Castle
Sights & Landmarks
The Castle of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, meaning "Castle of the New Pope," was once a summer residence for Popes Clement V and John XXII. Although much of the castle has been destroyed over time, it remains an impressive sight with its historical significance. Visitors can explore what used to be the wine store and admire panoramic views of the village and Rhone Valley from the old windows.
WALK up to the top and check it out. It is what's left of the Popes' summer residence from hundreds of years ago. Gorgeous view. There's a restaurant, wine cave and ice cream spot on the way up (and down) too. No tickets. No tour. Parking at top. Just walk around, take pics and enjoy the view. Easy.
Ann-Marie — Google review
Lovely stop near the end of the day. Excellent views all around the area. Easy walk into town and a wine bar before 7:00 up on top or fabulous restaurant after 7:00. Well worth the stop
Jeff H — Google review
Interesting to see. Good views over the countryside towards Mont Ventoux. Not worth going out of your way to see the chateau but if staying close of visiting for wine then pop up the hill.
Lance M — Google review
The ruins of an old castle are so beautiful and shining there alone. The view is so beautiful from there. Beautiful sunset, and the reflection of the loght on the castle is amazing.
Gamze D — Google review
The Castle of Chateauneuf-de-Pape is a great historical monument related to the village and Avignon. It’s also offering a nice view above the wineries, the Rhone river and Avignon.
Tamás E — Google review
THE location in town, why it all exists. Lovely views, either walk up from town or park after driving up.

The palace is ruins, but still an interesting sight to see, as it has a pretty view overlooking a valley.

Les Caves Saint Charles SAS, housed in a 13th-century cellar, offers exclusive Chateauneuf-du-Pape tastings and wine experiences. Their Maitre Sommelier provides insightful knowledge about wine tasting. It's recommended to book tastings in advance as they are by appointment only. Visitors have enjoyed free 60-minute wine tastings and found the scheduling process easy on their user-friendly website.
Les Caves St Charles is a MUST when visiting Chateauneuf-du-Pape! What an experience! Entering the cave is like walking through history. Guy is so knowledgeable on the history of the town, the wine and the wine makers. The cave offers a tasting of several different wine domaines in one spot, which is nice because it’s hard to stop at every winery. Can’t recommend this place enough!
Tiffany M — Google review
This was a wonderful tasting! Highly recommend it. Guy was so knowledgeable about wine and really shared some beautiful local wines! The caves were incredible!
John C — Google review
Very nice place to have wine tasting or cooking class. Knowledgeable people with the most delicate wine selection from small domains.

We spoiled ourselves by having a private lunch with pairings after our wine tasting. The food was superb. An experience will we never forget. It was absolutely wonderful overlooking the Rhône River and all the wineries.

We had a lovely tasting with Valentine - she was very knowledgeable and recommended some great wines (and restaurants in the area). We will definitely come back next time we visit!

I highly recommend stopping in for a wine tasting experience with Guy Bremond at Les Caves St. Charles in Chateauneuf-du-pape. Guy is very knowledgeable and presents wonderful wines while providing history on winemaking in the region. Do not miss this if you are in the area. Thank you, Guy!

We had an incredible wine tasting at Les Caves St. Charles on a recent visit to Châteauneuf-du-Pape. The area has such a rich wine growing history with so many different wine styles to sample. We couldn’t believe that Les Caves offers FREE 60-minute wine tastings, and scheduling could not be easier on Les Caves’ user-friendly website. We arrived and were greeted by a lovely, knowledgeable woman who enthusiastically guided us downstairs into an intimate, private tasting room. Les Caves has several private tasting rooms, each below ground and designed as mini caves. For an hour our host guided us through six different local wines, each distinctive in style. At the conclusion, we were free to exit Les Caves owing nothing. Of course, we bought a mixed case of fantastic wine that can’t be purchased in the U.S. Les Caves was a highlight of our visit to this legendary wine growing region.

Restaurant
La Maisouneta is a restaurant in Chateauneuf du Pape that offers fantastic food, a great wine list, and an amazing view. The place has an upscale exterior but the interior and toilet are poorly decorated. Some visitors found the dessert to be of poor quality and were disappointed with the cafe de gourmet.
5 star experience. The staff is so professional and attentive, it was a real treat! Not to mention the food. We had the lunch menu for 30 euros pp. and a bottle of excellent wine (especially at that price point). Every course was delicious and well balanced. One can tell there are professionals at work here! Would definitely recommend!
Anita S — Google review
If you visit Châteauneuf-du-Pape, a stop at La Maisouneta is a must. It’s easily one of the best restaurants we’ve experienced in the Rhône Valley. The wine selection is excellent and reasonably priced. From the appetizers—scallop carpaccio and foie gras, both expertly prepared—to the mains, everything was exceptional. The pan-fried foie gras was a standout. The seafood risotto and pork steak were perfectly balanced, pairing beautifully with the 2016 Domaine de Beaurenard, which offered gamey, earthy notes while still retaining its fruitiness.
Stephanie N — Google review
Our group of six ladies very much enjoyed our meal at La Maisouneta today. We have been in France for one week and this was our best meal so far. The lamb was particularly delicious! And the service is friendly.
Tammy N — Google review
Amazing service, food and atmosphere. Best meal during our trip in the South of France. Must visit if you’re in CDP. Lamb shoulder is a standout, with the most amazing homemade wedges!
Darius N — Google review
I enjoyed my lunch here. We came without a reservation and were accommodated fast. Even though staff didn’t speak too much English they were helpful and patient. Great steak with morel mushroom and the best apricot tartlet ever. Highly recommended. Also they have a bigger list of wines than normal. Worth to check it out.

If you're in Chateauneuf du Pape for one night, make this the restaurant to visit; if you stay for two nights, then enjoy the fantastic food and wine list a second time - lucky you! We had the pleasure of dining here yesterday evening. We started with the tapas for 2; our mains were the Burger maisouneta & the filet de boeuf with a delicious Chateauneuf du Pape 2012 from Domaine du Grand Tinel (thanks for the recommendation). We were then talked into enjoying the Crème Brûlèe with a hint of lemon. You will not be disappointed.

During my recent adventure in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, I had the pleasure of visiting Maison Ogier, a gem among local wine producers. This winery is not just about exceptional wines; it’s an experience that captivates all your senses. Our guide, Jean, was a true highlight—his passion for winemaking shone through as he shared fascinating insights and sprinkled humor throughout our tasting journey. The warm and welcoming atmosphere created by the staff made us feel right at home.
Booked the bike tour - no better way of seeing the Chateauneuf-Du-Pape village and surrounding vineyards. Electric bikes made everything so easy, staff were really helpful in setting everything up and we were given free chilled water before and away. 5 stars.
Maximillian M — Google review
Great free tasting here. Tried 7 or so different wines which were all great. Didn’t feel any pressure to purchase but we did because we loved the wines so much.
Eve X — Google review
Fun and welcoming staff! We came at the same time as an American tourist group that had booked a wine tasting, and they insisted we joined which we of course did. When we tried to pay afterwards they insisted it was free! Extremely generous, especially since some wines were 100€+ per bottle! The wines were a bit on the high end price wice for us though, even though they were delicious!
Adam S — Google review
Great bike trip through Châteauneuf-du-Pape! Amazing way to see the town. Of course it finished with a lovely tour of ogier and a wine tasting. Don’t hesitate :)
Timothy L — Google review
Amazing tasting, they do organized ones but also ad hoc if you just walk in and want to try. Jean was incredible storyteller and told us so much about the wine but also the region and history! Also a big plus is the incredible surroundings of the maison, it’s a beautiful spot with a garden. Definitely recommend!
Katarzyna G — Google review
Highly recommend booking the wine tasting and bike tour with Ogier which was an amazing way to explore the Chateauneuf-du-pape region. The bikes were electric and very easy to use even in the summer heat.

