A Breathtaking Journey Through History My visit to Windsor Castle was an absolutely unforgettable experience. It is not just a castle; it is a living monument to British history and royalty, and it truly deserves its reputation. The castle itself is magnificently grand and imposing, set against beautifully manicured lawns and pristine gardens. The contrast between the sturdy, historic stone walls and the flawless green landscaping is strikingly beautiful. Inside, the arrangement of the State Apartments is both logical and fascinating. Each room flows into the next, revealing its unique function, from grand halls for ceremonies to more intimate living quarters. They are beautifully preserved and offer a genuine sense of how the palace operated. Furthermore, the furnishings are not merely decorative; they are functional pieces of art. The vast and diverse collections are utterly precious. I was particularly captivated by the extensive array of portraits of royal members. These paintings, varying in size, are so vividly lifelike that they seem to breathe, telling the story of the monarchy across the centuries. The entire visit was an eye-opening and dazzling spectacle. It leaves one in deep awe of the British Royal Family's centuries of influence, global history, and their immense accumulation of cultural and artistic treasures. It was, without a doubt, a trip that was worth taking in every sense.

First time visiting and was blown away at the history and beauty of the Castle, the church and grounds. The town is charming as well. This is a must see, easy trip via overland train from London. Get the audio tour headsets as it’s included and will make the experience worthwhile.

I went las Saturday to see the change of guards, it is amazing!!! It it important to wait for them (10:50 am approx) if you arrive early, otherwise you won’t have time or the best location to see them. The exhibition is quite amazing, and unbelievable!

Its an english castle. Well kept. I Its slightly less for value of money. Would advice to buy tickets in advance as that will save money. If you are visiting multiple castles throughout UK, kindly buy a pass for them as that will be cheaper rather than buying tickets at every castle. No pictures allowed inside.

Over the past 40 years that I have been coming to London, I somehow avoided Windsor Castle for no reason except that there were other things to do but on this trip I am glad to say that I finally visited it and I was not disappointed. I especially was fond of the chapel. I’m not religious whatsoever, but the burial chamber of the Queen was worth seeing. The crest room as seen in one of these photos fascinated me. The tour guides and Museum staff were helpful and knowledgeable.

The Windsor Castle and Town are a must to visit! An authentic place with it's atmosphere and history. While visiting the castle you get the audio guide and it is really easy to walk, listen and admire. We spent here about 4h to visit each and every chamber and exhibition. Great experience!

​Having traveled all the way from India, and after visiting the incredible Warwick Castle, I have to be honest: Windsor Castle, while historically important, didn't quite deliver the overall tourist experience I was hoping for. ​The Good (The Royal Legacy) ​The castle is undeniably an icon of British royalty and history. It’s a privilege to walk through a working royal palace, and the sheer scale of the place, from the State Apartments to the beautiful St. George’s Chapel (the final resting place of Queen Elizabeth II), is impressive. If you are deeply invested in the British Royal Family, the sense of gravitas and history is palpable. The audio guide is excellent and helps paint a picture of the centuries of monarchy. ​The Letdown (The Visitor Experience) ​This is where it lost two stars for me. Compared to the kind of packed, energetic experience we often see in top historical attractions (think of the crowds and chaos at a major Indian monument, but in a good way!), Windsor felt a little too stiff and hands-off. ​No Photos Allowed Inside: This was a huge disappointment. In a digital world where every moment is a memory captured, the strict ban on photography inside the State Apartments means you walk through grand, gorgeous rooms and leave with only the memory, not the image. At Warwick Castle, I could take pictures of the fascinating exhibits, which made it feel much more engaging. ​Less "Attraction" and More "Museum": Warwick Castle is owned by a theme park company (Merlin) and it shows—they packed it with live historical shows, interactive elements, wax figures, and birds of prey displays. Windsor, by contrast, is a royal home and a museum for priceless art. If you want a fun day with lots of shows and activities, skip Windsor and go to Warwick. ​Verdict for an Indian Visitor ​If your main goal is to tick off the oldest and largest occupied castle in the world and see the pomp of the British monarchy, then come here. ​However, if you are looking for a more interactive, family-friendly, and all-around tourist-attraction-style historical experience—where your ticket price buys you more spectacle and the freedom to take photos—you will find Warwick Castle a far more fulfilling day out.

I walked in, imagining a museum. It wasn't free. I had to come back with cash after finding an ATM. As much as I like museums, galleries and other cultural places, this one cannot qualify as a museum. It's a single room. Not much larger than a living room with some photos, posters, screens and some odd objects. After a minute, that was it. I have seen everything and there were no other rooms. I still tried to search for anything worthwhile, but apart from reading posters and staring at some old objects, there was nothing exciting at all.

Great little museum with lots of local history in a pretty historic building, sadly we missed out on the up stairs section of the building as there was a lot of renovations going on but that can only be a good thing in the long run, the audio guide was really good and informative, it was a little humorous in places too, I'll have to go back and see what it's like when it's finished.

Lovely little museum! Spent ages here with 7year old. He did some colouring, played with castle toy, played with Duplo and jigsaw of crest, space chase fact hunt, dressed up as along, I liked headsets we were given to use, and we did tour of guildhall. Staff were so lovely and helpful! Only small museum but they've managed to utilise space and activities really well! Highly recommend!!!

A small (one room) museum. Only £2 for adults, £1 for over 12 years, free under 12 years. Really interesting exhibits on history of Windsor and the local borough. Information on local trades and family history. A good selection of WW1 photos. Audio tour and some interactive exhibits. Large selection of dress upressing up for the younger children. Staff were amazingly friendly and informative.

