IKEA Heerlen is a Scandinavian retail chain that offers a wide range of ready-to-assemble furniture and household items in a warehouse-style setting. The store provides ample parking facilities and competitive prices, making it a convenient option for shoppers. Additionally, there are various food outlets available, including cafes and ice cream stands during the summer months. While the quality of the food may not be exceptional, it serves as a quick option to satisfy hunger while exploring the vast store.
IKEA’s KAFFEREP range is an absolute favorite of mine, especially the Ginger Thins, Sugar-Free Oat Biscuits, and the Oat Biscuits with Chocolate. The Ginger Thins are perfectly spiced and crispy, a classic treat that pairs beautifully with tea. The Sugar-Free Oat Biscuits are light, wholesome, and guilt-free, making them a great everyday snack. And the Oat Biscuits with Chocolate? Simply divine! The rich chocolate layer adds a perfect touch of indulgence to the hearty oat base. These biscuits are a must-buy every time I visit IKEA!

My favourite ikea in the area. They have mostly lots of discounts. Lovely cafe shop inside on the first floor. Definitely must try it. And also nice restaurant with affordable meals and tasty cakes.
Angelique A — Google review
Over the past year, I’ve visited IKEA several times and on a few occasions tried their hot dogs. Unfortunately, the quality has become consistently disappointing. The hot dog buns are sticky on the inside and cling unnaturally to the sausage. The bread tastes overwhelmingly sweet, more like sugar than proper bread, which makes it feel cheap and unhealthy. The sausage itself is of very poor quality. When biting into it, it’s often still pink inside and has an unpleasant “cracking” texture rather than the normal bite you’d expect. This makes the entire eating experience unappetizing. The condiments are offered in shared bulk dispensers, which feels unhygienic. It would be far better to provide individual packets, even if it cost a small extra fee. On top of that, the sauces taste bland and artificial, again dominated by sweetness instead of flavor. Additionally, the checkout process has become unnecessarily frustrating. Whether at the main store or the food section, the self-checkout requires too many clicks and forces product suggestions that customers do not want, slowing everything down.

I wish I could rate this store with one star. I have been waiting for my order to be delivered for a month. When the data arrives I inform them that I won’t be home in the estimated delivery time. For that reason they gave me a new estimate for a 9 hour frame which I waited for. After receiving no updates and not having my order delivered I contacted them and they told me that due to technical issues all the deliveries of that day weren’t delivered. They let me know that my order would be here the following day. After again waiting and hearing no updates I contacted them only for this time to tell me that the delivery truck crushed and all my furniture were damaged and they need to re order them from Sweden. The new delivery date was for a month later. Ultimately they cancelled my order completely due to again a technical issue. The worst company ever they don’t respect your time money or energy.

Shitty and very unfriendly customer service in this particular Ikea by a particular person at the help desk. Even when she called a colleague and when I started explaining MY problem to him I was really rude interrupted and that SHE would explain MY problem, taking the colleague aside as like I was lying (while simply referring and showing the WRITTEN email from custumore service on my phone) Thank god the national customer service has set it straight. Also one of the other people at the help desk 1 hour later helped me out in a friendly way, even it was a minute before closing time. So thumbs up for those people but the rude way I was treated for having my first issue after being a client for over 20 years by this young lady with a really crappy attitude results in a 1 star review. This apple made the whole basket sour. For those who experience the same my advice is simply to leave the shop and call the general custumor service, the phone service people do help in a friendly and polite manner.
Kriske D — Google review
The customer service is unfortunately not well managed. We had our kitchen done with IKEA Netherlands, but now we have an issue with some of the cabinet doors. We contacted customer service online, they inspected and told us to bring the doors in for an immediate replacement. But when we went to IKEA Heerlen in person, they said it’s not possible. Now we’re stuck with our doors in hand. It’s been two weeks since they promised to call us back. Every day they say “we’ll call you tomorrow.” Meanwhile, we’re waiting with a half-functional, doorless kitchen. How long is this going to take is uncertain. We live in on boarder of Nederlands but probably i will never ever buy anything from Heerlen again.

I would like to share a bad experience that we had as family at Ikea Heerlen. We were in the region last weekend and on Sunday the 31st of August we decided to pass by your store to eat at the restaurant and buy a few things for the room of our son. We had to drive approximately 30 minutes from Vaals with having in mind that the IKEA restaurant is closing at 17:30. We did arrive at 17:05 Infront of the entrance of the restaurant and out of nowhere we were not allowed to enter in the queue to order. The employee without any explanation said the queue is closed. This is 25 minutes before the official closing time. As you can imagine me, my wife and our 3 kids were very disappointed. As a result we did leave your store without buying anything (we were thinking to buy goods of at least 500 EUR). You need either to keep getting restaurant orders until 17:30 or put in your website information that orders stop at specific time. Get your stuff together!

Kinderstad Heerlen is an indoor amusement park perfect for kids aged 3 to 12, offering a variety of rides including roller coasters and bumper cars. It's a great option for spending time with kids during bad weather or celebrating a child's birthday. While the cost of food can be high, visitors are allowed to bring their own snacks and drinks. The park can get busy, so it's important to plan accordingly.
Amazing place. Roller coaster, water boats, bump cars, trampolines, slides and many more. This place keeps kids busy for all day long with short breaks for yummy snacks. Super value for money. Definitely recommend this place.
Magdalena — Google review
The kids liked it. If you have some time to kill on a rainy day the kids will have fun. But it was very loud in there. Of course there will be a lot of noise, when kids are playing, but they tried to overpower the noise by playing really loud music. It was also extremely hot and humid despite the weather outside beeing cloudy and raining. My husband had to go outside several times to get some air. If you go here bring your own food and drinks. The food isn't very good. An example is the burger that tasted like sausage and instead of ketchup or mayo it had some kind of salsa, which was way to spicy for our kids. The signs on the door says you are not allowed to bring fast food from places like McD, KFC or Burger King. One more thing to be aware of is that you can't turn anywhere without seeing claw machines and other things that cost extra money. The last thing I will add is that I think the entry fee should be paid by height instead of age. Our three year old missed out on a lot of rides despite paying full price because she is shorter than 95 cm.
Monica B — Google review
Poor ventilation! 9 months ago I came here and there was not only a bad ventilation but even the air conditioners were not working! Today, the weather is so warm outside, and inside, they switched off the air conditioners. They also switched off the fans!!! Many small children have a red face of the heat!! I spoke to the contractor manager, a lady in the cantina, and told her to switch on at least the fans to ventilate the air, then the lady said it is only 5 days per year that the weather becomes too warm, and that they will not switch on the fans and they don't care if I placed review online! My observation, they're nice ladies but not taking feedback in a professional context. They take it personally while they are responsible for managing this asset and the safety of people inside. It seems they're trying to reduce cost, and I think they should be aware that good ventilation is a mandatory thing for the safety and health of children. I highly recommend a high control from authorities over the safety and good air circulation and ventilation measures. They just opened partially the big gates from beneath, besides the windows in the ceiling for ventilation. For visitors, I highly recommend having a lot of drinks and juice for children in heat to compensate for the loss of liquid in the body.

