Tabor in 4 days

If you only have 4 days to spend in Tabor, we’ve narrowed down the top places you should check out to get the best experience of your time here.
Tábor is a historic hilltop town known for its well-preserved medieval center, founded by the Hussites in the 15th century. Visitors can explore narrow cobbled streets leading to Žižka Square, gothic and renaissance townhouses, and underground tunnels beneath the old town. The town’s fortress-like walls overlook the Lužnice River and nearby Jordán Reservoir, offering scenic views and easy access to walking and cycling routes in the South Bohemian countryside. Museums, churches, and seasonal festivals highlight the region’s religious and military history.
With favorites like Bechyňská, Church of the Transfiguration on Mount Tabor, and Water Tower Gallery, we’ll make sure you don’t miss out on all the must sees. We even included some of our favorite food spots around the area, like Restaurace Škochův dům and Smíchov 1869 so you can get the best taste of Tabor while you’re here. To see our full list of food recommendations, check out our best restaurants post. If you're traveling on a budget, you can check out our cheap eats post.

Tabor Zoo is a delightful destination for animal enthusiasts and families alike, offering an engaging experience with a variety of animals, including some protected species. This charming zoo features not only fascinating wildlife but also amenities like an eatery and a playground for children. One of the unique highlights is the opportunity to spend the night at Tabor Zoo, where visitors can witness the transition from day to night as different animals come alive after hours.
Small but nice zoo having animals like fosa and mara. So nice!
Hana S — Google review
This place is more of a zoo-in-the-making rather than a full zoo. From the moment you arrive, you can tell it's not going to be a good experience. Hard to find parking in a gravel lot to a confusing entrance, to the very rough walking surface, this sanctuary needs a lot of work. The majority of animals (specially the big ones) were in hiding because of the really hot day. Walking paths are very uneven and slippery in some spots, creating a safety hazard. And beware of the area around the hogs enclosure...it's very muddy (with a very foul odour). Usually, my children love to visit a zoo, but here, with the lack of animals on view, a rough walking terrain, coupled with a hot & humid day, they wanted to go home after an hour, not even wanting to see all the animals. For the price of the entry ticket...It was boring.

A great medium-sized zoo! Very clean, well organized, and with wonderful staff who made the “zookeeper for a day” experience truly special. Friendly, professional, and passionate team – highly recommended!
Hanna M — Google review
To be honest I loved the Zoo, I saw some comments people saying that it was small but it is not, you get to see a lot of animals really close and in open space not behind the glass or in a cage, it's good for a one time visit . Lions are the Heroes of this Zoo
Abhii — Google review
Zoo Tabor is one of the small ones in CZ but good to come and see it here. 1-2 hours would be enough to be spent there. 110Kc/4 Euro adult entrance is cheap. You can see lions, tiger, bears.... Also great colorful parrots and many more...only disadvantage is very rough parking lot but for free;) Also the walk trails in the Zoo are just gravel so not good for families with baby buggies;)
Erik — Google review
This zoo is placed not far from the city, but I would recommend driving there. Parking is free and should fit your car too. Entrance is not expensive, and you can also choose “patron” tier. As far as I understood, it should be done in advance. As for the space itself, zoo is not the biggest I’ve seen, but there are some interesting animals to be seen. Moreover, some of them are accessible, so you can pet goats, for example. Unfortunately some cages were empty, for example, we didn’t find guinea pigs in their house. I recommend going clockwise, this way you will be able to see every animal in the zoo. Note that some areas have a lot of grass so in the summer time you will have to search thoroughly for the animals. Maybe it would be a wise idea to get binoculars or good lenses for your camera. There are only two restaurants placed not far from each other, so it would be wise to get some water with you. Toilets are placed outside, but everything is clean. Overall it is a nice place to visit, cozy and easy to cover in half of the day.
Viktor M — Google review
This is a zoo where electric fences are on the outside of some enclosures, right on the path, where children will naturally touch. And you can hear they are live and not for show. If the owner is willing to let young children get shocked, I can't imagine the level of empathy they have for the animals. The paths are dangerous for young kids to walk, but so uneaven, it's hard to have kids in a pram. Toilets are porta-loos, smelly and overflowing.

