Adrian Tropical

Mentioned on
+1 other list
$$$$affordable
Dominican restaurant
Creole restaurant
Adrian Tropical is a popular spot for trying Dominican cuisine, offering staples like mofongo and sancocho. While the food may feel mass-produced at times, it's still a great place to start your Dominican food tasting journey. The restaurant is located on Avenida Abraham Lincoln in Santo Domingo and is known for its delicious mofongo. Although the service can be slow, the friendly staff are accommodating. Some visitors recommend trying Adrian's choice, which offers a variety of meats.
We arrived late after a long flight and with a large group. We were seated fairly quickly overlooking the ocean. QR code menus were provided which was difficult for some of the older people in our group. The waitress who spoke little English was very helpful despite some language barriers (I speak a little Spanish). It did take a while for our orders to come out but we did have a large party so I will guess that is why, no biggie because the food was worth the wait! Everything was delicious. The fried red snapper was my favorite and seasoned perfectly. The sample board was a great appetizer for 8 ppl to share and try a little of everything. The red sangria was yummy. This was a great introduction to Dominican food for my family who was visiting me for the first time. We also had a birthday at midnight and they brought out dessert and sang. It was a great kick off to our family vacation in Santo Domingo.

The service is great depending on who you get. I want to give credit to the trip waiter/waitress that attended to my party, Ester and Manuel. They were great and I'd love to have them again. The atmosphere is beautiful, but the food is hit or miss. The drinks were good especially the natural juices. I will say I also tried a burger and the presentation of food is great but the bread wasn't to my liking. The taste of the meat in the burger was great, so I only ended up eating that part. It's worth a visit, even just to view the sea and observe the sunset with good drinks and listen to the peaceful sounds of the ocean.
Sid W — Google review
The food is presented in unique ways. Some of the food - the mofongo for instance was a bit dry, the chicharon de cerdo was also dry. The fresh fruit juices are super yummy. I ordered two of the passion fruit. The location on the water (Él Malecon) is wonderful— especially sitting right above the water. I liked it so much I returned the next day with my whole family. We enjoyed the complimentary Sancocho in tiny bowls- tasty!
Dennise D — Google review
More of a chill beachside restaurant vibe. They a QR menu which translates to English for tourists. Enjoyed the creole seafood rice stew, especially with their homemade hot sauce. Took a long time to get the attention of the service team so be warned.
Rovik R — Google review
Looking at the reviews about service and waiting times. Absolutely true. The food was good but nothing worth waiting one hour and 20 minutes. So if you want to go there just make sure you are prepared that someone takes your order and never comes back to check on you. The apologies about the wait time was basically why are you complaining feel lucky that you got served. One thing is certain for our family visiting for the first time from out of town, we are definitely not going back to this place ever again.
Luis P — Google review
Great location, beautiful view of the water and the sound of the wave is amazing. Food was not that good. We had the Fried rice, the chicken soup and chicken tenders.
Tasha P — Google review
The food was pretty good overall. The location next to the ocean makes for a nice backdrop.
BackpackingAndy — Google review
I like this restaurant just because The ocean view 🌊😍The food and drinks are good and affordable…it’s hard to find a parking at the restaurant but is parking at the street… the Service is not good because no one welcome you … took me 5 min or more to get a table and they took 15 min plus to take your order plus 30-35 to bring it…si eres amante del picante 🌶️ el mejor picante lo tienen ellos 🥵 🌶️ 🔥