Kinderstad Heerlen is a great spot for a fun family day out. The facilities are a bit older, but that actually adds a nostalgic charm. There are several play zones to explore, including tall slides, “boomstammen” (log ride), a small roller coaster, and two bumper car areas – one for younger kids and one for older ones. There’s plenty of seating for parents, and most kids end up playing barefoot or in socks. You can easily spend 4–5 hours here without running out of things to do. I’d recommend visiting on days when it’s around 20–25°C – otherwise it can get a bit too chilly or too warm inside. Overall, a great mix of classic fun and variety that keeps kids happy for hours.

Kids ages 3 to 12 would like this indoor fun park well. Perfect place for bad weather to spend time with kids ,Since there is no air conditioning, it is not suggested during the hot summer. A good venue to celebrate a child's birthday. Theme park located indoors In addition to a carrousel and two roller coasters, it also has other rides. Despite the high cost of food, you can bring your own snacks and beverages. The 2 euros for all-day parking is the best part.
Varun D — Google review
For an indoor playground it is quite big and fair pricing. In my opinion the music is too loud but the rides are very special for such a location. Especially the indoor roller coaster. Prices for food are quite fair. The decororation could have a little upgrade.
Christian — Google review
Used to be a nice place but has become badly frequented. A boy slaping a young girl, his mom spitting on the girl's parents when they come to report the facts, and the Kinderstad staff just does nothing. Doesn't look like they're gonna do anything to improve the situation. Better stay away from that place if you care about your children wellbeing!

Supermarket
Grocery store
Albert Heijn is a well-known supermarket chain in the Netherlands, offering a good range of products and essential kitchen utensils. The staff is friendly and helpful, and the store features seven self-checkout registers. Additionally, there are plenty of plants and flowers available for purchase. While parking is usually ample and affordable, it can be challenging to find a spot on busy days. However, there are free parking spaces behind the shopping center.
Very helpful, polite staff. They translated the wording on the packaging from Dutch to English for us, so we chose the correct product.
Jim W — Google review
Awesome experience shopping with the app, just wish it was in English too. Otherwise great supermarket.
Tyron-Nicklaus N — Google review
We did our shopping today at Albert Heijn in Heerlen. This shop is not as big as Maastricht, but wel equipped and stocked? The personal are very helpful and friendly. There is sufficient parking also for handicapped persons.
Jan H — Google review
Even though it's bigger than others AH they have the same level of gluten free food (compared to the one in Sittard that has more options being a big bigger) For the rest is okay!
Moriel R — Google review
Again they cut another kassa and it isn't even open.. Pushes everyone to self scan. If you say well I want to pay cash, they have ability to do that now with self scan. Be wary, in a year we have no cashiers anymore.. But they check you scanned everything so much they might as well just keep the kassa open!!! Only gets 3 stars because mostly I can get everything I need in one store and most workers are friendly but more and more I'm doing my shopping in Germany where they have cashiers, cash, and lower prices. Border cities should be nervous in nl...
Laura M — Google review
Nice supermarket. Good assortment. Enough parking space available right in front of the store
Karl-Gustav O — Google review
Large supermarket, friendly staff and they also have the most essential kitchen utensils. Seven self checkout registers and plenty of plants and flowers. Usually more than enough parking spaces, but on busy days you could be out of luck. Plus: parking is cheap, but not free. There are however plenty of parking spaces behind the shopping centre and those are free.
Tom D — Google review

PLT - Theater Heerlen is an impressive performing arts venue with multiple stages hosting a diverse range of performances, including musicals, cabaret, pop music, and blues nights. The main stage with its stunning balconies has earned it recognition as one of the top five city theatres in the Netherlands. However, some patrons have reported long wait times for drinks during breaks on the big stage due to insufficient staff.

Okay room, but very bad timing for drink service during break. Need to wait a long time before getting your drink and then just a few minutes enjoying a strong beer, the break is over without the option to take it with you... Last time I go here. Is it a sprint or whatever? No nice night out. Only a tight schedule.

Beautiful theatre. Well organized. Beautiful decorations and facilities. The only complaint that I would have is that the upstairs bar, didn't have prosecco or 0% radlers so we had to go down twice to order what we wanted at the downstairs bar. A small thing you can change to make the experience amazing.

Swedish restaurant
The IKEA Restaurant Heerlen offers a variety of Swedish-inspired dishes, including classic meatballs and salmon. The restaurant provides plenty of options for fish, meat, and vegetarian meals at affordable prices. While the queue can get long on busy days, the friendly staff and ample seating make the wait bearable. However, some patrons have noted that the selection of beverages has become more limited in recent years. Despite this, customers appreciate the well-organized hygiene rules and social distancing measures in place.
Cheesecake and chocolate mud cake are amazing! Chickenschnitzel+fries or veggie balls are great too!
Anshya U — Google review
Sure! Here’s your corrected version with natural English: ⸻ The meatballs with their sauce, mashed potatoes, and lingonberry jam were amazing. It was the first time I tried them, and all the flavors together were really good. The rice with vegetables (broccoli, carrots, peppers, peas, and pieces of ginger) was a little bit spicy, but it was okay. There was also unlimited refills of water and hot water with different types of tea. The restaurant was clean and tidy, and the staff were nice and friendly. The prices are great. If you’re shopping here, I totally recommend grabbing a bite.
Catherine G — Google review
Very nice Swedish food, employees are friendly and helpful, hygiene rules and distancing are well organized and done, everything has been great
Kerstin P — Google review
Came back twice after a couple years of absence. A far cry from what the restaurant used to be. Both times huge disappointment from limited choice to Nazi-style you will eat this combination only to the miserable portion size to staff members who don’t care to be there. Never again. Bye bye!
Christine C — Google review
Decent restaurant with plenty of options - fish, meat and vegetarian. On busy days there's a queue, but it's not too bad. Prices have gone up in recent years but it's still affordable. Only downside for me is that they used to have proper sodas and now it's all 'healthy' (they offer cola, but I'm pretty sure it's diet). Shame, as I like to make my own choices, but I understand why they do it. Friendly staff, plenty of seating (wheelchair accessible as well).
Tom D — Google review
Veggie Balls aren't that quite tasty tbh. Sauce for the pasta was too little if you don't ask for more. Only one cashier was opened at that time that it made a queue. Not much of a choice of food to chose from. The conveyer belt for dirty dishes was amazing. Flag of Sweden on the balls was a nice touch.
Jihad A — Google review
Really not good for food on restaurant Fish was frozen, texture gone, taste gone Really poor veggie balls falling apart and poor taste too Concept of Ikea is fine but for this quality the price should be half or lower? Big stairs when you come in 😡
Christopher W — Google review
This IKEA restaurant has the worst procedure I’ve ever seen. You need the corona QR code as well as an identification card to accompany it! I’ve never been checked for ID in order to eat at a restaurant. We are not Dutch citizens so our ID look different and the staff were very confused and didn’t speak English. What a mess.

Restaurant Graffiti is a unique and funky eatery that may look run down from the outside, but boasts a cool and cozy interior. Hotel
Function room facility
The Van der Valk Hotel in Heerlen offers stylish accommodations with balconies/terraces, as well as buffet dining, an indoor pool, and a spa. Situated at the main train station along the N281, it is conveniently accessible. The rooms are exceptionally roomy and contemporary, while the swimming pool included is also excellent. Breakfast is average compared to other Van der Valk Hotels which perform better in this regard. However, dinner is satisfying and served promptly.
Lovely time spent in family. The room was spacey, the shower box was amazing. The breakfast was good, but not "mind-blowing". The pool was very nice. The restaurant for lunch and dinner was amazing. The service was super nice. The hotel had a "luxury" feeling but suitable for families. Well done to all!

