Mi' Ndujo - Marconi

$$$$affordable
Sandwich shop
If you're in the mood for a culinary adventure, Mi' Ndujo - Marconi is an absolute must-visit. This gem specializes in authentic Calabrian sandwiches that are not only massive but also crafted with fresh, local ingredients that you won't find anywhere else. The friendly and helpful staff add to the welcoming atmosphere, making your dining experience even more enjoyable. The interior decor is impressive, creating a vibrant setting for your meal.
Strongly recommended. You may find the local sandwiches from Calabria you can't find anywhere else, super big with perfect and fresh local ingredients that undoubtedly worth to experience it at least once when you're nearby and wanna try something different and special. In addition to that the staff are super friendly, helpful and nice. Moreover, the inner decoration is awesome, and also they already provided drive-in facility. In total, they absolutely deserve a five star vote.

I had heard about this up and coming Calabrian fast food franchise via multiple food bloggers and had to try it while on vacation. Che meraviglia! The quality, taste and originality are excellent and the cost was excellent . Speriamo un giorno di veder mi ndujo in Canada :)
Davide F — Google review
The best fast food ever!! Genuine and yummy, clean location and smiling workers! You have to be there and recharge yourself of good vibes!

Food looks much nicer in the pictures, tasted low quality... Staff was friendly

I was heading to McDo to take a simple dinner for my first day of arrival in Rende, and I was so fortunate to notice your ad on the street side and changed my mind. As a Chinese living in France, I was impressed perfectly by your innovative, Calabria-style food. Now you make me so sad, since I would definitely miss this taste when I go back to France. Would you ever consider expanding your business abroad? 🤣

Best food I've had so far on this trip to Italy! Super friendly staff, quick ordering time, looks great inside and the food travelled really well as takeaway. Had the nduja pork patty sandwich, and will be hankering for this until I return to Cosenza.

Mi'Ndujo

$$$$affordable
Sandwich shop
Mi'Ndujo - Cosenza is an outstanding sandwich shop that offers exceptional hamburgers. The ingredients used are of superb quality, including a top-notch patty, genuine caciocavallo cheese, and Tropea Onions. These delicious components are expertly enclosed in freshly baked bread made on-site. The variety of options available is extensive, and the staff members are skilled, attentive, and amiable. This establishment comes highly recommended whenever one craves a truly excellent burger.
I recently dined at Mi Njudo in Cosenza, and it was a fantastic experience! I ordered the sausage and 'nduja sandwich, and it was absolutely delicious. The flavors were rich and perfectly balanced, making every bite a delight. What truly sets this place apart is that they make their own bread, which added a wonderful freshness to the sandwich. They also pride themselves on using fresh, local ingredients, showcasing the best of Calabrian products, including caciocavallo silano and spicy nduja. To top it off, they offered some chocolate sticks with Nutella, which were incredibly tasty and a perfect way to end the meal. Overall, I had a wonderful time at Mi Njudo, and I can't wait to return for another delicious meal. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Cosenza!

Delicious sandwiches! Seating upstairs as well as in an enclosed outdoor seating area. Staff are cordial and kind. There is a menu in English upon request. @Erowid_Spark on YouTube
Gilbert S — Google review
Friendly Staff, fast service, a little bit pricey, but not too much. Covered outdoor seating was nice. Chicken sandwich very good and burger was good. Fried Potatoes were good but needed some salt for our tastes.
Kevin M — Google review
Mi'Ndujo in Cosenza offers a truly unique and mouthwatering experience with their Mi Sballo menu. The freshly baked bread, prepared right before your eyes, sets the stage for an unforgettable meal. The Hamburger 🍔, made with Mi'Ndujo's special recipe, was packed with flavor, perfectly complemented by the rich and creamy Fonduta alla Canapa. The Caciocavallo cheese from az. PreSila added a delightful touch, while the crispy pancetta from Menotti provided the perfect crunch. Pairing it all with a cold, refreshing draft Peroni 🍺 was the cherry on top. Mi'Ndujo is a must-visit for anyone looking to indulge in high-quality, delicious food in Cosenza. Highly recommended!
Sebastian A — Google review
Wow! Amazing stop on our way to Calabria. Nice fresh bread.
Joey Z — Google review
As good as before, but in my opinion they charge too much for a filled "panino". Especially in Calabria.
Nikita T — Google review
We really enjoyed the Mi Ndujo Aperitivo here large beer with snacks was just what we need in the heat
RobertsRoamers — Google review
Nothing to say about the goodness of what we ate. Just be careful not to get caught up in the friendly waitress, who is very well prepared, but whose advice will increase the cost of your "fast food" to well beyond the normal cost of a good restaurant in these areas. Spending 30 euros per person to eat a sandwich and a drink, although excellent, didn't seem reasonable to us.