We looked forward to a visit and drove some miles and found the door locked 16.45 6/9 2023. After a while a man opened the door and immidiatly went to his computer without a Word. After some time we wanted to speak with and he asked is to waitand then we wanted to taste 2 whitewines and he had only oneof them and brought a red wine instead! It was a disaster! We have tasted wine in France for 40 years, but never seen anythinglike this!.

Wine Museum Brotte is a must-visit for wine enthusiasts. The museum offers a well-curated and informative experience, providing a solid foundation for the rest of your wine country tour. Visitors can enjoy a variety of package options that include wine tastings, guided by knowledgeable staff members who are passionate about wine. The museum itself is interesting, with audio tours available at reasonable prices. Additionally, there's a shop with an extensive selection of wines and related products to purchase.
An amazing place where you can learn all about the winemaking of the region. An excellent museum that organically combines ancient exhibits and modernity. And of course, very friendly staff!! And the cherry on the cake is a tasting of excellent wines! A must visit, especially for those who are visiting chateauneuf du pape for the first time!

WORTH IT! Good way to spend about an hour learning about the history of CdP and the surrounding areas. Self guided audio tour you can do at your own pace. Tasted 3 or 4 wines afterward. Dominika was an excellent host. She answered all our questions, including what other crus we should visit. They ship to the US and will cover 10% of the tarrifs. My husband and I learned a lot and enjoyed this experience. Highly recommend.
Ann-Marie — Google review
We had a great experience learning more about wine and the region itself. I am always have been a big fan of CdP wines and going here to learn more about the wines was a dream come true. La Fiole was the first bottle of CdP I had and to see it made here…such a great experience. We learnt a lot and tasted great wines. Coraline was super nice and knowledgeable about the wines as well. Highly recommend checking this place out!

A hidden gem! We had a wonderful hour or so spent here learning more about the history of the region and wine produced here. It is a well laid out museum with interactive elements, and includes samples in your ticket fee, which we did not initially realise but were very much welcome! €8 includes 3 wine samples, €12 includes 5 and I think the max ticket price was €25 including 5 special vintage samples. Really good value and our sommelier Emily was extremely well informed and happy to chat with us! Her English was great too which we really appreciated as non French-speakers. Would recommend to anyone visiting the area.
Aimee G — Google review
We booked online. When we arrived we were told the tour was a self guided audio one. I’m deaf, so asked if there were boards to read instead. Initially I was told there wasn’t much to read as it was all audio. The girl on the desk was most apologetic. After about 10 minutes of my husband relaying the info to me, the girl from the front desk caught up with us and very kindly gave me a rough transcript of the tour info which she had just printed out for me. Having finished the tour we had a nice wine tasting session where we tasted five delicious wines and were chatted through the process by a very knowledgeable and friendly guy. There was no hard sell at all. We bought a bottle of wine and then when we got to the desk to pay they gave us another bottle for free to apologise for the audio guide situation. The staff couldn’t have been more obliging and friendly. It was a great little stop off. The tour and tasting last about 45 minutes and you can book online. I’d highly recommend it.
Clare R — Google review
Wonderful experience. The tour of the museum is very interesting and allows to have a deep insight into their wine production. Dominika guided us through wine tasting, with kindness and sympathy. Absolutely recommended!

Domaine de Beaurenard is a small and beautiful wine house located in the village, offering amazing white and red wines, including their Old Vines varieties. Visitors can enjoy a wonderful experience by exploring the cellars and tasting the exceptional products. The winery takes pride in sharing insights about their winemaking process, including using the moon's influence and displaying samples of different grapes.
We visited Domaine de Beaurenard on Friday of last week and the hospitality from Sylvie was impeccable. She was informative and welcoming and we could not have asked for anything more. While we were there we also got a chance to meet some of the family members that own the winery because they are always there which says a lot about the quality and care they put into their wine. I will forever recommend this wine and this winery as it is easy to put your word behind people who truly care! Thank you, Sylvie!

We were visiting Châteauneuf-du-Pape on the Veraison this year for one night, and had very limited time before wineries would close. I wanted to make sure I visit a place with traditions, character and soul. And Domaine de Beaurenard did not disappoint! From the moment we stepped in and were warmly greeted by Sylvie (who had helped to reserve wine tasting via email a few weeks before), we could see history, passion, culture of winemaking. Sylvie offered us to have a look around and into the aging room, and afterwards had a lovely chat during tasting. It was almost closing time on a big festival day, but she never looked tired or in a rush. Wines were beautiful (thank you for the special one!), I wish I could buy more to fly them home. History of the domaine is impressive and full of passion. The only thing I regret is that we could not get to the village early enough to join the guided tour. Thank you, Sylvie (and special thanks from the kids for the juice ;)). I have a place to visit when I am in Châteauneuf-du-Pape next time!

We had our best wine tasting experience of Chateauneuf du Pape at Domaine de Beaurenaed! Thanks to Elodie and Sylvie! A free but very immersive experience with physical grapes display of the 13 types of grape of the appellation, to the visit of the aging room, to the immersive tasting.

I had a truly wonderful experience at Domaine de Beaurenard. The estate itself is beautiful and full of history, and the wines are exceptional, showcasing the richness and elegance of Châteauneuf-du-Pape. A special thank you to Sylvie, who guided our tasting. She was incredibly knowledgeable, welcoming, and passionate about the wines and the domaine’s philosophy. She took the time to explain not just the wines, but also the history, terroir, and biodynamic approach, which made the experience both educational and memorable. I left with a deeper appreciation of the wines and the estate, and I would highly recommend a visit to anyone traveling in the region. Thank you to Sylvie and the Domaine de Beaurenard team for such a warm and unforgettable experience!

Beautiful Chateau of the 8th generation family run winery. You can do tours of the winery and tastings. Beaurenard has a very good quality selection of wines to try and buy from here. This is next to the museum which also gets busy, so try and go earlyish otherwise tastings may also be busy which is not as ideal.