Well equipped rooms, clean and good beds. Coffee / tea facility available. Good price / quality. Breakfast and dinner are okay. We also had a couple of times a dinner here while we stayed somewhere else or just came by. It’s always good, enough choice on the menu.

One of the finest places I ever visited. Staff, rooms, food was all great. Location is a bit off from city center, which meant it was a more quiet area. The grounds they have are really wonderful to stroll around in as well. It was pricey because high season but overall worth it for the experience too!

Service was really bad. Women on reception did everything to ruin our good memories from being there. It’s all started at the hotel bar there we went to had some drinks. We asked for a bill but our waitress forget about it and after 15 minutes of waiting we went directly at bar and paid. And next morning during check out receptionist started accusing us of stealing. She told us that she doesn’t have any information about us paying at the bar. I told her “well now you have, because we told you, and you kinda have to believe us since we are your guests here”. But she didn’t care, she just wanted us to feel bad. This is anything but not the hospitality. And believe me she knew what she was doing with a big grin on her face. I was speechless. she kept saying “I will check this information with my colleagues”. And keep smiling like a creep. Very unprofessional. Ruin our good mood over 14 euros. Pathetic really. And all this situation was so preventable. Of course you can ask later your colleagues from bar, of course they will tell you that we paid. But she needed to show us that she don’t trust us.

We used their pool and spa facilities, as we stayed at their Kasteel TerWorm and this is included into the room booking. The pool is nice, but because the pool is used and includes membership and guests from Valk hotel Heerlen (new hotel) it tends to be crowded and difficult to use. The Spa on the other hand is new, well designed and a breath of fresh air. Most saunas are there and users are to be textile free. The only observatie is that it felt like that all sauna units are of the same high heat,

Had a room that was noisy from bad wind causing whistling. Spoke with Dariosh at the desk who quickly changed my room without any issues. I had another request for which he assisted, again with no issue. He remembered and used my name which I find is a great customer service technique. Restaurant is very nice along with the brasserie. Pool and fitness center was a great respite. The bed was a bit too firm for me and I wasn't a fan of the pillows. The full body mirror is in the closet which makes no sense because of hanging coats and clothes. It should be on the wall next to the desk so it can be used effectively.

Mondo Verde is a 25-hectare theme park and animal park located in Park Gravenrode, Landgraaf. It features international gardens showcasing various cultures, along with attractions such as a dinosaur forest, zoo, and aviary. Visitors can enjoy family-friendly rides and explore the diverse range of animals on display. The park also offers an all-you-can-eat dining option with a variety of food and drink choices. Additionally, Mondo Verde provides a water park for summer fun.
Pancakes were nice, but would be nicer with Nutella. Slush puppies were good but they had only 1 flavour. Water slides were super fun! The gardens were interesting. Tomato soup was not edible. We will definitely visit again.

Overall, the park is enjoyable and offers a pleasant experience. The atmosphere is nice, and it’s a good place to spend time. Pros: The zoo is fantastic! There’s a wide variety of animals, and you can even interact with some of them, which makes it great for families and animal lovers. Cons: - Games: The selection of games is limited, with only a few options, so it feels a bit lacking in activities. - Food and Drinks: Unfortunately, the food could use some improvement. It lacks flavor, and the juice tastes like it’s mostly water. - The coffee was disappointing as well.

I’ve read so mixed reviews until now. My kids are 12 and 9 years old, and they loved the place. They went in all the attractions, enjoyed to the most. We could see the panther, lions, tigers and kids we amazed. As a parent I do agree with some people about how small the animal’s enclosure are and that they don’t look that lively. There’s free food and it was not hard to find - it was on the map of the park. The free food is ok and there’s also free drinks, which was really nice on a hot day! The attractions could receive more attention. There many rusts spots, in some places I was almost concerned of the quality of the material. My kids loved and want to go back there and we might go back. Ah there enough places with shade and cover for rain if needed.

I am shocked by how animals can still be treated like this in 2025. Wild animals exposed to noise, close to people and causing them A LOT of stress. Their environment is ridiculously SMALL for what’s truly in their nature. I actively disencourage people to come here. Too little people are aware of what is actually going, even behind the scenes. I didn’t see food, camels were eating some grass on the stones. Not shaved correctly, in a cruel state of health. I hope that animal welfare associations can have an impact on the continuity of this park. Some animals are even inside in such a small, cold cage. On the picture here below we dont see them, they hid. But very saddening.

Get your tickets via social deals. Lovely place to visit on summer day. Would definitely go back again. I didn't like that I couldn't find lockers anywhere / it was wasp season and there weren't any wasp traps set up, the level was a bit intense. But besides that great small theme park/zoo/gardens/ water play

Is a nice place, more for children than adults, but worth to go
Nor B — Google review
Absolutely disgusting place. Long lines for attractions. It's terribly dirty everywhere. Thousands of wasps/bees buzzing around the bins and food scraps. All you can eat is a joke!!! Animals in cramped cages near crowds of people and loud attractions. I'm surprised that places like this still exist in a civilized country and the authorities don't react. Don't go there and don't support this place. Should be closed imidiately in my opinion.
Mateusz S — Google review
Not recommended: beautiful park that is overcrowded when the weather is nice and serious food safety deficiencies. Landscape park and gardens are very beautiful, nice to watch the animals. However, many animals are kept in (too) small enclosures; out of date as far as I'm concerned. A bird in a closed part of the park has a broken beak that has been duct taped together; this should of course be solved more animal-friendly. The park is not at all designed to handle the high numbers of visitors: enormous queues that Efteling does not even have. This undercapacity also undermines the all-you-can-eat concept: waiting 45 minutes for a small bowl of (over)cooked pasta is no exception. Slush puppy machines are defective, empty, or contain syrup that is too warm or ice mass that is too frozen. Most bizarre is the staff at Villa Toscane who repeatedly (!) drops sandwiches on the floor and then without batting an eyelid puts them back on the pile of food offered. Toilets are not cleaned for hours: poop is on the walls. If you ask the staff for toilet paper, they don't understand you or they can't help you. Staff at at least two attractions do not speak Dutch, English or German and do not know what to do during a disruption. Water park 'Pirate Splash' is not open in May, even when it is 26°C (this is stated on the website if you search carefully). And please note: charging your electric car here is not an option: the available charging station is “reserved for the management of Mondo Verde”.

SnowWorld Landgraaf is a versatile facility offering indoor ski slopes, a snowboard obstacle course, and a climbing park. Additionally, visitors can enjoy various bars and eateries on-site. SnowWorld Landgraaf provides stunning views from its ski mountain and offers challenging terrains for skiing enthusiasts.
What a spot! 🤩 After 18years being off a board I came back and I loved it, this location is such a banger! Beginner, intermediate and advanced friendly. A chill cafeteria to get some fuel (snacks & drinks) And a hotel for after your board session. HOTEL: I do have to admit the hotel beds were the worst I’ve ever slept in, I’m a 181cm 93kg guy and the single beds were just as “big” as me, leaving me no room to turn around in. The breakfast on the other hand was TOP-TIER! ✨ All you can eat buffet with a huge variety of food, loved it! Definitely coming back for more shred sessions on this mountain 🏂

Our kids are doing Ski camp for the first time and I think it’s excellent. The staff is very kind and helpful, and they learn skills that are useful in the future. The price is right also, especially since lunch and snacks are included. Recommended!

