Cawdor Castle, a 14th-century fortress that is linked to Shakespeare's Macbeth as the Thane of Cawdor, boasts a drawbridge, tapestries and beautiful gardens. The castle offers an informative tour with an audio option and visitors can enjoy coffee, cakes and a playground on site. The grounds are stunning with fragrant lavender and ample parking available. Inside the castle is equally impressive with plenty to explore.
Really enjoy our visit to this castle. The gardens were absolute gorgeous, full of beautiful blooming flowers. Children will definitely enjoy the little play park, a short walk from the gardens Castle was full of interesting information and plenty to see and do. Slight wait to get on but we arrived on a very busy day We enjoyed some delicious soup and bread from the cafe. Lovely place and will definitely be back😁

Enjoyed this place. It is gloriously understated, especially when compared to other stately homes (and occupied castles) and yet remained regal, pleasant and interesting to visit. There were no vulgar displays of excessive wealth found in so many. Audio guide was good. Garden wasn't in the prime largely due to my arrival in the later part of September.
Chris N — Google review
very impressive castle and gardens ..definitely a must see when visiting inverness...This fortification founded by William the Lion in 1179 was sited to command the ford over the river Nairn near the sea. That castle has since vanished without trace. The family had another residence at Old Calder which, according to the Exchequer accounts, was last repaired in 1398. Again, not much remains of that building apart from faint crop-marks. A new, more efficient site was chosen. The imposing, rectangular tower-house consisted of four storeys and a garret with only one entrance to the outside world. Repaired and enlarged every century since, the Castle as you see it today is a family home like no other
Warren B — Google review
Really well organised castle and gardens. This is a real castle where the owners live in for the good part of the year and you can feel it. Modern "tour guide" technology in different languages is another advantage. Much better experience than the average medieval castle.
Stefan S — Google review
Lovely Castle to walk around with lots of interesting history. We spent around 2 hours there and also had some lunch at the cafe which had delicious apple juice made from the apples in their orchard and a selection of vegan cakes. Super friendly staff who were happy to answer all questions. Gardens were beautiful!
Poppy G — Google review
Excellent visitor attraction and a great day out. The castle is well preserved and still occupied by the descendants of the original Thane of Cawdor. Rich in history and interesting to explore. The gardens and grounds are beautiful. Highly recommend this castle if you are visiting the area. Cafe and gift shop on site.
Claire L — Google review
Plenty of parking, beautiful castle and interesting history. Complimentary audio tour was easy to use. Cafe was good. Loved wandering around the gardens, which were very peaceful to sit in.

A lovely glimpse into the history & life cycle of a castle that is still lived in. Interesting Self guided audio tour and informational panels very well done, extremely friendly docents spaced throughout. Go early as it does get very busy. Beautiful grounds to explore as well.

Cocktail bar
The Classroom Bistro, located on Cawdor Street, offers a warm and welcoming atmosphere where you can enjoy freshly prepared food and a variety of drinks including an extensive cocktail list and local beers. The bistro is known for serving some of the best Highland beef steaks in town. While the service may not be super fast, the staff are kind and accommodating, making it a great spot for those with allergies.
Great little find in Nairn Food was fantastic, service was wonderful. My husband and I both had the roast beef so delicious, I had apple crumble and salted caramel ice cream and a Pornstar Martini as it is my birthday the chef had even written happy Birthday on my desert plate. Great bonus was our dog was welcomed given treats and water.
Amanda S — Google review
Love this location, a bit slow on service, but amazing food and perfect for our party for lunch. Haggis tacos, steak and cheese sandwiches, soups, and the amazing hummus portobello burger all graced our table. Wasn't anything on our party's order that wasn't enjoyed!

The Classroom Bistro exceeded all our expectations. The ingredients were top-quality and every dish was perfectly prepared and cooked. Our entire family loved every bite. Special thanks to the owner and chef for creating such an exceptional dining experience. Their dedication to quality really shows in the outstanding food and service. Thank you & God bless you and your family 😊

We visited the classroom bistro on a Tuesday afternoon and it was quite busy so I would recommend pre booking. We enjoyed the food and drinks but I would say it is a little over priced for what you get. Staff where fine and bistro had nice decor.

