Kalkan in 1 day

If you only have 1 day to spend in Kalkan, we’ve narrowed down the top places you should check out to get the best experience of your time here.
Kalkan is a small Mediterranean resort known for its whitewashed houses cascading down a steep hillside to a picturesque harbor. Its clear, warm waters and nearby beaches such as Kaputaş and Patara make it popular for swimming, boating, and diving. The town offers a compact old center with stone streets, rooftop restaurants, and views across the bay. It also serves as a base for visiting nearby Lycian ruins and sections of the long-distance Lycian Way trail.
With favorites like House Myra, CLup Patara House, and Ancient City of Xanthos, we’ll make sure you don’t miss out on all the must sees. We even included some of our favorite food spots around the area, like Sunset restaurant kalkan and Seaport Restaurant so you can get the best taste of Kalkan while you’re here. To see our full list of food recommendations, check out our best restaurants post. If you're traveling on a budget, you can check out our cheap eats post.

Kaputaş Beach is a stunning sandy cove located just a short bus ride away from Kalkan. Nestled at the base of a striking mountain gorge, this tiny beach offers clear blue waters and is accessible via a narrow stairway with around 300 steps. Nearby, there are several other beautiful beaches such as Patara Beach, which is part of a national park and known for its 12-kilometer stretch of sand and turtle sightings.
I’ve traveled to many coastal towns, but the sea in Kaş is by far the most stunning. Crystal-clear water, breathtaking views, and a feeling of pure serenity — it’s a destination that I’ll always recommend!! It’s like a painting come to life — turquoise, deep blue, and sparkling under the sunlight. It feels untouched and natural, making it one of the most magical experiences I’ve had traveling 🥹🫶🏾🫶🏾

Such a gorgeous beach! We were here by the end of September, 2025. Current prices are 50tl for access; umbrellas and sunbeds for 250tl. There’s a sign that says no food or drink from outside but we brought our own and so did so many other people and no one said anything or even checked our bags. We couldn’t rent sunbeds as the beach was full by time we arrived (12noon), but we threw our beach towels and it was fine! To my surprise, the water wasn’t as cold as I thought it would be, so it was perfect! Totally recommend to arrive by public bus (dolmus) to avoid the parking hassle. Bus ticket is currently 75tl and runs every 30min. If you come from Kas, you can hop on at the bus station downtown. It stops right outside the main entrance both ways! Here’s the updated schedule.

Great beach, we went at 10h30 in the morning , it was okay but 2 hours later it became crowded so we left at 13h , entrance is 50 lira , sunshade 230l , it quickly gets deep so you should be a good swimmer
Donia S — Google review
One of the most beautiful beaches in Kaş, but services aren’t great and prices are high (almost like a beach club). The café was poor for the price. Stairs up are a bit painful, down is easier than reviews suggest. The sea gets very wavy—check the wind before you go and avoid windy days if you want to swim.
Ceren G — Google review
One of turkiye's most beautiful beaches with magical turquoise water. You have to descend several steps to get there. There are douches and changing rooms. The entrance fee is 50 tl.
Janet B — Google review
Kaputas Beach, located between Kas and Kalkan, is an absolute must-visit if you’re exploring this part of Turkey! The beach is famous for its stunning turquoise water and jaw-dropping view from above—you’ll want to snap a hundred photos before you even head down. If you’ve never been here before, put it at the very top of your list. There’s everything you need for a perfect beach day: sunbeds, umbrellas, a café, plus you can always just bring your own towel and relax right on the sand. The beach is free to visit; you only pay a small entrance fee. One thing to know—Kaputas is super popular, so it gets really crowded, and parking can be a challenge. To get the best spot and enjoy a bit of peace, try to come really early in the morning or around sunset. It’s totally worth it!
Villa I — Google review
Maybe in low season is worth a visit , in high season is disgustingly full, the place is nice but too crowded and you will find cigarette butts everywhere, there is a long staircase to get there . 50 liras per person the entry fee. Parking there is a mess and you risk someone parking and blocking your car .
Felipe E — Google review
Hard to find car parking that of course is on the road. Beach is ok and water is incredible transparent. Really love it. Entrance 50TL per person, nothing included

