Blakemere Village, located in Northwich, Cheshire, is a charming cluster of independent boutiques set around an Edwardian stable block. Visitors can explore a variety of shops offering everything from giftware to fashion and antiques. The village also features a restaurant, falconry center, archery activities, and Segway rides for entertainment. Nearby amenities in the village of Sandiway include shops, a Post Office, and pubs.
A great place to visit. I loved the antiques units. There was so much variety. Some really nice little boutique shops too. Had a nice lunch in the restaurant where the staff were lovely. I'll be going back again now I know what's there

A good place to go for a day out. Entrance and parking are free. There's a small children's fair with rides at about £3.00 each. Playground, walks and play areas. It's a good place for crafters and browsing for antiques. There are a few places to eat and dogs are allowed on a lead. There are plenty of other interesting activities too, best to check out their website.

In December evening, we went to the Christmas Magical Wonderland. I would recommend wearing walking boots or wellies on your feet. It was filled with Magical Entertainment, with the lights, interactive characters, and everyone we came into contact with were amazing. We were skipping through the woods at one point and you can’t help but be captivated by it all. We went to the Birds of Prey and it was my first experience having an owl perched on my arm. The gentleman in charge of the Birds of Prey’s was extremely experienced & knowledgeable, and put me at ease. The whole evening was worth it and I can’t recommend enough. They certainly make it a Magical Wonderland.

Great place for a visit, loads to do for the children but amusements, falconry, mini train, Halloween walk plus others were closed early October. All seemed to still being set up, but when they are open it looks like it will be a great day/evening out. There's plenty for adults as well various shops but also a restaurant and a separate brewery/bar.

Great place, visited for the military vehicle show. Very friendly staff in the shops and a lovely ice-cream/sweet shop.

Great place, free parking , lots to do
Shimon B — Google review
I like it here, you can go by yoursekf and browese around or with the fakily like taking the kids on the train ride or to the many events such as for Christmas or fireworks. There is usually a nice little fsir there and yea its expensive but sometimes its just what the kids want to do and were else do you find these things, there only little once. The shops sell everything from art to antiques and its nice to see these sort of places still thrivingnand beating the mass produced stuff on thr Internet.

We recently visited the Magical Woodland for the Halloween night. It was fantastic, our daughter loved it! There was plenty to see, and the characters were excellent. There was also plenty of food options at the end.

Go Ape Delamere offers an exhilarating treetop adventure in the heart of the forest. Visitors can explore the canopy via a thrilling rope course, with options for both young children and older participants. The Treetop Adventure is perfect for those over 1m tall, while the more challenging Treetop Adventure Plus is designed for those over 1.2m and above 6 years old. This experience includes suspended obstacles, higher platforms, and longer zip-lines.
We had a fabulous fun morning at Go Ape. We did the Tree Top adventure plus and loved it! Our group had a mixed of abilities and the team helped when my son was nervous, encouraging and offering the option to get off and to have another go. Even despite the rainy weather this did not stop the fun or the adventure, my youngest is already asking to go back!
Helen B — Google review
Good experience as a family. We all followed instructions and found it a good experience. 5yr old needed help with all the clips as he was too short, would recommend for 6+ or taller child. Nearly 9yr old enjoyed the two treetop adventure routes and the treetop adventure plus route. But needed the toilet as there was a lot of waiting round. The induction/setup was fine. Two children went up in front of us with adults watching but then got too scared to move so staff needed to climb past to help. There should be a recommendation that the first climb should be supervised by an adult on the course, not from the ground.

Booked for my teen daughter & her friend to go to a sundown session and they had a fantastic time. The staff are always great and today was no exception. Friendly, helpful and always ready to chat, we even had good weather! Would highly recommend.

The family did the after sunset adventure. It was brilliant. The staff were really patient, friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend.

Excellent experience from start to finish. Staff were all friendly and welcoming. Safety instructions were delivered with knowledge and precision. The course was great fun, and the overall experience was brilliant!! Staff even recommended other courses to try on my future travels! I would definitely do Go Ape again!
Stewart W — Google review
We visited for the sundown adventure and although the kids enjoyed it I do think more supervision is needed. The staff were congregated in one area chatting rather than spread out supervising. There were no staff in the center, looking up supervising. I was also surprised there were no staff whatsoever at any of the podiums up in the trees to assist quickly incase of an emergency or if any one needed help etc. There wasn't one staff member up on the course to supervised which I found strange. The safety briefing I barely understood, so I doubt children have an easy time comprehending it. It was an audio played aloud and the instructions weren't very clear whatsoever. The audio was playing as the member of staff would also speak so it was hard to keep up, would make more sense for the staff to explain clearly rather than an audio recording. It was very over priced for the time you got. Also, a certain staff member could be quite pushy. Helpful encouragement is one thing but sometimes that boundary was crossed and it became pushy. He was probably unaware of this but is worth noting. Definitely safety was a big issue and concern due to the lack of supervision and staff presence throughout the course both on the ground and up on the course.

Great place , walked through the forest ( got lost 😂😂) but made it more fun , kids enjoyed the gruffalo trail followed by a ice cream at the cafe onsite 👍👍👍

Nestled within the charming Weaver Vale Garden Centre, visitors can enjoy a delightful coffee shop experience surrounded by lush greenery and outdoor seating. This garden centre is not just about plants; it offers an impressive selection of flowers, shrubs, trees, and essential gardening tools. The café serves up delicious housemade meals with plenty of gluten-free options to satisfy every palate. Guests rave about the mushroom soup and hearty breakfasts available at reasonable prices during early bird hours.
We always enjoy coming here for lunch, the food is always delicious and the gluten free options are great. The mushroom soup was delicious. Lots of options for seeds to plant, especially vegetables. Prices vary in brand and pack size, we got lots of packets for £1.50 each. Can't wait to start planting in March

Visited over the bank holiday weekend and found the café struggling under unfortunate circumstances. The drinks chiller was out of order (room temp drinks - clearly struggling), and with no chef available, the wait staff were doing their best to cover basic food prep. Mainly cold sandwiches, chips, cakes, and hot drinks. We asked for buttered bread to make our own chip butty, but were surprised to be charged £1.00 per slice. For what was essentially plain bread, that felt excessive. Possibly even more than a portion of toast. That said, the staff were genuinely lovely. Despite the clear pressures of the day, they were attentive, polite, and patient. The cashier, in particular, was handling a stream of questions and orders with professionalism, even though it looked like there were plenty of staff present. All in all, a disappointing visit in terms of food and pricing, but full credit to the team for keeping things going with a positive attitude.

Went 2 weeks ago at 3-50pm ,staff were all chatting in the back. Took approximately 5 minutes for someone to come and serve me and a friend. We asked if there was any scones with cream and jam .told there was not any ,( these could have been done as done not close until 5pm .)was told we could have the scones with cream in a jar and buy the extra jam pots .we bought these as wanted them but at extra cost .the young girl that served looked like she couldn't be bothered, no eye contact and very matter of fact and appeared to be rude ,was quite surprised as always been pleasant in previous visits .

We went to this place arriving at 11.25 am and the breakfast board was displayed at the door till 11.30. I asked for two breakfasts to be informed they had finished serving. I suggested that they therefore should have removed the menu and changed the finish time. The young lady on the till was apologetic, then a sour faced young waitress with a pny tail and attitude, told my wife that we should come earlier. Last time for us as Wetherspoons is far better food and service and cheaper. E.g.small custard tart £3.25. Disgusting. Avoid at all costs.

I called in at the garden centre today as I needed 2 trellis....I couldn't see one of the sizes a young lady at the till said they had 4 of the size I needed ....so a your man helped me look he found them but they were on a display!!!.. he went out of his way to ask a manager if I could buy on if them and he got me a discount as it had been on a display..then an older man came and help get the trellis off the display..sorry I didn't get there names... Great customer service really big thanks to these 3 staff members.. very happy customer... Many thanks Sue Brazendale

The Village Restaurant & Coffee Bar is a charming eatery located in the heart of Manchester, offering a variety of inspiring menu choices for vegetarians and vegans. The restaurant takes its name from the year the Vegetarian Society was established in Altrincham. Guests can expect a warm welcome and professional service from the staff, although some may find the attentiveness of the waiting staff to be slightly overwhelming. Despite this, visitors rave about the delicious food, particularly highlighting the exceptional cauliflower cheese.
Went as a large group of 18 seniors at beginning of summer holidays for lunch.. We all had a set two course menu of a roast and apple crumble. Couldn’t fault food and service. Food was tasty, hot, and plentiful. A shout out for Lottie our waitress who was brilliant and understood that some people had special requests. We will be back again.

Average. The burger looked nice and was ok tasting. Unfortunately there wasn’t any of the delicious honey roasted carrots or red cabbage, otherwise I would have had the roast. The loaded fries weren’t nice just would not recommend. The home cooked chips on the burger however were very nice. Went two weekends ago and the food was much nicer than this time round
April C — Google review
Lovely welcome from a very professional & polite gentleman. The rest of the waiting staff hovered, watching, almost waiting to swoop in & they did as soon as my son put his knife & fork down, his plate was taken...we were still eating & he hadn't finished. I think they were trying to look busy, but it was uncomfortable being 'watched' & we felt rushed. The food was lovely though, the best cauliflower cheese I've ever had!
Rachael L — Google review
Terrible attitude from staff, charged us for a different meal than what we ordered. Tried to query it but they we’re trying to say that is what I ordered but i can assure you it wasn’t, overcharged by £8 for no fault of my own, rather than getting the menu I ordered from to show her what I actually ordered she come stomping out with the £8. Very unpleasant, and no sorry just walked off. No customer service skills whatsoever, won’t be returning at all, food was overpriced at the price I expected to pay never mind the extra £8 they charged me. Won’t be returning.

