Bunyola in 1 day

If you only have 1 day to spend in Bunyola, we’ve narrowed down the top places you should check out to get the best experience of your time here.
Bunyola is a traditional Mallorcan village set on the edge of the Serra de Tramuntana, a UNESCO-listed mountain range known for scenic hiking and cycling routes. Its narrow streets, stone houses and local cafés offer a quieter, more rural atmosphere than the island’s main resorts, while still being within easy reach of Palma. Nearby attractions include the historic Raixa estate, the Jardins d’Alfàbia and the vintage train line that runs between Palma and Sóller through striking mountain scenery.
With favorites like Cova de ca’n fil, Restaurante El Vasco, and Penyal d'Honor, we’ll make sure you don’t miss out on all the must sees. We even included some of our favorite food spots around the area, like Restaurante El Vasco and Cabra Verde so you can get the best taste of Bunyola while you’re here. To see our full list of food recommendations, check out our best restaurants post. If you're traveling on a budget, you can check out our cheap eats post.

Jardins d'Alfàbia is a popular tourist attraction located in Sierra de Tramuntana, Mallorca. It features an impressive historic Gothic-style home and 18th-century water fountains amidst many palm trees and colourful vegetation. The gardens are open to the public, offering visitors the chance to appreciate four-century-old plants and observe various bird species while walking along its peaceful paths. Additionally, guests can enjoy refreshments at the on-site cafe which offers good value for money.
The garden was beautiful. We would have loved to move in right away. The little café is cozy. Unfortunately, the coffee was little bitter. It's certainly a great venue for events... a wedding, for example.

Very beautiful gardens, which one path has a button which makes water spray. There is also a place to get drinks. They have animals and a sculpture. It does cost 9 euros per person to enter.
Charlie — Google review
Beautiful place. Was being set up for a wedding when I was there and it made it even prettier. Not the easiest to find but that meant it wasn't over run with people which made the visit calm and relaxed. The goats were also fun!
Anne S — Google review
I really enjoyed my visit to the Jardines de Alfabia in Mallorca. The gardens are beautiful, peaceful, and well maintained. There’s also a lovely café on the territory where you can relax and enjoy the view. The only thing is that the area is smaller than I expected, but everything was wonderful overall. Definitely worth a visit!

Not regret it coming here at all. It was a good visit. Not expensive. Must visit if you are in Palmas de Mallorca, Spain. Try to be early so you can enjoy everything and take pictures without lines. After noon it's become a very transit place.
O J — Google review
Beautiful gardens, house, ponds, and a cafe to walk around. Very reasonable €9 entry fee. Bus stop and a car park outside. Recommend when in Mallorca.
Jon H — Google review
A beautiful estate just outside Palma. There isn’t much in terms of amenities, but it’s a lovely experience and a nice trip out of the city. We got a discount through Instagram, so the entrance fee was cheaper. You can see the whole estate in about an hour, and the donkeys and other farm animals are especially charming.

I loved this place , my favourite part was the little tunnel that sprayed water at you and the adorable baby goats 🐐. It was really fun seeing a turkey🦃 pecking a chickens 🐓 bottom! The multi- coloured fish 🐠 in the ponds were really amazing 🤩. By: Florence 8 years old

Cottage
Casa Rural Sierra de Alfabia is located in an area with a rich history of agricultural heritage dating back to Islamic occupation. The Moors introduced new crops and advanced irrigation techniques, including the creation of water pipes, cisterns, and water mills. This led to the development of horticultural farms in the region. More than 16 farmsteads were established during this period, with Alfabia being the largest and most significant among them.

Penyal d'Honor

Penyal d'Honor is a popular hiking destination in the Tramuntana mountains of Mallorca, offering a varied path that starts from Bunyola. The highlight of the hike is reaching the summit, which provides breathtaking views of almost the entire island on clear days. The climb to the top is manageable and rewards hikers with stunning panoramic vistas of the Tramuntana mountain range. While there may be some challenging sections and occasional lack of signage, the overall experience is described as wonderful.
Very nice round trip walk from Bunyola where you can be at the peak and back in approximately 3,5-4 hrs with amazing views overlooking the whole Tramuntana mountain range. Climb is easy and you can reach the top without big efforts. There’s no shade up there so you should bring some sun protection.

