Hacienda Laborcilla

$$$$expensive
Restaurant
Nestled within the enchanting walls of a fully restored 18th-century hacienda, Hacienda Laborcilla offers a delightful dining experience that beautifully blends French, Mexican, and international cuisines. The ambiance is simply magical, featuring lush outdoor seating surrounded by greenery and a charming fountain that adds to its allure. This family-friendly eatery is perfect for weekend gatherings or special celebrations. While the prices are on the higher side, they remain reasonable considering the variety offered—especially in cocktails and mocktails.
I visit Queretaro often and I always visit Hacienda Laborcilla. Overall, this is just the most Beautiful restaurant. The food and service are Fantastic!!! El Mejor Lugar!!! To me the best part is the bar staff and when you do need a drink, just ask for Nash (Sr Sommelier) or Aldo (Jr Sommelier) as they will take care of you, helping make sure you get the Best Experience Ever!
Ari H — Google review
Awesome location. Couldn’t be better when the weather is nice. Food is not cheap but considering quality, service and location more than reasonable. Just wine is a little too expensive. 100% recommended.
Choloepus — Google review
This is one of the most beautiful restaurants that I have ever eaten at. It has an amazing ambiance and the food tops it all. The servers were attentive and knowledgeable and I had one of the best dining experiences of my life. We finished our night out with an after dinner drink at the Carter bar and left happy and confirmed
Michael B — Google review
Excellent place to have breakfast. Chilaquiles and enchiladas verdes were great. Both needed some salt but I understand why they made them that way.
David T — Google review
***This review is exclusively from the Sunday breakfast. This place was such a great discovery, from the moment you enter, you’re wowed with the nice atmosphere, the plants, the fountain. The food is really good, a lot of Mexican options for breakfast, pastries and coffee. We had the enchiladas and enfrijoladas and both were great. One of the highlights for me was the service, really they try to make you happy and comfortable in every possible way. Highly recommend it, just make a reservation in advance to avoid waiting!
Jorge C — Google review
I highly recommend the food from this place. Their salmon is the best around Queretaro. The atmosphere and the architecture of this restaurant is pretty unique, it feels like you are in Europe that you forget you are in Mexico. The only downside is the waiters are requesting a mandatory 20% tip.
Pedro A — Google review
Great food, amazing atmosphere. Like no other restaurant. Just beautiful. Worth a trip if you're in the Queretaro area.
Mike P — Google review
Frequent visitor to Queretaro but first time visiting Hacienda LaBorcilla. I had the pleasure of tasting the Bagel with Smoked Salmon. It was exceptionally tasty. It had a great balance of smoked salmon with guacamole and sauce. Service wise, I've worked in fine dinning for 15 years and LaBorcilla is up there in service. Daniel E. Was great and attentive with a sense of humor. There is an abundance of staff but all work as a team to meet guest expectations. Very clean and with very nice hacienda type style. I really couldn't find anything negative about LaBorcilla. Will come back on my next visit.

$$$$affordable
Mexican restaurant
El Cardenal is a renowned restaurant with multiple locations in Mexico City, but the original branch on Calle Palma stands out for its classic Mexican cuisine and elegant ambiance. The restaurant has been revitalized by the founder's grandchildren, offering a diverse menu that showcases traditional and modern Mexican dishes.
Service was superb food was delish. We had their ant larvae (escamoles) in butter -delish and their squash flower wrapped cheese great starters. Also had cup of their Purslane soup (Verdolagas)and their beef in a pricking pear sauce, all very tasty. Highly recommend and would come again.
Angel — Google review
Very cool multi floor restaurant serving traditional breakfast and brunch options. Fresh pastries and a large variety of egg dishes, it was difficult to settle on one as I wanted to try a few. Tried eggs with the maguey 'worm' sauce. Scrambled eggs in a flavorful deep red and smokey sauce. Excellent service in a neat historical building.
Chris L — Google review
Elegant lunch spot with great service and perfect location We had lunch at El Cardenal after visiting the Zócalo, and it was a lovely experience overall. The location is ideal right in the heart of the historic center and the interior is elegant, spacious, and beautifully maintained. It really elevates the dining experience. The service was excellent attentive, professional, and warm. You can tell they take pride in offering a refined yet welcoming atmosphere. As for the food, it was good and satisfying, though not particularly standout. Still, for its prime location, polished interior, and top-tier service, El Cardenal earns a solid 4 stars. A great choice if you're looking for a comfortable and classic Mexican dining experience near the city’s most iconic sights.
Amin S — Google review
The place is super busy, and unfortunately, the food was quite tasteless with very limited vegetarian options. On the positive side, the bread was delicious and the hot chocolate is definitely a must-try. Communication can be a bit difficult since no one speaks English. Overall, a mixed experience.
Hamoon R — Google review
They brought out some galletas and bread with some salsa. I ordered the quesadillas with squash blossoms, they were spectacular. The main was a lamb shoulder barbacoa style, when I say fall of the bone, I mean the bone pulled out clean. Great flavors, not too spicy. Epic meal.
Dan A — Google review
Amazing restaurant that overs great food, service, and a great atmosphere. There was a little bit of a wait to get in, however the food made up for it. I highly recommend coming here and if you do you won’t regret
Sebastian K — Google review
Amazing breakfast/brunch! Make a reservation! Weekends get very busy.
Hitesh S — Google review
Waited about an hour starting at 11:30. Line was a bit messy - hard to tell who was waiting to put their names in vs waiting for their names to be called - but once we were seated, we were able to order right away. We enjoyed delicious hot chocolate and two variations of chilaquiles. Felt very happy that we waited. Service was quick and professional! We were seated on the bottom level which was nice and quiet.