CLup Patara House is a hidden gem that beautifully combines nature and tranquility, making it an ideal destination for those seeking relaxation. (Translated by Google) You must have a car to come here. Because most places to go to the center, go to the market and visit are not within walking distance. There is a shuttle service that takes you to the pool frequently. It is not a busy holiday destination with a magnificent view, ideal for relaxing. I think there is a problem in management. Firstly, people wearing hijab cannot enter the pool. The reason is said to be cleanliness, and wearing a bonnet is said to be mandatory. But no attention is paid to the bonnet. Secondly, I bought something from the cafe next to the pool and even though I paid for it at that moment, when I was leaving the hotel, the security claimed that we did not pay. I'm glad I used my card, I showed my receipt immediately through internet banking. It wasn't too bad for a week's holiday. I was going to give it 2 stars, so I thought it wouldn't be too unfair. After all, these are my opinions and those of my family. Will I come again? I don't think so. Instead, all inclusive or half board makes more sense. Restaurant
Patara Restaurant is a popular dining spot located near the ancient site of Patara. Visitors often stop by after exploring the nearby beach and historical attractions. The restaurant offers a warm and inviting atmosphere, with clean and appropriately portioned dishes. Guests can enjoy great food while taking in scenic views and receiving excellent service.
(Translated by Google) First of all, Patara Prince has been our first choice for accommodation in this region for about 10 years. We liked our room, Akdeniz Suite, very much. The hotel's open buffet breakfast consists of a wide variety of varieties. However, there is a problem with the dinner part. The menu is sufficient and the price is reasonable compared to other restaurants in Kalkan. Everything is spotless. However, the kitchen works very slowly. While having dinner this evening, a woman from the next table shouted and scolded the waiter named Emirhan, both because her food was late and because there was something she didn't like in the food. Unfortunately, they do not ask people how well-mannered they are when accepting guests into the hotel. I'm not talking about the friend who works here, I want to ask from which cave did the woman who scolded her come out into the street and come to stay at the hotel of a valuable person like Turhan Kaşo without knowing any manners or decency? Even Turhan Kaşo asks his employees for something by asking and using the word please. We witnessed it ourselves. Please do not accommodate people who treat employees like this in your hotel. Everyone can be wealthy, but being human is not everyone's cup of tea. (Original) Öncelikle Patara Prince yaklaşık 10 yıldır bu bölgede konaklamak için ilk tercihimiz oluyor. Odamız Akdeniz Suit’i çok beğendik. Kalkan Beach is one of the best beaches in Turkey, along with Kaputas, Patara, and Kas beach. It's a public beach with reasonably priced umbrellas and lounges. The pebbly beach offers crystal clear water for swimming and sunbathing. There are also restaurants nearby where you can enjoy a drink or snack. Additionally, amenities such as public restrooms, showers, and parking are available.
It’s a small beach in a cute town, it is lovely to walk around here, maybe too many people take beautiful big white stones home to use as potted plants in their landscaping, it feels like there are not as many big white rocks as before. 🤍

Beautiful clear water, refreshing! Rocky/pebbly beach so think about footwear down to waters edge and maybe in water. Great for kids, we just perched up on beach with towels early morning, we stayed close to the area marked on map which was clear, shallow and felt safe for 5 and 8 year old to swim to buoys that separated swimming area from marina. Great watching all ships and smalls boats pass by! Followed this with Turkish breakfast at a marina restaurant with the rest of the family where we saw turtles swimming in the water! Incredible!!!

There were a lot of people in the afternoon, so I rushed to get a sunbed early in the morning and arrived around 9:30. You can pick and choose where you want to sit at this time, but if you are around smokers, it can make for an annoying beach time... I chose a spot away from a smoking couple, but the Brits were smoking with their whole family right next to my kids and it was a shame to enjoy the beautiful beach. Except that, I loved this beach because there is no a rip-off charge to use a sun-bed. The men-staff come to collect the money after you take a sun-bed. Since they have a good memory, you’d better pay honestly. They will give you a receipt, so keep it. You can take a shower to de-salt before leaving. It's a beautiful place to enjoy the Mediterranean Sea.

