Mura di Cittadella e Camminamento di Ronda is the main attraction in Cittadella, a beautiful small city surrounded by well-maintained medieval walls steeped in history. The ramparts are open from 9 am to 5 pm during winter and until 7 pm from April to September, with the last entry one hour before closing. It takes about 30-45 minutes to walk around the walls, offering stunning views of the city.
i was casually scrolling through maps when I stumbled upon this tiny, walled village. since it happened to be on our route, we decided to stop for half a day. and honestly i have no idea how i have never heard of this place. it’s stunning. for just 3€ (student discount), you can walk along the medieval walls, which offer breathtaking views. from up there, you get a perfect panorama of the entire village, a massive church dominating the skyline, and mountains stretching into the distance like a postcard that somehow came to life. if you ever get the chance stop here.

Very well-maintained walls, clean and safe. Panoramic and cool to walk during evening in the spring. €5 (per adult) well spent.

This is such a hidden gem - beautiful place and seriously impressive to be able to make the full tour on medieval city walls. Little tricky with a fear of heights, but manageable. The barriers were robust all round, and we felt sufficiently secure to bring our little boy there. Prams can be left at the entrance. The inside of the city itself is also nice to stroll around.

My wife and I were brought here by a family friend while visiting her here in Italy. We walked along the top of the wall that surrounds the city and marveled at the sights. The view is incredible. I wouldn't recommend the tour along the wall for anyone who's afraid of heights. The city itself is charming and had a street market setup when we were there. I was told that the market is only setup on Mondays.

Super cool experience to walk the walls surrounding this city. Only ones of the style that ypu still can walk in Europe. 360 degree veiws of the ancient town inside the walls and out along with a couple museums.

Cittadella itself is a nice little place. The normal day to day Italian life is visible here, in september there are hardly toerist. On Wednesday morning there is a market, the city holds Manny (coffee)bars and restaurants. There are also a lot of clothing shops. Verry nice for a 4-5 hour visit and lunch. The wall costs 5 euro to visit and wil give you stunning views over the city and surroundings. In a ralex pace the walk around took us 1 hour+. Note: not suitable for people with fear of heights 🫣.

A truly beautiful historic town with stunning buildings and a remarkable castle wall that can be visited and walked upon. There are plenty of cozy spots to enjoy coffee or grab a bite to eat, and parking is abundant and inexpensive. Do note that everything closes at 1 p.m. and reopens at 3 p.m. for siesta. Highly recommended.

BEAUTIFUL AND BREATHTAKING WALK ALONG THE HISTORIC CITY WALLS OF CITTADELLA. The full-price ticket for multiple destinations is very good and valid for a whole year. There is plenty of parking nearby. We purchased our entrance tickets from the tourist office located next to Porta Bassano.

Upon exploring the fortified walls, one can explore the streets of the historical center to uncover the Teatro Sociale, an exquisite treasure adorned by the very same artist responsible for painting Fenice in Venice. Within this remarkable venue lies Duomo, showcasing Jacopo Bassano's masterpiece, La Cena di Emmaus. Additionally, within this area is Palazzo Pretorio—a splendid Renaissance abode once occupied by Cittadella's podesta—resplendent in its lavish frescoes.
A wonderful production of Camelot in a beautiful little jewel of a theatre built in 1817 circa.

The Teatro Sociale di Cittadella stands on Strada Indipendenza, facing the Vicenza Gate, near the Palazzo della Loggia. A visit to the theater is included in the Cittadella Card, or you can purchase a ticket at the theater entrance. It is a small jewel of 19th-century architecture, built between 1817 and 1828. The lady who welcomed us at the entrance told us a brief history. The exterior façade is attributed to Giuseppe Jappelli, while the interior, decorated with splendid frescoes depicting flowers, cupids, and allegorical figures, is the work of Francesco Bagnara, who also decorated the Teatro La Fenice in Venice. The theater is structured with an atrium, a semicircular hall with a stage, three tiers of boxes, and a smoking room. Well maintained by the municipality, the Teatro Sociale di Cittadella is open throughout the year for various cultural events. We were happy to visit it.

It feels like going back in time. The Murano glass chandelier above the stalls and the inclination of the stage to ensure a view for everyone in the stalls are fantastic. Worth seeing. The Door of Padua is adorned with frescoes depicting the emblem of Padova, a red cross on a white background, and a chariot representing the ruling family, the Carraresi. The Torre di Malta, once a prison but now housing an Archeological Museum, displays the chariot fresco. This gate into the Old Town showcases the insignia of Padua's Municipality and the coat of arms of the Carraresi family.
One of the four gates into the Old Town, it shows the insignia of the Municipality of Padua and the coat of arms of the Carraresi, a legacy of the period of dominion of that family, as well as of Padua, over the town.

