Ghost Towns
Discover the hauntingly beautiful Ghost Town Palm Beach, a place steeped in history and cultural significance. This once bustling city now stands as a poignant reminder of ethnic tensions and international politics. Nature has reclaimed the streets and buildings, creating an eerie yet captivating atmosphere that feels like walking through a town-scale museum frozen in time. Visitors can explore on foot or rent a bicycle to take in as many details as possible.
It’s hard to describe a place with such a heavy past. Walking through this abandoned city is both fascinating and unsettling. The entire area is fenced off, but visitors are allowed to enter (entrance is free). Just beyond the entrance, you’ll find a small visitor center where you can grab a drink, rent bikes or carts, or join a tour. It’s an experience we’ll never forget.

An amazing place to see. We had a hire car to get us to the border from Ayia Napa. We asked the information desk to call a taxi. 20 euros to the Ghost town and the driver was really helpful, gave us his card to call him when we was ready to be taken back. Check opening times as it closes around 5. It's so eerie at the same time very sad to see.
Zoe B — Google review
This place is an absolute must see - it feels like you are on a movie set, only everything is real. You can easily use 2-3 hours here and still not see everything. You feel the vibe once was and it sometimes catches you as being a bit scary. I for sure wouldn’t like walking alone around here in the dark hours at night. I feel for the thousands of displaced people that lost everything and I wish for them that they one day will be able to return and get back all their properties they lost during the war in 1974.
Johnny H — Google review
Lovely place. It's so silent and deserted. Better to get there early before the bubbling tourist troop in.
Oluwatobi — Google review
A really puzzling experience, tbh. You walk in a city that has been completely abandoned 50 years ago, all the buildings are crumbling down, and you feel like you've been teleported in some sort of post-apocaliptic movie, but at the same time you see hundreds of tourists and locals in swimsuits cheerfully swarming in all directions like in any regular touristic area. In all this, every few blocks, some guy in a camo uniform guarding a checkpoint tells you that you cannot enter a certain street because part of the city has been turned into a luxury resort for the Turkish military. Very weird feeling. Interesting, tho.
Stefano C — Google review
Great visit. We hire the scooters, which was a great choice as the walk can be long
Steve H — Google review
Nice beach, crystal sea when the beach is empty. The restaurant has many drinks and food, same price as greek side.
Alessandro G — Google review
An amazing place to learn about the history of Cyprus and how it was lost it time of 1970's. Felt very sad too and a little eerie seeing all the empty shops and houses going derelict that were once full of life. You only have access to certain roads and it is mostly fenced of and security guarded, but definitely worth a visit to walk or cycle around. Their was some information boards. No cars allowed. Their is access to a lovely beach at the bottom with cafe and toilets. Access is free

Famagusta Ghost Town

Famagusta Ghost Town, also known as Varosha, is a haunting reminder of the conflict in Cyprus. This abandoned district was once a thriving city until its inhabitants fled during the Turkish invasion. Visitors can explore the eerie streets and abandoned hotels, offering a glimpse into its tragic history. The area is under police control, and visitors are advised to keep their belongings secure.
Worth a long slow walk. They do have scooters, bikes and golf carts for hire. But we feel it's better to walk and stop for pictures. There is a cafe as you enter and 1 on the beach. And another in the town square. It gets hot so bring drinks and find shade.

Title: Kapalı Maraş the Ghost City. How is my feeling coming back after 2 years later? + The area has not lost its magic and sometimes you still feel sometimes terrifying and unusual. Maybe I cannot find the right words for the feelings here.💥 + Still free of charge 🎉 + You can swim on 3 beaches inside. The water is perfect a cold touch in September/October. The beaches (sand) are still nice maybe a bit cleaner than before, but maybe because of now its off season and less sun lounger etc.🏊‍♀️👌 - The lost buildings are beginning to crumble and some buildings are destroyed from their own weight and age 🏖️🌊🏚️🚧 ************************** Explanation of my votings + Pro - Contra o Only for your information 5 Stars: It was really special, you must try it 4 Stars: It was nice, you should try it 3 Stars: Nothing special, you could try it 2 Stars: Try only if you have no alternative 1 Stars: Bad, don't bother trying ->>> To understand... Why do I give 5 stars so rarely? Out of over 365 reviews, I realised that there are no businesses that are 100% perfect. I rate businesses in relation to an area, such as a city and the surrounding area. Most businesses in an area sell similar products of different qualities, and I rate these products up to a maximum of 4 stars. Therefore, I decided to give 5 stars if a business in this region has a unique selling point. This could be a unique product, an awesome view, or cosy surroundings that set them apart from other businesses in the area. I can give a five-star rating if they earn four stars for food, service, and ambiance, and an extra star if they have something special.<<<- ->>> For communication, improvements or a retest request you can check my profile <<<-