Negative parts: beach is stony and hard to walk . After 8 meters water gets deep and not easy for kids . Positive sude: very close to Kalkan center . Water is cold and refreshing. Water is clean in general. Good view around . Local municipal is not expensive, chair 150 tl and umbrella 150 tl . Efes beer 150 tl and potato fries 180 tl . Lot of families around but nice vibe
Erdal S — Google review
This place is amazing, it is run by the municipality. You can rent an umbrella and sun bed each for 100 TL. there is municipality restaurant behind the beach that serves very affordable food and drinks. Beer is 200 TL for example, fries 150 TL, chicken nuggets for 200 TL, Burger for 275 TL, Coke 100 TL. There is a also an ice cream place that sells one top of ice-cream for 50 TL and slushies. I recommend u buy the beer from a near buy market so u can get it for around 100 Tl but still the prices onthe beach are not ridiculously expensive. The beach is fairly clean, there are showers and changing rooms. The showers have issues most of them are broken. The sea water is a bit wavey and ice cold. Not suitable for children. And it gets deep after a while. It is pebbley beach not sandy and not that crowded. We came here two days in a row. Loved everything and every minute of it.. well done Türkiye 😍
Julie A — Google review
Wonderful public beach accessible to all. The umbrellas and lounges are reasonably priced (225 TL for 2 lounges and 1 umbrella). There is a municipal restaurant at the far end of the beach which too is very decent and is reasonably priced, unlike all other restaurants on the beach which gouge you. We will definitely come back. It is a pebbly beach, so bring your water shoes. If you are driving, they close the roads from the beach parking at noon. The signs say 12AM. They actually mean 12PM.
Janna K — Google review
Great beach but Kalkan itself is difficult to get around because the best part of it is all on hills /steep walking areas. The beachbis at the very bottom of these hills so if hotel or villa is higher up, taxi may need to be taken. Not for disabled or people with health problems. Otherwise beautiful.

Great historical place, the first capital of ancient Lycia, staying on the shore of Ksanf river, that had been destroyed by Persians in 546BC when all the men of the city killed their wives and kids before going into their final suicidal battle with king Darius. Amazing mosaics and the Rosetta Stone of the Lycian language - a stone stella with the longest inscription which helped to decipher the lost tongue

This was such a neat stop. You pay at a small building across the street from the big sites, it's cash only, and there was plenty of parking. It rained while we were there and if you're in the ruins there is no shelter, so be forewarned. The ruins were so cool.

Exploring the city, visiting different places, and learning about the stories of the people who once lived here was truly fascinating and exciting. Look up their stories on Google, discover who they were, and learn about the historical events they shaped.

An interesting ancient city with both the necropolis and acropolis open to exploring. Necropolis is hidden away more and those more adventurous you're able to get up close to the tombs. Make sure you read up on Xanthos before you visit, there isn't a lot of direction or information available once there.

Magnificent site in a deplorable state. Less known than its neighbour Pătară it has immense historical vale but it is completely neglected. 5* for its value 1" for its state and maintenance. The average is 3*

Just one of the thousands of excavations in Türkiye. What İ liked is that you can follow a trail along the premises, leading you to -more or less- the graveyard. Graves hewn out in the mountain and some Lycian tomb stones. On the other side of the road you find some more (kings) tombs and an amphitheater. İ was there in spring and it was green and full with wild flowers. Mind your step btw, there are many turtles on the premises.

Fantastic place to visit It's about £6 or something to enter but well worth the visit Research what it is ahead of visit and you will love it. Free parking Very exposed to the sun so bring a hat and drinks.

The food was great, the servers were super friendly and helpful. I forgot my bag when I was there and the owner brought it back to our yacht! 10/10, if I could give more than 5 stars I would!

Beautiful terrace restaurant. The host was proud of making the lemonade from home grown lemons and he has every right to be - it was excellent! The food was tasty, moderate portions but delicious and well-plated. Amazing view of the sea and great vibe.

Lovely place, really good food with an amazing view, the owner was so good to us and our kids. We had dinner and went back for breakfast. Can’t wait to come back next year. Oh and love the hand made tables! One table has his Nan’s old kitchen door built into the table top under a glass cover, it looks really cool and so sweet 🥰

Very welcoming and friendly hosts, great music, wonderful view above the harbour, and fabulous selection of very tasty food, all at very reasonable prices. Don't be put off if it looks quiet on your visit, it's worth it.