Pat'e Palo European Brasserie

$$$$expensive
European restaurant
Pat'e Palo European Brasserie is a culinary gem nestled in the heart of Santo Domingo, specifically on the vibrant Plaza de Espana. As the first tavern established in the Americas, it offers an exquisite seafood tasting menu that promises to delight your palate. The restaurant boasts ample outdoor seating, allowing guests to savor their meals while soaking up the charming colonial atmosphere and stunning views of Alcanza de Colon.
Excellent service, friendly staff. Delicious food & drinks. We will be back!
Eboni R — Google review
The restaurant has a lovely and inviting atmosphere, perfect for a relaxing evening. However, the food and presentation were disappointing. We waited forever for our meals, and when they finally arrived, the carbonara was a disaster—made with cream and mushrooms, which completely ruined the dish. Sadly, the overall experience didn’t live up to the ambiance.
Maria K — Google review
We had lunch here and it's a beautiful location! Right there on the plaza in a row of restaurants, it offers a nice view of the people coming and going if you're seated outside. Inside it's cool and air conditioned. With the staff wearing pirate gear it's kind of cute and I think the decor reflects the theme. We had drinks, crispy apples and croquettes as appetizers which were all very good. For the main course it was steak and the goat cheese salad, the coconut curry shrimp, the mushroom risotto, and the mahi mahi. They were all good, though the sauce for the mahi mahi didn't have much flavor. It was a nice dining experience. Parking around the corner at the parking garage is about 100 pesos.
Michelle M — Google review
I love this restaurant in Santo Domingo! The food, the vibe, and the location are all amazing. That Bandeja Imperial appetizer was killer, with that awesome mix of fish and crispy octopus ceviche. We also had the Res Bourgiugnon and the Shrimp Curry, and they were both fantastic. So flavorful and well-balanced.
Marcelo Z — Google review
Food was mid at best, my onion soup had twigs in it and they left the bay leaf in. The cheese was melted but not caramelized. The drinks were not bad but 16$ for a margarita was too much. Too pricey for the quality of the food and the portions were minuscule. We ate here because of the fact n laws wanted but as soon as I saw the themed staff uniform I knew we were getting fleeced. The staff was not attentive, he laughed at the request to withhold cheese from a dish because one of our family members is vegan. Just avoid this tourist trap.
Jesemanuel R — Google review
This is a must visit when coming to Santo Domingo especially for the first time. It is perfectly situated in the middle of the colonial city on the Plaza de España . With a wonderful view of the Alcanza de Colon. This restaurant has ample outdoor seating and is a hotspot in the evenings. The food is consistently good, and has many many offerings for any pallet to be satisfied.
Jason A — Google review
The food was good, the place is beautiful, the service so so. We had to remind the waiters to bring the things... I'm still waiting for my coffee 😁. It happened with drinks mostly. Aside from that the menus are too big for the table and the info it contains. Is uncomfortable to have them. The restroom is on the 2nd floor. One has to go up and what if is an elder person? It is nice because you feel obligated to take a tour to the restaurant but the stairs are uncomfortable. Loved the food presentation and the way the waiters served the food. Well educated in the restaurant industry. Adding some pics. It was a party of 7, dinner, nice time.
Lidia C — Google review
very good food. crispy apple was amazing. however, it took them a long time to come to take our order and we felt unattended (probably because we sat indoors and most people sat outside). also, the restaurant was a bit overpriced in my opinion (and i live in new york city aka the most overpriced city in the world).

El Mesón de la Cava

Mentioned on
1 list
$$$$expensive
Restaurant
Nestled within a natural limestone cave, El Mesón de la Cava is a renowned restaurant in the Dominican Republic. Stepping inside, guests are transported from the city's hustle and bustle to a tranquil dining experience within the beautiful cavern. The restaurant also boasts an outdoor terrace surrounded by lush vegetation, perfect for group gatherings. Originally a home for Taino Indians and later used as a hideout by pirates, this unique setting offers a wide variety of seafood and international cuisine.
Went with my husband for a romantic dinner inside the cave, we loved it! Our waiter was very nice and attentive. The food and drinks were amazing!! I recommend the salmon, it was delicious. Overall it is a great place to go for a special occasion.
Genesis A — Google review
Drinks • Paloma: A refreshing blend with a hint of sour citrus balanced by just the right touch of sweetness. The sugar rim elevates the drink, making each sip feel playful yet refined. • Sweet & Spicy: This cocktail surprises with a smoky aroma and a smooth tea-like finish. The cinnamon warmth evokes fall vibes and fills your mouth with layered, comforting flavors. Appetizer • Pork Belly with Fried Yuca: The pork belly was a standout—crispy skin with tender meat underneath. The creamy sauce beneath (similar to mayo) added richness, while the tangy vinegar onions cut through the fat beautifully. The yuca fries were hearty and well-fried, making this a strong starter. Main Dishes • White Wine Chicken Breast: While the dish arrived slightly cooled, which was a bit disappointing, the flavors remained intact. The creamy mushroom sauce was rich and comforting, pairing well with the smooth mashed potatoes. A solid dish, though not the most memorable. • Caveman Steak: Juicy and tender with a bold presentation. The steak was satisfying, though the sides fell a bit flat—the corn was dry, and the mashed potatoes with scallions didn’t add much. Best shared between two or more, especially for those with a bigger appetite. Overall Impression The food was decent—not mind-blowing, but enjoyable. What stood out most was the ambiance and pace of service. The timing between courses allowed us to fully take in the experience, converse, and enjoy the stunning cave setting. The atmosphere alone makes this restaurant worth visiting at least once. It’s a niche dining experience that adds charm to any trip to Santo Domingo, even if the food itself doesn’t leave a lasting impression