We stumbled on this place accidentally while visiting Cheshire Outdoors and initially just popped in for coffee to warm up. Once we saw how great the menu was for dietary needs we couldn't resist trying lunch and it didn't disappoint. Excellent service, friendly and helpful staff, good understanding of gluten free food requirements & food prep which was really reassuring. Food reasonably priced. 5 of us had drink each plus either a light bite (sandwich, jacket) plus fries and water and the bill equated to £12 each which wasn't bad at all. Toilets easy to find & clean. Appeared families happy as well as couples.
Cathy H — Google review
All the meals were cold, and could tell were from frozen. My daughters spaghetti meal came out still in the shape of the carton it was in from frozen. I ordered a bbq chicken wrap, which came with no bbq sauce. We had two lattes which were barely warm. 1 member of staff was quite rude, and blunt and clothing covered in stains. Such a shame because all the other staff were young people, and were very polite, helpful and approachable all working very hard.
Ava S — Google review
The service was fine and friendly, but unfortunately the food prices and quality left me quite unhappy. First off, we paid £8 for a cold coffee with syrup - £2 for the syrup, which could barely be tasted. Starbucks is cheaper. Well presented, but the ciabatta with garlic butter was dry and crispy. Salt and pepper fries were bland and tasteless. It mattered more because it was so damn expensive.
Bucky — Google review
Overpriced and very poor coffee. Tuna sandwich was basic and small. Americano was gritty and watery. We were given a tiny jug of milk, I asked for more and the girl returned with a giant jug of milk. Felt like she was being funny. Staff abrupt. I won't be returning next time I'm at Blakemere

If you're looking for a delightful culinary experience, look no further than Define Food & Wine. This charming venue offers an eclectic atmosphere that perfectly complements its themed dinner nights featuring visiting wine experts. The ambiance is enhanced by stunning views through the glass roof, making it an ideal spot to enjoy a meal while watching the sunset. The menu boasts a variety of small plates and tapas-style dishes that pair beautifully with their extensive selection of wines.
I had my first experience tonight an it was flawless. The atmosphere is so relaxing and staff were exceptional from start to finish. The choice of wine is one of the best in Cheshire and the quality of the dishes is absolutely perfect. We had around 8 dishes between us and the taste & flavours were amazing. I would highly recommend the duck breast with braised leak and honey jus. Thank you to all and I look forward to my next visit!

Had an evening meal here. The food is delicious. We shared 3 starters - all were excellent and super tasty. We also had a main course each I had the pork and my husband had steak both were excellent. The main course is small but again full of flavour. I also had a dessert which was absolutely delicious. The service was excellent, staff were friendly and attentive. A real treat.

The venue is wonderful; we were lucky to have a gorgeous sunset, which we could see through the glass roof. The food was excellent, and the customer service was incredible! There is a huge variety of great wine, so choosing the right one can be tough. The staff, however, was very patient and walked us through the options. In the end, we were very happy with the wines (and food) we tried. Also good prices in the shop, so I also bought a white wine when leaving the restaurant, really great options! We ate plenty, drank more than enough (😄) and were very satisfied at the end of the night while spending only £40 pp. Can't recommend enough!

This place is like a tardis, looks small from outside but really opens in up inside. Shelves upon shelves of every wine you can think of, gorgeous food stuffs, truffles, preserves, pasta etc, deli counter and a dining area. The food was lovely, small plates/tapas style. You can order wines by the glass in different measures to try a good range. Really lovely if you're into your wine and look forward to going back at Xmas time for plenty of stocking fillers.

Luxury wine bar with “tapas” style menu. Fantastic choice of wines. Clean functional dining area. Difficult to classify but fun dining.
Keith D — Google review
We had a lovely evening and there were definitely some highlights, as well as a few areas that could be improved. The artisan bread with olive oil and balsamic was excellent, and the hummus was tasty , though a drizzle of olive oil and a touch of sumac would have lifted it even more. The prawns were cooked perfectly with a delicious sauce. The beetroot and pear carpaccio had good flavours, but the beetroot would have been better sliced more thinly, and it could have used a little more acidity ;some citrus slices would have complemented it beautifully. The chorizo sauce was unfortunately far too salty, making it difficult to enjoy. The scallops, on the other hand, were cooked to perfection and paired well with the sauce. The arancini were absolutely wonderful; crispy outside, soft and flavoursome inside and as a goat’s cheese lover, I particularly enjoyed them. That said, they too would have benefited from a touch of acidity, perhaps with a simple tomato sauce on the side or as a base. The rainbow trout was well cooked, but the cavolo nero garnish was overly greasy and difficult to eat. A lighter side, such as a lemon-zest potato salad, or just blanched greens would have balanced the dish much better. The oil pooling on the plate was a little off-putting, though the sauce itself had potential – a lift with garlic and citrus would really have taken it to the next level. For dessert, we tried the crème brûlée and the pear tarte tatin. The tarte tatin had a nice flavour, but the pear was chopped into very small pieces – serving it with larger slices or half a poached red pear would have looked and tasted more refined. The brûlée unfortunately fell short of expectations; it lacked the richness of egg yolks and tasted more like plain cream than the classic French dessert. Overall, there were some excellent moments and a few dishes that truly stood out, but also several areas where refinement could elevate the experience considerably.

Nestled in a charming locale, The Lodge is a quintessential British pub that perfectly blends the warmth of traditional hospitality with modern comforts. Known for its extensive menu featuring grills and global comfort food, it has quickly become a favorite spot for many locals and visitors alike. With ample parking and an expansive beer garden equipped with large screens for sports enthusiasts, it's an ideal place to unwind. Families will appreciate the spacious outdoor play area, making it perfect for outings with children.
Great pub with really friendly staff. The food wasn't great at all, my falafel burger was kind of microwaved and the bread bun had been in the microwave too long, and it went hard. They got the order wrong, but soon sorted it out so it was a great positive experience from the staff. However, such a shame about my food. Unfortunately I wouldn't go back, however, my friend who had the beef, said his was amazing. Again, the serving staff were amazing.

(Recent convert to mash and ordered in order to feed child). Staff all pleasant. Hugh outdoor play area .imagine place mobbed at weekend and ig screen sporting events. Few staff.but all friendly and helpful. Downside for some. Very steep exit to outside so nos suitable for disabled and small children. Toilets also a tight fit but changing facilities at front of venue .disabled ramp.for entrance. In countryside

Called in today after Wife having bloods done at the hospital Ordered a large mixed grill and a chicken and Rib platter. After a little wait it arrived the mixed grill was still sizzling, all the meats were so tender and cooked to perfection. Wife ate her ribs a corn cob and some chips ended up bringing the chicken home as it totally outfaced her. 😂 Great pub great food 5 star

Was waiting for my friend who was in the hospital next door (Victoria hospital ) I had my puppy with me so could not leave her at home , but around the area there’s no where to go so I called in just to get a drink and was greated by 3 blokes sitting drinking I said is the pub dog friendly, he replied No not allowed , I said all I want was a drink from the bar and then I will sit outside No dogs allowed so I turned round and left , there were no staff about about either for me to ask . So if you have dogs don’t bother going as they are not dog friendly, and that’s strange to me me as most places are.

The Lodge used to be such a good pub but we're not sure what happened..... We have visited for a nice lunch yesterday, and I must say it was disappointing, the portion sizes are absolutely ridiculous compared to the portions they gave a few months ago, not to mention the prices are a bit unfair for the portions they give..... We were sat outside, and 3 waitresses brought out the food for the 3 of us which is not an issue, but we asked if we could have some cutlery to our table and they just looked at eachother laughed and said we need to go and get them for ourselves.... NOT once did they ask if everything was okay with our food although they were sat outside at a bench chatting away and having a good time. This is the second disappointing experience we have had and I am sure things can be done to fix these issues...

Abbeywood Estate, Gardens & Wedding Venue is a picturesque estate nestled in the Delamere countryside. The Great Hall, dating back to the 15th century, is surrounded by stunning gardens including a sunken garden, rose garden, and a landscape garden with a stream. The Glasshouse is an enchanting venue for wedding breakfasts with its abundant natural light. Visitors have praised the onsite florist who creates beautiful displays using flowers from the garden.
The drive from the main road to the car park is a little wobbly due to tree roots under road surface. So drive slowly. The place is not usually open on Fridays and Saturdays, so check before you go. The restaurant is excellent. The setting, the food, the staff and the prices all top notch. The gardens are beautiful and make for a great short walk either before or after your meal or drink. There is a children's play area little away from the restaurant.

We had our wedding at Abbeywood in May 2025 and cannot recommend the venue and staff enough! Firstly, the venue is just stunning. We fell in love with Abbeywood due to the gardens and the glasshouse and they looked even better than we imagined on the day! We had so many compliments from our guests about how beautiful and spacious the grounds were. There are so many different areas to host the ceremony and drinks reception you really are spoilt for choice. The flowers are so beautiful and make excellent backdrops for photos. Secondly, the staff on the wedding day were great. Jessica was our wedding coordinator and she was just brilliant. We couldn’t have asked for a more proactive, calm and friendly person to deal with. In the run up to the day and on the wedding day, nothing was too much trouble for Jessica and she was so reliable and organised. The weather forecast was all over the place in the run up to our day and Jessica gave us great advice about how to plan around all weathers and dealt with everything with a smile. We also arranged lots of decor to put out on the wedding morning and the team did a brilliant job of this and made sure we had time to look around and make final checks before all the guests arrived. We had our wedding party stay over in the hotel accommodation with breakfast the morning after the wedding and this was a lovely touch. The Abbeywood team made us feel really at home and didn’t rush us off. The beauty of Abbeywood is that whilst the venue is truly stunning, the atmosphere is relaxed and friendly. Our day was really special and we’re so grateful to Jessica and the team for everyone’s hard work!

Had very tasty lunch, then decided to walk the gardens but ar £6 each thought very over priced. Gardens are small and I think if you have eaten it would be fairer to be allowed into the gardens, even if just the one by the cafe.

