way. Very nice Calvados list by the glass.
Cristobal D — Google review
This was a return visit because we loved it so much the first time in December 2023. We had the monthly menu and were not disappointed. The presentation was beautiful, but there was nothing overly fussy. Other menus seemed to have different plates for the same dishes (assuming that was to accommodate a larger serving as it looked to be from the lunch menu), but when you are paying more for the menu it would be nice to have the better presentation. It was for this reason I'm glad we did not do the tasting menu. The food was really beautiful otherwise, so can't take a star off. The service was immaculate. No request was refused. The food came out quickly and there was no problem when we requested a small break between courses. Waiters knew the menu and the sommilier was able to assist in a suitable wine to match the menu. Music was played softly in the background, but because of where we were seated next to the service area, we felt a little exposed at the start. We were the only ones sitting in the restaurant, and while it is great to receive service even before you realise you need it, it was a little awkward having the wait staff standing about 5 metres away watching while we ate. That is the only reason for the removal of a star. Perhaps a way to fix that could be to place the first people to arrive away from the service area. Will definitely be back as we absolutely love this place xx

Every detail with the use of local products was flawlessly imagined, prepared, presented, and served! The creativity in their menu and dishes was truly impressive! 👏
Joana V — Google review
Recently downgraded from 2 star to 1 and I can see why. The dishes seem more concerned wtih being innovative than tasty. We were staying in Honfleur and made a trek out to Le Havre just for this restaurant and didn't feel it was worth it. It's not bad, just not worth a detour.
K C — Google review
Worthy of every accolade. Had the most amazing meal there today. I ordered the full tasting menu. Two and a half hours of gastronomic bliss only made more special by the attentive and flawless staff. My favorite was the sweetbreads, as well as the millefleure dessert. But everything was extraordinary. The dining room is intimate, without having tables on top of each other. The walls a light grey, with wood blinds and tables, giving a neutral palette to let the colorful food stand out. What an extraordinary experience.
Andrew B — Google review
This was one of my last meals during my visit to France, and, fortunately, I saved the best for the last. The service was pitch perfect, which stood out compared to other experiences. It was the right blend of being attentive but also relaxed. The restaurant itself was nice and comfortable, and not pretentious. The lunch I had was amazing -- ever dish from the appetizers to desert was noteworthy. Highly recommended.
Adam S — Google review
This place is a must go to. We came here for my partners birthday and everything was good from start to finish. The ambiance is lovely, the food was delicious. You can tell that the chef goes above and beyond. The flavors in every dish are unique and tasty. Unforgettable experience. However.. ** The one thing I did not appreciate is that the waitress smelled really bad of cigarettes. I don't this is very appropriate for a restaurant like this. However the restaurant itself, considering the food and service, deserves 5 stars. I would recommend for the manager to review some of the expectations with the staff because this could really be tainting to such a great restaurant and that would be an absolute shame. This was our first time here and will definitely try to come back. My partner was happy and so was I.

Le Spazio is a delightful restaurant and pizzeria located in the charming town of Fécamp, nestled in Normandy. As you step inside, you're greeted by a warm and inviting lounge atmosphere that perfectly balances modern elegance with cozy comfort. The industrial-style chairs and plush armchairs create an ambiance that's both chic and relaxing. The wooden bar adds to the welcoming vibe, making it an ideal spot to unwind.
Wonderful food!! Would return when I have the chance. The pizza was excellent!! 🤤