I loved the classroom bistro. The atmosphere was lively but chilled at the same time, there was good music playing but you could still talk easily. The service was really good and the food was amazing. I had a burger which was really nice, and my boyfriend had a spicy bean burger which he said was delicious, it came with the nicest coleslaw I've ever tasted 😋. I loved the decor! Would definitely go back!! We went there for mine and my boyfriends birthday.

After having experienced poor service at The Sun Dancer I explored Nairn and found this gem. The staff were attentive and the food excellent. My first Cullen Skink and the Moray Haddock were amazing. I since discovered these two establishments are linked but the experience was chalk and cheese. The Classroom I’d definitely return to.

Lovely lunch date out. Food was amazing 😍 definitely go back the staff where lovely specially Ella took great care of us 🥰 very recommend pudding definitely was the star of the show 😮‍💨
Amiee M — Google review
There is a lot to like about this place, the food is very good but I must say I thought the starters and puddings were not great value for money, the mains were though. Great cocktails and a good wine list with prices you would expect. Unfortunately we were put onto a small table close to the toilets door and although they are upstairs there was a smell of cleaning products. The disabled toilet was not upstairs or locked so people were using it a fair bit and they wasn't a great experience. The place was busy and the staff handled it very well, it's a bustling place so not for a quiet romantic meal, at least not where we sat which is also close to the bar.

The Nairn Golf Club

4.7
(233)
Golf club
The Nairn Golf Club, established in 1887 and designed by Archie Simpson with later extensions by Old Tom Morris, offers a fantastic golfing experience with stunning seaside views at every hole. The course is known for its tricky greens and cunningly short holes, providing a variety of challenges for players. Situated along the links of the Moray Firth, it has been recognized as one of Scotland's top 100 courses.
Nice Golf course⛳️👀 With Good history Set on the Coastline In a Nice area. The Fairways were Nice & bumpy with some Nice roll on them But the Greens wasnt in Good shape🫣For this time off the year I was Very disappointed As Other Courses In the area Were all a lot better🤔😤😉Nice Clubhouse and Staff.🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿👍🏻

Good finish on my Scottish golf tour. This was my last course and it fully test my skills. Strong headwind on front nine impossible score for me. However back nine it helped a lot. Good quality and variety of holes. Quite fast greens. Great views. Love the halfway house. Definetely top 3 of my trip. Hole 14 signature hole for me.
Milan B — Google review
The Nairn Golf Club is a classic Highland links course that delivers authenticity, challenge, and charm in equal measure. Set along the Moray Firth, the course offers stunning coastal views from nearly every hole. The front nine hugs the shoreline, with the sea constantly in play and the wind demanding strategic shot-making. The back nine turns slightly inland, with tighter fairways and subtle elevation changes. The layout is fair but tests every aspect of your game—particularly your ability to control ball flight in the breeze. Conditioning is excellent, with firm, fast-running fairways and true, quick greens. While less talked about than nearby Castle Stuart or Royal Dornoch, Nairn holds its own with heritage and character. It hosted the 1999 Walker Cup, a testament to its championship pedigree. Nairn is a welcoming club with a warm, traditional Scottish atmosphere—and a round here feels like a true pilgrimage for lovers of pure links golf.
MAX K — Google review
This was the first course my friends and I went to play while visiting Scotland for whisky and golf. From the moment we stepped into the clubhouse and enjoyed the incredible views from this historical, seaside club, we knew we had made the right choice. The service was outstanding from the moment we arrived. But it was the course itself that had my friends and I relishing every moment. The historic ice house you visit for refreshments as you circle toward the back nine is very special, too. If you’re even a rare golfer and near this club, be sure not to miss The Nairn Golf Club. You’ll be glad you did.