This is an interesting and free but small museum about Windsor. It includes a small information area and shop.

The place was very small than expected. Barely could have place to walk around and read.

I visited today and I loved it , I took my dog in and i spent some time talking to the volunteers/staff who were really friendly and welcoming. It's a free of charge little exhibition and very interesting. As for the people who say "it's just a little room" 🙄. It's free entry and contains ancient artifacts, what's not to like.

Amazing!!! Went to see The Lightning Thief- Percy Jackson!! Wow! All the performers were spot on! 100% recommend if you get a chance to watch. Songs were catchy, stage design was great, jokes were just right! Well done to all.

I recently had the pleasure of seeing the Michael Jackson tribute starring Ben at the Theatre Royal Windsor, and it was amazing. From start to finish, the energy was electric and the performance thoroughly entertaining. 🎤 Ben truly captured the essence of Michael Jackson – his voice, moves, and charisma were spot on bringing every song to life. The costumes were stunning and added that extra sparkle to the whole experience. 💡 The stage lights are extremely bright, so if you're sensitive to lighting, you might want to bring sunglasses or sit a bit further back. 🪑 Seating-wise, the chairs are quite snug. If you're on the larger side, I’d recommend booking an “end” seat for a bit more comfort with leg room. That said, the view was really good. 🏰 The location couldn’t be better – right opposite Windsor Castle and surrounded by lovely restaurants, making it perfect for a pre-show dinner or post-show drinks. Parking and the train station is conveniently just around the corner, which made the whole evening stress-free. 👋 The staff could of perhaps provided a more friendly and welcoming experience to the venue. If you're a fan of MJ or just love a good night out, this tribute show is a must-see. Whilst he doesn’t look like MJ if I closed my eyes he did an amazing job at sounding like him 🎶

Amazing staff, they made us so welcome this lunchtime for the Fireman Sam show. What a lovely little theatre, well equipped to cater for little ones with booster seats and helping direct everyone to their seats. They seemed to enjoy the show just as much as the kids too! Thanks again for making it a wonderful experience

Went to watch percy jackson today and it was amazing!!! Although however there was an inconvenient delay in the second half of the performance, still had a spectacular time

This was my first time visiting this venue and I was pleasantly surprised. It’s a lovely little theatre with a welcoming feel. The bar area is a good size and I really liked that there were tables and chairs available, rather than having to stand as you often do in many London theatres. Parking was easy, we used Windsor and Eton station car park which is less than a five-minute walk away, making it very convenient. Overall, a great venue and I’d be happy to return.

Lovely theatre, unfortunately the show we saw, sherlock Holmes, lacked pace, script was obscure and characterisation lacking except for the guy who played lestrad. Really disappointed. The guy next to me fell asleep 4 times.

We enjoyed the production today of Doubting Thomas on this week. An unusual “who dunnit” hinging on dementia, family issues and longstanding relationships. The acting was good (I’m not a drama fanatic but it’s my opinion) and some twists added to surprises. A few laughs too. I’ve been to the theatre before and it has character and charm. But I enjoyed the storyline very much. Worth a visit. We asked for and got pensioner rates. Sat at the back but that was fine.

Fantastic food and good service from this pub on the edge of Windsor Great Park. The Catalan eggs were delicious and my veggie friends raved about the falafel & smoked tofu burger. Café gourmand to finish was a delightful, rare treat ☺️

Book a table ! A French chef who cooks the best roast ever. French baguette served before you eat your order. Meringue at the end to finish your meal. Waiters are also so attentive to what you need. Always smiling , chatting nicely.

What to say, really nice experience. Fantastic food, refined even but not pretentious. I could say it is a typical english restaurant and cuisine, but I'm not so reliable since I'm italian. Really affordable prices (40 pounds for 3 dishes) considering the quality and the comparison with London. The venue was incredibile. I wonder how it is in winter, with the fireplace going. Maybe, one day, I will come back to see...

Great location, large choice of drinks and really delicious food. However, the cherry on the top of this particular visit experience was the service. It was a French gentleman running front of house on the day I visited with my wife and daughter where quite simply he demonstrated a master class on how to do it expertly. With a warm smile, a cheery word and particularly rapid foot work he was greeting new guests and getting them settled, checking in on existing drinkers and diners, taking orders, handing out food and drinks, cleaning and setting up tables and slicing up and serving fresh bread and butter. In the excellent weather we enjoyed, I'd have been happy sitting at my table in the extremely pleasant garden surroundings for the remainder of the afternoon admiring the sheer skill in how this guy worked. Anyway... we found the menu to be extensive with choices for everyone. There was also a specials board where I chose the hot lobster dish which was particularly special. My wife and daughter also thoroughly enjoyed their meals. Decent sized portions, (my daughter took half of hers as a takeaway), and top marks for visual presentation. We were in the area as our daughter was starting Uni locally. While it was a slightly tense day having built up to her departure from home, after getting her settled in her Uni accommodation that terrific pub lunch trip really helped reduce the stress levels and add an extra positive boost for us all. When we visit her, we'll definitely return to the Fox & Hounds as after just the one visit we already have a fond and lasting memory.

Delicious dinner at Fox & Hounds. We came rather late, but they were still able to serve us. I had the pan fried Foie Gras, which was lovely with a delicious gravy. However, the highlight was the burger, which had a great thick juicy patty, and a deep fried brie wedge, which was fantastic. The service was also great, we felt very welcome. Will come back again!