Ghost town was fantastic. I recommend hiring a bicycle or a golf buggy because its a long walk and if you go in the summer, it's very hot. The beach is so clean, the water is crystal clear. The town is very quiet but you feel a sort of sadness to see all those abandoned buildings. Overall I recommend. We had a great a time. The kids loved the bicycle ride and the beach.

A haunting yet fascinating experience — walking through Famagusta’s ghost town feels like time stopped in 1974. Beautiful sea views, eerie silence, and a powerful reminder of Cyprus’s history. Well worth a visit.

We went with "The Original Red bus" as we did not want to take our rental car across to Northern Cyprus. Left the car on the last stop before Varosha and hopped on the bus. Very good service from this company. They provide more context on the way to and from Varosha. Beware you need to leave your passport at the border and get it back when you leave Northern Cyprus! I was not aware and made me nervous, luckily all went well. The guide takes care of everything. The city itself is a curious place to visit and worth the trip. We rented scooters which o highly recommend instead of doing it all on foot. The rent was only for 2 hours and we were there a bit longer so had to drag them back for the last 10 min, do not recommend that 😂 You can go on the water, but we did not, spent the two+ hours scooting around and having coffee at the very nice café by the mosque

Visiting Famagusta Ghost Town is an unforgettable experience – both haunting and fascinating at the same time. Walking along its silent streets feels like stepping into a perfectly preserved time capsule from the 1970s, where luxury hotels, shops, and homes stand frozen in time, slowly reclaimed by nature. There’s an undeniable thrill as you wander near the abandoned buildings, with rusting cars and faded signs whispering stories of a glamorous past abruptly cut short. Yet, despite its eerie atmosphere, there’s something incredibly captivating and beautiful about this place. It’s not just a ghost town – it’s a powerful reminder of history, resilience, and the passage of time. Standing on the stunning, deserted beach, looking out at the turquoise waters, you can almost picture the bustling holiday paradise it once was. A visit to Famagusta Ghost Town leaves you with goosebumps but also a sense of wonder – it’s a rare, must-see destination that lingers in your mind long after you’ve left.
BESTSUNBEDS U — Google review
This is a fantastic place that reflects the drama that unfolded here. Initially, after crossing the border and getting close to the ghost town, there's a free parking lot (not very large). From there, you can either walk to explore or rent scooters/bikes from locals (though keep in mind that they're in extremely poor condition and worn out). Walking will easily take you about two hours. For your own safety, you can't stray from the designated trails, as some houses are still undemined. Furthermore, there are military officers everywhere, either directing you or prohibiting you from turning into certain alleys. At the end, there's a small bar where you can grab a bite to eat and a drink (NOTE: payment by card is required). Overall, Famagusta is a beautiful city with a lost history and is worth a visit. Just remember that the sightseeing area is limited.

Was awe inspiring to see how much fun the previous inhabitants would have had in the city and beech areas. The amount of dilapidation is immense and will never return to its former glory until both sides of the green line get their act together with agree to live together in harmony.

Castle
Othello Castle is a 14th-century citadel with four towers, a central courtyard, and a carved winged lion. It's located in Famagusta and is part of the city's rich heritage along with the Lala Mustafa Pasha Mosque. The castle offers a historic and well-preserved experience, allowing visitors to explore its passages and rooms. It's recommended to visit early in the morning or later in the afternoon for a cooler experience.
Othello's Tower in Famagusta is the ancient fortress which guards the harbour, built during the Lusignan period in the 14th Century.

A stunning fortress erected in the 14th century, subsequently switching rule multiple times, eventually culminating the control of the Turkish Cypriots, but still retaining the unmistakable European character and design.

We came to what is famously known as the Othello Castle in TRNC. We attended the finals of the Taybugha League set up by Hoca Alperen of Mamluk Academy. It was an amazing experience doing Archery in a medieval castle where many before us would also practice Archery. And also a site of many wars where Archery would have been used. It was a nice hot day, and the perfect location for Archery.