Fantastic indoor skiing with real snow. Something for everyone here, a couple of smaller slopes for beginners to learn on with no pressure, and two bigger slopes accessed by a chair lift (the first one I've seen in an indoor skiing place).
John G — Google review
Great place for Snowboarding , chair lift , a little bar in the middle of the slope , a snowparc for the fearless ! Great place to wait for the season
CEDRIC B — Google review
The size of the slopes are great and the park is also nice. However, the snow condition is not acceptable, it’s too dirty to ride. I understand that making snow is costly, but the snow color is completely brown, and for some reason, there are stones rolling around even though it's an indoor facility…
Yasu S — Google review
Terrible piste condition at 10:00 in the morning and very dirty snow. Sorry to say but compared to Neuss Skihalle, which has clean snow throughout the entire season and freshly prepared piste every day, we are more than disappointed from Landgraaf conditions. The fun park slope was excellent. But one piste was in maintenance and the open one dirty, abgerockt, slow even 1 hour after morning opening. Come on you Dutch guys. You were always the best indoor activity makers. You know how to do better and how to make money with good service.
Stoneypower — Google review
We visited as a family of four. Booking a development ski lesson for the children and a learner ski lesson for one of the adults. The lessons were great - the children got to try the fun park. The beginner lesson with Christiaan was brilliant. I arrived having had two lessons on a dry ski slope and by the end of my hours lesson I was confidently using both the drag and chair lift and was capable of skiing the no.2 slope unsupervised for the rest of a day, a huge thank you to Christiaan. After the lessons we skied for the rest of the day - stoping for drinks and food in the restaurant. We don’t speak Dutch but everyone was incredibly welcome and helpful. Overall it’s a big recommend from us - for an indoor ski experience this is as good as it gets!
Emma S — Google review
SnowWorld Landgraaf in the Netherlands is the largest Snow Center in Europe. It is divided into three slopes: the main slope (Red) is 400 meters long, the second slope (Blue) is also 400 meters long, and the Fun Park, mainly used by snowboarders, is 200 meters long. All slopes are perfectly served by a very fast indoor chairlift. Of course, there is also a slope for beginners and children, as well as a fun park so there is something for everyone and the right excitement for all tastes. You can rent all the equipment, or you can easily bring your own and leave it after skiing in the dedicated lockers with keys. The Snow: I am Italian and have spent my whole life skiing in the mountains of Aosta Valley, Italy (Courmayeur, Cervinia, Monterosa Ski, Pila, La Thuile, etc.). I started skiing at a very young age, so I know snow very well, and I must say I was incredibly surprised to see the snow surface always perfectly maintained from 8 am. in the morning until 10 pm. Absolutely perfect treatment, with a constant temperature of -7°C. All the staff inside are very kind and competent, always ready to help anyone in need an excellent service. For this reason, many ski clubs and ski teams come to train at this center. This highlights the professionalism and quality of this Snow Center. Within the same large complex, you will also find an excellent restaurant, a self-service, a sports shop, a hotel, etc. all perfectly managed. Highly recommended.

De Admiraal is an exceptional eatery with a fantastic menu and a skilled chef who prepares each dish to perfection. Patrons can savor a variety of delectable small bites, allowing them to experience multiple flavors simultaneously. The cuisine here is superb and generously portioned, ensuring that even two people will be satisfied. Additionally, the establishment offers complimentary Gulpener beer while customers wait, adding to the overall pleasant experience.
I have been there for the third time now and the food was always splendid. The service is great, they warmly welcome you and give you a feeling of homecoming. My favourite dish is the salmon fillet, which I usually accompany by the soup of the day and the recommended dessert. They have a small, but highly rewarded variety of beers. Tried many restaurants in the area and finally arrived. Give it a go rather soon than later.

Day 3

Proximity is everything
For day 3, we bundled attractions like Parkstad Limburg Stadion and Monkey Town Heerlen and other places within a close range, so that the time it takes to travel between all of them is less than one hour. Combined with the average time people spend there, your day should take about 7 hours.

Parkstad Limburg Stadion is located in Kerkrade, a town with unique attractions and close proximity to the beautiful countryside of Parkstad Limburg. The area offers various sights such as Rolduc Abbey, a botanical garden, Discovery Museum, and the historical Nulland shaft. Additionally, the station is part of plans for easier travel and greater employment opportunities in this former mining neighborhood. The stadium itself provides an intimate setting for watching games with good visibility from any seat.
Never been there but since Google always insists I go there everytime I go next door I thought I'd humour it.
Demo B — Google review
The stadium is not big so you can see games well anywhere you sit. People tend not to sit and stand up while watching. Seats are all stepped and dirty so bring wipes if you'd like to sit. Also people smoke during the game. Parking situations can be crazy as they are shared with other businesses around so get there early.

Playground
Monkey Town Heerlen is an indoor playground that offers a delightful softplay area for toddlers, complete with its own slide. The establishment also features trampolines that provide endless jumping opportunities for children. While the slides may be better suited for older kids due to their steepness, the venue offers ample free parking spaces outside. Additionally, there is a cafeteria available where visitors can enjoy refreshments and food as needed.
After a short call with service hotline we got the information that it is opened on new year. So we decided to go there. Arriving at 11 am there were not much people inside, so that we found perfect. Entry price is complete ok. The playground is perfect and our children were complete done after 3 hours. The bad comments from the past (1 year ago) about the little Restaurant i can not confirm. The fries and the rest were ok. For the meals you get a receiver which tells you the meal is ready.
Chris G — Google review
It could be more bright in the play area. In the entrance area is a big crocodile which can scare some kids. However, it was very clean and the area for kids less than three years is pretty big .
Ralf H — Google review
After the weather was really bad during our vacation the indoor playground was a great alternative. We visited Monkey Towns in other cities before and always were satisfied, so we picked the one in Heerlen, since it wasn't too far from our Chalet. The staff was super friendly and helpful, we paid the entrance fee and bought socks for my daughter and then off she went. It was a little smaller than the ones we knew, but still had a bit of everything for the kids to burn energy and have fun. The trampoline seemed to be everybody's favorite, they have 2 - so there was a little waiting line at times. We had a little snack there, I had apple pie and a toffee cappuccino ( one of the best coffees ever, it was delicious), my daughter had fries and kipcorn and also really enjoyed both. One star less, because the ladies restrooms smelled not so great (maybe someone had thrown away diapers), we avoided using them. Everything else seemed very in order and clean.
Chri S — Google review
Very nice softplay with toddler section with its own slide. Trampolines for the kids to jump on. Slides are a bit steep so definately for older kids. Free car park outside and plenty of spaces. Cafteria so option to get some drinks and food when needed.

Annie B — Google review
The kids had a pretty good time, but in my opinion, there are better places to take them. We were at Monkey Town for a birthday party and were told by the host that they were charged for the adults to enter, which is ridiculous considering all the adults do is make sure their kids are safe and spend money on stuff that isn't included in the entrance fee. All I know is that I won't be having my childrens' birthday parties here, though I may bring my kids again if they really want to go.