Observation Decks & Towers
The observation deck Hýlačka in South Czechia is a beautiful place to admire nature throughout the year. The tower, which offers breathtaking views, can be quite exhilarating on windy days. Admission costs 20 CK and can be paid at a ticket machine or through contactless payment. It's important to note that when paying for multiple people, each person must go through the gate individually.
The tower is mesmerizing. I loved the view. Also the parking lot is close nearby, like 5 mins by foot.

This is nice place to see nature around. South Czechia is beautiful during all the seasons. The tower is quite moving on the top upstairs when windy. The tower is for 20 CK and you pay by ticket machine. There is contactless payment possibility as well. We didn't try it. When you pay for more people you have to pay one by one and go through the gate straight away. There is a small kiosk where a Lady sits in case something happens, so she can help. But she was not much willing and kind to us. 😁 Enjoy the view xxx
Jenseney — Google review
Loved the view .. Nice place to go with family. You have to pay 20kc, but it's worth it.

Nice view, the lookout is quite high. There is nothing around ( any restaurant, caffee or food store ), buy we walked to the lookout from Tábor and the view was an awesome reward for our effort.

Specialty Museums
The Museum of Chocolate and Marzipan is a delightful attraction that offers a whimsical experience with its intricate marzipan dioramas. Visitors can embark on an educational journey through the history of chocolate, from ancient times to modern-day confections, while admiring impressive chocolate sculptures depicting various figures. The museum also provides insight into the process of crafting chocolate and marzipan, complete with adorable displays.
Great fun for our little ones from 3-10 years, they had so much fun admiring all the chocolate exhibits, then making their own creations using marzipan and sprinkles. The smell of cocoa, especially by the train, is amazing. There is a fairytale underground. One of them is very dark and could be quite scary for the very young ones. ….Still having fun at home with the marzipan multi color kits, making food for dollies and such.
FLnurseER1 — Google review
I did not go to the museum, because the ticket is expensive - 280 czk. But I bought a delicious chocolate bar here. Truly great quality Bean to Bar chocolate
M — Google review
This is the type of place that could be so bad that it was good, but the smell inside just makes it awful. though it does have some highlights like Mr. Bean and his car made out of chocolate, and who can forget Check Republics largest interactive chocolate train. The barbies with dresses made out of a combination of chocklate and fabric, the rosedress (also combo), the small devils in the basement who just drink all day instead of processing the chocolate. Basically, the type of exibit that may scarare your kids enough to give them nightmares... help you take a break from chocolate (who am I kidding, just go get a new chocolatebar, and you'll be fine). But if you are looking for a place to scare your kids off chocolate, this is the place for you! Or if you are in the erea and curious about just how bad this can be and have time to spare, I'd say go for it. It's deffenetly a memorable place ✨️

Disclaimer: Do not visit this museum! We were in Tabor and the museum was around the corner from our apartment so we wanted to give it a try. Compared to the other very reasonable priced museums in town, the ticket is way too expensive (250 crowns per adult, that’s around 10€). Most of the exhibited chocolate models are old and there are tons of food moths flying around. The smell in some rooms is disgusting which is weird for a museum about chocolate and marzipan. We were totally disappointed as we did not learn anything about chocolate or marzipan making. The only slightly interesting thing was the so called „Fairy Cellar“ which reminded us of the museum of the Husseits in the center of town. To be honest I wouldn’t even go here if it was free, what a waste of time and money.
Celina B — Google review
A neat little museum dedicated to chocolate and marzipan. There's plenty of information (much of it in English as well as Czech) about the history and production of our favourite sweet treat. All the best displays are actually made of marzipan; there's some impressive models (including the town square and the castle) made in exquisite detail. OK, so the fairy tale cellar is a bit odd (maybe one for the kids!), and it's a little on the expensive side, but if you're in Tábor it's worth a look. Tip: Try the hot chocolate. It's pure melted chocolate (variety of types to choose from), served in espresso cups. You don't need more than that!
Robin W — Google review
If you have 270 czk , don't spend it here go to coffee budik in front. Strange creatures are making strange noises in the basement. Just think, it was such a worthless activity that even paying 40 CZK would have been heartbreaking. Seven of us visited. We could have probably bought two acres of cocoa tree land with the entrance fee in total we gave.
Ebrar O — Google review
Visiting the chocolate museum was such a great experience! It has exhibits and activities for younger children and for adults. There's also a workshop where we could make our own chocolate and marzipan creations.
Penelope K — Google review
Interesting exhibitions! So many marzipan and chocolate sculptures that were fun to see. The best part was tasting the homemade chocolate afterwards!