We visited with a bigger group where we had a tour and tasting. Our tour had a passion that I’ve never experienced before and could easily describe the production process in a humorous and pedagogical way. Amazing wines and atmosphere. A must-visit if being in the area!
Markus A — Google review
The tour was nice and we got all the information we were looking for, as for the part of the degustation part I can say is very much for rich tourists ready to buy(since they sell only by shipping). Because we were served all.in think, I think 150ml in 3 glasses, for 80e per tour pp... I dont know, 3 slices of bread... felt a bit disrespectful

Returning to Maison Bouachon was an unforgettable experience. This was my third visit, yet it felt just as magical as the first. In October 2023, I had the privilege of filming here with Traveling with Denella — a show that went on to air across the U.S. on NBC and ABC. To walk back into this historic cellar two years later, now with memories of that broadcast reaching audiences around the world, was deeply special. As Vice President of Global Sales for Riverside Luxury Cruises, I often bring our guests to experience private wine tastings here, and every time it’s a highlight of their journey. Our group enjoyed an intimate two-hour tasting — a true immersion into the prestigious wines of Châteauneuf-du-Pape. The wines are exceptional, the atmosphere is steeped in tradition, and the staff makes every tasting feel both exclusive and welcoming. If you’re visiting Provence, don’t miss the chance to experience Maison Bouachon. Whether you’re a casual wine enthusiast or a seasoned collector, this is a place where history, craftsmanship, and passion pour into every glass. Santé 🍷 Michelle Rodríguez

French restaurant
Nestled within the charming confines of its namesake hotel, Le Comptoir de La Mère Germaine has quickly made a name for itself in the culinary world, earning accolades shortly after reopening. Under the expert guidance of two-star Belgian chef Christophe Hardiquest, this restaurant showcases an exquisite locavore menu that changes with the seasons.
DELICIOUS! Everything was fresh and delicious. Many menu choices, too. (Menu suggests wine for each dish too, which was nice given all the great wine here to choose from.) The artichoke bread to share was fantastic. Could easily be a meal. My husband and I could not finish it but definitely wanted to. The sea bass was one of the best dishes I've had after 2+ weeks in CdP. My husband had the lamb stew, and it was so flavorful and filling. We enjoyed great wine and a baba rhum for dessert. Prices are reasonable given the quality of the food. Sit outside if you can. The view is gorgeous. Excellent service, too. We'll definitely be back!

We loved this place, the setting, food and service. The appetizers were our favorites, had the shrimp and ceviche. Both had a mix of different textures and flavors. And very fresh, good choice since the weather was very hot. Also their seasonal sangria was tasty. Our server was very friendly and had great wine suggestions.

Excellent lunch at the second restaurant of the Mère Germaine in Chateauneuf. Prices for lunch about half the menu at the fancier place. Beautiful view, great and friendly service, food was excellent.

The starters and desserts were very good. The main (rotisserie) was average and definitely overpriced with 30€ per person. We felt slightly let down by the service. Not that they were not nice and trying but unfortunately need to improve on professionalism. We were asking for the menu, but we somehow misled to a la carte (Not a language barrier as my wife is a native French speaker). Also, the recommended wine was good, but not a perfect pairing.

Just by curiosity I checked online and with was full of availability to make reservation. I made mine and came back to the restaurant. When I attempt to open the door another guy came and block it !!!!! He asked me what I was trying to do, I said I made the reservation. He got very nervous and told me it was not possible that I had to leave. He finally let me In to check on the computer and saw the reservation, he talked to me very bad and said he was not going to give us a table. Very bad moments for us that we arrived with all the expectations. I didn’t make a reservation because we decided this morning to come as it is of season and we been going to lot of Places and not problem at all. Improve your service and be nice to people that come to try your food.

INCREDIBLE! The quality of the food for the price is incredible. My husband and I each enjoyed a 4 course dinner with the wine pairing for each course, which was 62 Euros pp. We certainly would have paid twice that in the US for this experience. We both had the lamb shoulder and it was delicious, especially with the CdP red wine. Starter was a fish pate and an asparagus dish with puff pastry and cream sauce. And the cheese course! Three cheeses we had never had before. Service was excellent. Very efficient. Waiter could speak English too, which was helpful. The restaurant is beautiful too. Casual but elegant at the same time. Highly recommend a reservation. We plan to return for lunch so we can enjoy the magnificent view mentioned by all the reviewers. If you only have a short time in CdP, I'd put this restaurant on your list.

We had the EUR40 dinner menu... it was worth it. I love their entrée of the day and the fish mains. Whilst the cheese dish was great, the pastry that came with it was not as good as the initial starters that were provided at the start of the meal.

Extraordinary luncheon that we will remember for a long time. Highly recommend you order a Kir Royale and enjoy the breathtaking view from the terrace while you peruse the menu. Lunch is a great value. The service and food are excellent. Be sure to reserve in advance. Parking is above the restaurant at the ruins of the chateau. Short, steep walk down the steps to lunch. Hands down our favorite luncheon in Provence.

The atmosphere is amazing, with a good view and a specious terrace. The staff are friendly and helpful. And of course, the food is absolutely great! With good local wine and that’s all you would expect.

The food is sooo good! Very high quality! The views and atmosphere were gorgeous. The highlight of our day. We had the menu of the day - foie with lavender salt, tomatoes with a goat cheese ice cream, veal, and lamb. Everything was perfect and service was quick and friendly. Reservations are highly recommended. We came without and were able to snag the last table. Dinner menu included appetizer, entree, and dessert for 34 euros.

Amazing restaurant. Friendly staff and superb food..and then the views! Consider the menu with the accompanying drinks. 4 glasses of wine to accompany your 4 dishes. Bottled water and coffee included. We visited their cave downstairs and sampled more wine and took a few bottles home.

Restaurant
Terrae - Truffe & Vin offers a unique experience with its Bar and Restaurant, providing a space for sharing and rediscovering the flavors of truffles and wine. The concept is simple yet elegant, focusing on world-renowned wines paired with the "black gold" to ensure a delightful dining and drinking experience. Visitors have praised the warm welcome and friendly team, as well as the pleasant and inviting ambiance.
SO FRIENDLY! We speak very little French but the woman working here- (she was attending to all the tables!)- was very kind and helpful. The menu is limited but that doesn't matter because all the food is amazing and fresh. My husband said the salmon tartare was the best thing he has eaten in France! We also had the egg, broccoli cheese dish with truffle and it was so good. Very unique. You eat it on a crostini after it all melts together. We aren't necessarily big truffle people but wanted to try some truffles on our selections given this place specializes in truffles. We are glad we did because they are light handed with adding the truffles and the flavor was amazing. We also shared the fish soup, with shrimp, mussels, fish, in a tomato based broth. We asked our server to select a white CdP and then a red one. Both were wonderful. Small place but excellent service. Check it out and try some different types of truffles! They will make you feel very welcome.
Ann-Marie — Google review
We came here for lunch and ordered the egg with truffle to start off with, then for mains we had the risotto and fish (both with truffle). They recommended a very good local wine which we enjoyed. Although price was a bit high (as it should with truffle), service and experience were very good.