Previously someone's review saying that the access to this 800-year old City Walls was at the Porta Bassano (northern gate) only. During my visit in March 2025, access and admission is now available at the Porta Padova (southern gate) too. What is better is that there is a working elevator/lift to go up to the tower in this museum. The entrance is on the right (east side) of the gate.

Located at the end of Cittadella, Torre di Malta is a medieval tower with a notorious past. Once used as a prison, it was known as 'the bloody door' during the tyrant Ezzelino III da Romano's rule. Visitors can climb the sturdy tower for panoramic views of Cittadella and the Veneto landscape. The tower also offers a glimpse into history with presentations featuring knights in armor.
Beautifully presented history, dames and knights in shiny armour, amongst other. Very kind and helpful staff. Oposite the entry gate, half way through the walls and you're here. Place where you can buy souvenirs, like postcards, magnets, t-shirts, etc. Also snacks and soft drinks. Reasonable prices. Gorgeous view of the whole town and in particular of the cathedral.

(Translated by Google) The Tower of Malta in Cittadella, the famous "bloody tower" of the ancient walled city, is a powerful construction set against the Porta Padovana. The fortress gained a sad reputation among its contemporaries due to the atrocities committed there, so much so that Dante himself mentions it in the Divine Comedy. It was built in 1251 by order of Ezzelino III da Romano, despotic ruler of the area, who made it a prison for his enemies. It is said that the prisoners were sent to the castle with their feet tied under the horses' bellies and, once there, they were lowered into the basement of the tower and left to die of hunger, amidst cruel torments. In 1256, when Ezzelino was expelled from Padua, the citizens of Cittadella opened the doors to Tiso di Camposampiero who freed several hundred prisoners, including women, reduced to a miserable state; Ezzelino's partisans, however, were pushed into a courtyard and massacred. Two plaques have been placed on the wall of the Tower, engraved with a passage from Rolandino's "Cronica" and the verses of Dante who endorses the tragic tale with his authority as a poet. The Tower of Malta has been the subject of passionate historical research by scholars from Cittadella and it is clear from them that it is Malta from Cittadella itself that was named by the divine Poet. For some years the large conference room on the ground floor has been the venue for conferences and round tables, while the upper floors are reserved for the Archaeological Museum. The museum is very beautiful and worth a look.

(Translated by Google) Sturdy tower built to reinforce the nearby Porta Padova, one of the 4 entrances in the medieval walls of Cittadella. Also sadly known as "the bloody door", because for 5 years (from 1251 to 1256..) it was the terrible prison where the tyrant Ezzelino III da Romano locked up his victims, condemned to die in hardship and torture in the dungeons. Even Dante, in the Divine Comedy, refers to it. Today it houses an archaeological museum, armor and, from its top, there is an excellent panoramic view. It is accessed from the walkway on the walls.

In 1816 it was renovated according to neoclassical canons by the architect Carlo Barera. Among the preserved elements of the previous building, the frieze that runs along the walls of the portico on the ground floor is interesting, with the coats of arms of the Venetian podestàs, and the fifteenth-century bas-relief of the Lion of St. Mark, hidden by the citizens of Cittadella in the Napoleonic era and found in thickness of a wall of the same building. Historical place
Torrione Porta Bassano is a significant part of the city walls, once serving as a crucial defense for the population. It housed various facilities and a fortified tower, now home to the Tourist Office and the starting point for a scenic walkway. Standing at 30 meters tall, it is one of the most well-equipped gates with depictions of historical coat of arms.
It is the most equipped and most imposing gate of the four, 30 meters in height. Like Porta Padova there are depictions of the Carrarese family coat of arms. On the first floor the building boasts 13th & 16th century frescoes of the coats of arms of the families who ruled the city. Most importantly for the visitor - this is the entrance where you get to walk around the town walls from the top!

(Translated by Google) It is the most fortified and important point of the entire city wall. It constituted the last defense of the community and was therefore also isolated internally by a ditch ingeniously connected with the external ditches; it also featured a system of 5 doors, three towards the outside, two towards the inside, characterized by drawbridges and shutters. Larger than the other gates, the complex included the Captain's House, rooms for the garrisons and warehouses, well, oven and other services. The high tower, the keep, with its 30 meters of height still offers a wonderful view of the surroundings today. Towards the internal part of the city, the wall of the tower preserves a fresco depicting the Carraresi chariot and the coat of arms of Padua. Inside the fortress is the Captain's House, the subject of important restoration works which have allowed the discovery of frescoes dating back to the periods of the Carraresi, Malatesta, Sanseverino and Borromeo families. The frescoed room can be visited, in which settings of daily life of the time have been recreated. Today it is home to the IAT tourist office and serves as the entrance to the patrol walkway.