One of the best Golf courses I've ever played. Nairn is ranked in the top 50 courses in UK and Ireland and is a must visit for all Golfers. The course is incredible, the clubhouse has superb facilities and Nairn two itself is a beauty! There is an archive room that can be visited with a prior appointment, I'd highly recommend it too!! 5 stars!!
Andy P — Google review
This may have been my favorite course in Scotland (although I've only played 3). The history is amazing; be sure to ask for the 30 minute tour of their clubhouse with old relics and mementos. The gorse was in bloom which made it so much more scenic. The half way house after the 9th hole has so much character. I wouldn't hesitate to play this again in the future.
Rick C — Google review
One of the best courses I've played in Scotland, loved every hole. Not only is the course challenging each hole feels different so it is a very entertaining round. The course is stunning with many holes giving a beautiful view of the bay. Can't rate this course higher and excellent day of golf and would love to return one day to play again.
Craig R — Google review
Great course close to Inverness and very friendly staff. You reserve a tee time online which is very convenient. It's a true links course and has a great design. The halfway house good with toilets, food and drinks. We had great weather in August.

Unbelievable value for money, brilliant breakfast and very accommodating and friendly staff.

We had been watching the basking sharks from early morning and fancied a cooked breakfast. We googled and found Cafe Nairn. The three of us ordered our food and didn't have to wait long. My egg, bacon, sausage, tomato and toast was perfectly cooked. In fact it was the best cooked breakfast I had had in ages. I couldn't believe that for 2 adults and a child the total bill was £16. We went back! I can't recommend this cafe highly enough.

This is one of many cafes in Nairn, this was my first visit. I had enjoyed a nice long walk and thought I deserved a big breakfast. What I really liked was that you can choose what you would like. You also get a cup of tea as part of the deal. The cafe is nice enough inside and the service was quick and efficient. I was well fed I really enjoyed my breakfast and will probably come another day.

Uncle Bob's Bar is a charming neighborhood spot that offers a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. It's known for its fantastic and cheap drinks, as well as the cheerful and accommodating bar staff. The locals are friendly, making it easy to strike up conversations and make new friends. While they don't serve food, the focus on creating a warm and inviting environment makes it an ideal place to relax with a few drinks.
A real hidden gem. Nothing fancy about the interior but the staff and clientele are friendly and welcoming. We are local, but got talking to several people visiting from overseas, which I found quite remarkable for a bar tucked away in an upstairs room on the high street 😊

If you base your judgment on the appearance of a book, then this establishment is perfect for you. Its branding is excellent, and as soon as you step inside the tastefully decorated restaurant, you'll be impressed. The food here is fresh and healthy, with minimal use of oils or fats. The naan bread is always freshly made, leaving diners satisfied with their choices. The waiting staff are incredibly friendly and helpful.
Delicious food and excellent service. Such friendly and helpful staff too. Excellent knowledge about gluten free requirements of our group. Thank you

Food wasn’t very good and was overpriced the service from the two girls working was very good but the owner/waiter was very rude and just wanted us in and out. A morgue would have a better atmosphere to be honest.

Was coming back to Aberdeen from Inverness , felt hungry and needing a quick food , bump in to this place for food . Didn’t buy varieties of food , just a lamb biriyani, not extraordinary but it was very good , delicious not too spicy 🌶️, it’s Halaal place . Service was good but price for biriyani is £19.00 felt but expensive may be having difficulties to buy the ingredients. Menu is very simple not complicated like other places . Diffidently going back again. Recommend
Rizan R — Google review
Food was excellent, couldn't fault it at all. The waiting staff were polite, but not the best. There was zero atmosphere in the place, but it was 5.30pm on a Sunday to be fair. Terrible cover versions of popular songs being played in the background which did nothing for the atmosphere. Worth it for the food though.
Graeme B — Google review
Excellent service and good food! The four of us came on bikes and asked if we could put them somewhere in back as we had no locks. The lovely lady let us keep them at the back of the restaurant behind the bar, so we could relax and enjoy the food.
Haris — Google review
Wasn't amazing. Had a takeaway from here a year ago and quality seems to have dropped somewhat. Very quick delivery which was good. I had Achari which was billed as very hot, it was unbelievably mild, I think the Keema Rice had more heat than the curry. Naans were good but the wifes CT Masala was pretty bland compared to usual back home. Will try elsewhere next time we're up here.
Nick C — Google review
Horribly overpriced for unpleasant basic food. The "dhal" was inedible watery lentil soup with some cheap curry powder through it. We raised this as a concern, and were told this is what was on the menu and was what we ordered. We sent back the food and were made to pay for it anyway. Avoid.