El Mesón de la Cava is truly one of Santo Domingo’s hidden gems. Set inside a natural limestone cave formed millions of years ago, it offers a dining experience like no other. The atmosphere is both intimate and majestic -walls of stone, warm lighting, and a sense of history in every corner. Paired with fine cuisine and an excellent wine list, it’s the perfect balance of nature, sophistication, and Dominican charm. Loved it. A must-visit for anyone seeking a memorable evening in the capital. 🌆✨

El Meson de la Cava is an amazing restaurant. The place is spectacular, very romantic, and perfect for couples. I visited with a group of friends, and we really enjoyed it. The food is delicious, with excellent flavor and good wine options. The service was very good and professional.
Brian P — Google review
The service was on point, food definitely was warm and full of flavor. I recommend the octopus and Seafood pasta dish along with a Coffee Martini.. I came for the CRAB and LOBSTER and they didn’t have either sadly but instead loading up the dishes with shrimp in the seafood pasta. This is more of a. Great steak place
Brittany — Google review
The best restaurant I had been to while in DR. IT IS BEAUTIFUL! The food was delicious. The service was friendly and professional. The bathroom was clean and gorgeous. The view from outside was stunning. I wish I had the time to sit at the outdoor bar. Great vibe and I'd recommend it 100%.
Rose A — Google review
It was really really good! Service was great. Steak was great. Definitely a special occasion place because it's pricey but it's quite the experience!
Kenny P — Google review
The place is absolutely beautiful inside and outside as well, outside was more fun inside we were falling as sleep but is really romantic. The drinks are mediocre most of them tasted like medicine, nothing to desire as well the food it was ok I honestly was expecting more it was not bad, but it definitely wasn’t great. And when it came to the service was horrible, our seemed to be upset or not wanting to be there, we ask for recommendations and his answer was “whatever you want” we were not ask if the food was good or ok, we had to ask for water which was not offered. It was not what we expected from such a nice place, definitely will not recommend!

El Conuco

$$$$affordable
Dominican restaurant
El Conuco is a vibrant restaurant located in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. The establishment offers generous portions of traditional Dominican dishes such as seafood plates, pork, and plantains in a lively and colorful setting. The decor creates an ambiance reminiscent of a laid-back tropical village, immersing diners in the local culture. While some may consider it touristy, El Conuco remains popular among both locals and tourists seeking authentic Dominican cuisine.
I HIGHLY recommend this place if you're looking for an authentic Dominican restaurant! The vibes, the decor, the food, the service.. all 10/10! The food was delicious, full of flavor, and good portions. The servers were so sweet and helpful. I can't wait to return to DR to dine here again!
Natasha M — Google review
Really authentic and affordable Dominican food. The service is great but can be a challenge if you don't speak Spanish. The cream sauce Mofongo is 🔥🔥. La Bandera with chicken or beef and rice and beans was delicious too. This place also has good drinks. Good place for a large group.
De'Von W — Google review
Fancy typical food. Nice place with low volume music. You can choose between air conditioning or ambient temperature.
Ricardo P — Google review
Very good flavors overall. I know some say the portions are huge, but I found mine on the smaller side, perhaps because it was so delicious. I first visited El Conuco as a child almost 35 years ago. I'm glad it's still around and doing well.
Fausto T — Google review
The food was great! The decor was amazing and service was excellent. We even got an unexpected show! We were so happy with this visit and will be back again!
Inocencia O — Google review
I want to thank you for the warm welcome we received from the parking area—it was truly a great start. However, we noticed there were few staff members available, which made the service a bit slower than expected. The attention, though friendly, didn’t have the same agility as in previous visits. Regarding the food, we felt that on this occasion it didn’t meet the same quality level as before. I’m confident that with a few adjustments, you can return to providing the excellent experience we’ve come to expect from you.
Jose P — Google review
Great atmosphere, a little dark inside when eating, but you can say it's because it's a conuco. Food and drinks were good. They can be a little short staffed and food may be late to your table, but overall great customer service and experience with family/friends. The delayed food gives you time to catch up and talk so be prepared to wait if you go really hungry because it will seem like it takes forever! Very family oriented atmosphere, loved to see all aspects of Dominican culture in the decorations. A must go!

