Historical landmark
Cabo Carvoeiro Lighthouse, located at the western end of Peniche, offers a pleasant 40-minute walk with the opportunity to visit the Furninha cave along the way. The lighthouse stands amidst beautiful surroundings and an impressive limestone coast, making it a must-see spot for tourists seeking stunning stone formations and coastal views. While the lighthouse itself is not open to visitors, its active presence adds to the allure of this coastal destination.
Beautiful surroundings, impressive limestone coast, not crowded with tourists - really an amazing spot to visit, to see the coast, to see nice stone formations. The lighthouse is still active, so cannot be visited. But in essence, it’s more about seeing the coast, so definitely worth a visit!

A little unsafe but that is am American speaking with all of the guard rails we would have in the USA. Beautiful view. Great opportunity to renovate, if possible, the abandoned and fenced off building into a restaurant.
Stephen M — Google review
In Peniche, I was mesmerized by the sheer rugged beauty of the coast where the Atlantic Ocean meets Europe. Standing by the iconic lighthouse, I gazed across dramatic cliffs shaped by wind and waves, and marveled at the geological wonders like the canyon and underwater structures that make these shores so unique. This peninsula is famed for its surf spots, rich maritime culture, and natural splendor—truly a perfect place to witness the power and tranquility of the ocean.
George J — Google review
The lighthouse poses a great landmark and has fantastic views, especially during sunrise and sunset. I think that there are some wildcamping spots to the southeast of the lighthouse, and there is a hiking trail running along the stunning cliffs towards the north
Ian W — Google review
What a hidden gem! We never knew that the "fish" signs all along the route lead you to the lookout points! A wonderful find!
Shahid H — Google review
Old lighthouse at the end of the peninsula. Nice views but it is even better a km or to further north. There are public toilets in the car park.

Veery good place to watch sunset!

The Geology here is fascinating, beautiful spot for sunsets too and great when the sea is rough.

Miradouro da Cruz dos Remédios is a peaceful viewpoint marked by a striking cross, offering solid views of the surrounding landscape and the sea. The area features winding paths through the rocks, providing beautiful glimpses of the steep coast and crashing waves. It's an ideal place to escape the hustle and bustle, with a tranquil atmosphere that invites contemplation.
Beautiful place, perfect for sunsets even in winter. Interesting rock formations

Wow ! What an area. Fantastic views, rocks, sea, waves. So much space here. Not to be missed especially if your into surfing.
Nigel B — Google review
Best place to watch the waves and see the sunset. It is at the end of the peninsula and there are plenty of places to park. The rocks are layered so they look like a stack of pancakes! The waves have eroded the cliffs in different ways. On a day with strong waves, the crashing of the waves is very loud.
Simon R — Google review
Such an unusual and beautiful natural wonder. Not just a typical rocky seashore, but a very rough and fragmented one with fantastic natural forms. The wind can be very strong, but it is hard to find a better place to watch the sunset. Don't forget to take a glass of wine with you...

The Fort of Peniche is a 16th-century seaside fortress that has played a significant role in Portuguese history. Initially built to defend the coast from invaders and pirates, it later served as a political prison during the Estado Novo regime. Today, it houses Peniche's Museu Municipal and stands as an important national and historical monument. The fort offers visitors a glimpse into Portugal's past and provides stunning views of the surrounding marine areas.
Great Crew on the boat and a lovely boating experience. The long walk to the fort is steep and the steps down are difficult for someone with hip problems. The view of the fort from the top is fantastic! Also the view of the bridge causeway and cove when you get down is stunning. Inside the fort itself is not very interesting. There is no water in the toilets by the quay but it is low season so to be expected ! All in all a 5* trip
Nicola W — Google review
Great museum. Took kids and they were more interested than I expected. I was not aware of so much of the history of the area, and this museum displayed it humbly and informatively. Beautiful view too. Highly recommend if you’re in Peniche.
Georgie F — Google review
Very interesting place to visit. A former fort that was then used as a prison during the Salazar dictatorship and is now a museum documenting the lives of the political prisoners held here. Excellent views of the Peniche harbour and the Atlantic ocean. Entrance is free for Portuguese residents.
Nuno C — Google review

Interesting fort with magnificent walls that dominate the harbour entrance to Peniche , the fort later in its life became a prison and is now a museum open daily free to the public with loads of stories of the inmates , it is a massive structure and will take a bit of time to explore . The town and surrounding area is worth a long visit , two town beaches and a larger one with massive dunes as you enter the peninsula to the left side , loads of restaurants in the town with a variety of dishes . Lovely cycle or walk around the peninsula and out to the beach and further if you require. There are a couple of campsites and large free car park area as you enter the town along the river . The town is definitely worth a long visit .
Aidan M — Google review
When I crossed the entrance door, I had only a vague idea of what it was going to be all about. Prison, high security prison for political prisoners unjustly imprisoned by fascist dictator Salazar. How they lived more rightly survived in that isolated breakyou space still remains a little mystery to me. The exposition and the audio guide largely insist in the few successful and spectacular escapes realized there. Not much on the gloomy perspectives of an unknown future... It is a highly recommendable visit for those who love history...
GILBERT P — Google review
An acceptable museum. Although the exhibitions are nothing of extraordinary, the Peniche fort is well worth visiting, as it has a lot of history and excellent landscapes. The ticket is not very expensive and can be easily purchased at the entrance to the inside of the Fort.