Had a takeaway, and we thought it was pretty good. Nice to see some options other than the standard "curry house offerings" (e.g. Tiger Khan, which was very enjoyable)

Really glad we stopped here, the food was amazing and staff were so friendly. The blackpudding scotch eggs were to die for and the carrots were so tasty I could have eaten them on there own. The parfait was absolutely delicious and so was the lemon meringue. Dog friendly too which is a bonus

We've visited the Tavern twice in the last ten days. The Sunday roast was delicious. On our lunchtime visit we thoroughly enjoyed the venison toad in the hole and cauliflower Dahl followed by Brackla Whiskey Parfait. All delicious and thoroughly enjoyed. However, was very sad to learn that the Culloden Chicken had been removed from the menu. Keith & Lorraine S

We dined at Cawdor Tavern as a part of a tour group. We found the food, service, and atmosphere to be good. As a starter, I enjoyed the Venison Sausage - which were excellent. My girlfriend had the Smoked Mackeral Pate, which she enjoyed. We both enjoyed the lemon sole for our main entree, vwry good. For dessert, I enjoyed the Raspberry Cranachan and my girlfriend had the Lemon Cheesecake, which she said tasted more like Chiffon Pie. The service was good and the atmosphere left no doubt that you were in Scotland.

Golf View Hotel & Spa is a stately hotel located in Nairn, offering elegant rooms with sea views and upscale dining options. The hotel boasts a coastal spa that provides a calming environment, while the Hickory Restaurant serves locally sourced Scottish produce with stunning views. Situated on the Moray Firth, the hotel is perfect for adrenaline seekers interested in water activities or exploring the rugged countryside.
Best spa I have been to. Absolutely beautiful location and the staff were all great. Lunch was lovely and it was so nice to have a wide variety to choose from. Often on these spa days the lunch is quite poor. I had a body massage and facial treatment and the facial was the best I have had. And a bonus point for the robes. They were lovely and big so you could wrap up in them 😁 highly recommend and we will be back. Thanks

I stayed there last week with a group of 8 for a golf trip. Our stay was exceptional. The hotel is and old classic building that has been well maintained. The rooms were large and in good condition with very nice views of the Firth. The staff was pleasant and helpful throughout our stay. We had dinner one night and breakfast each morning and the food and service were very good. The location right is the water really makes this hotel special. I would definitely stay there again the next time I'm in the Highlands.

Such a beautiful place. I visited the spa and it was sensational. From start to finish I had an amazing experience. After searching for a good spa this was exactly what I needed, the lunch food menu was fantastic, so many options I was spoilt for choice. My only 2 wishes would be a drink was included in the lunch package as food is included but no drinks which I did find odd however more than happy to pay for a drink. It was definitely worth it. The other wish would be a different locker system, it was difficult to operate ( another group of women also had same issues with lockers) and they were also quite small. However this is totally nitpicking because the spa made it for it 100% The outdoor hot tub was definitely my favourite with the sea view ! And the indoor pool was fabulous. If I am ever visiting the highlands again, I’ll definitely be back !

Fantastic day trip to the spa. The staff were polite and went above and beyond. We were given robes and showed around the facilities to begin with. The thermal treatment and salt therapy room was brilliant as was the outdoor hot tub with a beach view. The pool area was well kept, comfortable and warm with plenty seating options. Complimentary water and herbal teas were available at all times in the relaxation room. Had a wonderful relaxing experience.

