We stopped here for a lunch break on a coach journey to Scotland. Lots of space in the car park, and excellent toilet facilities. Enjoyed browsing around the shop, which offered a wide range of ladies and men's clothing, outdoor wear, shoes, homewares and gifts. Some beautiful ladies knitwear! Prices were reasonable, and there was a clearance sale with some great bargains. There's a whisky shop that sells not only whisky but also mead, wines made from various fruits, and cider, and a Scottish shop where you can find anything from tartan kilts, scarves and throws to preserves and other nice foodie gifts. Bought some Scottish confectionery, and the lady who served me was really helpful and friendly. There's also an interesting little exhibition about the mill's history and heritage, with weaving looms and a spinning wheel on display. The café had a good selection of sandwiches, children's lunch packs, breakfasts, cakes and drinks, but the queue was long and slow moving, which I found frustrating when we had only limited time here. There were clearly not enough staff to cope with the large number of visitors. Couldn't fault my ham sandwich however; it was freshly made, generously filled and good value at £3.95. Worth a stop here if you're travelling up to Scotland.

It's absolutely massive, loads of stock, one of the largest selections of shortbread I've seen, and everything is at a competitive price (not motorway service prices). Toilets at the back of the store were quite good quality, plentiful. The general feel of the store was a bit dated, but I don't mind it.

Large car park in front of shop dedicated to coaches. Smaller car park to the right hand side. Shop is full of products including clothes, food gifts and souvenirs at competitive prices. There is a cafe/restaurant on site. The shop is dog friendly but were told the cafe is not. Shame as we would have liked to have stayed longer. Staff are friendly and helpful and loved talking to our dog. Have been visiting here for lots of years when taking our holidays to Scotland and always find some great gifts to take home.

Good place to get Scottish souvenirs, clothes and food. Friendly staff, big assortments of everything. When we traveling to Scotland I always buy whisky here

Most staff were kind and helpful, a few were a bit abrupt. Grandparents loved it here! Got some really cute bottles of "the world's smallest whiskey". Food was okay, greasy spoon style which was needed at the time!

Typical Scottish tourist trap catering for bus tours and other visitors.. Wide range of clothing and typical touristy rubbish. Although selling high end clothes it is quite run down. The restaurant is busy but I can't say anything about the quality of the experience as I didn't use it. Ok if you like highland cow stuffies and tartan.

Been here many times for either lunch, coffee or tea and shopping. Can always find a bargain depending on what you are looking for. Staff are always pleasant, kind and willing to help. Always recommend a visit.

Great for children as there is a lovely park. Perfect for walking dogs on a lead. Cafe looks good, didn't try anything from it. Free parking across the road.

This is a lovely park and it is so well attended too. There are some lovely big trees and then there is a nice boating pond. There is the reminder that once a train would have pulled in here as part of the old line remains. There is a play park for children and also pitch and putt in better weather. This park is an excellent facility for all ages.

This is a little gem for young and old. The play park is modern and interesting for kids with a well used water fountain. A pleasant well maintained walk is provided around the lake with plenty of seating for you to stop and chill out watching the ducks. The only downer is the removal of the little pedaloes which may be because of the low water level.

Family friendly. A great little park. Really well maintained. Nice well sized boating pond. Lots of lovely wildlife even managed to see a few fish swimming around. The children’s play area has some really unusual features incorporating water. Lots of children playing and having great fun! There is a pretty putting green. Clubs and balls can be hired for a small fee and come with a scoring sheet and pencil. It was great fun even if I did lose! If you’re looking for somewhere to take the family or sit peacefully on your own to watch the world go by this is the place!

Beautiful kept grounds great to walk around the large pond and plenty trees to shade you from the sun or rain. Dog friendly and plenty of bins.

Lovely little park with nice play area for young children. Unfortunately the boats were not available and the pond was nearly empty of water. Toilets open in park and next to town hall which is great for such a small location.

We booked The Coachman Bar for our rehearsal dinner since we were getting married in the area and it was such a great experience! They created a Sunday Roast for all of us and they set up the backroom for all 20 of us. They even surprised us with adorable decorations and balloons! The food was great, great atmosphere, and the staff and owners are amazing!!

Only popped in for a drink. Nice staff, very friendly and the pint of Carling excellent. Good atmosphere as it was Halloween the staff had gone out their way to decorate the pub. Would visit again.

