Casino Espinho, established in 1974, is a renowned entertainment hub in Portugal. The casino boasts an array of dining options and offers various gaming tables and slot machines. Visitors can enjoy live performances and cabaret shows while savoring a buffet dinner with a modern setting and delectable seafood options. The casino's spacious layout includes numerous slot machines, although some guests desire more variety. Despite the slightly outdated decor, the venue exudes an elegant and luxurious ambiance.
We didn't win but it was a very nice casino and had a good time while on vacation
Marco U — Google review
This is the best casino in Portugal in my opinion, especially for poker. The blonde lady who runs all the poker is really helpful and friendly. There are good tournaments here and loads of cash tables. Even the dealers are friendly. Good vibe
Adam M — Google review
Good Atmosphere and very big area. They have a lot of slots but the most are with jackpots and very difficult. I would like to that more diversity. The bar at the entrance is very beautiful and the drinks tasted well.
Cindy O — Google review
This is the worst casino I ever been too!! And I am an avid gambler! STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE FOR YOUR OWN GOOD!! Playing blackjack dealer got an ace showing I'm assuming she is gonna look at her down card to see if she has blackjack already but she doesn't so that was odd, so we proceed to play so they dealt me two aces so I obviously split the aces get another ace now I got 3 aces, first hand i get 14, second hand i get 21, third hand i get 21...now it's the dealers turn she flips her undercard and it's a 10...and they tell me I lose all 3 hands...wooooow. I never ever in my 20 plus years of playing blackjack ever heard of no idiotic rules like that. It's such a disadvantage for the players that it should be illegal!! They are taking advantage of the people, not fair at all!! I visited Sunday night may 18 2025. And on top of that after I lose the host asks me to pay for his meal! I was in complete awe! Casino regulators need to take a close look at what they are doing there! Absurd!! On top of that the staff is soo rude and unwelcoming. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!!
Atlanta S — Google review
Played blackjack here. went from 80 euros to 200 euros in about 40 mins of playing. Sat up to move to another table as this french man was being loud, disruptive and annoying (this was throwing me off my game) sat at another table which after two hands he also moved to my table. After a couple more hands he said i was an advantage player which i replied to how on a CSM (continuous shuffling machine) table 😂 anyways right after he said that i started losing every hand, even when i went back to the previous table i was at. call it superstition, call it paranoia or whatever you want but something definitely felt rigged after that. the place looks alright, a bit outdated but honestly if you wanna have fun with 50-100 euros do so! jus don’t expect to have a heater for a long time. out of esphino and lisbon, lisbon definitely got its hat off from me.
Rafael R — Google review
Had 3 nights in the casino. Bar service is good, not free like some casinos but good value price . Ate a couple of nicely cooked sandwiches. Good bar staff and croupiers, my girlfriend actually enjoyed this casino at the bar while I played.

The Casino was fine, the food in the Jokers Lounge was "passable". I had a steak the first time. Asked for well done but had to send it back as it was still pink inside. Had the Bond Burger the second time. Very little meat. LOTS of bun. Fries were good. I didn't win 😢

A walking trail to Granja is also available. This beautiful beach features palm trees and numerous nearby restaurants, offering a great view and an amazing spot to watch the sunset. While it's ideal for early morning walks when it's less crowded, swimmers should be cautious of strong currents and cold waters.
Perfect place for families and friends groups to spend relaxing time. Outstanding views and blue sea will definitely catch your eyes. Reccomended for tourists 💯

If you're tired of removing sand from your skin after swimming but still want to enjoy the water, consider visiting Piscina Solário Atlântico's swimming pools. They offer both indoor and outdoor options, with the water sourced directly from the sea. For a nominal fee, you can also access additional amenities such as a sauna and various services.
Good place to enjoy yourself

The pool is treated salted water from the sea. The pool itself is massive and there’s a deep end, shallow end and a separate pool for babies/children. The lifeguards are also friendly and you’re allowed to jump in to the pool. You need to pay extra to have sun loungers or a table with chairs but there’s benches placed around one side of the pool that are completely free. There’s a cafe inside with a great variety of food and drink. Staff are friendly. It’s also great that this place allows you in with your own food and drink. We visited this place about 4 times within a month, I honestly recommend it to anyone who prefers pool over the beach. The only downfall about this place is the toilets. They’re completely broken, run-down and there is never any toilet roll. They’re so disgusting. Recommendations: - Toilets need a massive upgrade and/or to be well maintained and cleaned. - Unused/empty area at the top could use with some benches/chairs/sun-loungers.
Gabriela R — Google review
Staff not very helpful. Very tired in need of renovation. Nearly falling apart, which is a shame as it has a great potential for good swimming pool especially with it's history. Need to be saved and invested in.