The first written record of this church is from 1361. A relatively small church, surrounded with roofed passages opening inwards, called arcaded walks. These have reliefs consecrated to saints. The premises has ten onion domes similar to the one roofing the church. The wooden Nativity scene behind the chapel and the reliefs on the side corridor are worth seeing. The large cemetery adjacent to the church is well tended and colorful with newly places flowers.

Restaurant
Restaurace Škochův dům is an excellent Czech eatery serving traditional dishes that truly embody the essence of Czech cuisine. The staff members are amiable, efficient, and provide prompt service. Moreover, the food's quality is exceptional, meeting all expectations associated with Czech gastronomy. Situated in a convenient location at the central square, this restaurant offers reasonably priced meals compared to other establishments in the area.
I had a wonderful experience at this restaurant. The atmosphere was cozy and inviting, the service was attentive, and the food was excellent. I especially appreciated that it’s dog-friendly, and the noise level was pleasantly quiet, making it a perfect spot for a relaxing meal. Highly recommended!

Very nice Czech restaurant for typical Czech food. The service is friendly good and quick. The quality of the food is also very good. Exactly what you expect from the Czech kitchen. This place is on the central square, but the prices are low for this locality. The toilets could be cleaner. When you are hungry and want good local food for an honest price I really recommend this place.

Overpriced food that normally costs 60-70% of the price. You can pay and enjoy this tourist trap if u wanns enjoy sitting at the main square at a fancy house. Mostly meat of course. Spaghetti olio e peperoncino for about 250czk are a joke. Tabor deserves better dining options than this.

Tourist trap. Two salads missed off the set daily menu with no explanation. Food ok but nothing special for the price. Hope they sleep better at night knowing they have ripped off more tourists. A poor advert for a pleasant town. Avoid.
Chris D — Google review
Food ranged from "decent" to "pretty good for a tourist trap." Service isn't as good. This place won't serve voda točená (tap water) despite it being on the menu. Look, don't put it on the menu if you don't want people ordering it. Asked three times and was finally delivered a bottle at three times the price. This place also charges US cards in Dollars at an unfavorable exchange rate instead of local Czech Koruna despite my friend's insistence to be charged in local currency. One final warning: started playing non-stop death metal Saturday night at 9pm.

(Translated by Google) I don't recommend this restaurant if you can call it that, because it's more like sitting outside with a beer, for one reason, it's the arrogance of the waitresses. I needed to connect to Wi-Fi, the name and password of which is posted on the door to the business. When I went to the bar to ask why I can't log in, I was told that it's been half a year!!! reported to the grounds manager, let me go find him. At the same time, the other 2 wi-fi restaurants are password-protected and cannot be accessed even on request. If the staff leaves a sign showing the wi-fi name and password, they can't be surprised that people come asking how to connect!! At the same time, this restaurant is a gold mine, as many people gather here, because it is in a good location and in "nature". It just takes a little willingness and professionalism and not just cashiering for refreshments.

The architecturally precious Burgher Houses: Including Škoch House and several others, representing several architectural styles. The square often hosts various cultural events and festivals. Enjoy local cuisine at nearby restaurants and cafes.

Nice square in the old part of Tabor. Sometimes there is a market here, other days there are just a few parkings. Free parking between 08:00 and 20;00. Few decent restaurants and bars in this area.

Tower of the Church of the Transfiguration

3.7

Observation deck
The Tower of the Church of the Transfiguration offers an authentic and adventurous experience, with 200 original narrow stairs leading to a 75-meter high tower. The climb is steep but rewarding, providing unparalleled views of Tabor. Visitors can interact with a gentleman at the top who sells old coins and banknotes while enjoying the panoramic scenery. Despite the challenging ascent, the unique experience and affordable entrance fee make it a worthwhile visit for those seeking an off-the-beaten-path adventure.
Some of these reviewers should stick to Disneyland. The chap at the top is fine - he even had change for us. His German is good - sadly, ours isn’t! And yes, you do have to get under the bell and it’s not floodlit - it’s a bit of an adventure, and if you don’t like that, then this isn’t for you. It was great fun!
ME D — Google review
Well, the tower may need some cleaning up and maintenance as it gathered a fair amount of pigeons excrements over the years. You will crawl under the bell and as you make it to the top there is a nice view over the city.