This charming eatery offers a delightful array of sandwiches that cater to all tastes, including vegetarian options. The friendly staff create a welcoming atmosphere that enhances your dining experience. While the prices may be on the higher side, the generous portions and mouthwatering flavors make it well worth it. The food was very tasty and freshly made. It also was something I haven't tried before so I was extra interested in the food. It was worth trying!
Tina K — Google review
Food is supposed to be good, really local food quality taste, but the taste is too clean and home-made for a fast-food, but maybe it's just a personal opinion. The attitude in the service is very bad. Overall, maybe it's too much expensive.
Noe K — Google review
Generous portions of food, XXL options in the entire menu. Very good!

Il Brillo Parlante - Lorica

Chophouse restaurant
Il Brillo Parlante in Lorica is a must-visit grill restaurant that promises an unforgettable dining experience. Nestled in the stunning Sila region, this gem offers high-quality cuts of meat cooked to perfection, ensuring every bite is bursting with flavor. The friendly and attentive staff create a warm atmosphere that makes you feel right at home.
Our local cousins brought us here Great food all around. Doubt you can make a mistake! Good service, delicious wine too. Great view & good service
Norine C — Google review
This is the place in Sila for meat typical of the region. Portions are good, food is great, service is great, and a great view of the lake.
Frank C — Google review
The antipasto is quite tasty and it has all the typical things you‘ll usually find in this corner of the world. Grigliata is a decent main, even though I was expecting a piece of grilled beef and I found some of it a bit too salty. Porcini (mushrooms) and caciocavallo (fried cheese) were pretty tasty. On the other side, I found the craft red beer a bit tasteless. Location is nice, just in front of the lake.
Matt R — Google review
During my visit I took my nieces for a drive into Sila to see snow and spend a day outdoors in a winter wonderland. We went to lunch here at Il Brillo and as I’ve never been here it was on my sisters recommendation. I was overwhelmed by how good the food was. Fresh. Meats cooked perfectly to order and with flavors to please any palate. Definitely worth the wait during these limited seating Covid times. Reservations are recommended. The photos hopefully will do it justice. Prices are beyond fair. Prepare to share. And order extra potatoes and onions. They’re the best. Enjoy.
Francesco G — Google review
Great location with a lake view. Place is huge and beautiful, cozy. They don't serve pasta but meat and salumi and cheese. Very close to the ski lift.

One of my favourite spot in Sila. The meat is great: super tasty and tender! The waiters and the owners are super nice and kind, the overall service is just perfect. Also the location is really cool, warm and cozy and the view is to die for! The grilled caciocavallo is amazing and also the millefoglie. The price, compared to the high quality of the food and service, is really convenient! I can't recommend more this place!

La Rondinella Osteria Pop

$$$$affordable
Restaurant
Italian restaurant
I always frequent La Rondinella Osteria when I'm in Scalea, and every visit leaves me completely satisfied. The taster menu offers high-quality food at a reasonable price, especially considering the various drinks that accompany each course. This charming restaurant in Scalea's old town comes highly recommended. The exceptional food and service are well-priced, with the antipasta platter being a must-try dish.
Small restaurant that serves local ingredients cooked with a mix of traditional and modern styles. I really like it! Also the suggested wines were a good addition to the menu.
Attilio S — Google review
I can't say enough good things about this place. The atmosphere is lovely. The food is beyond incredible and all of it is original with unique touches. The service was amazing, with real care put into the advice they give. They accommodated our young son as well and all of his chaos and mess. You can't miss this if you are in the area. Honestly, one of the best meals we have had.
Peter U — Google review
We loved the idea that it was farm to table and that it was a family run restaurant. Service took a while to get wine in the beginning but then it was quick and informative! The food was okay but we had very high expectation’s. The flavour of the food was not as flavourful as we expected! We enjoyed the food and wine pairing! It was a nice experience all in all and a cute spot in Scalea. Next time would just do the individual meal, the steak looked amazing at the table next to us.
Paula M — Google review
Amazing 🤩😍 my boyfriend and I went there for dinner, around 8 pm. We had called one or two days earlier to make the reservation. We were greeted by a welcoming and very professional waitress. She guided us all through the dinner with very helpful suggestions and curiosities about the food we were consuming, their traditional making of it and their work through different generations. It really was a wholesome experience. The food of course was special, tasty and fresh. Products of quality always. We ate on the inside which was cooler in summer. Strongly recommend it! We would definitely go back again. Thank you for the great experience!
Keti T — Google review
What you eat here was probably grown and or raised on the family farm. Even the house wine is homemade. Menu varies and reservations are encouraged. Don’t forget dessert!
Vince S — Google review
The best Calabrian food in the Area, the flavors, the attention, the atmosphere ….. we never forget it. We love ❤️ Scalea 😀🖖🏽
Ricardo R — Google review
I visit this restaurant every time I'm in Scalea and every time I leave there fully satisfied. This time we tried the taster and the quality was very high for the price, even more so when you factor in the different drinks paired with certain courses (6 courses, 2 wines and 2 aperitifs). Would highly recommend this idyllic restaurant in Scaleas old town.
Will C — Google review
A highly recommendable restaurant with local fresh and very tasty food! We went for dinner and they offer a different "fixed" menu every day. Started with a meat and cheese platter, followed by delicious mains. They're also able to accomodate dietary wishes, so in my case gluten free pasta and bread was available!