Diners rave about the generous portions; many dishes are perfect for sharing.
Great seafood on the beach. Top level service. We had the biggest tiger shrimp I've ever seen. As big as Maine lobster. We also had pasta class and shrimp and the pasta was tasted homemade. We will be back soon.
Daniel K — Google review
We ordered a sea food rice but I must confess we didn’t like much… the rice was on a pool of liquid and overcooked and barely no seafood to compensate that… on top of that it has a excessive flavor to cilantro… was really invasive and inappropriate. Desserts were good, though. Service was good and kind and the ambient a little bit noisy.
Hugo G — Google review
The food was very, very good – we were really surprised! It tasted great but was a bit too oily. The service was friendly, but sometimes not very attentive. Still, we enjoyed it a lot and would come back.

One of the best dinner and service in my life. Fresh fish melted in my mouth, was soft like a cloud, big portion for 2 persons, amazing wine. Waiter was very attentive to us and very kind. Nestled in a charming spot, Gelataria Esquimó offers a delightful experience that feels like home. The friendly and attentive staff create an inviting atmosphere where you can indulge in an array of delicious ice cream flavors, each one better than the last. Don't miss out on their gofra topped with creamy vanilla ice cream—it's simply divine! Coffee lovers will also appreciate the quality brews available here.
Really friendly, helpful staff and homely family run feel to the place. We tried nearly every ice cream 🍨flavour and they're all really good. The gofra are great with a blob of vanilla ice cream. Great coffee too. Really was the best ice cream we had in Portugal and the staff go the extra mile with attention to detail and good conversation. Fantastic place for a coffee and catch up and you can watch ⚽ too if it's on. Friendly and welcoming, family oriented place just what you need after a day out or on the beach. Good prices too. We'll definitely be back 👍🍨👍
Emma M — Google review
The quality of the food and service here has gone down tremendously over the years. Their WC was also not in a good state. They take for granted their good historical reputation and location, and have given up actually caring about the quality. We waited over 20 minutes for a menu, and over 40 minutes for a waffle that was broken in pieces and tasted stale. This is the second time I've been disappointed. Will not return for a third. Management should have a good think about how to make changes moving into 2025
Cindy S — Google review
The service is poor, the prices are ridiculously expensive, the toilets are a disgrace. My son ordered a strawberry ice cream cocktail and almost the entire serving was chantilly instead of ice cream for 10 damn euros. We ordered to go and They give a mini sized spoon to use with a huge takeaway cup..wont see us again
Jonny B — Google review
I ordered the crepe with chocolate and strawberries. It arrived quickly however there were practically no strawberries and the chocolate was also sparse. For 8€ too. I do not think it's worth coming here unless you are having the adequately priced waffles. Also the toilets were not working 😔
Ana L — Google review
Nice Sundays, great location, outdated toilets but very clean. We totally would come back.

Great waffles for good price. People will come in huge groups though, which is not very nice at this time. Still a good place to grab a bite by the beach.

Guests have expressed no regrets about their experience and describe it as outstanding and fantastic. The food is delicious, the place is scenic, and the staff is very friendly. Very nice restaurant, seems brand new, the service was very good. The food was great as well, the prices are a little steep though… But you get parking space and there aren’t that many restaurants bye the beach in espinho. The sea food seems very nice, especially the huge crabs(sapateira) I have never seen so big, been in many sea food restaurants as well as sea food markets. Will come to try them in future! :)

The host was very knowledgeable and explained what he was showing well and in an entertaining way for both adults and children in the room :) Will definitely come back for other sessions. The cinema is well equipped too and usually plays 1-2 recent movies.

Praia do Bairro Piscatório

Public beach
The beach located in front of the Fishermen's District starts where the center ends. Fishermen leave their vibrant boats on the shore after unloading their daily catch. Adjacent to the beach, there are a few bars where one can often find fishermen relaxing after a strenuous day of work. Visiting during mid-morning allows for observing and purchasing the freshly harvested catch, as well as witnessing traditional fishing boats in action.
If you want to see the local fishermen catch fish with a big net, you need to go early morning to this beach. It is located in Espinho. You can park your car nearby and walk to this area where you see a tractor. It is a kind of tourist attraction that you should not miss while in Espinho. I was there like 1 hour to see when they pull the net to the sand until they pick up all the fish. The fishermen needs to be fast because of the sea eagles that are ready to steal their fish. They will sell the fish immediately to public. It costs vary depends on the fish. I heard that 10 euros per box of small fishes. It is agood way to help local fishermen by buying their fresh fish.
Rita — Google review
Very nice fisherman’s (fishers?) area with huts and classic shaped boats. Recovered by tractors. Surfers about 100 m out waiting for suitable waves look like seals bobbing about. Cormorants and sea birds squabble over fish bits— generally great sea-side vibe. The board walk South is just shortly further on.
Martin H — Google review
Go in the mid morning to watch the days' catch being harvested and sold, plus the boats, including a couple of traditional fishing boats. They use tractors to move the nets and ropes, seagulls have enormous fun picking at the leftovers, and you can get great photos and videos.