We went to the cafe for a family lunch. (Pre-booked afternoon tea). It was a very idyllic setting with a stately charm. The food was delicious and the service excellent.

Day 2

West side of town
For day 2, we recommend exploring the west side side of town. Start the day off with Anderton Boat Lift Visitor Centre, then wind down and take it easy by the time you get to Brio Leisure Northwich Memorial Court. All together, your day would be filled with about 7 hours of non-stop fun.

The Anderton Boat Lift Visitor Centre is a remarkable attraction that showcases Victorian engineering ingenuity. It offers boat trips through a working hydraulic lift, providing visitors with the opportunity to witness this historic feat in action. The site features wheelchair accessibility and accommodations for hearing and visually impaired guests. Additionally, there is an onsite coffee shop, picnic areas, and a nearby play area for younger visitors. The facility also houses an intriguing exhibition about its history.
You have to pay for parking but the price is very reasonable, when I went was £3 all day. The visitor center is free to enter and food and drinks are available at extra cost. There are boat trips available however the Boat Lift wasn't working. As well as the visitor centre and boat lift there are nice walks along the Trent & Mersey canal as well as the Country Park.

Amazing place to visit. Very intresting, cafe is very reasonable priced, although the coffee could be a bit stronger. 3£ for parking and 5£ for the guided tour. Well worth it. Allso great first a picnic. The tour guide (Mike) was brilliant and full of knowledge.

A very interesting place to visit, very informal and friendly staff. The lift itself is magnificent. Something I’ve always heard of but never visited until now. Lots of walks to do, stunning well kept gardens, plenty for children to do. Very reasonable priced car parking. Definitely worth visiting

Impressed with the layout & especially the interactivity for children. Although this is a great piece of history. It is also a great day out with river walks, canal walks, boat rides countryside & woodland walks. Large carpark. Easy access even for a motorhome (well upto 7m any way) sadly no overnight parking to extend your stay to enjoy the nearby pubs. Definitely worth a visit and next time we'll bring the grandkids.

So interesting. Another unique piece of history. Such clever engineering. You need to have a head for heights, though, if you take a thoroughly worthwhile and inexpensive guided tour. We were lucky enough to see the caissons ascending and descending.

We took our grandson here for a couple of hours, he loved playing the old penny slots in the visitor centre and walking around the centre learning about the boat lift. We also took a boat trip which was very informative as well as enjoyable
Gill S — Google review
A wonderful day out with a fascinating history. Surprising amount of stuff to do and see, but the most enjoyable element has to be the River Cruise. A bargain price for over an hour's worth of history and commentary by some of the industry's finest. 4 stars simply because the Boat Lift itself is currently not operational for various reasons, best to ensure this is not the case when you visit.

Lovely day glad I got there early as later on about couple of hundred bikers turned up and took over the carpark! Very informative visitor centre fantastic piece of Victorian engineering plenty of places outside for a picnic or go inside and try the lovely cafe and friendly staff!

Nature & Parks
Parks
Marbury Country Park is a picturesque destination with ancient woodlands, streams, and open spaces. The park offers various attractions such as lime avenues, an arboretum, a dragonfly pool, and a play area for children. It is part of the Northwich Woodlands and provides accessible paths for families and cyclists to explore the 350 hectares of parkland. Visitors can enjoy walking through the woods to Budworth Lake or birdwatching in the hide while their dogs roam freely.
Made my first visit here recently on a snow covered winter's day and it was wonderful. Plenty of paths to explore on a relaxing walk and places to observe the local birds and squirrels. Parking was reasonable and there were a decent number of spaces. It is also very close to the canal if you would like to extend your walk and to the Anderton Nature Reserve. Can't wait to go back at different times of year, I'm particularly looking forward to spring and autumn. I foresee that it would be very busy on a weekend in the summer.
Jim R — Google review
It's a fantastic park with something for everyone! The area is huge and well-maintained. There's a lovely playground for children, picnic areas with barbecue facilities for families, and clean toilets that are free to use. Parking is reasonably priced—£1.50 for 2 hours and £2.50 for a longer stay. One of the highlights is the large lake with beautiful views, perfect for a relaxing walk or just enjoying nature. Highly recommended for a day out with family or friends
Mojtaba — Google review
I recently visited this country park and was struck by its serene and tranquil atmosphere. The moment I stepped in, I felt an immediate sense of calm, away from the noise and busyness of daily life. The park is beautifully maintained, with lush greenery, peaceful walking paths, and quiet corners perfect for simply sitting and soaking in the natural surroundings. The gentle sounds of birdsong and rustling leaves made it feel like a true retreat into nature. It’s the kind of place where you can take a slow stroll, reflect, or just breathe deeply and unwind. If you’re looking for a peaceful escape to recharge and reconnect with nature, this park is an excellent choice.
Kelechi I — Google review
Walk here lots clean and tidy well looked after and a good place to have the dogs off lead. The only thing to be aware of is during spring and summer there are cows in the middle fields so you'll need to keep dogs under control if letting them off.
Debbie D — Google review
First time visiting and what a great place this is. It has everything you'd need with some great walking routes to suit all ages and fitness levels. It was also perfect for our dog. Will definitely visit again when in the area.
Andrew B — Google review
A beautiful park for a walk in the sunshine. Woodland, lake, open parkland and a children’s play area, there’s something here for everyone.
E T — Google review
We go to MARBURY about three times a week. Parking is £1.50 for 3 hours or £2.50 for 8 hours and car park closes at 8pm. Now we do dog agility here for fun and we often go down into the woods and I’m on an electric wheelchair and it is a slope and you have to be confident steering as you could quite easily end up in the mere bit but you can go round the opposite way and avoid this and come back through the woods and paths. There is hogweed this time of the year and green blue algae in the meet so no paddling for humans or dogs. There are streams further on. There is a lot of picnic tables to use and bbq places and we stayed over camping with the festival and went to the lido swimming which they have non member hours as well. Love this park. There is a ranger but hardly ever see him in his office and don’t think they are there at the weekend. This place could be so much better with a cafe and more interactive maps that are around the park talking about fruit plants and spices if animals and the history and a map of the old site so you could see where things are.
Karen W — Google review
We came here for a picnic with our Squirrel Scout group and it is a lovely place. A nice walk through the woods, past the lake and through the field. The picnic area is covered but open so we were able to comfortable eat or picnic outside despite the rain. The playground looks good but we were unable to use it because of the weather.

Lovely little shopping arcade. We had a coffee with the dogs at the Bear coffee shop. A must when you visit the coffee and cake is delicious 😋. The people are so friendly. With having dogs we stopped and chatted to lots of lovely people on our walk round.

Shops that are open are good, just a couple of empty units. The outdoor art work is fantastic ended up acting like a real tourist and photoed all of them. Good that it leads you into the town too so local businesses get a look in too. Will be back!

Barons Quay mystery The area that Barons Quay is ideally located in the centre of Northwich town centre, the area has been well designed and the buildings and grounds very well thought out but the problem still remains of the amount of empty units still available, if filled whether it be high street chain stores or not the area would thrive, personally speaking let's give some of the local talented people of Northwich a chance to showcase their talents and make good use of these vacated premises, it's time to buck the trend of empty high streets and let the local area thrive

Plenty of shops open, clean and busy. Pedestrian area so happy to walk the dog.
Dr M — Google review
Looks lovely and great potential.... but only a couple of shops so far. If and when more arrive, should be a great shopping venue. Wildwood looks amazing. But only 1 vegetarian option and no vegan options. Longer term Northwich residents lament the closure of the older shops and vibrancy of the town centre. Also the new one way system to direct all traffic past the town centre has increased traffic right back to Hartford! They'll have to do a really good job to overturn local opinion. Update as of May 2018...new "major retailer" promised soon. Can't wait😀.
Jane L — Google review
Large shopping centre on banks of River Mersey. Personally I quite like it although I understand the locals are not happy with it. Like all shopping centres it's struggling for footfall but it has a large free car park and it's riverside location is a bonus.

Initial impression: The leisure centre in Northwich Memorial Court has a clean and fresh atmosphere, resembling a new facility. It offers a comprehensive itinerary with various amenities such as a gym, pool, indoor sports areas, swimming facilities, and an array of classes. Additionally, there is an on-site theater for entertainment purposes. The dining options are pleasingly diverse with food and beverage eat-in facilities available. Convenient and reasonably priced car parking is easily accessible.

A very unpleasant and unwelcome welcome to the gym. Turned up to sign up and met with a hostile receptionist who was unwilling to support or accommodate an induction to the gym or even ask if it was possible. It was understood there was someone on site to support but they could not see me to complete an induction as I had not pre booked. This is disgraceful. For someone who has not been to the gym for a while due to body issues and weight gain who is looking to make a change and start taking health seriously this was a serious knock to confidence. It had left me ready to go, up dressed and ready to start a journey. To now frustrated, upset and disappointed. I understand and agree that inductions need to be completed, and would have understood if there was a delay to this. However to turn someone away when they are already nervous about going and to make what should be a calm and stress free zone into feeling attacked and left disappointed is awful. I have now booked onto an induction and hope that I can make this, due to my busy work schedule I can not always predict my timetable which is why I chose the gym over classes. This had now become a chore rather then what was hoping to be an enjoyable experience. Awful customer service. Hopefully this improves but a horrendous start.

Went for the first time to watch circus of horrors last month. It's a lovely theatre, the staff were friendly and helpful and my view of the stage was great. Service at the bar was surprisingly fast considering how busy they were, and there was plenty of free, well lit parking. I'd definitely go again.