Fantastic pub! 4 of us staying in Moffat for a family wedding. We were late going into pub as trying to find somewhere to eat. The kitchen had closed but the amazing staff opened the kitchen, we had a fantastic beef stew, Chloe and the rest of the team couldn’t do enough for us. Met Heather the landlady the following day, what a lovely lady and big big thanks to the girl (I’m so sorry I can’t remember your name 😢) who helped pin my dress after the zip breaking on the way to the wedding! Lovely warm welcoming atmosphere, brilliant staff and stew to die for!!! Thank you ladies!!!

Stopped here en route home. Wish we hadn't. Atmosphere felt very cliquey. Unsurprisingly, there was plenty of empty tables to sit at. The apparent fish and chips was absolutely rancid. Chips partially cooked from frozen and looked as though it was bought in a ready meal box from a low end supermarket. The "fish" was slush in breadcrumbs and immediately despatched to the nearest napkin. Staff were quick enough to take the plates away - must like the place empty. (Probably for the best). When told the food was unpleasant, the chap said, "I'll let the kitchen know". Spun on his heel without another word said. Clearly nothing new or rectified, we're not the first to complain as I delve deeper into these reviews. If you want to avoid disappointment and get your moneys worth, definitely go elsewhere.

Talked to the very friendly landlady and asked about haggis pops, and even though they didn't do food that day, she went away and did us a free sample. Probably the best pub in Moffat. Will be going back for a proper meal.

Just had an excellent experience eating at Brodies. A friendly welcome with cocktails in their lounge area - and an extensive range of gins to choose from (with a few other cocktail options for those less keen on gins). Then a very good meal - a limited menu (which in my book is a good sign) with friendly, efficient service and a very relaxed atmosphere. If your looking for a quick meal to then move on, Brodies may not be for you. But for a really good, relaxed meal with great service it's one to look out. For us it was a Sunday evening and other local options were limited, so booking is advised. If/when we're in Moffat again, Brodies will certainly be somewhere to return to.

Couldn’t recommend more! The decor and the impecable service created an instant sense of comfort. As a walk in we let them know we were vegan and they provided a fully plant based menu, thank you so much for the beautiful evening can’t wait to return!

A lovely cafe with good tea and food in the heart of Moffat. We came by for lunch on-route to Penrith and the relaxed stylish vibe fitted perfectly. Service was also friendly and on-point. We loved their good quality tea - very flavorful and fragrant. Food was a mixed bag - the homemade tart was alright, the sweet potato fries could’ve been better, the fish croquettes were good, though the lemon cake was too sweet IMHO. Nonetheless we had a pleasant time and would recommend it in a heartbeat.

We booked here for an evening meal and I cannot fault this place at all. Had a lovely relaxed vibe and the staff where so friendly and chatty. I love that you get to enjoy the gin bar in a relaxed atmosphere before the take you through to the restaurant. The service was not rushed so you had plenty of time to enjoy the amazing food, cooked to perfection with amazing flavours. We will definitely be back.

Beautiful place , we did not book but we were very welcome by our host. The service was perfect , the staff are all all very nice and professional. The place is beautiful and well maintained. The food is very nice , delicate and tasty. No problem been gluten free. We will definitely come back and we will book. Merci beaucoup 🤗

Stopped here for a light lunch - had coffee and crispy chicken with ginger mayo - very nice indeed. The service was quick and efficient. It did get very busy after I arrived - to the extent that they were turning people away at one point, as the kitchen was getting backed up. So if you want to be sure of service, it would be best to book at busy times /days.

Fantastic shop, visited on Friday for the first time while on holiday, was recommended by people at my work. Well worth the trip there, the selection of treats is amazing, the moffat toffee is lovely and the customer service was 5*, the man serving there was very helpful.

Wow what a beautiful traditional sweet shop to stumble upon on our travels! Sooo many different sweet treats, it was a little overwhelming seeing it all. The tablet is amazing & chocolate truffles were delicious - seemed a little pricey upon purchase but upon eating I was more than satisfied with the value. Well worth a visit!

Abseloutly amazing. Sweets and chocolate and fudge and toffee everwhere there is more. If you go i greatly reckmend geting chocolate hazelnuts and the original modfat toffee

If you have a sweet tooth or simply want to relive your childhood sweet experience then this is the place for you! So much on offer including the legendary (in my book) sweet coconut tobacco... with friendly and helpful staff I recommend a visit if you're in the area.

We were visiting Moffett and stopped by this candy shop. They had a lot of goodies at reasonable price.

Great selection of sweets and drinks. In particular the whisky range is amazing. Always come here when we are in Moffat if only for some Moffat Toffee.

An Amazing selection of traditional sweets, and confectionery. Also there own original Moffat toffee which is delicious. The shop has an extensive selection of jar sweets, an good selection of Scottish alcohol including Vodka, gin and whisky. The staff where really friendly and helpful. Definitely worth a visit.

