Park
Dreamland Margate is a vintage-style arcade featuring old pinball machines, fairground artifacts, and a small cinema. Located in the traditional seaside town of Margate, it originally opened in 1880 and underwent a major £25 million investment three years ago. The park now boasts new rides, a food court and bar, as well as a music venue with a 15,000 capacity.
Really loved the afternoon there. £40 for 20 tokens, best buy. Every ride is 1 token. On some rides if the child requires an adult its still 1 token, which we thought was really good. I really do wish they would reopen the scenic railway though.
Jane F — Google review
Bustling with youngsters, the Dreamland park is a wondeful gateway to enjoy a wild day outside in summer. We visited for the very first time and had a wonderful time riding the roller coaster, pirate bay and water ride. There are attracting offers in terms of tokens. Brought back childhood memories in the rides. The scenic railway is temporarily closed now which is one of the oldest roller coaster rides in UK. Would recommend anyone to visit this place visiting Margate this summer. 😊
Khandker Q — Google review
Nice vibe for a weekend. We went in to get away from the rain and was pleasantly surprised. Loads of stuff to do for the kids. There is lots of funfair rides, a roller disco, an arcade and lots of places to eat.The arcade could be a little more well maintained. All the staff are friendly and helpful.
Nando S — Google review
Fantastic great concert festival. Had VIP platform area so it was great view seeing top artists perform. How ever it is standing venue. This is suitable for all people. Carpark at back entrance. Had private toilets and bar on vip platform
Nicola S — Google review
Rides are lovingly kept and the operators make it fun. Facilities are clean as is the park. Yes the tokens are expensive and it can rack up if you have more than one person on the rides, but it's an experience, it's nostalgia driven and it's wholly Margate. Love it.
John K — Google review
Have only been to Dreamland for live music so can only comment on that side of things! A brilliant venue, husband and I love it! Saw manic Street Preachers/Suede in July last year and Scooter this evening. Fantastic atmosphere, clean loos, not ridiculous prices at the bar. Couldn’t ask for more! The vintage vibe is great, and it’s a nice walk from the car park to the venue. Friendly staff too. Great selection of food. Would deffo recommend Dreamland for a great live music experience. There is a really old and grotty looking multi-storey behind it which I have parked in both times with absolutely no issues. On the website now to see what else I can book!
Laura L — Google review
Fab outdoor music venue with some great performances. The atmosphere is just amazing. I look forward to what next year has to offer. Removed one star for the rave events. I don't feel this venue is adequate for raves.
Melissa K — Google review
Morning grandson had an amazing time here. Great rides, especially the water chute and roller coaster, no queues and the staff were great! £24.95 for a wristband was a really good deal to be able to go on any of the rides all day

Wedding venue
Turner Contemporary is a striking international art gallery located in Kent, offering dramatic spaces to showcase the works of JMW Turner and contemporary artists. The modern building provides stunning sea views, making it an ideal venue for weddings. Visitors can enjoy rotating modern exhibitions, including pieces by renowned artists like Grayson Perry and Carlos Amorales. Situated at the site where Turner once stayed, the gallery celebrates his connection to Margate and forms part of the town's lively art scene.
It’s absolutely amazing to me as in experience. Each room of the gallery is managed and arranged nicely according to the growth of time. Each picture captured not the objects but also (in my opinion) the emotions of the people in specific, and the changes of the periods in general. Can’t believe it’s closed not long after my visit but hopefully it can be opened again soon. And please do donation if you’re happy, this place deserves it.
Cam C — Google review
Dropped by Turner Contemporary during a day trip beach day to Margate and really enjoyed it. It’s free, super clean, and well looked after. I only had a quick wander before closing but it was still a really nice visit. Being right by the water is an added bonus. Worth checking out if you’re in Margate!
SJ — Google review
We spent a lovely couple of hours wandering through the galleries. All very well curated. Great for school groups. No entrance fee. Just donations requested. Small but interesting gift shop with pottery that reflects Turners key work.
Jill — Google review
I am always excited to see what's going to be on display next. The presentation is always top class with such attention to details. My daughter and I are frequent visitors.
Nicole G — Google review
It's free so always worth popping in if you're in Margate anyway. Quite surprised and a bit disappointed that there is literally just the one lonely Turner there. The other exhibits were a mixed bag really, two beautiful sculptures as you enter but the rest were bafflingly naive. Personal taste of course with any exhibition.
Tanis S — Google review
Always enjoy visiting the Turner no matter what the exhibition. It’s light, airy, has a great gift shop and cafe, entertainment for kids and decent toilets. We could easily spend a day here when the kids were small but now they are older it tends to be a couple of hours.
Claire H — Google review
Super spot, convenient and plentiful parking, easy access to the gallery. Well worth a visit just to experience this amazing space…. which is just as well as the current exhibit (Anna Boghiguian) looked like it had been produced by a class of 6 year olds… which any self respecting 6 year old might even take umbrage with.
Glenn L — Google review
Hi all just been to the turner exhibition only one painting by him which we found unusual in the turner center lol The shell girl was good and the paintings and pictures buy the kids and teenagers of the area where good the sunken ship couldn't get my head around the chess piece where ok and the undersea world was ok .