Fish and chips takeaway
The Seafarer Restaurant & Take Away is a delightful spot for anyone craving traditional British fare, especially their renowned fish and chips. This charming establishment offers a variety of options, including burgers, jacket potatoes, salads, and special dishes like scampi and lemon sole goujons. The atmosphere is welcoming thanks to the hardworking and friendly staff who ensure that every customer feels valued. Whether dining in or opting for takeaway, patrons can expect quick service without compromising on quality.
Absolutely delicious fish & chips to take away! We bought two portions from the meal deal....fish, chips & a side. All freshly cooked. My hubby doesn't usually have mushy peas but he said they were the best he'd tasted. Complimented the fish perfectly, with a lovely sweetness.👌 Great value for money at £4.40 per meal.Would definitely recommend.

Sad to say there's a reason why it's empty at teatime. Very disappointing food. Dried-up chips with a rancid after-taste as if some sausages or other cheap meat was cooked in the same fat a long time ago; and oddly-shaped (rectangular) watery cod, all served on cold plates. Left most of it and now I've got indigestion. Bad, bad Seafarer! 🤮 Since then their PR woman contacted me to say the manageress would call me next day to put things right. Still not heard from her despite the PR lady reminding her. Just proves they know they are rubbish and don't care!
Ruthes — Google review
Got home and opened our food to find all chips not cooked properly, raw hard potato and pale chips. Awful and over priced. Get yourself to lucky Pete's in winnington instead. The only reason we ended up here was because others where closed. Save yourself a few quid buy a raw potato from ASDA and eat it like an apple 👍
Jamie P — Google review
Won't be going here again. The chips were cold, fish undercooked and it was tiny! All for £12!! If you want a good chippy then try Lucky Pete's in Winnington and go for the cajun!!

Nice fish and chip shop and restaurant. Also serve jacket potatoes, salads, traditional meals, wraps, special meals such as scampi and goujons of lemon sole. They have a choice of different burgers and cater for vegetarians plus a variety of side dishes. The desert menu has a choice of hot puds and ice cream. Special rates on selected meals at lunchtimes Mon to Sun between 11.30 and 4.30pm. Saver menu all day Tues. Attentive friendly staff and very clean

The three young ladies worked really hard, they were polite in the takeaway and the restaurant. We were served by the young lady in the restaurant. The desert was served by another young lady. They were hardworking, polite and friendly. The takeaway got very busy but they stayed calm and handled every order with a smile and everyone was served. The restaurant was quiet when we first arrived and our meal was served quickly and it was delicious. It got busy and the young waitress handled it extremely well. They may be young but we were very impressed with the standard and professional service that they gave. Well done 👏 to them and the manager who trained them.

I've used this place before, so had no hesitation in using it with friends whilst in the area. Good and varied menu, at reasonable prices. Mostly indoor catering but some outside seating available, subject to weather. Order at the table and be served by the very friendly staff. Service was quick and fresh. I rarely give 5 stars, but this place deserves it for value, staff and service. Low cost parking area very close (behind). Highly recommended.

Zaza Cafe Bar is a delightful spot that truly caters to breakfast lovers, offering an extensive menu that ranges from traditional English and Turkish breakfasts to delicious toasties and bagels. This charming cafe may appear simple at first glance, but it’s a hidden treasure in Northwich. The atmosphere is relaxed, with friendly staff who are always ready to assist you. One standout dish is the Turkish Breakfast, which has garnered rave reviews for its generous portions and high-quality ingredients.
Well it might look a bit on the expensive side by looking at the menu itself but the quantity and quality of the food would make it a good value. Really nice staff, they were really considerate and gave us enough time to choose even when they were busy. Good atmosphere and nice food.

Went for breakfast today very disappointed. Guy who serve us was lovely and polite. Food awful I asked for well done bacon and sausage which I got but I also got rubbery mushrooms and solid fried egg. When I went to pay lady on till never used any manners ( please, thank you) such a shame. I definitely won’t be going back 🤢

Upon first glance it's a bit of a no-frills café, but you do not want to miss this little gem. The service was relaxed, but friendly enough, but the food... my god. Nice food and the staff are all lovely. However I was very unhappy to witness who was seemingly the owner of the cafe berating his employee for speaking her native language whilst she was in the kitchen. He did so right next to our table and quite loudly. I thought this was incredibly inconsiderate towards his employee, who had given us excellent customer service. No matter your policies, having a go at your staff like that is unnecessary! Especially in front of customers. Of course maybe some context was missing but to our table it was not a nice thing to witness. So that’s unfortunately put a damper on the otherwise lovely food.

Pub
Stanley Arms Anderton is a charming pub located along the Trent and Mersey canal, offering picturesque views of the waterway from its gardens and decked terrace. The pub serves a simple yet satisfying menu and prides itself on offering Cask Marque ales. Boaters and walkers frequent this establishment, which even provides moorings for customers arriving by boat. Visitors can enjoy excellent walks along the canal and marvel at the nearby famous boat lift.
Just passing through on a boat. Had myself a dinner and a beer. The meal was excellent, piping hot and cooked to perfection. The waiting staff were very friendly. Professional and helpful. When the meal arrived although there was condiments on the table. I was also asked if I needed anything else. Bar staff were very helpful and welcoming. Service with a smile. There is an ample sized beer garden with a large grassed area to cater for all members of a family including the dogs. Plus a fenced section of the beer garden overlooks the canal so you can have drink and watch the boats float on by. Overall a great visit which made me feel welcome and comfortable. Thank you all at the Stanley Arms. 👍

We visited the Anderton Boat Lift on a sunny Saturday morning (22 Feb) and discovered this gem of a pub just a short stroll across the bridge. We hadn't booked which is always a risk and we hadn't looked at reviews before arriving. We were greeted with a warm smile and asked to choose a seat and they would bring the menus and drinks we just ordered over. We had a table with a view of the large beer garden. Plenty of outdoor seating including some huts with bench seating. Extensive menu choices, light bites, specials and kids menu. We were advised of the soup of the day when handed our menus and any availability issues (one dish). Easy access with a pram & high chairs available. Staff were really friendly, helpful and special shout out to Molly who our five year old took a shine to because she had a name badge and he was practicing his reading. As somewhere we never planned to go, it's taught us to be more adventurous - thoroughly enjoyed our meal which was all cooked fresh and with love. Also, great pricing! Highly recommend the salt & pepper chips!!! Lovely canal side pub and we'll definitely be back! Thanks

From the moment we arrived, the place just "felt right" if you know what I mean! The service couldnt have been better and the food amazing! I had the Chilly Beef with noodles - it came with udon noodles, which I normally dont like, but I couldnt have been more wrong - it was absolutely delicious! My wife had the Braised Lambs Liver which was also gorgeous! For desserts we had Panna Cotta and Strawberry Cheesecake - both really good too! We will definately be back! Cheers Stanley Arms!

We regularly call in here when we are in the area visiting relatives. Today was a really great experience as the food was tremendous, the best steak I've had for a good while. The food is absolutely great value and the decor is really great too. We can't quite understand why this place is never packed to the rafters, a real little gem in our view. The young lad who served us today was really helpful and friendly. A great place 👍

The welcoming staff, led by the genuine owner Jim and his wife, ensure a delightful dining experience with their warm hospitality. We have visited this very nice restaurant and couple of times and we have been fortunate with the weather so we have been able to eat in the little enclosed courtyard with views over the marina . The owner who I think is called Jim is the most decent and genuine guy you could ever meet and along with his wife they really do pull the stops out for you ! The restaurant looks fabulous and all areas are spotless . We had lunch today I had a cheese Omelette which comes with a nice salad and chips I opted for extra mushroom and the taste and presentation was epic! Elaine had an egg mayonnaise baguette with salad and chips and again a great meal . We asked if we could leave the car and we had a walk down the canal and after an hour we returned for coffee and a cream scone yummy😜Please note ALL food ordered is freshly cooked so non of this frozen pub rubbish . I would highly recommend .

Looks a bit unassuming from the outside, like it isn't a restaurant but don't be put off! The interior is very restaurant style (diamond cut glasses, tables set with linen table cloths) and the first thing you notice is the view! The staff were so welcoming and kind and the food was home cooked, fresh and delicious 😋. I had already started tucking into my stroganoff before remembering to take the picture so it did come out looking better that that 🤣. Only a few benches outside but we got one easily so who cares, we will definitely be back thank you 😊

We absolutely love it here. The food is out of this world, the desserts are so beautifully presented, the service is unbeatable (the hosts are so welcoming) and all with a view of the marina. What's not to love? Highly recommended

Popped in here by chance for a Sunday meal without a reservation and received a warm welcome. The Sunday lunch was tasty and plentiful, with a good selection of vegetables. We then opted for a desert, wow they were delicious. Service, was warm, polite and courteous. Overall a great meal at a reasonable price.

Called in for a coffee after visiting the canal boat office next door. Lovely place and had an amazing scone with jam & cream. Sat outside overlooking the marina. Beautiful sunny day. Lovely experience. Definitely recommend.

Arley Hall & Gardens is a stately 19th-century country home that offers a glimpse into Victorian country living. The hall boasts grand fireplaces, ceilings, and stained glass in an Elizabethan style. The estate features some of Europe's finest gardens, including England's earliest herbaceous borders. Voted among the top 10 in Britain, the gardens are celebrated for their beauty and historical significance.
Very pleasant to walk around the woodland area where we saw rhododendrons, camellia and daffodils in full bloom. The plant fair was on so very busy. There was a large queue to the cafe. Would have been nice to get a coffee outside but looked like everything had sold out. I have a seasonal pass so there quite a lot. Love it there.