Rosa Negra

$$$$very expensive
Latin American restaurant
Nestled on the iconic Masaryk Avenue, Rosa Negra Polanco has quickly established itself as a must-visit destination since its grand opening in April 2017. This vibrant restaurant is renowned for its chic decor and lively atmosphere, enhanced by the beats of a resident DJ that keep the energy high throughout the night. The terrace offers an inviting view of the bustling avenue below, making it a perfect spot to soak in the dynamic vibe of Polanco.
Thank you for an amazing experience. We loved the entire vibe, the food was excellent, music added a great ambiance and we enjoyed the energy of the sparklers, sax player and bongos! What a special experience. Thanks for the anniversary champagne - nice touch. We were there 4 hours and didn’t want the night to end.
Kelly M — Google review
Great atmosphere to party! Everyone were having a great time. Drinks were fabulous with great presentation. Loved 3/4 dishes we got - did not like the sea urchin carpaccio. The service was not great. The waiters were so distracted by everyone dancing that they messed up the order of the food, could not refill drinks, switch our plates, or clear dirty dishes. All in all an enjoyable experience, but wish the waiters would be more attentive even with all the excitement. Totally recommend for bach parties or bdays, esp in larger groups!
Roshni S — Google review
Rosa Negra's calm ambient environment, and knowledgeable, well mannered staff have you met with respect. The professionalism in the chefs and presentation of the Kobe beef was nothing to forget, the flavor itself melts in your mouth. Some how the chefs magic still has you remembering the ceviche appetizer, the pan and how warm and unique tasting it was. I felt completely satisfied with every dish and hospitality at what felt and tasted like a high end experience. 10/10 recommend eating at the Rosa Negra with your loved ones to remember with.
Raymond T — Google review
osa Negra in Polanco was incredible. Everything we had was full of flavor, from the grilled vegetables to the salmon — every dish was perfectly seasoned and cooked just right. The atmosphere matched the food, lively but still upscale and comfortable. We had a reservation, which I definitely recommend because it’s easy to see how this place fills up fast, especially on weekends. Overall, an amazing dining experience start to finish.
Bryce T — Google review
This is a place of song and dance. Not food and service. We initially ordered a salad. It came out and we finished it before our waiter ever came back to take our order. We flagged down a manager or captain who took our order. We got the Hamachi, the Tuna Tartare, the Spicy Octopus and a New York. The Hamchi was ok. The Tuna Tartare was quite good. My drink was empty for the last 25 minutes of the meal. They never offered to fill it as only runners came to the table. Our waiter was no where to be found. My fiance liked the Spicy Octopus. We had to ask multiple times for limes for her. As for my New York... It first came out as a Filet. They acknowledged their mistake. About 10 minutes later I had a New York in front of me. I asked for it medium. They asked me to cut it to check. It was rare. Not even medium rare. They then tried to argue with me it was medium. It was closer to almost blue rare. They said they were going to cook it further at the table, whatever that meant. I was over the whole experience at this point. I asked for them to just take it off the bill and sent it back. This is an expensive restaurant. Sure, there was a guy with fire and some guy playing the bongos but that is not at all why we came. This was some of the worst service I have had. You can get better food and significantly better service for half the price all across Mexico City. Save your money.
Zach O — Google review
Main course leaves a bit to be desired BUT the appetizers and drinks will have me going back on repeat. Music was a vibe and all the staff gets involved when it's time for a show. Definitely recommend this for a bit of fun and food. Nice bathrooms as well.
E S — Google review
Superb and friendly service. Their lack of proficiency in the English language is compensated by their enthusiasm and willingness to help. The food is prepared fresh and rather quick. Decent quantity, great presentation and very tasty. Ambient music is tad loud but their choice of songs is good. They even performed when the song love is in the air was playing. All in all, worth every dime and more.

Speechless. One of the most special places I have visited in Mexico. Perfect for birthday celebrations. Ask for the Esfera de Chocolate for one of the most amazing desserts ever.

