Historical place
Malahide Castle & Gardens, located just a short drive north of central Dublin in the charming seaside village of Malahide, is a medieval fortress set in 260 acres of parkland. The castle features an intriguing mix of architectural styles and houses a collection of antiques, paintings, and period furniture from the Neo-Classical and Rococo eras.
This was an incredible experience! It was 48 euro for our family of 5. You have to buy tickets ahead of time, so make sure you do that. They want you to arrive about 10 mins early, so you may have to wait to for your tour to start. The tour guide we had was funny, thoughtful and really knew the history of the property. The tickets include tickets to the fairy gardens and the butterfly gardens. Both of those spots were great for the kids. This property is so large that you can easily spend an entire day looking at everything. They have a shop, cafe, gift shop, restaurant, and a large playground for the kids. This is absolutely worth the money, and a really fun stop while in Dublin.

Beautiful castle, butterfly garden, walled garden, fairie garden, and I believe a West garden. There was plenty of room on the grounds for two separate sports games going on in two different fields, and the parents, to be in the free parking. Cafe, restaurant, gift shop, also on grounds.Thrre also was ruins of an Abbey with a cemetery surrounding. A free museum, before you get to castle, and with paid admission, another museum under the castle. I believe they have a guided tour every 1/2 a hour.

I had an absolutely lovely visit to Malahide Castle, and the guided tour was a real highlight thanks to our guide, Darina. The castle itself is beautiful, but the tour struck the perfect balance between storytelling and giving us time to explore the rooms on our own. Darina was fantastic — incredibly funny, charming, and wonderfully easy to understand. She spoke clearly and patiently, making the tour accessible even for visitors who don’t speak English fluently. Even when a few children were being a bit chaotic and touched things they really shouldn’t have, she stayed calm, professional, and kind, which impressed all of us. After the tour, I visited the botanical gardens and the butterfly house, both of which were stunning. The butterfly house in particular completely blew me away. A beautiful place, a great experience, and a guide who truly made my day. Highly recommended!

This was a very pretty castle. We did the castle and gardens tour. Our guide Brendan gave lots of good information about the family and the castle. Get there a little before your tour time so that you can go through the family tree timeline I like that this one has furniture in it so you could get a feel for the life there at the castle.
Melissa H — Google review
Beautiful castle. Interesting history. Close to Dublin. I highly recommend it. Our tour guide was great and had a lot of knowledge not only about the inhabitants but about life in Ireland during different time periods in history. I found him interesting and the stories even more lively. The grounds are beautiful but because of the rain, we couldn’t explore as much as we wanted to. I highly recommend the shop and cafe as well.
Faequa K — Google review
Wonderful time. Tour was informative and not too long. Guide was wonderful. The walk through the gardens and butterfly house were great. Plan to spend 3 plus hours if you want to walk through the gardens and butterfly house.
Melissa C — Google review
The whole area is so well-organised and we spent almost a whole day over there. We paid €17 each (adult) for the entrance ticket, guide tour included. The lady tour guide was fantastic. The castle itself quite small but very well curated, totally worth a visit! We spent time afterword at the shop and the cafe.
Carol W — Google review
An absolutely wonderful place to visit — one of the best family days out in Dublin! The castle itself is fascinating, full of history and beautifully preserved, with friendly and knowledgeable staff who make the tour really enjoyable. The gardens are immaculate — from the old trees and flower beds to the wide open lawns, everything feels peaceful and perfectly maintained. The butterfly house was a real highlight for us — a magical little world full of colour and calm, ideal for kids and adults alike. The playground is one of the best we’ve seen anywhere, clean, safe, and full of clever design features that keep children entertained for ages. The Avoca restaurant and shop are fantastic too — great coffee, delicious food, and plenty of local products and gifts to browse. Everything is beautifully presented, and the staff are friendly and welcoming throughout. It’s the kind of place you could easily spend half a day just wandering, relaxing, and enjoying the atmosphere. Plenty of parking, good facilities, and overall an excellent experience from start to finish. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Dublin or looking for a perfect weekend outing. 🌳🦋☕️🇮🇪

The Fairy Trail at Malahide Castle and Gardens is a 1.8km enchanting experience nestled in the picturesque woodlands of Malahide Castle. Children can delight in discovering fairy houses, sculptures, and hidden surprises along the trail with the help of a map. Even older visitors find enjoyment in the whimsical sculptures and fairy houses. For a fee, visitors can explore the butterfly garden and the captivating fairy tail garden, which offers a delightful stroll through gardens accompanied by an engaging story.
For 8.5 euros you can visit the butterfly garden and the fairy tail garden. The fairy tail garden is a nice walk in the gardens and especially nice for children since it has a story walking thriugh. The botanic and butterfly gardens are especially nice seeing the caterpillars butterflies and the cocoons. The place has a long history and everything is well explained

Fairy Trail is a magical and fun place, especially for children. The trail goes through a green forest with small fairy houses and cute decorations. It feels like you are in a fairy tale. It’s also a good walk for adults who love nature and quiet places. I liked the creative details and the peaceful path. It’s perfect for a short visit with family.

A nice additional visit to do when you're at Malahide. The Fairy Trail gives you a lot of infos about Irish folklore and legends with nice sculptures all over the place, be curious and explore this magical park 🧚‍♀️

The butterfly house as well as the fairy garden are amazing and well worth a money. The grounds around it are free and they have a very cool playground with plenty of things to do. The staff are also super friendly and helpful.

Excellent walk. Located near the Malahide Castle. On my visit, there was no people which allowed me to take pictures and walk in peace. A very unique trail I must say. You do need a ticket to access it, although it does come with tickets to the Castle and Botanical Gardens.