Never fails to disappoint. I love coming here to get away from the city and get some work done. The service is always very kind, attentive and considerate. Nothing is ever too much hustle for them. Not only that; they use initiative and go above and beyond to make you feel welcome. I have certainly felt this way each time. PS thank you for the cheesecake, it really made my afternoon :-)

I’m trying to give this hotel the benefit of the doubt. I have attempted to enjoy it on several occasions due to its magnificent views, however after visiting on numerous occasions and reading the great reviews on Google I often think who are these people comparing the food to? Not anything that’s a decent standard clearly! After the sixth visit I have yet again been disappointed service is slow with waiting staff not actually knowing the details of the menu let alone accommodating people with allergens, after waiting about 15 minutes to be seated, I then entered the dining room whether there are only two tables seated both of whom were already eating I was then sat in the very worst Table in the restaurant in the conservatory almost in the car park maybe it was because I was a female dining alone instead of feeling welcome. I felt ostracised, Something that I am not used to considering I eat out as a single female all the time. I decided to order two starters a prawn cocktail and the Salt-& pepper calamari the Salt & pepper calamari has never seen Salt & pepper although decently presented. I really don’t understand why chefs that are clearly not Asian trained insist on trying to cook dishes they simply can’t.. the prawn cocktail was basic to say the least with two pieces of baby gem lettuce and a wedge of lemon to accompany it and not a piece of bread in sight, I was then charged a side £5 for Bread to a company this; the prawn cocktail was already £9 not excessive I know but given the serving coupled with the lack of bread it was a £14 starter.. The glass of Gavi was reasonably priced at £10. Although did not show until 10 minutes after my food, The waiters excuse was unfortunately we are quite busy today. I looked around and thought you have no idea of what working in a Busy restaurant is! I Feel this hotel is resting on its laurels of location decor and scenery All of which they have in abundance. The staff are friendly, however, not attentive And definitely not worth a service charge 10% when you have to wait 40 minutes for a glass of white wine, especially when your food comes out before your drinks an the Waiter doesn’t notice. To top it off my bill was incorrect and I was charged an extra £4 which was then justified by the manager until pointing out the correct pricing on the menu. No apology was offered just a new bill presented with the correct price And yes, I paid the 10% service. I like this hotel. I do wish the management would get things in order and they actually step up and deliver the food that their awarded rosettes suggest.

While the cleaning crew seemed to actually put in some effort, that's where the positives end. The owner clearly doesn't give a damn about the guests or the state of the hotel. They were rude, dismissive, and acted like we were inconveniencing them by being there. The rest of the staff weren't much better – clueless, unhelpful, and seemed actively annoyed whenever we asked for anything. It's like they held a contest to see who could provide the worst customer service. Avoid this place like the plague unless you enjoy being treated like garbage. Please avoid this place at all that was my last time ever. !!

For day 2, we recommend exploring the north side side of town. Start the day off with Nairn Beach, then wind down and take it easy by the time you get to Nairn Community & Arts Centre. All together, your day would be filled with about 8 hours of non-stop fun.

Outdoor Activities
Nairn Beach, located in the historic fishing town of Nairn, is a perfect destination for a family holiday. The beach offers clean sand and various activities such as promenade walks, putting green, leisure park, and swimming pool. This seaside town on the Moray Firth has been popular since Victorian times and serves as an ideal base for exploring the Highlands with opportunities for walking, cycling, water sports, local events, and golfing.
Peaceful and calm beach , very clean and beautiful beach , lovely local people we met ! Perfect for a peaceful yoga morning , cold dip and swimming in the sea ! Very tranquil atmosphere! Lovely ice cream shop just 2 mins away, cafe is also 2mins walk, have a good size playground 🛝 near the cafe , highly recommend for family activities!

