Castello Carrarese may not be the most impressive castle, but its park offers a peaceful retreat with shady spots and water dispensers for hot days. The well-kept facility encourages visitors to linger and take in the surroundings. However, it's worth noting that the castle is only open on specific days of the month. Despite this, it's a nice place to visit and take photos, although amenities like toilets may be limited.
This is a gorgeous castle with gardens to walk around and a kids play area. We had a nice time walking around and exploring the neighborhood. It's a nice little town with a local market and many restaurants and coffee shops. It was a nice stop! Beautiful views of you walk all the way to the top!

While the castle itself wasn't open, due to some renovations, the gardens adjacent to it are open to the public for free. Inside are many flowers blooming. Places to walk and sit in the shade. Can see the castle walls from inside. Worth a visit!

The Museo Nazionale Atestino was established during the Napoleonic era and has been housed in the Palazzo Mocenigo since 1902. This museum primarily showcases archaeological findings from the pre-Roman and Roman periods in Este, Italy. The artifacts on display include art and items excavated from the town of Este and its surroundings. The museum is particularly known for its collection of skeletons, including that of a woman buried with her child.
I had a great time visiting the Museo Atestino. They have an amazing selection of art and artifacts! It is also interesting that they were found in the region. Have to mention that the staff are also very helpful and friendly.

The Museo Nazionale Atestino is a mainly archeologic museum, displaying pre-Roman and Roman art and artifacts found in and around the town of Este in the province of Padova, region of Veneto, Italy. Since 1902, the museum has been housed in the Palazzo Mocenigo, a palace erected in the 16th century incorporating into the façade part of the walls of the 14th-century castello dei Carraresi, which in 1056, had served as housing for the House of Este. The 16th-century reconstruction was patronized by the Mocenigo family of Venice. But this palace was generally destroyed in a fire in 1785. Three rooms of the Piano nobile still retain 17th-century frescoes by Giulio Carpioni. The main collection includes 65,000 items of historical significance, plus designs, and a library.[1]

Saint Thecla's Cathedral, a stunning architectural gem in Este, boasts a striking contrast between its austere exterior and the beautifully oval-shaped Baroque interior. This historic site stands on the remnants of an ancient early Christian church that succumbed to an earthquake in 1688, with roots tracing back to the 4th-5th century AD. Dedicated to Saint Thecla, a virgin martyr from Anatolia, this cathedral is not only significant for its religious heritage but also for its artistic treasures.