A nice restaurant with decent food. Never had any tapas dishes I didn't enjoy. There's gluten-free options, which are coeliac safe. The bartenders are really lovely, and went above and beyond to make a special birthday cake "jar" at Christmas - very kind and creative!

My wife, daughter and I stopped here for lunch on our way back from down south. The restaurant was quiet so no issues with getting a table. Staff were pleasant and helpful. The menu has a good selection of food, offering tapas style small plates, brunch and light bites. Lots to choose from but we decided to choose from the appealing tapas menu. We shared the Stornoway Black Pudding Tattie Bravas, Butter Chicken with Garlic Flatbread, Oven Baked Sticky Chilli Seabass, Hoisin Duck Bon Bons and the Slow Braised Moroccan Lamb with Artisan Bread. The presentation of the dishes was excellent and the quality was very good. Even though it was tapas style the portion sizes were reasonable and fair value overall. Our favourite dish was the bon bons which was delicious. We also liked the black pudding potato bravas and the butter chicken which were both cooked well and had great flavour. The seabass and the lamb were satisfactory but weren’t quite on the same level as the other dishes. They have a variety of desserts. I opted for the lemon meringue pie and my wife got a chocolate pie. Both were lovely. Overall we had an enjoyable lunch here. My daughter certainly had lots of smiles.

Hugo, situated in Moffat, Scotland, is a delightful spot for enjoying brunch. During our visit, we sampled several dishes, each offering a unique experience. It had an unexpected bitter taste and the rice was not as soft as we had hoped, which detracted from the overall enjoyment of the dish. Despite this, Hugo remains a pleasant dining venue. The atmosphere is inviting, making it a great place to relax and enjoy a meal. The only drawback we encountered was the portion sizes, which were somewhat smaller than anticipated. This might leave some diners feeling less satisfied, especially if they have a hearty appetite. Nevertheless, Hugo offers a charming brunch experience with a variety of dishes to explore. While not every item was perfect, the overall quality and ambiance make it a worthwhile visit for brunch enthusiasts in the area.

Stopped off at Hugo's on our way to Castlepoint for a camping break. Called ahead to make sure there was availability, the girl couldn't have been nicer. She reserved us a table at the window with space for our dog Jax. The service was so relaxed, yet first class. The food was amazing, small plates but filled with taste and very fresh (in fact we saw the chef pour the beer from the pumps for the beer battered haddock goujons). We will definitely be returning to Hugo's the next time we're in the area.

We stopped in to Hugo’s for lunch and had such great food. We hadn’t booked but were able to get a table despite it being busy. The three of us had the halloumi and chutney focaccia and it was so good! There was lots of halloumi on the sandwich (which is not common) in lots of other restaurants. We also shared some skinny fries which were nice too. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit!

The food was okay. The thing that really baffled me was the price / portion size difference between some dishes. It felt like they’d come from different kitchens. My wife’s smoked salmon and prawn sandwich was big and great value and was very good. The rest of us ordered loaded fries from the ‘lighter bites’ menu. I was expecting a reasonably sized portion as the price was only a few pounds less than the sandwich and was more than twice the price of a portion of fries. Given the cheap ingredients (chips, haggis, cheese) and the comparative price, I was amazed to see such a tiny portion come out. I’m not a big eater but could comfortably finish two of these. The wildly different profit margins on these dishes made it feel like two different kitchens. The food was okay. The service was better than the other places we tried to get a table in Moffat. They really should consider the value proposition of their menus.

Ordered food and was overcharged it should of been £24.25 was charged £26.00 I was also charged £8 for 4 cans of Coke I ordered a chicken tikka masala pizza it came with the bright red masala sauce on top of the pizza but underneath that was a orange paste type of sauce underneath the cheese it was dry tasteless chicken with about 4 tiny pieces for the whole 12’’ pizza I got a medium doner kabab witch was more like a size for a tiny borrower very dry and old looking you could snap it in half with the dry cardboard pitta the garlic sauce wasn’t garlic sauce it was mint yougurt with a hint of garlic mayo in yukk also came in a bag coverd in chilli sauce AVOID!!!

Spice was about the only restaurant open in Moffat and although we were considering another curry for dinner it wasn't our first choice. The entrance is on the basement down some steps and is not particularly welcoming. The restaurant area itself is a bit 'cafe-ish' in its appearance. However this doesn't matter when you get the vast menu and taste the quality of the food. Service was very good too. We will definitely be going back, but I really wish it felt a bit more welcoming especially in a tourist inspired town.