It is about 1 hour walk. A few nice statues on the trail. But not that much to charge you around 10 euros per person. Children enjoys to find the fairy houses.

Avoca Malahide is a popular spot in North County Dublin, located near the 12th century Malahide Castle. It offers a fancy cafeteria-style dining experience with a variety of options for both vegans and non-vegans. The menu includes vegan-friendly salads and other dishes, making it a great place to meet up with friends and family before exploring the castle grounds.
The cafe is really nice, lunch is expensive but it’s made using high quality products so I don’t mind the price too much. Nice selection to take home products too, as well as books and clothing.

After enjoying the 30- 35 walk around the scenic grounds of Malahide castle ( free around the castle), Avoca shop offers a great selection of clothing, souvenirs and the like of all things Irish. Make sure to pit stop for a coffee, a salad, a lunch or a dinner in the cafe. We went for breakfast outdoors in the courtyard area. Nice breeze, atmosphere and worldly feel with such a mix of young, old and all backgrounds from all parts of the globe.

Bustling lunchtime spot during the middle of the day. Situated on the Malahide Castle grounds with a very nice shopping area for clothing and such. Plenty of options for food and sweets too. My coffee was good and the sausage roll was very tasty! Worth stopping after walking the 250 acre castle grounds. Already decorated for Christmas in mid-November!

Avoca at Malahide Park is a must-visit. Located in the beautiful grounds of Malahide Castle, it offers a stylish shop with clothing, homewares, gifts, and a fantastic food market. The café serves delicious fresh dishes and treats, with an outdoor terrace overlooking the gardens. Perfect for a relaxed meal after exploring the park.
Dorian N — Google review
Who ever manages the staff at both the main coffee shop and the small courtyard section really need to watch there staff. The most uninterested group I have ever witnessed, actively looking past customers, ignoring customers and chatting. Seriously bad customer awareness and service.
Kevin M — Google review
Extremely bad takeaway coffee made yesterday. 3 young staff on and the 2 girls were chatting away while there was a massive queue waiting. The coffee was just warm milk. It cost 10 euro almost for 2 coffees. Quality was so bad
Ann G — Google review
I’m a big fan of Avoca, I love their food and especially their salads. On a visit to Avoca in Malahide yesterday I was a bit disappointed though. Firstly, they still have not found a way to have a dog friendly section for the cafe. In a park full of people walking their dogs yesterday it seemed a real shame. We ended up getting a take away and sitting outside which I honestly didn’t mind, it was such a beautiful day and we had a lovely picnic on the grass with our dog next to us in the shade. But I was disappointed that the portions of salad given seemed very small compared to what I’ve been given in the past #shrinkflation
Linda A — Google review
I would have rated this more highly as I had a quite nice experience in the shop. However the cafe experience was pretty poor. The staff are the least engaging team I have seen in a long time. No hello, no eye contact, no smile, and they seemed more interested in moaning to each other about someone that had annoyed them. I spent €18 euro on a bap and a coffee. Got to the till, and again another staff member who didn’t want to be there… didnt say hello, didn’t say thank you, didn’t explain the process. Then my coffee was ice cold by the time the food came. Really flat, disinterested service.

Nestled within the grounds of Malahide Castle, the Butterfly House is a captivating sanctuary where visitors can immerse themselves in the beauty of these delicate creatures. Housing a diverse array of butterfly species from around the world, this conservatory provides an up-close encounter with their vibrant colors and intricate patterns. Surrounded by tropical plants and enchanting forests, guests can witness these graceful insects fluttering about in a warm and inviting glasshouse.
I happened upon the butterfly house while wandering through the Malahide Gardens and was so glad I did! What a quaint, beautiful experience. I’ve never seen so many pretty butterflies. 🦋

It is nice thr butterfly house is small and ok for 20 minutes. I was expecting more butterflies 🦋. It is warm and it is difficult to stay more than 20-30 minutes inside. They can have more butterflies 🦋. Good thing the butterfly house has unlimited access till 18:00 so one can go as many times as one wants. Students have discounted tickets for castle and butterfly house 🏠. There is avoca cafe just near to it and it is amazing place to have coffee and food 😀

Visited the butterfly house and was genuinely enchanted by the variety and beauty of the butterflies. It’s a peaceful, colorful space and well-maintained. Great spot for nature lovers, families, or anyone who just wants a quiet moment surrounded by vibrant beauty.

Went on a Sunday afternoon in July, plenty tickets available and there were plenty of spaces in the car park. You are able to spend as much time in the butterfly house as you'd like and it was an amazing experience. Adult tickets are very reasonable at 8euro each too☺️
Nicole B — Google review
You access the Butterlfly house through the Gardens (we paid €8 which gave us access to the two gardens and the butterfly house), and it's really a fascinating experience. It's relatively small but you do a loop around a large greenhouse which houses dozens of butterflys, which fly happily around you. Great for photographers, great for kids, just a great little experience.
David D — Google review
Im no butterfly expert but i think clearing the spiderwebs and trimming the plants would stop the mass butterfly genocide in that greenhouse. The butterflies get stuck behind plants and end up dead. Could use a bit of thought in how you organise the place

