Nestled in Clonakilty, West Cork Model Railway Village is a charming family attraction by the waterfront. It offers a scaled-down town complete with a train line, providing an immersive experience of market day. The village features beautifully crafted miniature replicas of West Cork towns from the 1940s, offering an enchanting glimpse into the past. Kids can delight in watching trains running around the tracks and enjoy activities such as self-drive boats and mini diggers.
We loved this family experience with our 3 year old twins, well kept indoor and out door playground/playroom. Lovely activity with boats and diggers. Friendly staff

The West Cork Model Railway Village in Clonakilty is a charming and nostalgic attraction perfect for families and railway enthusiasts. It features meticulously crafted miniature replicas of towns along the old West Cork Railway line, capturing 1940s–50s Ireland in impressive detail. The trains run through the model towns, creating a dynamic and immersive experience. There's also a fun road train tour of Clonakilty and a small café on site. While it's more geared toward younger children and families, anyone with an interest in Irish history or model railways will enjoy it. It's a wholesome, relaxing stop on the West Cork trail.
Susana F — Google review
Great for kids to walk around and cheer the miniature village with the working trains that are constantly moving around the made up villages of the area there's a playground and 2 diggers the kids will love and boats on a lake to steer by remote a coffee shop and lots of history

Cute little activity to do if nearby. Nice to walk through and get a bite to eat. We got the train ride that went through the town which was really cute too- all the locals waving at us!😂

Very good. Easy walk from town. Or plenty of parking. My toddler loved it too.

We did the gin making experience led by Sush and James. Both super at their jobs, clearly having a passion which made the whole experience much more engaging and enjoyable. Well worth a visit. Thanks again.
Robert N — Google review
We’ve been twice and had an excellent experience both times. The staff are friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable, and the whiskey is delicious. Try the pot still, finished in a sherry cask, and the port cask finished whiskey. The gin and sloe gin are both so smooth and delightful and make fantastic cocktails!

Port Cask on the Rocks - June 20th, this year: There was a gentleman, a young man, presenting a range of Clonakilty Distillery offerings at the Dublin Duty Free. He had said, "I'm not trying to sell you on anything. I truly believe it's a fine Irish whiskey." I asked which one. "All of them." He said. I chose the Port Cask, and he suggested that it's best on the rocks, to bring out the flavor. I squinted at this, because I've always believed in all the hundred or two hundred whiskies I've tried that neat is the best way to take in the flavor (even if cask strength). When I arrived home in LA, I poured it over no more than two cubes of ice. It was a whole other experience. I'm truly thankful to that gentleman, and I'll be sure to visit the distillery next time I'm in the south. (p.s. I bought a bottle of the Sliabh Liag Distillers Silkie, which was marketed at a similar price. Garbage water. Literally jet fuel fed through a broken garden hose.)

What a great pub absolutely steeped in history!! First pint wasn’t the best but I’m nearly sure it was the first poured of the day. Once the bar man saw, he came out and took it back to refill. Great pints, great stories, great atmosphere.

A really cool venue. Great service at the bar. Very interesting decor with thousands of pictures on the walls. A must visit for music lovers.

Absolutely incredible evening. Seven very talented local musicians, plus the occasional acapella song from an audience member. Beautiful lively Irish "Trad" music in a cozy, intimate setting.

Cool place to enjoy a pint. The service was very good and there's plenty to look at in the bar. The place is quite large. There was a live band coming in later in the night (€15 cover charge). Wish we had the time to see them.

Discover the rich history of Ireland at Michael Collins House Museum, one of Cork City's top museums. Explore war and maritime exhibits, traditional crafts, and ancient artifacts that offer insight into the country's past. The beautifully restored house is dedicated to the life of Michael Collins and Ireland's fight for independence. With archive pictures, family documents, and rare artifacts on display, visitors can delve into the 1798 rebellion onwards.
For anyone who is interested in Irish History and the fight for independence then this museum is a must. It tells the story of the independence movement from Wolfetone through to the Irish Civil War, but first and foremost it tells the story of Michael Collins. A story that is presented in an engaging way giving the context of the time and place. As someone who studied this period of Irish History I found this museum one of the best I've been to.

Kev was a great guide during our visit to the Michael Collins Museum in Clonakilty. The museum gives a clear, interesting look at Collins’ life and the Irish War of Independence, with some personal items and cool displays. Restaurant
Spud Lane is a highly recommended restaurant known for its delectable dishes, particularly their onion rings and chips. The dips and milkshakes are also highly praised. Though slightly pricier, the top-notch quality of the food justifies the cost. Customers who ordered from Spud Lane for the first time experienced their order arriving earlier than expected and claimed it to be the best fish & chips they've had since moving to Cloni.
Had chips here last night about 10.30pm. They were so good! Fresh and crispy. Friendly staff also
Martina M — Google review
No slice of lemon, with fish and chips. The fish was from the fridge freezer. It would be nicer if it had fresh fish.
James N — Google review
Ordered online around 10:30 got a message pop up saying my order was cancelled and I will receive my refund in 3-5 business days it has now been 8 days no refund in my account:) we also had to pay an additional 30€ up front for the food they cooked which wasn’t even up to standard. Very disappointing, and the owner lied straight to my face when confronted. Do not eat there!!
Laura D — Google review
Did not eat here because they do not serve fish and chips. Lots of other food to order but NO fish.
Kelly H — Google review
We ordered a delivery to a hotel and the food was excellent and on time Highly recommended
Anabel G — Google review
Went here recently, I do not recommend. The tables were dirty. One of which was occupied by a delivery driver and all his junk so I and my partner had to sit on the windowsill. Was waiting about half an hour for a burger and chips. The southern fried chicken burger was disgusting. The buns weren't toasted, the chicken itself was cold, had a stale, plasticky texture, and there was a mountain of strong cheddar cheese in the burger which was just an awful combination. The chips I got were okay, but that's kind of the bare minimum tbh. Do not go here til they get their act together. Go to The Chunky Chip, Oak Fire, AbraKebabra or Giovanni's.
Dan — Google review
The food from here is delicious, especially the onion rings. The chips are great also . The dips are great. My son loves the milk shakes. Slightly more expensive ,but the reason why is evident when you taste the top quality of the food. Highly recommend.