Food was reasonable. Restaurant was not entirely well maintained (decor tired). Staff not great - one guy serving, possibly also cook, in a paint and food splattered t-shirt. Don't think it'd last long in an area like Leeds or Manchester where there'd be lots of competition.

I wasn’t expecting much based on some of the reviews, but I was really impressed. We ordered Kajoo Masala ChickenTikka and Dharoo Brandy Lamb and both dishes were superb. Very flavoursome and excellent quality. I’m fussy about my curries as I live near Bradford, but Spice India was excellent.

We had poppadoms to start which were very nice, freshly cooked and nice accompaniments. I ordered lamb madras for main but the chef screwed up and I ended up with chicken madras instead, I accepted it and actually it was very nice, albeit not very spicy. My wife ordered chicken balti which she really enjoyed. I ordered onion rice and chapati, both of which were excellent, particularly the chapati which my wife stole half of. All washed down with a large Cobra beer for me and several glasses of merlot for the wife, she said the wine was excellent. It doesn't look much from outside but we were both more than happy with the food, drink, service and pleasant atmosphere.

very disappointed! i was starving after long hike on Grey mare’s trail. found this restaurant on my way to back home. order 2 beef burger 1 fries and 2 cola. Paid 17£ when i opened the box found Hard petty with dry dun no scouse and fries was the same. waste of money.

I called here this evening with my partner and I must say the whole experience wasn't at all enjoyable. The 'restaurant' looked more like a basement cafe and had zero atmosphere; it was cold, had plain walls, red badly-painted woodwork, paper tableclothes etc We ordered poppadoms and chutneys 2 currys, a pulaw rice and a potion of chips. I ordered a Vegetable Lahori curry and I can honestly say I have never tasted anything like it in my life. I love Indian, Pakistani, Punjabi and Nepalese food but I didn't even recognise this dish as a 'curry'. The texture and flavour was just indescribable...thick, bland and lacked any spices you'd normally associate with a curry. We had almost finished our rice before the chips arrived. Absolutely worst Indian meal I have ever had in my life.

Decided to grab a bite to eat with our family. The service that was provided by the women 'Karen' was shocking from the start. She instantly came across as unfriendly, impatient, and rude! Not put off, we placed our order, sat down and our food appeared quickly. It was at this point, that we realised that Karen missed off one of our orders as only 4 out of the 5 arrived. We politely asked where the missing meal was. We were then told by 'Karen' that we should have checked that her order was correct, no apology, just instant blame on us. After suggesting that it was our responsibility to check that she written the order down correctly, and then asking if we paid for it, she then finally agreed to order the meal that we were expecting. Considering the 1st meals arrived quickly, we were expecting a similar time scale. Unfortunately, this wasn't the case! After 15 minutes, there was no sign of the meal. We decided to approach a different member of staff and highlighted the issue and that 'Karen' was very rude. About 10 minutes later the food arrived, a young man also provided 2 portions of chips as a good will gesture. The food was good quality and most of the staff were polite. We are local, and wanted to bring our family to the mill but I'm not sure that we will be returning again, all thanks to one person. I would like to see management dealing with this person. Maybe she was having a bad day, but does not make it right to therefore ruin ours.

Sunday morning myself and my two friends came for breakfast at 10:45 and there was very little breakfast items left on the hot plate. So I asked if breakfast was still being served to be told yes but only what’s left on the hot plate apart from eggs. So me and my other friend managed to pick what we kind of wanted out of what was left but my other friend was left with 4 items to choose from and the lady behind the counter huffed and said I take it you want a hash brown to which my friend said yes if you wouldn’t mind. The older lady serving us was so rude to the 3 of us and when we asked for toast she literally rolled her eyes. When we sat down with our breakfast items what was left was dried out from being under the hot light. The only thing ok was the eggs but none of us wanted to approach the lady about it because of her attitude. THEN i went to get condiments for the table and a lady cleaning the tables said to me you look like you like a breakfast to my disbelief and shock I sat down. I have never been spoke to like that anywhere in my life. Also when leaving the full hot plate was fully replenished with fresh breakfast items . None of the staff looked like they wanted to be there was like a inconvenience that they actually had customers. This was supposed to be a nice end to a relaxing weekend away with friends and was one of the worst customer service experiences I have ever encountered.

2pm on a Tuesday was not expecting to be busy but got the feeling I was in the way for there restaurant Soup and a sandwich Sandwich was help your self from the small fridge Normally a sandwich is made up with a bit of salad snd few crisp This was straight out of the packet As for the shop more like a bizarre rather than anything else I guess the coach companies keep the place alive otherwise wise it would not exist any more.

