Spello in 2 days

If you only have 2 days to spend in Spello, we’ve narrowed down the top places you should check out to get the best experience of your time here.
Spello is a picturesque Umbrian hill town known for its well-preserved Roman walls, medieval stone streets, and sweeping views over the Valle Umbra. Art lovers come to see the Renaissance frescoes by Pinturicchio in the Santa Maria Maggiore church, considered among the area’s finest. The town is also famous for its Infiorate flower festival around Corpus Christi, when elaborate floral carpets decorate the streets. With its local wine, olive oil, and relaxed small-town atmosphere, Spello makes an appealing base or day trip from nearby Assisi or Perugia.
With favorites like Ristorante Esotre, Villa dei Mosaici di Spello, and Gusto' Bistrot Spello, we’ll make sure you don’t miss out on all the must sees. We even included some of our favorite food spots around the area, like La Botte di Bacco and Enoteca Properzio S.R.L. so you can get the best taste of Spello while you’re here. To see our full list of food recommendations, check out our best restaurants post. If you're traveling on a budget, you can check out our cheap eats post.

Porta Consolare is the main entrance to Spello, a charming hill town in Umbria. The ancient gate is flanked by a medieval tower with a centuries-old olive tree on top, which has been a symbol of the community for thousands of years. The town offers magnificent views over the Umbrian plain from its old town and is filled with historical and cultural charm.
Its the first piazza you will see when you enter Spello from the train station. Right from the start it creates a medieval vibe and the rest of the town is pretty amazing with small piazzas, bars, restaurants and gelaterie. Especially the panoramic view from the top of the centro storico.

We cycled from Assisi to Spello to see yet another amazing and incredibly well preserved and fortified hill town. The electric bicycles we hired were amazing. Spello is a little less tourist oriented and well worth a visit.

Villa dei Mosaici di Spello is a glass-fronted museum that offers a fascinating insight into the Roman history of the town. Visitors can explore the incredible mosaics and Roman remains unearthed in this area, with hands-on activities often available for children. The museum showcases a splendid imperial-age villa with twenty rooms featuring stunning mosaic floors, displaying superior craftsmanship and elegant designs.
Ancient Roman site with splendid remains, discovered not so long ago. Very well organized and maintained, apparently discovered by accident during some excavation works.
Gerald L — Google review
Unexpected and interesting. Excellent mosaics. Discovered only within the last 20 years.
Marcus R — Google review
Have seen many better roman mosaics. These were nice and gave a good feeling for the size and layout of the house, but entrance prize a bit high for scope of museum.
Dave R — Google review
Really neat. Easy to find only takes about 30 minutes to walk the whole thing. Clean and tidy bathrooms.
Russell M — Google review
Nice stop, 30 min is enough to visit, a bit expensive to my taste, but it eventually became a beautifully thought-out exhibition of ruins including some interactive features.
Linda Z — Google review
Very interesting place where you can see the Roman house mosaic discovered in recent years. I don't know the Mosaic House in Sicily, that apparently is bigger than this one, but for me it worth the visit.
Rossma G — Google review
Ok, but for the price one would've expected working toilets with toilet paper. Also a bit excessive, as it usually is with the museums built in the last decades
Andrzej O — Google review
The 1 star is for the museum opening time. 😱😱 On Saturday 1st of June: closing time between 1 and 3 pm!!!! If you go at 12.35 you can’t get in; ticket must be purchased 30 minutes before for a museum that needs 10 minutes to be appreciated! This is the proof Italy doesn’t know how to sell its artistic patrimony!