Free entry on Sundays, museum section was closed as were some sections of the ramparts & roof. Great views of the port & famagusta town.

It's a beautiful ancient castle which is located in the historical part of the city. It's a great place to walk and enjoy the scenery.
Negin K — Google review
A nice atmospheric old ruin, but there's not very much to see, apart from the Venetian lion above the gate, and the small display about the restoration project. Will only take 15-20 minutes to have a look around. Entrance fee was 3 euros in early 2023. There are (reasonably clean) toilets on the site.

The Church of St. George of the Greeks, also known as the Church of St George the Exiler, is a historic cathedral in Famagusta dating back to the 1360s. Once a magnificent Greek Orthodox Cathedral, it was financed by wealthy Nestorian merchants and boasted grandeur with its large domed roof and outer rooms. However, today it stands as a mere shell of its former self, bearing scars from cannonball pitting and neglect over the centuries.
Incredible ruins of a marvelous church! It is very dirty and neglected! Tha government MUST intervene to safeguard this authentic masterpiece of Cyprus

Fantastic place to take photos, entrance with no control
Nihat K — Google review
It’s one of the most impressive Gothic ruins in the city — built in the 14th century during the Lusignan period as the main Orthodox cathedral of Famagusta. The church once symbolized the power of the Byzantine community under Frankish rule. Despite heavy damage from earthquakes and wars, its soaring arches, ribbed vaults, and elegant windows still show its former grandeur. It stands within the old walled city, not far from the Lala Mustafa Pasha Mosque and Othello Castle — forming part of Famagusta’s rich medieval skyline.
G W — Google review

You can see that the cathedral was once magnificent. Sadly the Turkish authorities have done very little over the centuries (including today) to preserve the remains, and it is clearly now close to collapse - several large stones are about to fall from the remaining dome, when they fall the dome will fall 😔😔😔

Lala Mustafa Paşa camii

Mosque
The Lala Mustafa Paşa Mosque, or Lala Mustafa Pasa Camii, is a stunning historical gem located in Famagusta, Cyprus. Originally constructed as the Cathedral of Saint Nicholas between 1298 and around 1400, this magnificent Gothic structure was transformed into a mosque following the Ottoman conquest in 1571. While it underwent significant changes—such as the removal of religious artworks—the essence of its architectural beauty remains intact.
Given it's origin as a church, later converted into a Mosque. I think I can safely say that this is the first and only Gothic Mosque I've ever seen. What a sight
Amine A — Google review
Yesterday we went on a short visit to the city of Famagusta. A main point on the list of sights to visit was the Saint Nicholas Cathedral now called the Lala Mustafa Pasha Mosque. Like many other historical buildings, it had a turbulent history enduring earthquakes, wars, sieges, passing from the French to the Venetians and the Turks respectively. The building is built in Rayonnant Gothic style, similar to a portion of Notre Dame in Paris The French Lusignan dynasty, who ruled as kings of Cyprus between 1192 and 1489 brought with them the latest French taste in architecture, particularly a number of developments in Gothic architecture. The cathedral was built between 1298 and 1312 and was consecrated in 1328. The Lusignans would be crowned as kings of Cyprus in the Cathedral of St. Sofia (now known as the Selimiye Mosque) in Nicosia and then crowned as kings of Jerusalem in the Cathedral of St. Nicolae Famagusta. Even after about 700-800 years of history, the building has an impressive air due to its size and attracts a lot of visitors. As a historical "contribution", the Turks turned the Christian cathedral into a mosque by removing the Christian symbols, even building a minaret. To visit the (almost empty) interior you must take off your shoes at the entrance. The muezzin can be heard on mute...
Soe S — Google review
Now a mosque, but originally known as the Cathedral of Saint Nicolas, and later Saint Sofia, this was originally a monumental gothic cathedral. It has been remade into a mosque by erecting a minaret, changing the interior layout and by installing a special water fountain to wash your feet before entering the mosque (you must take your shoes off before entering, as per Islamic tradition). Now, I'm an atheist, but it still just doesn't sit right with me to change the character of a building in such a manner, honestly. So, the building is still a sight to behold, certainly, but also, it may make certain people uneasy as well. It certainly did make me uncomfortable...
Nikola R — Google review
Magnificent Gothic architecture meets Ottoman history — the Lala Mustafa Pasha Mosque (former St. Nicholas Cathedral) is Famagusta’s most iconic sight. Peaceful, beautifully preserved, and full of character. A must-see in Northern Cyprus.
G W — Google review
The Lala Mustafa Pasha Mosque in Famagusta was originally built as the Cathedral of Saint Nicholas by the Lusignan dynasty between 1298 and 1312. It was consecrated in 1328. It stands as a prime example of Rayonnant Gothic architecture, often compared to France’s Reims Cathedral. After the Ottoman conquest in 1571, it was converted into a mosque and renamed the “Ayasofya (Hagia Sofia) Mosque of Mağusa. In 1954, it was renamed the Lala Mustafa Pasha Mosque to honor the Ottoman general who led the siege. The building remains an iconic blend of medieval Christian and Islamic heritage.
Tunç K — Google review
Built in 1328 in the image and likeness of the Reims Cathedral, the Cathedral of St. Nicholas has been the main church of Cyprus for two and a half centuries. In this cathedral the monarchs of Jerusalem were crowned. In 1571, Cyprus came under the rule of the Ottoman Empire and the cathedral became the Hagia Sophia mosque, to which a minaret was added a little later. Since 1954, the mosque has been named after Lala Mustafa Pasha, the Ottoman commander who conquered Cyprus. Without a doubt, the cathedral (and today the mosque) is an important historical fragment not only of Cyprus, but also of Europe...