Boca Marina

$$$$expensive
Restaurant
Boca Marina is a charming restaurant located in Boca Chica, offering a comfortable and inviting atmosphere with top-notch service. The restaurant boasts delectable dishes such as cravette and Italian pasta, featuring an array of seafood options. Guests can enjoy the picturesque ocean views while indulging in their meals. The tropical ambiance and hospitable staff further enhance the dining experience.
Amazing views, and fantastic fresh food. It's definitely on the pricey side, but the views, great food and access to the beach justify the cost. We'll definitely make sure to come back.
Fausto T — Google review
My girlfriend and I recently dined at Boca Marina, and while the food was delicious—beautifully prepared and full of flavor—the experience was unfortunately overshadowed by the service. For a restaurant with such high price points, I expected a level of attentiveness and professionalism that simply wasn’t there. We waiting 20 minutes for a server to come take our order and 45 minutes for our starters to come.(we got the Octopus Carpaccio and Shrimp cocktail). From long wait times to inattentive staff, the service felt disorganized and indifferent. It was disappointing, especially because the quality of the food showed real culinary talent. With prices in this range, exceptional service should be part of the package, not a luxury. I waited 15 minutes for a beer which never showed up which then lead me to getting the check. I hope management takes this feedback seriously, because the kitchen clearly has something special going on. If the service were brought up to the same standard, this place could truly be outstanding.
Ivanhoe L — Google review
Boca Marina is a true gem for seafood lovers. The dishes are fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. It’s best to visit during the day to enjoy a swim in the ocean, while in the evening, it’s perfect to watch the sunset with a glass of wine or a fine whiskey and a cigar. The ambiance is cozy and inviting.
Елена М — Google review
Place is beautiful, food is tasty and staff is so friendly. The water is clear and is so safe to swim there.
Suany G — Google review
I love DR ♥️ but I don’t like Santo Domingo. The place wishes it could be like Santiago. Was traveling back through SDQ so decided to take kiddos to Boca Chica. After reading so many awesome reviews of this place I figured I couldn’t go wrong 😑 BUT I was wrong. Don’t get me wrong the place is gorgeous for pictures. Perfect backdrop 🥰 My bad review is not due to the food as we didn't even get our food. It’s the horrendous service they offer. We had a server come and take our order. We were hungry so ordered appetizers and drinks and also added our main course. Soooo 40 minutes later….. still no drinks - it was a morir soñando and club soda. Seriously not that difficult but apparently for our waiter it was. I knew I couldn’t expect too much as the table next to us had asked their waiter for water more than 2x while we were there. Finally I had to call him over and ask for our appetizers and drinks. So he shows up with a glass melted of ice and my club soda that was more water and two glasses of orange juice. Only in my country— 🤣he tells me - We are out of milk so I owe you the milk for next time but I brought you the orange juice!!! 🤦🏽‍♀️ I told him - of course NOT- take your juice back it’s not what I ordered more than 45 minutes ago. I told him to cancel our order and we were leaving. I have never just walked out of a place and I truly hated doing that but the service was just a complete disaster and I honestly knew then that the food couldn’t be any better. For pictures - go and enjoy the view - for anything else - don’t waste your time .
Johanna P — Google review
There are multiple reasons why you shouldn’t visit this place. First the food is not amazing but I have to say it is decent (overpriced) the service is terrible. Staff is not nice or friendly and they rush you to order, also there’s NO DRINKS MENU/PRICE which makes me think they charge whatever they want depending on your nationality. There’s no even ambience music. Be nicer to your tourist they will appreciate that.
David H — Google review
Our visit to Boca Marina was a complete disaster from start to finish. Despite the nice scenery, the service and food were some of the worst I’ve ever experienced. We waited over an hour and a half for our food to arrive, and when it finally did, it was freezing cold. Not lukewarm—ice cold. We had ordered sushi as an appetizer, which showed up five minutes before our cold entrees. The sushi itself was inedible: the rice was hard, dry, and tasted like it had been sitting out all day. The piña coladas were underwhelming and mediocre at best. We finished our drinks within 10 minutes of being seated, and no one ever checked back to offer a second round or even ask if we wanted water. In fact, we didn’t get any water until we specifically asked for it right before leaving. To make matters worse, the server kept giving us false timelines for when our food would be ready, stringing us along the whole night. And in the middle of all this, they randomly moved our table—for no apparent reason. When the check came, they still expected us to pay full price until we had to push to have the cold entrées comped, which should have been automatic given the situation. What’s worse is that we had extremely simple meals that should not have taken anywhere near that long. After we complained about the temperature, replacement dishes were brought out in under 60 seconds, which left us even more confused about what was going on in the kitchen the whole time. In total, we wasted more than three hours at this restaurant. It’s nothing like the curated image it has on social media. The only good thing here is the view, but trust me—it’s not worth the frustration, poor service, and awful food. I absolutely would not recommend Boca Marina to anyone.
Lexie Q — Google review
The venue itself was breathtaking, a truly stunning backdrop for an evening. However, the service was a significant letdown, detracting from the overall experience. A highlight of the meal was undoubtedly the Dominican sushi, chicken fajitas, and shrimp a la vinagreta – each dish bursting with vibrant, delicious flavors. Unfortunately, the chicharrón de pollo and tostones didn't live up to the same standard. The chicken was bland, lacking any seasoning in the meat or breading, and the tostones were crying out for that crucial saltwater soak to give them their characteristic crunch and taste. While the shrimp a la plancha offered a decent portion, it arrived overcooked, rubbery, and utterly unmemorable.