Wonderfully decorated with really beautiful interiors; the ambience is nice and the food good, but it was disappointing to see a pizza come with plenty of olives when we especially asked for one without.
Monica P — Google review
Do not let the outside appearance put you off from entering this restaurant. It is spacious and tastefully decorated. Ample parking and is within easy walking distance of the town. The menu is varied. The food is delicious. The staff are attentive and engage with their customers. Recommend you have a meal here if you visit Fecamp.
Lou S — Google review
Wonderful restaurant with very friendly staff. We had a excellent dinner for a fair price. Meat was well prepared and delicious. The food layout was very nice. This restaurant is a must when you visit Fecamp.
Marinus — Google review
We got a table outside which was suitable for us. But after 25 minutes of waiting, several signals to the service, nobody from the service felt responsible to serve us. We decided to go back to the registration and ask for a table inside (we really felt hungry).. It was possible to get a table inside... That was that statement... But after 2 minutes of waiting in the middle of the restaurants we were told it is not possible to set the table... Therefore no chance to eat... 1) bad service 2) unfriendly 3) service is not interested to go outside 4) it's not possible to eat 2 hours before closing, because the table cannot be set... Its not possible to give 0 stars therefore 1.
Marius F — Google review
The food was delicious and the waiters were very friendly. Although we had some understanding problems they still gave us the right food. Everything was clean and the Ambiente was very nice.
Luisa — Google review
(Translated by Google) We ate here with four people. From the outside, it looks a bit gloomy and closed, but inside, it's a beautiful location. We made a reservation in advance (and our dog was allowed in too). The staff spoke little to no English, except for one woman who helped us all evening. The dishes were more than ample in size, but also well-presented, everything neat and tidy. There was one mistake while taking the order, but this was immediately resolved by making a new dish. The price/quality ratio is excellent, definitely worth a visit.
Roel W — Google review
(Translated by Google) The setting is spacious, friendly, and modern. One small drawback: the menu says iced tea/fuzz tea. I asked for fuzz tea and was told there wasn't any, so iced tea was fine. There wasn't much choice, but don't leave something on the menu that you don't have because it's hard to run out of drinks: you have to plan ahead. I opted for a Caesar salad: the chicken pieces were very thin, overcooked, and dry, and the Parmesan wasn't very present. The grilled spek was also very dry. I should have ordered a pizza like some of the other guests at the table because it was well-garnished. The red berry panna cotta dessert was very good and fresh. The only drawback is that you have to ask for a spoon to bring the dessert with you. The waiters and waitresses are very friendly and cheerful. Having been a waitress, I may be more picky about these little details, but it seems important to me to highlight them in order to progress because we are still in a restaurant that is not low-end.

I stayed at the Hotel du Saumon on a trip to La Rochelle on my motorbike being about half way between there and Le Shuttle terminal at Coquelles The hotel is right on the main towns square with easy access to cafes restaurants and bars. Bike parking is available in the hotels courtyard but check when the square is used for markets when parking isn't allowed. My room was basic but clean All I really needed for an overnight stay. So good that I booked it for a few days later on my way home.

Located in the heart of Rouen's dining scene, Gill is a prestigious restaurant known for its sophisticated French cuisine with influences from Normandy. For 36 years, it held two Michelin stars until chef Gilles Tournadre decided to part ways with the rating system in 2020. Despite this, Tournadre continues to uphold his culinary excellence by showcasing the finest ingredients from Norman landscapes and waters, such as oysters, crab, scallops, lobster, and various fish varieties.
Simply unbeatable. Of all restaurants in the world I’ve come across, many were good but none beat Gill. The food, atmosphere and professionalism are second to none. They are incredibly consistent and it is an absolute highlight to dine here time and time again.

Former Michelin restaurant with decent food, great atmosphere and excellent service. Had the tartar and was impressed. The ceviche was delicious but the steak was overdone and tiny for the price. I was disappointed with my meal but a decent experience.

One of the best experience we've EVER had, France UK Spain included. An absolute treat from beginning to end, we had the 5 course meal, we were given the option to be told what each course were going to be before but we happily opted out to allow for discovery and excitement. It did not disappoint Expertly served by a savy, knowledgeable and experienced staff. Exciting beyond delicious dishes, awesomely put together products, beautifully presented we were swooned from beginning to end. This is art without being pretentious. Satisfying and pleasing on another level. Please go, not too expensive either. A special mention to the super talented head chef who came out to say hello and chat with us as we were leaving. Really really fantastic.

Impeccable service, very clean establishment, everything from the decor to the cutlery is clearly meticulously chosen. The day we went there was a Hummus "amuse bouche" which was one of the best I've ever had, definitely the best hummus I've had in France. The choices of wine are great. The drinks they offer as aperitif are incredible (I recommend the rum). The restaurant is pricey, but well worth it. All in all, the best restaurant I've been to. It was so good that I actually decided on writing a review.

The restaurant's open kitchen allows guests to observe the culinary mastery while enjoying the warm and relaxing atmosphere.
We had a lovely meal here. After introducing ourselves, we were taken up to a sixth floor dining area with great views across the city and Tomas looked after us very well. There is a selection of tasting menus available, as well as some bonus courses. Several wine pairing offerings also available.