A beautiful beach. Moray Firth views. Great for the kids, walking, dog walking, reading a book or just relaxing. At various points there are opportunities to come off for cold or warm refreshments and a bite to eat at the many first class establishments around Nairn. There’s also a playground and a couple of really nice places for ice cream around the links (which has a car park too). Watch out for the crabs and jellyfish!
David S — Google review
it's just simply beautiful! There were alot of people there, but you could still find a bench to sit and watch the day go by

This beach is simply spectacular, came here on the clearest of clear days. And I wish I could've stayed all day. It goes on for miles, & it's such a peaceful outstanding place to be. Plenty of nice cafes around, & Parkdean resort isn't too far away from here if you want to grab something to eat from one of their local restaurants.

Fantastic beaches with harbour and restaurants. Seafood bar. Large play area for thr kids.
Ian F — Google review
I found one small and lovely place. From centre town is easy to arrive in large parking area with open space for play ⚽ or relax. Also beautifully landscaped walking trails connect with the riverside trail.

Beautiful beach just a few minutes walk from our b&b. Lots of different pathway options and little shelters for passing rain. Bring your shell jacket; always a stiff wind and chance of precipitation.

Sun Dancer, Bar and Restaurant is a popular spot among locals and tourists alike. The first-floor restaurant offers stunning views of the town and beach, making it an ideal choice for a sunset dinner. The menu features a variety of options including seafood and generous portions. Guests have praised the friendly and professional service as well as the extensive drink selection, which includes non-alcoholic beverages. The staff is attentive, ensuring a pleasant dining experience with fantastic food in a brilliant setting.
Hello good people, after reading a few bad comments about the restaurant I decided to take a chance...especially since I wouldn't have liked to go to a pub. I was very pleasantly surprised by the atmosphere inside, I got a table by the window, with a view of the city. From the starter I was very satisfied with the taste, then the rest came and until the end everything went perfectly. The staff at the beginning was kind and towards the end much friendlier. Being on vacation on the last day in Nairn it was also the best choice to end the vacation. Thank you for ending our vacation more pleasantly. Good luck in the future!❤️

Was welcomed immediately on arrival by very polite lady at desk who showed us to our seats and brought water to the table. The food was excellent and the views from inside the restaurant were amazing. Felt the service was rather slow and felt I should have ordered two drinks instead of one to keep me going!! Staff were very polite and friendly though and it is a really nice place to eat with a relaxed atmosphere. Would definitely recommend

It was a lovely place to visit. Upstairs is an amazing view the menu is a restaurant, where as down stairs is more cafe style, the prices Upstairs are more of course. It has a nice airy feel to the place. The staff are all very helpful and friendly. My slight issue was we ordered cheese burger and they forgot the cheese, not the end of the world, but we told staff and they went and got 2 plates with cheese to add ourselves, I would expect this to be done by the kitchen, not a great standard of customer care. The food was nice, and the chips had a great crunch to them. Overall, it was a nice lunch. I would try again. Service 6/10 due to cheese. Food 7/10 General ambience 9/10 View 10/10 Toilets 8/10 Definitely worth a look