Barra Payán

$$$$cheap
Sandwich shop
Barra Payán is a popular spot known for its delicious toasted sandwiches and refreshing Dominican batidas or fruit milkshakes. It's a local favorite with an authentic atmosphere and affordable prices. The bakery next door is also worth checking out. Visitors rave about the tasty chicken burger, crispy fries, and the nostalgic feeling of enjoying classic childhood sandwiches. The family-owned business has stood the test of time, offering a taste of traditional Dominican flavors in every bite.
Best street food so far. We had a quick bite and stuck to basic choices. Jamon con queso and Barra Payán special with a fresh fruit drink. A must try for foodies! We ordered from the car and ate in the car making it a great experience. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

My grandpa always used to talk about this place. Whenever I go I feel like in a 50's movie…the food is amazing, and the milkshakes are bombbb. I would recommend the “Lechoza Milkshake” with Carnation since it’s one of my favs.

Great coffee spot right on the water! A spot where you find locals! If a local go there, you know you are at the right place!!
Tatyana S — Google review
The food was amazing. I understand all of the positive reviews. I initially walked past this place looking for another restaurant. They were well lit, with a decent sized crowd; so I decided to stop by. I do not regret my decision at all. I had the chicken burger, and it was fire. The bun was warm and toasted. The toppings were fresh and crispy. The fries were really good too. I’ll have to come back, and try some of their other items.
Marlon U — Google review
Good cheap food but terrible service and the kitchen staff needs to go back to elementary school to learn not to put hot foods in styrofoam, the stupidity is unreal, I hope the managers have a fun time managing these children, the cook put the fries in the container and it melted the container, absolutely disgusting and the staff didn’t do anything about it, terrible service
G T — Google review
The deli turkey meat was not the best quality but it was edible, they have great sandwiches and options of them, great natrual juice/batida selection also. I will return
Ali — Google review
Great! Quick and big sandwiches with delicious juices from tropical fruits with or without milk. Prices are around $4 dollars a sandwich and juice are very reasonable priced. You can tell that they are natural and are fresh cold but without all of it is juice. Excelent breakfast, lunch, dinner or snack!

I was curious about their new "tres golpes" which consists of Mangu with fried; eggs, cheese and salami. Just absolutely amazing. The Mangu was soft and the fried things weren't greasy, also it had onions on top. It is super cheap and it is enough to feed 2 people who don't eat lots. I shared it with a friend... Here I add the picture. Well... They are lot more than sandwiches 😋