Heritage building
The Casino Model Railway Museum, situated in the heart of Malahide Village, is a must-visit for railway enthusiasts and history aficionados. Housed in the beautifully restored Casino cottage, this museum showcases Cyril Fry's iconic model railway collection, reflecting Ireland's rich railway history. With over 350 models on display, visitors can take a captivating journey through Ireland's rail heritage while also exploring the fascinating history of the historic building itself.
Great history, Its very small but interesting. Family tickets 30€
Lupascu V — Google review
Nice little museum. Plenty of static displays of models made by Cyril Fry with help from his Wife and Daughter. Respect to them all, as they were all scratch built. The model layout is a modern one, in "OO", the original layout would have been "O" guage. Still impressive though. For the kids, there is a sort of DART interactive train for them to pretend to be a Driver. Worth visiting for an hour if in the area.
Michael J — Google review
Haven't been to the museum since it was housed in Malahide Castle many moons ago. So we were excited to visit and see the new location. It's smaller in layout and lots of history. Models are on display and good infographics dotted around the place. The actual layouts, although seem impressive on first glance, well after40mins of studying the details. You can tell the layouts were designed and built by someone that has no interest in model railways. For one, Fry's models are O gauge and these were OO, lots of the model baseboard is taken up by 'water' effects, making it appear larger than it is. Bray head is just a big mound stuck on the end of the display. The buildings weren't very realistic or built well, I've seen scratch built amateur buildings that are 80% better than what's on display here. The biggest disappointment was the fact the B&I ferry and the Dart are no longer running. I get that models get old and need to be cared for, but those models were built by workers in the "works". They need to be recognised. Overall I just felt disappointed that Fry's enthusiasm and love of modelling his railway is lost in this museum layout. It's a museum first and the railways play second fiddle to that. The wow factor of the original layout is gone and that's heartbreaking for railway model enthusiasts everywhere. I'd say go see it for yourself, it's a nice day out but it's not Fry's original layout. It's one and done for us.
Bridget S — Google review
Nice collection of vintage trains ad buses. low the mini cities with working mini trains added with sounds and working traffic lights.
Satti C — Google review
The building looks amazing. Inside you'll find a large collection of metal model trains. There is an automated train layout inside where a couple of trains do a circle. I didn't find this layout very appealing because of the large tunnels which makes the trains disappear for a while. However my 4 year old had a great time.
Lucas K — Google review
Very interesting display of working model trains and stations. Smaller than I expected. Tour took 25 minutes. I had children with me and they enjoyed it. I need to go back on my own and take time to read all the info on display. Pleasant staff. Museum was busy at mid-term break, with children and their parents. Makes sense to book in advance. The family ticket at 22 euro is reasonably priced. Recommended, but I would suggest that you might tie it in with a trip to the Howth Transport Museum, which is only open on Saturdays and Sundays.
SeanP — Google review
It is small, but kids loved it. Interactive, kids got a sheet of paper with different pictures of trains and they had to find them on display. We were in and out in 25 mins. Great collection of models.
Kate K — Google review
Absolutely amazing. I visted the Museum when it was within the grounds of the Malahide castle and there were original hand made trains were running in brilliantly designed landscapes of different parts of Ireland. The museum is still part of the Castle and is now located in the old hunting house so it is smaller and all original model trains are on display and new models were put in the running trains to catch up with the modern times. Still brilliant. Highly recommended. Just to note tickets start at 5 euro.

Cafe
Breakfast restaurant
Seomra Tae, located on Main Street, is a cozy cafe offering all-day breakfast and a variety of homemade cakes and snacks. Visitors can enjoy dishes like the Caesar wrap with homemade crisps and hot chocolate. The cafe's homely interiors create a welcoming atmosphere for patrons to savor their meals. With friendly staff and reasonable prices, it's a great spot for breakfast or light bites in Malahide village.
Mondays. We all hate them. The sort of day where the road feels longer, the sky looks greyer, and you wonder if civilisation would collapse if you just went back to bed. I was out doing deliveries, running on fumes and bad temper, when I stumbled into Seomra Tae in Malahide. And thank heavens I did. Inside were three women – absolute angels disguised as café staff – who took one look at me, clearly falling apart at the seams, and decided I needed saving. They handed me a cappuccino. Not just any cappuccino, mind you. This was molten joy in a cup. The first sip was like the clouds parting, a choir singing, and my entire Monday being reset. By the second sip, I was convinced I could drive a thousand miles. By the third, I was fairly certain I was in love. It was smooth, rich, perfectly balanced – the kind of coffee you don’t just drink, you have a relationship with. So here’s the thing: Seomra Tae isn’t just a café. It’s a sanctuary. A place run by saints, disguised as baristas, who have the power to turn the worst day into something bearable with one cup of coffee. If you’re in Malahide and you don’t stop in, you’re making a catastrophic error in judgement.
Mr F — Google review
I had the caesar wrap and a hot chocolate for lunch. Very tasty, it comes with home made crisps which I enjoyed. Looks like a family run restaurant. One recommendation I have is to make the table service more efficient. The waiters weren't serving me at all and I had to go to the counter directly(2 times) to order after waiting for more than 10 minutes. Bear in mind, they were serving other people that arrived after me.
Daniel — Google review
Prices have gone up and are currently misleading on the order online page. That's poor when someone's had to trek back over to ask, but if a business meets me quite firmly after that and says 'sorry' only especially after not handing me a menu before eating I'm not going to return. €10 is value for money including a basic tea or coffee. Higher than this isn't.
Sen S — Google review
The charm of a family owned and operated cafe cannot be substituted. The food was freshly prepared and served with a smile. The coffee was as good as any major chain if not better and the ambiance of the cafe is fantastic.

We enjoyed a light breakfast and coffee on the front patio this morning. The avacodo toast and Americano were both great. The service was very friendly and fast!

The cafe had run out of eggs, but the waitress offered gently to switch them for something else. My friend asked for extra bacon and me for extra toast instead. The breakfast menu was nice and cheap. The toilet was not clean.