Parole

$$$$expensive
Italian restaurant
Parole, an Italian restaurant located in Polanco, offers a unique and distinctive experience. The restaurant not only provides a wonderful selection of Italian cuisine but also boasts a beautiful contemporary design space that frequently hosts artistic events and live music. Situated across from Parque Lincoln, it guarantees a vibrant and exclusive evening. The cuisine at Parole is deeply rooted in tradition, emphasizing the quality and freshness of its ingredients.
We came with a group of 16 for a birthday, and it felt like the whole restaurant was celebrating with us. The food was great, but the service truly stood out—attentive, warm, and on point. The energy was festive, and the surprise dance party mid-dinner? Iconic. If you’re into good food and great vibes, this place delivers. Thank you Caesar, our main host, for a memorable experience
G G — Google review
Parole Polanco is one of those restaurants that completely exceeds expectations — from the atmosphere to the food to even the smallest details. The space is absolutely stunning, with a warm, romantic glow that makes it perfect for a date night or special occasion. Between the music, decor, and soft lighting, it feels like an experience rather than just a dinner. To start, they brought out a focaccia and another type of warm bread for the table, served with a flavorful dipping sauce that immediately set the tone for how thoughtful and well-curated everything would be. For mains, I ordered the Spicy Vodka Rigatoni and the Gnocchi Gorgonzola — both were fantastic. The rigatoni had just the right amount of spice and creaminess, rich but not overwhelming, while the gnocchi was perfectly soft and pillowy with a balanced, creamy gorgonzola sauce that was indulgent but refined. Even the restrooms were beautifully designed, which says a lot about the attention to detail here — every corner of the restaurant feels intentional and well-thought-out. The service was attentive without being intrusive, and the entire dining experience felt elevated yet comfortable. Overall, Parole Polanco is a must-visit in Mexico City for anyone looking to enjoy great Italian food in a gorgeous, romantic setting. Highly recommend making a reservation in advance, especially if you want a seat in the garden area.
Hifsah A — Google review
Ultimately, I did not enjoy our experience. The food was exceptional and the dinning area was gorgeous. It was the overall service environment and live entertainment that undermined the experience. While the staff was exceptionally knowledgeable, attentive and professional, the hectic speed they ALL moved at created uncomfortable chaos that overshadowed the meal. While the live entertainment, an authentic Italian singer and a violinist, was captivating and highly entertaining, the wait staff unfortunately engaged the patrons, literally dragging them into a raucous event concluding with table top dancing.
Hank B — Google review
Amazing dinner experience! The food was great, the servers were incredibly attentive and friendly, and the vibe was fun!! I would recommend this place to anyone! Jacobo and Marco were great! Both super friendly and made our dinner unforgettable.
Karen C — Google review
The best experience I’ve ever had in a restaurant. No exaggeration. Amazing service, super attentive. Food and drinks were even better than expected. My favorite drink was definitely the passion fruit marg (I don’t even like margs) and it was so good. And the spicy vodka rigatoni was perfection in itself
Hannah C — Google review
such a beautiful restaurant and the staff was so fun. i went on a date here with my boyfriend and we thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience. i recommend the beef carpaccio as an appetizer it was so yummy. gustavo and jacobo made sure our glasses were constantly filled with champagne, we had a lovely dinner here.
Lauren T — Google review
My first meal in Mexico City was amazing. The service was wonderful. Moises was our server and he was polite, helpful, amazing, and friendly. We heard some amazing live music, I had the most wonderful pasta dishes, and tried some really excellent wine from Mexico. We will definitely be back.

Beef carpaccio was absolutely amazing, atmosphere is stunning right on the park. The weather was beautiful. The windows were open and it felt like I was eating outside in Europe.

Porfirio's Masaryk

$$$$expensive
Mexican restaurant
Porfirio's Masaryk is part of the Grupo Andersons restaurant group in Mexico, known for its exceptional Mexican cuisine that combines authentic home cooking with regional flavors from across the country. The restaurant offers live mariachi music in the evenings, creating a lively atmosphere to accompany the delicious food. With locations in Toreo, Coapa, Polanco, and Coyoacan, Porfirio's provides outdoor areas where patrons can dine with their pets.
This Mexican restaurant is located in a bustling area and is very easy to find. The exterior and interior design are both excellent. All the dishes are incredibly delicious. The servers work with joy and help make the dining experience very comfortable. If I visit Mexico again in the future, I would definitely love to come back to this restaurant.
Leon S — Google review
Food is ok, a bit in the cheap side, (very little amounts of food) drinks are good, a bit overpriced if you ask me, for authentic Mexican food this place is ok, I mean being in the heart of Mexico city I was actually expecting more, the atmosphere is nice and music is too loud is you're planning to speak without screaming. Our waiter was rude at some point and messed up our steak temperature for three dishes, the manager had to be involved to fix the steak temperatures, it was a mess but oh well. It is what it is.
Hugo J — Google review
I do not understand why this place has such good reviews. We spent 10 days in CDMX and chose this place for our last dinner. It was the most disappointing meal we had on our entire trip. The guacamole and street corn were good, but not great. Our entrees were disappointing. The chille relleno was mushy and bland. The picanha steak was tough, chewy and needed salt. Even the free dessert they bring to the table was bland and tasted like chemicals. Just not a good meal at all. From our experience, there are much better places to eat that cost a lot less money.
David F — Google review
A very enjoyable meal and drinks. The atmosphere was very likely with lighting and music. Ulysses and Jair made the evening extra special with their attentiveness and attention to detail. They came back often and made wonderful suggestions on meals, drinks, and desserts. ulysses made an amazing elote! thank you for the very special dinner.
Andreae P — Google review
It was a great experience!! Luis and Esteban were very attentive and hospitable. The atmosphere was amazing. Food was spectacular!! And the service was top tier. Thank you Porfirios for giving me such an amazing experience. When I come back to CDMX, I will gladly come back.
Juli N — Google review
Food was just ok. Especially for the price I would say it was just ok. I had camarones a la tequila and my partner had emoladas. The taste wasn’t bad at all. My partner actually enjoyed the emoladas, but at the price of about $30 usd, they were just ok. Not a place I would be going back to or putting on the list of restaurants for others to visit. They are kid friendly and have a kids menu. My kids got the mini hamburguesas and loved it. They also offer chicken, fish sticks, chicken tenders and pasta. They have music videos with mostly American songs playing, so if that’s what you’re into… It’s a very nice restaurant but if you’re looking for more of an authentic Mexican experience, I would skip it.
Jessica O — Google review
Book that reservation! From the atmosphere to the very friendly attentive staff, Porfirios in Polanco is the place to go for an amazing dinner. Our waiter Christian was a great host, will definitely come back!
Karen R — Google review
We came here for a bachelor party dinner. Sunday night 8pm. We had a group of 18 people. It was pretty empty. They completely messed up every single appetizer and main course. I have literally no idea how they could mess up 18/18 dishes. Of course there would be a minor language barrier but we truly believe that wasn’t the cause of all the problems. Examples would be people ordering steaks and either received completely blue rare or super well done. One person got the flank steak and it was precut to 4 different pieces and each piece of the steak was cooked to a different temperature. 4/18 people received their entree 20 minutes after the rest. Appetizers were completely missed or completely different appetizers. The worst is they tried to upcharge us on some of the steaks. There are shareable options for steaks. And for some reason even though everyone was ordering single entrees for themselves they decided to give one of us the 4 man shareable steak (also the most expensive item on the menu) Picture is somehow getting different entrees even though they ordered the same thing.

