Doolin in 5 days

If you only have 5 days to spend in Doolin, we’ve narrowed down the top places you should check out to get the best experience of your time here.
Doolin is a small coastal village on Ireland’s Wild Atlantic Way, known as a gateway to the Cliffs of Moher and the otherworldly limestone landscapes of the Burren. It’s famed for its traditional Irish music, with nightly sessions in local pubs drawing musicians and listeners from around the world. From Doolin Pier you can take boat trips to the Aran Islands and view the cliffs from the sea. Colorful cottages, sea views, and nearby walking trails make it a popular base for exploring County Clare’s coastline and countryside.
With favorites like Toomullin church ruins, Ollie's Tours, and The Burren, we’ll make sure you don’t miss out on all the must sees. We even included some of our favorite food spots around the area, like Riverside Bistro Doolin and The Lodges @ Sea View House Doolin so you can get the best taste of Doolin while you’re here. To see our full list of food recommendations, check out our best restaurants post. If you're traveling on a budget, you can check out our cheap eats post.

The Cliffs of Moher are a stunning natural attraction on the western coast of Ireland. These dramatic seaside cliffs stretch for 18 kilometers and offer an 18-km hiking path, O'Brien's Tower, and a visitor center. Nearby, Stonecutters Kitchen is a family-run restaurant with outside seating that provides views of the Wild Atlantic Way.
The Cliffs of Moher are absolutely breathtaking. The views over the Atlantic are stunning, and the sheer scale of the cliffs is awe-inspiring. Even on a windy day, it’s an unforgettable experience and a must-see if you’re in Ireland.
Griffin P — Google review
Very beautiful view but the walking path is extremely tight so you constantly have to watch out for people behind and Infront of you, and if that wasn't enough there is an electric fence which you almost need to touch because the tight path. Also there are a lot of flies which ruin the view because they keep flying in people's faces. The unisex toilet stinks very bad, so I would recommend going to the bathrooms at the souvenir shop
Tarik E — Google review
You cannot go to Ireland without seeing the Cliffs of Moher. They are beautiful and rugged. You can climb as much as you want or just a little and still see the Cliffs in all their splendor. There is also a really good museum built into the hill.
Tom V — Google review
Sadly a foggy day for us when we were there. Otherwise im sure the views would have been excellent. There are lots of small flies along where people would take pictures and its kind of annoying. There is a visitor centre where you can tour some exhibitions and there is a cafe and restaurant there too. There is also a well stocked gift shop.
SL W — Google review
One of the most breathtaking places I've ever been! The trains to the Cliffs are paved and well maintained, and the visitor centre is modern and co tains free brochures/maps, a museum, a café, and a gift shop. If you take a right out of thr visitor center you'll come to a y-junction at the edge of the Cliffs. If you go left there you'll get an amazing view of O'Brian's tower, and if you head right you'll get the more iconic view of the Cliffs as well as a view of the Napoleonic tower and the Aran Islands if it's clear enough.
Noah D — Google review
Such a beautiful place to visit. Well designed location when it comes to the Welcome Centre being built into the hillside. Paths are easy to navigate and they have golf cart for people with mobility issues. The views are stunning and well worth the trip to get there. Nice big gift shop with plenty of things to buy and they also have a sit down restaurant. Recommended.
W Q — Google review
Definitely worth seeing however we were very upset that we were being charged so heavily to see and explore the cliffs. It shouldn’t be a tourist trap but a nature scene open to the public. However the cliffs were gorgeous
Jane M — Google review
The 2 mainpaths (10 minutes to the left, 15 to the right) were open but 2 additional walking paths were closed and for that it was slightly expensive but it's still a great experience. The 4d cinema is great. Be prepared for weather changes.

Doolin Ferry offers seasonal ferry services from March to October, taking passengers from Doolin to the Aran Islands and providing tours of the Cliffs of Moher. The Express Ferry service ensures less time on the water and more time for exploration, with short travel times to each island. Passengers can enjoy amazing views of the cliffs and resident seabirds while receiving insights into the area's geography, history, and wildlife through commentary from the captain.
Great experience and a fun ride out towards the cliffs. This is the Atlantic Ocean. Anyone who expects it to be calm should stick to lake tours. Got some great views of the cliffs and some information about them and the birds in the area. It's quite short, but really, it is all you need to see the cliffs.
Anthony O — Google review
Doolin Ferry took us to the Aran Island. And, under the cliffs of Moher. We had a great day there. Ferry is timely, clean, four bathrooms. It was great!!
Bob K — Google review
5/6/25: This is a safely organised ferry service to the Cliffs of Moher with easy access to the top deck; a 55 minute round trip. Even on a calm day the sea can be quite bouncy as the wind rarely eases in these parts. The cliffs themselves don’t really live up to the hype of being as spectacular as people like to say in my opinion but close up the geologically structure is certainly fascinating and the many sea birds that live in the nooks and crannies of the cliffs.
Mal J — Google review
Lovely ferry ride out to see the Cliffs of Moher! Rough seas which made for a more fun experience and I got absolutely drenched by the water as we sat at the bottom deck right at the back! Incredible to see the Cliffs from the water!
Liam D — Google review
If you’re unsure whether to do this experience or not - let me tell you . . . DO IT! It was an unforgettable experience in Ireland! My friends and I took the Doolin Ferry to see the Cliffs of Moher and it is an unbelievable and unbeatable unique view of the cliffs. I think the cost of the ferry is extremely reasonable for the experience you receive and the views you get. I definitely will be doing this experience again! Only recommendation - not sure if it was where I sat or because of the loudness, but it was unfortunately extremely hard to hear the information that was coming over the loud speaker during the tour past the Cliffs. I wish it was either louder or easier to understand, or perhaps a paper explanation for those with hearing issues (I personally don’t have any but I can only imagine for someone who does). Only warnings - if you happen to get a sort of motion sickness, be prepared and take medicine! The waves are fairly large and definitely made some people feel unwell. I never once felt unsafe but definitely a consideration.
Danielle B — Google review
So much fun. Great captain and amazing views of the cliffs. Take a rainjacket and be prepared to get a little wet as waters may be choppy. Great shopping and good cafes nearby.
Stormy B — Google review
The ferry took us to the cliffs of moher. It was a great tour the guides explained everything we were seeing and the history as well. They did a great job. Only issue was that the water was extremely rough. Not their fault though. It just was the luck of the draw. So many people were getting sea sick. So be prepared for that. They have plastic bags they give out to sick people to throw up into.
Kindly M — Google review
I had a blast. Some passengers did not as they got sick. But I feel like they did a pretty good job at taking care of those who weren't enjoying the, ride.

Irish pub
Gus O'Connor's Pub, a historic establishment dating back to 1832, is a beloved spot in Doolin. Situated on the lively Fisher Street, it offers a quintessential Irish experience with nightly live music performances and outdoor seating. The pub is known for its cozy atmosphere and hearty Irish meals, making it popular among tourists seeking traditional culture and delicious food. During the summer months, visitors can enjoy the vibrant ambiance while savoring authentic Irish cuisine and listening to talented musicians.
If you have seen any of my other reviews then you know I’m on the look out for the best seafood chowder while on Holiday with my family. Let’s just say I have found 2 that have blown me away. This one and another in Cobh. There was also a very nice bartender/ waiter working by the name John. -2 points John for forgetting my name, but +3 for having the guts to ask me it again! Loved the chowder! Definitely in the running for top soup thus far!
Amanda A — Google review
We came after seeing all the good reviews but left disappointed. We took the beef burger which was ok, nothing exceptional, the chicken wings which had a weird sauce on it, like ketchup cut with hot sauce, the beef stew which consisted of more carrots than meat and the mussels that were fine though we wondered if the pepper didn't fall entirely into the dish. I had a side of fries which were definitely not homemade. Very loud inside and music came late, at the end of our dinner. The bartenders were nice though.
Chloé M — Google review
Gus O’Connor’s Pub is a charming, historic gem with an authentic Irish atmosphere. The cozy setting and lively vibe make it the perfect place to unwind. The food is outstanding— hearty and full of flavor. The seafood chowder is creamy and rich, the mussels are fresh and perfectly cooked, and the traditional Irish stew with vegetables is comforting and delicious. A must-visit for anyone craving genuine Irish hospitality and unforgettable flavors!

I was recommended this place by a friend, unfortunately our experience was a little different. We visited this pub yesterday for dinner (23.09.25), and unfortunately spent all day today with FOOD POISONING! We had the guinnes beef stew, fish and chips, and smoked salmon as starter, all to share. We are not sure which one was the problem but the place definitely needs to adjust their hygiene standards! Beef stew was nice but felt like a standard stew no guinness flavor. The main dish service was too slow, we had to ask if our food is coming or not. Ambiance is nice, but never seen a pub that is not nice anyway. Servers were fine in service.
Dilara A — Google review
Very lively place! Great atmosphere and really really good food! We were staying walking distance from the pub and went twice during our visit and loved the food each time. All the staff are very friendly and work so hard during busy dining hours. I loved the vegan pasta dish and the portion sizes are big. Only small gripe is that the little stools wrecked our bums after sitting for too long 😂
Tee M — Google review
Perfect lunch spot when visiting cliff of moher. I had the chowder and it was probably the best I ever had. There were massive piece of fish in there. Friendly service and decent price as well!