Poppodium Nieuwe Nor in Heerlen has been a go-to venue since 2015, offering a diverse range of music genres including drum n bass, techno, dance, rock, punk, indie, hiphop and oldies. Located in the city center with a newly-built addition in 2020 housing an entrance hall and larger venue room. It serves as the cultural heart of Heerlen with a full schedule of concerts and events throughout the year.
Absolutely one of the best venues around. Great staff, stellar techs. Top notch gear. Highly recommended for any one travelling through to check it out.

Unfortunately the people at this venue say that they'll do something, and then they'll do the complete opposite. Because of their lack of communication and straight up incompetence, the people at this venue have cost me about 150-200 euros. And then they'll even try to say that they even did you a favor. Do not deal with these people. They lie, do not communicate and don't manage the things that need attention. Extremely bad experience. 0/10. Strongly recommend against going there, or working with them.

Terrible venue staff, avoid at all costs. Also the security are completely incompetent and will take your medicine, say they will give it back later and then hand it over to police. And then they will get mad at you if you complain about it. Terrible service and treatment even if you are in the organisation of an event. AVOID

GREAT venue, very cozy, super friendly staff, they do have a lift (or rather steep stairs ;) ), the ladies´ room is on the first floor, the gents´have to go to the second floor. History Museums
The Thermenmuseum is a fascinating gallery that showcases the excavated remains of an ancient Roman bath complex, providing insight into life in the region during Roman times. The museum is located in Heerlen, which was once a settlement named Coriovallum hosting a bathhouse. The town experienced significant growth during the Middle Ages due to coal mining and is now part of the larger project city called Parkstad Limburg.
One of the best museum experiences I've ever had. They give you an audio tour(available in English, German, and Dutch, maybe other languages too) which you use to scan tags that are scattered around the building. When you do that, a lot of the exhibits come alive via 3D mapping and other cool tech. The Roman bath itself has a bridge going over it and as you go through, the audio guide highlights different areas of the bathhouse, with the projector showing you how they would have looked in real time. It's a super cool and modern experience that every other museum should strive to have. I would give it more stars if I could. The staff was super friendly as well, very recommended.
Nikola — Google review
Nice and small museum, a very good impression of what was Heerlen during the Roman Times. The presentation of 12 minutes is really well done, worth to see it. And the soap bars they sell smell just delicious!
Amilia B — Google review
The museum was a lot of fun and interesting. The personal was very friendly. They had a movie to start off the tour. But the English version was a little difficult to understand. The voice over was done by Dutch people speaking English, but the accent was very thick and sometimes difficult to understand. But overall very interesting and very friendly personal
Stijn B — Google review
If you like Roman history, as I do, this is a place you need to visit. You need to see it in perspective of Roman remains in The Netherlands. There are not so many “complete” remains like in other countries. The museum is well made and gives a good overview of this large-scale bathhouse.

Restaurant
El Greco is a highly comfortable establishment with exceptional staff. The cuisine is satisfactory, although it lacked sufficient seasoning. Fortunately, they provided salt on the table for patrons to add as needed. The tomato soup was unsatisfactory due to its thin consistency and lack of flavor; however, the steak was remarkable. Despite ordering a well-done steak and receiving an unexpectedly thick cut, it was cooked perfectly. The prices are average and reasonable.
Great place to eat greek food for a reasonable price. You get excellent service, (usually) not too busy if you reserve for early hours (around about 17.30). I paid 75 EUR for two, ranging from appetizers to desserts. Definitely recommend! (picture includes Gyros, Ribeye, and Chicken fillet.)

It is a very cozy place with very good staff. The food is ok, but in my opinion it missed salt, but at least they had it on the table so you could take it. The tomato soup wasn't good, it was too thin and missing taste, but the steak was awesome. I ordered a well done steak and they brought me a very thick one and they surprised me that they managed to make it well done. The prices are in the average, so it is ok.

Food is absolutely delicious! They have a salad bar which you can choose and get from however much you like and the waiters are very attentive and kind. Perfect for big families to eat and enjoy time together.

One the best experiences dining experiences in my life! I would literally give them 7 stars, if it was possible. Immediately on arrival, we received complementary drinks (ouzo). Then we had an awesome dinner. Food was super delicious and we had a buffet of salad nearby. The price was fair and the staff were nice and polite. Definitely have plan of coming back.

Sushi restaurant
The dining experience at Sushi Vandaag Heerlen was enjoyable, and the cuisine was delicious and appeared to be made with fresh ingredients. However, the cocktails were small in size considering their cost, so it might be better to seek out more substantial options elsewhere. This restaurant is a pleasant choice for both families and friends to visit together. Additionally, if you are seeking a more intimate atmosphere for a romantic date, this establishment can create the desired ambiance.
The waitresses and staff were so friendly and cleaned our table often and made sure we were Happy. Thank you for wonderful service.

the waitress said that the minimum order is 62 euros. we didn't like that, but we put up with it. we didn't really like the atmosphere inside, so we decided to leave and asked to pack sushi to go and give us the bill. we were told to wait a couple of minutes and no one came, so I was constantly forced to go to the cashier and ask for the bill. we were told to pay an extra 10 euros for sushi to go, and they didn't even put chopsticks, sauce and wasabi in the package. i went to the cashier several times to finally leave this place.

I have been dining at this restaurant for almost ten years, but my most recent experience was extremely disappointing. When I tried to get some fruit for my two-year-old child, the owner rudely stopped me and said that fruits are only allowed after the final round of food. That was already unpleasant enough, but what happened next was even worse. Among the three of us, only one person didn’t order a drink in the first round, and yet the owner chose to humiliate us, accusing us of doing it on purpose. This is absurd and insulting. If there was any rule that every guest must order a drink, it should have been clearly mentioned before we ordered. We have been loyal customers for almost ten years, always ordering drinks and even multiple rounds of wine before. I can’t accept being personally attacked and disrespected like this. Such behavior from the owner is completely unacceptable and shameful.

Sushi was quite tasty and good. In restorant atmosphere is good, but toilets was really dirty. Price +- middle range.

Very unfriendly restaurant manager aggressive and greedy, made my family "wife ,one year old daughter and my self in the first few seconds uncomfortable that we decided to leave right away , wants to force drinks and want us to eat in the pattern he wants so we could buy more drinks , forgetting that we are already going to pay for the dining it self , telling us story of that they are not making enough money but from buying drinks , which non of my bussiness, I'm going to A restaurant to enjoy not to participate in a social goodness , almost made us feel that we are going to eat for free ? ! Like doing us a favor ! very rude manager or owner telling us what to eat and not to eat and what to start with and what not to ! Unbelievable manners, cheap unprofessional service never ever seen anything like that in my life ..........

Maitre'D is great, been there for years. Some of the new staff is so so, food over all good, sorry to see that some items have left the menu. Menu is definitely shrunk over the years. Overall, value for money if you are a strong eater.
GioDante — Google review
I read those comments and couldn't understand what those negative reviews expect. You pay for €24 or €26 for all you can eat which is so reasonable or shouldn't say CHEAP. Expecting quality and fresh food or fine dining service with that price in Nederland ???? Ridiculous If someone want better quality of sushi please do not come to all you can eat restaurant. You should have known all you can eat offers you quantity not quality so food would be at average. Do not expect 5 stars service for the price you pay and you get food serve at the table what else to ask for? Most of all you can eat restaurans doing with self-service which you take food and drink yourself and they just clean the plates. Therefore please know what you pay for and do not expect too much. Be happy that at least you have the service with that price I find this restaurant is value of money.