Bar & grill
Balcón del Zócalo is an upscale bar and restaurant located in downtown Mexico City, offering a stylish ambiance with tiled floors and marble tables. The highlight of this establishment is its terrace, which provides breathtaking views of the Templo Mayor ruins and the city's historic district. Balcón del Zócalo offers an exceptional dining experience primarily defined by its unrivaled views of Mexico City's historic Zócalo, including the Metropolitan Cathedral and National Palace. Securing a balcony table, provides a truly spectacular backdrop. The cuisine is modern Mexican, characterized by creative interpretations of traditional dishes and a strong emphasis on high-quality ingredients. Plates are elegantly presented, reflecting a fine-dining approach without being overly formal. Service is consistently attentive and professional. The combination of the iconic location, refined cuisine, and polished service justifies the cost for a memorable occasion.

Patty made our stay extra special. Thank you for going the extra mile for us. The event was amazing Sept 16 El Grito!!! The view to El Zocalo is a must see.The service awesome. Drinks great! I must see.

My favs were the watermelon ceviche and the chocolate dessert, but everything we had was delicious and interesting. Also the cocktails & mocktails were the BEST! the bread comes out with chocolate butter...so ENJOY! Do bring a jacket if you want the seats with a view on a cooler night.
Reena M — Google review
We had an incredible experience at Balcón. Here’s what we loved: - Phenomenal service: due to the teacher protest we were late for our reservation but they waited patiently for us to arrive; waitstaff was always helpful, quick to refill water/drinks and never skipped a beat with our questions about the menu. - drinks were unique and exceptionally tasty - views of Plaza de Constitutión and the buildings were incredible. - food was top notch! Our group chose to do the pick 3 option on the menu: Tirana ceviche, shrimp taco, filet taco, octopus, tlacoyo tacos, totoaba filet on mole, heirloom tomato salad, rib-eye, everything was absolutely delicious! - perfect portion-size - never felt rushed to finish an item - heaters were flanking our table which helped as the temperature cooled outside. Things I would change if we could: - our choices of clothing! We were right at the front of the balcony which was fantastic for the amazing views but it was quite windy. I would have worn nice pants and brought a thicker sweater. - prepare for a lot of traffic getting there especially if there is a protest going on (we had to walk the last few blocks due to road closures associated with the teachers’ protest).
Melissa M — Google review
It's a restaurant with a spectacular view of the Zócalo, located on the top floor of the building, accessible by elevator. The food is very good, and the drinks are equally good. The cocktails are a bit pricey, and you should pay close attention to the bill because they add a $20 service charge that isn't mandatory. If you don't notice, they'll add it without explanation, and it doesn't count as a tip.
Nelson M — Google review
Diego, Fabian, y Isaac were so great! They explained to us what each plate was and made recommendations. They were all so attentive. Can't gush enough about them. The food was exceptional. Every bite was an experience. Me and my party of 4 chose the chef's selection and I think it was a great choice. The atmosphere was fine dining and came with a great view. Top notch all around.
Joanna P — Google review
Spectacular view, great atmosphere! Ordered a rib eye and was brought out at wrong temperature. Server offered to remake it at no cost and item was removed from bill. Manager came to the table to make sure it was to our liking and brought us some dessert at no additional cost. Their customer service is top notch! They make some very good drinks. Looks like they just recently changed some menu items. We were hoping on getting some items that look tasty on the old menu.