(Translated by Google) The tower is part of the fortifications defending the entrance to Porta Bassano and on its walls is painted the symbol of the Da Carrara family (the chariot..) and the symbol of Padua (the red cross on a white field..). The complex could be isolated from the rest of the city if necessary. It housed the house of the Captain of the Guards (where today the restored frescoes are visible...), quarters for the garrison, bread ovens, almost a sort of castle. Restored, today it also houses the tourist office and is the access to the walkway along the walls. Restaurant
The restaurant Herb offers a delectable brunch that requires advance reservation and a specific request for the brunch menu. Priced at $25, the menu includes a starter course, main entree, and a small bowl of yogurt with granola/fruit. While the main dishes were not photographed, the starters consisting of pancakes and waffles received high praise, with the majority favoring the pancakes. The Avo Salmon toast with spinach & poached egg was enjoyed by all but lacked sufficient sauce.
The location of this restaurant is amazing! It's in the wall of Cittadella. It's so romantic. The service was great, too. The presentation of the plates was beautiful, I was expecting the food to be delicious, but personally, for the octopus I ordered, I'd give it a 6.5. However the service and the atmosphere makes up for that tenfold! Beautiful place to eat at!

Interesting place which proposals are original and tasty. The maritozzo salato was not what I was expecting, but it was very good nevertheless. The pasta, however, was exceptional. A jewel in the Cittadella. Highly recommended.

Brunch was SO delicious. If going for brunch you have to make a reservation and specifically request that you're reserving for brunch otherwise they'll give you a regular lunch menu. The menu is a set price of 25€ for a starter course and main entree, and they also brought a small bowl of yogurt with granola/fruit for each of us. I forgot to take a picture of our main entrees, but the starters were delicious. She got the pancakes and I got the waffles. Both were great but I thought the pancakes were better. For the main dish we each got the Avo Salmon toast with spinach & one poached egg - really tasty though I wish it had just a bit more sauce. Beautiful setting and atmosphere! Highly recommend!

The Bistrot Carraresi offers a pleasant setting for enjoying an aperitif with friends. The service is excellent, with a friendly and welcoming waiter who provides great service. The ambience can be slightly noisy due to the outdoor tables being close to a busy road, but this does not overshadow the overall experience. The Spritz and soft drinks served are of high quality.

(Translated by Google) Super recommended place. As a lover of sweets, I feel like giving breakfasts a solid 10: you can find all flavors and types of brioches (strictly artisanal), for example vegan and gluten-free... one better than the other, you absolutely must try the pistachio one; but also different types of cakes and pastries. As for lunch, you will also be spoiled for choice here: quick lunches with toast, sandwiches and various appetizers or if you have a little more time to stay you can try the à la carte menu made up of first and second courses, sophisticated and varied dishes. Generous portions! Excellent quality/price ratio. The place is always clean and tidy. A special appreciation to the owner Massimo, a true force of nature who makes his work his greatest passion, which he manages to pass on to all the staff! (Original) Locale super consigliato. Porzioni abbondanti! Ottimo rapporto qualità/prezzo. Locale sempre pulito e in ordine. The place is amazing, the staff was really nice even though I don't speak so much Italian so it was really good dinner. They have some craft beer. I drank one Italian IPA and was super good. I also eat good milanesa with fries. I'm really happy . I tried to take a picture, but when I realized I had already eaten all

Happy all around. Had drinks and dinner. The place is located in the centre of Cittadella. Doggies were welcome outside, made themselves comfortable on the San pietrini floor. There was shade and also fans to keep the air cool and circulating; nice music all the time we were there (3 hours) Modern and clean facilities; attentive and accommodating staff. Nestled in a charming Italian city, Pier Cesare Tombolato Stadium offers an intimate and cozy atmosphere for soccer fans. The stadium is known for its affordable beer options, making it a great spot to enjoy the game without breaking the bank. However, if you're planning to catch all the action on the field, it's best to steer clear of the first rows of the grandstand as they can obstruct your view.

Tunde A — Google review
I was here for the Cittadella v SPAL match in Serie B, as an away fan. First the bad points. The stadium could pass for a non-league one in England. It is in a residential area so there are no cafès, shops, fast food stands, etc. nearby. Then the good points. The stewards were extremely friendly & professional, they checked that everyone's I.D. matched the name on the ticket which is an anti-hooliganism regulation in Italy, and also checked everyone's COVID passports. There was a bar open the whole game in the away fans' end selling snacks, coffee/tea and beer. Cittadella is a small place. It is a short walk from the town centre or the train station to the ground, and there is a large car park for away fans right next to the away fans' entrance. The game was a turgid 0-0 draw but that's not really the fault of the people who run the stadium!

Small and cosy stadium. Beer at fair price. Just avoid the first rows of the grandstand, they are too low to watch the match perfectly.