This place is absolutely beautiful, the house and the gardens, especially the herbaceous borders which changes through the seasons. Restaurant also serves really tasty food. You have got to visit, house is only open a couple of days a month so best checking their website before you leave if you want to see everything, would highly recommend

Sunday trip to Arley Hall and Gardens, well only Arley Gardens today ( need to check website for when hall open ). Entry to Gardens £12 for adult, Car park £3 when Hall open extra £6.50 for adult. Good generous size gardens giving a lovely days walk. Not very crowded on our visit either, easy to find as well sign posted. Dogs on lead friendly and good for wheel chair users. Some plants little drab due to weeks of sun but still nice, fish garden had no fish and was dried up. There's a nice cafe on site and a small gift shop and toilets. There's also a picnic area, a small chaple and children's play area.
Darren C — Google review
What an amazing treasure of a place. The gardens were absolutely outstanding, and my mum, who is 84, could walk around them all easily. The tulips wete magnificent, and the different fragrant plants lent another dimension to our enjoyment. I will definitely be revisiting in another season to see how the gardens change throughout the year.
Alison W — Google review
Arley Hall & Gardens is, without a doubt, one of the most beautiful and welcoming places to spend a day. The gardens are simply breathtaking – every path leads you to something new, from perfectly kept lawns to bursts of colour in the flower borders, and tranquil corners where you can just stop and take it all in. The mix of formal and informal planting creates a wonderful atmosphere, and you can tell how much care and attention goes into every detail. The historic hall itself is a treat to explore, with so much character and charm, and the friendly staff are always happy to share their knowledge. It’s a place where history feels alive, yet the whole estate is so family-friendly and relaxed. For families, the playground is fantastic – plenty to keep the children entertained and safe, while parents can enjoy the surroundings. There’s lots of space for picnics, or you can pop into the café for something tasty – everything we tried was fresh and delicious. What I really love is that no matter the season, Arley Hall & Gardens has something to offer. Whether it’s spring blossoms, summer blooms, autumn colours, or frosty winter beauty, it’s always worth a visit. It’s one of those rare places where you can visit time and time again and still find new things to enjoy. A truly special place – highly recommended for anyone who loves gardens, history, and a day out that leaves you feeling refreshed and inspired.

We went to this site for a classic car meet with our 73 beetle. The place was amazing with spectacular views, not to mention the overwhelming array of classic vehicles. We plan to return when next the venue hosts classics again. But I would still recommend a visit at any other time.
Bryn J — Google review
Absolutely beautiful gardens that just seem to go on forever, excellent to walk round after visiting the hall itself. Onsite restaurant/cafe and a gift shop. Also a good plant nursery with plants for sale.
Graham A — Google review
Arley Hall and gardens is definitely well worth a visit. It's not too expensive and the people in the 'hall' are really friendly, they appear to enjoy being there and chatting to visitors, in fact they love to give you lots of information on everything in there. The gardens are spectacular and vast, we kept on thinking we'd finished and then there'd be another garden. The restaurant leaves a bit to be desired unfortunately. We had the homemade chilli with rice and nachos, I had a glass of wine and my husband had a small bottle of Peroni, it came to £36 which was pretty extortionate for the standard of meal we were served. If the food had been better, and cheaper then I would've given 5 stars.

Visitors rave about the knowledgeable staff who are always ready to provide expert advice on everything from choosing the right plants to creating stunning hanging baskets. Best plants in the area, very knowledgeable and helpful, have been going there for years. Always a really good choice and reasonable prices.

Stopped by the nursery and was spoken to quite rudely by an old man working there just for touching a thyme plant. Not a big deal, but the attitude was off-putting. Wouldn’t recommend and definitely won’t be going back to buy anything.
Ilnaz B — Google review
Extraordinarily well stocked with quality plants, well worth a visit. Be aware it's a proper nursery and not a garden centre, so don't go expecting to find a coffee shop!

I went to marbury hall nurseries to get some hanging baskets thought they had sold out but they were very helpful in telling me which plants to buy which compost to get and how to make the hanging baskets look great. They were very helpful

Wonderful could have stayed for hours ! Beautiful place , an abundance of incredible plants, really good value and lovely knowledgeable staff . I will never shop elsewhere. Thank you
Maggie W — Google review
I’m absolutely shocked and saddened by the treatment I received from a staff member at this garden centre today. While browsing, I gently removed a label from a plant pot to get a better look at the plant height details (because the big stand info didnt specify that detail) only to be loudly shouted at from across the area by a man working there (I think it might be the owner looking at other reviews) He then marched over, snatched it out of my hand, and began scolding me in front of others. I tried to explain why I took the label out but he shouted over me, I told him to forget it and walked away, trying to avoid a scene—but he continued loudly ranting about me to another shopper. When I told him he was acting like the “garden police,” he snapped back with “well go somewhere else then,” and carried on with his rant. I’ve been a loyal customer for years and this used to be my favourite place to shop for plants, but I will never set foot there again while that horrible man is working. It’s incredibly disappointing to be treated with such hostility. Manners cost nothing but bad manners cost you customers. Sadly, they’ve lost another devoted customer.
Lucy H — Google review
Absolutely fantastic nursery, great advice from the employees and the prices are just the best ever. Staff helped us to load the car too, what more can you ask for.
Norman P — Google review
Visited here in late September and fell in love with the atmosphere at once. Staff are helpful. Prices are reasonable. Best part is the healthy and happy plants. Have varieties rare to find in other places. It's been a month and the plants we bought are all growing nicely in our garden and conservatory. I have a feeling that the family owner of this place really gives the best care to the plants. That's why he may look/sound quite protective, e.g. in some reviews, he did not allow people touch the tree, or asked dog owners to keep the leash short. To be honest, when I talked to him in the nursery, I was a bit shocked when being told " all our plants are good" in a rigid tone. I totally understand now as I can imagine he treats the plants like his baby. And I actually appreciate it, esp.for the beautiful plants. Definitely will return and introduce this place to my friends.

Specialty Museums
Located in Northwich, Lion Salt Works is a restored open-pan salt-making site that now serves as an educational museum. It offers visitors a glimpse into the history of salt production and the operation of the Salt Works through interactive exhibits and walkthrough buildings. The museum provides a family-friendly learning experience, making it perfect for a historical day out. Additionally, visitors can explore the Magic of Maps exhibit, which aims to make map-reading an enjoyable adventure for youngsters.
Great museum, nice and small and well laid out. Really helps you understand the industry of the area and the local wildlife. Had no idea it was a national heritage site. Lots of interactive stuff for kids and adults. Very helpful guide/manager, really informative and passionate about the museum.

I've been wanting to go to the salt mine museum for some time and it didn't disappoint. I went on a Wednesday and started with a lovely coffee in the café before starting my walk round. Lifts to all floors for disabled visitors so they can see it all. Well worth a visit and a play area for the kids in the grounds. I walked through the gate onto the canal towpath when I finished and went for a little walk to see the boats.

Visited here for free as part of Heritage Open Days. I had last been here on a primary school trip 44 years previously! I remember back then they sold bottles of Brine for 20p and after watching the guide boil the Brine off to leave salt behind we all thought it was witchcraft & all rushed to buy bottles of Brine! Fast forward to 2025 & the site has changed a little, they now have a purpose built visitors centre with cafe & toilets. Disabled lifts are available to all floors, though the old wooden floors can be quite uneven in places. We went on a guided tour around the site which was interesting.

This is a fantastic place for a small, local museum. It was far more interesting that I had imagined! It is set in a nice location, with a very cute garden to attract butterflies - that is nice for both adults and children. There is also small but fun children's play area outside. There is a comfortable and reasonably priced café, with a proper coffee machine, alongside a small gift shop. The museum itself it more extensive than I had anticipated. The presence of the original industrial equipment gives a true insight into the former salt works in the Northwich and Cheshire area! The museum is interesting for people of all ages. The entrance fee is £7.50 for adults and free for children. Well worth the visit.
Julie S — Google review
Fantastic experience. Well laid out and maintained. Good value too. Would recommend a guided tour if you can. A real piece of English history.
Chris W — Google review
Great museum that covers the history of both the salt works itself and an insight into the history of Cheshire's salt extraction industry. The restoration of the buildings was sympathetically done and the museum has a really nice atmosphere. There's a nice cafe, a shop with related things and a good selection of books. They have quite a good selection of events and kids' workshops, too. Definitely worth a visit.
Iain D — Google review
Bit of dry experience. A big site. Lots of decayed bits inside the building. Didn't have time to do the 2 hour tour which would probably made it more interesting.

Popped into this interesting old pub on my travels. Only had a half which did the job. It’s directly opposite the old Lyon’s salt works. Fairly big inside and well done out. It’s pretty cosy. There’s a games room with a good pool table and darts board. The building probably has a great history but I couldn’t get to the bottom of it on my brief visit. The young lady behind the bar was very friendly and chatty. Dog friendly. The kitchen isn’t up and running as of yet but hopefully will soon. The carpark is big and flat enough for a van stop over but you’ll have to ring ahead as they won’t take anything bigger than a transporter or transit size. I any call again if they let me stay one… 🚐 🍻

Lovely country pub set in the Historic Village of Comberbach. We stayed overnight in our motorhome on a pub stop, and had a great night. The menu was relatively small which made choosing much easier. Cafe
This charming independent garden center, Plumleys Garden Centre, is adored by its patrons. It boasts a diverse plant selection, often sourced locally. The staff are both knowledgeable and amiable, ensuring a pleasant shopping experience. Unlike ubiquitous gift shops, their offerings are unique and of high quality. Additionally, they support local businesses by showcasing their well-crafted sheds and wooden garden accessories like the exquisite auricula theatres. Visitors can enjoy the recently renovated cafe which provides ample seating indoors and outdoors.
Visited yesterday for the second time and once again not disappointed. Once inside there’s a fabulous array of plants & gifts, walk through them venture out to more plants, shrubs, trees and pots. Also a great cafe, we had lunch which was tasty & reasonably priced and staff were friendly & helpful. There’s also a lovely independent boutique, selling ladies clothes, handbags, jewellery, scarfs etc. Owner very friendly and I would say there’s clothes to suit most shapes, sizes & styles and some unusual pieces which I like This garden centre is well worth a visit.