On a wet and windy day, this was a warm welcome for lunch. When you arrive, grab some menus from the bar and find a table of your choosing! Place your order at the bar and make sure you know your table number for food delivery. You’ll receive the drinks when you order. The food was quick and quite good.

Entered with no reception , chose table on our own preference. Sat for a while , then bar guy came to give suggestion how they run the order. Semi-Self Serviced… Order must be placed at the service counter and paid upfront. Food is amazing

This little gem of a place had some of the best seafood we’ve had in a very long time. For reference, we’re from the east coast of the US and love good seafood. We got the daily fish, the mushroom truffle soup (not pictured) and the desert platter. It was all outstanding and the staff were all amazing. Thank you all for an amazing dinner. Highly recommend !

Simply a gem of a restaurant. The staff was attentive, helpful, and set us on the right path for some Irish Whiskey as well. The food was excellent. Seafood Chowder, specifically. And the bread that accompanied it - so good. Love the change of pace tall (soda) cans, too - w/ different graphic elements.

It was so delicious with surprising flavors. We took some fish and ships, the batter was crispy, there was a little spicy and sweet salad of mangoes that was delicious and the shrimps were so tasty. We also took the fish of the day, and the fish was very good and well seasoned. The desserts were delicious too. The waiter was very nice and funny, his pronunciation of the fresh word Flétan was very funny, we had a good laugh. (It was perfect don't worry, it was cute.) We'll surely come back !

Charming restaurant with delicious food. I was there at the end of July with my mother staying within walking distance of the restaurant, and it was one of the best meals we had during our 5 day trip in Ireland.

Great Service and lovely food. This is probably the best fish I’ve had with fish and chips in Ireland. The cottage is lovely and desserts are also amazing. Shout to Alisha for the great service. Would come again only for the great treat here🤍🙏🏼

Every time in Doolin this wonderful gem of a restaurant serves the best gluten free rich and chips, probably in Ireland. Superb and warm, friendly and fun staff team make the meal all the more memorable. The fish chowder also yesterday was one of the most delicious I have tasted in Ireland. Bravo to Ivy Cottage Chefs and Team💯

An absolute must stop in the area. Excellent service, welcoming us at the door. Beautiful interior and delicious food. The atmosphere is truly what romance movies are made from. A little gem that is a must visit. One had the seafood chowder, the other the open ham sandwich. Both very tasty.

Lovely french-inspired restaurant. The food is very delicious and looks very great when served. The price of the food is a little higher than elsewhere. The service was very friendly and efficient. We were pleased to be seated outside on the terrace 'cause of the dog, because there was a strong fish smell in the restaurant.

Food was great! Service was fantastic. Atmosphere is traditional pub, funky and eclectic, which I happen to love. We ate here 2 nights in a row it was that good. The live trad music every night is a bonus.

I spent 3 nights in Doolin and this place was fantastic! The staff, the food, the music...it was all amazing! I had the special of Veggie stew and it was one of the best tasting meals I had on my trip to Ireland and the Irish coffee was the best I've ever tasted anywhere! They had great music every night. Don't miss out on this gem if you're in the area.

This is my favorite place on planet earth. I came here during my very first trip abroad and I’ve been back 5 times since. I’ll never go to Ireland without coming here for a visit. I do really miss the ability to rent the room upstairs, but I understand why that had to change. I recommend staying at Doolin Hotel after amFun night here. Best music in Ireland.

The tour company stops here for lunch. I must say it's a very good experience. Quick service. Amazing food and friendly staff. It's on the way to Cliffs of Moher.

Food is amazing, Service is great. Desert is fabulous. I would give 10 star if I could. We got the lamb shank and their Special salmon and both were great!

Atmosphere: Local pub. Lively in the front of the pub. We were well greeted when we walked in. It was cool to see the law enforcement patches from around the world (mostly US). Staff: We received very warm welcome at the door. We were asked by 2 different people if we needed to take our order. After finishing our food, it did take a while to get our check. The pub did start getting a bit more busy. Burger: The bread was toasted to perfection with light butter and crispy edges. The bread was soft on the inside. The burger itself was okay. They do have regular mustard (American Mustard) if you ask. The French fries were amazing! This was the first place I had fries that were shaped like potatoes chips but airy and cooked like French fries. Beef Stew: The stew was very good. The beef was tender and very flavorful. It came with two hearty scoops of mashed potatoes. It came with soda bread that was great also.

Fantastic spot for a well-priced upscale meal. We were seated quickly even though we stopped in late. We started with the local oysters which were delicious. I got the seafood pasta and my husband enjoyed the lamb. Absolutely delicious, romantic, and good house wine too :)

Very nice and cosy place. I ordered BBQ ribs and chips with glass of Merlot wine. Ribs were amazing: well marinated, soft and sweet. Banoffi desert was not too sweet and good. It was very delicious.

Thoughtful vegetarian options seem rare in this part of town, but Riverside Bistro Doolin delivered. The Vegetarian Val Au Vent—a flaky, buttery pastry with a creamy mushroom filling—was thoughtfully made for those who aren’t after a plant-based meat imitation. Hands down the best vacation rental in Ireland. It is immaculately clean, comfortable, and conveniently located. Darra and Niall are extraordinary hosts. They think of everything. We had an amazing stay! The location was absolutely perfect — there are at least five great pubs within walking distance, all with fantastic food and atmosphere, plus plenty of cute local shops to explore. You can even walk to the Cliffs of Moher or take a quick drive if you prefer. The house itself was spotless and had everything you could possibly need for both a short or longer stay. The hosts were incredibly kind and thoughtful, offering wonderful recommendations for places to eat and things to do around Doolin. We would absolutely stay here again the next time we visit. Highly recommend!

Quick, easy access to the Cliffs of Moher, local pubs and a very well appointed kitchen in the home should you want to dine in. Dara and Niall were fabulous hosts.

Homestead Cottage is a charming restaurant located near the Cliffs of Moher, offering a memorable culinary experience with its modern cuisine. The old cottage provides a beautiful setting for a cozy dining experience, complete with a log burner. Guests praise the friendly service and excellent selection of wines and beers. Visitors highly recommend this spot for an exceptional dining experience while traveling along the Wild Atlantic Way or stopping in Doolin.
We had an exceptional dining experience at Homestead Cottage. There were five of us. Two of our family have experience in food service and fine dining and we all agreed it was one of the best meals of our lives. The space is charming, there was a fire in the stove when we arrived, it feels like a home with warm wood, the stone fireplace wall, cookbooks lining the mantle. The service was excellent and attentive. The courses were well-paced and everything from placement and type of utensil (sometimes a small wooden spoon for example, sometimes a fine knife) were well paired with the food. The food itself was delightful and full of beauty and surprises, delicate but deep flavors and interesting textures. Gorgeous presentation. We loved our experience and would definitely come again! I enjoyed every bite! Favorites included the beef tartare, tender and flavorful oysters, scallop, the lamb (oh the lamb) and turbot and the peach and raspberry with Clare cream had such heightened fruit flavors it was incredible and the Valrhona Chocolate with shortbread was out of this world. The bite of the fruit square was perfect paired with an espresso to finish the meal. As you can see the presentation was a work of art but each piece contributed to the taste, the most important part of all. I wish I had saved the menu!
Dominique R — Google review
The food overall was very good — beautiful use of high-quality Irish produce, clearly sourced with care. The atmosphere was lovely: warm, rustic, and inviting. However, we were really let down by one dish in particular — a crab course that contained several sharp pieces of shell. My partner had to remove 6 or 7 fragments from her mouth after biting down on them, which is not only unpleasant but quite dangerous. We showed the pieces to the waitress, who acknowledged the issue and said she’d inform the kitchen, but that was the last we heard of it. No apology, no follow-up, no gesture whatsoever. For a restaurant of this reputation and price point (we paid over €300 for the meal), we expected a far higher level of care and service. A shame, because it otherwise could have been a standout experience.

We loved the cottage feel of this place. The service was ok, it took till the middle of my second course to order and get my wine though. I didn’t always understand what the dish was because the server spoke very quickly. Apart from the dessert, the bread course was our favourite. Didn’t know what the menu would be and my hubby is not a seafood lover and didn’t eat the oysters which I ended up having both but were delicious. Second and third courses were also seafood but weren’t particularly great. The cod was steamed but could’ve done with a little more cooking time for our tastes and contained bones which nearly pierced my throat. The crab was nice but lacked flavour. The lamb dish was tasty but had too much fat for my taste. The best bit about the meal was the dessert and the wine I had was very good. All in all we paid over €210, which we had driven 2 hours to get to for a meal that was really just ok. I would not go again. I just didn’t think it was that special. We did love the fact the produce was locally sourced and that was remarkable. We’ve experienced Michelin accredited food before, however, this didn’t hit the mark for us. Sorry.