Good place for lunch. I had pasta with sausage ragu. Portion size was just right for lunch. Limited dessert selection but the chocolate almond cake really good.

A Cantina…an unpretentious diamond in the rough eatery serving some of the most delicious local cusine that is surely to have you begging for more. You must try the house red wine as dive into the braised short ribs which a meal fit for a king.

Can get busy and is always busy on a weekday lunchtime. They do a varied amount of startes and include seasonal vegetables grilled or oven baked. Some artiginal beers. The pasta is not heavy and has a great back office team....the kitchen. They sell local water 2 euros for a litre gassed or natural. It's fairly quick and youl leave happy.

We went 2 people on 15th August 2025 after recommendation. They didn't gave us a table because they had available tables only for 4 people....so disappointed for the bad service, they are looking only for money and they don't care to serve you if its only two people! I dont recommend it 😡🤯

Wonderful service by amadeo. The space is on prime location next to the sea 🌊 really beautiful and tasty seafood pastas. Unfortunately there was a childrens party so was quite noisy and we were hoping to have a nice quiet evening. But I'm guessing this was a one off. Really worth a visit. Service was exceptional.

Nice restaurant (also pizza available) with several outside tables overlooking the sea; the pleasant sound of the waves accompanied our dinner, undisturbed by any background music. great thing about this place is that they do not charge a cover charge. all the dishes here (4 seafood mains + 1 gnocchi + vegetables + 2 tiramisu + 2 waters + 1 beer) cost us 5 people €96 great value for money. the grilled seabass and squid were amazing and fresh. tiramisu was outstanding they offered us english menus and were accommodating when we asked to remove an ingredient from the vegetable dish

The food was very delicious and flavorful! We are so glad we came here for dinner. We did not realize they open at 8pm, and showed up at 7:45 pm. They greeted us anyway and took us to our table. We ordered seafood spaghetti, fried cod and stir fried chicory greens - everything was amazing! For dessert we had tiramisu, which was also very delicious. Their prices are very reasonable for the outstanding food and service. Highly recommend this restaurant, you will not be disappointed.
Naila K — Google review
Great place with great service and food. Just 2 minutes from the highway, we stopped by for lunch while on our road trip. We had two main courses and they were delicious. The staff is very friendly and professional. Super recommended both if you are in Cosenza and if you are traveling from the highway and you want to have some lunch close to the road. It is worth a try!
Frances — Google review
Location is good - right next to highway exit, and good for quick lunch / dinner on your way to somewhere else. Taste is just okay. The homemade pasta with anchovies (sauce) is similar to fast food quality, although the restaurant was kind enough to not charge me when they saw the pasta was barely touched. Fish baked in sea salt was completely over cooked, and also another rookie mistake was to cook the grill mixed meat with sausage cut wide open - the sausage taste just "contaminated" all other mixed meat on the plate.

Transportation in the Province of Cosenza

Getting around the Province of Cosenza can be a little daunting if you’re new here. We can help list some of the major public transportation methods if you don’t want to rely on a car.

Nearby airports

Crotone-Sant'Anna Airport "Pythagoras"