I came here in June. I ordered a hamburger. It was delicious. And trust me, I'm a drinker. 🤣 The cocktails here are so good and delicious. I really want to go back there again. And the waitresses are so helpful. If you guys open late, I'll be the one to taste every cocktail until closing time! 😂

Had a really pleasant meal here on Saturday night, found the staff very pleasant and helpful. Sat in the courtyard which I was impressed with. Shared prawns, scallops and the ham hock for starters, only downside would be the "habanero" prawns had zero kick to them but that's just a personal choice. The ham hock itself was a bit meh but the accompanying flavours made up for it. The scallop was cooked perfectly. For mains I had the sea bass with the miso sweet potato mash which was delicious. Also tried the pasta dish which was good. The little desserts they had were also a plus. Tasty and just the right size for me. Very enjoyable time here, would go back

Just home from Sunday lunch and it was just faultless. Great menu, impeccable service and delicious food. I had the prawns for starter which were really good. I'd been looking forward to the roast beef all week and it didn't disappoint- perfectly cooked medium and the roast potatoes and veg were delicious. Without question, the best roast beef I've eaten while dining out. Dessert was also amazing and just the right size after a perfect meal. Wouldn't be doing the team justice if I didn't give a special mention to the staff who were all very helpful and friendly. We will definitely be back.

We booked Old Street for a private dinner the night before our wedding this summer, and I've been meaning to leave a review ever since. What an absolutely fabulous restaurant for such an occasion! From the correspondence booking the dinner, to the service and the food, and the perfect space for a private dinner, we couldn't have been happier with everything. Elaine was great in helping us plan and everyone was so friendly on the night. It was one of my favourite times of the whole wedding weekend. Thanks all, can't wait to come back!

Wow! I don't really need to say more than that because it covers every aspect of their service, ambiance, menu, presentation, and the food itself. Gambas with a side of steamed vegetables was an ideal light dinner and they were receptive to my guest's dietary needs and flexible in creating a lovely dish for her. Well done all around!
Tim K — Google review
Pricey enough but service is great and the food is nice. My only complaint is the remade desserts. I think there should be desserts that are on par with everything else but they fall far short but are still nice.
Adam K — Google review
Good place for celebrating a special occasion, (this place is on the expensive side). Food was very nice, we had two different starters and 3 main courses to try different things. The tuna starter and the duck main were amazing, however the steak left a lot to be desired, considered it was 39€. We got all 3 desserts, they were ok, but none were that great. Portions are on the smaller side, but beautifully plated. The service was really great. We did not order any wine, only 1 beer, but the main, a mini dessert each and a starter to share came to more or less €50 per person.

It's an iconic neighborhood spot perfect for a leisurely walk-and-brunch weekend combo, featuring a cute outdoor area for warmer months.
Great coffee place experience. Staff and food exxcellent. A bit noisy when I went. Sara was welcoming and quick to serve. Lemonade is class! Paper straws are useless. Definetly reccomend this place if you’re in Malahide area or near the castle. Will visit again 😊

The Garden House in Malahide is a true gem for garden and home lovers. It offers a fantastic selection of outdoor plants, indoor greenery, stylish garden furniture, premium BBQs, and beautiful home décor. The on-site café serves delicious, freshly made food in a charming thatched building, with friendly staff and a warm atmosphere. Free parking makes visiting easy, and the variety of products and inspiration here makes it well worth a trip.

Beautifully decorated for Christmas. Every bauble that you could imagine and more. Had courgette and lemon soup, followed by pear and almond tart and black forest meringue. Definitely worth a visit.

It was a pleasure to dine in the place, the atmosphere is unique, the food delicious, the staff friendly to all ages. Special mention to the best and cleanest bathroom!

Incredible place😍 The cafè and the restaurant's staff is absolutely amazing. The menù gives you the most amazing experience you've ever had in a garden centre. The green and white colour around you is incredibly relaxing. It can happens that there is a long queue of people waiting to be seated. It also can happens that someone ignores the queue and jump right into the cafè pretending to be seated or some other pretends a table when the staff is cleaning up before closing. It's up to us as customers to respect the rule of the house and the people doing their job.

It’s a really nice garden center at Malahide, it’s aesthetically pleasing and has many varieties of plants and plant supplies. There’s an in-house cafe which serves great food. It’s got one vegan option in the menu, but the presentation was pretty and food was delicious

The food wasn't great. I got an open ham sandwich. I presumed that it would be big and filling. It was lovely and tasty, but it needed to have a slightly bigger portion. The lettuce on the sandwich was half dead. They sell lettuce in the vegetable section. The plant selection was wonderful. They also had a nice selection of jewellery gifts. I will go back but I will not go hungry again 4

Never again .!!! 2 hours 20 min before closing you are not allow to have seating inside as they prepare to close ? We often visited here and even arranged to meet friends regularly, but after today I will never go back. I came with my daughter to celebrate a special occasion — and asked for a table inside the restaurant (not in the garden centre section) more than 2 hours before closing time. I was told we couldn’t sit inside because staff were “closing down sections” for cleaning, despite the café not closing until 5:30. I had friends already seated inside, yet I was refused. I explained to the manager that the outside chairs are not suitable if you’re on the larger side, I also get badly bitten by insects — things I should never have had to justify or explain just to sit at a table. Instead of being welcoming, I was left feeling humiliated. And staff were complacent about our experience. The manager did eventually say we could sit inside, but only after I made it clear I would complain. By that stage the experience was already ruined. We left without staying. What should have been a happy celebration became a very disappointing and upsetting experience. The lack of consideration and customer care was unacceptable, and sadly this was the last time we will ever visit. I am not likely to email the complaint because the culture was very obvious and we wont be retuning anyway.