Homestead Cottage is a little gem hidden by the cliffs close to Doolin, Co. Clare. There is a beautiful garden right in front where they grow their own vegetables. From the second we walked in, we were taken care of by the staff. They were very attentive, friendly and extremely professional. The decor is really beautiful. It does reflect the nature that surrounds the cottage. We had a couple of cocktails and they were all really flavorful, both the alcoholic and non alcoholic ones. The summer lunch tasting menu was delicious! Beautifully presented and colorful dishes. Every detail was thought through. The flavors blended so nicely together. You could taste the freshness in every dish. The kitchen was able to swap the ingredients according to our food preferences and allergies which we really appreciated. We will come back to savour the dishes in other seasons too!

The food and service was 100% worth the white knuckle drive in a campervan down the narrow Irish roads. We had a wonderful time and would love to visit again in the future. The food was incredible and we saw the staff gathering ingredients for the meal while we got ready for our meal in our camper van. Being tourists we were not comfortable driving at night so it was a wonderful surprise they allowed us to overnight in their lot and head out the next morning.

High expectations when booking the restaurant for birthday dinner. Little card message was cute and surprising as well. Enjoyed dining here but overall underwhelming and disappointed a little. Booked whole trip to come and dine in the restaurant also visiting Aran islands was a plus. As it’s special occasion, wanted to add some drinks preferably pairing option so booked the separate taxi going and back from accommodation as well because it’s nowhere near town or walkable. However, it wasn’t worth that much in my opinion. Usually staffs ask what we would like to drink and offer at the beginning but we felt left out, didn’t get asked and staffs all seem very busy. When they brought amuse bouche, managed to order wine pairings. Maybe ordering drinks mixed up everything because we ended up waiting long to get the next dish and wines after. Also, people came later than us getting food and drinks before us and our service got delayed more and more. I understand that fine dining restaurant takes some time to get served and there was no hurry at all for us so didn’t make any complaints but it was noticeable getting slower for our table whole night. We were one of last tables leaving the restaurant after 3 hour dining. At that point, we rushed to get up. Foods were nice - very fresh ingredients and seasonal. Highlights were main lamb dish but nothing else was memorably stood out. Happy we tried but I don’t think I would recommend rather than amazing & affordable options in the area.

There are certain dining experiences that will become memories to savour for a lifetime. Delightedly, Homestead Cottage provided this for us last night. The experience began from the moment we drove onto the property. The austere landscape enfolded us as we tucked into the cozy of the 200 yr old cottage for our unhurried and blissful evening. The serving team each present a beautiful energy and glow as they describe each course. Their joy and passion is evident. And they hustle, while maintaining a calm that sets an atmosphere for guests. This is an experience to be enjoyed slowly. 3 hrs is the right amount of time for 8+courses. Savour each moment. The courses themselves— no words can capture the flavours. It’s a journey that provides guests with a sampling of this coast’s best and finest bounty of the land and sea. It was beauty displayed in countless intentional ways— from the petite dried floral arrangements on each table, to the musical selections (thank you for Norah Jones and Dolly Parton), to the hot towels to rinse off some of the rugged outdoor world we had just come from. You will find yourself losing track of time (tuck your phone away as much as you can) and settle into Homestead Cottage to be a part of some of the magic of the Irish countryside.

First off, food was incredible. Quality, variety, use of Irish ingredients, all well worthy of the star. Sadly the service was really quite poor though. It took almost four hours to get through an eight course tasting menu (€125pp). Great welcome initially, but after that we spent about 90% of our time sitting in front of empty plates or an empty table. They would benefit from a more speedy service (I get 4h for a 15+ course menu, not for 8 though). Also the setup of the cottage is quite interesting. We were in a room to the left when you enter (I'd avoid this one if you can, seems the other areas are better). There are three tables of two there, so super intimate. It also though feels like you're forgotten about by the staff, maybe because they can't actually see you. One time I went to try find a staff member to ask if it could go a bit quicker, I walked through all the rooms, and there wasn't one staff member outside the kitchen in any of the dining rooms. So no one keeping an eye on things. Also, could rarely understand their descriptions of plates (mainly starters and desserts), where it felt like they were trying to urgently get out the details before sprinting back to the kitchen. Maybe under-staffed? Altogether, great food, huge amount to work on for service of a Michelin star though, so depending how much this matters to you should influence your decision to go.

Nestled in the stunning County Clare, Doolin Cave is a must-visit for any adventure seeker exploring the Wild Atlantic Way. This remarkable limestone cave, located just 4 km from the charming village of Doolin and a short drive from the iconic Cliffs of Moher, boasts an impressive 7.3-meter-long stalactite—the longest free-hanging stalactite in Europe!
This is a must see if you're in the area. You have to do a guided tour, which runs frequently. We did not have to reserve ahead of time when we went. Learning about the story of the explorers that first discovered it was fascinating. And the Cave itself was really breathtaking. The property around it is also very pretty and well maintained. We had some soup in the Cafe and there is free wifi. The guide was great and very knowledgeable and made sure everyone had a safe experience.

We visited at noon on a Monday with tickets we purchased online weeks ago. We were the first to arrive for our tour at 11:45, with about 10 of us in total at noon. The tour itself is very short in distance, going down 100 some steps and then back up the same way, but the stalactite inside is magnificent. I've been to cabes across the USA and seen many amazing things, and I was still in awe at how large it was. Definitely worth a quick stop if you're in the area and a fan of caves!

Tour guide was knowledgeable, patient and entertaining. Excellent tour. Hard hat required and the ability to climb steps back up. Well worth the trek.
Debra K — Google review
We went there as walk ins and got onto the next tour even though online it showed there were no slots? Booking in advance is probably still better if you are planning to visit during main season (we were here off season). Our group was pretty small and the one after us were only 2 people. Our guide was entertaining and considerate, checking if everyone saw everything and understood everything volumewise. He also made sure everyone got photos and even took our pictures.
Jn04h — Google review
Great experience and something different if you are around the area. One hour experience to see the tallest stalactite in europe. The steps and railings were built steadily and safe, adult will still have to bent down for sometime in the cave but nothing uncomfortable. Not accessible for wheelchair or buggy
Niken A — Google review
Full disclosure, we did not actually visit the cave, we found it to be exorbitantly expensive, and we've both seen great caves before. But... THEY HAVE DONKEYS AND PYGMY GOATS!!!! It was totally worth swerving off the road for those. They don't seem to care if you feed the donkeys - we fed one of them carrots and no one came out to ask us not to. There's a little cafe and gift shop too. The cave is entry by guided tour only, 45-50 minutes.
Margaret R — Google review
A small but nevertheless very impressive cave with the biggest stalactite in Europe and the heaviest in the world. I nevery thought to see such a wonder in Ireland. Also pace a visit to the original entry the explorers used to enter the cave. It is a magic place by itself and worth the very short stroll after visiting the cave.
Werner ( — Google review
Very interesting tour. Guide was extremely informative and entertaining. Access to the cave was easy. About 8 flights of stairs and then some passageways. Some of the tunnels were on the short side and uncomfortable for a tall person but doesn't last long. Much better in a smaller group. Our group was 13 people and even that felt a bit crowded. Apparently they take up to 22 at a time.

The Burren, located in County Clare, is a unique and extraordinary limestone landscape that forms part of the Cliffs of Moher Geopark. This UNESCO World Heritage site is home to various archaeological and natural wonders, including the ancient Poulnabrone Dolmen, Doolin Cave with Europe's longest free-hanging stalactite, and the breathtaking views from Corkscrew Hill.
The Burren is such a cool place to visit! The landscape is so unique—lots of rocky areas, beautiful wildflowers, and amazing views. It’s perfect for a nice walk and just soaking in the peaceful vibes. If you’re into nature or just looking for a quiet spot to explore, you’ll love it.
Magdalena N — Google review
The Burren is one of the largest Karst landscapes in the world. It was formed during the ice age as glaciers scraped away anything above bedrock. This is what's responsible for the crevices and random boulders everywhere. Overall it's well worth a stop.
Noah D — Google review
The Karst landscape is truly unique region, and rather aptly named (Boireann, the rocky landscape). From a geologic view, there is lots to see, including fossils within the limestone, exposed strata at the cliff edges, glacial erratics, drumlins, clints & grikes, poljes, turloughs and the limestone caves. Mullaghmór is interesting for its odd shape, a layer of folded rock which stands out from the relatively flat surroundings. The ecology is also noteworthy, with around 75% of all Irish flora being present there. The longitudinal range is impressive, from mountain avens to orchids. The gentians are pretty to see when they're around. A lot can be seen when looking closely between the grikes. In terms of fauna, you have the "wild" goat which I haven't seen nearly as much elsewhere in the country personally. Up to 95 bird species have been spotted, the common whitethroat is perhaps noteworthy to the Burren. My personal favourite is the coastline, with long limestone pavements which reach out directly to the sea. The tumultuous coastal waves create stunning spray, especially when accompanied by heavy winds (the weather can be intense and forboding).
Hubert M — Google review
Such a cool secret little stop. The whole area is covered in limestone, shaped by rainwater. The water slowly breaks down the rock and leaves behind the jagged formations you can see in the photos. Worth checking out! Just be careful where you step. You can easily twist an ankle if you're not careful. The grassy areas have especially uneven footing. Keep an eye on kids because they may wander off in excitement. Enjoy!
Kevin — Google review
Awesome place with an interesting landscape. Parking is easy off the road but a small but challenging climb is needed to reach the top. Definitely can be challenging for anyone not in shape but not impossible. Worth a visit! The cliff walk closer to the shore is easier and equally as beautiful. Good place to add onto your stop to the Cliffs Of Moher.
Michael D — Google review
Stunning impression in front of the clints and grikes I'm impressed by the vegetation in between the rocks If you reach the parking area it is very easy to have a walk near the Dolmen