Nice square and church. There is a nice old tree to the side as well. You can have a look inside.

Mashallah .The intricate architecture and ornate details showcased the rich cultural heritage of the Ottoman Empire. Stepping into the mosque felt like a step back in history, with its well-preserved beauty and the echoes of centuries past. The serene atmosphere and the subtle play of light through the ancient windows added to the overall mystique. It was a truly enriching experience, offering a glimpse into the architectural brilliance and historical significance of this cultural gem in Famagusta. It stood as a testament to the cultural and architectural brilliance of the Ottoman Empire, offering visitors a glimpse into the rich Islamic heritage of the region.

Known as the Shakespeare of Turkish literature, Namik Kemal spent 38 months of his life in this building. The dungeon is two stories tall, and was built by the Ottomans in a corner of the ruined Venetian palace. Namik Kemal was born on the 21st December 1840 in Tekirdag near Istanbul. From an aristocratic family, he was educated privately, learning Arabic, Persian and French, and was employed at the Ottoman government translation bureau. He became acquainted with leading poets of the day, and began writing himself. He became editor of the newspaper Tasvir-i Efkar, but the political nature of the publication upset the Ottoman government, and in 1867 he, together with several of his contempories, fled to London, moving later to Paris and Vienna. On his return to Istanbul in 1871, he continued writing, and in 1873 he staged his most famous play, Vatan Yahut Silistre (Fatherland or Silistria), a drama centred on the Siege of Silistria. Although described as a dungeon, it is not underground. It is no less bleak for that. He originally stayed in a single room in the ground floor, measuring not much more than 15ft by 10ft, and totally devoid of furnishings. After a while he was allowed to move to the first floor with slightly more facilities.

The Venetian Palace Ruins in Northern Cyprus are a fascinating historical site with a rich and intriguing past. The palace, originally built by the Lusignan Kings of Cyprus around 1300, suffered partial destruction from earthquakes in 1369, leaving only its grand facade and back courtyard walls standing. Adjacent to the palace are dungeons that once held the famed Turkish writer Namik Kemal from 1873 to 1876 and now serve as a museum dedicated to his legacy.

Little is left of what must've been a dazzling display of Venetian / Italian architecture. It is such a pity that it is in such a disheveled state. I believe it would be beneficial for both tourism, as well as the sheer historical value, for some renovations to be undertaken to carefully reconstruct and restore the prior beauty of this part of the city.

I came here on two separate occasions, the first being with another two people and we had the set meze menu which meant all night long the waiters would top up our hot/cold meze and the chef would bring fresh piping hot meats straight off the bbq direct to our table which was awesome. The other time I went alone and had a slow cooked chunk of lamb on bone with potatoes and a few sides which was to die for. All in all I’ve enjoyed both my visits to this awesome place. Although I heard a few rumours of tourists being overcharged here, I must admit I was hesitant about going but I went ahead with it. Weather I got treated differently because I speak the local language too? I have no idea but I would recommend this spot!