(Translated by Google) The Cathedral of Santa Tecla in Este is the oldest and most well-known place of worship in the city, built on the ashes of an ancient early Christian church, destroyed by an earthquake in 1688. Its foundation probably dates back to the 4th-5th century AD, when on the remains of a pre-existing pagan temple, the parish church dedicated to Santa Tecla, virgin and martyr originally from Anatolia, was built. During the medieval era the building was progressively enlarged and the church came to have five naves. During the restoration works carried out between 1583 and 1592, following Vincenzo Scamozzi's project, the facade was rebuilt towards the new center that had been created in the meantime. In 1688 the earthquake seriously damaged the religious building, which was demolished and rebuilt. The Venetian architect Antonio Gaspari designed a unique Baroque architectural work of its kind, with an original oval plan and oblique architecture. The works continued until the third decade of the 18th century with embellishment works which, however, did not lead to the execution of the façade, which, according to Gaspari's project, was to be richly covered with marble and statues. The Cathedral of Santa Tecla in Este contains within it a large number of eighteenth-century works of art by illustrious names such as Tiepolo, Corradini, Grigoletti, Zanchi and Amigoni. The most famous work of art is certainly the large altarpiece - currently being restored - located in the apse depicting Santa Tecla, who intercedes with the Eternal Father for the liberation of the city from the plague of 1630, created by Giovan Battista Tiepolo in 1759. The canvas of considerable size is considered the masterpiece among the paintings with sacred subjects by the famous Venetian artist. Another work of great value is located to the right of the presbytery, in the chapel of the Blessed Sacrament. This is the sculptural group depicting the Triumph of the Eucharist by the Venetian master Antonio Corradini. The Cathedral houses the incorrupt body of the Blessed Beatrice d'Este, the "second patroness" of the city, under the altar of the same name. Hours: solar time: from 07.00 to 11.45 and from 15.30 to 17.00; summer time: from 07.00 to 11.45 and from 16.00 to 18.00. On Sundays and religious holidays it can only be visited in the afternoon. Free admission Giovan Battista Tiepolo's masterpiece: “Santa Tecla praying to the Eternal Father” (1759) has returned to the apse of the Cathedral. The parish of Santa Tecla in Este celebrated the 2020 Christmas holiday with the definitive relocation of Tiepolo's Santa Tecla Altarpiece in the Apse of the Cathedral. 24 December 1759, Christmas Eve: the altarpiece representing Saint Thecla praying to the Eternal Father for the liberation of the city of Este from the plague is placed in the apse of the Cathedral in the presence of the author, the famous Venetian painter Giovanbattista Tiepolo, accompanied by his son Giandomenico. After 261 years from that significant event and several years of meticulous restoration, the Tiepolo Altarpiece is placed back in the Cathedral and shines with all the beauty of its colors. An event that the parish would have liked to celebrate with great solemnity in this year which celebrates the 250th anniversary of Tiepolo's death, but the Covid-19 pandemic has postponed the timing of the celebrations. In the meantime, the Cathedral, built between the end of the 1600s and the beginning of the 18th century, has been completely restored, both externally and internally, highlighting all the particularity of its original elliptical-shaped architecture. For eight long years, until the end of 2020, the restoration of the Tiepolo Altarpiece first had to deal with meticulous cleaning work, to bring out the beauty of Tiepolo's typical colors and then the search for the optimal solution for a curved frame that would follow the layout of the presbytery, as the Author had wanted. The Torre Civica di Porta Vecchia, also known as the Civic Tower, is a crenellated structure of three floors built in the twelfth century next to the Estense Castle. It serves as a symbol of Este alongside the castle and was rebuilt after the 1688 earthquake. The tower features two different clocks on each side and a bronze bell dating back to 1600.
Civic Tower of Porta Vecchia (17th century). The Civic Tower of Este, commonly known as Porta Vecchia, is a late 17th century construction that is striking for its position and its imposing and spectacular appearance. We can consider it, together with the Castle, the monument-symbol of Este. Originally, where the current tower now stands, there was a masonry tower that served as a gateway to the village for those coming from the south or west. It certainly already existed in the thirteenth century, when the city was ruled by the marquises of Este. In the following century the tower took the name of Carrarese, in honor of the family that held the lordship of Padua and that freed Este from the Scaligeri, then building the castle that still exists. The old tower was damaged and made unstable by the earthquake of April 1688, the same that caused the central nave of the Cathedral of Santa Tecla to collapse. The authorities of the time decided for safety reasons to proceed with the demolition of the building and in 1690 the new tower was built, the Porta Vecchia that we can all see today. The new building was embellished with unique Ghibelline merlons and in the 1700s a large clock was placed on the side facing the square, showing the phases of the moon in addition to the 12-hour Roman numerals. The tower is divided internally into three rooms: the "fireplace room", connected to the entrance on the ground floor by a circular trachyte spiral staircase; the "mezzanine room", which is accessed via another modern spiral wooden staircase; the belfry that houses a valuable seventeenth-century bell.

(Translated by Google) Entering the town and looking up, the Porta Vecchia Tower captures attention with its scenographic presence. Rebuilt as we see it today in 1690 on the ruins of a previous gate made unstable by an earthquake, it was embellished by the clock which, together with the bell, has marked the time of the Este family for centuries. It can be visited (I didn't have the opportunity), but above all it makes the area overlooking it fascinating and, sitting in one of the numerous rooms, you can't help but appreciate the elegant architecture of the symbol of Este.

Nestled in the charming town of Monselice, Villa Pisani is a stunning example of Palladian architecture that dates back to the 16th century. Originally built as a country residence by Venetian noble Francesco Pisani, this well-preserved villa showcases an impressive facade adorned with four faux columns and a grand tympanum featuring angels supporting a heraldic coat of arms.
A must visit in Monselice !