McDermott's Pub is a traditional Irish pub located in Doolin, owned and operated by the same family since 1876. The red and white exterior welcomes visitors with the sounds of live traditional Irish music. Inside, guests can enjoy a cozy atmosphere with patches and pictures adorning the walls. The pub offers delicious homemade meals daily and live music every night during the summer.
What an amazing pub!! Great service and hearty Irish food. This pub went above and beyond our expectations and hit the spot two nights in a row after hiking. From the fish and chips to the bangers and mash. Everything is wonderful. Would recommend anyone in Doolin stops in for a pint and a great meal.

Came in on a Saturday for lunch - wasn’t too busy so we got a table straight away. We ordered the beef burger and fish and chips- both were good. The let down was that the Coca Cola was flat even it came in bottles. There is plenty of parking making it easy for those driving. I would recommend but just skip the coke.

A lovely pub with nice traditional music. The portion is good and the price is more than reasonable. The pub was very crowded and popular yet the servers were very attentive and provided great service. Recommend and will go back!

Great atmosphere, great food, and great service. The Irish beef stew was packed with flavor, and the beef was super tender. The fish and chips were the best I’ve ever had, flaky and moist on the inside and extremely crunchy on the outside. I also enjoyed the mushy peas.

We had our wedding reception at McDermott’s Pub, and it was absolutely perfect! The vibe was warm and lively, the staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, and the food was beyond delicious—every single dish was amazing. The live music was top notch and really brought the whole celebration to life. From start to finish, they made our special day unforgettable. We couldn’t have asked for a better place to celebrate!

Great good and service here, stopped along the way after touring Cliffs of Moher and was not disappointed. The chowder, nachos, and Irish stew were hearty and delicious. We also ordered some homemade bread to dip the sauces. Lots of parking on the side and on the premise. I recommend this place if you are stopping by Doolin.

Authentic pub with a full menu. Great service and tasty food. My husband enjoyed his fish and chips and I enjoyed a delicious chicken club sandwich. Of course paired with pints!

An extremely busy pub but staff are very welcoming and helpful. We arrived after 8pm to a packed pub, with no seating available. However we managed to get a seat at the bar and a member of staff found us a table within 20 minutes of arrival. Service was excellent and we were able to order our food quite quickly and it arrived without much of a wait. Food was outstanding! There were 3 of us in our party and we all ordered something different - bangers and mash, Irish beef stew and vegetarian fajitas. The food was well presented, delicious and very reasonably priced. If you are visiting Doolin I high recommend this pub. You will not be disappointed!

Fitz's Pub, located in Hotel Doolin, has recently undergone a major renovation and is now one of the more upscale pubs in Doolin. Despite its formal Irish music performances every night, the pub maintains a friendly atmosphere. The establishment offers a memorable experience with its lively downstairs area and convenient proximity to the hotel rooms. While there may be a wait for entry due to its popularity, the service remains friendly and efficient.
If you are here, you should try the red ale and the lager beer made in Doolin. I drank it and liked it. The bar has a nice interior but it was noisy. It is generally a very touristy place and there are a lot of tourists.

Was brought here by the tour guide during my cliff of mother tour. I got the potato and leek soup. The soup was alright but the bread that came with it was yummy. My friends got the smoked salmon/creme fraiche/dill/bread thing and they liked it. There was indoor and outdoor seating space
L P — Google review
The food was edible but nothing special. Prices were steep: 3 meatballs for €12, both the burger and the beer-battered fish were €21 each. The burger patty was thick and tasty, but it lacked sauce. The fish came with caper aioli, which was good but barely a tablespoon spread thinly on the plate. Two out of three fish pieces were clearly overcooked and too dark, which affected the taste (the on pice that wasn't over cooked was actually good and crispy). The potatoes (served with both dishes) were bland and overly greasy. The sauce served with them resembled cold, watery tomato purée. Food took about 25 minutes to arrive, service was average. I gave 3/5 because overpriced for what you get.

The monkfish dish was so fresh and delicious, I am going to spend the rest of my life thinking about this meal! Heavenly! I do wish the portions were a bit bigger but the quality of the meal made up for it! Worth noting that some items on the menu were mistakenly missing certain allergen labels (ie. gluten). Fortunately, our waitress double-checked our order was gluten free with the kitchen before submitting it!

We stopped in the pub on September 10 for a late lunch. I'd read an article about great restaurants in Doolin. When we got to Doolin, there was only one place open. So, we went to Fitz's Pub. We walked in and there were many open tables but they all had dirty dishes on them. I asked if we could get a table for two and the young girl told me that it would be about ten minutes. So, we literally just stood around and tried to stay out of people's way. Then some time later another employee asked me what I needed, I told her a table for two. I asked if we could have the cute little table nestled in the corner. She told me that she was seating someone else there (someone who just walked in). So, I asked if we could have the table closest to the bar as there was only a small amount of dirty dishes on it. She allowed us to take that table and someone came and cleaned it. All in, we probably stood around awkwardly for 20 minutes. We sat down and the server seemed irritated. We had already ordered our drinks at the bar so we just ordered two seafood chowders. The chowders were not bad, not great. Mine had a mussel with a broken shell and a mussel with a clamped closed shell. Couldn't eat those. The pints were good. I'm giving three stars, that being said, it wasn't a good experience

Such warming food and atmosphere, especially with the gloom of the Irish countryside. Their menu is extensive, local, and authentically delicious. We got the ribs, stew, potato & leek soup, and the seafood chowder (which is the best I’ve ever had). 10/10 recommend it. Also, their drink menu is extensive and could quench any cravings. The local beers to this small town are so tasty!

Stopped in as part of our bus tour and got to crab and haddock croquettes as well as the charcuterie plate. The food was very good. Loved the atmosphere !

The seafood chowder was delicious. I’m on a 2 week holiday with my family. I have challenged myself to find the best seafood chowder in Ireland. Unfortunately this place is not it. But it’s been a close second to a competitor in Cork. This chowder came out hot and fast with a beautiful presentation, it was creamy and velvety with great chunks of seafood. I personally love my food seasoned a little more, so I found it lacking on that. However, I would order it again and be happier than a clam!

☕️Great service and very clean place! They cleaned straight away which made room for new people asap - always nice to get to a super clean area. 👶🏼We saw they had a high chair for kids, and they had changing table at HC WC (as we travel with kids this is always something we like to know about places, so just to let other parents know as well for convenience). Mocha was tasteful, and the flatbread very nice. The avocado-dish could have been a bit more filled with avocado and a bit less feta cheese (just a personal preference). We enjoyed it. A nice spontaneous stop after a visit to cliffs of moher. The kids loved to see the big yellow car inside 😀

Pretty good apple pie. Seems to be popular in Ireland to have a "snack"/coffee/pasty area within a sweater/clothing store. All their desserts looked delicious. [added] I read another review here with something I experienced so I will mention it. The woman who was taking orders took a group of 4 women's orders, and she asked me to wait while she made their drinks. It was at least five minutes of standing there. I ordered my pie and she said they would bring it out to me. Afterwards I thought she could have easily taken my order instead of asking me to stand there for so long. My wife and I were walking around all day so I probably looked "rumpled/tired". I don't know if that had anything to do with it. Gave 4 stars for overall service because the gentleman who bought my pie was courteous.

We had a great dining experience: the pizza was delicious, with an outstanding crust, and the Caesar salad was both generous and tasty. They also offer a great selection of wines. Would definitely go back!
Tina F — Google review
We had the Frutti de Mare pizza and it was excellent pizza with quality ingredients. The staff was working hard and were professional. The reason it took off one star is because you couldn't get take away even though they had take away boxes available for Unfinished pizza. While we were there we asked about take away and so did several others. Like a lot of people we are traveling and just wanted to get a pizza, head home to our campsite, eat, and go to bed. Instead we had to wait almost an hour to be seated, another half hour to order and get the pizza, and then eat. After a tough day of traveling it was exhausting. Had we not had a chance to shower beforehand I would have walked out.