Jalao

$$$$affordable
Dominican restaurant
Jalao, located in the Colonial City of Santo Domingo, is a vibrant spot offering live Dominican music performances and occasional dance lessons. Nearby, Buche Perico hosts live jazz acts on its outdoor terrace. The restaurant is known for its Pescado con coco, a delectable fish with coconut sauce. Visitors rave about the energetic atmosphere and lively music that had everyone cheering and dancing.
We had stopped by walking on Saturday night due to vibe atmosphere around the park and opinion on the Google maps. Cocktails were good, we only had nachos with guacamole and it was all right, not enough guacamole more meaty than vegetarian. Not honestly my type of the snacks. Staff was super well behave and professional.
Justyna B — Google review
We ordered two simple cocktail- aperol spritz and sangria, both were soso. 450 for an aperol spritz is also quite pricey bc it’s a touristy area, but we don’t mind paying if it was decent as our kid needs a bit of rest around here. The sweet potato was really blend and tasteless, but I don’t know if it’s normal for local food preference. But for me, it was really too dry. The avocado chips was great for my son to try and I like the shrimp ceviche even it was a bit too sweet & milky, I’m willing to try it as long as it was fresh. They were kids friendly and environment was nice. The musician in the park will come up to you for money even you didn’t want to listen to the music, so if you sit in the front part of the restaurant during the busy tourist season, they are bound to stop by. Again, just keep some changes if you appreciate the music. So it’s a very busy plaza that has a lot to go on, can be nice to sit outside to enjoy the crowd. Hope they can improve the cocktail
Jaz C — Google review
This restaurant is in La Zona Colonial, while the location is perfect. The service is lacking. I had to seek assistance several times, and the food was just ok. It is a very big and beautiful restaurant though with good music. If they could improve their service and quality of food it would be a great place to visit
Betty D — Google review
This is in a lovely location, in the colonial zone with lots of fun activity. Apparently there's live music later on but we were there early (5:30pm) The service was excellent, we had a sandwich, which was fine, but the fries were very good. We also had the sancocho, which was also good. Dessert was a coconut cake with ice cream and strawberries which was nice.
Michelle M — Google review
The food was unfortunately terrible. There were three of us dining and we all ordered different dishes. The shrimp stew: "Shrimp Creole" with peppers had only been warmed up and the shrimp were completely dry and long overcooked. The Cordon Bleu Chicken was also completely dry and we had to send it back. And then they brought us a new one, but unfortunately it had also been kept warm and was completely dry. And the chicken: "Medio Pollo Adobado" was unfortunately far too dry, overcooked and in parts even black. The service, on the other hand, was excellent. For the money we spent at the restaurant, it's not worth it! The food looks okay but the taste and quality are a complete disappointment!
Gerhard S — Google review
Gets a little crowded at the entrance, but once inside (depending on the time, for us it was 9:15 p.m.) you're greeted to live music, great food and service... nice atmosphere...
Jeff O — Google review
Not too bad, local food - very nice interior design, and drink options. Highly recommend as it is right across from the church, with reasonable prices too.
Ethan B — Google review
I visited this restaurant with my family and a few locals who were eager to try it. Although the restaurant was mostly empty, we waited quite a while before anyone came to take our order. Unfortunately, the Cordon Bleu was the worst I ever tried, extremely dry and bland, barely edible even with the sauce. I wouldn't recommend it. I discreetly signaled that I did not enjoy the meal, with my utensils in a specific way on the plate. But it took the waiter a while to go check on us. He went straight to the person that finished their food to ask if everything was okay, when we were getting ready to ask for a check. That said, the rest of my group enjoyed their meals—the pasta, sancocho, arroz con pollo, and chicken wings were well received, especially by the locals in our party ( they even took my untouched cordon blue, as they were excited to try it).

Neptuno's Club Restaurant

Restaurant
Neptuno's Club Restaurant is a top-rated dining spot in Boca Chica, offering a mix of Caribbean classics, seafood, and international cuisine. The restaurant caters to vegetarian and vegan diners as well. While the food is highly praised for its quality, some visitors find the prices to be on the higher side. However, many appreciate the delicious dishes such as calamari, tostones, dumplings, and yucca fries.
The ambience truly cannot be beat. It was such a beautiful restaurant overlooking the water. And our waiter was super nice. The food was amazing although a bit pricey. Everyone should be aware that there is a 30% added tax to the final bill.

Neptuno’s Club is a fantastic spot for seafood lovers. The atmosphere is lively and welcoming, perfect for both a relaxed lunch or a fun evening out. Their fresh seafood dishes are beautifully presented and full of flavor. The staff is attentive and professional, making you feel well taken care of. Highly recommended for a memorable dining experience. We spent a few hours completely unaware of time, watching the sunset. I walked down the steps into the ocean and saw many different fish. The restaurant is right on the water, and the experience was truly extraordinary😍

Restaurant is pretty, even tho is under renovations now, the view and the beach there are the best

Great vibe and love the view! Perfect because you are not having to deal with locals trying to sell you items every five seconds. Its relaxing and peaceful

Our experience at this restaurant was extremely disappointing. I went with 6 family members, expecting to enjoy a nice meal by the sea, but from the moment we arrived, things went downhill. First, the entrance policy is completely absurd: two of my relatives were wearing closed Crocs sandals, and in order to be allowed in, the staff required them to remove their socks. Nobody could give us a reasonable explanation for this rule. How is it possible that a restaurant located literally on the beach does not allow this kind of footwear? It makes no sense at all. Second—and most importantly—the food was terrible. We ordered 6 different dishes, and every single one was poorly prepared, tasteless, and low quality. None of us could finish our meals. Paying high prices for food this bad, along with such disrespect toward customers, is simply unacceptable. In conclusion: if you want to waste your money and leave disappointed, go to Neptuno . But if you are truly looking for good food, good service, and a pleasant experience, this is definitely NOT the place.

What an amazing spot! From the moment we arrived, the staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming. The food was excellent, and we were impressed that the chef personally came out to talk with us about the sourcing of the proteins used in their dishes—a thoughtful touch that shows real pride in their craft. The setting is absolutely stunning. The restaurant has a beautiful open layout with steps leading directly into crystal-clear water, so you can literally go for a swim right next to your table. The atmosphere was bright, inviting, and filled with positive energy, making it the perfect place to relax and enjoy a meal. The service was just as impressive—they even changed our plates halfway through the meal to keep everything fresh and clean. It’s those little details that make the experience truly exceptional. I would definitely come back again and highly recommend this place to anyone looking for great food, outstanding service, and an unforgettable view.