(Translated by Google) Villa built in the 16th century by the Venetian noble Francesco Pisani of Zuanne. Although born as a country residence, it appears well-kept and valorised, it is currently owned by the municipality. The facade with 4 fake columns has a large tympanum inside which two large angels hold up a now worn heraldic coat of arms (probably of the house of Francesco Pisani). The building has a square two-storey plan with a similar layout of the rooms. The entrance to the villa leads directly into the main room on the ground floor, a room with entirely frescoed walls with landscape views and views. The remaining rooms on the ground floor are occupied by offices and lounges. Going up to the first floor, you enter the main room which, similarly to that of the ground floor, is entirely frescoed with prevalent landscape scenes, all well preserved thanks to the last restoration dating back to 1983. The other smaller side rooms see the presence of frescoes linked to sacred images or simple representations of sculptures. What can be appreciated are the painting styles of the villa which seem to belong to different painters. The rooms are unfurnished.

I have dined at Ripasso on numerous occasions and each visit has been exceptional in terms of both the cuisine and service. The seafood dishes are consistently well-prepared, featuring interesting flavor combinations. The staff is always attentive and possesses a wealth of knowledge when it comes to suggesting wine pairings. The restaurant itself exudes an air of quiet sophistication, with fresh floral arrangements adorning each table. Its convenient location on the main pedestrian street allows for both indoor and outdoor dining options.

You shouldn't mark the opening hours 7-00 on Google Maps, because that's not true. Looking for an open restaurant during the hours of a typical Italian pause, we were delighted to see on Google Maps that we would be able to eat in Este at Ripasso and what a disappointment - the restaurant, like everything else in the area, turned out to be closed.

(Translated by Google) We had a spritz, a very nice, well-kept place with a lovely atmosphere, especially because it overlooks the Este gardens. The woman who served us was truly kind, friendly, welcoming, and knowledgeable. The only flaw, unfortunately, was the spritz itself: the flavor wasn't balanced and there wasn't much fizz. I wanted to write this review precisely because I hope the owners will read and listen to it. It's a shame that such a beautiful place doesn't offer adequate quality spritz, which is too often taken for granted.

(Translated by Google) We went to Incalmo for dinner and left really satisfied. The place is elegant, with attention to the smallest details, with a welcoming and modern atmosphere that immediately puts you at ease. The staff is trained, attentive and courteous, always present at the right time without ever appearing intrusive - something rare and always much appreciated. We chose to dine à la carte, preferring to explore the menu freely. We tasted all the first courses offered, each one different, balanced and well executed: from intense but never excessive flavours, to quality raw materials enhanced with great technique and respect. Next, we ordered the lamb, cooked to perfection, tender and tasty, with studied side dishes that completed the dish perfectly. The wine list is extensive and well thought out, with an honest selection of Italian and foreign labels, capable of satisfying both those looking for important bottles and those who simply want to accompany dinner with a good glass. Overall an excellent experience, a restaurant where the passion for cooking and attention to the customer are clearly perceived. Well done, keep it up! We will definitely be back. Torneremo sicuramente.

Pizza restaurant
Gigi Pipa is a lovely pizzeria located in a beautifully renovated venue with modern interiors and an open kitchen. They offer a special pizza made with heritage wheat dough and Cetara anchovies, which is described as one of the best pizzas ever tasted. The classic dough is also highly praised. The pizza tasting menu features high-quality ingredients, and the desserts are innovative and delicious.
Lovely pizzeria in a completely renovated venue with beautiful open kitchen and modern interiors. The pizza tasting menu is awesome and with high quality ingredients. Service can be a bit inexperienced at times, definitely something to work on.

I still like their gourmet pizzas (24 EUR though) while I was somewhat disappointed by the classic ones. Service is still good and it's always a pleasure to see the old town. I wish they had a playground for kids nearby as there is plenty of available space.