Delicious Food, Top Service & Great Vibes What truly makes İncir Altı stand out is the incredible team behind it. Owner Hasan and his staff do an outstanding job, managing to serve and satisfy well over 100 guests at once without compromising on quality or friendliness. You can tell the team works with passion and professionalism, even on busy nights. The staff is very friendly, efficient, and genuinely welcoming. On many evenings, the experience is made even better with live music that brings a fun, lively energy to the restaurant. I recently hosted a celebration here with over 100 guests, and thanks to Hasan and his team, it was an absolutely perfect evening. Every guest was well taken care of, the food came out on time, the service and food was perfect and the atmosphere was amazing. Whether you’re planning a big event or just want to enjoy a great meal in a beautiful setting, İncir Altı is the place to go. It offers great food, warm hospitality, live entertainment, and a truly enjoyable atmosphere. Whether you’re with family, friends, or just exploring the area, it’s a place you’ll want to come back to. Hasan and his team will make sure it’s a night to remember.

During my recent visit to Castello Restaurant & Bar, I was captivated by the enchanting ambiance of this Turkish cuisine gem nestled in a beautifully preserved historic building. The atmosphere exudes charm and warmth, making it an ideal spot for both locals and visitors alike. The attentive staff struck just the right balance between being helpful and allowing us to enjoy our meal without feeling rushed. We opted for the meze, which turned out to be a delightful array of flavors that truly tantalized our taste buds.
Great restaurant for a cozy dinner by the fireplace! We had fire-grilled lamb with meze and a glass of red wine. It was a perfect portion for two people to share. The ambiance was nice and quiet. Our server was very polite and helpful. I definitely recommend this place.

I recently visited a Turkish cuisine restaurant housed in a stunning old building, and it was truly a memorable experience. The setting is exceptionally beautiful, with an ambiance that perfectly captures the charm of its historic surroundings. The staff were attentive, striking the perfect balance of being helpful without hovering. We ordered the meze, and each dish was a flavor-packed delight. The dips and starters were a true taste explosion—fresh, vibrant, and beautifully presented. Every bite was phenomenal and showcased authentic Turkish flavors at their best. If you're looking for a place with incredible food, a warm atmosphere, and a touch of history, I highly recommend this restaurant!

Since we went without reservation, they gave us a table next to the live performance platform, we took the fixed menu, I dont know why filede menu always recommended as first choice in restaurants here, food was OK, first cold meze, then warm starters and main dish served, after 10 pm, unfortunately people started to smoke inside, it is a bit pricy than the restaurants nearby

Unforgettable Experience: Be Prepared For A Feast! Laid-back restaurant with live entertainment. Popular with the locals, ideal for groups. Set menu concept, took away the stress on deciding what to eat. The moment we sat down, an abundance of delicious food was placed on our table, solving our indecisiveness. We were too eager to eat to take many photos, but trust me, the portions were generous for our group of 3. Had encountered minor issues and few dogs lingered around our table. However, the owner happened to be present and promptly took action. His attentiveness and willingness to rectify any issues impressed us greatly. Castello is a must-visit destination that will leave you craving more. Make sure to add it to your itinerary – you won't be disappointed! Will definitely return!

Nice restaurant, food and service were good . Nice old building with a lot of character . Found the music a little too loud. The fixed menu is a little too much food , we were already full with the appetizers by the time the main kebabs came and could not eat. I would recommend a la carte menu if you want to enjoy the kebabs and much more reasonably priced .

Restaurant
Devran Beach Restaurant is a lovely beachfront spot with friendly staff and delicious food. The restaurant offers fresh fish, allowing guests to even choose their own. The homemade fries and fresh salad are tasty and well-seasoned. While the prices have increased slightly, the quality justifies it. With sunbeds available for rent, a variety of snacks and drinks, and a pleasant ambiance with nice music, it's an ideal place to relax by the blue waves on white sand.
Called in for lunch, service is with a smile, ordering is prompt and lovely hot food served. We had a couple of cheese burgers and 2 fish and chips, all 4 of us enjoyed. lt's right on the beach so you can have a swim too