Called in for a break on our way back from holiday in North Wales. Couldn’t have asked for more. Just off the M6. Dog friendly outside covered area for the cafe. We enjoyed a lovely cream tea, bacon bap and the kids enjoyed sausage, chips and beans. All very well cooked and very tasty. Thank you 🙏 😊

We visited this place based on the coffee shop reviews. Unfortunately our experience was very disappointing. The service was very good but we had to order three times due to ingredients being out of stock. We ordered a steak cheese melt sandwich and it was not what we were expecting. A very wet, tasteless sandwich with what appeared to be chopped up braised beef with cheese. My daughter requested ham, egg and chips. The ham was out of stock so pulled pork was offered as an alternative. This didn’t work and was lukewarm. We decided to try the cakes in the hope that they would be good. Sadly equally as disappointing. Rock hard, dry scones and a very dry brownie. We will not be returning.
Debra C — Google review
I like this centre because, unlike the other upmarket monstrosities, it's still QUIET and it still has a good stocklist and variety. Moreover, it's off the beaten track. Furthermore, the staff go the extra mile to be helpful. Rarely do I recommend but,on this, I make the exception. Well done, Plumleys.
ROLAND O — Google review
We visited the 15 June and found it quite run down - not been for a year or so and definitely seen a decline in the place. The cafe was closed when we arrived approximately 3ish but it was Sunday .. A couple commented to us saying not sure what’s happening to the place? What plants were left were not not particularly good to the point we felt they should have been half the price - Disappointed as we used to love visiting over the years ..

It's conveniently located within a few hundred meters from Northwich town center and provides access to various routes of different lengths, suitable for leisurely strolls or longer hikes. The park is perfect for running or walking the dog, with picturesque surroundings along the River Weaver and connections to nearby attractions like Marbury Country Park and Anderton Boat Lift.

A fun short walk especially with the dogs. Lots of open fields for throwing the ball. Parking is a bit of a pain. It's really close to the tip so timing around busy periods especially on the weekend can be a pain. There's lots of good photo opportunities, especially if you are looking for industrial/nature juxtaposition shots.

Some beautiful easy walks around the Mid Cheshire countryside. You can access Carey park within a few hundred metres from Northwich town centre and take a myriad of routes, long or short, ranging from an easy stroll by the River Weaver or a bit further takes you to to Marbury country park, Anderton Boat lift or one of the many salt flashes now home to rare birds and wild life. First time I have been to this park and it was good. Although I didn't see any play facility, it was good for those who want to go for a run or take the dog out for a walk. There is a map you can take a picture of to help get your bearings.
Phill — Google review
An as-long-as-you-want-it-to-be winding walk, with fields, rivers, scrub-land and factories for company. No facilities, but parking is convenient, paths are clear, and most views pleasant.
Gordon B — Google review
It’s a short but pleasant walk. You can take one of two other paths in here too. One will take you to Marbury park, worth a visit too. The other path will take you into Anderton nature park and the boat lift, a famous landmark. Note, all three parks link into the next. You can’t start in one and walk all three parks.
Chris — Google review
A great place to walk. Lots of options and paths to follow either to Anderton past the Winnington works or in the other direction to the Witton flashes and to Marbury Park. Nice wide pathways that are well maintained.

A pleasant space to stroll on the edge of Northwich town centre. The paths are reasonably maintained and well marked. Unfortunately there is a lot of litter close to the entrance.

Clothing store
H&M is a popular chain retailer known for offering trendy clothing, swimwear, accessories, and shoes at affordable prices. The store prides itself on providing high-quality fashion that caters to everyone's style preferences. Customers often find great deals, such as items from the sale rail and special offers like 3 for 2 promotions. Additionally, signing up for their Loyalty points card can provide extra discounts on purchases.
Had a great visit there yesterday. My 12 year old granddaughter who is usually hard to buy for, came away with 9 items, 5 of them from the sale rail. The assistant at the till was extremely helpful by telling us that we'd picked up 2 items which were on a 3 for 2 offer which we hadn't noticed so we were able to get another pair of joggers for free. We also signed up for the Loyalty points card (also told about by the helpful assistant) which gave us 10% off our purchases. Total bill for our shop? £46 !! Delighted.

So great to have another shop in the mostly vacant new development in Northwich. H & M is a great choice and I'm sure will do well for the demographic of the area. Women's, men's & children's wear. Much more spacious and orderly than any other branch I've visited same clothes but something just missing. Think it was atmosphere ...even the music was...well, a bit bland. But I'm sure this will change. Conspicuous lack of mirrors around the store. But fab changing rooms. Think they should have included their home range in this store as it is certainly large enough. Great addition. Hopefully, the first of many to come :)
Jane L — Google review
Offensively hot in store. Made for a shorter, far less enjoyable shopping experience. Couldn't stay and enjoy a browse...certainly unfair on staff! Air con units in store obviously not fit for purpose in such a large store.
Angela C — Google review
Feels like there is never any staff around and they are hard to spot as they don't wear a uniform. You can get some good bargains in the sales section but it is always so messy to look through and is mainly small sizes unfortunately. The change rooms always seem to either be closed or are unattended.
Ash A — Google review
Service was amazing however it is extremely hot inside and I could not stay in there for any longer than 10 minutes.
Macey H — Google review
Apparently purchasing damaged goods from here isn't a good enough reason to exchange for something else, even if their policy does state you can exchange without a receipt, it's all down to to managers decision, which basically just means "No because I said so." Don't expect a refund if you buy anything from here.

Need to space out the rails a bit more in some areas. Not really organised that well either, some of the layout is all over the place. Can find some good deals if you have time to look.

Went to Northwich Matalan for the first time since moving to the area and had a great customer experience. Had issues with scanning the rewards card at the till but the young man on the front was very helpful and set up a physical card for me. Then when I realised I'd ended up without a third item in the 3 for 2 a lovely woman helped to retrieve said item and noticing my baby was upset helped me get to the baby room to feed. Thank you for such a great customer service your kindness made the day so much easier. Apologies for not remembering names. Experience was the morning of 26/2/2025.

Please like my review if helpful👍 Vickers Way park is a truly beautiful and tranquil park a short stroll from the centre of Northwich. It is well laid out with flower beds and really well maintained. There are plenty of facilities such as a bowling green, ping pong table, crazy golf, outdoor gym with all the outdoor exercise equipment you could possibly want and then they are tennis courts and to call it all there is a children's playground. What a gem! Oh and I nearly forgot, there is a shop where you can buy refreshments and with plenty of outdoor seating.

River Island is a popular apparel chain known for its trendy and eye-catching fashions for both adults and children. The store offers a wide variety of on-trend clothing, including activewear, everyday outfits, and dressy clothes. Customers can also find shoes, trainers, handbags, and accessories in addition to the clothing selection. While some customers have praised the excellent customer service at certain branches, others have noted that the staff could be more helpful.
I hadn't been to the Northwich shop before. It was well organised visually and the staff were helpful and friendly.. would travel there again rather than going to the local one.
Donna O — Google review
I bought a watch as a gift and realised when I got home 'the email' receipt was not a receipt and did not state anything about the item purchased. When I returned to the store to ask for a receipt there was no record of the sale and I was told there was nothing they could do about it and I could not have a receipt which was not very helpful as it was a gift. On another note, I think the staff should wear the clothes from River Island and they should not be chewing gum.

Visited on Friday morning clothes are lovely however, very short staffed and the lady with the purple-ish hair was stood there whilst there was a large queue, leaving one person to serve a lot of people. Not sure if she was meant to be serving customers on the till or not but either way it was very unprofessional as she just stood there and did nothing all in all average place to shop

I visited Wildwood restaurant on my own for a meal on a Sunday evening to treat myself. The restaurant was quiet which was what I was looking for and it was 7pm. I ordered Philly cheese steak sandwich and fries topped with truffles and cheese. Really enjoyed my experience and am very impressed. Additional brownie points for Katie who provided me with a great experience with her customer service skills. Katie even made the effort to come over and speak to me which is rare these days. Well done Katie! A Great experience and I’ll definitely come back. I highly recommend if you’re looking for somewhere to go on your own for a little treat.

I just had a lovely meal! The food was top-notch, especially the Double Pepperoni and Vegan Burger, which I rated highly. The service was spot on; I was greeted warmly and the team checked in on me throughout the meal. Everything was spotless, and the atmosphere was just right for a chilled night out. The only thing I’d tweak is the pricing; even with a discount, it felt a bit steep.

First time here today with my son. Ordered the Seafood Pasta for myself which was lovely. My son ordered the double pepperoni pizza off the adults menu which he stated was 'the nicest pizza I've ever had'. Staff were lovely and welcoming. Service charge included which I prefer as I'm not worrying about tips when paying with a card. Really happy to have found this place.

We had a fantastic evening at this restaurant! The food was absolutely spot on, and the drinks were just as good. Noppawan M — Google review
Really disappointed with our visit to the restaurant and wouldn't recommend. We went on a Saturday lunch time and it was pretty empty, which I now can see why. The food was mediocre. The pizza was good and the childrens food. But the pasta was dry and the chicken tasted frozen. The service was slow (seeing as it was quiet). But the staff weren't very helpful and pretty rude. We asked for the mushroom pasta to be spicy, which she said was fine. When we got our bill, we had been charged £1.60 for the chilli to make it spicy! Id understand if we were adding chicken or chorizo etc, but a spice? The server magda, was really rude and argumentative about it. When we explained that we didnt know they would be charging such an amount to make it spicy otherwise we wouldn't (it was making mushroom pasta nearly £20!) Her arguement was that they charge for everything including if we wanted it extra garlicy and that she doesnt need to tell us theres a charge. The manager then tried to say making something spicy, was the same as ordering chips and not thinking you need to pay for them. Definitely not the same thing. Next they will be charging for salt and pepper or the toilet roll in the loo! Wouldn't recommend at all, we wont be returning.
Leanne — Google review
I visited recently and was really impressed! The food was top-notch—I absolutely loved the Penne Arrabbiata. The staff were super friendly and made sure we were enjoying our meal, though I think the service could've been a tad quicker, especially with all the takeaway orders. The atmosphere was great, and everything was clean and well presented. Overall, a solid experience that I’d definitely recommend!