The Shell Grotto in Margate is a fascinating and mysterious underground cave adorned with 4.6 million shells, including cockle, whelk, mussel, and oyster shells. Discovered by chance in 1835, its origins remain unknown, giving rise to various theories about its purpose - from being a Masonic Temple to a secret meeting place or even a hiding spot.
What a wonderful place. I think that this place deserves more visibility to the tourists than it has got at the moment. The place is truly the work of someone with a fine artist mind and a lot of patience and dedication. It is beautifully done. Thankfully it is now preserved well so the general public can enjoy the lovely artistic work.
Vijay J — Google review
The Shell Grotto is definitely a unique and interesting place to visit - I just wish it was a little bigger/there was a little more to see. Fascinating series of passages and small rooms beautifully decorated with shells. And how and why it was done is still a mystery. I enjoyed reading all the history and info. Recommend. Only a 10/15 min walk from the old town (and we also saw a lovely Tudor house).
Steve W — Google review
Visited the Shell Grotto and really enjoyed it. The staff were very friendly. And there's a nice selection of items you can buy in the shop. Definitely worth seeing. It was quite busy when we went in Sunday, but you can explore it in about 15 min. A short but very interesting experience.
Dineshika S — Google review
Interesting place to visit and cheap activity. It takes approx 10 mins to walk around you can make it longer if you really want to inspect the design. But it is very small so if you area bit wary of tight spaces be aware this may not be for you. They have some interesting facts before you head down to the grotto. The team are friendly and the gift shop is lovely if a bit small when there are lots of people. Definitely worth a visit
Gill G — Google review
Much smaller than expected but still very interesting with a little bit of history and alot of skill. I feel the entry price is far too expensive for something that took me 5 minutes to walk around, but for someone particularly interested in the artwork and fancy something different to look at, its still good. The gift shop is a must see as has plenty of gorgeous seashells and a few other pretty items for sale. No toilets or parking, if your lucky you can find free street parking nearby.
Grace P — Google review
Visiting the Shell Grotto was an unforgettable experience. The moment I stepped inside, I couldn’t believe my eyes — every surface is covered in intricate patterns made entirely from seashells. It’s both mysterious and magical, and truly unlike anything I’ve ever seen before. This is absolutely a must-see destination for anyone. After exploring the grotto, I enjoyed browsing the charming gift shop, which offers a wonderful selection of seashells and other unique treasures to take home as souvenirs.
Ertuğrul A — Google review
Stunning place decorated with many shells. Definitely worth a visit. There is also a shop to buy all sorts of small things. Not far, 3-4 minutes walk, there's a carpark with a pound stretcher, there the parking is free for two hours.

Broadstairs

Broadstairs, a charming coastal town located on the Isle of Thanet in east Kent, England, is known for its inviting golden sand beaches and historic high street with independent shops. The town's seven bays offer a perfect seaside escape, attracting visitors since the 19th century when steam power and railways made it accessible to Londoners. Notably, Charles Dickens found inspiration in Broadstairs for some of his most famous works while holidaying at Bleak House overlooking Viking Bay.