⭐ 2/5 - Extremely Disappointing Experience – Overpriced & Underwhelming We recently visited Devran Restaurant in Cyprus for dinner, and I must say it was one of the most disappointing dining experiences we’ve had on the island. The main issue boils down to poor value for money, tiny portions, and a lack of staff knowledge, especially when it comes to English communication. Let’s start with the food: • Grilled Octopus (€35): This was a shocking disappointment. For the price, we expected a hearty seafood dish, but what we received were four tiny pieces of octopus served with a small side of vegetables (barely 50-100g in total). Not only was the portion size underwhelming, but the dish also lacked flavor and presentation. • King Prawns with Garlic and Tomato (€21.50): Another letdown. The prawns were small, drowned in an excessive amount of butter, and lacked any real seasoning. The quantity certainly did not justify the price. • Special Seafood Platter (€35): This was the most misleading item of the night. It mainly consisted of a large portion of fries and very minimal seafood. You’d expect a seafood platter to highlight variety and freshness, but instead, we received a plate dominated by starch and lacking any real seafood presence. On top of that, the staff, although polite, seemed quite inexperienced and unfamiliar with the menu. More importantly, they struggled significantly with English, making it difficult to ask basic questions or clarify dish components. This led to confusion while ordering and further contributed to the poor experience. While I don’t fault them personally — they were not rude — they seemed undertrained and unsure. In terms of value, this place is nowhere near worth the prices they charge. There are many better restaurants in the area that offer quality food, larger portions, and far better service at a much more reasonable price point. Bottom Line: I would not recommend Devran to anyone. Unless drastic improvements are made to portion sizes, pricing, and staff training, it’s best to avoid this restaurant. Sadly, it does not live up to the expectations set by its menu or its pricing.

The staff need training a lot more! We advised them of a gluten allergy, despite this they then bought the food out with bread on! We told them this was wrong, they went away picked the bread off and bought it back, we told them we can’t accept this, they did resolve this eventually! They also missed two meals off so two people had to wait longer and our group never got to eat all together! Good bar in an amazing location but terrible food service!

A nice beach restaurant on the beach. 25tl for sunbeds 25tl for alcoholic beverages 12tl for cold drinks Good choice of snacks and cold beers Next to the Palm Beach hotel, the last resort for a cold drink or a nice cheap meal and watch the blue waves catching the white gold sand. Brilliand choice. Not too crowded.

A 1700s complex with a museum of icons, archaeological finds & the tomb of Cyprus’s patron saint.
Our first stop exploring the region of many historical antiquities that should be seen if you're in Northern Cyprus. Our first stop was visiting the tiny chapel over the tomb of St. Barnabas. Upstairs seemed to be in disrepair for obvious reasons, but as I descended it down the steps to the tomb area, it got my hair standing on end being in this holy place. My wife and I said our prayers and left to explore the monastery and museum. The chapel area of the monastery is full of icons from over the many years. It's old, but seemed well preserved. There was a nominal fee to get inside as well as a small Cafe and gift shop. The museum is full of really impressive collection of ancient antiquities that some date to 1000 BC. Kind of mind-blowing for us. Definitely one of the most intriguing stops of our day!

Although it unequivocally merits further restoration and management, this monastery, or rather, museum, as is the current state of it, is a notable piece of Greek Cypriot history and national identity. It is commendable that efforts are underway to make sure it remains reputable. If you're visiting, make sure not only to visit the main building of the monastery, but also to explore the gallery behind it. The gallery can be entered through the back courtyard, and it holds a sizable collection of archeological artifacts well worth observing.

Amazing little church with such a story to tell. In addition to the church, there is a museum of artifacts found in the surrounding area . There is a charming little refreshment place that offered fresh squeezed juice, water and ice cream. Also , a separate tomb that houses the body of St Barnabas. Outside was a small market ( 3 tables) that were selling locally made souvenirs. Very much worth a visit.

Nice museum with a lot of a artifacts . It's a combination of a place of worship and a handwork exhibition. + A lot of to see (I could spend easily 45 minutes there, it's worth the money) + You can see a lot of handworks and paintings + The building has his own ambience + Well maintained facility - Toilet cost extra

Again, this was one of the many stops on our one-day sightseeing tour from Larnaca. This place is interesting. I don't know how much the entrance fee is as we had entry as part of a sightseeing day where we visited more places in Cyprus, but it was a nice and pleasant stop.