Cafe
Doolin Café is a charming eatery located in Toomullin, Doolin, Co. Clare, Ireland, conveniently situated next to The Rainbow Hostel. The café offers a vibrant and colorful ambiance where guests can enjoy delicious breakfasts and lunches. With Deirdre back in the kitchen, the menu boasts flavorful dishes such as seafood chowder, Panang Curry, Doolin crab claws, and blue cheese pasta bake.
We discovered this lovely café while looking at reviews for breakfast in Doolin and you definitely need to stop there if you are in the area. It is not just a nice and cosy place but actually a "meeting" point where we saw many families and friends being welcomed by a wonderful team who would make all efforts to make your staying as much pleasant as they can. Even when the room is busy, there is always someone keeping an eye on your table and ready to take additional orders. Moreover, the food there is absolutely wonderful and is the cherry on the cake for the "feel like at home" experience.

We had a great breakfast at the Doolin Cafe on the 3rd of June 2023. We had a small wait(due to popularity) & it was all worthwhile. The full Irish was cooked clean(if that's possible....for a fry) No greasy spoon here. The staff were very friendly & accommodating 👍

This is a " mini " irish breakfast . We did not even manage to finish it. Coffee / tea , breakfast + couple of sweet things included for 8e per person greatest deal ever. Taste 15 / 10. Would reccomend to everybody.

Delicious food and friendly staff! We stopped by for a quick lunch before heading to the Cliffs of Moher. This cafe was cute and just what we were looking for. We had the ham & cheese toastie plus the soup of the day (curry vegetable), both were so yummy! We would definitely stop here again.

Last year I went to this place. It's a nice place to have some vegan and gluten free meals, ... and treats! It was like a polenta pizza with vegan cheese, if it doesn't look good to you, it was delicious to me! Just try it and enjoy!:)

Hidden gem, highly recommend eating here. We had just come from the cliffs, searching for somewhere to grab a sambo but not a full dinner. Fortunately Doolin Cafe was open and we'd 100% be back.

Oar Restaurant & Rooms is a top dining spot in Doolin, offering refined rustic fine dining and accommodation with four rooms and a suite. Located just a short drive from Fisher Street, the restaurant impresses with elegant dishes like pan-seared scallops and roasted cod with chicken skin and spinach gnocchi. Visitors rave about the incredible meals, attentive staff, and charming venue, comparing it to Michelin-starred restaurants.
Dined there last night - fantastic food and great staff. They even catered with some creative vegetarian dishes for us. Kieran Was super friendly, as were all the staff. Food was perfectly cooked and presented. Only regret was that I shouldn’t have driven as they have an excellent wine list! Highly recommended

We had a wonderful evening at The Oar in Doolin. The place is gorgeous, the wine list fantastic, and the food… out of this world. Between the six of us we had nearly everything on the menu and loved it all. I had the summer salad, halibut and soufflé - every bite was amazing. The staff couldn’t have been more attentive and friendly. Kieran came over to chat with us - he's warm and charming, and made the night even more memorable. He’s created something truly special here.

The owner was lovely and the food was divine! We ordered the steak and the salmon. We were treated to fresh oysters as well. This was our 2nd Michelin Star dining experience (1st overseas) and it did not disappoint. Highly recommend! Worth the drive!
Amy S — Google review
The place was absolutely great ! The room was super clean, pretty with all the amenities you could expect. But what was the best was the person that welcomed us with great tips about the area and made us save about 30€ at the Cliff of Mohers & have an awesome time there with barely anyone around. It was magical and worthed waking up a bit early. Thanks a millions ! Hope we'll come back and try the food !
3llie — Google review
Stayed & dined at The Oar on the first night of our 2-week driving tour. Kieran set the bar impossibly high for the rest of Ireland! Met the host when we arrived, he walked us up to our room & explained everything. What can I say about dinner at The Oar that so many Michelin stars don't? We ordered 2 courses each & that somehow turned into a 7-course meal. At the table for 2+ hours a steady cadence of dishes & "samples" brought to us. Every bite a delight. Book a night & table at The Oar WAY in advance. If you're flying into nearby Shannon, make it the first or last night of your stay. Thanks again Kieran, you're the best!
Evan K — Google review
Oar Restaurant & Rooms is a standout pick if you love food experiences and are okay with a modest but characterful stay. The restaurant is the star, and the rooms complement it nicely. If you’re heading that way, I’d highly recommend booking early (especially dinner) and asking for a room with a view.
Owen U — Google review
Have eaten here on a few occasions. Kieran helps to set a relaxed atmosphere and Roxy was friendly, professional and mannerly. The food is excellent. Whatever your taste it is catered for. If you are dining as a couple or as a larger group all are catered for. Whether the restaurant is full or empty on your visit, the standard is the same. Highly recommended, excellent experience.

Highly recommend staying here! The location is fantastic - super close to the Cliffs of Moher and close to some lovely pubs and restaurants in the area. The host was also fabulous and very helpful and easy to communicate with. The only feedback we can give is that the bathrooms could maybe do with some renovation.

Aille River Tourist Hostel & Camping Doolin is a popular accommodation located in the heart of Doolin, housed in a 300-year-old cottage. The family-friendly hostel offers basic quarters with shared kitchen facilities, a riverfront terrace, and Wi-Fi. Guests have praised the warm and comfortable rooms, some with en-suite bathrooms. The charming atmosphere and accommodating staff make it an ideal choice for travelers looking for an affordable and quiet stay.
Camping at this hostel is such a delight. You get the burbling river next to you, the distant sounds of Irish traditional music, and the soft soft grass underneath. The hostel is warm and welcoming with a great kitchen, always filled with a community of interesting travelers from across the world. The owners are kind and generous. I have stayed here for years, as has so many of the residents: a great sign in a place, when people want to go back!

It's very clean which I liked the most. I always check everything to see the cleanliness levels when I stay at places and this one passed. I believe it is overpriced for a hostel though. I found actual spa hotels that were cheaper than this hostel. I guess you're paying for the location but if you have a car, why not stay in an actual hotel? But it is quaint, cosy, I loved the real Irish feel to it. I loved the stone and inside aesthetic. Overall it was just fine. The scenery around the hostel is absolutely beautiful.
Marsha M — Google review
The rooms and facilities are okay. Nothing special, but things work and are clean enough. The downer is the atmosphere generated by two members of staff; one was there Friday/Saturday, the other on Sunday. Nothing dramatic, nothing horrific, just two people who really don't want or don't know how to make people feel welcome. I won't drop names since I'm sure they know who they are. To them: you might want to think about finding a job that doesn't involve dealing with the general public.

Wish I could review higher. The customer service is above and beyond. Before arriving our room experienced a leak (coming from the rainy west coast of Canada, we get it) and the owner, Robert, had already arranged alternate accommodation for us before arrival and communicated incredibly well about all of it. We feel incredibly well taken care of and couldn’t be more grateful. My mom also stayed here in 2019 and absolutely adored it - commented on how incredibly friendly the staff were and was very comfortable in her room. Already looking forward to a future visit one day.

Visited as a tourist couple. Exterior looked lovely. Spacious rooms and clean bathroom, private bathroom for our room. Nice communal area with a natural logfire. Skylight had a blind which was good. Sadly there was torrential rain battering the skylight which made it very difficult to sleep. Great location by the coast. Staff weren't overly friendly but passable. All rooms lockable so felt safe. Parking got a bit full at stages but we managed. Would definitely return!

Embark on a Cliffs of Moher Cruise from Doolin pier for an awe-inspiring view of the cliffs rising along the sea. The one-hour cruise offers a unique perspective, passing by the towering cliffs and Branaunmore sea stack. While getting very close to the cliffs may not be possible due to nature conservation, the cruise provides lighthearted commentary and ample photo opportunities. Visitors also recommend walking from Doolin Village to fully appreciate different views up close.
Absolutely beautiful sight to see! Unfortunately we went in the off season and the boats for tours are all closed during this time period. Luckily, I was able to get approval and snap some quick pictures with my drone (normally not allowed 🚫). Just be careful and do not get too close to the edge, it is very dangerous!

Nice to see the cliffs from a different perspective and enjoyed the lighthearted commentary onboard. Perhaps it’s because it’s a nature sanctuary the boat never gets very close so please bear that in mind. For me the highlight of the cliff was walking from Doolin Village to the visitor center as we get to fully appreciate the various views up close.

Traveled from Dublin by bus to visit this lovely location. Owners were a text away and very gracious. They were, of course, very knowledgeable about local areas to eat and visit. Our accommodation was a one story apartment with two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a small kitchen, a dining area, and a living room. There was a hot tub and washer/dryer also available. From here we took a bus to the Cliffs of Moher. We were a group of four, and loved our stay here. Thank you to our hosts.