Takeout Restaurant
Enzo is a delightful Italian takeout restaurant that offers an outstanding selection of thin, perfectly cooked pizzas made with high-quality Italian ingredients. The owners are exceptionally welcoming and provide helpful advice to enhance your dining experience. Despite primarily being a takeout establishment, Enzo offers three tables if you prefer to dine in. They also boast an impressive collection of Italian wines that are not commonly found in supermarkets, all at reasonable prices.
We went there before our show in Heerlen—friendly staff, fair prices, and delicious Italian pizza! 👌🏻

Came here for the 1st time a few days ago. Very fairly priced and tasty pizzas, which i imagine trounce the overpriced pizzas offered by most of the take aways in Heerlen. We had the Dolce, truffle and Enzo pizzas with 2 tiramisu for desert. All amazing. Best pizzas in Heerlen.

Contender for best pizza across all of Zuid-Limburg and likely beyond. Traditional, extremely well-balanced pizza. Take-out only, I suggest only sitting there if you're going for a quick bite. Staff is helpful, flexible and all-round friendly. Guaranteed good experience.

The pizza has a great taste. Everything was perfect. I ordered by phone. Until i arrived the pizza was ready, waiting for me ! Exactly 24 minutes from the moment that i ordered until i was picked-up my pizza. So the taste of pizza is like in Italy. Defently when will want a pizza i will chose ENZO ! GRAZIE MILLE !

Day 4

Keep it simple
For day 4, these 3 places should be enough to fill your day with something exciting to do in Heerlen. Start the day with Hoensbroek Castle and make your way through the city to get to Cultuurhuis Heerlen. This should take about 7 hours of your day.

History museum
Hoensbroek Castle, located in the city district of Hoensbroek, is a medieval castle complex and one of the largest in the Netherlands. Dating back to 1380, it is a national monument with over forty castle rooms and serves as a museum. Visitors can enjoy guided or self-guided tours featuring historic decorative arts and furniture. The interactive tour 'Encrypted Stories' offers an engaging experience for both adults and children.
I was staying nearby in Heerlen and had the Museumkaart so I decided to visit Hoensbroek Castle on a weekday. I didn't expect much, but it was actually very beautiful and the museum display was modern and well thought out. It's definitely worth getting the €2 guidebook (especially if you only speak English) as it explains the route and every room. There are some signs and explanations, but mostly in Dutch and you can easily miss out on the prison and secret room if you don't have the guidebook. They also have some nice modern displays with projections and explanations also available in English. I thought it was very cute that these were triggered by pressing a key shaped sensor to a lock. Some rooms also had an older audio guide triggered by buttons on the wall. The castle also seemed very kid-friendly, they had stamps to be collected, games and interactive displays. There are however lots of stairs and you can go up to the rafters of the donjon, but if you have difficulties with stairs I'm not sure you would enjoy it. The castle also has a cafe and quite a few lovely birds. Definitely recommend visiting it if you're in the area and love castles!

Great for kids. Lots of engaging games to keep them entertained. Grounds can be visited freely at leisure. There is a short film in Dutch included in the entrance fee, but plenty to see otherwise.
Maurits K — Google review
We visited Hoensbroek Castle with our 3 kids (4, 6, 11). Outside they had a festival, so the children played around with medieval-style games — even tried out bow and arrow. That part was fun. Afterwards we went inside the castle museum. It was all okay, but honestly, I’ve seen much better and more interesting castles. The youngest boy got a bit scared at times, because you have to go down into cellars and through dark stairs and passages. Overall fine for a visit.
Serkan Z — Google review
Nice and interactive castle museum, oriented towards kids (stamp card, interactive games, old games area, kinderfeestjes options). Museumkaart accepted. Free parking on site. Restaurant Domestique with small, but surprisingly well cooked menu. Briefly well worth stopping by
Kamelia S — Google review
We spend a lovely afternoon at Kasteel Hoensbroek, which was just perfect for families with kids. We were free to roam the castle (steep and narrow staircases, make sure to wear the right shoes!) and our kid was given a special key that would activate holograms of people living or working in the castle, depending which area you'd get to. Although I am sure a guided tour will be even more fun, this was just perfect for kids with short attention spans. They had loads of activities, inside and outside the castle, and the treasure map was an absolute bonus. What a great job they did with this castle, well done and well worth the price!
Dennis F — Google review
Really nice experience. The 3 different eras and styles are very unique. The route through the castle can be a little confusing for moments. A lovely visit if you are in the area.

I visited the Sterrenwacht Limburg observatory while on vacation and had a captivating experience. I gained valuable knowledge about the solar system during an engaging evening. Unfortunately, the night was cloudy, but I was informed that I could return for free on a clear night to observe the sky. I highly recommend this place for anyone interested in astronomy or looking for advice on telescopes. The observatory offers opportunities to look through their telescope and is open almost every Friday.
I liked the place and the atmosphere. Enthousiastic people with passion and a lot of knowledge about cosmos. They do what they can on a volunteering basis and with the equipment they can afford.
Ksenia S — Google review
Lets start with the good. It was nice inside to walk around and see some information that is presented on the walls. In the presentation they made use of a program on Steam, that looked cool and seems to be a good tool. Now the bad side. We could not see the stars, which is very weird and disappointing. It was to light outside for it, which I can get but at least put a warning on the website at what times in the year you can view them and when not. Part of it could be that the big telescope they have is in disrepair (or/and part of the structure that opens the dome is not working correct) and with that one you would be able to see it, but we had a smaller one set up outside. Like mentioned in the positive, there was a presentation that was given that took quite some time. The tool that was used was cool, but the presentation didn't have any structure, so it was difficult to follow. I know the people that work there are volunteering, but the presenter could not stand still for a second and could not create a coherent story after the first 3 minutes. He had a weird way of answering questions in the room (of mostly children), not helping the fact that he was bad of hearing, that had in my mind a negative impact on the mood in the room. Overall, skip it for at least some time or make a call to them before you go to ask at what time or if it is even possible to see the stars that night.
Mathijs W — Google review
Went by this observatory when on holiday. We had a very interesting evening where we learned a lot about the solar system. Unfortunately it was cloudy that night but we were told that we can come back for free on a clear night to see the sky. I highly recommend it!

Following a leisurely stroll through the parkland, Restaurant Schrieversheide emerges as an appealing destination. This charming establishment offers a delightful ambiance to unwind and indulge in culinary pleasures. Located amidst picturesque surroundings, it presents a lovely setting after exploring the nearby natural beauty. With its inviting atmosphere and delectable cuisine, Restaurant Schrieversheide proves to be an excellent choice for those seeking post-parkland dining experiences.
The coffee and hot chocolate are delicious, and the free cookie is a nice gesture, though not particularly enjoyable—it’s actually quite bad. However, I won’t deduct a star for a free treat. The prices are reasonable by Dutch standards, comparable to most places in Maastricht and the surrounding area. The terrace offers a lovely view, adding to the overall experience.

A lovely self service pancake restaurant with a large terrace with a great view over the heather and nature. But definitely take some poffertjes on the side or pancakes for lunch with the and assorted coffee and pies definitely will keep me going back to walk the nature trails or wade in the water with this as a base to start from. Perhaps for a restaurant closed somewhat soon, but recommend for lunch and drinks.