Only 2 out of the 7 courses we ate were actually ‘Michelin worthy’. The rest of the food is average at best. A bit overpriced for the taste and experience.

From the moment we arrived, we were enveloped in an atmosphere that was both elegant and welcoming. The service was impeccable — attentive without being intrusive, and delivered with genuine warmth that made us feel truly special. We chose the 5-course menu with paired wines, and it was an absolute triumph from start to finish. Each dish was a work of art — each dish was a masterpiece. Beautifully presented, with flavours that were perfectly balanced and thoughtfully composed. The wine pairings elevated the experience even further, each glass thoughtfully selected to complement and enhance the flavours on the plate. The setting itself added to the magic of the evening — refined, intimate, and with a touch of understated luxury. If you’re looking for a dining experience that combines artistry on the plate with flawless service and a wonderful atmosphere, L’ODAS is not to be missed.

The lunch we had was simply brilliant in every way and is a grand testament to all the team members how well it flows. The culinary vision is at the highest level and it is magical in its execution. What also stands out is how the culinary vision carries over to the management vision and how the team executes together. There are so many magnificent elements of the meal that just keep exceeding the last dish and the bread and butter could easily be considered its own course. No question that this spot is easily a Michelin 1 star!

Such a pleasurable dining experience. Imaginative and satisfying with delicate ingredients. I will treasure this experience for many years and look forward to going back.

Excellent food and service! Unique tastes that I wish I could taste again

One of the best meals I have ever eaten. The food was spectacular, strong but perfectly balanced flavours, from amazing amuse bouches, through a delicious large ravioli with a perfect yolk inside to a perfectly cooked piece of monkfish with beans, chorizo and a delicately curried sauce, and a delicious raspberry dessert. Everything came as a surprise — you simply choose the number of courses. This was the first time I have experienced this but I really liked it — it added to the anticipation and you ate things that you might not have ordered a la carte… service was great. We ate on the terrace on a very hot day and the parasol didn’t quite shade the table — hence 4/5 on ambience. But it was wonderful and I hope to return!
Dom L — Google review
One excellent female server. Balance of service team was weak. €190 champagne & male server suggested spending twice as much. Bottle not kept at the table & glasses not regularly filled. Surprise menu—lots of “wow” dishes building to so-so main course was disappointing. Male server requested a tip “for the team”. NEVER in 35 years of Michelin rated restaurants have I been solicited for a tip. Service compris.

Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport, located in the Eastern part of Val d'Oise, is a massive hub for intercontinental flights and offers convenient train links to the city center. Families will appreciate its proximity to Disneyland. The airport boasts a futuristic atmosphere with self-service kiosks for easy check-in and luxurious lounges offering delicious food and drinks. It's equipped with an abundance of charging stations throughout the terminal, making it a tech-forward and traveler-friendly space.
Charles de Gaulle Airport is one of the cleanest airports in Europe. I’m currently at Terminal 1 while writing this review, and I have to say the bathrooms are spotless. There are also plenty of brand-name shops, offering a wide range of options for travelers who enjoy shopping. You don’t even need a lounge, there are lots of comfortable seats available, as you can see in the photos.

One of the most luxurious airports ever. If you missed out on shopping for luxury good this airport has it all. They had many places to sit. They even had TVs on and video games to play! crazy fancy! All the workers seem very friendly and knowledgeable! Many places to grab a bite of eat or drink! Many cafés! many restrooms!

We recently traveled through Paris-Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG), and its massive size left us in awe. As one of Europe’s largest airports, its sprawling terminals feel like a bustling city, yet clear signage and helpful staff made navigation smooth. The standout was the endless array of bakeries, offering an authentic taste of Paris. Ladurée in Terminal 1, Zone Sous Douane, was a highlight with its iconic macarons—crisp, flavorful, and divine—alongside fresh croissants, éclairs, and artisanal breads that rivaled any Parisian patisserie. The variety was staggering, catering to every craving. Equally impressive was the fantastic retail scene, featuring luxury vendors like Chanel, Dior, and Hermès, plus charming local boutiques with unique gifts and gourmet treats. The staff were consistently polite, adding to the vibrant, welcoming atmosphere. While the airport’s size can feel daunting, the exceptional dining and shopping options transformed our layover into a delight. CDG is a traveler’s paradise, perfect for indulging in world-class bakeries and retail therapy before a flight. Highly recommend exploring and savoring the experience!