Service was slow (2 hours for a dinner for 2) and the restaurant only had about 6 tables seated. The view is very nice and the staff was very friendly. The only complaint I would have is that it took a very long time to receive our food. When the food did arrive though it was delicious.
Sean M — Google review
We stopped in part for a lunch as this was someplace we have wanted to visit for some time and we got in. As it was lunchtime we only had one course, I had moules et frites( mussels and chips) served in Thai green curry, excellent light and fresh with just a hint of heat and my wife had seafood linguine also good with a hint of heat. Staff were very friendly and helpful, even though we were a little later for a lunch serving and the place was quiet. It was well worth its reputation and the stop was good and well worth doing. I’m only giving a four for atmosphere as it was nearly empty by. The time we were there.
David M — Google review
We stopped at the downstairs cafe for lunch, sitting outside, which was very pleasant. Very overpriced though for the haddock bites and chips, was the size of a kids meal, very pale undercooked chips. Lady who brought our food out was lovely, but the one who served us was quite miserable and didn’t seem to want to serve me.
Lindsey B — Google review
July 2025 Sadly haven't changed my opinion. Food portions very small. Service friendly enough but clearly inexperienced...they tried to serve us 3 out of 4 meals and said we would have to wait for the remaining meal. Absolutely not!!!! Meals sent back until all ready at once. On the plus side the wines appear to be slightly cheaper. Think it's stingy that they don't give you complimentary bread. Only 6 choices on the menu and very limiting if you don't like fish or curry.....you need to have something for everyone. The only thing this place has going for it is the view! July 2024 First time since new owners and not impressed. Management not on the ball....servers didn't know who was doing what , or what was in items, service was fast and felt rushed. No plain classics for those that don't like oil , garlic or chilli !!! Previously you were served water and home made bread on arrival....new owners want to charge you £5.50 for basket of bread !!! Whole ambience was noisy and clattery, but it was very busy.... despite eating early. Menu seems to be reduced from previous....wine is extortionate at £8.50 and £9.00 per glass. Seabass was a small portion and very oily, had cheese plate to fill up which was very good but expensive at £16. To be honest we went home and had Cereals!!! Dec 2022 Festive menu limited but tasty and well presented as usual, we find the dessert menu always a bit limited, . needs some classics ( i.e. cheesecake and a plain chocolate dessert) and an ice cream sundae! veggie selection also limited compared to other restaurants in the area. Service excellent as usual but we have found that the drinks and wine menu has got so expensive in the past year or so, £30 for a bottle of Shiraz is outrageous and the cheapest bottle around £24, glass prices àre also creeping up. Its getting to be too expensive to have a glass of wine with a meal . Returned March 2023.....all of the above seemed to have been addressed good menu choices, Good puddings and some more reasonably priced wines...? Well done sundancer keep it up,

Great find! The restaurant is beautiful, from the moment we opened the door we were greeted with a friendly warm team. Great choice of beers, wines, cocktails. Our food was really good, olives, bread to start. Pigeon, cured trout, pork & duck all were very tasty! We will definitely return here. A very well run restaurant floor!

Meanwhile, Cafe Nairn situated just a few doors away provides a warm and friendly atmosphere for those seeking a quick coffee or indulging in delightful pastries.
One of the best dining experiences ever!! Tapas themed with lots of sharing plates coming thick and fast from the super talented chef and kitchen staff, service was brilliant, really relaxed chill out vibes too, it's a long way from home but if I got within 50 miles of Nairn again - this would be getting booked 😀

Seriously, one of the nicest meals we have had. We chose wine flights in order to sample a variety, and we weren't disappointed - they were superb. We had a selection of the Asian-influenced tapas dishes, and they too were superb - the standard of cooking here is absolutely brilliant. With friendly service and a great atmosphere we loved it. If we could give 6 stars we would!

Excellent set up extremely pleasant and very helpful staff as in I said to the lady at the desk this is my first time here. The Cullen Skink here was really amazing and the staff was very conscientious and attentive about food allergies. Definitely a great stop for lunch. Be forewarned the little canister with the white plastic nozzle lid is NOT SUGAR that is SALT DON'T ADD IT TO YOUR CAPPUCCINO don't make the mistakes that I made. The salted cappuccino was obviously my fault and not the staff which is why I'm still giving them five stars.

I cant review directly as we weren't able to secure a seat, however we are reviewing based on the attitude of the staff. We asked if there was a seat available and we were met with "no tables free" we weren't offered to wait. 15 minutes later we went back, and there were empty tables inside but now people sat outside who'd just reserved a table inside! Why they didn't offer us this same service i have no idea. Perhaps as we weren't local? We undestand they were busy but at least have some common courtesy.