Sportágua - Water Amusement Park, Lda. is a large water park located near Peniche, offering a variety of slides, pools, and grassy areas for picnicking. It's an ideal destination for families with children as it features a dedicated children's pool and a 35-meter pool for adults. Visitors can bring their own sun umbrella and chair or rent them on-site. The park allows outside food but prohibits glass or ceramic containers.
Great experience overall. Not a huge park, but very nice and friendly for the kids. Went during the pandemic with reduced attendance and it was great as everything was clean, and due to the reduced people not big lines to get to the attractions.
Hugo S — Google review
Nice place, good environment, slides maintain ok so everyone can enjoy and have fun. U r allowed to bring your own sun umbrella and a small chair if you need or any other accessory so u can protect yourself from the sun. But if you don't have or simply forgot, you can also rent it. Food is also allowed to bring. Glass or ceramic containers are forbidden like bottles as well. It's not like the big aqua parks in Algarve but it's a place where you can spend a full day and enjoy it with family.
Francisco P — Google review
Pros: Not crowded (week days, at least), big snack-bar/coffee-bar Cons: Only one swimming pool to swim freely, few slides, windy, maybe a little too expensive for the offer
Nuno B — Google review
All ok. With exception of the restaurant. The food (bitoque) is cheap but it's the worst I've ever had. The park itself is perfect for a day with small kids. As it doesn't have many slides older kids will get tired of it fast... But it is perfect for small ones and a whole day of sliding. People are nice and they were very careful with social distance and hygiene. It is small compared with other water parks. Prices are fare.
Mário S — Google review
A bit pricy for not really many slides. But a nice place for small children I think. Older children get bored very quickly. With my 13 year old son I spent about one and a half hour there. Staff is friendly.
Linda S — Google review
Probably was a good park years ago, but time has taken its toll, slides don't really slide anymore, guess this is due to a lack of water flow. Also the place looks really quite delapidated. Another issue is the grass area has red ants on it which bite. Easily addressed but.... The food from the canteen was actually pretty good and so was the coffee. Our child (age 6) had a lovely day out though so I guess that's what counts.
James G — Google review
Nice grassy bank to lay on , sun loungers €2.50 To hire . 6 different water slides available. € 12.50 admission and you cannot purchase a weekly monthly or yearly pass. So works out very expensive if you wanted to use on a regular basis.

Beach
Praia dos Supertubos in Peniche, Portugal is a popular destination for both beach lovers and surf enthusiasts. The long sandy beach is known for its windy conditions and attracts sunbathers as well as surfers from around the world. It has been recognized as one of the top surfing spots in Europe, offering perfect waves for surfing and bodyboarding. The beach also offers stunning views and is particularly famous for its breathtaking sunsets.
It’s been awhile since I had been in "Super Tubos" beach in Peniche, Portugal… I must say it was a delightful day I had last week. The beach boasts of lovely sunsets that are worth the visit, and it was cold, windy, but sunny and beautiful during my stay. One of the highlights of my visit to Super Tubos beach was taking a walk at sunset. The colors in the sky were simply breathtaking, and the view of the ocean from the beach was spectacular. It was a truly magical experience that I will always cherish. There were quite a few people surfing at the time…the sea was beautiful and the temperature wasn't bad. Despite the cold and windy weather, I found the sound of the waves to be quite relaxing. There is something calming about the rhythmic sound of the waves crashing against the shore. It was the perfect soundtrack to my sunset walk. Overall, I had a wonderful time at Super Tubos beach. The beach is a must-visit for anyone looking to experience the beauty of Peniche. I highly recommend this beach to anyone looking for a peaceful and serene environment to relax, unwind, and take in the breathtaking views or if you are a surfer this is a must!