My wife and I spent several days in Châteauneuf-du-Pape to tour our favorite wine region. The wine options are plentiful of course but the food options can be somewhat limited where several restaurants focus on tapas dining. While visiting Les Caves Du Chateau Des Fines Domaines Mousset for a wine tasting, Natalie recommended Truffe and Vin for dinner. Little did we know that we were in for a culinary surprise. Upon arriving for our reservation, we were greeted with a warm welcome and smile. Embarrassingly, our French was poor; but the staff was very kind and patient, able to speak English quite well. The restaurant is new but I cannot state this enough - Truffe and Vin is an absolute must if you are visiting Châteauneuf-du-Pape. It is just 0.4 miles from the center of the town; a nine minute walk. The food preparation and presentation is second to none in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. The wine selection is outstanding as well. Here you are able to enjoy great wine, fantastically prepared food and truffle to accent every dish if you desire. Those that fancy great wine, tend to seek food that pairs well and enhances the the overall experience. Adding truffle to this occasion is sheer gastronomic heaven. Truffe and Vin delivers on this - this is their specialty - delivering a dining delight. The staff and service is the best we experienced while in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. I could go on about everything we ate and gush over how incredible each dish was but that would take some time. I do have to say that the dessert was something right out of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory - everything was edible. So; for those touring Châteauneuf-du-Pape and residents of the area as well, I highly encourage you to take the time to visit Truffe and Vin - you will not be disappointed.

Super super kind and friendly staff. Very attentive and engaging. The food was good but too gimmicky for our liking. There was only one more table occupied so it was not the mmost lively of places when we were there.
Chantal H — Google review
I am very embarrassed about this restaurant. I almost feel that they decide whether you will be served quality truffles or some fake or garbage ones based on the language used. Ignoring the lack of truffle flavor, the appetizers were ok but nothing special. But when the main course was brought out, I thought either it was a joke or I was a dog. The food looked like it was for a dog and even tasted like it.
Adél K — Google review
What a gem! Sometimes it's not easy to find something for the American pallet in S France, this was outstanding. Easy parking and avoided the chaos at the top of the hill. We were greeted in friendly English, and had an outstanding lunch including an education and chance to try real truffles on the food. Delicious, quiet, and friendly- we'll be back. Don't miss it.
Martin H — Google review
We had a great evening. Great food, excellent wine and Philippe the owner is a really interesting, knowledgeable guy. He's a truffle specialist and we had a mixture of summer and winter truffles on every dish. The wines we had were the best in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, so much so that the next day I went to 1 of the vinyards that Philippe buys from, 1 mile down the road. I bought as much wine as I could fit in my car. Thank you Philippe, chef and staff This is a must go to restaurant!
Simon C — Google review
I don't get why they have good reviews. The chef is below average on French cuisine, not to mention those fake Asian dishes they put on the menu. They suggest to put truffles on all dishes, but majority were meaningless. Tourist trap.

Nestled in the heart of a charming village, La Mule du Pape is a delightful restaurant that draws inspiration from the legendary mule that once transported wine for the popes during their time in Avignon. The ambiance is beautifully decorated, creating an inviting atmosphere where both locals and tourists mingle. The menu features an array of creative dishes crafted from fresh, high-quality regional ingredients, ensuring a memorable dining experience.

Love the service here. Especially trom Mae. They are friendly and helpful. The beef taatare was fantastic. 300g butcher's cut was enough for 2. The salads were hearty and filling. Kids meal is a jumbo cod fillet.

The food was fine, but I was really disappointed with the wine service. If a wine is recommended, I would expect at least a small tasting before being charged €18 for just 1.25 dcl of a wine I didn’t enjoy at all. I had specifically asked for a mineral wine, but what I received tasted more like a basic house wine.

Lovely place in the town center for decent honest food (nothing amazing but truly fair prices). In high season they could do with another member of staff but everyone did the best to make you feel comfy. Happy to have a bite here again. For parents, no problem to being a child. Very accommodating and giving milk for a bottle, easy for larger groups (8)

We called in for a coffee in the sunshine (and wind) and ended up staying for a lovely long lunch and a couple of glasses of very pleasant white wine. We chose the Menu du Jour and we were not disappointed - it was also great value for money. The staff were brilliant. They were so accommodating and friendly towards us and everyone else. The atmosphere in the restaurant was great - such a buzz and a mixture of tourists and locals. We were so glad we called in and can highly recommend you do too!

Nice restaurant in the middle of Chataeuneuf-du-Pape to stop by in your winery tours. The Ravioli was really good. We didn’t have wine because we were going around the area wine tasting. The selections were not too expensive and the staff were proficient in English. Added a photo with the menu and prices for the food.

Chocolaterie Castelain offers a unique experience with its wine and chocolate pairing, where visitors can explore different combinations of white and red wines with various chocolates. Despite being more of a chocolate shop than a museum, the staff is described as pleasant and accommodating. The place caters to both adults and children, offering wine tasting for the former and chocolate decorating for the latter.
They welcome you with their signature chocolate which is absolutely delicious. The shop is spacious with a huge variety of chocolates and other confections. They provided a nice gift wrap. Definitely come here if u love chocolates or wish to pick up a gift

TASTING of 5 chocolates was good but would have been better if there was more (some) explanation of the chocolate we were eating. We were welcomed at first and offered a chocolate, but then the woman disappeared. She was very nice but we had to wait for her to return and ask if we could do a more detailed tasting. We had thought there was a self guided tour based on the website but that wasn't an option. We chose one chocolate, and 4 others were selected for us. We ate it with cafe, which was nice. Large selection of chocolate gifts. Overall, I recommend it if you're a chocolate lover. It was just a different experience than what I expected.
Ann-Marie — Google review
We booked the wine and chocolate pairing (12€ per person ), the staff was nice, welcoming and informative. We explored the white wine and red wine pairing with different chocolate, the tasting was special, but the sweet wine with chocolate was a little bit normal for us. The day when we were there, it seems a bit different from I expected, not a museum, more like a chocolate shop.
Sophia W — Google review
Honestly not impressed. First, I see a lot of Sorbitol used. It is a sugar alcohol compound and as such, is often used as an artificial sweetener. Second, everything is extremely expensive here. Way overpriced.
Igor — Google review
The woman working here was rude. I watched as she let a woman who came in after me try more than once piece of chocolate. When I innocently asked to try one more piece (with chocolate in my hand I was about to buy), the woman working the desk told me I already had my piece. My friend was purchasing 50 euros worth of chocolate and I had planned to buy some, too. It was a very strange double standard - giving one group multiple samples right in front of us and then being rude when we asked to try one more piece. It felt very off and she was needlessly cold.

Fun selection of wine and chocolate. The staff was very friendly and helpful even though I speak no french and they spoke a little English.

The wine/chocolate tasting is cheap, but I expected a little more. We just had 2 wines and 3 chocolates. There's a large diversity of chocolates and wines, but beware: if you are traveling during the summer, remember not to leave the chocolates inside the car, or else they will turn into milk shake!

Nestled in the heart of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Clos du Mont-Olivet is a gem among the region's esteemed wineries. With a rich history dating back to ancient times, this estate has witnessed significant events, including the famous Battle of Arausio in 105 BC. Today, it stands as a testament to modern winemaking excellence, with an impressive array of wines that reflect both tradition and innovation.
This tasting was certainly a highlight of our trip to the region. We were recommended to stop by, and popped in last minute. We learned so much, and Chloe, our guide, was so knowledgeable and kind, it felt more like a tasting with an extremely well informed friend. Great wines. Would not miss.

We visited this lovely winery cellar door tucked away down a street in Chateauneuf de Pape after finding a rare parking spot! Don't worry - go straight there as there is a parking area at the cellar door. The lady who hosted us was extremely knowledgeable and prepared to let us sample as many wines as we wanted - there were about 15 but we sampled 5 knowing there was more tastings to come. Beautiful wine - had to buy a bottle to take home.