Restaurant/Cafe Really awful meal. My wife had sausages were really burnt see pics attached. She could taste the burnt offerings in her mouth. Mash really yellow and didn't taste very nice. Won't be going back again or recommend to anyone. Felt really disappointed. Also she had a milkshake which was too sweet and couldn't hold the glass as it was dripping with sticky syrup all down the sides.
James K — Google review
Lovely quality gammon ham, perfectly cooked eggs, simple dish properly executed, lovely baked potato for my wife.
Dave A — Google review
It was a rainy day so wife and I decided on a cup of tea. Then the menu got the better of us, we had a club sandwich and triple cheese toasty. Both came with complementary salad and crisps. Always good when you get the side dish included. Both were perfectly cooked and tasty, wechad half of each others dishes. Really nice food and spot on tea and mocha to drink. Very good value at around nine pound a dish. We really recommend coming here for a bite to eat. We def come back again. Also the staff were lovely and friendly and let us know the specials.

The Spitfire & Hurricane Memorial Museum in Sandwich is a small but comprehensive aviation museum that showcases historic planes from World War II and features a variety of memorabilia. The exhibition space was renovated in 2017 to accommodate a replica of the Great museum, housing a Spitfire and a Hurricane in two spacious halls. The museum is well-organized and managed by friendly and knowledgeable volunteers, offering free parking for visitors.
This is an awesome free entrance museum with some great history. The virtual reality flight simulator is a bit pricey but looked like it could be fun. Kids do need to be monitored though as they do not allow anyone to touch the planes.

An amazing little Museum... well worth the stop on a brake i had to take. Staff was very helpful and friendly.... 💯 recommend
Adrian P — Google review
Great little place that holds a lot of history. There's two well-filled rooms large enough to house a Spitfire in one and a Hurricane in the other. Loads of extra militaria and information dotted around as well and lots of model aircraft and pictures & images to help show moments of the war. Would highly recommend - it's free to get in, but a donation always helps.
Dave S — Google review
Lovely historical exhibition. Very nice and didn't cost a penny. Couldn't ask for much more and the staff where friendly.
Oliver K — Google review
Great little Museum, full of interesting information about the first and second world wars and the aircraft and personnel. It's free to get in, but a donation would be a lovely gesture. Lovely cafe and outside seating area. Free parking too.
Elaine R — Google review
We didn't stop here long, a mere 20mins in the way back home from a long weekend stay nearby. However this free museum was loaded with knowledge and the planes were clearly very cared for and looked great.
Emily T — Google review
Came across a sign for this as we were heading somewhere else so on the way back thought to go have a look. This is a small museum with a Hurricane and a Spitfire as the main exhibits in 2 large rooms. There is also a cockpit from a Spitfire showing the layout inside and the front portion of the fuselage from a Lancaster bomber. I found the latter 2 exhibits of particular interest as they really made me appreciate just how cramped these were for those aviators brave enough to crew them. Around the sides of the main exhibits are loads of model aircraft and memorabilia from WW2 so although small it contains a lot to look at. There is a gift area with models, books and such like related to aviation. It is free to get in, has a decent sized carpark and is completely accessible, even for someone on a large mobility scooter like mine, and the staff are really friendly so I would definitely recommend you visit if like me you appreciate WW2 aircraft.

The RAF Manston History Museum is a captivating destination that showcases the rich history of the airfield from its inception in 1916 to its closure in 1996. This museum features an impressive array of exhibits, highlighting military and civilian aviation artifacts spanning from World War I through modern search and rescue operations. Visitors can explore well-maintained displays, including iconic aircraft like the Gloster Meteor and Canberra, while also enjoying anecdotes about significant events tied to the airfield's past.
This place is right on our doorstep and have never visited before. If you are visiting Kent can highly recommend a visit. Nice museum covering the former airbase during the war and after the war when commercial flights used Manston. Bonus has a nice cafe attached to the museum.

A fantastic museum with a really interesting layout, a whole range and massive wealth of information here about aircraft, world war 2, and the airfield's history. There's a range of aircraft a lot of which with steps to see inside them or cockpits. Sadly didn't stay long but found a lot of interesting facts and enjoyed looking round the museum.
Emily T — Google review
What a great eclectic place to visit including a comprehensive gift shop with Airfix models. There was a large selection of aircraft and helicopters on display including bi planes and jet aircraft from both world wars. Among these was a Gloucester Meteor and many others. I particularly enjoyed the 1940 room sets they were fascinating as were numerous model lay outs of the aerodrome during world war 11. Certain exhibits can be visited one example comprising of the Valiant cockpit. Additionally there was loads of memorabilia on display. Everything is slightly naive which gives the museum its. charm and its unpretentious. A doodlebug V1 welcomes you on arrival. There is also a Spitfire and Hurricane exhibit. close by with free entry. I think the main exhibit at Marston was approx £6 a head.
Richard J — Google review
This was a lovely museum. Well worth the small cost to get in. The planes on display were really good and they even had a section dedicated to wartime setup with wartime houses and air raid shelter. Excellent experience and is fully wheelchair accessible.