I guess the most famous surf spot in Portugal (World Surf League stop) that produces awesome tubes. Powerful wave even on a small day so If you have not surf yet, this is not the apot for you yet - but swing by when the swell gets 6ft + to see how it should (or should not 😁) be done

Consolation Beach is a great spot with easy access and plenty of amenities. The sea water temperature is perfect for various activities like surfing, kite surfing, and bodyboarding. The area near Consolacao Fortress has thicker sand, while the rest of the beach offers a serene setting for relaxation and celebration. This quaint village in Portugal's coast provides an authentic experience with delicious seafood and friendly locals. It's also an ideal place to learn surfing or simply enjoy the natural beauty.
I still love this place. I fell in love with this place and is my go to peaceful place when I'm meditating. It's quaint, village feeling, quiet yet full of natural life. I live everything about Consolaçao. Also great place to learn surfing.

Great beach! Comfortable access and lots of amenities and things to see and do. Sea water temperature is so good. Take the surf lessons! World-class kite surfers will train there, as well. Sand is thicker close to the Consolação Fortress, so walk some 300 metres from the fortress to have soft sand under your feet, but bear in mind that part of the beach has no life guard surveillance.

The Oceanário restaurant offers delectable cuisine, exceptional service, a stunning setting by the sea, and a magnificent coastal vista. This family-run establishment has been delighting guests for two generations with their exquisite homemade Portuguese dishes. The proprietor, Fernando, is not only welcoming but also an exceptionally generous individual who ensures that every patron feels well taken care of. While some have mentioned the room being chilly and having plastic chairs, the overall consensus highlights the quality food and friendly staff at this delightful eatery.
Delicious 😋 food, great 👍 service, fabulous location, gorgeous seaside view. This family owned restaurant over two generations serves gourmet homemade Portuguese cuisine. Fernando the owner is a warm generous gentleman. Him and his family 👪 will take good care of you ❤️.

Very bad quality, no taste at all and expensive.. wouldn’t recommend to nobody and I will avoid this place
Eduard Š — Google review
I usually try to avoid writing bad review but this place has to be avoided. They first bring you bread/butter/olives… like many places do for free when you drink something… not this place, they bring it and then charge you for it either you like it or not. Came out to about 5E. The pork I got was clearly old, dry and many times I tried to get the servers attention and nothing… when they picked up the plate I mentioned my concern and I got rudely dismissed. This place is a tourist trap. Stay away as there are far better places to it around here.

Amazing quality food on a right price, 4 people with a fully belly only costed us 100 euros. Lovely view, staff was very helpful. Dishes are pretty generous! Greeting from Italy
Mariano P — Google review
We ordered two appetizers and two main dishes. As the food arrived we encounter that the food was either dragged through the kitchen floor, or the sanitary department isnt doing their job. We canceled everything we ordered and left immediately. Avoid at all cost. If something as simple as ham came this way I can't imagine what the food poisoning could be by eating their fish plates.

Seafood restaurant
Fish restaurant
Sol é Vida, a Portuguese restaurant known for its popularity and limited seating, provided prompt service despite the wait. The diverse menu included an unexpected octopus salad that lacked the anticipated taste but showcased the dominance of olive oil. On the other hand, their burger was surprisingly satisfying and accompanied by slightly less crispy fries. The coffee mousse dessert had a delectable and indulgent flavor. Two people could enjoy a meal at Sol é Vida for around $25.
Classic portuguese cuisine by the Ocean, came for the first time in 2019 never stoped coming back. delicious seafood and great house wine.

A great little cliffside / shoreline wooden restaurant with sea views. Inside and outside terrace seating. Friendly staff and a wide variety of mostly seafood dishes, although meats and burgers are also available, portions were very generous and a good selection of wines were available, dessert was brought to the table and you could choose your own.. Reservations are not possible here as it is so popular, lunchtime was busy, but be prepared to possibly wait in peak times. Definitely recommend if you're in the area. The restaurant only accepts payment by cash..

Simply AMAZING. The location is stunning, literally above the ocean, where you can enjoy a very beautiful sunset while dining. The staff has been very nice with us and the price we paid for the dinner was much better than we were expecting. The food was delicious and the waiting time reasonable. It's definitely a must go! Ps. You can only pay with cash :'/

Lovely restaurant. We had a platter of octopus, squid, and cuttlefish. Delicious oysters too. It was probably the best octopus I’ve had all trip. (There was a musician playing right next to the deck and his speakers were too loud for normal conversation volume, but I won’t fault the restaurant. I’d would probably sit inside next time if there is a musician playing.) cash only!

I went there at lunch time and it was packed with people and we sat down and quickly got service , me and other 2 people ordered burgers which shouldn’t take more than 40 minutes to make. We waited for 1 hour and 30 minutes or even more to get our food, there were people who arrived later than us ordered their food and still got their food earlier than us?? The server messed up my order but it’s okay because the drink service is quick.