I politely asked if I could use the restroom and offered to pay a hefty fee. I was rudely dismissed. People can be pregnant or have health problems and need to use the restroom; a little compassion or politeness would be human. I see in other reviews that this isn't the first time this has happened, and people with small children have also been refused service. (Original) Onaardig personeel. Mensen kunnen zwanger zijn of gezondheidsproblemen hebben en daardoor naar de wc moeten, een beetje compassie of beleefdheid zou menselijk zijn. Pizzeria Ristorante Salvatore offers an exceptional, freshly-made pizza cooked in a fiery oven that evokes the flavors of New York City's Little Italy. Since its establishment in 1983-4, the restaurant has consistently delivered delicious and affordable food. The staff is known for their friendly and welcoming demeanor. Although parking can be challenging due to the narrow street, it is well worth the inconvenience. The interior is impressive, customer service is outstanding, and the food quality is exceptional.
Salvatore's makes a phenomenal fresh, fire ovened pizza. The taste reminds me of NYC - little Italy. Back in 1983-4 I would enjoy their food and going back now - it is still delicious and affordable. The staff is friendly and welcoming. I hope it isn't that long before I enjoy their pizza again.

This is a bowling alley with an authentic ambience. You can tell in the entrance area that it's getting a bit long in the tooth, but I can't fault the catering area. The staff are nice and courteous. Our wishes were always catered for and we had quite a few. Not everyone speaks German, but as a German I can't speak Dutch either. If you want to spend some quality time, you're in very good hands there.

First of all: If you don't understand English, be honest and say you don't so that people can try speaking to you in German. The person at the counter has one job, which is to book reservations when someone calls. After calling '2 times' to confirm the reservation for 7pm to 9pm, the person at the counter still booked our reservation for 5pm (17:00 hours). And after going there he argues (quite rudely) that we said 17:00 and we just called once. I think there is a big difference when someone says 17:00 hours and 7PM. Tip for the owner: Not anything against old people but you need young people at the counter because maybe you have lot of rush and the person couldn't handle the pressure.

They provided good deals through Groupon. Unfortunately it was very busy when I went which meant that the shoes and bowling balls that fit me were gone. This led me to have some ankle pain and sore thumbs afterward. The food and drinks that we had were good, prices are pushing the high side of average I suppose. Overall I would go there again but I would pick a day where it is less busy.

Nederlands Mijnmuseum is a fascinating museum that offers insight into the mining industry of the Netherlands. Housed in an old mining building, it features historical artifacts and provides guided tours by former coal miners, offering a personal and immersive experience. The museum showcases the history of mining in the region and its impact on the community, providing a glimpse into the lives of Mijn families and how Heerlen evolved over time.
Highly recommend! The museum tell a great story about mining, the society around the industry and the transformation to present time.

Interesting to see the history of this suddenly booming area. Designed well also. However, they deserve some critism for the (lack of) English language support. All the texts are either Dutch of German. Randomly, there is some English audio. Will cause lots of visitors to miss information.
Simon B — Google review
A fine, volunteer-run, museum with many artifacts from the Dutch/Limburg coal mining industry.
W R — Google review
Very interesting museum as is the ON monument. Obviously main text explanations are in Dutch but other languages available by headphone at each exhibit, all worked fine with explanation nice and clear. If you are interested in mining or the history of it in this region would highly recommend.
David H — Google review
Decent mini museum telling stories about the mining community living in the 1950s in Limburg. Entry price was 11 euro. 4 floors present, 1st,2nd and 3rd floor are telling about how it developed, how the community was, and how it changed lives after ending of this mining era. As an engineer it didn't catch my attention that much, as it is a common story. If u have around 2 hours to spare, you may check this museum out. Please note: there is NO ENGLISH but Dutch and German only. Audio support is insufficient and very minimal.

Wonderful historic museum, not only for children but also for adults. with various multi-medien, it is almost real experience 2000 years ago. Also the personel is friendly and kind, always help visitors initially.

The museum imo is focused on the people oh Heerlen and provides a wonderful impression of life as a ‘Mijn’ family. Also how it changed Heerlen overtime good times and bad times. It is in de center of the city walking distance to restaurants and coffee places. Time to spend in museum 1,5 hours.

Nestled just a short drive from Aachen, the Golf & Country Club Hoenshuis is a stunning parkland course that offers both beauty and challenge. With its 18 holes set amidst majestic old trees, players are treated to picturesque fairways that demand precision due to their undulating nature and fast greens. This renowned course has hosted PGA tournaments, making it a must-visit for golf enthusiasts seeking an exhilarating experience.
Phenomenal course, great conditions, quite a few blind landing zones off the tee box for the aggressive players. Played several courses in the Limburg and NRW around this area and this by far is the best course I have played in the last 3 years of my tour. The golf pro was very kind and helpful and Babette at the reception was very kind and welcoming. I will be playing here again such a great experience especially compared to many of the other courses around this region of the NL and DE.

(Translated by Google) Beautiful but challenging parkland course. The 18 holes of the Golf & Country Club Hoenshuis are just a few minutes' drive from Aachen and are well located in terms of transport. Varied fairways in the middle of old trees make the course scenically attractive. However, heavily undulating fairways and fast greens require precise playing style. Without knowledge of the course, a good score is hardly possible. ,

(Translated by Google) Had a nice breakfast here via smartmarket. Note: in the Hoenshuis the price is the same as with the offer! So you don't need smartmarket then. Good breakfast. Looked at the lunch/evening menu; very limited and nothing tasty for vegetarians. At such a location really expected a bit more on the menu. So no reason to go there for lunch/dinner. Beautiful setting and well-kept and fresh breakfast, strange that 1 coffee/tea is not included with breakfast. (Original) Lekker ontbeten hier via smartmarket.

(Translated by Google) G&CC Hoenshuis is a nice golf course with the necessary challenges. With the necessary challenges I do not only mean in terms of golfing but if you come here for the first time it is also a challenge to see how the course runs. There is no indication anywhere of how the course runs, dogleg to the left or right, where is a bunker or where is there water? Not on your scorecard and not at the tee box either!!! At the entrance of the clubhouse behind the gate at the entrance there is a small sign with the layout of the course. However, the course is nice and challenging with some nice views. Is it worth recommending? Yes, I think it is definitely worth coming here to play a round of golf. After a round of golf it is nice to relax on the small but very cozy terrace and the service is also extremely friendly and helpful. My recommendation to the club is to at least print an overview of the course on the scorecard so that guest players know where to go!

