Lava Lava Beach Club is a beachfront resort with modern cottages and an open-air restaurant offering live entertainment. The club provides a casual atmosphere where guests can dine in their beach attire while enjoying the blowing of the conch shell at dusk, tiki torches, tropical cocktails, and live entertainment by Hawaiian recording artists.
Lava lava Restaurant was a magical place to enjoy and great meal & watch the sunset! I took my shoes off and had them in the sand which was so lovely! The atmosphere is relaxed and very beach vibe. The service was excellent and so was the food! We had a wonderful selection of yummy cocktails to choose from and our table liked all of them we tried. Live music was a great touch. The portion sizes were nice and we ended up sharing a few different dishes. There is a free parking lot if you want to walk or a pay one which is quite expensive, but give them your plate number and you won’t be charged. I will definitely look forward to going again.
Raquel M — Google review
You are definitely coming for the view at the Lava Lava Beach Club, Waikōloa. We did lunch and the food was very good. We had the fish tacos and fish and chips. Yes, the view comes with an elevated menu price but it's not outrageous. Our server, Adrian, was quick to accommodate our requests and was spot on for knowing when to come to the table to check in on us. Our condo overlooks the restaurant so we see the sunset every night but I can only imagine it would be stunning beachside (and probably very busy) We both had the lunch specials and a drink special but the cost was the same as the menu price. I guess "special" is what they are pushing but at no special price. Regardless we enjoyed our lunch and the friendly, attentive service. There are two parking lots; one is nicely paved with pay parking qr codes and the other next to it is part paved and part gravel. That is the free parking lot. The nicely paved lot is pay but there is a sign stating Lava Lava Beach Club will validate parking. It's just not clear if you pay then see the host/hostess to get reimbursed or if you just don't pay and leave your license plate number. We parked in the free area as it was only a minute walk to the restaurant.

We stopped in just after 3 pm and ordered off the dinner menu at Lava Lava Beach Club in Waikoloa. My husband had sushi and ribs, and I went with the burger — everything was excellent! The sushi was spectacular, made with fresh, local fish caught the same day, which made it totally worth the short wait. After eating, we got to check out the ocean, spot a beautiful turtle, and soak in the relaxed Hawaiian beach vibe. The setting couldn’t be more perfect — great food, friendly service, and unbeatable sunset views. Highly recommend this spot if you’re looking for fresh seafood and oceanfront dining in Waikoloa.

At the restaurant we had a lovely experience - food was wonderful. And specifically the ambiance was amazing with the live music and great waitress - Sacha. She was a poetic genius with her cuisine syntax. The way she described meals and deserts was like a poetic performance! She’s got word skills. We loved her 🥰

Now this place is beyond words, but I’ll try. The location is almost perfect and the decor is very beach vibes. Definitely come here just before sunset and watch the magic happen. The food is such a well done and prepared part of this place. Now be aware that it is going to hit your wallet pretty darn hard. The taste and presentation is epic. So it makes sense. The wait staff is super nice and very attentive. She made sure we were taken care of and got exactly what we wanted and kept checking on us. Enjoy the photos and stop by.
Nolan V — Google review
Spectacular location. Friendly staff and decent fare. There is a separate area for small kids to run around as well as ping pong table and corn hole games. Go there an hour before sunset so you can take in the amazing views. Usually a long way but IMO it's worth it.
Pradeep N — Google review
We watched the sunset from this restaurant. Gorgeous views right on the beach. They have a lot of fun family friendly games you can play on the lawn. Beach is nearby. Their food was excellent. Went with a large group of friends and no one had anything bad to say about any of it. Server was attentive and friendly. Can’t wait to go back!
Rhodes F — Google review
We went to the restaurant only on a Sunday night, and sat right away. The place is nice, beach front, with tables on the sand. They had live entertainment by a nice solo guitarist-singer. It is a little tricky to find, a long dark and partly paved road. Parking is a little far, and it is paid, but if you give your license plate they cover 2 hours. Service was good and fast. The food was ok. And specially not for the prices. I guess beachfront has an overprice but it seemed too much. We had a ceviche, which is just a tostada with some ceviche on top. The nachos were ok as well. The best was the burger.