We did many tastings in the area and this one at their shop in town was the worst by miles. It was rushed, awkward and the guy that served us had no interested in telling anything about their wines, vineyards or history. He just poured a few tiny glasses and stared. Not recommended at all!

Tasting today was informative and fantastic value. Thank you. We tried a rose, 2 whites of which one was a limited edition at euro55 a bottle but we preferred the lower price blend. The 2 red reds, one a traditional pape and a modern lighter c n pape which was my favourite of the five. For the very informative tasting we paid Euro 4 per person. We didn’t do the museum or view the bottling line because we had cycled and needed a sit down! It was Euro 8 for tasting and museum. One other cave we visited wanted euro25 for 5 tastes!

(Translated by Google) I received a very warm welcome at Maison Brotte, but it was Jean-Olivier's guidance that really stood out from my visit. He provided me with great insight, never forcing me, and took the time to understand what I was looking for. His approach was simple, precise, and passionate—you can tell he has a deep understanding of the region's wines and enjoys sharing them. Thanks to him, I left with bottles that perfectly suited my tastes, and above all, with the feeling of having learned something. A wonderful discovery, on every level.

Château Fortia Sarl has a rich history dating back to the aftermath of World War I when Baron Le Roy, a fighter pilot, returned to find his wife's family winery facing wine provenance issues. This led him to work on a proposal for a French wine appellation system that was eventually adopted into law in 1936. Visitors can explore the village and nearby attractions such as Domaine Bois de Boursan and Chocolaterie Castelain.
Tatiana provided a great tour and tasting. We tasted some straight out of the drum! This winery has a very unique way of storing their wines. They stack almost 9,000 wines in bays in the lowest level of the cave. The best part is 2 of their wines can be bought in the US! The Reserve and Secrets can only be bought here so those are coming home! I look forward to coming back again!

SUPERB! There are so many wineries in CdP, where do you start?! Start here! You will be well equipped for other tastings (anywhere you go), and if you can only do one, then you will have chosen well. The scenery is enchanting, both the castle and the vineyards. Eva was an excellent guide. She was not only very knowledgeable, she was also genuine and welcomed questions. She also had great stories that made the experience even more special. My husband and I did the 2 hour tasting where you learn not only about the wine but also how to describe what you are seeing, smelling and tasting. The tour of the cellar was interesting too. Although cellars have much in common, they're still unique with their own history and winemaker methods. It was, without a doubt, one of the best experiences we've had at any wine tasting. The time flew by. 20 Euros pp well spent. Be sure to confirm a reservation if you make one too.

What a beautiful and wonderful experience! The tour was informative and comprehensive. The wines we tasted were outstanding. We purchased some wine to go.

Beautiful vineyard and chateau with a very warm welcome. We pre-booked a tour of the cellars and a tasting which was fantastic. Tattiana was a patient, knowledgeable and passionate guide who indulged all of our questions, even the silly ones! The self-guided walk around the grounds and vines is also lovely. Oh yes - the wine is also very special. We loved the Edmée le Roy Blanc and the 2018 Cuvee du Baron CDP.

Fantastic experience, mainly due to Ewa, our host for the wine tasting. She was so sweet and informative. A very lovely winery with free tasting. Why don't they do that in the States.

An absolutely wonderful experience! Besides the opportunity to taste some truly amazing Chateauneuf di Pape wines, we had a very informative visit with one of the owners. It was fascinating to hear the insider’s view on making the wines and the technical aspects of working with the local terroir and grapes. he was patient with our nerdy questions, and even helped look up data for us to research! As well, an amazing hike is available through the estate vineyards, leaving right from in front of the cellar. The path was clearly marked and well kept, and the informational signs along the way were interesting to read. A really fun and gorgeous hike. Overall, an unmissable experience in Chateauneuf du Pape. Highly recommended visit and wines. We couldn’t decide which we like most… so we just bought all three reds so we didn’t have to decide!

Very much enjoyed the wine tasting and winery tour with our wonderful hostess (with excellent English and experience in Australian wineries too). The Le Baron 2018 was the best Chateauneuf d’Pape red wine I have had in the region.

Came for a wine tour arranged at the last minute. Tatania took us round and gave us an excellent explanation of the wine making experience. The wine tasting was made more enjoyable by her knowledge and infectious enthusiasm. We left with many happy memories and most importantly, how to gurgle and aerate the wine in our mouths!

Château La Nerthe is a historic winery in Chateauneuf-du-Pape, with roots dating back to 1570 and a winery established in 1736. Under new ownership in 1986, the estate saw significant improvements in quality and expanded its vineyard holdings to become one of the largest in the region, with 550 acres organically farmed since 1998.
Had a super informative and delicious tasting in English with Alexi! The wines were superb and we went home with a few bottles each. We especially loved that they have more affordable bottles (18e) as well as a more expensive reserve line- all were super good quality and delicious.

Did a quick wine tasting here. We didn't have an appointment so we didnt get the tour, they just gave us a quick tasting in a room near the reception. The wines were lovely, and the lady gave a decent description in history. All in all it was about 10-15 minutes including time when we had our own conversation during the tasting. The space is gorgeous and has a lovely view of the region.

We had a nice tour starting from the Château and the fields; it’s incredibly beautiful when the morning light hits. The fermenting room and aging room also keep traces of history. The wines are beautiful, and the tasting experience is delicate.

Overall not impressed with wine or experience, we waited 45 mins. And not worth the wait. The lady locked the door during other tasting and no one gave us any update on how much longer as others were waiting outside, when the door was opened no one said anything, when we went in it was short and unwelcoming. We came from Chateau de la Gardine and it was spectacular, tour and wine!
Sarah Z — Google review
The winery is beautiful, but the wines were nothing special. Coming from a country where the wine is excellent, none of them particularly impressed me. I’m not a professional, just a casual wine lover, but still, none of the wines stood out. We didn’t have a reserved tour, we just came for a quick tasting at the small bar by the reception, and in about 10 minutes we tried four wines. It wasn’t anything spectacular, even though the place is very popular. On the other hand, it was lovely to take photos in front of the winery, as the entrance is truly stunning.

Alexis was a very knowledgeable, warm and smiley host during our impromptu visit to Chateau La Nerthe. He shared many good wine vintages with us, both red and white, and also taught us a thing or two. Chateau La Nerthe itself was a majestic Provençal winery with a beautiful view

Gorgeous place. An absolute must visit in Châteauneuf-du-Pape if what you want is not just wine tasting, but immerse into the history, passion, spirit and traditions of the winemaking in the region. You will want to spend hours here, wandering around the estate, the cellars. We visited on the Veraison day (and you guys were right - good luck with parking in the village :-D) and were worrying, because we had the guided tour appointment and were running late due to heavy traffic. But as we rushed in, we realized we should not. This is Province, so chill! The tour was amazing - book the one with premium tasting in the 16-century cellar, you will not regret it. Alexis is the best tour guide you can get, so lucky you if you join him! Passionate, full of knowledge and humor, and will make your day, believe me. Wines are absolutely beautiful and very reasonably priced (the ones open for sale I mean ;)).