Just ordered for the first time from Spud Lane. Order came 30 minutes earlier than indicated on the Just Eat app. Best fish & Chips I’ve had since moving to Cloni. This is our new go to place for take outs!!!! Well done guys!!

Daily Dose Restaurant is a lovely small place with plenty of seating room and lots of food options. The restaurant offers relatively cheap but tasty food, including delicious pizza and chicken goujons. Customers appreciate the fast service, with one mentioning receiving their online order in just 20 minutes. The staff are friendly and accommodating, providing excellent service with a smile. Diners recommend the Steak Sandwich for its perfectly cooked steak and deliciously seasoned chips paired with garlic mayo.
Had lunch here today. Absolutely delicious. I'm dairy free, yet they made a lovely Hawaiian Pizza with no cheese. Wouldn't even miss it. I'd a lo Ely hot chocolate made with Oat milk and look how it was presented. A lovely treat. My friend , she's Gluten Free, she had a fabulous fully loaded beef burger with gluten free bread. We will definitely be back.

We popped in for lunch this afternoon and were super impressed. Really friendly staff, fresh tasty food, the pizza and falafel were great. We'll definitely be back.

I had fish and chips, they offer a grilled option for those who don't want the fried fish - it was so tasty! Great to see a healthier option available. Lovely staff, welcoming and clean place, would recommend.

Lovely food and staff, good location with plenty of seating room. Pictured are Steak Sandwich (w/chips & garlic mayo) and Chicken Stir Fry. Desserts - Pavlova and Oreo Cheesecake. Wholehearted recommendation for the Steak Sandwich - steak was perfectly done and not chewy and it it went great with mushrooms and onions inside. The side of chips were delicious and perfectly seasoned, well paired with lovely garlic mayo. Pavlova was really lovely and went well with complimentary ice cream and sticky toffee sauce. Cheesecake is a good choice if you like mild cheese flavor and creaminess, lovely with ice cream. Nice spot for a quick bite, brunch or coffee and dessert with reasonable prices. Recommend!

Kirbys @The Whale's Tail Restaurant is a family-friendly spot where kids can have a blast with carnival activities while enjoying a tasty menu and musical entertainment. The restaurant also offers an exceptional Seafood Linguine pasta dish that has received high praise for its fresh seafood, perfectly cooked pasta, and flavorful sauce. Additionally, the restaurant provides a relaxed atmosphere and professional staff, making it a great dining experience for all.
I hadn't been to the Whale's Tail for a few years but it is even better than I remember with a more extensive menu. The mains were all excellent and the staff make for a welcoming experience. The cocktails are also first-class. Highly recommended and definitely among the best spots in Clon.

The steak was cooked perfectly, made with high-quality ingredients, and really tasty. However, the prices are too high, and I expected a wider selection of fish dishes. The menu, atmosphere, and service feel a bit confusing. I’m not quite sure what type of restaurant this is trying to be.

Delicious dining experience! Firstly the venue had a great buzzing atmosphere especially for a Wednesday night. It looked great. We had some great drinks. Now the star of the show, the food … fabulous tastes and flavour. Spicy Sushi and a lovely chicken and potato main which also had a great source. If you’re passing by, you have to eat there !!

Visited Whales Tail for Father's Day and it was exceptional. The menu has a good choice, but the food itself is piping hot, not warm, but hot. That's a plus in my books even before you taste it. The fish is excellent, local and fresh. Mocktails are a great addition to the menu, feels like a cheat treat. And the dads received chocolates as a special treat, a small but nice touch, it just shows the superb customer service. Thank you for a beautiful day.

We had such a lovely evening at Kirby’s The Whale’s Tail last night. I was dining with my daughter, and from start to finish the whole experience was second to none. The food was absolutely delicious, as were the cocktails! The atmosphere was warm and welcoming and the service friendly and attentive, a special thank you to Anne Marie and Denise who looked after us so well. It’s no wonder it’s a West Cork favourite. Highly recommend and looking forward to our next visit.

Visited recently for late lunch with friends, wow is an understatement. Every dish we had was amazing, I had lobster roll followed by the best lemon posset & finished off with lovely coffee. It has everything & everything was perfect. Highly recommend & will most definitely be back.