La Cantina di Spello offers a rustic dining experience in a vaulted stone cellar, serving traditional Umbrian meat dishes and hand-rolled pasta. The restaurant is known for its intimate and romantic ambiance, making it a popular choice among visitors. It is recommended to make reservations well in advance due to its popularity.
Exquisite food and a lovely atmosphere! We ordered a variety of dishes to share and were genuinely happy with every single one—everything was delicious! Even my kids loved the legume soup, which says a lot. The truffle dishes were especially memorable—definitely worth trying. The staff were incredibly kind, both to our children and even to our dog, which we really appreciated. The decor is something special: a unique blend of art, history, and local culture, with stunning Deruta ceramic plates adding a beautiful touch to the experience. Oh, and I have to say—I absolutely loved the restroom door and lock. Such a quirky, fun detail that made me smile!
Bluewinters — Google review
Early lunch seating in an elevated classic cantina. Had the 3 pecorino cheese board and the chicken dish-the first time I have seen on a menu in IT. The chickens must be small and not as I expected, small body cooked and blacken fried, chopped and I was not able to find the breast and had to eat the pieces by hand to get meat. I should have prefer pasta. Otherwise a great service and local experience.
Tammy O — Google review
My wife and I enjoyed such beautiful lunch here! The service was absolutely first class. The restaurant is beautifully set out with old and unique furnishings. Please refer to the photos that’s attached to my review. The food was absolutely tasty!! Steak, medium rare was perfectly cooked, including rested, no blood at all. The bean dish was soooo good! As was the mixed grilled vegetables, truly delicious. Cannot recommend Ristorante La Cartina Spello strong enough!
Filippo — Google review
Reservation recommended! We went on a Monday night at 20:00 and got one of the last two tables available, everything else was full. It’s a beautiful restaurant, very kind personnel and delicious food. And they have panna cotta which we were very happy for!
Ludovica G — Google review
What a gem in the heart of Spello! The restaurant is set inside a rustic stone cellar with beautiful arches that immediately catch your eye – it feels like dining inside history. The unique ceramics from Domiziani, which you can also find in their shop just a few steps away, add an extra touch of character and colour to the tables. The staff could not have been nicer – warm, attentive, and with great recommendations. They suggested a wonderful local wine that paired perfectly with our meal. The food was absolutely outstanding, each dish somehow better than the last. We started with a sformatino di patate e porcini with Reggiano fondue and black truffle – rich and elegant. Then came the pappardelle al cinghiale, hearty and perfectly balanced. For the main, a grigliata mista that was full of flavour. And to finish, tozzetti with Sagrantino passito, the sweetest ending. Everything was so delicious that we ordered the same dish for each course rather than share – that says it all! 😂 A truly memorable experience – both for the food and the atmosphere. Highly recommended if you’re in Spello.
Hiva M — Google review
The food was excellent and you can tell that care is taken not only in making the food but in the choice of dishes and ingredients! The wine was lovely, there is a large selection! We had the Antipasto di Cantina (a great choice for someone who wants a bit of everything), the bocconcino di angelo, and pappardelle di cinghiale! Delicious!!
Alexandra C — Google review
We sat near the entrance since the indoor area was fully booked, but that didn’t stop us from having a wonderful time. We had three tagliatelle dishes: porcini, truffle, and tomato sauce. Absolutely delicious! The white wine was exquisite, and every dish was full of flavor. It was truly the highlight of our trip! I highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Spello. Just make sure to book a table in advance.
Zana N — Google review
Food was excellent. The staff and atmosphere was not at all representative of Spello. Everywhere else we ate people were so lovey and welcoming (and we ate at several other places) but would not go back to this restaurant. It’s a shame because the food is so good, but we just did not feel welcome here.