MH Peniche is a contemporary hotel offering a range of amenities for a comfortable stay. With an outdoor pool, spa, and fitness center, it provides guests with various leisure options. The airy restaurant and ocean views add to the overall appeal of the hotel. Previous guests have praised the clean and comfortable rooms as well as the helpful staff. The location is ideal for those looking to enjoy beach activities such as surfing, making it a great choice for travelers seeking both relaxation and adventure.
Big room, modern but neutral interior. The pool needs some work, tiles are missing (doesn't look good and risk to injure). Here and there the paint is old (SPA). But considering it's Peniche with salty air, it's fairly well kept. Good gym. Spacious outside area, even playground and beach volleyball. Breakfast (14,99) was amazing, it's a buffet and I didn't miss anything. Close to a big road, that you won't hear at night. Prices vary due to the seasons, August weekends are pricey, but off season there are some good deals. Paid breakfast at the hotel, not with booking.com (it's cheaper).
J K — Google review
A nicely situated hotel with good amenities and superb staff! The rooms are big but slightly outdated and have some minor issues with the plumbing, but the excellent attitude of the whole staff more than makes up for this. The hotel is slightly outside of Peniche, slightly too far to walk, but has amazing views of the dunes and has a great indoor and outdoor pool.
Danique B — Google review
I stayed here for two nights. The hotel seems semi-brand new. No problems or issues during my stay. Easy access to the beach. If you don't need to be in downtown Peniche then this is a good spot for beach access.
Duane B — Google review
The hotel itself is probably 4 stars, but in our experience, this hotel is not 4 stars and is worth the money they charge! The location is very good, the rooms are clean. However, the outdoor pool is losing mosaic tiles on the floor (probably not maintained in a while). The staff seemed friendly, but unfortunately the bartender didn't even speak English (thanks to Google Translate, we were able to communicate). Our room also had a crack in the ceiling, so the tiles were broken. As well as the towel shelf and the showerhead have a very lose installation. They'll also answer in Portuguese because, as already mentioned, they don't have the language skills. I wasn't there alone either, but with my partner, who witnessed everything. I have videos and photos as proof if needed. The price we paid shouldn't really be a reason for loose pool stones. 😂

....what a disappointment!!!! Avoid this establishment at all costs. Due to their sheer incompetence, I lost my holiday in Portugal. They repeatedly failed to send the confirmation email because they had recorded my email address incorrectly — despite my calling several times to ensure everything was in order. Instead of correcting their error, they cancelled my booking and then claimed they were fully booked. The reception staff were unhelpful, incapable of offering any solution, and the manager refused to speak to me directly, hiding behind an email request. Their booking system is archaic and completely unreliable — you could very well arrive and find you have no reservation. Utterly unprofessional, careless, and unacceptable in this day and age. Archaic booking system, incompetent staff, and zero accountability. They took my details wrong, cancelled my booking, and left me without my holiday — then refused to fix their own mistake. Avoid at all costs.

Hotel is good. Location also. Problem is the charging solution for electric cars. Theoretically there are four chargers. But you can only activate them with a Portuguese card. No App. The hotel does not have a card for international guests. The instructions on the charger are only in Portuguese and the information from the staff is useless. Don‘t stay here, if you are counting on charging your car overnight. Down the street is a Hotel with a Tesla Destination Charger.

Restaurante do Parque in the Peniche region is highly regarded for its exceptional dining experience. The cuisine is superb, featuring delicious and fresh fish as well as meat options that are truly delectable. The staff is friendly and helpful, always willing to explain the dishes when needed. While prices may be slightly higher, they are considered fair given the quality of the ingredients used. However, it's worth noting that some customers have reported poor customer service at times.
We loved the place! Fish and seafood were amazingly fresh and tasty, special sauces from chef were super!😍 a waiter was kind and helpful, recommending the fastest and tastiest options from the menu - 10/10 experience! Also, it’s located in a nice area, peaceful, under the palm tree with a great view :)

Excellent food, bad customer service and really expensive prices...

Delicious super fresh fish! The staff is nice and explains the dishes when you need it. A bit expensive, mains around €20 but it’s normal for these quality fishes.

It is by far one of the best restaurant experiences in Peniche region! The food is great and staff is very Nice. 5/5! The fish is very fresh and prices are pretty fair!

Where to start... First they were honest that the fish was not fresh (5 days) because of some festival. All the food (soup, arroz de peixe, desert) were tasteless, seems like not seasoned at all and the prices were really really expensive, not worth. Appears that this place had changes because the past reviews were great. So it's a trick.

Fish was average, price was too much. The space is not cozy at all, extremely cold (everyone had jackets on) and no decoration. Seems like the waiter is the owner and does pretty much everything from bar service to cashier. As a result service was slow (45 minutes wait for main dishes and it was not even full). Not coming back.