Nestled just a stone's throw from the vineyards, "A 2 pas des vignes, Hébergements & Spa" offers an enchanting retreat for those looking to explore the charming region of Chateauneuf-du-Pape. Guests rave about the stunning accommodations that blend modern elegance with local charm, featuring tasteful decor inspired by wine culture. The property boasts immaculate cleanliness and breathtaking views, making it a perfect spot to unwind after a day of exploration.
Outstanding service, location and accommodation. Nicolas and Emile maintain beautiful accommodations that are not only clean and tastefully decorated, the gardens and surrounding areas are beautifully landscaped and add to the peaceful setting. Nicolas provided excellent service and recommendations on where to taste wine and where to dine. I would highly recommend a visit to Châteauneuf du Pape and a stay at at A 2 pas des vignes.

Very nice place and good location. Host very nice until we checked out. Tried to charge 65 euro for minor cleaning up some crumbs on sofa. We accidentally took an old towel when we left as it was identical to ours and he spammed us with aggressive and angry demands to return it so we posted it back. Host kept sending really angry messages for weeks later.
Plastichead 1 — Google review
Great location and amenities only bettered by the exceptional hospitality from Nicolas. The accommodation is all you could need at the price point offered, with effective air conditioning, a well equipped kitchen and plenty of space. The garden is beautiful. The location is just 10 minutes walk from the village which has a good range of shops, restaurants and (many) winery outlets offering tastings without the need to drive. Nicolas was an excellent and attentive owner. He allowed us our space (note, the accommodation is a stand alone house in its own garden), but whenever we needed anything he was able to offer suggestions and options - responding promptly and even managing to arrange last minute tours and tastings as required by us. Nicolas has developed numerous connections and relationships with businesses in the village and its surrounds. That not only got us into places at short notice but also discounts on tastings in some places, and more importantly service ‘like a local’ by businesses in the village due to them knowing Nicolas. Nicolas’ passion for the area and its produce shone through, he helped us understand: the history of the village, its prominent ruined castle and how wine making really got going; the wine varieties and how they were blended to make Chateauneuf-Du-Pape wine; and also the different terroir present in the area and the effect they had. This all made exploring the village, dining, and wine tasting (and buying), an even more enjoyable event than it would have been for us as amateur wine lovers!

We had a desire to see and experience the home of Chateauneuf du pape wines and so were keen to spend some time in the town itself. A 2 Pas Des Vignes offers the perfect balance of a modern, well appointed property, but really close to the old town centre. You will find everything you need at the properties.. off street parking, air conditioning, cooking and chilling facilities, relaxing space, dining space and in our case (no12), two bedrooms. The property also has a set of patio doors that lead out to a charming garden with outside seating. The key differentiator here for these properties is the host, Nicolas. I won’t spoil the surprises, it briefly Nicolas’ family dates back hundreds of years in the area and Nicolas has built up a strong set of relationships with businesses across the town. He will always be on hand to help you whether you are looking to understand more about the area, receive some recommendations for wine cellar visits, or helping you arrange a booking with some of the local restaurants. If you are in the area, I strongly recommend setting down for a few days to drink in the atmosphere of the town and relaxing at A 2 Pas Des Vignes.

This is a beautiful place and so comfortable for two couples! We spent four nights, ate most of our meals at home, and also washed our laundry! Nicolas was very attentive. He provided excellent recommendations for lunch and winery/vineyard visits. He even helped us find our friend when he got lost walking! I most highly recommend this Airbnb!

Nicolas was the best! He took care of everything during our stay from booking restaurants for every meal to booking visits to wineyards for tastings, including a last minute one. He even came by with his car to guide us at one point when we didn't find our way! Really a 5 star service! :)

Haute French restaurant
Hotel
Nestled in the heart of Chateauneuf-du-Pape, Restaurant La Mère Germaine is a culinary gem that beautifully marries history with modern sophistication. This fine-dining establishment, led by the talented Chef Christophe Hardiquest, offers an exquisite menu that showcases the best of Provence's flavors. The restaurant boasts two charming terraces where guests can savor their meals while soaking in breathtaking views of the Rhône Valley and distant Alpilles mountains.
Increíble experience. Food view service plus the staff love their work. If you want to go big in Provenance. This is worth it. So different from overly serious US restaurants. This was good and fun.

WORTH IT! Yes, it is pricey but it is worth it-- the view, the dining area, the attentive servers, and most importantly, the food. My husband and I had the 4 course lunch, which is actually 6 courses with 2 amuses. We also had champagne as an aperitif and a bottle of CdP, of course. We both left satisfied with no complaints. In fact, we have already booked another lunch before we leave CdP. The experience was unique and definitely memorable. We do not frequent Michelin star restaurants but thought this one was outstanding. Each course was delicious and explained to us in detail. The bread was the best we've had in France too. We had the veal and sea bass as the main course, and both were terrific-- Small portions so you can enjoy each course/movement. Parfait! The servers spoke both French and enough English that nothing got lost in translation. If you want to treat yourself, come dine here and enjoy every minute.

Food is very good. Wine list is extensive but pretty overpriced. Sommelier eager to help but lacked knowledge of the list, beyond a few local choices. Wine pricing and quality of service are critical for a wine region restaurant. Also, the somm served wine in a very incorrect glass.

We recently enjoyed Easter dinner at the restaurant. The service, food and surroundings we're spectacular. The progression of the courses was excellent and thoughtful. Overall an amazing experience at the restaurant. A must do in Chateuaneuf de Pape Thanks.

Very stylish room, beautiful modern design. The balcony has an amazing view. No elevator in the building, and the front desk only staff till 7 PM. Have a spa and sensory shower in the basement, but the steam room is not working. Perfectly located in the middle of the town. They don’t have any plates or silverware in the room.

The restaurant was the highlight of our trip. We had the tasting menu, they even had a vegetarian option. They have dog friendly rooms, finished to a high standard. The restaurant was dog friendly too. We sat outside. The setting has a nice atmosphere.

passing by this well named wine village we stayed a night in the freshly renovated but 100 years old Hotel/ Restaurant La Mère Germaine. Welcomed and hosted by all elegant and amazingly friendly staff no question or wish was left unattended. The design of the rooms and the common areas is modern but harmonic with the history and the atmosphere of the house. The high quality and well thought details are what let me enjoy the place the most. Breakfast was served to our table (what is in my opinion the only acceptable way a breakfast should be offered) at the terrace with the view on the streets and square of this little village. The food had a excellent quality and the whole family enjoyed. This might become a regular stop on our way from south to north.