I have recently moved to this area and The Fox & Hounds has become a staple of my weekly routine - I am usually a very picky eater but it’s all amazing here!!! Even for vegetarians, there is always something. The service is incredible, especially the French waiter Alec, who is happy to put up with my incredibly broken french. The pub is full of friendly people and half of them speak French if you are looking to work on your skills. Overall 10/10 for everything - couldn’t recommend anymore.

We visited Legoland on a Sunday afternoon and stayed in one of the woodland lodges before a full day in the park. The process of booking the stay was fairly convoluted on the website, but from that point, there were clear instructions and links for all our passes, which were very handy to have on the official app! Sunday in the park was manic and not at all quiet, with 40 min queues for all the main rides (including the underwhelming Dragon rollercoaster). Flight of the sky lion is a great ride, but please sort the queue system out for people with the fast access pass (some of which have paid extra). We waited longer in this queue than people were in the standard entry! I don't think the clearly hungover lad running it could cope with figuring out what to do. The site is quite sprawling and despite there being a train that runs from the entrance into the middle of the park, it isn't always in operation, so prepare for the walk back up the winding hill! Food offerings are standard over-priced fried theme park fare unfortunately, with little imagination in the variety on offer. Breakfast at the woodland lodge clubhouse was fairly decent on the other hand. Our lodge was clean and spacious, with the skylight projector in the kids room being a nice touch. The treasure hunt also went down a treat. You might want to take earplugs though, as the Heathrow flight path is directly above, so sleep was fairly limited to the hours of 11pm -5am. It could be so much better in places, but overall it was still an enjoyable outing that was worth checking out.

Great theme park, I enjoyed the rides, we didn’t wait to wait too long to get onto the rides and there was 2 that we did a couple of times. Kids loved it. The Lego mini land was great, loads to see and a lot of detail gone into it. Food was expensive but always is at these places. We’d happily return!

The kids absolutely loved it. It was definitely a fun outing that everyone in our group really enjoyed. The ride times generally seemed to work out pretty well, and you can definitely make a great day out of it if the weather stays nice. The pizza and pasta buffet was efficient and there was plenty of food to go around.

I recently visited Legoland, and overall, it was a fun experience, especially for young adults and kids who love Lego. The park is bright, colorful, and full of creative Lego displays that make you feel like you’re in a toy world. The rides are exciting but still safe and suitable for younger visitors. Some of the best ones include the Lego Driving School and the Dragon Roller Coaster. They bring a lot of joy and laughter to both kids and parents. However, one big problem that spoils the fun is the long waiting time for the rides. Most rides have a waiting time of 30 to 45 minutes, and some even take almost an hour. For young kids, standing in a queue that long is very difficult. They get bored, tired, and sometimes upset before they even reach the ride. It becomes a frustrating experience for both children and their parents. Because of this, the excitement of visiting Legoland turned into disappointment. It is hard to enjoy the park fully when so much time is wasted just waiting in lines. To make the experience better, Legoland should think about limiting the number of people allowed in the park each day. This would reduce the crowd and make waiting times shorter. In conclusion, Legoland is a great place with amazing rides and attractions, but the long queues really spoil the mood. A little crowd control would make it a much happier and smoother experience for everyone.

Bad: Rides waiting time: I'm starting with bad because I want people to first know what they are getting into so they can make a better decision. The rides have massive queues, the resort is not very organised in terms of crowd management. The queues are massive, like there's at least 60 minute of waiting for almost all the rides, unless you have ultimate ride pass forget about managing to do even 3-4 rides in a day. And their opening times are only 10-5, which is definitely not enough for the money you pay. I had ultimate pass and still I couldn't do all the rides and it felt such a stretch - is it worth the money though : absolutely. As we didn't have to wait more than 5 minutes for any rides. But it's ot for people who can't afford to pay for those passes. Food: If you are vegetarian, forget about eating here, not many options to eat, a Pizza place, that's beyond expensive £23-£24pp - with very limited vegetarian options, a burger place that does serve vegetarian burger, and the waffles place can't handle crowds and they close the shop when they can't handle the load. Face paint: rude staff and poor face painting skills Good: ultimate pass is rhe best way to enjoy the park, we loved all the rides we took. Miniland is awesome and so is their train. Staff is helpful (if you find them).

I’m in love with the Lego village, it’s so beautiful and full of detail. The miniatures are perfect, and the little surprises with the moving parts are such a clever, well-thought-out touch. The rides are great too, and I definitely recommend the Haunted House. The main store has fair prices, which honestly surprised me. Overall, the park is a fantastic way to spend a day, you can experience a lot in just one visit since the queues are relatively short (the longest wait was around 60 minutes), especially compared to other similar parks.

Really fun park - great rides, infrastructure and entertainment for all ages. It was my birthday so we stayed at the Legoland Resort hotel and it wasn’t worth it though: the hotel is nice enough, but not as amazing or new as one would expect; the service is random - depending on who you ask you get things / help… or not. Food is overpriced and subpar for the cost. I highly recommend the park for two days (lots to see and enjoy!) but stay in a hotel nearby and pack a picnic so you don’t get disappointed

Visited here on the Charity Open Day in August . Entrance for individual tourist is at the Park St., which is close to the train station. It’s a beautiful place for a summer chill out. Highly recommended bringing your picnics and stay there for a whole afternoon. Ticket for the Frogmore House sold separately.