For me this was quite a decent airport with my overall experience being rather positive (except for the bit in the toilets where it seemed like someone practically dropped a bomb considering the huge smell emanating the moment I entered the men’s side of the toilet and, given my luck, managed to open the stall which was ground zero and had the remains plastered all over the flush). Besides that delightful incident, the terminal was very modern security side with staff being quite polite, helpful and accommodating. They could speak English as well so that would be helpful for those not fluent in French. Also, there’s easy to access public transport here as we used the RER both ways in and from Paris. Just make sure which pass you can get and get it in advance for the return flight especially if it’s an early morning flight. Apparently, in my case, the Navigo pass card (had to use the physical version since phone app was bugged) could not be recharged due to some 8 hour limit (I was previously recharging it for 2-3 individual metro tickets per day) so I had to get another card with this airport trip recharged (as advised by the concerned official). Doing it the night before saved me quite a bit of hassle. Other than that, the airport has decent shops and seating. Safe travels and good luck catching your flights! PS: for those visiting Paris for the first time, just a bit of advice. Contrary to popular opinion/stereotypes: Parisians aren’t rude. In fact I found them quite polite and helpful. Just make sure to greet them properly and make the bare minimum effort to learn please (s’il vous plaît), thank you (merci) and good day (bonjour)/good evening (bonsoir) and they’ll treat you like decent human beings. Just make sure to behave well and not act like entitled/ignorant tourists. Nobody likes those.

Quite possibly the best airport in the world, especially when it comes to the departure gates we were at flying to Taipei via EVA Air. Not only are the gates functional with charging at every seat but there were movies playing with stadium seating, a hopscotch, video game stations, news watching station, and its designed like a glamorous old world train station, like the Orient Express. This is how Paris continues to be world renowned, it’s not just about the style, that’s the just the cherry on top. It’s about the playfulness, comfort, and usability. We should all be so lucky to frequent a space like this.

I’m walking around Charles de Gaulle Airport right now, taking it all in. It’s big, sure, but there’s always this feeling that something’s missing. I’m looking for… I don’t know, a bit more character or comfort? For a city like Paris, you’d expect the airport to feel more impressive. Overall, solid three out of five — gets the job done, but could definitely be better.

This is a very busy airport that is very clean and organised. There are several high profile stores you can shop in while you wait. The subway metro is attached to the airport which makes travelling easier. The only problem is that I existed the wrong door and had to trace my steps at the entrance to the airport from the subway. I almost threw out my metro subway ticket and the other metro ticket I had didn't have the airport fare. Luckily it was in my bag.

Paris Beauvais Airport

Permanently Closed
International airport
Airport
Paris Beauvais Airport, a former military airport, primarily serves low-cost carrier flights to various European destinations. The airport consists of Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 located adjacent to each other. Travelers can easily reach the airport from Paris by taking a bus from Porte Maillot bus station, with tickets available for purchase at the station or online. The airport offers shops and cafes for convenience, and there is a bus station within walking distance that provides direct access to Paris city.
i had heard some horror stories about this airport, so i came mentally prepared for chaos. after an hour-long (and honestly overpriced) bus ride, i finally arrived. maybe it was just the golden hour light, but the airport actually looked quite nice. it’s tiny, which means zero chance of getting lost. major win if you’re prone to travel stress. friends had warned me that security would be a nightmare. and yes, they are strict: all electronics out, liquids in a bag, random questions about whether you’re carrying hair dryers or other suspiciously ordinary objects. but as a frequent flyer, i was ready. no issues at all. everything went smoothly. i was more worried about my backpack situation. souvenirs pushed it over the limit and i couldn’t fit everything. so i layered up with 5 or 6 t-shirts and carried the rest in my arms to the gate. no one said anything. once on the plane, i pulled my tote bag back out of the backpack and reorganized everything. again, no issues. i didn’t try the food so can’t speak to that, but let’s be honest: airport food is usually overpriced and average at best. despite the airport being small and a bit overcrowded, i easily found a seat with a plug to charge my phone. all in all, it was way smoother than expected. not a bad experience at all.