Honestly one of the best restaurants I've ever eaten when considering food quality, price, atmosphere, and service. I would caution, that by DR standards this place is very expensive. We spent $700 USD for 8 people. A similar caliber restaurant in a US resort town would likely have been closer to $2500. I thought the food was amazing, especially the ceviche mix to. The restaurant was stunning. We went after dark and the outside dining was perfect. During the day you can take a quick swim and enjoy the on-site showers to rinse off. The chef and owner both took time to chat with us about the restaurant, the area, and of course baseball.

Boca Chica, Dominican Republic is a international travel destination. Neptuno’s Club Restaurant located on Boca Chica is a wonderful destination to visit any day of the year. Beautiful food over the water of the ocean.

Restaurante Filigrana Santo Domingo

Restaurant
Restaurante Filigrana Santo Domingo is an upscale dining spot with stunning ocean views and elegant decor. It offers a fine dining experience featuring Mediterranean cuisine and an impressive selection of wines and spirits. The restaurant boasts an award-winning wine cellar and a knowledgeable sommelier, recognized by Wine Spectator in 2017. Guests can enjoy their meal while taking in the breathtaking ocean view from the window-side tables or the outdoor balcony.
Service was top notch, very attentive and gracious to our lack of speaking Spanish. The food was excellent! The 1/2 bottles of wine are perfect for my wife who likes only white and myself, who likes only red. Be ready to spend $100 per person, but it is worth it. Great ocean view, quiet atmosphere. Very nice evening.

Dominican Republic 🇩🇴 2022 Amazing service with an even better view. Wasn't busy probably because of covid but it's very easy to make a reservation and request a table by the window which has an ocean view. There is also a balcony for smokers or anyone who wants to eat outdoors. I highly recommend you order the mushrooms under sides. Was absolutely fantastic. Such intense flavors. They also have glass wine you just have to ask. Restaurant on the 5th floor.

The view from the restaurant and the service are great. However, considering the price you pay, you could expect more from the food. It's good but you could find better in that price range. I'm a bit disappointed. Come here for the view.

This is an amazing restaurant located in Catalonia Hotel, a lovely atmosphere with soft colors, warm lighting, and a great view. Great high quality food, well presented and well executed. Portions are ample and creative. The restaurant provides a variety of wonderful starters to start with.

Filigrana gave a really strong start with friendly hostesses and servers. The complimentary selection of five breads baked in house made a real positive impression. I especially enjoyed the whole grain "pan integral." I enjoyed the salad with tuna, although the lettuce served more as garnish. Filigrana provided two complimentary light appetizers that I really enjoyed, I think they were chef creations. My friend's steak tasted fabulous. My seafood rice dish didn't. The shrimp tasted mealy and the rice was meh. The fried chocolate balls and streudel both tasted yummy. So in addition to the mealy shrimp, the other problem was that the receipt didn't match the menu price for one of the items. When I brought this to the attention of the waiter, he told me it was because they hadn't updated the menus. He said I still needed to pay the higher price. I told him it would be more appropriate if the restaurant charged what the menu said the price would be when I ordered it. He left, and the manager said we could pay the price from the menu. Needing to argue in order to pay the menu price left a bad taste in my mouth

The Market

Restaurant
Located in the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Punta Cana, The Market is a buffet-style restaurant that offers a casual dining experience. It caters to those who struggle with making food decisions and aims to please both vegans and non-vegans. The menu includes gluten-free options such as pasta, pizza, and burgers. Despite slightly slower service, the hospitality is excellent. Guests have praised the generous portion sizes and delicious flavors of the food.
Great pumpkin soup fantastic 12 oz ribeye and the mero al pesto was delightful inside intercontinental hotel

Very big portions. Nice presentation. Decent taste. Not the best food I have tasted but not the worse either. It was okay. Nice enviorment inside of the intercontinental hotel. Desserts where okay. Ice cream was horrible but that seems to be a common everywhere in DR that is not an icecream shop.

Thoroughly enjoyed the food offerings at The Market. There are gluten free pasta, pizza and burger options. I opted for the burger and enjoyed every bite! As other reviews noted, the service is a bit slower than Americans may expect, but the hospitality is top notch!

The serving was surprisingly big and very tasty. The staff is welcome and speaks English very well. Also, the great part is that temperature is nice and not cold.