Ordered our food on delivery once before and was great, so thought we’d give it another go and this was the result (see pictures). Very disappointing and underwhelming. Perhaps the chef was having a bad day, but to still send this out to customers is not ok. We paid £68 and couldn’t eat it because everything was so burned it was hard as nails. Only good thing was the orange juice which they probably bought from the local Tesco. Do better.

Scotch egg - Great highly recommended. Aranchini - I was told the was okay but bland. Lamb Kofta - I was told everything barring the lamb was great. The lamb itself was bland and dry. Butcher's block - Meats were okay. Sausage was good, the ribeye was thin and the chicken was surprisingly the best part. - Mac n cheese was disgusting. It was dry and gluey and smelt of gas fumes.. as though the chef wanted to crisp the top but grill (broiler) didn't ignite. Sauce - peppercorn was so bland but the red wine jus was very good n saved the meal. Sticky toffee pudding - 👌

Dinner for four . On the plus side, a few of the dishes were tasty and well made. However the soup was watery and tasteless, and the gravy was terribly salty. The service, being friendly and helpful, was very slow when there weren’t many customers about. Background music a little too loud and too fast a beat, not best for conversations. They did give my son a glass of fizzy and ice cream at the end of his 18th birthday meal, which was appreciated. However, we were hoping for a better experience that we didn’t get this time

Park
Verdin Park is a local park in Northwich that offers a pleasant environment for various activities. The park features improved play areas and beautiful scenery with trees and open spaces, making it ideal for games, kite flying, and morning strolls. While the hilly terrain provides a good workout, the park's well-maintained grounds offer enough shade on sunny days.
Really pleased with the play area. The equipment is new and well made. Plenty of variety. The young ones we took ages 6&10 enjoyed themselves. The grounds are well maintained and on a hot, sunny day there is enough shade.

Please like my review if helpful👍 Verdin park is great for an early morning stroll and to get a bit of exercise. It is quite hilly and needs a little bit of effort in some parts. It is nicely kept and has a nice mix of scenery. There are probably a few more benches needed here and there. The park occupies a commanding position pretty much in the centre of Northwich. A small car park to the front caters for a limited amount of visitors but parking is not too difficult in Northwich anyway. The park hosts a number of events throughout the year. Unfortunately there are no public conveniences in the park and no refreshments.

Verdin Park is our local place. In last year there has been a new path put in and beautiful new playground for the children. I would probably say for children aged 1-7 years old. There is a skate boarding ramp there aswell. Great area for picnic and dog walking. You can get there easy from town or Castle or Winnington. Car park(payed) on the botton of the hill and some on road parking on neighbouring roads for free.

Anderton Nature Park is a lovely local area that forms part of the Mersey Forest. It offers great trails that wind through open grassland and wooded areas, making it accessible to most people. The park features beautiful canalside and riverside walking routes, as well as a charming cafe for visitors to enjoy. However, some visitors have expressed disappointment at the behavior of certain dog walkers who fail to properly dispose of their pets' waste.
Lovely walk with paths through the fields and trees. We were pleasantly surprised finding a lovely stream for the children and dogs to splash around in and cool down the first we went. We've been back a number of times since. Just lovely to come here and also to the boatlift which is on the other side of the large carpark. Great day out super for everyone, adults, children and dogs.
Elena G — Google review
Lovely local area that includes part of Mersey Forest. Great trails that undulate across open grassland or through wooded areas and accessible to most mobile persons. Pity that some dog walkers who actively pick up and bag their animals waste, then choose to throw the bag into the trees, shame on you.
David J — Google review
One of my favourite places to meet up with friends to walk the dogs. Great views of the boat lift and only a short walk away from Marbury Park.
Sian H — Google review
Really nice area with a variety of walking routes (most of which are firm under foot). Well worth crossing the canal into Marbury park and stopping off at the mobile refreshments trailer (their Marbury blend tea is very nice and they do a variety of lunch options and sweet treats). There are public toilets next to the trailer, should you need them. Crossing back over the canal, and following the tow path back to the boat lift car park, results in around a 4.5 mile circular route, but there are opportunities to extend it further, should you want to. Really popular with dog walkers and families.

Lovely place to visit. Great place for a walk. The boat lift a visitors centre is a good place to go visit as well.

Lovely canalside and riverside walking routes and a fab little cafe. What more could you want?

Cracking little place, lovely walk. With paths you can follow to Marbury park, Dutton locks, Carey park and Newmans flashes. You can walk, bike and even take a picnic. Lots of open spaces, woodlands and marsh land to walk through. Some of the walk includes the river or canal too.

Beautiful place, loads of walks close by, canals and rivers to walk along, good selection of target fish to aim for if thats your kinda thing!

Anderton Boat Lift

Historical landmark
The Anderton Boat Lift is a remarkable structure designed to raise boats from one river to another, earning the nickname "Cathedral of the Canals." It was voted Visitor Attraction of the Year in 2018. Families can enjoy witnessing the lift in action and take the Top of the World Tour on the canal system. This historical installation allows boats to pass between River Weaver and a canal, offering a visitor center with interactive displays and a cafe.
One of the most spectacular historic place I ever been in the UK. Great view, the boat trip is an interactive, fun thing, The staff vell prepared, really helpful and kind. I highly recommended it to couples, families with children or elderly. Plenty to see,en ecperiencing.

Visited the Anderton Lift during a weekend coach tour. Unfortunately it was not operational due to maintenance, however, the canal boat ride was very informative and took us right up to the bottom of the lift. There was a good Visitor Centre and cafe and the whole experience was disabled friendly.

Booked in advance to go down the lift. Very friendly staff gave thorough safety briefing. Wonderful feat of engineering maintained for future generations. Long may it continue.

Went for a boat ride on the River Weaver and the boat Captain gave us the full story of ths Salt business in the area over the years. After arriving back at the Boat Lift we were given a full tour by a CRT volunteer. There is also a very good cafe.

Bridge
Town Swing Bridge, also known as the Barons Quay development, is an 80m project named after one of the old salt mines beneath the town. This development aims to bring more shops, restaurants, and job opportunities to the town center. Additionally, it will feature an Odeon cinema. The first phase of this project is anticipated to open late next year.
Absolutely beautiful bridge especially at night. Amazing to take pictures off.

Specialty Museums
Weaver Hall Museum & Workhouse, formerly known as the Salt Museum, is a captivating destination that showcases the history and industry of West Cheshire. Through films, reconstructions, models, and intriguing artifacts, visitors can explore the stories related to market towns, transport, archaeology, and the renowned Cheshire salt industry.
A most welcoming and accommodating venue. Carpark and outdoor seating area. Partially assessable and would not recommend attempting with a mobility scooter as potentially it would be a struggle. However, there is a lift and a wheelchair would be able to fit in the lift ♿ Toilets also available at different levels. Hot drinks available for the visitors. A historical gem, beautifully and compassionately put together. Although not huge, there is lots to see and it was noted that a lot of effort had been put forward to make the younger generation aware of Northwich history and interactive activity put in place in various areas. Lots of seats dotted around and even a small introductory cinema 🎥. I highly recommend this venue for a visit and most reasonable pricing for entry on the day.

Really interesting museum about workhouses and Northwich, nice small cafe and gift shop
Peter D — Google review
First went here 14 years ago with my grandaughter. Today, we took a friend as we have been looking at workhouses. Small museum, as it doubles up as a library. Refreshments on sale, the usual facilities onsite, a gift shop too. Great exhibits about the workhouse and the history of Northwich and the salt industry.
Lynn ( — Google review
I visit the facility for its library. The staff is consistently nice and welcoming. Though it's a small space, it's clean, well-maintained, and always full of pleasant people.
Toobaa K — Google review
Museum telling the story of salt mining. There is a second salt museum north of the town where an actual salt mine exists and where the process of extraction has been recreated. That one is much more interesting on salt. This building used to be a workhouse for the poor and destitute, and it would have been more interesting to visit if it devoted itself to that important aspect of British history. There is a tiny section describing how polythene was invented in Northwich. Such an important material throughout the world surely deserves much more recognition.
Jerry S — Google review
The Weaver Hall Museum and Workhouse - A great old building that celebrates the various industries in Cheshire What is the Weaver Hall Museum and Workhouse? The Weaver Hall Museum and Workhouse is a museum that is located in Northwich, Cheshire. There is a partial workhouse with a museum that emphasises the different industries that played a key role in the lives of people that lived in Cheshire. This included salt making, coal mining, ship-yards, and the Police. This museum holds a number of temporary and permanent exhibitions that take place throughout the year. On the Ground Floor there is a small cinema for an introductory video, temporary exhibition space and the partial workhouse. On the top floor there is the different exhibitions about some of the important industries that played a significant role to the people of Cheshire. Exhibitions Visited All Our Stories This exhibition is an empowering one that highlights the challenges that people face whom have learning disabilities. This group of people held a play. This small exhibition is playful, interactive and engaging. The props on show were lovely and unique. They helped to tell the story. This consisted of Gruel which is old food that has oats. There was also a bowl and spoon. In addition there was a bell to determine the time. There was a dress up corner with a great variety of clothes and hats that you can wear and try on. The material was lovely but it was heavy at the same time. The Workhouse The introductory video in the cinema was good. It gave you a short insight into the lives of people that lived at the workhouse all those years ago. A partial one is still part of this building. It was great knowing that people were segregated based on sex, age and other factors. Learning about school life was interesting. It was cute seeing the letters of the alphabet and the times tables. It gave it a true school vibe. There was also a desk for the headteacher or teacher to stand behind with a old device for writing as pens and pencils were not used at that time. Permanent Exhibitions These exhibitions were informative and inspiring. They celebrated many industries that were significant to the people that lived in Cheshire. I loved how open plan it was where each small area had enough information that was not too much with great pictures that were eye catching. The range of objects relating to industries such as Salt making, Coal mining and the Police were enticing too. It was also great learning about working conditions and pay of the workers at that time. It was great that these industries were explained in different means including art, objects and videos which made the experience an engaging one. Entry and Admission You are not required to book online however you will be required to pay on arrival in order to enter the museum. For pricing details then check out the museum’s website for further information. Facilities The Weaver Hall and Workhouse has a Tea Room with the library. They serve Tea and Coffee with a selection of biscuits. If that is not your thing then there are some cafes nearby. Toilets are on site. Lighting and Access The lighting at this museum was decent throughout most areas apart from the small cinema room downstairs for the video. This allowed me to use all my senses to have a fulfilling experience which also helped to understand the themes and information discussed with the various objects. In relation to access then there is a small step in order to enter the building. There are stairs or a lift to access the exhibitions on the top floor. Parking The Weaver Hall and Workhouse has its own designated car park that also has disabled bays for those whom have a Blue Badge. If you love learning about the workhouse life and the different industries in an informative, interactive and engaging way then come and visit the Weaver Hall and Workhouse for a great day out.