We came here on the day the National Garden Scheme (NGS) hosted a day at Frogmore Gardens when all the ticket income goes to charity. Ordinarily visits can only be arranged in advance for groups of 15 or more. Our ticket said House and Garden, but the House was not included and a separate ticket had to be purchased. The gardens are well worth a visit with the remarkable Frogmore Memorial where Queen Victoria and Prince Albert are buried.

Very lucky to be able to visit. We were only allowed in the house and gardens and not in the Victoria and Albert mausoleum, which was being repaired. We were also not allowed near the graves of the many members of the royal family, including the Duke and Duchess of Windsor, who are buried there. I understand it's only open to the public several times a year.

Only open to the public in August when the Queen is not at Windsor Castle as Frogmore House is still used by the Royal family. Guided tour of gardens & house. Very interesting! A must!

Beautiful gardens, house full of history and charm. Such a shame only open 3 days a year for individuals to visit. Lovely that the Queen allows charities to benefit from the openings. Felt privileged to be able to view.

So much history here. Rarely open to the public. Three days in June only and only groups in August.

I took a group to the Garden, we had a tour of the Garden in the morning which was really enjoyable. The guide was very knowledgeable. In the afternoon we did the Heritage Tour, a guide joined us on our coach and showed us round Windsor Great Park. This was an amazing experience. Our guide was Chris and he went above and beyond to make sure we had a good time.

The entire park is beautiful and worth the visit for young and old. Paths are easy to moderate and well maintained, with beautiful forest to explore. Bring your babies in the prams or grannies in wheelchairs. This place is for everyone. Locals are friendly and dog walkers considerate. Toilets in the pavilion spacious and clean. Shop has a bit of everything and isn't that expensive. Bins are available in some parts of the park. Buy a ticket to separate Savile Garden or the kids playground which looked absolute fun.

New one for us, it's part of the great Park of Windsor Castle apparently, slightly hilly but not to steep paths, lovely flower beds by the hot house, explore further there's a lovely walk, 4 miles, around a lake .. it's a beautifully kept park with many species to gaze at. Eating in the cafe restaurant is great too, good range of dishes and drinks at very reasonable prices, and all served with friendly smiles.

I parked here to begin a walk around Virginia Waters. It's a lovely spot with beautiful gardens, a cafe (there are also plenty of other places to get coffee and icecream and snacks around the park) and there is an adventure playground which has to be paid for and a smaller one nearby that doesn't. Be warned, parking is expensive if you're there for the day. I paid over £15. But it's worth it for a lovely day out.

Nice garden with plenty to see and a glass house. For visitors with children, they have a massive adventure play area. Good catering, plenty of parking and if you are a Great Park local, membership includes use of several car parks I think so with checking out.

Took a party of 21 pensioners to the gardens. Had an excellent day. By going as a group we had free parking. We started with lunch then we split into 2 groups for a guided tour. Our guides were knowledgeable, entertaining, enthusiastic and our tours lasted longer then we expected but we were delighted! The gardens looked good as well but it's nice to know the stories behind the planting and plants. Had to finish our day with tea and cakes.

A full, enjoyable day out at The Savill Garden with plenty to see and enjoy on a May bank holiday weekend! Lots of parking available - make sure you bring your car park entry ticket with you to the pay desk when buying garden admission as they will scan it so parking is free (costs up to £15.50 otherwise). At the visitor centre there's a large shop, plant sale area, restaurant (fully booked during the lunchtime of our visit, so book ahead to make sure), toilets and an indoor and outdoor cafe. The garden admission tickets enable you to leave and re-enter the gardens as you please on the day so you can break up the visit with a tea break or two if desired. On our visit, the spring wood was in full glory with stunning azaleas, magnolias and rhododendrons. The very first couple of hints of what's to come in the rose garden were showing their heads, while the dry garden with its Mediterranean flavour was displaying plenty of colour. This is a beautifully set out garden that's not too big but has plenty to see, seemingly regardless of the season, and no shortage wildlife to be enjoyed throughout.

Windsor Great Park Illuminated was a truly magical and unforgettable experience for my whole family! The enchanting light displays, including some amazing holograms, along the route created a truly wonderful atmosphere. It was great that there was a cafe along the way where we could grab some food and drinks during our walk. At the end, the kids were thrilled with the carousel and other fun rides (though tickets are sold separately). There were also more food stands there, which were a little on the pricier side. Overall, a fantastic festive outing and highly recommended for a special family treat!

First time we went to Windsor Great Park Illuminated and to be honest the last. For two tickets plus parking it cost us £52.80 we took our dog which was great. On their website it says it takes 1.5 - 2 hours to walk around. It didn’t take us that long, it took us 40mins to walk around & we are not fast walkers. Some of the Illuminations were good, but most of them were absolutely rubbish. To be fair there wasn’t that many of them. You had a funfair and food stalls around the place, but these were way way over priced. The prices they wanted to charge were absolutely disgusting, £3 for a 330ml can of drink that would have cost them in bulk about 40p each. On average the price of the food was £12 Would I go back and would I suggest others go there? No I wouldn’t, what a waste of time and money. So not worth the £52.80 If you want a great place to go for illuminated lights, I would suggest Kew Gardens. It’s absolutely amazing there.

I go there quite a lot of time during the year in different seasons, and it's absolutely worth it.