Churches & Cathedrals
Santa Maria Maggiore in Spello is a historical church that has been influenced by prominent families and the Church over the centuries. The Baglioni Family enriched it with architectural and artistic commissions, including the famous Baglioni chapel frescoed by Pinturicchio. Despite a period of decadence, the city experienced a revival in the 1960s. The church houses outstanding frescoes by Pinturicchio, making it one of Umbria's major art attractions.
This is in the centre of the centro storico of Spello. If you have good shoes and a fair degree of fitness it's well worth a visit. As the publicity says 'the beauty of the place is getting lost in the alleyways'. Even though you will need to do a lot of uphill walking, it is an enchanting place. It's a living town, full of small shops, excellent restaurants and more centuries of history than you could conceive of.
John H — Google review
Large Baroque style church built around the original chapel purportedly built by St Francis of Assisi. The huge church is overblown, but the tiny chapel inside is quite beautiful in its humble simplicity and mystical appearance. It is clearly revered by Christians.
Harry D — Google review
Beautiful church that nails the balance between simplicity and flamboyance in decoration
Pol X — Google review
Famous church in Spello, a small admition fee but well worth it. They did repair it after the earthquake. 12th century place of worship with beautifull frescoes, main side chapel Baglioni was painted by Pinturicchio. Well if he was good for a Borgia pope in Vatican then believe me u wanna see his art here. There is also a side altair that reminds me of story of Loreto....angels moving the house of Holy family.
Rok S — Google review
While the church interior does not stand out among many splendid Italian churches, the frescoes are rather special. Its especially nice to see them in full in the church, rather than fragments in the museum.
Giedrius S — Google review
The overall church was nice , but the side chapel was very beautiful. They limit the number of people in the chapel at one time, which made it much easier to appreciate.

We have eaten here multiple times and have loved it every time! The staff are wonderful and incredibly friendly. We have stopped in for aperitivo with a wonderful spread of snacks. I can’t recommend this place more. Do stop in if you are in Spello.

What a wonderful place. I wished we had found it earlier in our stay! The setting is perfect. There are tables on a balcony right next to the 2030 year old gate to the city. The good is fresh and well prepared: Delicious. We wanted a light meal and had a prosciutto and pecorino “torta di testo” and a mixed salad that included tuna and corn along with a mix of greens a fresh tomatoes. We enjoyed their artisanal beer and very nice wine. The people who work there could not have been more pleasant and welcoming and interesting to talk to. A perfect end to our visit to Spello.

This place is full of atmosphere and kind people. They provided a free bruschetta with a famous olive oil grown in the region. It was good. I had the pasta with black truffles which was generously shaved at the table. It was very good and the glass of wine from Montefalco was just right for me. The owner and the staff were very friendly. There were stacks of wine everywhere which made it so interesting. Sad we couldn’t be there to try out the various wines on offer! What a life! Loved lunch loved the place. Please go and enjoy

Great place for lunch. This place is open in Spello when all the others are mostly closed in the afternoon. Food is super fresh! Nice basement arrangement where you sit surrounded by wine. What i didnt like is that the owner (or manager) opened some bottle of wine after we had nice small talk and offered me some wine without letting me know the price or asking me if i wanted to pay X amount for this wine.It looked like a nice gesture to me but i was charged for it eventually. Its unprofessional in my opinion. Obv i paid and left (i won’t figure out how much was that when on vacation in Italy and my total bill was around €30). he possibly can open bottle while talking to you, pour it and you would need to pay for it (double check the price of wine and ask if you will be charged or its a restaurant compliment) Rather than that, everything was great. Impressive selection of wine and very authentic atmosphere. Great service. Must visit in Spello for wine lovers.

Our visit to Enoteca Properzio was one of the highlights of our honeymoon in Umbria. Luca, Irena, and the entire team made us feel like family from the moment we arrived. The food was incredible—authentic, flavorful, and perfectly paired with an exceptional selection of wines. It’s clear they’re passionate about what they do, and it shows in every detail. If you’re anywhere near Spello, this place is an absolute must. Highly recommended!

The food was outstanding, the olive oil was the best I’ve had, and the wine was the cherry on top. Irene and Luca were generous hosts and welcomed us kindly into their beautiful home of Spello. Their storefront is a must-visit for every Italian wine lover. They offer a large selection of fine wines that can be shipped to the states for a reasonable price. Thank you Angelini family, we will be back!

If you are after the most extensive offering of wines in Umbria , this is your go to ! We had the privilege of being hosted by the proprietor whose knowledge of wines is awe inspiring. We were fortunate too try a fabulous red which is produced locally in very limited quantities. A well priced food menu offering a good variety of local cuisine completes the package. We went more than once as we loved it so much ! Their olive oil and aged balsamico are worthy of mention too ! All locally produced too! Bonus ! They ship worldwide

Loved this place. We stayed in Spello for a week and went multiple times. I ate the best pasta dish I'd eaten in Italy. Simple with fava beans and guanciale it was fantastic. All the food we had was excellent, the service top shelf and the wines were excellent. They really know their wines at this bistro. Highly recommended.