Restaurant
The Bowling Green is a historic pub in Northwich, dating back to 1650 and known for its cottage-style outpost serving British cuisine and drinks. The oldest pub in the area, it has recently been taken over by a company that operates other successful establishments nearby. A major refurbishment is planned to expand the food offering, but currently they are serving posh sandwiches using local produce. Despite some mixed reviews about service, many visitors praise the delicious food and lovely staff.
First visit to the Bowling Green with Family, recommended by a friend. First impressions are, a warm lovely little pub with friendly staff. We had a party of 9 and everyone except myself had a Sunday roast ( Fish&Chips for me ). The food came and the first thing I noticed was the size of the Yorkshire puddings (Massive). Everyone's food came piping hot 🔥. My fish and chips were very nice I enjoyed every bit, again came out piping hot. From the very start the staff were excellent accommodating us all with drinks nothing was any trouble and they were busy on this day being Mothers Day. Everyone really enjoyed the roast dinners, all came with plenty of veg and also cauliflower cheese 😊 and jugs of gravy everyone had a big plate full. I will definitely be returning in the near future. The food and service are both exceptional and the chef in my opinion is very talented and a credit to the Bowling Green.

I go here once a month for The Bowling Green Writers' Group and it is awesome. They have alcohol-free lager on tap, the food is incredible, and the staff are lovely, especially the tall barman in the evenings who goes above and beyond for every customer. There's a great atmosphere and they do live music on Saturdays. Highly recommended as a relaxed, friendly pub. It also has a stunning beer garden!

What a hidden gem Just experienced an absolutely delicious meal, warm and professional hospitality, lovely comfortable atmosphere and surroundings. I’m very happy to have found this beautiful pub and quality eatery. Fresh produce lovingly cooked and served by passionate staff to be proud of. Thank you for making my husband’s and mine a wonderful experience. We will definitely be back soon. My husband said it was the best fish pie he’d had and my vegan Mediterranean pasta in fresh tomato sauce with courgette peppers and aubergines and spinach was absolutely perfect for me. 🙏💕

We have just had the most amazing lunch here. The food is absolutely beautiful and the portions are very generous.( I have half of mine over as a takeaway!) Prices are very reasonable, especially considering it's all fresh, authentic ingredients. The staff are lovely and the interior is so nice. We will definitely be returning.
Susan L — Google review
The food at the bowling green is lovely, the Sunday roast is the best around and the beers are great and obviously very well looked after. The only reason this rating isn’t a 5 is because of the service. I enjoy coming here with my partner and my family, but every time I’m in it does feel as though you shouldn’t be in there. The staff always seem annoyed that you’ve come in to eat and the atmosphere is just off, I understand it’s a stressful industry but it’s rarely busy in there so I cannot understand the irritation when we’re coming in to pay £16+ for a meal. I cannot fault the food or portions I just think if the business could prioritise the customers’ experience this place would be the obvious choice for a Sunday roast and a few pints.

This place never fails. From the attentive staff to the delicious fresh home made food. It's always consistent which is a very rare thing. Last night we enjoyed wonderful Italian style tapas which is generously portioned and absolutely fabulous. They cater for all dietary requirements and are really accommodating. Loads of choice for Gluten Free which is unusual. It's by far the best place to eat in Northwich

Indian restaurant
Indian takeaway
Nestled on Castle Street in Northwich, Relish Tandoori proudly claims the title of the "finest Indian restaurant in Northwich." This culinary gem specializes in a delightful array of Balti and Bangladeshi dishes that are sure to tantalize your taste buds. Signature offerings like Chicken Lava, Akbari Cham Cham, and Gosht Achari showcase their commitment to flavor and authenticity.
I was planning to pop in for a set menu dinner on Sunday and I got surprised with a £11.95 buffet being served as well. I had a quick look at what food was there and decided to give it a go. Once I sat down I received a poppadom and a tray of sauces which were really good. I then headed of for some starters. Samosas were so so but there was also very tasty chicken, some kebab style pieces another starter that I don't know and one of the nicest bhajis I ever had. I regret not having more of them as they quickly disappeared :) I then moved on to mains - there were six available to choose from and I had some saag lamb, chicken tikka and a beef curry. I also saw a veg curry and khorma but I'm not a big fan of the mild ones so I haven't tried. Curries were really nice and a member of staff also asked if I would like a naan and I asked for a garlic one (I assumed that they are extra but it was included in the price). There were spiced potatoes with spinach, rice and other side dish available. The curries were really nice and I saw the staff members top up the starters few times while I was there. One of the curries got replaced with a different one when it was getting empty and it was a surprisingly hot, very tasty chicken curry. The food was enjoyable, members of the staff were kind and attentive. For that price it's definitely worth giving it a go and the guys deserved their tip. Well done!

We were travelling through and stopped in on a busy night with no booking. We were swiftly accommodated and then, when the table next to us started to get a bit louder, the manager suggested we move to another table that was quieter. The plates were preheated, the menu was very interesting and the food was really, really good. Small touches that show attention to detail and a service attitude that is rare these days. I wish you were in my local area as we’d be firm regulars. Thank you.

my partner had a small allergic reaction although nothing that we ordered had peanuts in- not even peanut oil. delivery was super quick. price of everything was super cheap, sadly the food reflected the price- average. we are trying to find our indian of choice as we moved here recently. after ordering, and being somewhat displeased, we checked the food hygiene score and noticed they were only awarded 2 stars. wish we’d have checked before but we went off recommendations. be careful if you have a peanut allergy!

Came here after being told by the other local Indian restaurant was full even though there's just 2 of us.(bombay quay) Anyway, what a find this place is, every single dish had its own lovely flavour and colours. staff pleasent, nice drinks and even cooked a dish to my individual liking (naga vindaloo). Pleasently surprised by my bill at the end as seemed very cheap for what we had but I'm not moaning. Left full and very pleased, if I visit northwich again we will definitely be going back. Top night, great hospitality and great food, what more can you ask for. Well worth going here

Located in a prime spot in Northwich town, BEAR offers a light and open-plan atmosphere with pastel colors that make it one of the most Instagram-worthy spots in town. The independent coffee shop chain has been gaining popularity since its opening last August and will soon offer outdoor drinking and dining options. With a new menu featuring cocktails and beers, there's much to look forward to.
It was my first time visiting BEAR on Saturday with friends. Brunch and cocktails were delicious. I can tell the ingredients were quality. Service was excellent. I also like the river side location. I enjoyed it that much I booked a very last minute Mother’s Day brunch to take my mum on the Sunday which we both thoroughly enjoyed.

Tasty, fresh, vibrant lunch. Bear updates its menu every few months (although their favourites remain constant). It’s a casual dining experience indoors and you order at the counter. Several people choose to bring their laptops to work from here. Peaceful view over the river & outdoor seating if dry/warm. We are regulars

Lovely restaurant spot with it being on the river. Great calm atmosphere with opportunity to play board games and do some colouring with the kids. Food was amazing, though we had the crispy chef on and had to get our burnt sausages re done, staff were welcoming and very helpful to resolve issues. Food was spot on for breakfast with a lot of variety to choose from.

I hate leaving negative reviews but on this occasion it can't be helped. This was my third and final visit to Bear sadly. I ordered Chicken and Bacon pancakes that was £15.90 and took 45 minutes to arrive then when it finally came the chicken was completely inedible. I'd have sent it back if I hadn't already waited so long for it. The prices are too high for what you get so I never made it a regular visit but for a treat now and again I accepted it. My previous 2 visits were pleasent enough but after today I can't say I'll be back.
Jack B — Google review
A rare date night without the kids at Bear. Great food, good beer and lovely service from the front of house. We come often for breakfast, but will absolutely return for dinner.
Matt G — Google review
I have been loyal customer over last 2 years and the Bear used to be my favourite local place for lovely brunch. I recommend it numerous of times to my friends and family and visited with people from outside of area and they all loved it. Today's visit was so disappointing that I have to leave bad review. My little one's sausage must of been left under the heater for well too long, it was all dry so asked for another one that unfortunately we never received. My poached egg was basically hard boiled egg but that was kindly replaced, then I was also missing a butter with my breakfast. I understand that the restaurant was super busy and this kind of mistakes can happen but it was just too many for one table, if that makes sense. Like one thing after another. From what I saw all the sausages were in the bowl under the light just drying to hell. Even my sourdough toast seemed that has been left just sitting there dry for ages. I don't think we will come back for the weekend visit again. Just not worth the money. I have to say though all your staff is amazing and they always been kind to us