Scotch Bonnet Grill House & Pizza Bar is conveniently located near the Malahide Dart Station, offering a fusion of traditional and modern cuisine. Their menu features a variety of options, from Baby Back Ribs to Angus Beef burgers, with Louisiana style chicken wings being a standout dish according to many patrons. The restaurant caters to both intimate meals and larger groups, making it suitable for various occasions.
A perfect place to catch up with a couple of friends over a delicious meal and nice wine. We visited on Wednesday evening and it was quite busy. We still were very well looked after, very welcoming service. I do not often order burgers when dining out. This one was by far the best. The combination of toppings, sauces and chicken on a light bun was perfect. My friends had steak and broccoli on the side and absolutely loved it as well. We ll be coming back to treat my family.

Perfect in every way! Very friendly service. The food was just what we were looking for and catered to everyone in the family. Great options for children not just the standard nuggets and chips. I will definitely be returning next time we visit Malahide 😁

Couldn’t recommend the Scotch Bonnet enough. We were out the door 5 minutes and already planning our next visit! The staff were amazing, friendly and attentive and the food was equally as good! Cocktails were delicious and came quickly, despite the fact we ordered a few different drinks. Overall a great experience and we can’t wait to come back 🙌🏻

We visited for dinner one Sunday recently because gluten free options are available. The food was very good and the waitress was knowledgeable about gluten free options. The restaurant is in a nice location and has a nice vibe. It's popular with families, so early Sunday evening isn't the time to eat there if you want a quiet meal, but otherwise, I'd recommend. It is nice to find restaurants that can accommodate diners with gluten free requirements.

The service was very polite and fast. We ordered two dishes to share and two main courses — everything was truly EXCELLENT. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in Malahide. I’m not giving the full rating only because we had to sit outside even though the weather wasn’t great, as we had our dog with us (something quite absurd but common here in Ireland). However, they were really kind and brought a bowl of water for the dog.

Got takeout from here on my last night in Ireland! Was delish/ and I got a bottle of hot sauce which I loved - couldn’t bring back to Canada since I had opened there and didn’t want to smash in my luggage but the place was super nice - everyone working their super friendly. I would highly recommend going for the great food and good atmosphere!

Very nice place to eat or have a drink. The service is fast, the food is tasty, and the bar is quite large with outdoor seating, plus a terrace with even more tables. The atmosphere is very pleasant, and they are pet-friendly. One thing they could improve, though, is that the waiters tend to try to take your plate away too quickly, even if you haven’t finished eating yet.

Been here a good bit after work it’s very hit or miss, one of the bartenders in particular can’t pour Guinness to save his life. Today I ordered a pint and got a dirty glass and my second pint was ordered and handed to me all within 1 minute no time for it to set or anything previously also I got the steak and it was the worse cut of meat I’ve ever had and for 30 euro I expected a lot a lot better
Leo M — Google review
My first time here and it was a mixed experience. The food came out pretty quick but the quality of the food for what you are being charged isn’t great. The fish that I got as part of the fish and chips was excellent but the chips were straight out of a packet. I paid almost €17 for this. A good example of rip-off Ireland was that I was charged around €4 for a glass not a pint a glass of blackcurrant cordial. My daughter is 5 and I was in the position that if I said I’ll leave it, the child would have become very upset after the long day we had. Would I go back, no as it’s far too expensive. For my daughter and I to have: Fish and chips, Kids portion of sausage and chips, Glass of blackcurrant cordial, Pint of Smithwicks. €35.10

Great staff and everything came quickly. The kitchen closes at 7p but they still accommodated us at 645p. My stew was the best meal I had while in Ireland, almost as good as my mother makes. The cake wasn't my favorite, but it hits the sweet tooth (this is still a pub after all).

Dreadful food, totally untrained staff. Vegetables tasted like the freezer's 40 yo shelf ice. The Yorkshire puddings were so soggy and old tasting we couldn't finish them. The deserts were also microwaved warm and tested old. The ice cream tasted once again like freezer ice. No food served on the outdoor seating at all.

Found it was three minutes from the station and I really wanted fish. Delicious, good music, not too loud. Good service and light batter on the fish and chips with skin and curved.. feel nourished. What a great seafood dining place in this beautiful town by the sea! Casual yet festival. Well decorated for family or group. Got kids menu. The mussels (starter) were to die for!! Sooo sweet & delicious! We had to order a second bucket after the first! The catch special of the day was grilled Megrim Sole. Very tasty! I also liked their seafood medley in fish & tomato stock too! Their chips (fries) were made with fresh potatoes that had a distinctive yumminess to it, which reminds me of Peru’s. Very different than other chips I had. All in all our group of 6 adults & 4 kids really enjoyed our dinner!! Service was great & friendly. The only bone I had to pick was that the rosé wine was not pre-chilled. I had to wait til my entreé had arrived before it was probably chilled. Perhaps I should have gone for their house branded draft beer ;) Yes they have their own house brewed (not on premise) draft beer on taps. 4 different beer. They have a great patio area where ones can seat, have a beer, and chill.