Anthony's is a restaurant in Doolin that offers a range of delicious food options. The starters are especially noteworthy, with oysters and duck confit being popular choices. The quality of the ingredients is evident in the mains, with seafood dishes such as tagine proving particularly popular. The terrace has an amazing view of the town and is perfect for relaxing after a day spent exploring Doolin.
Get there early (before 6:30) or make sure you have a reservation! We saw many people turned away. Food was outstanding and full of nuanced flavors. We sat outdoors, with their blankets. We didn't even mind the smokers around us too much. We had scallops (catch if the day), daily soup (sweet potato and coconut), goat cheese cheesecake, and beef dripping fries and house salad. Everything was beautifully prepared. Definitely a winner! AND they have a parking lot. And they take American Express too.

Loved everything about here. Boris & the team are very welcoming and friendly. They were able to accommodate our group of four for a last minute meal with ease. The previous evening they welcomed us for a drink just before closing time. Our meal was excellent, from the service to the food itself. I thoroughly enjoyed the rigatoni while my husband demolished the seafood bake. Our friends enjoyed their Ragu and fish & chips. Once again, to Boris & everyone thank you for a wonderful experience.

My husband and I had just gotten off the boat from the Aran Islands and were looking for a delicious meal. Anthony’s at the Doolin Inn did not disappoint us! We had the goat cheesecake for an appetizer and the seafood linguine for dinner. Both were delicious! I typically ask for no pepper on my meals and I’m very sensitive and I appreciated the care they took to ask me if I was allergic as the sauce was made with some pepper but that it was not added in addition. I’m sure the pepper was there but I couldn’t taste it and it was delicious either way. Perfect meal! Thank you!

We had to wait at the door kinda long (sign said wait to be seated). I was surprised that nobody was near, just to see if anyone was waiting. But when the staff member arrived he was nice and friendly. We got a good table. Then our (table's) waiter was professional and polite. He explained the menu good, so we got a fair idea of what we would like to order and eat. The service was quick and good. I felt like our waiter knows exactly when he has to come over and when is the time to ask for the next order. The food was delicious. The soup was tasty and creamy. The chicken was very good, the burger was amazing. The vegetables were fresh and tasty. The desserts were also fantastic. There was live music inside which was really nice. We were sitting outside, but we could hear that. There are parking spaces for cars on two levels, at the back.

We loved our stay at Hotel Doolin. The staff at the front desk was so kind and helpful. It’s a lovely place. Food is amazing, especially that fish and chips, best one in Ireland! The portion of starters is quite huge. I ordered mussels and it came with a big bowl. I couldn’t finish my main at the time🤣 Bring some home and after reheating, it is still delicious!!! There is a group playing music as well, very chill! Their tent area also accommodates pets, would like to bring out lab next time ❤️

Amazing seafood restaurant in Doolin! It’s extremely popular, so reservations are highly recommended – though we were lucky to get a table after waiting at the bar for 15 minutes, thanks to the kind manager’s advice. The service was warm and welcoming, and the food was outstanding. We started with whipped goat cheese with dates, almonds, and hot honey – an incredible mix of flavors. For mains, we had the fish of the day (seabass) and lamb. Both were perfectly cooked: the fish was unbelievably fresh, and the lamb tender and flavorful. Even though we were nearly full, we couldn’t resist dessert – sticky toffee pudding and Eton mess – and both were absolutely delicious. And the cherry on top – they have live music every day, which makes the atmosphere even more special. Truly one of the best meals we’ve had in Ireland!

I never review restaurants but the lamb shoulder I had last night was the best lamb I’ve ever had. It was just cooked perfectly and absolutely delicious. The flavors developed in your mouth and danced on your palate. I know it’s a seafood restaurant, but the lamb is a must try!!!! I’ve eaten a lot of lamb in my life too so figured I’d rave about a great meal.

What a fab place for dinner. The mussels are really good in a very unique broth. Just lovely. Fish and chips is huge, and the sauces are delicious. Sea bream was cooked perfectly and was really fresh. Brilliant staff, great drinks, super meal.

Really recommend this restaurant! We were really lucky to beat the dinner crowd and seated right way without a reservation. Tuesday night and they were pack. We really enjoyed the coconut lemongrass soup, perfect for Ireland’s rainy day. All food was served piping hot and in a big portion. They have irish traditional live music every night too

We had a few drinks as well as the Wagu beef, mussels appetizer, sides of potato salad and the colcannon mashed potatoes. Wrapping the evening with Black Forest cheesecake. Today was my husbands birthday and the brought dessert with a candle and sang happy birthday… I merely mentioned in convo with the waitress it was his birthday did not ask for anything special. Drinks and food were great, service outstanding. All in all an excellent meal and service.

One of the best meals we have had in Ireland. Gorgeous rustic decor, relaxed vibe, good service and great food. We enjoyed the whole fish of the day and fish and chips. Loved the porn star martinis and the fish soup was amazing.

The food was incredible! There were times when the restaurant was super busy, and it took awhile for us to order another drink/receive our entree/refill out waters. I will say all the staff was very very nice, and incredibly hospitable!

Tour operator
Ollie's Tours offers award-winning tours and experiences in Doolin, including the popular Cliffs of Moher Hiking Tour and Aran Islands Bike Tours. The hiking tour is suitable for those with a moderate fitness level, providing exhilarating yet manageable uphill climbs with well-timed breaks. Participants can expect stunning views along the 8km walk, accompanied by engaging storytelling about Irish history and culture from knowledgeable guides.
5 stars here! Ollie the owner was full of beans, great stories and so welcoming, his knowledge of the area and willingness to share it as well as other tour experiences was refreshing; he was kind enough to drive us to to start the hike from the other end because the weather was a bit more rugged than usual - a true lad. I was originally planning to do the hike solo, but I’m so glad I decided to join Ollie’s Tours instead — it completely transformed the experience! Our guide Sofia was nothing short of amazing. Her deep knowledge, warm care, and infectious sense of fun made the day feel incredibly special from start to finish. Sofia brought the landscape to life with stories and insights I never would’ve discovered on my own. She made everyone feel comfortable and connected, and her passion for the area was truly inspiring. I ended the day feeling enriched, grateful, and already planning my return. Highly recommend this tour — and if you get Sofia as your guide, you’re in for an unforgettable day!

This hike from Doolin to the Cliffs of Moher was exceptional! With Sophia as our guide, we could not have asked for a better way to experience this highlight of our Ireland trip. She was generous with her knowledge and her passion for the history and countryside were infectious. What a gift to see the incredible views of the famous cliffs by climbing along and getting the best views possible.

Have you ever gotten home from a vacation and tried to find that best moment? My husband and I were talking about the highlights of our month long trip as we drove home from the airport last night. We agreed that our hike along the Cliffs of Moher was definitely the BEST! (Munich, London and other adventures along the West Counties gave Ollie's Tours a run for the best moment, but our guide Phill & the gorgeous scenery made it the winner.) From the moment we met in Doolin until we parted ways at the trails end, Phill was engaging, conscious about safety and shared tons of history. Because of Phill, the hike exceeded our expectations. There were five more friends in our group and they absolutely loved the hike, too. Since I organized the tour, I looked like a hero by the end of it. I do have to give all the credit to my new friend Dean at Ollie's who not only answered all of my MANY emails but also helped organize transport from Galway to Doolin and back after our cruise. He even made sure we had our tickets sorted and kept us company until we boarded the ferry. Phil and Dean were both incredibly helpful but also wicked funny. We laughed a lot. A lot. So if you have a free day, you won't regret spending it with Ollie's Tours!

We did the Cliffs of Moher tour from Galway and this tour was absolutely incredible. This was our first time in Ireland and we were apprehensive about hiking the cliffs since we heard certain areas of the cliffs were closed. I am so glad we didn’t let the cliff closure stop us because this tour was amazing! We had a few questions since we were being picked up from Galway and not Doolin and both Ollie and Dean were incredibly responsive and helpful. We got picked up by Dean and he was the kindest person we’ve met here! He taught us a lot about Ireland and the region as we drove to Doolin. We had such a wonderful time chatting with him and it felt like talking with a close friend. Once we arrived in Doolin, we went as a small group (which was great for an intimate tour) up to the cliffs. Our guide for the cliffs was Osin and he was so knowledgeable and friendly. The views were INCREDIBLE! We hiked for about 3 hours and it was worth every second. As someone who is afraid of heights, I was nervous but Osin ensured our safety and helped us navigate the trails with ease. He made sure we all had plenty of time to take pictures along the way and gave us time for breaks (as needed). After the hike, we had lunch at a pub in Doolin then headed back to Galway. Overall, I cannot say enough good things about this touring company. Dean and Onis went above and beyond to make this tour incredible. There’s a lot of tour companies out there, but it’s all about the customer service and boy did Ollie’s Tours deliver. The pictures attached don’t do this tour justice. You have to experience it for yourself in person - there’s truly nothing else like it!