Shopping
Kings' Shops is a lakeside mall in Waikoloa, offering a diverse shopping experience with high-end clothing, jewelry, and gift shops. Visitors can explore local boutiques as well as renowned brands like Michael Kors and Tiffany & Co!. The shopping center also hosts a weekly farmer's market on Tuesdays from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., providing an opportunity to sample local produce and immerse in the island's flavors.
There is a mini golf ⛳️ course by the shell station. Me, my wife and brother in law and his girlfriend played here. The atmosphere was wonderful! That being said, bring bug spray haha!

While still in high season it felt barren for a Friday night at 6pm. A stark contrast to the many Orlando areas in high season (mid month August). It’s a charming higher end outdoor shopping mall with a highly manicured Hawaiian theme. Everything feels more like a corporate roadmap vs. independent concept. There’s a handful of galleries. For the kids there’s also a kid’s museum. It’s also peppered with a few eateries, coffee shops, and shaved ice. All surrounded by calming views of the local resorts.
Harold P — Google review
Free Polynesian show on Wednesday evenings @ 8 pm, Roy’s Hawai’i fusion cuisine, Na Hoku jewelers, Harley D shop, OBISIC for shaved ice, in sum: shopping, dinner, show, and dessert. The Wed shows will be on-hold beginning in 2 weeks due to remodeling of the show pavilion but the drummers will continue to perform during this hiatus. Remember to tip the performers.

Had a great visit to this shopping center! Catered towards those staying in the Resort due to is location. Lots of places for shopping and food! Great selection of restaurants both dining in and takeaway, with great waterside views. I've cream, gelato and shaved ice on point, with the warm temps!
Patrick D — Google review
Cute outdoor shopping mall. There are 2 restaurants and some dessert places. Given the size of the mall, it was an appropriate amount. The market is small, but does offer a wide variety of items.

Great Farmer’s Market TUESDAYS 9:00AM – 2:30PM. Lots of nice shops, coffee & shave ice.
Dana ( — Google review
Great stores and restaurants for everyone to enjoy. This is a place that you will want to visit more than once. The Polynesian fire dance show that they have after dark was great, it was like attending a luau show without the food. The best part was that it's free and kid friendly.
Joel H — Google review
Amongst the high end jewelry shops and clothing boutiques you will find some nice eateries, a coffee shop, ice cream parlor and a candy store. There is even a randomly placed motorcycle dealership. And yes, there is a general store that sells liquors! All this in a beautiful, outdoor, park-like setting where they play Hawaiian music. The motto on their sign is, "King Shops - Where you belong!" Yeah, I wish I could afford to belong here. Lol

Located in Waikoloa Beach Resort, Queens' Marketplace is a resort-style mall offering a delightful shopping and dining experience. With over 35 retail stores and specialty shops, visitors can explore famous brands like Crocs as well as unique Hawaiian brands such as Da Big Bag Hawaii and Kona Surf N Sandals. The marketplace also features diverse dining options including Waikoloa Shrimp Co. and L&L Hawaii serving traditional Hawaiian BBQ.
Best place for shopping or movies groceries and dining especially if you are stuck at the beautiful but grossly overpriced low quality Hilton Waikoloa. Take a $7 Ride Share over the $5 Van Can be crowded but it is also very friendly and you can ask for a custom drop off sometimes.

Pleasant upscale smaller open air Plaza style mall. Seems like it never recovered from pandemic. Several storefronts were empty and one was down to its last two days. Lots of parking. Some restaurants only open 4 to 8pm. The Rum Shack is worth the trip.