Cityzen

$$$$expensive
Restaurant
Cityzen is a rooftop restaurant in Mexico City with stunning views of the Paseo de la Reforma, Angel of Independence and Chapultepec Castle. The food was disappointing but the cocktails were amazing.
Spectacular city views, great host who accommodated our request to change the table. It was a bit loud inside so it was harder to have a chat, but we moved to the couch on the balcony and we had the most amazing city views. The drinks were great, music was awesome, the bites were really good too. Overall an excellent experience!
Roxana N — Google review
Cityzen is a cool spot to grab a drink and take in some pretty amazing views of Mexico City. It's located inside a hotel, so you’ll have to walk through the lobby and take two elevators to get up there, but it’s all pretty straightforward. We went in the middle of the day and had no trouble getting a table without a reservation. That said, if you’re planning to go for sunset or during busier hours, it’s probably a good idea to book ahead. I can see it getting full quickly. The drinks were tasty, the service was super friendly, and while everything was nice overall, the real highlight is definitely the view. Worth a visit if you’re looking for a chill rooftop vibe.
Paulina G — Google review
Cityzen is a gorgeous restaurant right in the heart of Reforma. The food is decent, but what really makes it worth visiting is the view. If there aren’t any terrace tables available, you’ll be seated indoors until one opens up (they go by order of arrival). Sometimes you’ll get lucky and won’t have to wait too long, but it’s a good idea to go with plenty of time just in case if you're looking to have a view.
Marcelo C — Google review
I’m so excited we were able to get a table here. My friends and I got cocktails around 6pm and stayed until about 8pm and it was such a gorgeous view! Lots of tourists here at this location. Definitely recommend reservations if you want to go for sunset. We were lucky and did a walk in and were able to get a table on the terrace. Otherwise, it’s easy to find and staff were very friendly.
Kaloni S — Google review
It's the bar/restaurant at the very top of the Sofitel hotel on Reforma. Great views of the city. Not for those with a fear of heights! Helicopters will be flying around below you! It can be a little loud and crowded sometimes, but it's a nice place for sure!
Blake — Google review
We went to Cityzen on September 16th at 5pm and able to sit outside and enjoy the beautiful view with no wait times. We each got 2 of the Spritz drinks and they were amazing! However, the highlight for us was the service that we received from our server Bruno. He was knowledgeable on the drinks and had a very pleasant demeanor. He was friendly and that was a great addition to the atmosphere. Thanks Bruno!

Sonora Grill

Grill
Sonora Grill is a popular hangout spot, especially late at night, known for serving the best tacos al carbon in town. The restaurant offers a variety of meats cooked over coals on an open grill, including ribs, beefsteak, chorizo, and chicken. The lively atmosphere with vibrant music and quick service makes it a refreshing dining experience. Additionally, the restaurant has attentive staff and offers beautiful presentations for both food and drinks.
This was an excellent dining experience! The staff was attentive and friendly. There was English menus and staff spoke some English. We ordered way too much food! Tacos were good but nothing special. I ordered a gin and tonic which came with strawberries. It was also 2 for 1 so near the end of my meal a waiter brought out another cocktail. It was a pleasant surprise. I would recommend this place for a nice dinner out!

Lovely restaurant with delicious food! Ambiance is excellent with open window indoor/outdoor seating. All the dishes I ordered were tasty and fresh! Highly recommend the steak tacos and beet and feta appetizer. Service was amazing with friendly staff. Javier took care of me and went out of his way to provide a wonderful meal! English menus provided which was appreciated. Everything priced very reasonably. The free ice cream at the end was a nice touch! Highly recommend this place! 10/10

Sonora Grill is at the Barcelo Mexico Hotel is owned by the same company as Prime Steak Club at the Sheraton. They have great music, environment, service and food. It’s a bit pricey but that what you can expect from a great steakhouse house like this. Well worth it and definitely recommend.
Donnie P — Google review
The restaurant and service is 10/10. I think our mistake was ordering things that weren’t steak. Expensive boring tacos that were nothing special. The pichana was more like shredded beef.. one of the queso dishes was left untouched. We did get a steak that was really good. They come with a grill and turn on a fire so that was entertaining.. complementary drinks and bean and cheese appetizers that were decent and we appreciate it
Gigi J — Google review
Overall a bit disappointed. Steak was pretty good, but nothing amazing for the price. Aguachile wasn't spicy or particularly flavorful, and the truffled potatoes were outright bad. Service was good. But for the price point, I had higher expectations. Wouldn't choose to come here again.