Don't go here if you can't use QR code menus, as they won't provide paper ones! We googled this pizzeria and we're looking forward to a great meal from the pics. Unfortunately, the map didn't pinpoint the correct location so we ended up having to ask a local, who kindly brought us to the restaurant. After a 30min walk in 35 degree heat, we were happy that the restaurant had air con, so sat down and were warmly greeted by one of the waitresses. She brings over some bread and we are left waiting for the menus. About 5 mins later she returns to ask what we'd like, and we say we haven't had the menus and she points to the QR code soon the table. As my phone doesn't do QR codes properly, I asked her if I could have a paper copy and was told that they didn't do them at all. My husband had managed to get it on his phone, but trying to share the phone to decide on what to have, and using Google translate on mine to work out what everything was, was just taking too long with both of us having to do this After 20 mins of trying we gave up and walked out. Such as shame they can't cater for those who find the whole menu on the phone thing difficult to use, or those who don't have smart phones - printing a couple of menus can't be that difficult.

What can I say? Tried the special pizza with Cetara anchovies and it was one of the best pizza of my life. Heritage wheat dough made with sourdough starter. Amazing tomato sauce. In one word perfect. Tried also the classic dough and it was great too. Desserts are innovative and scrumptious. The young waitress took great care of us. Thank you.

Sushi restaurant
Authentic Japanese restaurant
Zenzero Sushi Este is a delightful culinary destination that has pleasantly surprised many visitors despite some initial hesitations due to mixed reviews. The sushi here is truly exceptional, showcasing high-quality fish and innovative dishes at reasonable prices. While the wakame may have had an unusual flavor for some, it’s worth noting that this could be a one-off experience. The service stands out as friendly and accommodating, with staff going above and beyond to find seating even during busy times.
(Translated by Google) All you can eat €12.90 for lunch (drinks and cover charge excluded)...Nice atmosphere, excellent dishes! Easy ordering via tablet, the dishes arrive diluted in a decidedly short time (but you don't gorge yourself in a hurry to move on to the next dish). Absolutely recommended! (Original) All you can eat euro 12,90 a pranzo (bevande e coperto escluse) …Bell’ambiente, ottimi piatti! Assolutamente consigliato!

(Translated by Google) Delicious food with original, high quality dishes at affordable prices. I recommend this restaurant to gorge on sushi or even other dishes, for those who don't like sushi, thanks to the excellent alternatives. (Especially the shrimp, spaghetti and chicken skewers). It is one of the best restaurants in the area.

(Translated by Google) Terrible experience at Sushi Zenzero! I found a hair in my sushi, which is unacceptable. The nigiri were inedible, they tasted like glue. The atmosphere was depressing, and the service left much to be desired. The food quality is terrible!!! I hope they take customer reviews seriously to improve; at the moment, I strongly advise against it.

(Translated by Google) The place itself impressed me because I was a bit afraid from the negative reviews I read But I changed my mind..it has some small flaws but otherwise the sushi is excellent The only thing I didn't like was the wakame that had a different flavor from the usual wakame I ate but maybe it was a momentary exclusion.. As for the service, the guys are very kind unlike what many reviews said..in fact they found us a little place at the last minute with a lot of kindness. The only flaw is that they often forgot about us.. Or they confused us with other tables.. That's the only thing that needs improving. For the rest I recommend it if you want to take a walk in Este and then eat some good sushi Warning. The portions are small except for the normal fried hosomaki..but that's okay because you can taste more things!

(Translated by Google) "A real disappointment! The sushi was frozen and tasted like plastic, the rice was like glue! The service was equally terrible, even including a hair in one plate. The atmosphere was boring and impersonal. I won't waste any more money here. One of the worst sushi restaurants I've ever been to. Avoid!" The only good thing? Being alive. (Original) "Una vera delusione! Evitatelo!" L’unica cosa positiva ? Essere ancora vivo

(Translated by Google) The fish quality is very good! Efficient service! Recommended for sushi lovers, both raw and cooked! The portions are just right for an all-you-can-eat experience! A tablet is available at every table to order dishes directly from your table. The restaurant's style is very modern with a futuristic feel. Highly recommended! The rose grappa and rice grappa are delicious 🤤 (Original) Qualità del pesce molto buona! Servizio efficiente! Porzioni giuste per un all you can eat ! Consigliatissimo! Grappa di rosa e di riso buonissime 🤤