The service and atmosphere were both very nice, and the staff was friendly. However, we were disappointed with the portion sizes compared to the price. The meat dish in the photo was served like this before we even took a bite. We ordered one bottle of water, two pasta dishes, and this meat plate.

Nice restaurant on Spello's Piazza Matteotti, near the Cappella Baglioni. The restaurant has a pleasant outdoor dining area as well as an internal room. The menu offers a varied selection of local dishes and the choices we made proved to be good, with generous portions and well cooked meals. Service is OK, quite effective even if the side dish arrived far too late compared to the main course. Prices are fair and in line with the quality of the restaurant.

There was a line for this restaurant, even when there was still a lot of space in the other restaurants next to it, which we thought was a good sign. Really disappointing. Waited for an hour to get the food and it really wasn't good at all. I ordered the tagliatelle with truffle sauce as I had it before and it was dry and tasteless. The kids menu, ragu with pasta was boring, a bit sour, and on top off everything, we were charged 2€ per person for a seat!!! In total 10€. Do not recommend. Staff was ok but disorganised, and the chef perhaps not being able to cope with the amount of work, hence the long wait. This is a true and honest review, so other people don't have the same bad experience. EDIT: This review was posted 2 years ago, August 2022. Google has blocked it coz I made a sarcastic comment about the chef. Perhaps you have improved, but my experience was not good. The pasta that I had before was in another place, so I know how it should taste. In your place it was dry....

Superb food and service, a place where locals as well as tourists eat. Bean soup was delicious and the mixed grill was great. Server struggled a little with English but we all get by in the end for a memorable meal. Will go back this week for another taste.

We arrived and waited a long time before anyone was around. All the tables were full of bottles and plates for ages, finally I speak to the woman and asked for a table outside for 6. She said we had to sit separately as she could not possibly put two tables together. Well, let’s just say, I’ll give my money to those who can be bothered to give good service. We only approached this restaurant because it was Thursday at it was 11 pm. There wasn’t much option in a Thursday night but we took ourselves away and ended up at a restaurant down the road where we received polite, efficient service and excellent food. Please do not bother with this place.

The town offers a serene and hospitable atmosphere, with ancient buildings, picturesque shop windows, and shops selling local products. Visitors can enjoy typical Umbrian dishes in excellent restaurants while exploring the Palazzo Trinci, which houses stunning frescoes.
A beautiful and walkable historic center. It’s big enough to spend a few hours walking in the small alleys. Mostly flat so also a nice walk for older or people with difficulty

Beautiful little town with a grand public square which includes the cathedral. Unfortunately, due to the earthquake a few years back, it is under construction and cannot be visited, the cathedral that is. Otherwise, other sights in the historical center are still possible to visit. Places like the Palazzo Trinci with its fabulous frescoes and paintings inside, as well as its Roman monuments and statues.

Disappointed. Maybe we missed the point, but by comparison to the other towns in Umbria this was rather scruffy, disjointed and unimpressive.

Spello, a medieval town in Umbria, Italy, is known for its enchanting event called Le Infiorate di Spello. This ancient tradition transforms the village streets into vibrant canvases adorned with various types of flowers. The festival takes place in June and draws large crowds to witness the stunning flower art. Beyond the infiorata, Spello captivates visitors with its narrow streets, ancient brick houses, and rich history.
Was very lucky to be staying in Spello when this incredible festival was on. Displays were better than imagined and so intricate. Town gets very busy so recommend going early, we were there at 07:30 and it was busy, can't imagine what it would have been like later on, when we were driving back from Assisi later in the day, the town was still very busy. But an incredible festival and well worth a visit!

A wonderful weekend with the locals showing great artistic skills with flowers.

So beautiful! I was staying inside of Spello so I could duck in and out of my apartment to check progress on the murals. That was necessary for me because the crowds could get a bit much, although they were very respectful. I've posted my favorite, it was on my side street and I wish I had gotten to speak to the artists that made it. It's a very beautiful tradition!