It was a great experience for us first timers. Magical & family friendly. With tickets bought in advance - the parking and entry is easy. First stop is eating area: stalls of chips, pizza, burgers, hot drinks & churros. There are two fire pits as well (to warm up). Few rides for the kids as well. This should set the tone before you start the trail. Your tickets are scanned then before you go in. The trail is open space with lots of different colours of lighting, different designs, different art & themes. There is winter/Christmas music throughout the trail with some kids stories (on the speakers). The setup is really good and mostly clean. There are two more refreshment stops (just like the first but minus the rides). The entire trail may take 1h 30mins to 2h depending on the crowd, one stopping for pictures and if you also stop for refreshments. You exit where you entered but from the other side. Therefore, navigating back to the car park is easier. Attached are some pictures. Worth doing a trip every year!

Stunning light and laser show but overpriced. Ample of car park and can be booked online along with entry tickets. Finding this place can be tricky if using sat nav, look out for sign boards. Just 4 rides for kids. Various eating and drinking options on site, price point is well maintained. Fireplaces are available outside so as marshmallows.

Fabuuuuuulous! Multiple different displays including, 'real 'snow, scene projections, music. Food & drinks cabins. Walk ways were protected, so fine for regular footwear as not excessively muddy. If car parking is required, book at time of ticket booking. ( parking £7.70)

We came here for afternoon tea, and enjoyed our time. The menu was served promptly, and the selection of teas were great. Earl grey and the chai were unique and tasted fresh. Service was friendly and welcoming. Overall, recommended for families, and book ahead in advance to ensure a table is available for larger groups.

We booked a table for a large family gathering (17, including young kids) at short notice due to weather meaning our original plans for the day had to change. The team at the restaurant were great, particularly the manager Anthony, at looking after us, making sure we got our food & drinks, patiently dealing with our questions & changing of plans/request, and making sure those with food allergies (one with a very serious dairy allergy) were taken seriously and put at ease. They even produced a glass of something bubbly for my sister (it was her 40th birthday) . A great location, good food, and fantastic service!

Sandwiches were alright, scones were dry and sad. Desserts looked very pretty but the cheesecake was practically frozen, the other desserts were WAY too sweet. One of the teas was awful, the other one was luke warm at best. Tea cups and plates were dirty, the saucers probably hadnt even been washed it seemed. The glasses stank, the overall state of the seating and tables was bleak. Service was rubbish too. Really don’t recommend the afternoon tea!

There were five of us for Afternoon tea, the welcome and service overall was excellent. The sandwiches and buns were just right, the cakes were spot on and delicious, we could not eat everything. Our only moan was that when offered another pot of tea (very nice) they just filled the teapots up with hot water and did not refresh the tea bag! However apart from our moan we would book again.

I had lunch with a friend and our two babies in their prams. The staff were super attentive and made sure we had enough space, the manager also came over and slices our pizzas for us so that we could eat and feed babies at the same time. A really really thoughtful action. Would definitely come back!

I was so disappointed in our experience. We had been before and had been seated in the more private, quieter side of the building a few years ago. This was chaotic and right in the centre of the restaurant. We arrived about 10 minutes late but still ended up waiting about 30 minutes for the afternoon teas. There was a blatantly dirty glass on our table (pink lipstick stain). When the food finally came, 1 of our desserts was still frozen/icy (cheesecake). All 3 of our clotted cream portions had a blue/black crust that I can only assume was mold. No one apologized for the wait time or the dirty glass or the moldy cream. The rest of the food was just ok. Really not worth it and better / nicer options around.

It is pricey but food quality is good. Pizza was tasty with a nice side salad which was generously dressed. The 50% beef/50% lentil & mushroom burger doesn't read well on the menu (probably why the waitress said they don't get many orders for it) but it really surprised - it was a substantial burger that was moist and meaty with good relish, salad and gherkins - highly recommended - even if it is £20 with skin-on fries (which were also nice but very expensive if ordered separately as a small portion is £5.50) No straws - not sure if they had just run out or don't use, but they didn't have any - luckily we had a supply in the car!

The room was a little dated...no ac...the bed was tiny after complaining we were moved to a bigger room but that was 2 single beds joint together!!! Was celebrating my wedding anniversary, told the reception in advance but nothing was done for us. Food at lunch was good and the afternoon tea amazing, dinner was not up to scratch. The service in general is good and staff are helpful. Spa treatments were fully booked but made use of the pool sauna steam and jacuzzi. Grounds are nice too!!

A lovely hotel surrounded with large open grounds. From the outside the hotel looks very grand and impressive, inside the decor it is a little more standard. The restaurant food and service was exceptional and the spa was also very nice. I would definitely come back. The only word of warning is that the hotel is under the flight path and not that far away from the airport.

Stunning hotel and beautiful grounds. The staff were friendly, attentive and nothing was too much trouble. We stayed for 4 nights and used the spa, which was lovely and relaxing. The only small issue was the room size, which was quite small but we booked a standard room. It was very clean, which is more important to us than the size of it to be honest. We ate in the restaurant on a couple of evenings and we were well looked after. The food was delicious and couldn't be faulted. As we went during August there were quite a few families there with children. We really did appreciate being sat in the 'quieter' part of the restaurant at breakfast, as we didnt have children and it was quite loud where they were all seated. This shows the staff have an awareness of such things. These small, yet significant things, makes one happy to return, which we will be doing next month. We will be upgrading on the room though, to see what we will get for our money. Fabulous hotel, fantastic staff and clean room. Looking forward to going back!

From the moment we arrived the staff were attentive and helpful. Never in your face or irritating. The service was just so great always going the extra mile to make the experience and stay special. From complimentary wine for the birthday being celebrated during our stay to the handyman helping fix the (free to hire) bikes for a cycle ride we went on. Couldn't recommend this place more!