Great service (assisted by Joel), delicious food, enjoyable atmosphere. (Sorry - only took a picture of my club sandwich)

Excellent spot for a breakfast buffet or a breakfast burrito to go! The burrito is a 10, with steak, eggs and avocado. Really loved it!
Jason P — Google review
Unless you don't want to leave the hotel, there is no reason to go to this restaurant for a meal. My food was surprisingly lousy - I was expecting at least high quality ingredients and foods cooked correctly given that it is situated inside a high-end hotel. The desserts looked nice, but if the flan is any indication of the rest, I would avoid those as well.
Tom A — Google review
This is a hotel restaurant in the intercontinental so there are some added taxes. The food was okay but it was cold. The pancakes we're not tasty. The fresh orange juice was not good. Overall not worth the value for the money.

Las Américas International Airport

International airport
Airport
Las Américas International Airport, situated in Santo Domingo, serves as the primary airport for the capital city and is the largest in the Caribbean region. Handling around 3.5 million passengers in 2015, it ranks as the second busiest after Punta Cana International Airport. The airport operates direct international flights from various cities including Miami, Panama, and France. Visitors have praised its safety measures and efficient staff, making it a comfortable experience for solo travelers and families alike.
I had an overall very pleasant visit to Las Americas International Airport. The check in process for our baggage was relatively smooth and simple, save for a glitch in the eticket website. Moving through customs and TSA was quick, and painless as well. The airport is nice and clean and staff is as helpful as can be, given the language barrier. I would travel through here again.

The airport looked modern was clean and aesthetically pleasing. I was catching a connecting flight here. The connecting process was a bit confusing, however, there were personnel around to ask questions. I had to go through the entire check out process, which includes collecting my luggage, and then check in for the connecting flight. The check in line was long, but the process was smooth. Several shops were located inside the departure lounge where you can purchase souvenirs, gifts, confectionaries, local and international foods, liquors etc. Prices were a bit high in the airport, I paid US$3.50 for a small bottle of water. I heard other people complaining about the prices as well. We had to take a but to access the plane. The wait for the bus was a little lengthy because the bus(es) had to make several trips. The overall experience was good though.

Modern airport with friendly staff – signage could be better I recently traveled through Las Américas International Airport and overall had a good experience. The arrivals hall was quite crowded, and immigration took some time – but that's mainly because every officer takes their job seriously. Still, everyone was very polite and friendly throughout the process. Baggage claim was a bit chaotic and could use better air conditioning, but it worked. A useful tip: if you're arriving on a long-haul flight, check both sides of the baggage belts – sometimes luggage shows up where you don’t expect it. The signage in the arrivals area could definitely be improved. If it's your first time at this airport, you’ll likely need to ask for directions more than once. However, a big plus are the self-service terminals throughout the terminal that help you fill out your e-ticket – very handy and efficient. Once past immigration, both the passport control and security checks were incredibly fast and the staff remained friendly and professional. Shops inside the terminal are a bit pricey – but that’s something you come to expect at airports. Unfortunately, the smoking area was closed during my visit, which was a bit disappointing. Bottom line: Las Américas is a modern airport with friendly, professional staff. A little better signage would go a long way in improving the experience for first-time visitors.

For the traffic coming into and out of this airport, given the size of the capital and country, it is an extremely clean and well-maintained airport. There are plenty of restaurants, bars, and shops to wander through if you’re there early (or your flight is delayed). The staff is friendly and helpful. Customs was a little awkward in places, but nothing detrimental or unpleasant.
Nick S — Google review
The airport is functional and has improved over time, but the public café with a view of the runway is truly missed. It was a unique spot to watch planes take off and land. Hopefully, they bring something like that back.

Horrible experience !! My flight was at 7:40pm , arrived at the airport at 6pm . Had time to grab something to eat . Around 7:15 started walking tour gate and got to the gate by 7:20 airport attendant closed gate telling us that is closed. I didn’t receive any text or hear any announcements about flight or gate closing . Very horrible experience at this airport missed my flight because attendant closed gate 20mins early

Sometimes long queues and waiting time. Modern airport; free WiFi. Several restaurants, shops, and duty free shops.

Horrific experience of power outage at the airport Sept 21, 2025. No power for over 5 hours, arrived 15 minutes after it went out. Ultimately had to book another flight that costs $$$$ and pay for taxi to LRM to guarantee I could leave the country that day. Half my group had to stay an extra night in Santo Domingo. The airport staff knew nothing, so had no info on what to do. No water, not able to use credit cards, no lights in bathrooms and unable to flush. Will warn everyone I know about this experience and to never use this airport.