This place is amazing. For a chain restaurant they go all out for you You get free tortilla chips with a refried bean dip that is piping hot The beef broth is amazing. Try it And the best part…we didn’t order dessert because we were full but they brought an ice cream anyway. Amazing Can’t recommend this place enough

Animal Masaryk is a trendy restaurant in Mexico City that offers a diverse menu featuring steak, seafood, and tacos. The atmosphere is excellent with fabulous decor and inviting staff. While the fully English menu may be limited, the servers are helpful in making recommendations. Guests have praised the sushi and fresh ceviche, as well as the generous dessert portions. The restaurant pays attention to food allergies and provides personalized recommendations based on preferences.
We stopped by Animal Masaryk for a family dinner after a day of exploring the city, and we’re so glad we did. The food was absolutely delicious — each dish packed with flavor and beautifully presented. Drinks were a bit on the sweeter side, but the presentation was super fun and creative. What really stood out was the service. Sergio went above and beyond, even surprising my dad with a bottle of sake he’d wanted. We came in on a quieter night and were never rushed, even when a sudden rainstorm hit. The staff was super accommodating and let us wait it out comfortably. Great vibe, great service—we’ll definitely be back!

The food was good, but the service was a bit odd. It started off strong, but the waiter wasn't the best with English (and that's ok, we're visiting Mexico), the appetizers came out fast, but then it took 20+ minutes to track someone down to order our mains. Then it took 30+ minutes to find someone to order our deserts. We had a least 3 different waiters on a Monday night. My family and I were exhausted after the meal due to the length (nearly 3 hours). The vibes were good, and we had looked forward to dining here for years. I think services was just having an "off" night.

Best servers and atmosphere for the price. The food was top notch as well. The only complaint i have is that they asked us if we have any allergies at the entrance and as they sat us down. Both times I told them my wife had a nut allergy. Then when we asked for the banana cake they served it with nuts sprinkled on top. Other than that excellent servers. They were super attentive and helpful. Better bang for your buck balancing ambience, service, and food than you will find at any steak house in the US (I'm looking at you folks folly, change your Playlist and bad sports paintings for the love of god). A must go place when visiting Mexico city. Eduardo and David were the best servers I've had at any restaurant ever.

If I could give 10 stars I would. Thank you Miguel, Victor and Ian for the most hospitable service, EVER. Everything from the food, to the service and ambiance was better than I expected. Came here for my birthday and everyone made the night so special. Faves include: Short ribs dumplings Toro with capers dish, wow! Nigiri: toro & chutoro Hamachi Don’t leave without the lemon pie and pistachio ice cream. Thank you Miguel, Victor and Ian for an unforgettable birthday night!

Loved this place, the food was absolutely delicious.. everything we ordered was tasty. Hector and Israel were great serving our table. Recommend 100% the octopus and the tacos de arrachera con tétano.

Animal is part of what I call "The Masarik trail" or The full Masaryk experience" defined by: Lively atmosphere, including pretty loud background music. A Mix of flavors and cuisines (in this case Mexican and Japanese) and over the top food presentation that includes fire, smoke and lights. If this is what you want for your night, this place is for you. If you are looking for a quiet intimate experience, it's definitely somewhere else. I loved their Toro sashimi, and their fried coliflower. I'll definitely come back next time I feel like it's celebration night or to host a big party of friends or foreigners visiting town

The food was well presented and enjoyable, but the service felt a bit intrusive—the waiter kept plating our food for us, which made the experience feel rushed and took away from the relaxed, intimate atmosphere we were hoping for.

Interesting restaurant in Polanco's ritzy area on Masaryk Blvd. Good food, specializing in steaks, sushi and Mexican food. Nicest bathroom I've seen in a long time! It's not cheap. Never a good thing when they bring you the bill/check in a small wooden decorative box. haha

Taboo | El mejor restaurante en Polanco

Mediterranean restaurant
Greek restaurant
Themed around Mediterranean cuisine, Taboo Polanco is a chic and sophisticated restaurant with an energetic atmosphere. The dishes are made with passion and the food here is some of the best in Mexico City. The restaurant is open until late and it's popular with celebrities and locals alike.
Taboo in Mexico City is an incredible dining experience that perfectly balances great food, a vibrant atmosphere, and top-tier service. From the moment you walk in, the ambiance sets the tone—elegant yet relaxed, with stylish decor that makes every corner feel special. The live music adds an energetic yet sophisticated touch, creating the perfect backdrop for an unforgettable night. The food is simply outstanding. Every dish is beautifully presented and packed with flavor, whether you're indulging in fresh seafood, premium cuts of meat, or one of their expertly crafted pastas. The cocktails are just as impressive—thoughtfully mixed and full of unique flavors that elevate the entire experience. Beyond the food, the overall vibe at Taboo is what truly makes it stand out. It’s lively but not overwhelming, making it ideal for both an intimate dinner and a fun night out with friends. The staff is attentive and ensures every detail is taken care of, adding to the restaurant’s warm and welcoming feel. If you're looking for a place in Mexico City that offers not just a meal but a full sensory experience, Taboo is a must-visit. It’s the perfect blend of indulgence, entertainment, and relaxation—definitely a spot you’ll want to return to.

We went with a group of ten. The service was perfect. If you get up for the restroom, you return to a folded napkin on your chair. The food was sooo good with lots of vegetarian options. The cocktails and wine were also delicious. We got a hookah while they had a really good DJ, saxophone player and a drummer. Bu the end of the night, we were dancing on the table with guests from other tables. We had a blast!