We did the Cliffs of Moher hike with Simon and he was excellent. He really put our safety first, and since I had my 7 and 10 year olds with me, that was really important to me. Simon touched on everything from history to geology to lore, and was a great guide. The walk itself wasn't very difficult, but be aware that there is a good deal of uphill/elevation on the path. Definitely wear hiking boots to combat the mucky/muddy/uneven path. We got some incredible views of the cliffs and never once felt unsafe. I would 100% recommend it to anyone who wants to avoid the mad tourism rush of the cliffs and experience the real beauty in a peaceful way, with a handful of cool people. Thank you, Simon!

We had Tommy for the Walking Tour of Ennis! So knowledgeable and interesting. We had a great tour with history lessons also taught about some local lore. After our tour he also gave us some suggestions for wandering and eateries. Highly suggest taking this tour to get better acquainted with Ennis!

My girlfriends and I did a private tour from Galway to the cliffs and it was probably the highlight of our trip to Ireland. Phil, our guide was fantastic and full of so much great information about history and local culture. He picked us up directly from our Airbnb in Galway, which was really nice. The weather was a bit of a beast that day (gale force winds and threatening to storm at any moment) so Phil arranged for us to the hike the trail in reverse to outrun the storms — and we made it! The trails are mostly wide and and smooth surface. If you can walk 5 miles you should have no trouble completing the hike (especially going in reverse like we did which was all downhill). The cliffs, the water, and the green rolling hills are all just stunning. After the hike we had pints at a pub in Doolin and then Phil suggested the loveliest seafood restaurant right on the water where we had probably the best smoked salmon of our life! We invited Phil to join us for lunch and it was so much fun to continue to pick his brain and ask so many questions about Irish life, local culture, etc. All in all was an amazing day and I'm so happy we booked the private tour with Ollie's tours. Would recommend to anyone!!

We had a lovely tour on Inisheer by bike and guided by Eleanor. She had insightfull stories about the area which were delivered in a funny and engaging way. Highlights were the visit of the Plassey Shipwreck and the scones at café Una, where we learned more about daily island life in Ireland.

Hiking Trails
Doolin Cliff Walks offer rugged hikes along the trails leading to the dramatic Cliffs of Moher in County Clare, Ireland. The roughly three-hour guided trail, led by local historian and farmer Pat Sweeney, spans just under five miles from Fisherstreet in Doolin to the Cliffs of Moher visitor center. This challenging uphill hike provides incredible views and a unique perspective on the area's history and landscape.
The best cliff walk ever. And it is quite a cliff - Pat takes you close to the edge on a path that hugs the cliffs. We lucked out on a nice sunny day. Views were stunning. Pat told us wonderful stories along the way. I love how he and the Doolin farming community built the trail and fortified the portions near the visitor center. Definitely the highlight of the west coast of Ireland and the BEST way to experience the Cliffs of Moher.
Cynthia T — Google review
Fantastic activity! Pat and Vincent were outstanding guides and kept us all spellbound with their stories and history. A little over three hours walking but a fairly easy downhill gradient. A few gates to climb/walk over. As long as you’re reasonably able the walk is achievable. Well worth the money!
Steve B — Google review
I was not thrilled when I heard a 3 hour walking tour had been booked because I’ve got the attention span of a toddler but this was a once a lifetime experience. Three hours flew by and I could have stayed for hours. A unique experience you absolutely must do if visiting Ireland. Like we’re talking top 5 sights you need to see before you die. I was really invested in seeing “the cliffs of insanity” from princess bride and this did not disappoint. Even got to hear a solid story about Andre the Giant
Kayla H — Google review
Without a doubt our favorite part of our Ireland trip. Pat and Vincent were so kind and knowledgeable. They shared such interesting info on Irish history and culture and truly took time to get to know us and offer suggestions on our itinerary. The views were breathtaking and the hike was moderate at times but overall easy. Lying on the edge of the cliffs was a bucket list moment and seeing the wild ponies at the end was the cherry on top. My only Ireland travel advice is to book this tour!
Alex A — Google review
Patrick was an amazing guide. Understanding the history of the trail, and getting up close and personal views of the cliffs was an experience beyond compare. It is all basically uphill from nearly sea level to an elevation of 700 ft, so some physical capabilities are necessary, but he stopped periodically and kept the group safe and together. I highly recommend it!
Livy B — Google review
We loved every step of the tour. Pat and Vincent are true locals with so much character. They kept it fresh and had us all laughing with the ham and egg shows. Highly recommend their tour.
Bill O — Google review
Pat and Vincent were excellent guides and the cliff walk was equally magical and informative despite the gloomy weather!

A few days after visiting the Cliffs of Moher via the visitor’s center, we decided to go back with the Doolin Cliff Walks. We are SO thankful we did! What an incredible experience to walk from Doolin, with increasing altitude, through Irish farmland, safely along the cliffs’ edge, with the expertise & stories of a generationally local guide. As the Cliffs loomed larger & grew out of the landscape we heard local anecdotes, enjoyed private views, and learned of life growing up on the Cliffs. From puffins to private precipices, the Doolin Cliff Walks is the “Best of the Cliffs of Moher.” Highly recommend!

Museum
Killilagh Medieval Church, also known as St. Felie or Cill Fhaile, is a historic site with a rich past. The church is named after St. Felie and the Killilagh stone head was discovered in the Shoemaker's Grave nearby. Additionally, the MacNamara tomb, which once served as a temporary jail during the "Troubles," can be found in close proximity to the church.
We stumbled across this ruin while staying at the nearby Wild Meadow Huts. An easy stroll or very short drive from upper Doolin.

This is a cemetery that is more than 100 years old. My Grandmother Jane McCarthy (Fitzgerald) is buried here, it's been impossible so far to identify which grave is her's.
Raymond C — Google review
This thousand year old church is largely in ruins, surrounded by ancient and modern graves from locals, but you can still feel the history of this place and the significance to the surrounding communities. Access is through a gate, and you can drive right up to it, unlike many ruins in the area.

A cool old partial structure and cemetery. Loved seeing all the old grave sites.

This is the old parish church of Doolin , no longer in use. The graveyard is maintained by Doolin Heritage a local volunteer group. Has great views of the surrounding landscape. Beautiful historical home with amazing views of the Cliffs of Moher and the Aran Islands! We had the entire 6 room house to ourselves and it was so comfortable. An easy 15 minute walk to McDermots pub made for a nice evening out with live music and good Craic! Beautiful rooms with great period furnishings and nice modern bathrooms.

This is a beautiful country house run, highly recommended. The owner was super helpful and accommodating for my group who rented the entire house for one night in October. A stone's throw away from the centre of Doolin, the accommodation offered everything we needed and more. The dining room was fantastic for entertaining everyone and the bedrooms clean and comfortable. Everything about our stay was wonderful.

2nd most comfortable place we have stayed. The room we had was spacious and well lit. The people we met were truly lovely. There is a sitting room that faces the sea, and on clear days you get great views of the ocean, the Cliffs of Moher, and Inisheer. Our hosts were friendly, the sheep in the yards around the home were absolutely a pleasure to see, and the atmosphere was lovely. The home is a 10 minute walk from the north side of Doolin, which is a little less touristy. We had no trouble finding places to eat, due to being on this side of town. There are plenty of spacious parking spots in their parking lot.

This was the most beautiful place that I stayed in all of Ireland. The honeymoon suite is the worth the few extra euros even though I was alone. I loved sitting in my own chair looking out over the fields to the sea, the Aran Islands, and a bit of the Cliffs of Moher. Beautiful bed & bath. Breakfast cooked to order from a large menu and done perfectly. It's a bit of a walk to town but lots of parking available for your car. This was a wonderful comfortable place that I highly recommend.

The view of the cliffs of moher from the room was amazing. The bathroom did have some mold stains on the ceiling but nothing that couldn't be easily fixed. Keep in mind there is only breakfast here and if you want lunch or dinner you'll have to make the short trip into town about 1km away. We walked down to one of the three pubs just down the road and had a lovely dinner and conversation with other travelers.

Really enjoyed our stay here. It's a spacious family run place and the people who own it are lovely! We had several great conversations with them throughout our stay and they advised us on the best places to eat/visit locally. Our room was large and had an outstanding view which you could see the islands from. Breakfast was very good also, with a large selection to choose from. The fruit salad, in particular, went down a treat for us and we were all catered for, with one vegetarian. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay here!

Give this place a chance. They are wonderful. This is a beautiful old fashion feel country house. The bedroom was very spacious,.The beds were very comfortable and the bathroom was clean. The lounge area was very comfortable. The home cooked breakfast were delicious. My son loved the scrambled eggs. It was so pleasant to simply stand/sit outside and enjoy the fresh air and the early morning sounds of nature. The staff was very accommodating. The little boy is such a hard worker. My son really enjoyed his time with Shadow (the Irish Setter).