(Translated by Google) The view was good, but the road was bad, you had to go under the bell. The stairs were in questionable condition, the lighting was inadequate and overall the journey there and back was disastrous! The worst part was the gentleman at the top of the tower who was not helpful, a lady with a child asked how many steps it was and the gentleman told her that it was written on the door. I found that unfriendly! I definitely do not recommend it, save your approximately 70 crowns. To mi přišlo nepřátelské! Rozhodně nedoporučuji, ušetřete svých přibližně 70 korun.

(Translated by Google) Downstairs they are already buzzing you that you should have change, otherwise they won't let you in after climbing the 200 stairs at the top. Payment only in cash. At the top, almost nothing could be seen from the tower, because only one small window was open, the others closed, although it was nice outside. Mainly because they sell stamps and banknotes up there, probably from the collection of the gentleman who collects the entrance fee. If I want tourists, then I should behave differently - offer cashless payment or get the money back. And for 80 CZK, you can also offer more than a small view through one window.

The Church of the Transfiguration on Mount Tabor is a stunning architectural gem nestled in the heart of Tabor. Constructed in the early 20th century, this church showcases an intriguing blend of Art Nouveau and neo-Gothic styles that captivates visitors. The Hussite Museum in Tabor is a must-visit for those interested in the city's rich history tied to the Hussite religious movement. Founded by Protestant radicals known as Taborites in 1420, the museum offers insights into this significant period of Czech history. Visitors can explore the underground cellars around the main square, where a guided tour provides a glimpse into their historical use and significance.
Very interesting and illustrative museum. Also suitable for children as there is a lot to touch and experience for yourself. Unfortunately, not everything is in English. The guided tour through the catacombs was also only in Czech with accompanying material to read in many languages. But the staff make a lot of effort to overcome any language barriers and the whole museum conveys Czech national pride and the importance of the Hussites for the Czech Image today.

Worth a look, very good interesting Tabor city, Reformation & Hussite history. Most of the exhibits are in Czech. The tunnel tour is worth a look. Request an English tour and you might be lucky to get an English speaker. Otherwise they supply an information sheet in English. There are also lockable wine vats to place bags or backpacks in as well.

A good museum showing the history the Hussites and Tabor. There is a surprising amount in this museum and if you have an interest in the history of the Hussites, this is the place for you. There are quite detailed exhibits showing much of the history. Under the museum lies a series of tunnels that can be travelled through with a guide. However it is worth noting that the guide spoke only Czech and for someone who is not a Czech speaker, the tunnels might be less interesting, although still quite good.

I thought it was wonderful. I was the only one on the tour, possibly because I came on a Wednesday morning in January when it was snowing. The underground tour is extensive, and I learned a lot about how people lived hundreds of years ago. On ground level, there is a museum dedicated to two Czech heroes: Jan Hus and Jan Ziska. You should learn about them.

However, they interpret it in their own way, and the condition of the boards is visibly worse than the stated rating. The business has priority, the customer can go sliding. Water Tower Gallery

Art gallery
The Water Tower Gallery, located in Tabor, Czech Republic, is a historical landmark dating back to the 15th century. This Renaissance water tower features arched gables and sgraffitos and offers panoramic views of the city. The gallery inside spans three floors and showcases various themes through a collection of photographs. Visitors can climb steep wooden stairs to explore the exhibitions, including non-traditional settings like those featuring Fr. Soul's drawings.
(Translated by Google) The Renaissance water tower, decorated with arched gables and sgraffitos, was built at the turn of the 15th and 16th centuries and is a beautiful example of a technical monument. In 1492, they built the Jordán dam reservoir in Tábor. It was necessary to get water outside the walls. The old Tábor waterworks was used for this purpose - it was originally located under the Jordan dam, deep under the city walls, from where water was pushed by a unique water pump into the water tower and from it distributed through wooden pipes to the network of city fountains (thus overcoming a height difference of 32 meters). The tower was seriously damaged by fire in 1559, but was restored, as well as the equipment of the old waterworks, repaired and supplemented many times, and served until 1873, when it was replaced by a modern all-metal pump. The water tower definitely lost its importance only with the construction of the new Tábor water plant, which was put into operation on May 14, 1936. Today, there is a gallery here on several floors. V roce 1492 vybudovali táborští údolní přehradní nádrž Jordán. Vodu bylo potřeba dostat za hradby. K tomu sloužila stará táborská vodárna - původně nacházela pod jordánskou hrází, hluboko pod městskými hradbami, odkud byla vytlačována voda unikátním vodním čerpadlem do vodárenské věže a z ní rozváděna dřevěným potrubím do sítě městských kašen (takže překonávala výškový rozdíl 32 metrů). The beginnings of waterworks and water distribution in this city date back to 1502. The oldest waterworks in Tabor were originally located under the Jordan Reservoir, deep under the city walls, from where water was pumped to a water tower and a network of fountains. It is certainly noteworthy that the equipment of the former waterworks (newly built after the fire, but of the same construction), repaired and supplemented many times, was used until 1873, when it was replaced by a modern, all-metal pump. The water tower definitely lost its importance only with the construction of the new Tábor waterworks, which was put into operation on May 14, 1936.