What a pleasant surprise to my morning walk/run after staying at Marriott vacation club only 10 minutes walk!! Stopped at SB for breakfast then walked around for about an hour until 10am opening. Bathroom super clean, friendly staff and customer service in shops. I stopped at Carialoha, awesome bike shop ( check out great deals on their local and Patagonia ball caps!), so many amazing local shops couldn't buy too much since I was walking. Also had nice lunch at the island gourmet with nicest cashier calling my Mom and I " auntie" super endearing! Much ALOHA here!! Live, love & spread ALOHA 🌈🥰

A variety of shopping options. Great grocery store, Island Gourmet, fantastic variety of hot and cold food options. Highly recommended you shop here and save on the high prices at your resort. Also, I highly recommend the Lava Light Galleries, Phil Waller is this photographer, and his work is amazing.

Great atmosphere. Open air mall with beautiful garden in the middle and plenty of seating to enjoy the outdoors. It has a movie theater, restaurants, and affordable shops. ABC mega store is towards the end of the mall offering deli, grab and go, made to order delicious food, groceries, fresh produce, seafood, souvenir shop, liquor store, and personal care products at affordable prices.

Blue Hawaiian Helicopters offers an unforgettable experience for those seeking to explore the diverse landscapes of Hawaii. With tours covering Oahu, Kauai, Maui, and the Big Island, this company has been a leader in helicopter tours since 1985. The Big Island Spectacular tour with a waterfall landing is described as truly spectacular and worth every penny. The pilots prioritize safety and comfort while ensuring that everyone gets to enjoy the amazing views.
Just landed!! We did the Big Island helicopter tour and it was my very first ride in a helicopter. Honestly, I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Everyone we met made us feel safe and explained what to expect, which really helped with the nerves. Our pilot, Kaj, was awesome—super knowledgeable and really encouraged us to ask questions along the way. We got to see waterfalls, the coastline, valleys, and volcanoes… and the best part was catching actual lava spattering at Kīlauea! Such a special experience. I’d 100% recommend it if you’re ever on the Big Island.
Julie A — Google review
We booked the Big Island Spectacular trip and I absolutely loved it. Mat the pilot was great! Very knowledgeable and entertaining. The flight was incredibly beautiful, I think my favorite parts were the waterfalls. Such a different perspective from the sky. Highly recommended. If you are a veteran, let them know! It isn't the cheapest of all adventures but it is one of those "once in a lifetime" trips. The staff at Blue Hawaiian are super friendly and very helpful. Highly recommended!
Rory B — Google review
We absolutely loved the helicopter tour with Blue Hawaiian. It was very well managed from beginning to end! Our pilot Shane had a lot of great stories to tell about the island and the scenery was incredible. He made sure that, no matter what seat you were in, you had an incredible view. The cliffside and valleys with the waterfalls are stunning to fly over - you can’t get there any other way, which made it extra special. 100% 👍
Marisa A — Google review
The highlight of our trip to the Big Island! Highly recommend. We did the Big Island Spectacular on Nov 7 10:30 am, no waterfall landing, first class seats. The ride was so smooth (even my boyfriend who is scared of heights had an awesome time), and the music was hilarious and really set the scene as we flew around. We saw a little bit of lava, a lot of waterfalls, and experienced all the climates. James was the most wonderful pilot. He was so attentive, making sure everyone on each side had a view. We learned so much from him! He even gave us food recommendations after, and we loved the spot he mentioned. Would do another helicopter tour with Blue Hawaiian!
Cheska P — Google review
We took the Big Island Spectacular tour out of Waikoloa Village and had a great time. we were the first to arrive and paid an additional $400 to get front seats. This is an expensive trip, but the front seat was definitely better and the views and pilot were excellent. In the end, my wife and I both felt it was an excellent decision to purchase the trip and front.
Rob H — Google review
My first helicopter ride and it was AMAZING! James, our pilot was a great tour guide. We got at see the volcano erupting gas. The number of waterfalls we saw was phenomenal along the coast. We didn't have the landing at a waterfall and I wish I would have booked that add-on. The ride was smooth and I would do this again.
Kiss C — Google review
Blue Hawaiian Helicopters is the best helicopter service to use to see Hawaii from the air. We have taken Hawaii helicopter rides with other firms and have not been as pleased. Blue Hawaiian Helicopters are spacious and the pilots well trained. Our pilot, Greg gave us a great smooth ride and warned us of upcoming turbulence. Needless to say, the views were spectacular. Book directly with Blue Hawaiian Helicopters to get the best deal. We would definitely use Blue Hawaiian Helicopters again.