Very pleasant hotel and spa. Very friendly and helpful staff. Buffet food provided for the family event I was at was very good. Function Hall was very large, backed onto a nice peaceful garden. Didn't visit the spa itself, but judging by the lovely hand soap in the toilets I'd say they use very nice products...

Room was clean and looked after, if a little warm - although a fan was provided. Every member of staff was helpful and courteous, and the service at the bar, breakfast and dinner was excellent. The setting for the hotel is lovely, and considering the location of the hotel in relation to London, the cost of the hotel is reasonable. Overall a comfortable and enjoyable stay.

The hotel was clean and the staff very helpful. We did not eat in the restaurant. The breakfast was additional to our tariff and at £17.50 per head not great value. The family room we stayed in was a good size and quite quirky. WIFI only really works in the bar. All in all it was OK.

We went with friends who were visiting and it was a really good day out. Lovely walks around, and plenty to explore. The cafe was perfect for an ice cream, which was enjoyed by the river. Carpark was small, but I think there is alternative parking across the road.

We visited here with our family in June, beautiful day and great location we had a picnic in the park then travelled on the boat to view the magma arts site, some amazing art work really worth the trip, boat ride was great take some bread to feed the ducks.

Beautiful couple of hours visiting this place all around fields and steps up to the jfk monument lovely walk by the river after with a cafe nearby bit expensive but I guess it pays for the upkeep x worth a visit even just for the history

This is a Must Visit English Heritage Site from where all of the Western Freedom Documents originate- The 1215 Magna Carta, King John's Royal Charter & Promise to The English Barons of England, was signed at Runnymede- The Willow Art & Kennedy Monument are fantastic as well as The Jurors & Willow Sculptures art installations are magnificent! They have a lovely Tea Room & Boat Tour as well as a Thames Riverside walking trail :)

So beautiful and so much history! A great stop to get out in nature, stretch your legs and learn some history of Magna Carta. Also very beautiful art installations. Don't miss this stop!

We walked around the area where the Magna Carta was signed and visited the Memorial. The weather was great so it was lovely walking around the Memorial area and then Runnymede Pleasure Ground.

I stopped at Runnymede for a coffee as I was an hour early picking up my brother from Heathrow. Despite only being 10 miles from LHR, it feels like the area hasn't changed much since the Magna Carta was signed. The Magna Carta, signed in 1215, was the first document that puts into writing that the King and his government wasn't above the law, Europe's first written constitution, to limit the powers of an unpopular and excommunicated King John. I had always wondered why it was signed here, and learnt that Runnymede at the time was chosen because it was a muddy bog that prevented a battle erupting between the King and his barons. Its a great spot, full of history, and being here feels like you're lost in the countryside. Had a great coffee and learnt something. Thanks to the National Trust for keeping places like this alive 👍

A small but well stocked Tearoom with good snacks and drinks. Very dog welcoming even inside (perhaps other National Trust sites can emulate)!

Great little cafe. Lovely outside seating. And just across the road to a lovely paddle boat that does hourly trips down the Thames.

The tea room offered a few variety of food and drinks. I ordered cappuccino and sausage bap which were quite decent. The service of the staff were warm and welcoming. It’s quite relaxing to sit there before you finish a long walk.

Lovely friendly staff, dogs allowed lovely little cafe for a coffee and a sausage or bacon sarnie.

What a terrible shame and shambles, this is an awful place with poor incredibly poor customer service, limited menu, it’s not fit to call itself a tea room. Pre packaged sandwiches, anemic looking pastries and a generally grim affair. I asked to sit outside and had a small request to have some metal cutlery as I cannot stand the wooden ones. I was told “the manager had a rule it cannot be taken outside” - I am not going to steal Knives and forks. I don’t think I had asked for something impossible or that difficult. I decided to leave without purchasing anything as I had already been disappointed with a poor menu choice and generally unwelcoming atmosphere. It’s such a shame as this would be a lovely spot after walking along the Thames. It’s not run well , I would suggest to avoid at all costs this place is a joke.

It was a very busy Spring lunchtime and the tea room was busy but we found a table by the window and enjoyed some fresh sandwiches, beautiful cheese scones with a tea and coffee. The Staff were very friendly and clearing tables quickly. It is very Dog friendly with tables specifically for those with Dogs which is very good to see.

The John F. Kennedy Memorial in Windsor is such a peaceful place to reflect and honor a truly unique and incredible figure. Nestled in Runnymede, this serene spot by the River Thames offers plenty of places to sit and take in the beautiful landscapes, making it a perfect place for quiet contemplation. A thoughtful touch is the QR codes placed around, offering videos that dive deeper into JFK’s legacy. His words echo throughout the site, forever engraved on the entrance gate and stone monument, reminding visitors of his impact. If you’re ever in Windsor, this is a must-visit tribute.

Nice little area opposite the river walkway. It’s pretty but not a long walk at all. You can easily finish the walk in 5-10 mins. Nice stopover for a snack and toilet break and if you’re curious to know what else is around. It’s very peaceful and pleasant!