Nestled in the heart of Tabor's central square, Restaurace Beseda is a delightful culinary gem that beautifully marries traditional Czech cuisine with innovative twists. As I explored the area, I was drawn to its inviting atmosphere and impressive menu. One standout dish was a praline of blue cheese paired with marinated vegetables and cranberries—an absolute treat for the taste buds! The presentation was equally stunning, making it a feast for both the eyes and palate.
My niece and I like to visit places with interesting history, so when we chose Tabor, I researched the restaurants and their menus as well as top attractions. One item on the menu I was dying to try, was “a praline of blue cheese, accompanied by marinated vegetables, cranberries, and a cheese wafer. I was not disappointed, it was absolutely delicious, with incredible presentation. Our main course consisted of traditional, very tasty and creamy dill sauce, tender boiled beef neck, and dumplings – a huge portion I could not possibly finish. The other was a succulent sliced roast beef on arugula pesto, with tasty horseradish mayo, cherry tomatoes, and home made bread. The house wine was delicious, service impeccable by a young waiter, who unfortunately went on a break when we decided to leave – we wanted to thank him personally. Even though the ambience is a little too open for me, the location, menu, prices, and service made me want to come back next time I am visiting.

The Green Tree Restaurant is a pleasant establishment located in the city center, near the square. The staff is extremely friendly, and the food is delicious. The restaurant is known for its cleanliness and offers a diverse lunch menu. However, finding parking may be challenging due to its central location. Although the prices are slightly higher than average, they are reasonable considering the high quality of food served. This beer pub provides an enjoyable dining experience with sizable portions and excellent food quality.

Bistro
Nestled in the charming town of Tábor, Thir - vinný bar, bistro is a delightful gem that showcases the best of Czech gastronomy. Helmed by the renowned Honza Culik, this stylish venue not only offers an impressive selection of natural wines but also serves up exquisite international cuisine with a local twist. The atmosphere is modern and inviting, making it perfect for both casual diners and those seeking a more refined experience.
Thir, best place where to stay for weekend. Very comfortable room, amazing wines and great food.

Small, modern, stylish restaurant with fast and kind service (multilingual), splendid international cuisine with Czech variety and tasteful local beer. A bit posh but no harm done. Wine selection also regarded highly. The pricing is a bit higher but fully justified. Such restaurant would fit to any large West European city with no problem. Good for Tabor to have it.

Hidden gem. Great quality, good service, which comes at price, yet it's a must if you're in Tabor.

We have knocked to their door on Monday and eventhough the restaurant is only open Thursday- Sunday the hospitality of an owner blew our minds. He invited us for lunch and it was delicious! Fine Czech products and vine was what we were looking for ;)

Was a bit surprised to read such reviews. Maybe the night we were there was an off night for the restaurant. We thought the dishes were average at best. Simply put, prices didn't match the quality of the food.

One of the best places to hangout in this town. Great wine and beer. But good luck getting a table there, especially on weekend evenings

Restaurant
Palcat is a delightful dining spot that truly breaks the mold of typical hotel restaurants. Often, these establishments can feel generic and overpriced, but Palcat offers an inviting atmosphere with a modern and stylish interior that feels more like a cozy library than a standard eatery. The lunch menu is reasonably priced, making it accessible for families looking to enjoy quality meals without breaking the bank.