More like a bazaar than woolen mill, clothes hanging everywhere with no proper Isles. Trying to get served with food was a slow process.

Had a really awful lunch there. The atmosphere was cold and unwelcoming and felt like a dated canteen. Most of the staff had no interest with decent service - one lady was nice but the rest didn't want to be there and one guy was making me feel like leaving before we ordered but my husband was hungry. The food was incredibly basic, again, like canteen standards but it was the price that should be providing restaurant standards. Sorry we were there and wouldn't go back.

Called in on a rainy day for lunch. Dog friendly and the lady brought a big bowl of water for my 2 dogs. Trio of haggis and bbq chicken to start, steak pie and slow roasted featherblade of beef for main then lemon tart and toffee crunch for puds. A pint of lager and a diet coke. £75 for all which was so worth it. Haggis was amazing, featherblade was beautifully cooked, tender and so tasty. Lemon tart was gorgeous. The rest was devoured by my husband who said it was lovely. Highly recommended 👌

We went upstairs at the restaurant. Decor is very modern and exceptionally clean. Staff were very attentive. Food is first class. Got served very quickly. I ordered a rib eye, with chips and side salad. My wife ordered the steak pie. The portion sizes are very good and are more than adequate. Food was served very fresh and hot. Chips were amazing. Would highly recommend a visit when you are in Moffat. The restaurant was very busy so would advise booking ahead of time.

Nice, quaint Hotel in a great location in Moffat. Had a lovely meal although waited an hour to be served as they were very busy but not a problem really. Downside was 10.30am check out time on a Sunday morning and soundproofing was terrible in room three.

Really enjoyed our 1st visit to the Star. Walked in off the street, was Tod table available in 30mins, on returning with our dog, settled in to enjoy our meal, food was excellent, service was really friendly and efficient.. happy to return again and will definitely recommend 😁👌

Beautiful handmade chocolates. In particular, the raspberry ganache. Truly stand out. The packaging is lovely. Good quality boxes which make the purchase that bit classier. I look forward to my next visit to Moffat and this lovely shop.

We stopped by this handmade chocolate shop as a little treat for my daughter’s birthday, and we couldn’t have chosen better. The chocolates looked like pieces of art—so beautifully made and packaged that it almost felt a shame to eat them. But once we did… they were absolutely delicious. Every piece was perfect. The packaging made it feel extra special, and it would be such a lovely gift for any occasion (and I noticed they sell online too). We’ll definitely be back. Thank you so much for the beautiful and tasty chocolates❤️

My wife and I popped in at the weekend looking for a coffee and a scone. We found the best hand made chocolates we have ever had. The owner chatted to us about how he trained as a chocolatier and how all the sweets were hand made. We bought some chocolate and some fudge, it was all incredible. Would highly recommend!

Wow! Fudge and chocolates were amazing. Were allowed to sample the chocolate fillings before buying and everything we tasted was superb! The chocolates are stunning to look at as well. Very reasonably priced given the amount of artistry/man hours that goes into them. We opted for orange and Bailey's

Was a lovely place to find. We found the owners very welcoming and really enjoyed our ice creams, coffees and later that evening the chocolates we had bought. The place is really well lit and clean. Coffee was amazing (I’ve got a good machine at home but this was the best I’ve had outside) Owners seem really genuine and welcoming. Will be back soon for more coffee and a bigger box of chocolates. 😉

A Very nice museum that is free to enter, you can give a donation into the box inside if you want, it helps keep the place open for visitors

Small free museum but staff were very friendly and informative, told us lots about the museum and the local area. Not much for little kids to do but there is a little model train which the staff ran a few times for our toddler, and there is a little picture hunt which kept him entertained. Worth popping in if you're in the area and interested in history

A FREE museum you can visit Moffat, learn all about how Moffat became a Spa Town, the famous people, and the education. There's even stories about Merlin, or druid's that lived here over hundreds of years ago.

Moffat and museum are superb!. Moffat has a good selection of well presented shops and very clean streets that put others to shame! Will definitely visit again 5 star!

What a lovely little shop! They have a wonderful eye for jewelry and art. Everything they sell is handmade in the UK and is reasonably priced. One for the owners was in the shop, and was such a pleasure to chat with. Although I didn’t get a chance to see the rest of Moffat, it looked like a charming town.

This is a lovely shop with a very good range of good quality diverse arts and craft items and a very warm welcome. We are especially grateful that there was space for our dog to wait inside with us (which can also help those with pushchairs). A definite place to visit when you are in Moffat!