Heaven is being served daily here. Get a reservation, relax, enjoy and drift off into another place of sensory experiences that will make you feel like you have taken a vacation from the world. For one evening you will feel treated like royalty. The flavors will dance in your mouth and each course will be an absolute pleasure. Wish I could eat here every day of the rest of my life. That good. Having eaten at many of the finest restaurants in the world, I can say that this is one of the best ever. We had a starter that was incredible, I copied them below Beetroot Berlingot, red and yellow Chioggia stuffed with green asparagus and pine nuts. Asparagus tips rolled in olive oil and orange mint. Iodized trout egg Mediterranean Shellfish and Crustaceans. Airy hummus refreshed with sake and citrus fruits These were both excellent. I hate beets and I loved the beetroot. The shellfish was my dish and I was supremely happy. Wine pairings were perfect. Followed by these for mains Beef cheek with red wine from our vines Melting vegetable garden and grilled eggplant, marjoram, Châteauneuf-du-Pape sauce and Lamb Saddle and a piece of shoulder with some hummus and cauliflower. (I'm missing some description as I could not find a complete menu) The lamb saddle was like butter, so the crunchy vegetables were a great combination. The beef cheek I regret not having, my wife literally could not stop smiling. Thank god she let me try some. Smooth, tasty and decadent. We had a palate cleanser that was superb -not pictured, but no recollection what magic I ate. Then for dessert, Journey between Provence and the Islands, around the country’s citrus fruits and our emblematic herbs The view was amazing. The staff was gracious. Sommelier was perfect in making a pairing even though we ordered one item off the tasting menu for our 4 course meal. Get to this place as soon as possible and enjoy a Slice of Heaven!

Le Pistou is a charming restaurant highly regarded by both locals and tourists. It offers an array of authentic Provencal dishes bursting with rich flavors. The cheese plate starter and the traditional bouillabaisse are particularly recommended. Guests have praised the well-presented and delicious three-course dinner, as well as the friendly and helpful staff who even provided assistance with transportation.

The restaurant was more average... The pasta was OK, they promised truffle, but it did not taste like truffles at all. Also the sauce was to liquid, more like a soup. The meat was good. One piece was a little bit raw inside, and the other piece was cooked correctly, which was surprising... since we ordered both to be medium-rare/rare, not bloody... but the meat was tasty.
Martin S — Google review
I had the entrecôte with pepper sauce, medium rare. It was an over cooked piece of tough old beef. My partner had the tartare and really enjoyed it but my meal was very average for the price, I guess you get what you pay for- it’s not expensive and it’s not great. For what it’s worth the service was good. I wouldn’t recommend if you want something good.

We spent an hour with Pierre in the shop tasting and chatting. We learnt a lot about the area, the wine production, the 13 grapes, and the AMAZING wine. Pierre was a fabulous host, very knowledgeable, great English, and very entertaining. We bought wine to bring home for Xmas, but felt no pressure, which made it a lovely experience. Thank you Pierre for educating us and being a great guy 🧡

After visiting the Papal Palace in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, the goal was clear – to bring home some wine. By chance, we stumbled upon this charming little shop, where we were warmly welcomed and treated to a small tasting of their products. If only I had a bigger cooler in the car, I would have bought more – their wine is fantastic!

We had a very pleasant tasting (free) of four different wines from this family-run winery. The young woman serving us kindly answered our questions in English, since our French was limited. Of course, we bought a couple of bottles to take home!

Fantastic wines from a long history of winemakers. Nadine was extremely knowledgeable about the wines, the wine making process, and even the history of the area! Highly recommend!

We went in here, the woman in the store doesn't even look up from her phone until we ask if it's open and if we can do a wine tasting? She answers yes otherwise I would not leave the door open and that we can try if we are going to buy something?! Her whole body and her attitude towards us was so cold and rude, and she never stopped looking at her phone. We turned around and walked out of there. To that woman, you better work on your attitude and be more nice. We are friendly people and I totally understand if we were rude to you, but we were smiling and very friendly! To the owner of this place, I would for sure fire this woman because she is making you lose good customers with her super offensive and rude attitude! Go down further down the street and stop by Famille Gonnet, there worked the most helpful, kind, fun and sweet man that gave us the best wine tasting!

I initially thought, when walking in and meeting the lady who served the tastings, that this lady looks very unfriendly, but we ended up talking and found her extremely entertaining. Very sardonic and witty. Ended up buying wine there just because of how fun she made the experience. If you get easily offended, be warned.

Every day, there are approximately 6-10 bottles available for free tasting of the scarce white and red Chateauneuf at Domaine de la Solitude. Unlike many other places in town, you have the option to purchase these bottles at winery prices. This establishment has been responsible for some remarkable findings, such as the initial vintage of Domaine St. Prefert which captivated visitors.
This visit was just amazing. The vineyard is located in the most beautiful part of Châteauneauf-du-Pape. You must pre book your visit. We had the most informative tasting. Learned so much about the appellation. The wines are great. A bit more restrained than the other CNDP we had, but so elegant. Their Cotes de Rhône were great too. The Cornelia Constanza was AMAZING. We will be buying this wine in London for sure.

Domaine du Pegau winery utilizes a traditional method of wine-making whereby grapes are hand-harvested and fermented without being de-stemmed. This process, combined with the estate's centuries-old vines and smaller yields, allows them to carefully select the best grapes resulting in highly sought-after, top-quality wines.
I recently visited Pegau for a wine tasting experience, and it was truly unforgettable. Our guide was exceptionally knowledgeable, not only about the wines of Châteauneuf-du-Pape but about wine in general. She was incredibly sweet, providing us with a wealth of local travel tips that enhanced our entire trip. The atmosphere at the winery is warm and inviting, making us feel right at home. We were also charmed by their adorable and friendly dog, who added to the delightful experience. The wines themselves were extraordinary. Their reds are outstanding, as expected, but what truly surprised us was their Rosé, which changed our perception of this type of wine entirely. Overall, our visit to this charming domaine was nothing short of amazing. I highly recommend it to anyone looking to explore the wines of this region.
Grace C — Google review
Great tour and tasting at Pegau! We felt the wine was not our personal favorite compared to some other wineries around CdP, but if you like more acidic wines you will love it. The tour and tasting need to be booked in advance and only cost €10. Would definitely recommend.

Excellent tour. It's great that even as a famous winery, they still provide a very welcoming experience. The guide, who was one of the winemakers, was really great. The price was very low.

The tour is 5 stars. Great to understand the history, wine making, cellar and vineyard of Pegau. The tour guide has done a great work. One note to the owner: please don’t let the young kids join the tour. It was terrible to have 3 kids in the cellar or the tasting room. It was so noisy. And the mother was even more noisy than the kids when she tried to get attention from the kids.

(Translated by Google) The tour, led by the young blonde woman (great-granddaughter), was decent and friendly. But a huge disappointment came during the tasting: there were 13 of us (booked and confirmed by phone), and then she told us she only had 11 glasses because it was supposed to be for 10 people maximum... without ever having specified this beforehand. As a result, two people had to share a glass, even though we paid full price for 13 (€195). Furthermore, the tasting was limited to only four classic wines, without offering the more prestigious vintages, which is very poor for a price of €15 per person. For a winery with good but already expensive wines, this lack of generosity and transparency leaves an extremely stingy impression. Especially since we still ended up buying €300 worth of wine afterward... It's a shame, because it leaves a stingy impression and spoils an experience that could have been truly enjoyable.