How beautiful!! Now this was special! A very tiny hint of a very challenging job... Here we saw the boats with all their tools, smelled the fish and found some forgotten sea stars for souvenirs... We also happened to be there when the boats were out for lessons! Very lucky indeed!

Restaurant
Restaurante Vegetariano Terra Viva in Espinho used to be a top choice, but some find the current prices too high. Despite the use of organic products, there are concerns about hygiene and quality after a customer found a live slug in their salad. On the other hand, many praise it as an excellent restaurant with delicious and healthy vegan/vegetarian food. The buffet offers a wide variety of options and has received positive feedback for its friendly service and inviting atmosphere.
One of the Best vegan restaurants I have ever tried. Food is delicious and healthy. The quality and quality of the dish is unmatched. I really like to visit it again and again. That family also runs the Bio grocery store just opposite to the restaurant that also offers a variety of bio products. I have visited that also. I love this concept.

Restaurant
Casta Wine Bar & Restaurant is a charming find in the city center of Espinho. The cozy atmosphere and well-ventilated space make it a delightful spot for lunch or dinner. The menu offers an array of delectable options, from shrimps and cod cutlets to risotto with shrimps and salmon. The extensive wine selection includes both wines sold by the glass and by the bottle, ensuring there's something for every palate.
I found out about this place completely by accident, and I'm really glad I did. It's not a big place, we fortunately got there when it opened so we had a spot. The atmosphere is amazing, the place is very well ventilated. The service is good, the food is amazing. We got two tapas (the shrimps and the cod cutlets), the risotto with shrimps, and the salmon. Everything was extremely good. They have a big choice of wines (some can be sold as glasses, others only as bottles), and the green one we got was really good. I totally recommend this place, it may not be the cheapest in the city, but it's really good.

Absolutely great spot for lunch and dinner. After our first visit we had to come back next day to try different things from the menu, totally worth it. Eggs with potatos and ham are to die for, pork cheeks and sauce - WOW! We had cod cakes, prawn tempura, steak with rosemary butter and chicken with rice aswell and they were all nicely seasoned. Service is great, there is no menu in english but our waiter told us everything we wanted to know. If we could go back 3rd time we would but we are leaving and i can recommend this place 101%

If you're looking for a delightful dining experience in Espinho, "O Padrinho" is a must-visit. This charming restaurant offers an authentic taste of Portuguese cuisine with generous portions that will leave you satisfied. Arriving early or after 1 PM is advisable, as it tends to get quite busy. The daily specials are not only delicious but also budget-friendly, making it easy to indulge without breaking the bank.

The service here is very good but the food is only average at best. I really wish I liked it more as they are so nice and attentive. We had grilled shrimp and chicken, and it was without much flavor at all. Also, based on this, it was overpriced when compared to the other restaurants offering the same menu around Espinho. Damn and I really wanted to like this place.
Daniel K — Google review
We took a grilled chicken which is rather small in size but charged with a normal price. In the other restaurants, for the same price, we had rice, French fries with a much bigger chicken. I will not recommend this place.

Restaurant
Nestled in the heart of Espinho, Casa Papagaio is a beloved local eatery that captures the essence of authentic dining. This charming spot buzzes with energy as locals gather to enjoy simple yet deliciously prepared dishes. While reservations aren't accepted, the hour-long wait is well worth it for the mouthwatering food and cozy atmosphere. The staff works diligently to ensure a pleasant experience, and you'll find that prices are refreshingly affordable compared to other establishments in the area.
Great Portuguese grill restaurant, food is always, always fresh, i have visited this place at least 20 times and always happy. I love their fish cooked over wood fire and my wife likes the ribs, the ribs are awesome too but due to calories i just take a taste of hers, hands down best small family owned restaurant in Espinho, if near by try it, you will be happy too.

Without a doubt, one of the best restaurant in the Espinho-Esmoriz area. Stayed one week in Espinho in summer’20 and one month in Esmoriz in summer’21 and this was by far my favourite restaurant for dining out. There’s not a single dish I didn’t enjoy not to mention the great value for money that you’ll be getting. The fish has always been fresh when I ordered it and should you wish you can check the steaks/fish out on the display inside the restaurant. They don’t take reservations so you might have to wait on busy evenings. Enjoy! 🥂🦑🥩🐟

Real and authentic local restaurant there bunch of local people gather to eat together. You can't book a table in advance so be prepared to wait around an hour to get a table, but the wait is really worth it. The food is simple but really well prepared and tastfull. Atmosphere is noisy but very cozy. The staff does their best and the wait for the food is relatively short. Prices are well bellow other restaurants in Espinho and that's probably why many locals choose it. I really recommend this place.