Saint Anne Church, nestled in the historic Syrian quarter, boasts a rich heritage as it transitioned from a Latin Catholic church to one embraced by the Maronite community later on. This charming little church stands alone on an isolated site, creating a unique atmosphere that draws visitors in. Although access is restricted and you can only admire its beauty through a fence, its quaint architecture captivates many. Absolutely horrible experience. This place is a complete disappointment and a shame for Famagusta. The drinks were a joke — my mojito looked nothing like a proper cocktail, just a sour mess with huge ice blocks served in a piña colada glass. Clearly, they have no idea how to make cocktails. Even the Corona was served without lime! To make things worse, the staff showed terrible behaviour towards the street cats — stepping on their tails and shooing them away. Some of the local customers were doing the same, which was disgusting to witness. Overall, an awful atmosphere, unprofessional service, and zero respect for animals which btw Cyprus is know for its animals. I honestly hope this place either changes its attitude or shuts down entirely. Avoid at all costs.

As part of the day trip, when we went from Larnaca to Famagusta for a sightseeing tour, we were hungry. Also, we were only apart for about an hour and a half. That's why we tried to find a restaurant that is close. It was clear to us that it would be more expensive in the tourist area and it would also be more about quantity. But even so, we were looking forward to sitting on the terrace overlooking the cathedral right on the square. We had a beer. Partner had seafood which was very good. I had a Turkish specialty and I wouldn't do it again. Friend liked it, basically ate my food but not me much. I found that the mutton smell was very strong and I probably don't like mutton. We should have had something else. The advantage is that you are right on the square. It has a very beautiful atmosphere. I appreciated the salad. The vegetables were excellent.

Terrible experience. The drinks were a complete disaster — my mojito was just a glass of nonsense, and my daughter’s brandy sour was awful. The staff were shockingly disrespectful toward the street cats. Absolutely disgusting behaviour and a real shame for Famagusta. Avoid this place.
Aniko P — Google review
Very kind staff, and a great, lovely location just by the historical castle, but the portions are a bit small, could be enough though for a person. The problem for us was th they brought the food a bit late so we had to run to the airport. But if you have enough time and your not that hungry, it’s a really nice place to chill and enjoy the view. Fresh nice beers as well 👌🏻👌🏻

Food is poor quality and doesn't look like the pictures. I had fish which was dry. Disappointing. Good location and I guess that's what enables them to continue trading.
Elisabeth S — Google review
Bad service, broken chairs, burnt dry food, expensive compared to the quality of the food, I do not recommend this place for anyone!

Turkish restaurant
Restaurant
Temel Reis Restaurant is a charming Turkish eatery located in Protaras, Paralimni. Visitors have praised the friendly staff and delicious food, particularly the Melhiya dish. The restaurant offers a nice view despite its proximity to a busy road. Guests staying at nearby hotels find it convenient to visit for a meal or drink due to its close proximity. The service is efficient, with hot plates being a rarity in Mediterranean restaurants.
♿☑️ Accessibility available at entrance and toilets are also accessible, spare wheelchair available. Services is so amazing, I had frequent few minutes checks which made it easier not to call any of the waiters or waitresses whenever I needed something and I love that so much about the place. I had Beyti kebab (standard) which is about 400grms. Since I'm lactose intolerant I told them not prepare it with yogurt and it came out just perfect and so tasty which i couldn't finish because it was so filling and the quantity was really good. The complementary starter was really good, I enjoyed the salad, mixed pickles and the bread. Fantastic place and great Turkish meals.

Very bad value for money. Small portions for high prices. Strange for this type of restaurants which look rather like fast food. Service OK. Cant recommend.

Very nice food. Welcoming personnel. We were a party of three. The manager accommodated my request for a meal with no meat and dairy products and brought me a tasty vegetarian pizza. Thank you!

Fresh home made delicious food. Highly recommend the chicken doner and there home made houmous is really good! Not many places make there own that I know of. Owner was pleasant and very friendly to me and my family. Definitely be back again and again. Thanks.

The food was very nicely cooked and seasons and large portions. Service was super friendly and the prices are very reasonable. A great place for dinner next to the large new mosque.