Fish & chips restaurant
Russell's Fishshop is a new take-out eatery in Doolin that combines tradition with a modern approach to seafood. It is born from a collaboration between Gus O'Connor's Pub and the Online Academy of Irish Music, offering high-quality Irish cuisine. The menu at Russell's emphasizes local, sustainable ingredients, bringing farm and fish to fork in a delightful array of flavors.
Stopped in her for a quick lunch while my friends and I were in Doolin. Was very impressed by the fish and chips we ordered and the quick service! There were seating options both inside and outside but since it was a cooler day we chose to sit indoors. The man who served us was so funny and had a great sense of humour! We enjoyed listening to his banter with guests as they stopped in to order. Would definitely recommend!
Pippa G — Google review
An interesting place; we ate in the outside wooden pods as we had two dogs with us and interestingly each pod had a heating lamp above the table should you need it, which was considerate of the owners. The take-away menu was somewhat limited with only one type of fish (cod), a Berger, Sausage etc and one vegetarian dish based upon sweet potato. The chips were crisp and were cooked in beef dripping but fortunately the effect was not overpowering as it can be with such cooking methods. The fish had a thin crisp batter and was not in any way oily which was good but the fish didn’t have the density of a typical freshly caught cod which was curious. The dine in menu seemed much more developed so as a take-away experience I wouldn’t rush to return if I were in the area.
Mal J — Google review
I am a frequent visitor to Doolin and I first ordered food from Russell’s in May 2025 after seeing some positive reviews on social media. I ordered their Fried Atlantic Prawn Scampi for take-out and selected a pickup time online through their website. My order was ready when I arrived to collect it and I went along my merry way back to where I was staying. I was not disappointed by the quality of the food (which was good), but I was very disappointed with the quantity, there was just 6 pieces of Fried Atlantic Prawn Scampi in the box, 2 of which were extra small and a box full of chips. It felt like it was a very expensive box of chips. I did provide Russell’s with this feedback online hoping for a response but I got no response from them - I prefer to offer negative feedback to business directly rather than having to submit public reviews.

I was here in 2022 and I thought I already gave this place a review which was a good review in 2022 food was brilliant, well I came back again in 2025 and the food wasn't as good, I'll put both of the pictures up and judge for yourself, service was ok wasn't a local , unimpressed this year with everything and it not cheaper either, I'll try again next time I'm in Doolin and hopefully it will get back to the 2022 standard which was perfection fish and chips with a few bits on the side
Paul — Google review
Always love the food in Russell's Fish shop. Decided to be adventurous & try something new so went for the chargrilled sweet potato. The dish was lovely but felt €16 was very steep for 3 pieces of sweet potato 🫤 it's a side dish not a main, price should reflect that.
Melanie O — Google review
Absolutely excellent. Great service, excellent food. Brilliant prices. Highly recommend the fish and chips, and the onion rings. Indoor seating and outdoor seating with shelter and even heaters, and a lovely view of the Aran Islands too. Been there twice now and the food portions are massive, excellent value for money. Tends to be nice and quiet too. Yes. Thank you.

Good fish and chips. Everything comes out "to-go" but there is limited seating inside and a large outdoor seating area. You order, get a buzzer and then have to come back and get your food. Very minimal service model. Finding the bathrooms was an adventure.

We ate at the cafe and this was the best fish and chips we had in Ireland. We also ordered the prawn scampi with chips and the fried chicken burger. The chips were fresh cut. Everyone should come here after the cliffs of Moher! There is ample seating outside and around the back.

Beautiful walk but be careful walking over some of those wet stones. They can be very slippery. I took a mild spill over one of them. But they are overall breathtaking and lead to the beautiful and mysterious ruin Poulnaborne

Tony! As a tour guide, what do I say about the Dublin lad living the dream in the heart of the Burren ... he is my favourite guide in the land. His humanity, expertise, storytelling is exceptional. I'll stop now 'cos like a good Irish lad he can't take compliments either ... ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Book him for sure, be quick he sells out fast.

April 2, 2024 We are an Australian couple with links to Ireland. My family came to Geelong in 1852 from Kilfenora County Clare and we have always been interested in our Irish connections. We did a tour of the Burrren with Mary O’Dea and I would recommend her tour. Mary is a font of knowledge and her informed and interesting commentary about everything from Irish life, geology, plants and ancient history kept us transfixed throughout the tour. The tour was wonderful and a ‘must do’ when visiting County Clare.

Best experience in Ireland If you want to penetrate the mystery and magic of the Burren-- go on Tony Kirby's walk. Geology, botany, agriculture, poetry, religion--Tony's tour weaves together many threads to bring the Burren into focus. Don't miss it!

Tony unlocked Ireland for me. In between spurts of actual walking, we talked about glaciation, immigration, the Irish diaspora, Oscar Wilde, the EU, neolithic pastoral practices, geopolitics, deforestation, and whisky. If you ever have the opportunity, I recommend a walk on the Burren with Tony.

Though the day was not a sunny one, the experience was tremendous! I'd highly suggest taking a break from the regular tourist traps around Ireland, walk with Tony for a guided, authentic view of the Burren, its nature, and history.

This short hike was packed with sights, facts, and fascination! So many encounters with a landscape are horizontal affairs, and the appreciation and engagement goes left to right, forward and backward. Tony's awareness and insights, delivered with humor and a sense of custody, make one sense an appreciation of the vertical. I grew conscious of the Burren as a deep history below my feet that informed the flora and fauna on its surface and conducted a relationship to the open sky above. Highly recommended!

It is clear that Tony is knowledgable about The Burren. He provided us with information about the geology, fauna, and history of this amazing place. He knew the area and the people. But perhaps more importantly, it was evident that he was passionate and dedicated to the park. He was excited to be there and show it to us. Tony's insight about the park was unique and will probably be one of the things I remember most about my first trip to Ireland. If you are interested in learning I would really suggest this tour. I would certainly take one again!

His store is filled with beautiful Irish keepsakes and fine jewelry and authentic clothing. His prices are unbeatable. I highly recommend this shop to anyone visiting Ballyvaughan! #5🌟

A really nice shop with a very friendly owner. We bought goat milk soaps which smell great. The owner even made sure that we received the items we wanted after the store closed. 🧼👍

(Translated by Google) There used to be a great gift shop, but its soul has moved to Ennistymon. Even the shop windows are almost empty. You could buy handmade jewellery here before. Some of it could be fixed right in front of you. There's no point in writing about what was. Life goes on in the gallery in Ennistymon. Seek and you shall find. Recommended. There's a nice cafe opposite. And on Saturdays, the cultural life continues in the Hall next door. There's a food market and interesting handmade souvenirs.

Doolin Music House

Musician
Event venue
Immerse yourself in the rich tradition of Irish music at Doolin Music House, hosted by renowned musician Christy Barry and his partner Sheila Quinn. This unique experience offers an evening filled with local tunes, captivating stories, and warm hospitality. As you enjoy the authentic music played by Christy and his friends, indulge in a selection of local cheese and crackers paired with fine wine.
Pete and I visited Christy and Sheila's a couple of nights ago. They were so welcoming. It was a pleasure to be invited into their home snd listen to the stories, history and music Christy was able to tell. He brought Irish life alive over the last 100 years, and spoke in depth of some of the people he held dear. The supper was lovely, prepared by Sheila and her neighbour. We were invited to the Roadside pub to enjoy more music as Christy was meeting friends there. I can honestly say it was the best evening we had spent in Doolin. Far better than going to the pub. Thank you Christy and Sheila. We hope to come back next year, and will be sure to visit again.

This was a wonderful evening in Doolin with our Connect the Dots Tour. We were treated to Irish music played by three local gentlemen. It was very enjoyable and relaxing. They told us stories about playing in Doolin all their lives. It was great learning about their culture directly from them. We were served light refreshments which were very much appreciated. And at the end, we enjoyed some dancing to their music! I would highly recommend visiting.

This is excellent. I work as a tour guide and Doolin Music House has been on my list for a long time. The musicians, Chirsty, Conor and James, were masters of their trade. Their storytelling is as good. They transport you back into the essence of what made Doolin the focal point of Irish traditional music. Sheila holds the house in great style and hospitality too. A truly great Irish home experience. Be sure to schedule your day in the area to include a visit. Highly recommended. Thank you to all of you.

A really enjoyable experience! A down home Irish music experience unlike all of the pubs which played contemporary music the same as we could hear at home. Delightful stories about the history of music in the Doolin area between songs. Keeping the traditions alive! Highly recommended!
Steve K — Google review
Visited them for a performance last night. What a treat. Most genuine hospitality with friendship and happiness extended through stories and traditional Irish music. A must experience.

This stop was a highlight of our tour! Great music snacks and wine too!

In the presence of masters! Christy is a legend, but the musicians that join him are also extraorindary! We had the added pleasure of a breathtaking solo from Conor Kean of his 'Star of Brittany'. It was both sad and beautiful at the same time. Sheila and her friends were lovely hosts and served lovely beverages and light snacks of smoked salmon and local cheeses. Don't miss an opportunity to visit The Doolin Music House!