Worst airport in Europe. It took me two and a half hours just to get through the security line. There’s absolutely no logic to how it’s organized. Along the line, there are so-called “fast track” passengers who don’t even have a separate priority lane — they just cut in front of everyone else, blocking the entire regular queue. When a flight is close to departure, the staff open extra lanes, forcing the rest of the queue to wait even longer for an indefinite amount of time. The airport staff are often rude and visibly stressed (understandably so, given the complete chaos and lack of organization from airport management). I witnessed some appalling scenes — a young man and a woman were trying to ask for information in English, and the staff rudely shut them down in French with a “shut up!,” paying zero attention to the passengers. Completely unacceptable — not only for the rudeness, but also because they only spoke French, even though this is supposed to be an international airport. I managed to stay calm for the whole two and a half hours, and in the end, I did get through security. One lady working there was actually very kind and understanding with me, which I appreciated. But it really upset me to see how badly other passengers were treated. Next time I travel to Paris, I’ll make sure to avoid this airport at all costs — easily the worst airport experience of my life.

Oh my gosh.....very slow and tedious airport. But quaint. Okay for.some but definitely NOT FOR ME. They should deal with the capacity and not burden travelers. Can't cope.with the long queue. only 2 immigration booth with 2 officers working at arrivals and only one immigration booth with 2 officers at departure . Too tired standing in queue to remember to take photos of inside the airport. Trust me there isn't much.2 cafes and a stocked duty free with the usual. Perfumes, skincare sweets. Alcohol. It was goodbye for me. Never again unless they expand or hire more staff. 😆

This is more of a gun then an airport. It was clean the security staff were friendly and efficient. There is just one small cafe restaurant on the boarding side and it don't offer much and is expensive. Other then that a great little hub to take you into Paris which is just over an hour. Plenty of shuttle transport coaches etc. and staff outside to help you out. It is also very busy but staff are still willing to help.
L-G — Google review
Very poor organization of the airport. Staff is working very slow , making it difficult for passengers to reach their gate. Furthermore, they are allowing one sealed bag of perfumes/ creams . If you have 2 or 3 more expensive perfumes, they ask you to choose which one to throw , because it doesn’t fit their “one small sealed bag”.. This is the first and last time I step foot in this airport. If I can give below zero rating, I would give -5. I really do wish that the airport will improve in the future and make a much smarter and smoother travel through it.
Madeline B — Google review
The airport is about a one-hour drive from Paris. On arrival, head to the rather deserted bus terminal next to the airport and take the bus to Porte de la Villette, where you can switch to Metro Line 7. There are other bus routes to Paris, but this one was the easiest for reaching Gare de l’Est, which is also close to Gare du Nord.

First of all, I hope that everyone who departs and arrives from here in the future will have a good experience. When I departed yesterday, I searched on the map to find the route. I was a little surprised by the bad reviews under the map. This also made me feel a little uneasy about what I was going to suffer. But when I actually arrived, my experience was still higher than I expected. The customs officer was very enthusiastic and greeted me briefly. The driver outside the station also guided me enthusiastically. As far as my personal experience is concerned, I am quite satisfied, except that it is a little far from the city. Bus transportation is also very convenient, but you just need to be fully prepared when traveling.
Joseph B — Google review
The arrivals experience at this airport is extremely good and quick. No boarding bridge or bus needed, you walk down the ramp into the terminal building which is even smaller than some hypermarkets. The departure experience is also quick - however the security control is extremely inefficient. Each passenger is "interviewed" about having liquids, electronics. There are two channels at T2 at least. This could be quicker although i also blame passengers who do not come prepared with their liquids packed into plastic bags - if someone shows up those stuff not packed in plastic bags, all of them must be packed on the control which slows the whole queue down. The sitting area in departures is ok - however 2 flight delays are enough to cause a shortage of seats. Inside the shops are just enough for the size of airport. Overall a decent, well managed airport. Going to/from airport to Paris is very convenient as there are shuttles running which charge 30€ for a round trip. The bus station is immediately in front of terminal 2 exit.