Manston Golf Centre is a fantastic destination for golf enthusiasts and families alike, offering a diverse range of activities. The centerpiece is the Greensole Golf Course, featuring a 9-hole Par 33 layout that includes six par 4s and three par 3s, with water hazards adding an extra challenge on three holes.
My sister booked a session on Wednesday 16 October 2024 at 13:50 for me and my 7 year old autistic nephew to play crazy golf. On arrival the young lad who was working at the kiosk noticed that my nephew had ear defenders on and asked if we would like the sound effects turned off to which we obliged. Going on to the 7th hole my nephew became very scared of the dinosaur statues and had a bad episode, we had to leave. On leaving the young lad handed my nephew a fruit pastilles ice lolly which immediately calmed him down. I am writing to you so that this young legend of a lad be acknowledged by his peers as a great professional and to be honest, you do not see young people these days with the empathy and compassion that he showed us on that day.

Staff were excellent, facilities were good, reasonable cafe and bar. The driving range has top tracer which works well, and if you've never been - is a lot of fun. The mini golf has to be one of the best I've been to in the UK. And all in all, presents excellent value for money!

Had my Monthly lesson with Jude today, which was well overdue, helped me get my swing back I shape after not playing much golf or having time to practice, I have left in a much better place than when I started and have some training tips to take away and work on, without having too much to think about. Top lesson and highly recommended for anyone that is looking g to improve their game.

Had a full bag fitting with Gavin. Couldn't recommend more. Great facility and clearly very knowledgeable about what he does. I already had decent clubs going into the fitting and wanted to see what newer clubs were available. Gavin was excellent, he gave me an honest and completely unbiased opinion about new clubs against my current ones, which made me feel much more at ease that he wasn't just trying to sell anything too me. If you're wondering where and who to have your fitting with, Gavin is your man!

I got an iron set fitting from Keely today, couldn't have been more delighted. Right from the off she had a really approachable and fun attitude, alleviating any fitting anxiety that your swing/general golfing ability will desert you. I felt the fitting covered all bases; budget, amount you'll play, brands, shaft weights, lie angles, grips and club lengths. It was thoroughly impressive how in depth she went, explaining every step in layman's terms (stooping to my dreadful golf knowledge) and making me feel heard at every stage. We went through various brands with various shafts, mixing feel and data to narrow down the options. There was literally no sales push at any stage, just a relentless pursuit to get to the best option for me. I did end up purchasing some clubs as a result of the fantastic eye for detail and level of effort put in, which I look forward to giving a whirl I'll be returning to Manston and especially to see Keely for further club fittings and lessons in the future. Thanks for making the whole experience thoroughly enjoyable and successful

Had a ploughman's the other day, was not up their usual standard. Thick slice of bread, french bread or roll would have been better. Celery old and tough, ham fatty ....not very nice at all One of my party ordered two bacon sandwiches, only one arrived without any of the salad or garnish that was on the other one. Very disappointed as we eat their regularly and meet up their as a large family.

Full breakfasts came out missing bacon sausage and beans just an empty pot. Complained and rather than taking the breakfasts away the server turned up with a with a pot of beans no serving spoon and sausages and bacon separate. Egg was solid and rubbery which she also replaced, and the replacement was flat which i would suggest was old. Sausage was nice, bacon was very salty and i think it had been microwaved at it was dark and hard but not crispy edges. Tomato was luke warm and not cooked, bread was stale either old or had 2 hits on the toaster. Mushroom had been cooked in water and was leathery. Beans were mostly liquid and juice was not thick so probably cheaper quality brand. New potato chips were ok, just deep fried sliced but tasted ok. Free replacement coffee came out and it was only 2/3 of original. Honestly i will never step foot in this place again. Not a good experience. Id give zero but the lady did try to replace.