Wonderful experience. Shane was an outstanding pilot and tour guide. He was very knowledgeable of the entire island. We felt safe throughout the entire journey. I would definitely do this again and recommend to anyone visiting Hawaii.

Really nice and it's a long the walk to the pool. Bar, restaurant, shops, etc.... Awesome free art to see along the way.

Shops close too early. It's 5:40pm and only three or four are open. The show at 7pm on Monday and Thursday is to attract people here, but if the shops are closed, we can't shop.

Great grocery store with prepared meals to grab and take to the beach!
John S — Google review
The grocery store is very nice, has a great selection of food in the deli and 'grab-n-go' cases. There's an attached liquor store. There's a cafe with good shakes nearby. Tommy Bahamas at the other end. The shops are very expensive though, some of it is pretty high end stuff but most of it you can buy for cheaper at the local farmers markets. There's a fun 4D theater located in one of the shops, each film is about 5-12 minutes so it's a nice short break from the sun and heat. We wondered through Kozy's Tiki Palace, he had lots of cool art work and we didn't get to stay for the show but he does a comedy/ magic show every night, I think it'd be worth checking out.
Michelle P — Google review
The Foodland and Tommy Bahamas are great reasons to visit this center. Theres also a good coffee shop and a nice juice place. Unfortunately, many of the remaining retail spaces here are vacant and the rest are almost variably selling indistinguishable, ubiquitous island wear. Come for the food but don't expect much else.
Molly W — Google review
I took the shuttle bus to The Shops at Mauna Lani. Had a Pog smoothie and a Maui surprise muffin both pretty good at Kimobean. The prices were reasonable. I also went food shopping at Foodland Farm. They have a pretty nice selection on wine. It's a small strip mall but conveniently located.
Sylvia C — Google review
Some great shops available here. I visited foodland and kimobean coffee repeatedly, and did so on bikes from the nearby Mauna Lani Bay Resort. Poke bowls at foodland are fantastic and far more affordable than what's available at the resort. Kimobeancoffee has delicious muffins and scones. Buy local.

Waikoloa Shrimp Co. is a must-visit for shrimp lovers, offering a variety of flavors such as coconut, lemon-pepper, spicy, dynamite, and their signature garlic shrimp. The owner-operator Aileen Umayas ensures the freshest ingredients are used in their salads, wraps, bowls and build-your-own options by working with local Hawaiian farmers and distributors. Despite the busy lunchtime rush, the friendly staff provides excellent service with patience and efficiency.
More like a 4.5 but honestly pretty great food especially by Big Island standards. Mac salad was solid but tasted like it had a bag of msg in it which was a bit much. Shrimp dynamite and coconut shrimp were good but definitely bordering on overseasoned (w/ salt). But definitely worth a visit if you're in the area!
Jerry C — Google review
Every single item we ordered was super flavorful and the plates were filling!! The dynamite shrimp were crispy and large, the garlic steak was cooked perfectly to a medium rare per request and the wings were delicious! Mac salad was perfectly made and the pineapple garnish with the seasoning was a great addition. Highly recommend this spot!!
Michael J — Google review
Very good coconut shrimp. Plate has 6 pieces of shrimp, sweet and spicy dipping sauce, white rice and mac salad for $20. The mac salad was pure Hawaiian style so don't expect too much flavor like what the mainland views as mac salad. I liked it but some won't. Dipping sauce is awesome and put some on the rice to give it a kick. In a small court so no ambiance but just perfect for a quick lunch after snorkeling.
Chris K — Google review
We ordered 10 minutes before close. The garlic shrimp was very flavorful and portions were generous but I felt it was a bit overcooked making it tough. Rice was good but macaroni salad was not to my liking, on the sweet side but I think that’s the Hawaiian style? Very friendly service guy who made recommendations and wasn’t rushed to close u like his helper who rolled her eyes when we approached to order.