Absolutely amazing service and food! Loved the Ribeye with the Chimichurri! Octopus was cooked perfectly and seasoned very well! Music and staff were a blast! Joel, Aldo, and Ernesto were a great trio!

I kept seeing this place always worn the crowd on weekends so had to try. It started with this complimentary hummus with this spicy sesame sauce and that blew my mind! The appetizers were all great, black risotto was my favorite. Portion was bigger than I expected so we ordered too much but overall very happy with the dishes - very well presented! Great and helpful staff as well.

Worst dinning experience to date. We made a reservation 5 months in advance for a party of 11 for a bachelorette weekend, and when we arrived, the restaurant didn’t even have a table ready. We were told to go next door to Rosa Negra and “wait about 30 minutes” even though that place was a completely different vibe and not what we booked. They said they’d offer complimentary drinks while we waited, but an hour into our reservation time, we were still sitting there with no table and no updates. When we finally went back to check, the host claimed our table was ready but she tried to seat us at a table for four people. For a group of eleven. At that point, we decided to leave, and as we were walking out, they stopped us to make us pay for the “complimentary” drinks — which, by the way, we barely touched because we were waiting so long. The only reason we booked this place was for the entertainment, and they tried to move us to a location without any. Save yourself the stress this restaurant does not honor reservations, doesn’t communicate, and will leave you scrambling for another spot last minute. Truly a horrible experience from start to finish.

We have been at Taboo a couple of times for dinner and drinks. Well located in Avenida Masaryk Polanco. Nice atmosphere and chill music. We like the decoration, food is yummy and drinks refreshing. But the service could improve a bit more. in our last visit we over wait for the food and drinks were not on point. Deserts were lovely tho. ☺️

Excellent restaurant! The dishes are way to beautifully done and delicious. The waitresses are really nice and polite. They have great variety of dishes so you can fulfill your cravings. The music is really good, and the cocktails are really good. It’s quite expensive but worth it.

Food is great and the restaurant is beautiful! No matter where you sit, it’s enchanted. Drinks are also great. The staff completes the 5 stars! They are so attentive and animated..it’s probably the most energetic and fun restaurant I’ve ever been too! I can’t even post all the photos!!! The party I was with was of 11 girls celebrating my friend’s bachelorette and the staff here made it epic! The Jessica Reyes Bachelorette Package 💞!

First time flying to Mexico and had a great experience with this airport! Loved how clean and empty/calm it was as well as the shops and restaurants inside. The restrooms are very clean and I enjoyed the bits of history and culture shared in them. Getting through security was a breeze, there were no major lines when I went!
Ericka E — Google review
There’s little to say about AIFA other than it’s newly built—but unfortunately, that’s where the positives end. The airport is located far from Mexico City and is poorly connected, making it both time-consuming and expensive to reach. Once there, you’ll find it largely empty, with virtually nothing to see or do. It feels more like an oversized bus terminal than a functioning international airport. From an architectural standpoint, the design lacks coherence—it seems more like a series of random lines than a thoughtfully planned space. It’s disappointing that this was the outcome of a national project that many supported and allowed to move forward. The quality of the construction is poor and sloppy. This place is not going to age well. Unless absolutely necessary, I would strongly recommend avoiding this airport. You’re not missing anything by skipping it.

My recent experience at Aifa International Airport (AIFA) was truly excellent and exceeded all expectations for a new hub. The first thing that stands out is how spacious and modern the terminal is. The architecture is striking, offering an airy, uncluttered feel that makes navigation incredibly smooth and stress-free. It’s a genuine pleasure to walk through a facility that clearly prioritizes passenger comfort and flow. The variety of businesses is another significant plus. From diverse dining options to intriguing retail stores, there's something to cater to every need and interest, making wait times fly by. It's fantastic to see such a strong commercial offering, blending local and international brands seamlessly. However, the real highlight is the surprising creativity of the washrooms. Each one I encountered had a unique, thoughtful, and often whimsical theme that celebrates Mexican culture. They are impeccably clean and turn a mundane necessity into a delightful, memorable part of the journey—a detail that truly reflects an investment in passenger experience. Finally, the entire airport staff, from security personnel to service desk agents, were exceptionally friendly and helpful. Their professional, welcoming demeanor contributed greatly to a positive atmosphere. AIFA is a world-class, functional, and culturally vibrant airport. Highly recommended!

I remember hearing the media calling this airport a bus terminal, well... This is one of the MOST BEAUTIFUL AIRPORTS I'VE BEEN, and I've been to way too many. This airport is beautiful inside out, functional, "extremely clean" and it has themed washrooms from Mexican culture. The whole place is awesome and has become my new favourite airport!!