Had a quick lunch tried the fish Tacos and Cajun Scampi. The tacos are corn tortillas which was impressive not a lot of places make it the authentic way, for the price I personally would want a bit more fish but in saying that it is just a starter. The fish batter was crispy and the fish itself was fresh. The Cajun Scampi was mind-blowing, the best I've ever had. It's such a a great experience overall and I can imagine in the evenings it's even better atmosphere 😍🔥

Myself and my wife had the best brunch we’ve ever had. Gorgeous coffee, super fresh orange juice. The eggs on our Benedict and Royale were spot on. I have been here twice and have had a very good experience. This place is right amidst the busy street and hence very accessible. The menu is varied and there are lots to choose from. Tried the 3 egg omelette which was delicious, although better when I had it for the first time. Loved the pancakes. Grilled chicken cibata is one of my favorites now. Food is amazing and comes in ample quantity. The service experience was good on my first visit however felt a little off on my second visit but still on the far better sides. Recommended for early breakfast and brunch with friends and family.

We often go to 'Cafe Provence' for brunch and have loved it there every time. The food is absolutely delicious and we can genuinely say that about every single thing we tried off their 'Specials' menu. Their desserts are also very fresh delicious. The service is literally second to none with us never having to wait for anything too long. Having worked as a waiter myself, ai can say that the service is of top notch for what the place is. We will keep coming back as it is definitely worth a drive from Rush.

While the helping of "Epic French Toast" was fairly generous with three slices, the ten small slices of banana was too small. At about 30 cent for a banana, and €1 extra charged for it, why not throw loads on if someone goes to the trouble of asking for it?! And the syrup is the Lyle's Maple FLAVOURED syrup, not real maple syrup. They save a few cent but the flavoured stuff is nowhere near the real thing. Come on Cafe Provenance .... stop cutting big corners for small savings .... it gets noticed.

Al Fresco in Malahide, Dublin is a must-visit gem. Despite the bustling atmosphere due to a nearby concert, the staff warmly welcomed visitors without reservations. The server, Tony, provided exceptional guidance through the menu and made great recommendations. The food was delicious and the staff courteous. One visitor even had a special spicy sauce prepared for their chicken wings upon request.
We had burrata and garlic bread for starters, and pizza, seafood spaghetti and ravioli for mains. Everything was amazingly good. The service was super friendly and very attentive at all times. We recommend it 100%, we will be back.

Nice atmosphere and good Italian food—nothing over the top, but enjoyable. Prices are a bit high, though expected for the location. Service was excellent and very welcoming, definitely the highlight of the evening. Only downside was being charged €3 per bottle for filtered water without being asked—two bottles were brought out and barely touched. Still, a good experience overall. Thanks to the staff for the warm service!

Every detail was amazing. The staff was so kind and attentive (to us but also the kids). The food was amazing and the quality of the ingredients was impeccable. We were absolutely blown away with how delicious and enjoyable the meal was. Thank you all so, so much! For starters between our group we had bruschetta (tomatoes were incredibly fresh), mussels (beautiful sauce) and pesto pasta with prawns (delicious) and our mains were chicken (perfectly cooked), vegetable pasta (the sauce was so, so fresh) and seafood pasta (perfect seafood to pasta ratio). Desserts were legitimately homemade and divine!!

I never leave bad reviews for restaurants but the food here was so disgusting I couldn’t not.. we walked in and the staff were lovely, I can’t fault them at all. We ordered “focaccia” which was just a plain pizza base with garlic pieces on it…My partner ordered the carbonara and it was full of oil and very stodgy, honestly just disgusting… I don’t write any of this lightly but honestly please avoid this place at all costs.

This is a nice little Italian restaurant in Malahide, but the food is just so-so and the service isn't that good..... The staff are really nice, don't get me wrong, but they take a long time to come to you. The restaurant is quite cold a lot of the time.... We've been there about 4 times already and most of the time, I'm quite cold there. Whenever one of the waiters open the door to let someone in, you can really feel the cold. The food isn't that great, my Spaghetti Bolognese was too tomato-y for my liking..... it was ok; and my fiancée had Seafood pasta, she liked it, but thought that it was too sauce-y.

Seabank Bistro, located on the Coast Road, is a cozy and excellent dining spot in Dublin. The restaurant is known for its top-quality seafood, with dishes like crab claws and sole receiving high praise. The atmosphere is welcoming, and the staff are friendly and attentive. The menu offers a variety of options, including a shared seafood platter with oysters and garlic butter lobster. While it can get busy at times, the overall experience is delightful.
This is a fine dining seafood experience and all I can say simply is this. It's the best fine dining seafood I have ever had and with a good white wine selection, divine. Had shared seafood platter with extra oysters and garlic butter lobster. Excellent and melted in my mouth. Service was friendly, helpful and guided. It wasn't too busy thankfully and this is why I havegiv3 atmosphere a 4, as I think it could feel a little cramped if busy.

Dining at Seabank Bistro in Malahide was an absolute delight from start to finish. Tucked away in one of Ireland’s most charming coastal towns, this bistro is a true hidden gem for seafood lovers. The menu celebrates the ocean in the most tasteful way — fresh, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. I tried the prawns to start . For the main course, the lobster and chef’s linguine with seafood , and beautifully complemented by a medley of seasonal vegetables and a light lemon butter sauce. What truly sets Seabank apart is the atmosphere. With cozy interiors, soft lighting, and a view of the harbour, it’s the ideal setting for both a romantic evening and a relaxed gathering with friends. The staff were exceptional — knowledgeable, warm, and genuinely passionate about the food and service. Seabank Bistro doesn’t just serve seafood — it serves memories. A must-visit if you’re in Malahide or anywhere nearby.

Lovely restaurant on the sea front. Very relaxed interior and friendly staff. They have a short menu, however the best menu is written on the wall as specials. We had the seafood platter to share followed by lobster also sharing. The food was delicious and service with a smile. We ordered wine and an extra glass at the end. We will definitely return to taste some of the other delicious fare. Merci ..