Waikoloa Shrimp Co at Queens’ Marketplace is a total win! 🏝️🍤 Tucked into this charming shopping center, it’s the perfect spot to grab a bite while exploring Waikoloa. The garlic butter shrimp was unreal — buttery, garlicky, and cooked just right. You get that fresh island flavor in every bite. The staff were super friendly, and the service was quick, even during the lunch rush. It’s casual, tasty, and hits the spot whether you’re shopping, beach-bound, or just hungry for something good. Five stars, easy! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
David H — Google review
Flavorful and good value! I ordered the garlic peeled shrimp plate, which came with six pieces of lightly breaded fried shrimp, rice, Mac salad, and a seasoned orange slice. The shrimp had a strong garlic flavor and was well seasoned, though it might be too powerful for more subdued palates. The seasoning on the orange paired really well. We also got coupons for a free donut from pono pastries and a free drink from kohala coffee co.
Khetthai L — Google review
We got the garlic shrimp (peeled) and the dynamite shrimp. Both were just okay and rather salty. Staff was very nice and we got our food quickly, but overall it wasn’t quite worth the price for us.

Foster's Kitchen in Waikoloa is renowned for its exceptional dining experience, offering a menu with a southern influence and an emphasis on using locally sourced, fresh ingredients. The chef's innovative approach infuses the dishes with flavors inspired by the beauty of Waikoloa. Guests rave about the layers of delicious flavor found in every dish, from perfectly cooked meats to delectable seafood options like the flavorful seafood pesto puff pastry.
Pretty solid meal. Burger was properly cooked. Kids had garlic fries. Beer options were on point. Server was a good guy and quite helpful. Had the fish wrap. Blackened. Nice. Quality food and made from scratch. I would come back here. Similar to the pricing in other Hawaii restaurants.

We were in the mood for something casual and walked over for dinner on a Wednesday night (we were staying at the Marriott across the street). They had a large patio but it was still a little warm so we opted to sit inside at the bar. They had a good cocktail menu with a wide variety of options and their food menu offered a good mixture of dishes. The bartender was very friendly and made a great Mai Tai! My wife ordered the small Garden Salad and I got the Candied Bacon Chicken Sandwich. The sandwich had good flavor and my wife mentioned she enjoyed her salad. It was a quick dinner but we enjoyed our time there.

We had a fantastic experience at Foster’s Kitchen! The restaurant has a warm, family-friendly atmosphere with plenty of seating options, including a bar and a relaxing patio with a nice pond view. The menu is refreshing and offers something for everyone, and for Waikoloa, the prices are a really good value. A special thank-you to Tanner, our server, who was absolutely wonderful, attentive, friendly, and made the whole meal feel even more enjoyable. Service like his makes all the difference. Highly recommend dining here if you're in the Waikoloa area! Thank you, Kevin and Diana

Food here was really good! We had the shrimp and grits, which was amazing... Though the grits aren't like southern grits, they are more like a cream of grit. The cheesecake was very good as well. Highly recommend having dinner if you are staying in the Kings Shops.