THE ORIGINS OF THE SPELLO INFIORATE Every year in Spello, on the occasion of Corpus Domini, from 1500 to 2000 meters of carpets and floral paintings inspired by religious motifs are manufactured. The custom of honoring the divinity with launches of floral material or the creation of floral compositions on the ground is lost in the mists of time in many places, but in Spello this tradition, which was channeled into throwing, then artfully placing plant elements on the roadway , is documented in the Municipality Archives for the first time in 1831. On the occasion of the visit of Bishop Ignazio Cadolini who should have taken possession of the city, on 19 October 1831 the gonfalonier Francesco Nicoletti requested all the inhabitants of the houses overlooking on the main street, through which the procession with the high prelate would pass, to keep the respective stretches of road in front of their houses well cleaned and free from any rubble for that day and to sprinkle a copy of flowers or vegetables [ ...]. The iconographic evidence relating to the infiorate in Spello dates back to the early 1900s: Benvenuto Crispoldi (1886-1923), painter and mayor of Spello, depicted the passage of the Corpus Domini procession on the infiorata in one of his paintings. In a short time, the artistic composition of the flowered carpet took hold in Spello, which transformed the feast of Corpus Domini into a joyful occasion in which all the families and then groups of ever more expert flower growers could compare their works and reward those judged to be the best for their ability. technique, precision and creativity. Organized for forty years by Pro Spello and since 2002 by the Association "Le Infiorate di Spello", with the patronage of the Region and local authorities, the event attracts thousands of visitors and tourists: since 2007, for the occasion, 60-100 thousand people arrive every year in Spello between Saturday and Sunday.

In the heart of the town, Piazza della Repubblica is a bustling square where you can find the Town Hall, Palazzo Comunale. The area is lined with shops offering local goods and crafts, as well as art shops. Surrounding the square are taverns, restaurants, and wine bars serving up delicious local cuisine and produce. Bar Giardino - Bonci is a charming spot located at Via Garibaldi 10, offering a delightful back patio with stunning views. The large garden may lack in decor but compensates with its phenomenal scenery, making it an ideal place to savor wine and antipasti. Visitors can capture picturesque moments and explore the main streets nearby. The lemon sherbet comes highly recommended for food enthusiasts.
We had lovely service and great food every time we came here. We had breakfast two days and a spritz at the end of every long day of walking. We basically don’t speak Italian. The staff walk km’s everyday out to the tables and every time they showed up it was with a smile. Same goes for the service at the counter. She even remembered I wanted a fresh juice on the second day. We will always cherish the time we spent peacefully relaxing at their table enjoying the incredible view and the lovely hospitality. Couldn’t be a more welcoming and relaxing spot.

We just had lunch here. I wanted something light and the waitress suggested Salad Caprese. It was just perfect for me. We sat in a peaceful garden looking out on the beautiful countryside. I had chinnotto. It is grownups Coke - not too sweet. My daughter loved her Aperol Spritz.
Jillian C — Google review
A good place to sit down and have a drink. The aperol might be a bit more expensive on the menu card, but you get some snacks with it. Prices here are fine. I read a lot of negative reviews as well as positive reviews. Seems like overall it’s really mixed rated. Maybe there is some bad personal working here and we got here on a good day?
Jente B — Google review
These are my thoughts. I admit I was apprehensive after reading the reviews. I sat down and my table was cleared quickly and a different waitress came over to take my order promptly. I ordered a focaccia and aperol spritz. The drink came quickly along with some complimentary crisps and nuts. It was a nice drink. The food came soon after and while it wasn’t the best food I’ve had in Italy by any means I still enjoyed it enough. Besides the setting is absolutely stunning. To conclude the notorious ladies at the front counter proved to be smiling and helpful when I went to pay. I would suggest this place is making a conscious effort to change its ways, or maybe I just caught them on a good day.