Our second visit here, took ages to get a booking as it's so popular! It was just as good as the first time! A little expensive but worth it. I'm not actually a fan of seafood but my husband is and said his prawn starter and Dover sole mains were amazing. I had a beef stir fry starter and fillet steak for mains, both excellent. Disgraceful “service”, I wanted to buy food but takeaway they said no they don’t do takeaway. That’s fine, after that I said can I just use the bathroom please they said I cannot it’s only for customers. I said that’s fine, I can buy something, a drink or whatever and they said NO!! They can’t only for customers with food. What world do you live in??? Id never return even to have food in a place like this!! The first waiter giving me looks up and down just because I wasn’t probably dressed appropriately for him, in regular shorts and t shirt coming from the beach!!! Avoid, because if there’s no humility in such a place, the food really doesn’t matter! Disgusting behaviour and you should be ashamed of yourself. Literally didn’t want to sell me any drink because I was not going to have any food. Get over yourselves! Ew!!!

Beaches
Malahide Beach is a beloved natural retreat in Dublin, offering a perfect blend of tranquility and scenic beauty. The 4km Coastal Route from the beach to Portmarnock takes you past Velvet Strand and Martello towers, with the option to head inland for the Robswall Park Hillside Hike. Nestled between Malahide's green landscapes and the Irish Sea, this stretch of golden coastline provides a sense of calm with its soft sands and gentle sea breeze.
Beautiful sandy beach about 15km outside central Dublin. Free car park just off the beach, very quiet on weekdays with wonderful views of the Dublin coast. Malahide village is just a few minutes drive away with a good selection of restaurants, cafes and ice cream parlours. Very highly recommend visiting if you are in the Dublin area this summer.

Malahide Beach is a truly beautiful spot, located just a short walk from Malahide Village. The beach is wide and open, with impressive tides that create large stretches of sand during low tide and a completely different atmosphere at high tide. This constant change makes every visit feel unique. There is plenty of space, making it ideal for families with children, long walks, or simply relaxing by the sea. Nature lovers will also appreciate the opportunity to watch birds and enjoy the peaceful surroundings. The beach is well-kept, and having public toilets nearby adds to the convenience for visitors. Overall, Malahide Beach combines natural beauty with accessibility, making it one of the best places for a day out by the sea.

Beautiful place to go for a walk or a day out. It's so nice in the summer and winter. I love the scenery and the little village of shops on the way to the beach.
Lou L — Google review
An exceptional beach and one of Dublin’s true gems! Malahide Beach offers a perfect mix of natural beauty, peaceful walks, and fresh sea air. The sand is soft and clean, the views stretch endlessly across the Irish Sea, and the sunsets are nothing short of breathtaking. It’s ideal for families, couples, dog walkers, or anyone looking to unwind and take in the coastal charm. There’s plenty of parking nearby, and the walk into Malahide village adds to the experience — great cafés, ice cream spots, and pubs for a bite or a pint after the stroll. The beach is also spotless, well maintained, and never feels overcrowded even on sunny days. A truly exceptional place to relax, recharge, and appreciate Ireland’s coastline at its best. Highly recommended! 🌊🇮🇪
Charlie J — Google review
Malahide beach truly is a gem, offering a wonderfully clean and tidy environment that immediately puts you at ease. The sheer width of the sandy expanse is impressive, providing ample space even on busier days, and there are numerous designated spots perfect for a refreshing swim. What truly sets this beach apart for swimmers are the remarkably calm waves. There’s no battling against rough surf here; instead, you can simply relax and enjoy a serene dip in the clear waters, making it ideal for families and those who prefer a tranquil swim. However, a slight blemish on an otherwise perfect picture was the presence of some floating moss, which was a little disheartening to see. Furthermore, a significant challenge for visitors is the parking situation. Finding a spot proved incredibly difficult, leading to a frustrating 15-minute wait just to exit the parking lot due to lack of space. On-street parking was equally scarce. My strong advice for anyone planning a visit would be to opt for public transport, like a bus or taxi, or be prepared for a very, very long walk after parking a considerable distance away. Despite the parking woes and the minor moss issue, the beach's overall beauty and swimming conditions make it a highly recommended spot.

Tapas restaurant
The Greedy Goose is a cozy restaurant in Malahide with a refined interior that offers tapas-style dishes and tasting menus. It's known for its delicious Clogherhead crab claws cooked in garlic & lemon, served with chive crushed potatoes, and crispy shoestring fries. The menu features fresh local ingredients prepared in various ways, such as seared Kilmore Quay scallops with crispy pork belly croquettes and garlic, honey and chilli-glazed chicken wings.
Gorgeous food especially the goats cheese, haddock tempura and the surf n turf. Excellent friendly efficient helpful staff, who know their job very well. And the best French Martinis - not on the menu but ask nicely..
Clodagh L — Google review
Pleasant experience overall. The food was genuinely tasty. Each dish had wonderful flavors, and I’d definitely consider returning. However, there were a couple of drawbacks. Being seated at a smaller table, we found the intervals between the three dishes we ordered to be too long, which made the dining experience feel slightly inconvenient. Additionally, while most of the food was delicious, the lamb pie was unfortunately a bit dry and didn’t quite meet the standard of the other dishes. Despite these points, I enjoyed the meal and am open to giving it another try!

Fabulous food, really generous portions for Tapas. Great value, lovely staff and lovely setting. Will definitely be back, I want to try everything on the menu 😜👌

I've been traveling in Italy and around Ireland the past 3 weeks. I can EASILY say this was the BEST meal we had the entire time. Every dish was superb but especially the "from the sea" options. Service was timely and were extremely helpful. It's obvious they have a good work environment:) I was with 2 others so we tried 9 dishes. Definitely recommend going as a group so you can try even more things!! Amazing.