(Translated by Google) The restaurant is very nice, modern and stylish. The coffee was absolutely excellent ❤️. With most coffees, you can feel a bit of bitterness, probably from long-term use of the coffee machine, in this restaurant it was excellent and did not taste bitter at all. As for the mojito, it was very good. You can have both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks here. The mojito was beautifully refreshing and the taste was perfectly balanced - neither sour nor too minty. Unfortunately, I didn't eat at the restaurant, but I certainly wasn't here for the last time. I believe that the food here is absolutely fantastic, both in terms of taste and appearance. Paying by card is not a problem here and the service here was very pleasant, helpful and nice. She took very good care of us. So I can only recommend and look forward to the next visit! 🤗 (Original) Restaurace je velmi pěkná, moderní a stylová. Káva byla naprosto výborná ❤️. U většiny káv jde cítit trochu hořkosti pravděpodobně z dlouhodobého užívání kávovaru, v teto restauraci byla vynikající a vůbec hořce nechutnala. 🤗

On the other hand, they are still a step away from first-class experiential gastronomy. The environment is nice, but a bit lacking in atmosphere. The staff is nice and helpful, but for example refilling wine or taking away excess cutlery is completely out of their modus operandi. The food was excellent, but not memorable. He lacks that unattainable something that lights up the guest's face in a moment of complete satisfaction. But I root for them. I liked it here and enjoyed it.

A wonderful little museum focusing on the military leader Jan Žižka, who was born nearby. His training tactics and use of armed wagons in battles were innovative, and there are examples of weapons as well as model of his army using a mobile fortification against enemy troops. Many artifacts are shown in clear, well organized display cabinets, labeled in Czech and German. Short films are played from wall monitors and there is a delightful kids corner with coloring books and puzzles. The entry fee is nominal, and small souvenirs are available, as well as local honey. Restrooms are outside in a separate building. A wide maintained dirt walkway around the museum leads to Žižka’s giant monument and further on to his supposed place of birth marked with a stone.

(Translated by Google) Unfortunately, we wanted to take a look there. The internet says it is accessible, but the reality is different. Upon arrival, there was a sign on the door with a phone number, supposedly for the castellan, which no one answered. Even from the outside, you can see that the castle is neglected and no one takes care of it. Old cracked flower pots on the walls, lots of cobwebs and a tree growing right in the middle of the side door. When we asked, maybe there should be social apartments there. It's a shame for such a castle. I'm surprised the owners don't invest in it. It would certainly have a wide application. Určitě by měl široké uplatnění.

Hrad Kotnov a Bechyňská brána, located in the charming town of Tabor, is a must-visit for history enthusiasts and families alike. This grand gatehouse features an impressive 25-meter tall tower that not only serves as a lookout point but also houses a small movie theater showcasing an engaging film about its rich history—completely free!
Grand ornate gatehouse to the city with a 25m tall tower housing a small movie theater on the ground floor shoving a short but interesting movie about the history of the tower, free. Further up are several levels of wonderful displays of Tábor’s history across the ages, attractively arranged to interest kids and adults alike. There are hands on exhibits, and signage in Czech and English. Several steep wooden staircases lead up to the top of the tower with an amazing 360° view of the city and surrounding areas. Entry fee of about $4, reduced $3, credit cards accepted. Since the main Hussite Museum is closed for renovations, this is a wonderful alternative to learn about Tábor’s history.

The museum of Kotnov tower is well done, interactive and interesting especially to kids. The view from the top of the tower is beautiful. The only thing that negatively affected our visit was a grumpy lady in the cash register who objected to our three children using their interactive grain mill. They used it properly and calmly. We traveled all the way from the U.S. to explore and experience Tabor’s history and the rude interaction definitely impacted our experience.

Transferring from Tabor, Czech train station to Gemund No ( Austria) seemed like it would be complicated first by local train then by bus then by train again but employees and passengers were happy to direct us. Upon arrival at Ceske Velenice station, a bus was waiting to bring to Gemund No station. It took about ten minutes then upon arrival staff at Gemund No station told us exactly where to get the train going to Vienna ( Wien in Czech)

Everything is labeled and if you are lucky you will see climbers there (for them there is a map with climbing routes). It is in a beautiful setting along the river (just watch out for ticks, I brought one right away). The only minus is that they have poorly maintained pointers to the exposure (we've gone enough).