The Church of Saint Andrew, a stunning example of Romanesque architecture dating back to the 13th century, is a must-visit for anyone exploring its rich history. Originally built by the Franciscans in 1253, this charming church has undergone various renovations over the years, including neo-Gothic updates in the early 20th century. Inside, visitors are greeted with an array of breathtaking frescoes that tell biblical stories and depict saints' lives.
Like this church for the lack of light, there are like 5 small windows. U can sit down, pray, relax, organize thoughts..😉 But it is a 1000 years old church with frescoes from the same artist as the famous Maria Maggiore.

Church built in 1253 by the Franciscans. Abandoned in 1860 but restoration began in the 1980s. It's a beautiful and modest church where history and it's signifance can be felt. Frescoes all throughout with one dating from 1508.

Great experience at this wine bar, the products were truly excellent, from the cured meats to the wine. Venus' Gate, also known as Porta Venere, is a significant historical site in Spello. The town's dense population led to its division into three districts: the Terzieri of Pusterola, Mezota, and Porta Chiusa. The gate is part of the town walls and dates back to the Augustan era. Visitors can admire the Roman architecture and explore the well-preserved city gates.
Such a historic place Spello. A Roman town that dates back so long. With its Roman Aquaduck that’s still running before BC! Venus Gate even has that Roman sound to it. A very superstitious folk the Romans were, prayed to so many gods.

They lied to us and ripped us off. We went there to buy olive oil, the service was nice and we tasted some oil and bought a nice (although expensive) bottle. We also bought a bottle of “20 year old” balsamic vinegar for €38. The same bottle was listed on the manufactures website on the back of the bottle for €15(surprise surprise, not 20 years old)… I called to ask about this to see if there was some sort of mistake and I was just rudely told that is the price they sell it for and there is nothing they can do about it. If you want to be taken advantage of as a tourist, this is the place to go.

We sat down and ordered a bottle of sparkling water. After 30 minutes of waiting and no one coming to our table, we asked if someone would be able to take our order. About 10 minutes later, a server finally came over. We asked for a bottle of rosé and a cappuccino, and my sister tried ordering a tomato salad. Before we could even finish going around the table to order the rest of our food, our server very aggressively began yelling at us, saying they were a restaurant— not a bar. We explained that we were not done ordering our food yet. We were completely surprised and taken aback by his outrage. He collected our menus quickly and said “no,” cutting us off mid-sentence & seeming as if he was trying to kick us out, then stormed off without another word even though we had already waited a significant amount of time and were not finished ordering food. A friendly couple at the table next to us started translating, asking the waiter why he was being so rude and trying to defend us/ensure he understood that we were getting more food and were not done. The couple politely informed us that maybe we should try asking for coffee at the end of our meals (although this had never been an issue any other time we’ve come to Italy). At this point we were all extremely frustrated with the waiter’s response and didn’t want to even give this restaurant our business. We gave him euro for the sparking water and left. The couple next to us apologized for his behavior, saying they were sorry for these types of Italians. Not sure if he was upset that we only spoke broken Italian, at the fact that we are American, or the coffee being ordered before the food but regardless, the service was terrible. Americans please be aware before coming here. Many other restaurants have been extremely polite, so this was an absolute first for us.

Il Molino is a newly opened restaurant in Spello that has quickly become a sophisticated dining option. The elegantly restored venue offers a beautiful setting and welcoming staff. Guests have enjoyed delicious dishes such as pasta with butter and black truffles, grilled lamb with berry sauce, and the best pistachio crème brûlée. It's been described as a gem with wonderful ambiance and really good food, making it one of the most beautiful dining rooms in Umbria.
Early dining without reservations. Seating in & outside but do not miss the elegant elevated evening dining experience inside, I sat in a beautiful, calm interior…had the creative ‘sweet’ lasagna and porcini & chestnut soup, of course with wine-note I was shown a list that looked like US pricing or Italian bottle when I asked about by glass that was the price explained, I think in the end it was a bottle list but they charge by glass from a price not noted, I would have ordered another;). Great service, dishes served by the chef.