From the moment we arrived, at the restaurant we felt so welcome. The staff were incredibly friendly and genuinely caring, making sure everything was perfect throughout our visit. The food was absolutely delicious and beautifully presented. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, with an ambience that made the dining experience a real pleasure. A wonderful experience from start to finish, can’t wait to come back. Definitely deserves a 5 ⭐️ rating.

This place is top notch. First off, they made a exceptional accommodation for myself and my 2 young children by sitting us in a 2 top table with a booth when there was no where else to sit. They have amazing food options and everything we had was great. What was the best part of our experience was that the staff was over the top kind to my children The waitress and host brought over ice cream for them as a reward for, in their opinion, great behavior! And then gave them suckers on our way out. I can't say enough good things about this place and was incredibly delighted at the extra attention and treatment we received. I will certainly be visiting again when I am able to visit again. Thank you again for everything!

Nice cozy place to have a great selection of tapas. Food here was great, you can choose 3 items from menu A or B ;). I went for B I got mussels, the slider and the calamari. The portion sizes are quite generous for tapas. The staff here are lovely and very accommodating. We came here for a birthday and had a great time. The sticky toffee pudding was amazing too.

This place has been changed and upgraded over the years. Popular place for everyone if you want to gamble or play pool or snooker with a friend. It doesn't sell alcohol but snacks and fizzy drinks..

2 snooker tables and various pool tables. Alittle bit pricey for Snooker at €14 per hour but otherwise clean and tidy environment to relax over afew frames.

€12 an hour for snooker. Beer on display but not for sale. Bizarrely, they were simultaneously playing the worst music ever from two different places. I heard Des'ree - Life, Bros -- I Owe You Nothing and then Rasputin by Boney M three times in a row. Once, as Brown Girl in the Ring was fading out we could hear "We are the World". Try the Classic in Finglas. €7 p/hr and silence.

Recently stopped in for a spot of brunch and couldn’t recommend enough! Staff were super friendly and service was so quick! French toast with bacon and maple syrup was great but my eyes were bigger than my belly and couldn’t finish it all, server kindly recommend that I order the smaller kids portion the next time I visit. Looking forward to another visit soon!

That's Amore in Malahide is a delightful gem for those seeking genuine Italian flavors. As soon as you step inside, you're whisked away to a charming trattoria reminiscent of Italy, complete with an intimate and welcoming ambiance. The decor adds to the cozy vibe, making it an ideal spot for enjoying a meal with friends or loved ones. Renowned for its exceptional pizzas, That's Amore offers a variety of toppings that come fresh from the oven on perfectly crispy bases.
Food was delicious and Ricardo was wonderful as well. The only problem is that they have two of their tables for two right next to the toilet which kills the mood but Ricardo was nice enough to switch us to the best table they have (table no 1). So my advice would be to go in a group of 4 or ask specifically not to book you near the toilet ;)

Great pasta and pizza, remarkable service. I couldn’t count how many shrimps were on my pasta it’s amazing. It’s a small restaurant and gets busy during peak hours. Make sure to book your reservation. We parked in the nearby Supervalu for €1.20 per hour.

Very kind and friendly staff. Dogs welcome outside. Child friendly. Great atmosphere with a distinct Italian feel. The Carbonara was easily one of the best I had to date and all those with me were equally impressed with the food. Desserts were homemade and quite good. The only feedback I have is to try to tidy up the side alley where the outdoor seating is as its a bit shabby, including litter on the ground. A minor grip and we are looking forward.to coming back again. Soon.

So... we were walking around malahide and decided to have a look at their daily specials board, it seemed charming so we got in. The service was prompt and the Italian young gentleman was fast and efficient! The food came and it was surprisingly big per portion! We got that Wednesday deal, which was great! Couldn't even finish so got s box to go. The pizza was better than many many places in Italy! And I'm a pilot and was based in Italy for months! Worth mentioning that the young irish lady also serving was lovely and polite. The restaurant had that family homemade vibe! Simple and charming! Plenty of tables! Even the people inside seemed educated as a piece of my clothing fell and someone gently told me about it. Will come back for different dishes.. good job guys! Keep it up.

We had a beautiful family birthday lunch today in That’s Amore. Our family always chooses this special restaurant when we celebrate. We were treated with such a great kindness, and each person loved their choice of food and drink ❤️ Ricardo, was professional, smiling, and attentive, to each of us, using light humour when appropriate., adding a lightness to our meal. I’m sorry I did not get the young waitress’s name, but she was equally friendly and helpful. Thank you to both of them for a truly special Sunday afternoon. Rose 🌹

We booked but there was really no need the restaurant was empty. The halloumi you see in the picture was €8 (for two slices) the lamb kebab tasted bad and like rubber the rice was crispy and seemed a few days old. Service was OK but overall a pretty bad culinary experience. Won't be returning sadly especially as there are so many great other options in malahide.

This is such a beautiful, spring-vibe brunch spot! I really love it here! The place has indoor and outdoor seats and every corner is a feast for the eyes. The food is really good and fresh! We had quesadilla, chicken burger, sweet potato fries, french toast with banana, blueberries and pecan, pancakes with bacon and coffee. •The quesadilla was really perfect and ingredients were fresh! •The sweet potato fries was bomb!! The best sweet potato fries we had here in dublin!! •You’ll definitely love the french toast here - crispy in the outside but soft in the inside, the right amount of sweet, and very filling! so good!