Nestled in the heart of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Château Mont-Redon stands out as a remarkable winery with a rich history and impressive scale. Spanning over 200 acres, it is the largest single-estate vineyard in the region, boasting vines that trace back to Roman times. The estate prides itself on its meticulous hand-harvesting process, complemented by cutting-edge sorting technology to ensure each bottle reflects exceptional quality and flavor.
We stopped by Mont-Redon on our way through on our honeymoon biking tour and had a lovely tasting with a young man who lived nearby (sorry I can’t remember his name). He answered our questions diligently and discussed their wine making process. He was very friendly and obviously enjoyed his work. The highlight for us was seeing their impressive cellar where wines have been aging for decades. Any wine collector would be very jealous of this impressive collection! The wine itself of course was top notch, as you would expect of CDP.

What a fabulous experience we had today with Richard (and Hamish the dog) !!! We really wanted to do vineyard tour however due to our travel was not able to - so instead opted for wine tasting. The explanation of the appellation and history around CnP and region was outstanding and tasting did not disappoint! The history surrounding the 2 families (see the coat of arms) and how they still come together for picking and creating these amazing wines simply added to the overall experience. The wines are delightful and tantalising to the palate and are reflective of the fine wines in this region. A full flight of tasting is available for the true wine explorer. Enjoy!!

At the time of this review this place has 3.4 stars. That blows my mind. The lunch we had here was excellent. The octopus over rice pilaf was melt in your mouth and perfectly seasoned. The monkfish medallions over risotto were great. And the porch with fans and water mist were great on a crazy hot day. Service was on point in all facets.

Excellent food, great flavors, beautiful space, great price (bang for your buck). The service was pleasant. Not for those used to quick service and being rushed out the door. This is a place where the servers leave you be in peace and take in the ambiance (a central square in chateauneuf-des-papes). Also, more affordable than most other restaurants in the town.

A very authentic place for relaxation and quiet rest. Unfortunately, we were passing through and only one day, so we did not have time to fully enjoy all the possibilities of the hotel. But it is absolutely certain that the staff is professional and caring, the breakfasts are very tasty, the room is very authentic, and the sunrises are simply incredible. And of course the wine, for which we stopped at this wonderful place, is absolutely superb!!! Thank you very much))

IDEAL LOCATION for an outdoor lunch or dinner. The view is stunning. We had lunch at the restaurant. (We did not stay at the hotel.) The food was excellent. It was a set menu (formulae) but there were a number of nice selections to choose from. I had the pasta with seafood and lamb shoulder and my husband had the egg dish and the fish. There was not much seafood in the pasta dish but the pasta was cooked well. The egg dish was dry but the lamb and fish were outstanding. Cake dessert was okay. The pours on the champagne and wine seemed light to us. May be better to order a bottle. Service was good but staff had earpieces to communicate with each other and seemed slightly distracted when taking our orders. Nevertheless, I recommend visiting here.

Tucked in the hills of Chateauneuf du Pape, this beautiful hotel was a dreamy place to land for a few days on our honeymoon. The room, after climbing into one of the turrets, was clean and comfortable with a beautiful view, and the staff was kind and excited to celebrate with us. Aurelian, one of the front desk staff, was especially kind. On the night of our arrival, he had anticipated we'd had a long travel day and had booked a table at the Restaurant Fines Roches, which had been otherwise completely booked. Note to readers, don't miss this restaurant if you are staying there - the blind menu was incredible. Thank you for helping make our honeymoon unforgetable!

The exterior of this place is truly stunning, like a beautiful castle, and it really impressed us. The restaurant was also amazing, and we especially appreciated the sommelier's excellent guidance with the wine. However, the interior felt like any other hotel, with none of the charm or character suggested by the outside. Our room wasn't ready at the stated 3 PM check-in time, and it was never cleaned during our stay. We had to ask for fresh towels and more toilet paper, which was quite inconvenient. Also, be aware that there's no proper shower, just a bathtub with a showerhead that's positioned at a somewhat awkward angle on the wall. Hence, we cannot give more than 3 stars.
Henrik B — Google review
We were only in the restaurant, not in the hotel. The location is impressive, and the restaurant just worthy because of the place. The food was very tasty and its presentation really thought full. I’ve given a 3 only because I has been very disappointed with the wine selection. When you pay 45 Eur for a local wine from Côtes du Rhône you expect a quality that at least you can not find in a supermarket. This has been the recommendation of the sommelier, since my first choice was not available any more. The wine menu could be more updated, I think.

Fantastic environment if you like to wake up in the cloud with beautiful vineyards and a castle along with a small pool. For the dinner, of course it's expensive with high quality of gourmet but the service need to be improved.

When I checked in, the hotel gave me a paper stating that smoking is not allowed in the restaurant. However, during the meal, a guest next to us smoked for two hours and no one stopped them. When I brought it up at check-out, the staff told me that smoking is actually allowed, which was very surprising. The bathroom in room number 5 has a drainage problem: the water doesn’t drain at all.

Logis Hôtel la Sommellerie is a charming 17th-century stone house nestled in the heart of Chateauneuf-du-Pape's vineyards. The Provençal-style rooms offer a traditional ambiance, and guests can enjoy the scenic surroundings by the river. The hotel features an attached winery, a seasonal outdoor pool, and bicycles for rent. With attentive owners offering valuable local insights, it's an ideal base for exploring the area's wine culture.
We had a wonderful stay at Hotel La Sommellerie. We booked it at the last minute hoping for a quaint hotel near Chateauneuf du Pape and we weren’t disappointed. The room was excellent with a super comfy mattress, air conditioning and a good shower. The owners, Camille and Silvio made us feel at home, in particular making an effort with our eight month old baby. It felt like we were staying at a home rather than a hotel and the garden area is as relaxing as it looks. Lastly, the food we had at dinner was some of the best we have had in France, with the beouf being a highlight. We would definitely come back and stay in the future.

The best part of our stay was the hosts and owners, Silvie and Camille. They were so gracious and helpful and just made you feel so comfortable. They were extremely helpful in all respects. Besides the great owners, it is a lovely property, beautifully landscaped right next to a large vineyard. Everyone enjoyed sitting outside by the pool next to the flowers. The restaurant was also excellent. Last point is that the location is very central and convenient for day trips all over Provence. Between the hotel, the grounds, the location and the owners, this is a 5-star experience.

Very welcoming little hotel. The rooms are very simple but functional and have comfortable beds. But the restaurant is absolutely amazing! The menu is very tempting and the food is excellent! Lovely hotel and lovely owners. We were a bit disappointed in our room as it faced the road and so we couldn't open our windows due to the noise (I think it was 17 and I believe 15 will have the same issue). So try to get rooms facing the pool, as it is a lovely view (and past that is a vineyard). Otherwise, the room was a nice size. Our breakfasts were verygood with a nice selection. We had a fantastic dinner there. Nearby is a walking path along the river so we thought the location was great. There is also a winery nearby.

I don’t think I could have picked a better home base to explore the Chateauneuf-du-Pape region of France. Hotel was intimate, peaceful, and incredibly relaxing. Staff was welcoming and helpful, hotel is minutes from some of the best wineries in the region, room was large with excellent a/c, hot shower with excellent water pressure, comfortable bed, and excellent breakfast out on the terrace. After a full day of exploring it was also nice to come back to dinner at the onsite restaurant. 100% recommend and would stay there again.

On tour during the Tour de France 2025, we stopped at this hotel for a coffee and breakfast but the staff were very unfriendly and made it clear that without a room reservation, this was not possible.