The service was nice, smiling and constantly moving. The lunch portion was so large that I don't even remember when I had one like it, and in terms of taste, it was perfect. The price, considering the location, quantity and quality, is unbeatable. I will gladly return there. (Translated by Google) My visit to the restaurant was very disappointing. The staff gave the impression that they were doing their job with minimal enthusiasm and interest in the guests. I ordered the fried cheese with potatoes and tartar sauce. The cheese was excessively runny, which negatively affected its overall consistency, but it did not stand out in any way in terms of taste. The potatoes were overcooked, and an attempt to flavor them with cumin did not bring about the desired improvement. Tartar sauce was evidently a commercially available product. All the dishes served suffered from significant deficiencies in seasoning—some were excessively salty, while others lacked any significant flavor. Overall, it was a very bland and disappointing dining experience. (Original) Má návštěva restaurace byla značně neuspokojivá. Obsluha působila dojmem, že vykonává svou práci s minimálním nadšením a zájmem o hosty. Objednal jsem si smažený sýr s brambory a tatarskou omáčkou. Sýr byl nadměrně rozteklý, což negativně ovlivnilo jeho celkovou konzistenci, avšak chuťově nijak nevyčníval. Brambory byly převařené, přičemž pokus o jejich dochucení kmínem nepřinesl žádoucí zlepšení. Tatarská omáčka byla evidentně běžně dostupný kupovaný produkt. Všechna podávaná jídla trpěla výraznými nedostatky v dochucení—některá byla nadměrně slaná, jiná naopak postrádala jakoukoli výraznější chuť. Celkově se jednalo o velmi nevýrazný a neuspokojivý gastronomický zážitek.

During my stay at the hotel, I discovered this fantastic restaurant. Despite the late hour, the kitchen was still open, and I was warmly welcomed by a friendly waiter who guided me to a table. I started my dinner with a delicious soup, followed by a delightful schnitzel with fries and salad. After a long day, I could enjoy a superb meal here in peace without rushing. Absolutely 5 stars worthy!

(Translated by Google) The onion rings are great, as is the garlic dip. I liked the burger and tortilla, definitely better than average, but what bothered me a lot was the wait. Wait almost an hour for food? Even when there were about 10 people in the restaurant? It's really not a good business card... Otherwise, the lady who served us was very nice, but the waiting... (Original) Cibulové kroužky pecka, stejně tak česnekový dip. Burger a tortila mě chutnaly, rozhodně lepší průměr, ale co mě hodně vadilo bylo čekání. Skoro hodinu čekat na jídlo? (Translated by Google) In a word, a disaster. I had a burger, my husband had a tomahawk steak. The restaurant was empty, except for a few regulars having a beer, and yet we waited over an hour for our food. The burger was ready first, so it probably sat in the kitchen the whole time before the steak was cooked. As for the burger, the meat was completely tasteless, tall and too long. The whole burger was completely dry, the only sauce there was a little on each half of the bun, which was so disgusting that it was really inedible. Old, rotten, dried out and crumbled all over. The steak was completely tasteless, hard, so hard that you couldn't even cut it with a steak knife and incredibly dried out. It was supposedly accompanied by a school salad in which Balkan cheese was somehow missing. For 1250,- I would really imagine something else. A big disappointment and NEVER going to this place again. Although the waiter was pleasant, when we complained he just told us that he doesn't go to the kitchen, that he doesn't cook it🤣 (Original) Jedním slovem katastrofa.

Off the beaten path
For day 4, if you don’t mind the extra trek, today covers more off the beaten path places like Jan Hus memorial. Not quite as popular as Hussite Museum in Tabor, but still highly rated among many travelers. Accounting for getting around and average time spent, today’s activities could take about 6 hours.

The Jan Hus memorial commemorates a Catholic clergyman who voiced his dissent against the pope and the concept of purchasing forgiveness for sins. His call for reformation within the Catholic church eventually sparked the Protestant movement. As a consequence, he was expelled from the church and later executed by being burned alive. The Jan Hus memorial stands as a significant historical landmark, symbolizing religious defiance and advocating for change within established institutions.