(Translated by Google) We've been customers for years, and this year they're charging for sunbeds in addition to the entrance fee (the prices are still displayed on a leaflet at the entrance). For half a day, it's prohibitively expensive for most families, considering it's a public pool. The small pool (the children's pool) is very cloudy with a lot of suspended solids. The large outdoor pool is better. Lifeguards are always present. The garden is well-kept. I've heard several people complain about the price increase.

(Translated by Google) I discovered this place by chance, after seeing it from the street. A very welcoming and rustic location with posters and other thoughtful details. Very efficient service; the staff are very kind and courteous. The food was very inviting and delicious; I ordered the 300 Special, highly recommended! The craft beer was really good. The price was fair, and they even offered a free liqueur. Definitely worth returning! (Translated by Google) Sorry to say but slow and unprofessional. I had table service, after 20 minutes of the order not arriving I looked at the cafeteria station and the order was still there, needless to say that the cappuccino and latte macchiato arrived cold. I go there to get the tray myself, the Nutella muffin was missing, which wasn't there. He offers me a chocolate muffin. After 5 minutes they bring out the Nutella ones on the counter. What's the point? This is my husband's breakfast instead. In my opinion, made with little desire and thrown out there not to mention the bacon which is non-existent, nothing to do with the image they show you of the product. Very disappointed. Molto deluso.

Meanwhile, at stand 1 they were also taking the cars that were behind me. I told the guys at stand 1 to tell them I was there too, but they rightly started laughing. I felt like I was being made fun of. The guys were laughing at me, and at that point I started honking, and then they finally deigned to answer me too. I understand that maybe there weren't many of them, but you have to respect the line. I definitely wasn't made fun of by the guys' cars! Lack of professionalism and organization! Never again. Castelfranco is better! Italian restaurant
Nestled in the heart of the city, Trattoria Alla Nave is a charming family-run eatery that has been delighting patrons for an impressive 150 years. This quaint spot may not boast a flashy exterior, but its rustic ambiance and warm fireplace create an inviting atmosphere perfect for enjoying authentic Venetian cuisine. The experience here is unique; there’s no printed menu or wine list—your friendly waitress will guide you through the day's offerings, ensuring you savor every bite of their traditional dishes.
Can’t say enough about how delighted we were to have dinner here. What a special treat eating in a family establishment that has been around for so long. We asked the waitress for her recommendations, and so enjoyed the dinner. Loved how there is no written menu. Please don’t pass this up if you have the opportunity to go there. Super friendly staff.

Easily the best food I have experienced on my trip to Italy. Amazing people work here. Also a great selection of liquors.

Highly recommended very small family restaurant existing for 150 years and does not look fancy at all. They do not have a menu or a wine list. The waitress tells you the food. The wine is more complicated because they have a very special wine cellar with rare wines but you have to ask for it. Otherwise you will not find it out. Price is unbeatable. You get a good meal for a low price. Do not worry about not seeing the price you will be satisfied. I suggest you to try the local speciality: horse. They always have this and it is very typical for the region and hard to find nowadays.

Sushi restaurant
Nestled just outside the medieval walls of Cittadella, Jadore Sushi Restaurant is a delightful haven for sushi enthusiasts. This charming eatery beautifully blends traditional Japanese flavors with a contemporary ambiance, creating an inviting atmosphere that feels both intimate and modern. The talented Chef Sousa Maurillo crafts exquisite dishes right before your eyes in the main dining area, ensuring that every meal is not only delicious but also visually captivating.
Wonderful Japanese food experience in Italy. The quality and taste is same like in Japan! Highly recommended!

(Translated by Google) If you are looking for a restaurant where you can eat excellent sushi, Jadore will definitely be for you. Forget about all-you-can-eat restaurants where the raw materials are of questionable quality, here at Jadore every ingredient is expertly selected and combined to give you a truly unforgettable tasting experience. Shall we then talk about the wines? The staff will be able to suggest the best wines to pair with your order, listing the organoleptic characteristics of the wines offered down to the smallest detail. Dishes expertly prepared by the two chefs, who will prepare them before your eyes and which in a few minutes you can savor with your sight and taste buds: in addition to the classic Japanese preparations, there are also new fish combinations that will leave you pleasantly amazed. To end your tasting experience in style, there are desserts by Pasticceria Marisa, a guarantee of quality, taste and beauty. Truly very beautiful and quite intimate environment, staff more than available to fulfill any of your requests and answer your questions. Unfortunately I only give four stars as my tasting experience was heavily ruined by a nearby table which was noisy in an annoying way to say the least, so much so that it was almost impossible to conduct a discussion without raising my voice in turn, on the other hand we were able to listen to every type of discussion of the nearest table, more suitable for a tavern (with all due respect to taverns) than for such a beautiful restaurant, I think that a firm request to tone down would have helped all guests to enjoy a worthy tasting experience of note. Bill commensurate with the quality of the food and wines, certainly not all you can eat, but definitely in line with the type of restaurant.