Seafood restaurant
This seafood restaurant is a must-go for anyone looking for some of the best seafood around. The staff are courteous and the food is delicious, with a variety of flavours that all taste great. The prices can be a bit high, but it's definitely worth it.
Seafood on another level. Love love this place. Staff are very polite. Fooooood is gooood! Ugh! Very well cooked seafood. Tastes good aswell. My fave is their crab balls or claws. Amazing!!! 🤩

I liked the experience in the restaurant, everyone was friendly. the food is great it might be missing a bit of flavour but it was lovely. thanks for the memories I shared with my friends in Ocean House.
Abdulmalek M — Google review
Everything was great and the food was delicious, the only reason I'm giving it 4 starts is that I had better seafoods around and it's not fair to give this one 5 stars! Qualitywise it was perfect.

Its a nice place to try see food, the service was fast it didnt take long, overall nice experince.

Very bad place gays I can not recommend this place , because my friend and I ordered the most expensive dish, and it turned out to be not at all what was expected, everything was very fatty, a lot of oil, it was overcooked, dry, and not very tasty at the same time very expensive, the staff is unfriendly, we decided to complain, but in the end we waited an hour until they approached us in order to solve our issue, in the end we were rude and threatened by the police, while we wanted to figure it out, they started taking pictures of us and didn’t treat us nicely, in general, we didn’t like it very much, we don’t advise going there

Nice restaurant, with good service. Unfortunately though the food is rather disappointing. Tried on two occasions and sadly this is the conclusion I had to come to.

Basically it is inspiration of Ocean basket restaurant, they tried to do everything same like ocean basket restaurant from South Africa and has many at South cyprus, which they come close but not same or better.Owner must spent good amount for decoration, clean and good service, price little high for North Cyprus but it is normal even cheap for who comes aboard. They deserve recommendation. Thank you

Went with the family and was pleased with the restaurant. Food was adequate and the service was very good. Was a bit on the expensive side especially if you are a local.

Turkish restaurant
Niazi's Restaurants is a standout dining destination in Kibris, with branches in both Magusa and Girne that consistently deliver exceptional culinary experiences. Their renowned full kebab is a must-try, but don’t miss the chance to delve into their extensive à la carte menu for an even deeper appreciation of their offerings. Breakfast at Niazi's is particularly delightful, perfect for sharing, and the friendly service adds to the welcoming atmosphere.
My husband and I dined at Niazi’s Restaurant in Famagusta a couple of nights ago. From the warm welcome we received when we first walked in to the fond farewell when we left, Niazi’s Restaurant and its staff exceeded our expectations and set the bar high in overall dining experience. While the quality and taste of the food were excellent, the professional service was what made our dining experience truly remarkable. Shahla was our server. She was assisted by other wait staff who were also very professional. I could tell by Shahla’s interaction with us and the manner in which she served our dinners that she is exceptionally skilled in the art of fine dining. I have not experienced that level of restaurant service in a very long time. I am originally from Hawaii and remember excellent fine dining experiences back in the 1990’s. Times have changed and the art of fine dining has waned. I want to thank Shahla, Chef Ibrahim (I hope the spelling is correct) and the rest of the staff at Niazi’s Restaurant for an unforgettable dining experience and for keeping the art of fine dining alive.

This is a great little restaurant. The breakfast for two was amazing. Service is friendly too. The menu is huge with a wide selection of food and different drinks. Wide selection of teas, coffees and juices. The dessert menu looks great too. Very reasonably priced. Check it out.

I ordered food and I am vegetarian so the only option I had was Nicosia salad which had beans and egg and tuna, I received the salad without egg and beans and I walked back to the restaurant and they ingnore to give me the right salad!!! They said you ate from YES of course I did because I tried to find to eat the tuna but my son told me where is the egg and beans… I am a tourist here for 2 weeks from Canada which I am so surprised for this customer service!!! I tried talk to the manager but no one show up!!

Niazi branch in Famagusta, nice spacious restaurant. Great food and great service. Recommend the mixed mezze and mixed grillls

Niazi's has got to be the best restaurant chain in Kibris. Both the Magusa and Girne branches offer consistently excellent food. Their signature full kebab is always a great experience. However, you must also explore their a la carte menu to truly appreciate quite how good they are. Also great value for food of this quality.
John U — Google review
We had great expectations for this place. But everything wasn’t up to expectations. Food wasn’t as great. It was just there. Hospitality too wasn’t as great. I mean Turkish restaurants give you bread or something before the meal, so wouldn’t seem like a long wait. They didn’t give us any. So Yh we waited a while for food.