Owned by lovely 3 ladies with a passion for craft & design and have come together to create something wonderful. Not a place to bypass; trust me. They are "dedicated to promoting the work of talented designers" from the region and around the UK. The jewellery is magnificent with supreme quality - I bought an amazing bracelet knowing that no one else will have it which makes it more special. Looking forward to going back. A fabulous little shop with an amazing choice of handmade products. There must be something for everyone here. The staff (owners I believe) are so incredibly helpful and willing to help with any information about Moffat, not just the shop. Definitely a place for a re-call .... soon.

An amazing place for gifts that are not outrageously priced. The people that run it have a good eye so ask their advice x got some amazing cards in there yesterday. Each time I go there os always something new that I would like but with some great favourites as well

The food is nice, and made well. The service, however, was extremely slow. They do cater for gluten free, but were not sure which fillings were gluten free, so opted for cheese to be safe. Satisfactory experience.

An essential stop on our way up to the Highlands. Quick service and lovely food. Can get busy, so you may need to wait 15-30 minutes for a table minutes at peak times. Haggis and mozzarella panini is always a winner, as is the Biscoff milkshake!

Looks lovely but we had a bad experience with a rude member of staff who was on a power trip. If you go there is a sign wait to be seated but 🤞🏻no one is stood in front when you go. We did receive an apology but sadly our trip was ruined from the beginning however we enjoyed our coffee and cake.

We stopped here for some lunch on our journey south two kinths ago and we were very impressed with it. The cafe was very busy but we got seated quickly and the staff worked hard ensuring that no one was waiting long to be served. Our food cane relatively quickly whichbwas great. We were more than happy with the quality of the food, it tasted great. We passed through Moffat with family α month later and made sure to take them here for lunch and they enjoyed it too.

Mixed messages from the staff and the signs on the door. Signs state "order at the counter", so we went in, looking for a seat, when a member of staff rudely said "there's a queue and people infront of you, go join it". That's exactly what she said. Some basic customer service would hage helped at that point. Didn't bother joining the queue and found a gem cafe down the street instead.

Probably the worst food I've ever had at a café and certainly the worst scrambled eggs which were wet, sloppy and tasteless (real school meal experience). My colleague had single joyless pancake, which ispretty difficultto accomplish given we'retalking about pancakes (and thinking you'd get a stack you'd be wrong!) The staff were nice and place was clean, but I'll never be going back. Dissapointed I couldn't leave abetter review

We left Stirling and on our way to the Lake District. We decided to drop by this town to eat lunch. We found this cafe and it was welcoming. The ambiance was very nice. The owner and staff were friendly. The food were delicious. They only take cash.

I had tea and a delicious raspberry , banana and white chocolate scone. Didn't need jam but got extra butter. Sat outside in pleasant seating area. Service was quick, friendly and efficient. Will come back for lunch when next in Moffat.

So we're staying on the CCC site I Moffatt and hubby's desperate for a proper Scottish breakfast. Has to have lorne sausage, haggis, tattie scone ect. All red hot, cooked to order, plate hot too. He was not disappointed see photo. Lovely staff, not rushed. I expect we'll have to call in again, we've got time lol

My wife and I just went in to grab a coffee and a quick breakfast. The coffee and food were great. The staff were so friendly and we really enjoyed talking to them. We ended up ordering a second coffee and chatting for a bit longer then we expected.

A beautiful little cafe in Moffat comprising of two rooms. Artistically decorated with colourful paintings on the wall and artistic tables and chairs. The artwork hanging on the walls is for sale. The staff are polite and welcoming, good service and the food is good. I enjoyed my sausage, egg, bacon and chips and plan on visiting regularly on my trips to Scotland as Moffat is a good place to have a break on my journey and close to the motorway.

Nice cafe for a quick bite. A good range of choices on the menu all served without fuss. Prices are reasonable. Un like some food places in Moffat, the service was a lot better.

Lovely little cafe. I’ve stayed in Scotland all week and this was the best breakfast I’ve had all week. The sausages were lush! Very attentive and quick service. Although young staff, all there very confident and happy to serve. Lovely little place! See you when I come back up north!

Happy, attentive and considerate staff. Sat us in an easy location to store our motorcycle helmets. Food was exactly what we wanted for a reasonable price too. This cafe is run extremely well and will be somewhere I return. Can't wait to visit again!

Lovely place in the heart of Moffat! We were visiting on our way up to the Highlands and it was great seeing so many locals having breakfast and coffee there. Service was wonderful, the young lad who served us was super friendly and attentive, and even though they were quite busy he kept checking on us and everyone else to make sure everything was okay. We had the veggie breakfast (£9) and scrambled eggs with salmon (£9.90), all delicious and very generous portions. We were also pleasantly surprised with the coffee, barista-style, smooth and well poured - extra points for having oat milk! Overall, I highly recommend this place for breakfast or even just a stop for a nice coffee. For those travelling with pet companions, sadly they don’t allow dogs inside (that’s our only ‘but’!)

