Every year during spring time, the castle offers a few medieval festivals. We visited the witchfest/Hexenfest. One can actually buy ticket earlier and safe abt EUR2, or buy on the spot. The parking costed EUR3. We had to walk about 10 mins to the castle. The walkway was not babystroller friendly. The atmostphere could have been more 'witchy'. There were many stalls selling food and merchandise. There was also owl and hawk on exhibit for petting.

The main reason I visit castles is for the architecture and feel of them anyway, so I enjoyed my short stroll around. So it must worth it when the activities are on! There is an open air museum nearby so you could easily visit the castle and the museum in a day if you don't spent all day at either, which is what I did and recommend.

We have been there for middle age festival once and the organization was pretty successful. Kids enjoyed it a lot and for me the no 1 reason is flammlachs and the take away food you may only find in these kind of festivals. As well the service was pretty bad, we saw everyone getting their food before us even tho it was very simple dishes. Wouldn’t recommend, if you’re visiting the museum just wait until you can eat outside someplace else