AIFA Airport is brand new and very spacious — a stark contrast from AICM. The staff are friendly and helpful, and the lines are usually short with little to no waiting at baggage or security checkpoints. The restrooms are spotless, and all the facilities look modern and well-maintained. The only downside is that boarding is done via air stairs, so if it’s raining, you might get wet unless you bring an umbrella. Overall, an excellent and efficient airport experience.
Erik J — Google review
1 less star because no water filling stations are available in the airport. Even though the water bottles are cheaper in the stores (~30MXN for 600ml) than the upscale restaurants in the city, it would've been good to have access to free water.
Selvaa_Stark — Google review
Funcional and clean. Nothing fancy but the access it's easy and super quick. If your flight it's in the morning the tragic it's light at afternoon take extra time because the trafic can be heavy.
Ize — Google review
Very modern airport. AIFA is much better than MEX. I wish more airlines, especially international ones flew out of here. Definitely check out the Mexican Tourism Ministry on the bottom level. Lots of information and freebies, including free postcards. There's also a post office on the upper level. My only real complaints are that after spending 12+ hours here waiting on my flight, it can be very cold here in the morning/after dark due to poor insulation. Also the wifi needs attention as it kept booting me off after 10 minutes. If they would put a fraction of the cost into what they spend on cleaning crew to keep the place so pristine, on upgrading their wifi, I would give them 5 stars.

Mexico City International Airport Benito Juárez

International airport
Domestic airport
Mexico City International Airport, with the code MEX, is a bustling and large airport that offers on-site hotels, a wide variety of shops, and numerous dining options. It's located about 45 minutes by car from Centro Historico. While it can be busy and require some waiting during immigration procedures, the staff are known for being friendly and helpful. The airport has extensive facilities to keep travelers entertained during layovers, including shops and restaurants.
Mexico City International Airport Benito Juárez is the busiest airport in Mexico and a major hub for both domestic and international flights. The airport has two terminals that are connected by an efficient shuttle service, offering travelers a wide range of shops, restaurants, and services. While it can get very crowded during peak hours, the staff generally works hard to maintain order and efficiency. The facilities are clean and modern, though some areas could use more seating space. With good connections to public transportation, including metro and buses, it is a practical choice for travelers despite the heavy traffic around the airport.

I had a good experience at this airport 🦋loved the art gallery/ museum - ah, don't miss it, such beauty 🦋many stores and places to eat! 🦋there's a few lounges here.... but the signs and how to get there need to be adjusted... I wasted so much time searching for vip lounge for priority pass cardholders.... such wasted time following the signs... for both left and right sighs ... Don't go upstairs, very deceptive, and this one worker tells me it's closed. I've was so upset. Turned out it was on the first floor... so there is a lounge.... so my rating from 3 stars went into 4. Was so happy to take a nap in the lounge.
Zarina — Google review
While there were a few very nice shops I found this airport to be one of the most unwelcome ones to be in. It was hard to navigate because the signs were not clear and sometimes not even present. Even though it was under construction in places, they did not do much to mitigate sound and dust. The bathrooms were never very clean and smelled bad. I didn't really have a choice for an airport and was kind of stuck here. If I had another choice I would go with a different one.

I normally put up with a lot of stuff when I come to Mexico but this time I think it is important to let you know the following. The airport has implemented this absurd policy where you cannot take a dolly out to carry your own bags . You have a bunch of people waiting outside offering you the service and the police are there to enforce this. As a user you should be able to have the option to decide if you want to push your own bags or let someone do it for you. I highly encourage no to request this service. It doesn’t matter if you dollars vs peso is nothing. There is no need to improve your service if you know that customers have no other option.
Carlos J — Google review
This airport is complicated. I had a fine experience on this visit and a difficult time determining where to go on my last. This place is very large. It is easy to find almost as many things as if you where on a shopping mall... with touristic site type of prices. The size of this location makes is very easy for you to get lost. Disclaimer: This was my second visit. Warning: Double check everything or you run the risk of being lost & late. Price Warning: The tickets depend on your airline, but I'd advise you to think twice about buying anything on this airport. This place is extremely expensive. Tip arrive early and bring your own food.

I'm giving it 3 stars because they lack organization. We even missed a flight because they change the departure gates frequently. Some restaurants are worth eating at, and the NH Collection hotel is an excellent place to spend the night. On the other hand, we received poor service from the staff at some stores, like 7-Eleven.
Lesli C — Google review
Had a great experience both coming in and departing from the airport. Arrival was easy and customs was efficient; they put you through an individual scanner (US passport holders), so no stamps coming in. It is fast and you get a QR code for your time in the country. Getting an Uber is super easy outside (but set it up ahead of time). Return trip was great. They recommend 2-3 hours arrival ahead of flight time due to traffic and security but we had time to spare due to lower traffic. We were flying on Delta and went to check our luggage for the return flight; the staff are super friendly and we had a great experience. The check in process was quick and the line went fast- even for non priority people. Security was not very efficient and we got through but the lines were unequal. You will need to put your things in a tray, but our line was out so we had to wait. Meanwhile other lines went faster. No stamp out; no customs to check you out. I was hopeful for the lounge here, but it was under construction so no option. The lounge areas are difficult to find so signage could be improved. Currency exchange personnel aren’t great but we did get a good rate for our exchange. There aren’t many places to sit so seating could be improved, especially since there were a great deal of people who needed to be accommodated (elderly, disabled, limited mobility). We did grab a bite to eat and prices were fair for the airport. Bathrooms were good and kept clean, even with so many people coming in. Our flight departed on time and didn’t delay. Overall a good experience and compared to other airports, this place was efficient, felt safe and overall pleasant.