Takeout Restaurant
The overall experience at Mr Tan's takeout restaurant was not the favorite. The special fried rice had too much moisture and included limp cabbage and other vegetables, which was unexpected based on the menu description. However, the large and plump prawns in the dish were a positive aspect. Unfortunately, the fried rice itself lacked flavor as it was poorly seasoned and tasted bland without the desired umami taste found in good fried rice.
Great food and very friendly staff. I will be back for more. Thanks guys!

This has been my usual Chinese takeaway of choice when visiting Nairn every year. The staff are nice and service is quick but this most recent visit was not up to standard food-wise. Salt Spicy Shedd (Salt & Chilli/Pepper Shredded Chicken) was terrible. Chewy. Hard. Not recommended. Barbecued Ribs were okay. Strange orange coloured ‘sauce’ was decent to have with the Singapore Fried Rice which was good. Chips were meh! Crackers were stale.
David S — Google review
Worst Chinese we have had in a long time…staff were unwelcoming ….special fried rice was drenched in sauce and hardly any rice …chicken balls were lukewarm and chips were overcooked and tasteless

The seafood is also highly recommended, served piping hot with a good quality pizza. Customers have praised the friendly staff and clean environment, despite having to wait a little for their orders.
Wonderful experience at The Castaway. Owner was cheerful and kind, served us right away and we received our food no later then 5 minutes after. Good pricing and portions, and a great atmosphere. Couldn't recommend any more.

Overall took over 30 minutes for my order as someone had the cheek to take my order after they had only just came in. No sign of a genuine apology and not even any sign of any refund. Glad my holiday is coming to a end. Wouldn't recommend to anyone looking for somewhere for a chippie tea

Visited whilst staying at Nairn Lochloy. Great value for money as a family of four. The staff were friendly and made sure they had our order right. Taking it back to our site, it was still hot and tasted great. Will definitely use again before home time.

The chips are really good! I'd like an option of sea salt and black pepper at the counter. My friend had garlic mayo and he said it was absolutely delicious. The fish was not oily.
Anne F — Google review
Batter and fish was rubbery and very fishy smelling to average “chippy fish”. The thin and crispy pizza was deep pan, cold and not as specified. Generally not great unfortunately. Hopefully just teething issues but definitely a decline in quality since changing hands.

Staff were great, place was tidy and clean, food was tasty but the batter on the fish was soggy and the chips stuck to the papper to where it was a fight to get them off, peas were nice but the gravy was disappointing, the chips that were free from the paper was very tasty though. Portion was ok but felt it was a bit pricey for the size. Over all ok but a few little changes it could be good

Located in Nairn, Strathnairn Beach Cafe is a popular spot offering a variety of food options including breakfast rolls, homemade soup, fish tacos, pulled pork buns, hot drinks and ice creams. The cafe has indoor and outdoor seating with nearby parking. Visitors recommend the hake burger and pork tacos while praising the generous prawn salad box. The menu is diverse and not your typical cafe fare.
Simple perfection - Strathnairn Beach Cafe serves up great ice cream in an unbeatable beachside setting. Great for families with makies and a decent menu with good options for everyone. Perfect spot after a great walk on the beach, and the kids will love the lovely playground nearby.

Perfectly situated at the links along the main path at the beachfront next to the splash pad in front of the cricket ground. It seems to be a popular spot even when the rest of Nairn seems fairly quiet. The food is very good. Maybe not quite my thing with the salsa. The pork shoulder was decent. Maybe needed a little more chipotle mayo. Chips were pretty good. I’ll try the fish dishes next time but I can see why people are drawn to it as it’s different from the standard seaside outlets who only sell fish and chips. Plenty of tables outside including a few hiding round the back (depending on how you’ve approached you might not notice). A tad on the expensive side. For a pork taco, small chips and a can of irn bru it was £15.95 - but I guarantee you will enjoy it. Order at the window on the right and wait for your ticket number to be called when it’s ready. They’ll bring it out or at least leave it on the designated table at the door. Remember to throw any spare change in the charity box! Service was also rapid! Definitely worth a visit.