Paris Orly Airport

International airport
Airport
France's busiest domestic airport with flights to select international destinations.
Very easy to navigate and customs move a lot of people through pretty quickly. Everyone is very friendly and eager to help. The bathrooms are clean and the airport staff is very friendly and helpful. Wonderful experience

It’s now possible to take the M14 metro directly from central Paris to the airport, but note that it costs €13 instead of the standard €2.50. To avoid the higher fare, you can switch to the T7 tram line—but be sure to buy and validate your ticket when boarding, or you risk a €70 fine. The airport is well equipped, including a large McDonald's with decent food at reasonable prices. However, the layout of the gates and terminals can be confusing, and staff assistance is limited—so stay alert. When we travelled, they were strict about allowing only one small liquids bag per person. The airport can also get crowded, so it’s best to arrive at least 3 hours before your flight, even without checked luggage.

From the moment I arrived at Orly Airport, I felt truly welcomed. I was initially a little anxious about returning a rental car, but the signage was clear and well-indicated, making it easy to find the correct parking area. At several points along the way, I was greeted warmly, which made the process smooth and stress-free. I knew exactly where to park and was able to unload my heavy luggage with ease. I was also struck by how immaculate the airport was: clean, beautifully designed, with elegant boutiques throughout. One particular highlight was the discovery of the post office within the terminal. After 12 days traveling in France, I still had postcards I wanted to write. When I asked a member of the Traveler Customer Service team where I could post them, they kindly directed me downstairs to the arrivals level. To my delight, I found not only a post office but also a comfortable space where I could sit with my family and write detailed messages. This small but thoughtful service turned out to be a five-star experience. Out of curiosity, I asked how Orly compares to other airports in France, because honestly, Orly wasn’t initially on my radar—I had simply booked a flight that suited my schedule. But after this experience, I realized how exceptional the welcome here truly is. The many beautiful signs—“Paris loves you,” “Paris welcomes you,” “Paris will never forget you”—perfectly capture the spirit of Orly Airport. For me, this is the true definition of a welcoming airport. Continue well and celebrate the eco system you create working in harmony

It’s certainly not a nice visiting card for a 4-star airport, nor for Paris, when you see how dirty and poorly maintained it is. It’s rare to see this kind of disorder, dirt, and dead plants anywhere in the world—especially in a capital city. It’s really a pity, because Paris, as well as this airport where a lot of work has already been done, has huge potential. With just a little more effort and better organization, it could be made much nicer.
Jolanta S — Google review
I have to defend this airport a little. Architecturally it is certainly anything but modern but the processes are effective. Some queues could be shorter but what airport doesn't have that problem? It is very easy to reach by public transportand there are various ways to avoid the expensive €13 ticket for the shuttle.
Martin K — Google review
DISASTER !!! 😱😱😱 1. On the way out (departure): outdated and inefficient Security checks are painfully slow. Why? Because never all scanning lanes are open, which creates unnecessary queues. And worse — Orly is still stuck in the past: almost no modern scanners, so you still have to remove liquids into a plastic bag, take out your laptop, etc 🤣😅 While airports like Milan and Barcelona and so on, have fully upgraded, Orly is just not keeping up. Wake up, ADP — it’s 2025. 2. On the way back (arrival): chaos and insecurity The moment you exit the gates, you’re thrown into total insecurity. No staff to assist, no clear signage — just swarms of fake taxi drivers, unlicensed and aggressive. We saw a lot of tourist groups getting scammed in under an hour, while airport staff looked the other way... And if you try to wait for an official taxi? The line is painfully long, likely the worst in any EU capital, with no real system or oversight.

ORLY3, we took the metro from central Paris to this airport for our Transavia flight to Barcelona. The metro was smooth and accessing the machine to print our baggage tags was also smooth. Everything after that point was confusion. There are separate lines to drop off hold bags which was showed our bag tags to attendants to find the right line, "TSA" is very serious about all liquids being out of bags(they provide small baggies for these liquids), and the gate number is not provided until an hour before the flight. We found our way through, but you must check the reader boards multiple times to navigate through to the gate to know where to go. The airport is very modern, after security the path leads through shops so theres no way to avoid them. The lighting is bright, and from what I could tell the airport overall was quite clean. Improvements need to be more clear on where to drop off bags, and which gate the flight will be on. We only speak English and made it through fine, but employees are mostly French speaking.
Alex B — Google review
Super long queue for check in and drop baggage. Because mostly EU airline they need to check 1 by 1 passport holder if pax need visa before boarding. They didn't want to bare the return cost of that pax if rejected entry. We queue almost 1 hour+, hope they can't have a list country visa or walkie talkie to communicate well instead the airline staff get out of their seat to check with officer.