Hus's monument is located in the southwestern part of Hus's Park on Hus's Square. The monument was built on the initiative of the Society for the Construction of the Hus Monument. The foundation stone was laid on July 6, 1927, and it was handed over to the public on July 6, 1928. Bílek conceived the Hus monument as a temple - a place of sacrifice, as an open book of the history of Hussites. On a large circular concrete plinth, a larger-than-life-size bronze sculpture of Jan Hus stands in the foreground, set on a granite plinth, with a carved text ("flames moving towards truth"). (Translated by Google) The monument to Jan Hus, one of the most significant reformers in the history of the Catholic Church, is located in the city park of the same name in Tábor. The idea of creating this memorial belongs to Frantisek Bilek, one of the most prominent sculptors of the Czech Republic at the beginning of the 20th century. The outstanding Czech thinker, ideologist and preacher Jan Hus was born in the small town of Husinec in 1369. After graduating from the University of Prague in 1396, he received a Master of Arts degree and began giving his own lectures. Beginning in 1401, Jan Hus began to preach in the Church of St. Michael, and a year later received the position of rector of the private Bethlehem chapel. In his sermons, he openly castigated the vices of the Catholic Church: the sale of indulgences and the desire to instill blind obedience among parishioners. For this he was accused of heresy, and then executed on July 6, 1415. The death of John Hus led to prolonged Hussite wars between his followers and the Catholics. The opening of the monument took place on July 6, 1928 in Jan Hus Park, and was timed to coincide with the 513th anniversary of his death.

Holečkovy sady, named after the renowned writer and translator Josef Holeček, were established in the 1830s around Tabor's historical core. The orchards offer a peaceful retreat with their lush greenery, providing a perfect setting for leisurely strolls and relaxation. Visitors can also enjoy various attractions along the way, making it an ideal spot for families to explore. The beautiful view of House's Mill adds to the charm of this tranquil oasis.

The restaurant has an ambient atmosphere with medieval style and design with delicious food and the menu is confusingly written in English but if you know the Czech menu it’s delicious and filling when served! A good value for your money

My favourite restaurant in Tabor. Very interesting choices of vegetables along with the pork leg dish. Nice old looking restaurant with friendly staff.

What a lovely and cosy restaurant! The service was excellent, and my evening started perfectly with a delicious soup, followed by a delightful dinner. This restaurant is truly worthy of 5 stars! Highly recommended for anyone looking for a cosy dining experience with great service and delicious food.

We had a nice lunch here on our day trip in Tábor. The food was tasty and reasonably priced, service was friendly and fast. And the interior décor was everything and more you would expect from a historically rich town such as Tábor.

Cosy and medieval atmosphere restaurant. Delicious and quality food. Helpful and kind service. But utterly silly rules: no fries on its own. They didn't want to give us the main menu, only day's menu. Strange.

Good restaurant..we have tried Tàbor garlic soup, potato pork dumplings, pork rib roast, salad etc…it was really good and service also.

Bad waitress and they forgot our meal so it took them an hour to bring it. Food was okay though but all together we left with a bad feeling

Diners can indulge in a diverse selection of meats, including succulent steaks, hearty soups, and flavorful pasta dishes. For those with a sweet tooth, the café also serves delectable ice cream sundaes that are sure to satisfy any dessert craving. This charming spot comes highly recommended by visitors who have been captivated by its vibrant atmosphere and efficient service.
We visited this restaurant on the recommendation of a friend and were so impressed that we returned just two days later. It’s a popular spot, and both times we went, it was almost full, yet the service remained remarkably fast and efficient. We definitely appreciated that several of the ladies spoke English, which made communication easier. The highlight, without a doubt, was the chef. The meals were not only fresh and vibrant but packed with incredible flavours. It’s clear that great care goes into every dish, making it a truly memorable dining experience.

Average food, good service but not possible to pay with card in 2018? Completely ridicolous....

As a health conscious person and a lover of fresh ingredients, I think I ate here 8 times during my 2 week stay in Tábor. I loved every meal! The staff is really friendly and helpful, and the atmosphere is clean, quiet, inviting and peaceful. Don't forget a take away dessert for later! I tried every kind of burfi they had, all scrumptious! Thank you!

Went there with my daughter and 3 year old niece. Food was good and the place was nice. The pizza sauce (or should I say salsa) isn’t what I am used to but it is good too, just a bit weird when I first took a bite. The waitress was very nice and talked to my niece and my niece liked it there very much. If we visit here again we will definitely come back! I recommend.