When I sat down (at an outdoor table under the trees) I was not expecting to be served the best plate of pasta I've ever tasted. It was the tortellini and every mouthful was an absolute delight. I'm so glad I managed to catch the chef's eye and let her know (via sign language) how I felt about the meal. I also really enjoyed the (suggested) wine - an Indigeno Trebbiano 2022. As a solo traveller there are some wait staff who make you feel welcome and valued and others who definitely don't, so it was equally satisfying to have such friendly service. Of my 6 weeks in Italy, this meal was a real highlight.

Really good! Food, Atmosphere and service are all top notch. A fancy twist on typical Umbrian fare. Really deserves a Michelin star.

Ate lunch on the very pleasant patio. The asparagus pasta was very good but the lamb ribs were very dry and tough, and almost impossible to cut with the steak knife provided. Worst lamb we’ve had in many years. The saffron pear dessert was excellent.

A beautiful restaurant that is elegantly restored. Welcoming staff that explained the menu I had the pasta with butter and black truffles which was delicious The grilled lamb with a berry sauce was not quite there.

Amazing food, lovely location and absolut stunning inside. The host was nice and nothing bad to say about the place.

Overpriced for quality of food. Too pretentious - breadsticks in a fragrance diffuser holder to be fancy. Pasta dish came out very quick and pasta too soft. Second course rabbit - very chewy

One of the best restaurants in Italy I have ever been. Top staff and atmosphere. Highly delicious food and drinks served with smile. Highly recommend to be visited.

Ristorante Porta Venere is a hidden gem in Spello, offering unbelievable views from its patio, especially at sunset. The food and drinks are great, with a variety of delicious pastas and the beef carpaccio being standout dishes. The terrace provides a lovely location to enjoy traditional local food and the friendly service. The restaurant's top-tier food and wine selection, beautiful terrace, and passionate staff make guests feel like family.
This spot is by far my favorite I have been to in Italy. We’ve been here for two weeks this trip, and I’ve been here prior for another two weeks. The flavors are so fresh, artisan, and perfectly compliment the meals served here. We got the eggplant parmigiana to start along with a truffle gnocchi that wasn’t on the menu, but that they gladly made. YUM! Our wine was delicious as well, in addition to our tiramisu dessert. It was a very creamy version and I liked the distinction. The views are to die for as well! I think where this restaurant tends to get marked down is for service. If you just assert yourself (“Can I have dessert now, the bill, etc.”) then they are very responsive. They otherwise you will wait for a longer period of time, but it’s just the Italian way.

We ate dinner at this place on our first night in Spello. The place is a bit tricky to find but if you are lucky to get a table by the view of the valley the atmosphere can be a 5. Unfortunately the two of us were sitted in the center under heavy umbrellas that makes the place hot, without ventilation and the nice restaurant becomes another place w/o any charm. The service was good, efficient not particularly friendly. The food was OK nothing remarkable with typical regional dishes - The evening was hot and humid and without any ventilation we couldn't wait to finish and go. We remained in Spello for 8 days and did not return to this restaurant as we found another place with the same food, but much cheaper.

Great hidden gem in Spello! The patio has unbelievable views, especially at sunset. The drinks and food were great, too. Our server, Cedric, went above and beyond to make sure we had a great experience! We shared four different pastas and the beef carpaccio - all were delicious! Really great place for dinner or sunset drinks.

Lovely location: it's worth eating there even if only for the view from the terrace. Can be quite busy during peak season. Friendly service, and lovely traditional local food. Try the Strangozzi al Tartufo Estivo. Fair prices.

Great little restaurant with a nice intimate atmosphere and good quality/price ratio. The antipasti were particularly amazing with gourmet presentation and taste. I recommend the Flan di fave topped with crispy guanciale.

View is nice, food is ok, service is below average. When the waitress doesn't know what a classic Negroni is and act arrogantly about it, is not a good start. To make things worse, she didn't serve the glass of wine to my partner. Stay away from this place, there's way better options and more friendly places in this amazing town.

We were hoping to find a restaurant with a sunset view and found this place. The meal was completely enjoyable and the service was great. Highly recommended!