This isn’t the highlight of the park. Writ in Water is by far the best bit. The American soil thing is interesting trivia but led to at least an hour of hypothetical legal questions from my nine year old - none of which I knew the answer to. Bluffed it reasonably convincingly I think. Most importantly though, there is a path near the top of the slope, the shape of which is so eye-blisteringly ugly that I am leaving this review in an effort to warn aesthetically sensitive people. If just one person is saved from the trauma I experienced, it will have been worth it. I have also included a photograph of said path, but I warn to you prepare yourself before viewing and proceed with extreme caution. Is it supposed to be a talon - of a Bald Eagle perhaps? I don’t know. It’s really really really bad though. In fact, until 15 minutes ago, when I saw a 1970s wooden cross formed from letters that read JESUS, it was the ugliest thing I’ve ever seen. Not a lot to see here. A nice little walk uphill (not long but quite steep for non walkers) through the trees. The memorial is well kept and simple. It’s pleasant but I wouldn’t go out of your way to visit this unless you have a passion for JFK or modern US history. There is a car park close by which is paid (cash and app payments accepted. Attendants there ok some days). A nice little place but I’d suggest it’s only worth it if you tag it onto a visit to see the Magna Carta memorial.

The park is spacious and beautiful with the river nearby and plenty of parking. The JFK Memorial itself is situated up on one of the hills but the path is not easily accessible for visitors with push or wheel chairs. However, the rest of the park is.

It's very good me as a British person who illegally passed through this united States plot land feels great!

Quiet place to contemplate a very different president.

I visited looking for my Great Uncle Eddie who's bomber blew up over Germany in 1944. As I had a panel number I found him very easy to find. Very well maintained memorial.

High on Cooper’s Hill, overlooking the gentle bends of the River Thames and the ancient meadows of Runnymede, stands one of Britain’s most poignant monuments: the Air Forces Memorial. From this height, the land stretches into blue distance — Windsor Castle visible on clear days, and beyond that, the faint shimmer of London’s skyline. At first sight, it’s breathtaking — a serene cloistered structure of Portland stone, framed by lawns and towering pines. But it’s when you step inside that the weight of history truly sinks in. This memorial is unique. It doesn’t hold the remains of the fallen — it holds their names. Over 20,000 men and women of the Commonwealth air forces are remembered here — those who died in World War II and who have no known grave. Their names are inscribed on the walls and pillars of the cloisters, arranged by year and rank. The names span nations — British, Canadian, Australian, New Zealander, South African, Indian — united in the same fight for freedom of the skies. There’s a haunting beauty in reading the endless lists, each line representing a life lost somewhere over the sea or in enemy territory, never recovered. Unseen by many visitors, the memorial’s architecture carries deep symbolism: the open tower that frames the sky reminds you that these were people who served in the sky, and whose final resting place is, in a sense, the sky itself.

Impressive place to visit. The size and the endless rows of names really leave an impression. I particularly appreciated the little items that tell the stories of some of the fallen.

Well worth the small detour if you are in the Windsor area. Truly outstanding memorial to the brave airmen and women of the Commonwealth who died during WW2. The views towards Central London over Heathrow from the observation deck are fantastic.

Wonderful memorial to those who gave their lives so that we could live freely. Last time I was here was over 50 years ago.

A must see if you are visiting Windsor. Beautiful, serene place reminiscent of the Normandy memorial. The building is stunning, long curving arches engraved with the names of 20,000. You can climb to the top and the view across the woods to London is amazing. You can walk the entire in an hour and parking is available beside it. For walkers you can walk from here through the woods to the other memorials on the Old Windsor Rd, all well worth a visit.

Wonderful place! The atmosphere was pleasant, staff were friendly and the food was lovely. My boyfriend and I had the cheeseburger with chips and it was a beautiful, juicy burger! Will definitely be coming back

Always a warm and friendly welcome when coming to the Beehive. Great atmosphere along with fab food and selection of seasonal cocktails. The team are always doing a lot for the community and getting them involved. Currently loving the Pilates & Lattes on a Thursday, which is great value plus chance to have a fab brunch after. Defo recommend-very lucky to have an awesome pub on the doorstep

August 2024: I felt compelled to re-review this gastropub and reduced it 3.5 stars but giving 4 here. Why? My hot seafood platter at £55 was very disappointing. 6 white baits and calamari that tasted of batter only. The half lobster was overcooked and rubbery. The best thing in that platter was the cod cheek. Tasted very good. I waited a while for this seafood weekend. And it was disappointing. If I were to go again it wouldn’t be for the platter. The sea bream was superb. And the white baits starter was worth it! Next time I’d get a 4 starts and that would still be cheaper than the platter and portion size would be so much more. The lobster here wasn’t worth it unfortunately. Service was 3.5-4 stars. It was a bit slow considering it wasn’t busy. It’s like we were an afterthought. A lady of age was so much better. I recommended this pub to so many of my connections and I was going to make this our regular. However after this second visit…. I don’t know. I’m now unconvinced and it’s a shame. I just feel disappointed that it’s a hit and miss. And I feel bad for recommending it. Maybe I’ll give it another go before deciding for sure. We had the platter, fish and chips, bream as main, white baits starter, 1 dessert, 2 teas was over £126 (including service). October 2023: I’m giving it all 5 stars eventhough it could be better because nothing is perfect right? Example the service could be better because the girl looked shell shocked when we arrived and said I’ve booked a table for 3. Even our son noticed it and kept asking us why was she surprised as he could see our names in the book. But after that a lady of age was super nice. Top notch customer service. Atmosphere should just be 4.5 because it’s a bit shabby chic inside and out. However, perhaps that’s the charm. It’s cosy. It’s ok. Food - this is where they excelled. I went there because of the reviews. It’s very very good. We had 2 starters, tea for 2, 3 mains and 1 dessert. With tip, just under £96. So not bad. I’d definitely recommend the beetroot salad with goats cheese. It has hazelnuts in it. The burger came medium rare so ask if you’d like it cooked more. We weren’t asked but we also forgot to ask. Everything - delicioso!!