Located in the picturesque town of Kalkan, Seaport Restaurant is a renowned eatery for seafood enthusiasts. Its idyllic position by the sea allows them to serve a diverse and mouthwatering menu using fresh, locally-sourced ingredients. The extensive selection includes appetizers like clams in white wine sauce and fish ceviche, as well as both traditional and inventive main courses like Grilled Octopus and Lobster Thermidor.
We had the most fantastic experience at this incredible restaurant with the most amazing atmosphere and breathtaking view. We were welcomed with friendly smiles and superb service throughout. The food… ridiculously delicious and presented beautifully. Thank you for a perfect last meal in Turkey. We look forward to coming back one day!!

Seaport, Kalkan: Where Even the Priest Couldn’t Handle the Flavour If you’re looking for seafront dining in Kalkan with incredible food, stunning views, and the kind of atmosphere that makes you want to stay for “just one more drink,” then Seaport is the place to be. It’s the perfect mix of laid-back elegance and top-tier Turkish cuisine, making it one of those restaurants you instantly fall in love with. The Setting: Seafront Bliss 🌊🍷 Seaport sits right by the water, offering breathtaking views of the harbour, especially at sunset when the sky turns every shade of gold and pink. Whether you’re here for a romantic dinner, a relaxed evening with friends, or just an excuse to soak up the Kalkan atmosphere, it’s the perfect spot to sit back, sip some wine, and enjoy the gentle sea breeze. The Food: A Flavour Explosion 🍆🔥 Seaport absolutely delivers on taste, but the real standout? The Fainting Priest (Imam Bayıldı). This heavenly aubergine dish was so good, we understood exactly why the priest in the name supposedly fainted. Soft, slow-cooked aubergine melting into a rich, flavour-packed tomato and onion sauce, bursting with sweetness, depth, and that perfect balance of olive oil and spice—it was pure perfection. Other dishes on the menu hold their own too—the fresh seafood is outstanding, the mezze is beautifully presented and full of flavour, and the overall quality of ingredients shines through in every bite. The Service: Warm, Attentive & Full of Personality ❤️ The team at Seaport are absolute stars—welcoming, attentive, and full of great recommendations. They know exactly when to check in and when to let you just sit back and enjoy the view, striking that perfect balance between professionalism and warmth. The Verdict: A Must-Visit in Kalkan ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Seaport ticks every box—stunning location, unforgettable food, and a relaxed-yet-refined atmosphere that makes you want to stay all night. And if you do only one thing in Kalkan, make sure it’s trying The Fainting Priest—because trust me, it’ll leave you weak at the knees too. Five stars—plus an extra one for the view that pairs perfectly with every dish.

Amazing location right by the marina with stunning sea views—especially at sunset. The atmosphere is peaceful and beautifully decorated with warm lights and a cozy outdoor setting. I had the Ali Nazik and it was absolutely delicious—the meat was cooked perfectly, so tender and full of flavor. The seafood and meze were also fresh and tasty. We finished with a traditional dessert, and it was the perfect sweet ending to the meal. Service was friendly, fast, and welcoming. It’s the perfect place for a romantic dinner or a relaxing evening with friends. Definitely one of the best spots in Kalkan!

Had a lovely little lunch while in Kalkan for the day. One chicken wrap and one beef wrap. Simple but delicious. Great spot to watch the harbour. 😍

Had some lovely meals at seaport during our stay and we haven't left yet so will be returning, started with a lovely Turkish Breakfast, also had a Full English and last night had the Surf and Turf with a sweet and sour dish too. The staff are a joy to be served by and have got to know us now. Great food with a great view, day and night.

A fantastic place! The restaurant itself is very nice and when the weather is good you can enjoy the terrace with amazing sea views. We went there twice and the service as well as the food were excellent. They have a good choice of vegetarian and vegan dishes and everything is fresh and home made. There is also a nice drinks menu with wine, cocktails etc. We absolutely recommend! 👍👍👍

Hands down, one of the best dining experiences I’ve ever had. Let’s start with the food: the meat was out of this world – perfectly cooked, incredibly tender, and bursting with flavor. Honestly, probably the best meat I’ve tasted in my life. Even their olive oil with fresh bread? Insane. Like… I could go back just for that. The staff? Exceptionally kind and attentive – warm, welcoming, and genuinely caring. They made the whole experience feel personal and effortless. And let’s talk about the view: seaside seating that feels like a postcard. Calm, breezy, and absolutely stunning. To top it all off? The baklava and desserts were divine – the kind of sweetness that makes you close your eyes and smile. This place isn’t just a restaurant – it’s a full-on experience. Highly recommend it – and yes, I’m already planning my next visit.