I’m sure it was being run by teenagers…. But it was fantastic. They were so friendly. The music and decor were fab too. Great vegan breakfast and they were happy for me to charge my phone and battery pack.

Popped here today, saw the sign on the door saying no dogs allowed! (Was just me and my dog) but the staff were fantastic and helped me get my order without leaving my dog outside! And the food was fab, best fish and chips I’ve had in a long time, fish was in a lovely thin crispy batter and chips were perfect, no grease on anything! And the dog loved his sausage! Just lovely thank you!

Have purchased from here in the past whilst on my travels. Stopped today to give my daughter a treat as she was visiting from Aberdeen. Quality really gone done hill, fish supper portion size very small - I initially asked for more chips, as the portion was so poor, then upon reflection, I decided to take the fish supper, and single fish back as it wasn’t worth almost £17. Add to that the chips were floppy and didn’t look fresh. Didn’t sample the fish. Gentleman serving said he’s never had any previous complaints - I think that’s because most folk are too embarrassed and just decided not to go back. I did get a refund, which was the only positive.

This is my second time using this chippy. First time was great. Unfortunately we had a bad meal. Spicy chicken kebab, I love spicy hot food. This nearly kilked my husband, I think they has cooked the chicken in a full tub of hot chilli powder, straight in the bin it went, waste of good money.

I rang this place as a vegetarian with dietary requirements asking a simple question; which oil their chips were fried in and if they did any meat products and if so, if it was fried separately. The woman on the phone was extremely rude and sarcastic, for instance when I asked if they serve meat products she replied with ‘we are a chip shop.’ Wouldn’t even touch this place with a barge pole after this disgusting experience on a short phone call. Learn how to speak to potential customers and sort out your attitude. EDIT: the owner read my review and shortly called to discuss my experience. They were very polite and understanding of the situation, which I really appreciate. +score to service.

Popped to Moffat for a white pudding supper however none available. I ordered steak pie and haddock. Amazing taste and cooked to perfection. Thank you.

3 suppers and a pizza purchased, all very good. We were visiting for the weekend, this was a great feed for first night after a long drive.

We found this place when looking for a unique local gift for a friend who likes gin. It was a quick stop en route back to England, but the experience, conversation, and surroundings were great. Erin, the owner, was waiting to greet us, we had messaged the day before. She was very welcoming and knowledgeable and gave us a little tour of the place to help us understand the history and the process of their drinks. We left with the gin plus some Moffat Moonshine and flavored whiskey for ourselves to take back with us to where we live in Vietnam. My favourite was the raspberry. We will be back for a restock and a full tour, next time we are in Scotland.

Excellent experience. We did the whisky tour. It was very informative. Idy told us the history of the distillery and Guillaume gave us a tour of the facility. He was very patient answering all our questions. At the end of the tour Helen introduced us to their gins and whiskies. We tasted their two gins and three cordials. Currently (7/2025) their whisky hasn’t been aged in the barrel for the required 3 years so it was not available for tasting. So we tried their moonshine 😀. The owner has bottled some blends of various whiskies to his formula and we tried those too. I highly recommend visiting and doing the tour. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. I hope they are successful for years to come. Moffat is such a great little town. This is a welcome addition.

Today, I had the pleasure of visiting the Moffat Distillery. Upon arrival, I was warmly welcomed by the staff. They took the time to show me every aspect of whisky production. Afterwards, I had the opportunity to taste their 10-month-old maturing new make, as well as their gin. The new make was surprisingly good. I’m very curious to see how the whisky will taste after 8 to 10 years in the cask. It certainly shows great promise! I'm a whisky enthusiast, but even the gin was quite enjoyable. I host whisky nosing and tasting events myself and therefore regularly visit distilleries. Moffat was the 52nd I’ve visited. It was a pleasure to see that they weren’t pushy about selling anything. As a guest, you genuinely feel welcome, and their passion for single malts is clearly something they love to share. The distillery’s unique production method, where the stills are heated directly with a wood fire, and their small production capacity (12,000 liters per year) make it well worth a visit. I look forward to presenting the single malt from this distillery in a few years. Today's experience will certainly contribute positively to that. Slàinte!