The highlight is the summit of Penyal d'Honor, from which you can see almost the whole of Mallorca when the weather is good - simply wonderful! This makes up for the sometimes tricky climb and the not good signage everywhere. (Original) Sehr abwechslungsreicher Weg, angefangen bei den Treppen von Bunyola bis zu den Pfauen am Hölenhaus auf den Rückweg (wenn man im Uhrzeigersinn läuft). Restaurante El Vasco

Restaurant
Reservations are recommended as Restaurante El Vasco gets very busy on weekends during lunchtime. The service is efficient and friendly, creating a cozy atmosphere. Over multiple visits, the various dishes tried were all delicious. The restaurant offers a decent wine selection at acceptable prices. From Morcilla to ravioli to calamar con salsa trufa, the food at La Vasco in Palma is not just amazing but super good with lovely flavors throughout.
We had lunch here with my family, and from the very moment we walked in, the impression was overwhelmingly positive. The décor is stunning:warm, welcoming, and beautifully designed. It has a cozy, almost Nordic feel that evokes the Basque Country in a refined and elegant way. The restaurant is quite spacious, with several distinct rooms, each offering a slightly different atmosphere, yet all connected by a coherent design concept. It feels as though multiple spaces have been thoughtfully brought together to form a single, harmonious home. The food was truly excellent, flavorful, beautifully presented, and clearly made with care and attention to detail. Every dish we tried was a delight. If I had to point out one area for improvement, it would be the service. While not bad, the staff felt a bit inattentive and the customer service was quite basic. I’d rate the service a 4 out of 5. Still, we had a wonderful time and left completely satisfied. It’s a place we would definitely recommend, especially for those looking for a warm, atmospheric dining experience with a touch of Basque charm.

I had a truly great experience at this restaurant. The atmosphere is fantastic, I really loved the natural surroundings, the relaxing vibe, and the beautifully designed interior. It’s a place that instantly makes you feel comfortable and welcome. We ordered the fish with garlic sauce, and it was absolutely delicious honestly one of the most flavorful dishes I’ve ever tasted. The combination of fresh ingredients and well balanced seasoning made it unforgettable. Thank you to the team for a wonderful meal and setting. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for excellent food and a great ambiance.

Amazing restaurant located in very beautiful surroundings. The food tasted absolutely amazing and was perfectly cooked. The food was served quickly with a smile. From the outside the restaurant does not look big, but when you enter you are surprised by the size and the beautiful decor. The restaurant is next door to Jardins d'Alfàbia, which is also worth a visit.

This restaurant serves high quality authentic plates at very reasonable price. We stumbled across it 2 years ago and made special effort to return and we’re glad we did. We had multiple sharing plates , all very distinct flavours and beautifully served by friendly staff in lovely environment. Would be equally good for smart dining and family relaxed meal. Highly recommend.

After visiting the gardens, we had lunch in this very charming restaurant, which offered simple but quality dishes. We really enjoyed it. We wanted something light and fresh, so we had the tomato salad, artichokes, and Iberian ham, and it was all perfect. As for the staff, it was mixed, but thanks to one of the girls who was very cheerful and friendly, a real pleasure.

Ca'n Topa, a hidden gem near Soller, attracts mainly cyclists and drivers who prefer the scenic route. This off-the-beaten-path spot offers tranquility along with delicious cake and coffee. The friendly staff and enticing menu options make it a place worth visiting. Even if it requires a detour, the experience is worthwhile as Ca'n Topa deserves more attention and visitors for its superb offerings.
Was on two weeks cycling vacation and couldn’t help but to pass by Ca’N Topa for some light snack a.k.a Delicious Apple Cake or some Perfectly Cooked al dente Spaghetti Bolognese during my mid ride ☺️ Overall, I highly recommended this cute little cafe for a quick stop during mid ride / drive.

The owners have been running this place for 10 years now and are planning to sell it next year (conversation with other guests). The place also appears this way. It needs upgrading. I have been here several times before over the years, but now it seems like they do not care. Before they came and talked. Now the waitress sat stairing down her phone all the time. Her husband (the other owner) came out complaining to a guy that had put his bicycle in the stand while fixing a flat tire (and not instantly buying the quite pricey coke’s) It hope they move on and enjoy their retirement and let someone with ‘energy’ take over the place. It used to be a nice place and the owners friendly. Now they seems tired.

Reached the top in a heavy rainstorm and there it was: the perfect cyclists stop. Bikes outside already predicted the inside would be great. As soon as I opened the door, some other cyclists welcomed me hapily. Had a great cappuccino with some fresh lemoncake. Must be a popular place, the next day a 2 times tour de france winner stopped by and he wasn't the first looking at the photo's 😉

What can I say about this gem. Since there is a tunnel which leads the average local and tourist to Sóller, this place is off the beaten path, only visited by cyclists and drivers taking the scenic route. On the one hand I’d wish this place would stay as quite and calm with some of the best cake and coffee I’ve ever had but on the other hand I’d wish they’d get the attention and large amount of visitors they deserve. The staff is incredibly friendly and while we only had cake, all the other things on the menu did not only sound great but judging from what other customers had, it also looked great. We will definitely be back if we are in the area and we’ll definitely suggest everyone else to visit the place if it is possible in any way. Even a detour would be worth your while.