Sure. You can come to Espinho and not go to eat at Casa Papagaio. But if you do this, you might as well stop traveling altogether because you’re doing it wrong. ;) It’s not a fancy restaurant, but the food and service are simply excellent. Oporto Golf Club

Golf club
Oporto Golf Club, established in 1890, is a picturesque golf course located near the Atlantic Ocean, just three kilometers away from Espinho's city center. Initially founded by British port wine manufacturers, the club started with nine holes and has since evolved into an impressive 18-hole course with a par of 71. Despite language barriers encountered by some English-speaking visitors in the past, Oporto Golf Club remains a popular destination for golf enthusiasts visiting Espinho.
Can't believe I never left a review.. played this course twice while staying in Espinho maybe 8-10 years ago.. my man Paulo Duarte got me in there. Awesome track. Wish I spoke Portuguese better back then because the older guys I played with didn't speak much English. One of these days I'll make it back to the great city of Espinho and Oporto Golf Club.. and have a Super Bock with my man Paulo. FC Porto>Sporting🤣
Nicolis C — Google review
I am deeply disappointed with the Oporto Golf Club. On October 6th, my 7-year-old son suffered a permanent injury, broken front teeth, the lack of supervision and club's response has been appalling. They refuse to take responsibility and have been dismissive of our concerns. They also deceptively increased the academy fees after we enrolled our son. I would strongly advise against joining this club.
Filipe S — Google review
Really wanted this course to be a seaside links hidden gem, but... the course is in the condition of a Muni Public course.. fairways are brown dried out, full of crab grass and weeds, no real definition of fairway and non-fairway. Sand in bunkers is just heavy dirt. Par 3s are real good, long and challenging with a really nice sbort one at 16. 18 is a really nice closing hole par 5.. Has potential to be a must play course with redesign and upgrade.

Castro de Ovil

Historical landmark
Castro De Ovil is an ancient Iron Age settlement located in the Paramos parish of Portugal. This fortified hilltop village dates back to a millennium before the Roman era and features circular dry-stone houses made of shale, protected by an outer wall or moat. The site offers a glimpse into pre-Roman life, with round houses on a hill that were strategically designed for defense. Visitors can also explore the remains of an old paper mill, adding another layer to the area's historical significance.
Visited the "castle" which is very old. In medieval times it was already deserted. Here lived the Lusitanos in pre- roman times in round houses on a hill. Good to defend. Worth seeing and understanding. Furthermore the remains of an old paper mill can be visited, appr. 200 yrs old- so very young in comparance :) Please navigate to: Rua do Castro de Ovil and drive this road to the end. IMPORTANT: be so kind and leave no garbage there.

As for the conservation of the accesses, since they do not do any maintenance, it was difficult to know where to go because the arrows placed on the ground (brown) were almost covered by vegetation. After several years of study, some signs are based on texts of assumptions, with information of 5 to 6 lines of text and they did not even include images of how it might have been at the time. I also got the idea that if they dig more, they will find more. I am sorry that they have left this place somewhat abandoned and from what I have understood, maintenance should only be done when they do reports or large visits. This place deserves more. However, do not miss out on visiting.

(Translated by Google) Although there aren't many uncovered structures, the settlement's size is notable. I was left with the feeling that there is still much to excavate and classify. It's also worth noting that on the day of my visit, a team was clearing the brush, making structures visible that would otherwise be hidden. The visit won't be very long, as what can be seen, compared to other Castros in the region, isn't much. Even so, it's a place that shouldn't be missed by anyone interested in the subject.

The best pizza, Italian and Venezuelan food on both sides of the Atlantic. Hand made with care and attention to authenticity. Try the panini pizza with mortadella or parma ham. It is a meal in itself. The garlic bread is surprising and amazing. Do not miss. Worth the time to search this restaurant out. The owners are friendly and accommodating.

(Translated by Google) The service was very slow, taking about an hour to be served. The white wine was warm, and even the ice couldn't cool the bottle! It was a shame because the lamb was actually good, but I won't be back, as I'm paying for bad service! The taste of food is good. The service is awful. The waitress can't memorize the order. Waiting too long. I Don't recommend it if you have any other choice.

Fresh, delicious and affordable seafood. The deserts were also very good looking and delicious. The only thing that wasn't perfect was the coffee, but even so, not the worst I've had. The staff were very friendly and helpful. There are many restaurants in this zone, but this one is definitely worth a good try.

Amazing local restaurant! We had Lulas(squid) Dourada(bream) and Robalo(sea bass) with fresh salad and chips. They were all very good, dourada was my favourite, nicely grilled, seasoned with delicious olive oil and garlic. A true local fish restaurant experience, one that shouldn’t be missed, strongly recommend.