What an incredibly distillery! We did a group tour with our wedding guests since we're all from the US and wanted to have a distillery tour for everyone. Erin gave us the tour and she was so knowledgeable, passionate, and so friendly! She showed us every step of the process and lead our tasting afterwards. She was also the one to help us book the tour and she was so communicative and helpful! Nick was also there during the tour to answer some of our questions and it's very clear that they are so proud of their business and what it's been doing for the industry and community. It was the perfect stop for our group to get a taste of Scotland!

Lovely experience! We arrived 10min before closing time and the owner,American lady, was absolutely the best - she made us taste whisky and told us about the distillery. We will be back for a proper whisky experience.

We did the tour, small group of four. Very informative and as it was hosted by the owners any questions asked were expertly answered. Perfect day and we'll worth the money and time spent in this delightful distillery

Road down to the nature park's car park is very rough and height barrier prevented me parking my motorhome. I do understand that they don't want overnight campers. However it's a lovely spot.

Very small little reserve, but nice all the same. We did 1.2miles which was up to the end of the lake and back, as you can only get that far, then around the other side. There's plenty of bird Hides and benches.

Amazing place. Hidden picnic benches. Great wildlife. Interesting walks/trails. Complete silence. I enjoyed my stay wild camping here. It's legal in Scotland. I drove from Yorkshire to enjoy. 5 stars

Looks like it might be a nice place to spend some time with nature in better weather. The paths were very wet in February and it could do with a path away from the road linking up the reserve nearest the town over the field by the old railway bridge. The nature signs were clear and informative and the benches looked good for families to stop and have a picnic.

Spent a couple hours between the 2 waterside hides, was lovely and relaxing. The Mrs was impressed with the sight of a pair of nesting Grebe's on the nest. The road in could do with a little attention but the footpath was in great condition

A great place for a small family walk picnic areas and seating to rest and reflect and just chill. Didn't see to many different types of birds on the day I went but still a nice walk

It could do with a bit of t l c there was not as many birds about as last time I visited notably water birds apart from a heron and a couple of swan's that all no coots water hen or ducks

Great cafe & lovely Breakfast. Used to be one of the best small water fly fisheries in Scotland, unique as the water is Gin clear & you can stalk the fish, however now nearly fully weed choked and badly needing attention, Sad it’s in such a poor state as it was a favourite day out for myself and many other anglers.

Hidden gem, cafe great, camping, caravans, motorhomes all welcome..... BUT, there is also two trout ponds on site... no rod, you can hire a rod, with bait catch your dinner! RECOMMENDED

Well looked after, but still allowing the natural rustic nature of the site to prevail. The cafe offers a good selection of freshly cooked food. Owners are helpful and customer focused. An ideal place to relax and recharge.

Grand morning out with the added bonus of the sun. We don't fish but had a lovely walk around the ponds and very nice bacon and haggis bagel and a bacon and haggis roll. Service was excellent with very good staff ♡♡

Evolution Women's Motorcycle Club were delighted to be hosted again by The Green Frog for our annual "Border Meet". Great food, friendly and welcoming staff and a wonderful setting to help us kick start the biking season.

Gr8 fishery was down staying in moffat for a week went fly fishing few times had gr8 sport fish are good quality aswel as the food and the water is crystal clear the only thing that lets it down for me is the weeds if u can fish round it ul get them but there working on clearing it. 5 stars for the staff and fishing and food i will defo be back had a brilliant few days there 🎣👌

Well that was disappointing we booked a table for 6pm and once we were seated were told that we had to be gone by 8pm as the table was re-booked again and we had to be finished. (Great start) The whole time we sat there the waitress was sorting the clean cutlery throwing it into the containers ready for laying the tables you couldn't here yourself think let alone have a conversation over the din. Then the same women waitresses had such bad attitude and seamed as though they really didn't want to be there and we really didn't appreciate listening to them bad mouthing the clients which left as we where eating our meal. The male waiter was really good and was engaging. The food was edible but decidlbly average. We do not recommend.

A gem of a place just off the main street. Lovely atmosphere and friendly folks that welcome you from the door to the table. The service was very efficient, a little banter here and there and we were well looked after. Definitely a restaurant worthy of a second and third visit, or a few more.

Beautiful meal here for my brother’s birthday. Attentive, accommodating and friendly staff. We had booked but they let us in early. Food was well-cooked, fresh and tasty, with good sized portions without over-feeding us. Good menu with lots of choice. The tables are in lots of different spaces throughout the building which makes for privacy but did not result in us being overlooked at any point. Definitely worth the journey!

Wonderful atmosphere, attentive staff and delicious food. This was a perfect find on the edge of town. We had the marinara - it was packed full of seafood and had the most delicious taste, reasonably priced too.

The food is excellent. The chicken with fennel and sausage was one of the best dishes I’ve had recently. I’ll definitely be back.