New chef. Adjusting food and overall rating from 5 to 3. Might have been unlucky, but having dined here many times before, this visit was nowhere near the usual standard. The roast beef, which was previously tasty, rare, and succulent, was tough and noticeably less flavoursome. The roast potatoes were an improvement, but ultimately the beef matters more.

A great Sunday lunch, tasty meals, great choice and of course very helpful staff. We will been back again soon. We booked our table in advance to be certain of getting a table. We asked for easy access for an elderly relative and they gave us the perfect table. Thank you.

Ordered food arrived started eaten then realised there is a black hair stuck in my cheese on my garlic bread will be attaching photo its disgusting I will now never order again and will take it further coz it's not nice when u spent money and can't eat it

ive ordered from this place many times its pizza has never let me down. love a cheeky bbq chicken pizza and the staff are so friendly. the prices are good as well. definitely the best place to get pizza in egham!! also cheaper to call them up instead of ordering on the website

Best pizza joint this side of New York. It’s not Rome style, but US style. It’s very fast, very reasonably priced. You can customize your own pizza with no additional cost. Parking is limited, about four street parking spots but you can park on other streets and walk there. The guys are funny and friendly and the pizza taste great. Keep it up.

I ordered from here for the first and last time Pizza and topping , nothing was fresh . Also they don't have many clients coming in, that could justify this :( Never having it again

I don’t trust a pub with fake flowers. This is a rule I choose to live by, and I think others would benefit from this knowledge. The garden area is nice and usually lively, but the inside is dead. If you are looking to get drinks for cheap, it’s a good place to go, but it lack’s atmosphere and once again, fake flowers. Pizzas are good but small.

Excellent staff, excellent service, excellent managment, pretty good food/drink (depending on personal taste, but if you like the items available, you'll probably enjoy the taste of it). Only negative: the security on big nights can be confrontational and rude unnecessarily to generic customers. Would recommend to any newcomers. If you leave behind/loose something staff are really good at keeping lost property. 10/10 all around

Had some food here and it was great. Really good quality. All sourced locally too. Staff are excellent and since changing thier name and ownership it has seen some great improvements. They also have a working fire which was a really good feature that creates a great vibe and atmosphere

We were so excited to eat here, the menu looked divine. Each of us had an Amaretto Sour before choosing a Chilean red and Camden pale ale. The cocktail was fantastic. I’m normally dubious about cocktails in pubs but this was delicious. We shared the Guinea Fowl pastry to start, and had the steak and ale pie and Pheasant for mains. Presentation was great, unfortunately all the dishes were missing flavour. Maybe the chef was having an off day as family had raved about the food. We finished with a few Negronis, which were also excellent. We were still peckish so enjoyed a few packs of pork scratchings. It’s a lovely pub and I would definitely come back to enjoy the ambiance and drinks.

We visited The Barley Mow near Windsor today, hoping to enjoy a casual bite to eat. From the outside, the pub looked charming and inviting – a classic country-style pub that caught our attention from the road. Given the positive online reviews, we expected a good experience. Unfortunately, it didn’t live up to expectations. To start with, the staff were friendly and professional, which we appreciated. However, the quality of the food was quite average and seriously overpriced. A standard burger cost almost £17, and we had to pay an extra £1.50 just to add cheese – making it more than £18 for a very ordinary burger . The burger didn’t feel freshly cooked, more like pre-prepared, and the portion size was underwhelming for the price. The fries were chunky but overcooked and greasy, and the portion was small — served in one of those tiny metal buckets that look better than they perform. To make things worse, even a simple soft drink (a lime soda) cost nearly £3, which is excessive compared to most pubs we’ve visited across the UK, where this would usually be around £0.5–£2. The atmosphere was also quite mixed. While the pub’s exterior gives off a quaint, country vibe, inside it felt more like a random dining space without much character. The overall vibe wasn’t particularly welcoming — a mix of locals and people constantly coming in and out to smoke, which was quite unpleasant while trying to enjoy a meal, especially when smoke drifted in every time the door opened. In short, we wouldn’t recommend The Barley Mow. It may look like a charming stop from the outside, but the food, pricing, and experience don’t match the expectations or the reviews. There are plenty of better-value pubs with much better food and atmosphere nearby – this one was a letdown.

It’s my favourite place to dine out. I will celebrate any excuse, achievement or holiday just to come here and enjoy the delicious food and service. The staff are so friendly and always welcoming. The food is brilliant, the menu changes seasonally which shows the efforts they put into it along with really great ingredients at such a reasonable price. I recommend this place to anyone and everyone. It’s a must!

Lovely meal and great service. We booked this as we had been gifted a virgin experience. The manager Elias explained how everything worked clearly when we arrived. Food was lovely. Sanjana our waitress was really goods. The service we received here was fantastic.

Our experience at the Barley Mow was excellent. We had the chicken supreme and the fillet steak and they were both amazing! Special mention to Sanj, who made this all happen. She truly was a great waitress and made sure we were very well looked after! ☺️☺️

Service was impeccable, the food was glorious, much much more than traditional pub grub, although they do have special offers - a burger and pint for £20, which had fancy toppings and looked tasty. The menu selection is just right and changes seasonally, everything we ate was cooked to perfection, kooked fabulous and was delicious. Portion sizes are good too, a real gem of a place!