Quality must be ensured. the same for the first and last customer. Hard rolls not fresh and soft omelet old and hard probably heated in microwave. I also raised it and got it again. Had to pay for 1 capucino, perhaps it could have been free as a saving grace. Hopefully it will be better in the future. All in all, a failing grade for me. We were warmly welcomed by Gerard. The menu is extensive and surprising for a brasserie, it is more than the standard healthy sandwich and the plate of chicken satay with fries as in many other brasseries. We chose the smoked salmon/tuna salad and a beef teriyaki sandwich. The salad for my wife was deliciously fresh and generous in quantity, the teriyaki sandwich for me was provided with tender meat and fresh vegetables, highly recommended. The chef, I believe his name is Richard but my wife thinks it is Marco, came to have a chat. He comes across as very knowledgeable and is a very good new addition to this brasserie. Restaurant Smaak&Vermaak in Heerlen is an outstanding dining establishment that prioritizes inclusivity and respect for all patrons. The highly skilled and competent staff members offer impeccable service, ensuring a delightful experience for every customer. The cuisine is both delectable and thoughtfully presented, with a focus on dishes prepared using a Josper grill. The flavors are exceptional, leaving diners thoroughly impressed with the quality of the food.
We went with the group and we had a great surprise menu. The portions seemed to be small in the beggining, but it was the perfect amount of food. I would highly recommend if you are in the mood for a sophisticated cuisine.

First time visiting this location, usually my go to is in de Cramer. Service was poor, no greetings or goodbye not even a simple “enjoy your meal” Service was also very slow.. two employees in the store with one sat on her phone. Resturant itself looks very dated, untidy with food packaging and empty drink bottles left on the tables from previous guest and a big puddle of water from the rain. I took my order to go, having to ask for a napkin and bag. Sub was wrapped loosely and the box of sides wasn’t constructed correctly so everything got soggy. Got my regular order but it didn’t taste as good as when I order from my regular subway. There were also olives and other veg I didn’t order inside the sandwich which threw me off a little. I hate olives ha. Overall not q great experience, maybe some better staff training and cleaning/maintenance will help. I visited between 2/3pm on a rainy Monday afternoon so I can’t imagine visiting during dinner/lunch periods or the weekend. I tried it once but unfortunately won’t be returning and will stick to my regular location even if I have to cycle a little further.

I have visited Bras-Restaurant Hoeve de Geleenhof three times with different friends, and each time has provided a unique experience. While the fish tasted unpleasantly fishy during my last visit, this time it was exceptional. However, the wait for the food exceeded 40 minutes, and there seemed to be a shortage of potatoes as I received only a small piece. The presentation of dishes may be more for show than actual consumption.
Very cozy and pleasant restaurant, friendly staff. Highly recommended 👍🏻👍🏻

I've been here 3 times with friends and I have a different experience each time. The last time the fish was horrible as it tasted very fishy and this time the fish was outstanding but it took over 40 minutes to get the food. Also they must have started running out of the potato because we had a very small piece this time. Is it for show or to eat. My friend had schnitzel and was still hungry afterwards. They brought a small cup of fries for two people.

Van der Valk Hotel Kasteel Terworm is a majestic hotel situated in a 14th-century castle. The castle itself is an impressive example of medieval architecture, located on the outskirts of Heerlen amidst the picturesque Terworm estate. Lovely location for a holiday in the south of Limburg. Good service, nice food (we only had the breakfast) and super environment. We had a perfect time and will for sure come back!

We stayed at this castle converted to hotel for 3 days / 2 nights in celebration of our wedding anniversary. We got a warm welcome with an handwritten congrats note. The service from check in to check out is professional & courteous handled. We had one night dinner in their fine dining room which is an absolute gourmet experience and on the second night we chilled at their terrace garden. Just wonderful. The room is bright located on the 2nd floor with all the aminities expected. Good size bathroom and excellent bedding. We loved the breakfast set up and service. A few housekeeping notes to highlight; we do not understand why it is not allowed to take the bathrobes to the hotel spa & pool and the AC in the room did not work well.

Character, friendly staff and a very decent restaurant on hand (we literally went there in our slippers, which was godsend after spending the whole day hiking). Excellent value for money. The person who designed the rooms clearly spent some time him/herself in other quality hotels - there was nothing annoying or missing. The hotel restaurant has a tasting menu (there is also a'la carte), which offers interesting taste combinations and decent wines to go with it. They don't have a michelin star (as of 2024 when we visited) but you get a similar experience with a whole lot less fuss and fake celebra. Locals, couples, families eat there and if you want to dine there, its probably a good idea to book in advance. The person at the reception was very friendly and we felt very well taken care of. We stayed in the tower suite, and it was nice, spacious and well appointed (drinks, fruits, nuts, etc.).

I made a dinner reservation online at the hotel. I was waiting for confirmation before i book a hotel room and after a while i called for the confirmation. The reservation was made and i even got the confirmation mail afterwards. So i also booked the room to stay the night. When we were checking in, the reception said i don’t have any reservations for dinner, i showed them the confirmation mail and they were obviously confused. They said that its cancelled and they don’t know that if we or them has cancelled it. They said that they will call to check it and after that told us its cancelled and they can not arrange a table for us because they are fully booked. (!) They said they can arrange a table for us at another hotel restaurant but i wanted to have dinner at the castle and thats why i also booked a room. I would book the other hotel if i wanted to have a dinner there. There was no problem with the room and the nature was nice but i recommend you to double or even triple check your dinner reservations!

Beautiful hotel with very comfortable rooms, and excellent service. I really enjoyed our business stay at Hotel Kasteel Terworm and have no complaints about the hotel, rooms, and staff. I do wish that they had an evening bar menu, and the reason being we were on business and looking for a simple dinner meal. Going into the restaurant we were surprised that the menu was more tailored to the experience rather than the business traveler. I did like what the menu offered, but wasn’t interested in a 100€ dinner. However, the hotel did offer us a beef or fish option in the bar after we inquired about other options. I enjoyed my fish dinner with salad and fries for 32€. I also enjoyed the breakfast here and would be happy to include breakfast with my room options. The restaurant is really very nice with a warm atmosphere. I definitely would consider staying here again, but would probably dine on my way to the hotel after completing my business for the day.

There will probably be lots of positive reviews about Terworm castle Van der Valk. Yes the garden, ambience and bed were nice. There are many positive things about the hotel but there are also many things that they need to improve upon to actually deserve 4* because right now they are a 3* hotel at best. Things that really need to be addressed.. 1. No airconditioning in the hotel room. 2. Housekeeping should really get rid of the cobwebs and hairs from previous guests. 3. Quality of the toiletpaper is mediocre. 4. The chairs date back from when the castle was built cause there was no more cushion left. 5. Breakfast was a disappointment. The darkly lit breakfast spread was mediocre. Very limited choice in items. When they offered orange juice you get less than half a glass poured by a host. If you order a portion of salmon, you get one small bit. 6. No slippers, robe or towel to dry your hands with and when requested I had to bring it to my room myself. Now I'm not snobbish but 4* I think in the hospitality trade means those will be delivered to your room as a service if not already provided so guests need not even ask... 7. Worst thing of all the non existing sound proofing of the rooms. I get it's a unique location within a beautiful historic building but please invest in better soundproofing. You hear EVERYTHING, neighbors next door, upstairs, coughing, flushing the toilet, walking around. To the people in the room above me, you flushed the toilet 8 times during the night. No offence to you guys but it does say something about the lack of privacy you have in the rooms. 8. On the website they advertise with a swimming pool. Don't believe them! The pool is at the Van der Valk Heerlen, down the road but walking takes at least 20 minutes and if you leave the parking lot to drive there, chances are you have no more parking space by the time you get back. To summarize, not the Van der Valk service and facilities and experience we expected unfortunately. If a member of Van der Valk would like to contact me to discuss recommendations I am at your service to offer ideas to improve guest experience and live up to the 4 stars in the future. I think you will loose customers if you do not invest in making necessary improvements.