Airport
Heliport
Regional airport
Crotone-Sant'Anna Airport "Pythagoras" is located near the Calabrian city of Santa Severina, known for its Byzantine heritage and ranking as one of Italy's most beautiful villages. The airport offers convenient access to nearby accommodations such as the 3-star Th Capo Rizzuto Hotel Isola Di Capo Rizzuto, which provides shuttle services and car rentals for guests.
Nice small airport with cheap flights. Everything was fine. Plus there is really kind and helpful lady in the information office. Don't be afraid to ask her for anything. She made your holiday!
Bohumil H — Google review
I wanted it to be a good review, but sadly that's not the case. The flights are cheap, the airport was clean, except toilets. Watch out for the broken speaker, it has scared me. :) The area will get crowded very quickly and you can find only 16 chairs in total, at least before the security check. The airport has only 2 departures in a whole day and they managed to get them delayed. Everyone had to wait in the area smaller than the actual plane and just a few staff can speak English/German. That's the norm here in Crotone though. If you want to get out of the airport you have to either rent a car, taxi or get on the only 2 busses a day.
Marek S — Google review
The airport serves the entire area around Crotone well, and while it is small, it functions decently. However, there is room for improvement. For instance, adding more seating would prevent passengers from having to stand while waiting, and installing information screens would help keep travelers updated on boarding times.
Alessandro F — Google review
Third airport in Calabria , it mainly serves the province of Crotone , the lower Ionian coast of Cosenza and part of the province of Catanzaro . The management company is “Aeroporto S. Anna SpA”, founded in November 1993 . The facility, whose airport is named after the philosopher Pythagoras , is equipped with a 2000 m long and 45 m wide asphalt runway, located at an altitude of 158 m/520 ft with runway orientation 17-35.
Nazmul H — Google review
Very small airport. There is a bus going to Crotone with 1,80 euros and the taxi is around 30 euros but there are not many waiting

Lamezia Terme International Airport

International airport
Airport
Lamezia Terme International Airport (SUF) is the main international airport in Calabria, Italy. It offers affordable direct flights from various European destinations and serves as a convenient entry point for travelers visiting the region. The airport provides connections to other parts of Italy and Europe, making it easily accessible for visitors. Travelers can reach the airport by car, taxi, or bus from the central station, with the bus being a cost-effective option.
Very nice airport and quite modern in the departures side. Nice coffee and snacks. I don’t understand the negative reviews.
Valentina N — Google review
Lamezia Terme airport is a very small airport. From the plane to the international arrivals was by bus and took a couple of minutes. Even though there were two staff members on passport control, we went through fairly quickly as we were the only plane that had landed. There is only one carousel in the international arrivals terminal, and it didn't take that long for our luggage to arrive. It then took us about 5 minutes to walk to our coach. When we returned to fly home, the coach dropped us right outside the departure terminal. We were escorted to the checkin by a TUI guide, and the three desks for our flight processed the coach full of passengers with luggage very quickly. There are a few shops in the departures area before you go through security. Security had 3 scanners operating and took us only a few minutes to go through. Once through security there are a few more shops, cafes, etc and as usual at airports prices are more expensive than outside. We flew from gate 8. There are two gates together (7&8). Once you go through security, you need to queue up and wait for passport control to open. We used the self-service scanner for our passport check and have our photograph taken. You then go to a security officer to have our passport stamped. The depart lounge is way too small, even for one plane. With two planes taking off close together, there was no room to sit unless you went through passport control as soon as it opened. The bus journey to our plane took us less than 1 minute. In summary, Lamezia Terme airport is small, very clean, and efficient. However, what lets it down is the lack of seating in the departure lounge.
Terry H — Google review
Well connected to the train station, small but practical, some shops of souvenirs a a cafeteria / bakery inside. Public bus number 90 outside 3euros to train station for a 5min trip. Bus may leave stations with some delay due to passengers boarding
Ben A — Google review
Small and functional airport, with all expected services available. Well connect with train station by regular shuttle with price included in your train ticket, if you traveling further by train. Excellent position to explore Calabria with a sea side of incredible beauty, it worth to travel there.
Federico P — Google review
Terrible, terrible experience at this airport. Staff were incredibly rude and unprofessional — there was absolutely no sense of customer service. Our 6 checked bags were somehow not loaded onto the plane for a short 1 hour 15 minute flight from Lamezia Terme (SUF) to Rome (FCO). We still cannot understand what happened. It took three full days to get our luggages back, after an incredibly stressful and exhausting ordeal filled with worry, frustration, and uncertainty. We also handed over the keys to our luggage locks after the agent insisted we needed to. However, the keys were not returned to us when we received our luggage. This should never happen. A serious lack of training and accountability. This is not the first time we have traveled to this airport, and we expected way better service than what we received. Customer service has significantly deteriorated over the years and is now non-existent. Travelers are paying the price. Travelers deserve better than this.

The staff at this airport were completely unprofessional and rude. Their behavior was unacceptable and made my experience at the airport extremely unpleasant. The airport needs to take immediate action to address this issue and provide better training for its staff to ensure a more pleasant experience for travelers.

The Staff at the security gates are rude, bored and lazy. They are not interested in working. They just stand around drinking coffee, eating biscuits and chit chatting. You can take everything with you such as scissors and Liquids over 200ml. They don't even check. The airport itself is very old and the departure gates are in a TENT! There is no air conditioning and I'm shocked that Italy calls this an airport! It's like something from the 3rd world.

Usual nonsense from Ryanair. Ram you into a super hot holding area then leave you there for ages. Airport is tiny and Mickley mouse in its operations and Ryanair rubber stamp how bad it is. Shocking