The food was great, and it caught my taste buds in a roller-coaster forever. The service was good, our waitress was fast and polite with our order. I chose outside patio with a beach veiw even though it was like 830pm. Unique flavors and great menu choices for all. Consistently available and joking about the plural of cheese is cheesi. Twinkling and magical with paintings that give you full on story's to think about for hours. The mac-n-cheese was extra cheesy, and the grilled cheese was savored. The umbrella pole was on the side to make it look like magic.

Views great. Food and time to get it? Meh. We stopped in shortly after they opened. The staff let us know right away that the fryers were down, so nothing fried was available—which happens, and we were totally fine with that. We ordered our food at the same time as our drinks, but it ended up about 50 minutes for the food to come out. I ordered a chicken sandwich, but the chicken was barely there and so, so dry. The food overall just missed the mark, though the views were great—and I think that’s really what they’re banking on. We didn’t have drinks, but the table next to us did, and theirs were flowing, so those might be worth trying!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Foster’s Kitchen in Waikoloa absolutely blew me away! From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was warm, inviting, and perfect for a date night. It has just the right balance of casual comfort and upscale charm. I ordered the calamari steak and it was incredible tender, flavorful, and unlike anything I’ve had before. The fish of the day was fresh, perfectly cooked, and seasoned to perfection. Pairing everything with their mashed potatoes and gravy was the perfect touch creamy, rich, and absolutely satisfying. To top it all off, I grabbed their lilikoi cheesecake to-go and wow, that’s how it’s done! Smooth, tangy, decadent, and the perfect way to end an already amazing meal. What made the night even better was our server. They went above and beyond to make sure everything was just right, with a genuine friendliness that made us feel completely taken care of. Between the incredible food, the welcoming service, and the relaxed yet classy atmosphere, Foster’s Kitchen has easily become one of my top recommendations on the Big Island. Whether you’re a local or visiting, this spot is a must-try for an unforgettable dinner experience! 😋

The young server was great and friendly but not the hostess who ignored me when I came into the restaurant while she obviously met eyes with me. She also didn't bother come say thanks and hold the door for our BABY STEOLLER but just act cold and doesn't bother to help. Food was OK. Fresh fish is pricey at 44 but came dry and not some fresh with all the "creative" seasoning. The Mac and cheese and beef burger were good.

Tommy Bahama Restaurant is a great place for a relaxing dinner with friends. The environment is cozy and the service is impeccable. The food is delicious and the prices are very reasonable. Be sure to make reservations in advance - this restaurant can get very busy!
Always a solid place for dinner! We came here on our second night and just like the other locations we’ve been to, the food and drinks were great. We also found out they have a great happy hour from 3pm-5pm so we were able to catch the last part of that. Their cocktails were crafted with perfection - the Mai Tai is my usual go-to and they made a very tasty one. For dinner, I tried their Sanibel Chicken dish and it was phenomenal! It’s a huge portion but the flavors were all fantastic. It was the perfect atmosphere for vacation bites!

What a great experience! I didn’t even know this place existed! I was hoping it would be good since I only thought they sold shirts and chairs! 🤣🤣 We had an amazing time. The food was awesome, and the atmosphere was great. The service was amazing. We had a weird thing happen where the fire alarm went off! Wow that was loud! Someone pulled the alarm which was not nice! 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️ the staff handled it very good! My ears were mad, but they got better! 🤣🤣 Anyway……great place! 🤙🤙🤙🤙

We loved everything about this place. So good we ate here twice. Great service, views and food. The chicken Sanibel was amazing! The 8oz filet was decent and cooked well but not a fan of the mashed potatoes or arugula. Just my preference but they were prepared perfectly. Ceasar salad was very good too.

We went to both locations on the Big Island & enjoyed both. We tried the coconut ship, tenderloin salad, Tuna poke and Key lime pie. Everything was excellent. The Mai Tai & Margarita were both tasty as well. Service was very pleasant & efficient. The atmosphere with covered areas, live music, beautiful decor and fire tables was very nice. It would be nice if they took reservations as we had to wait quite a long time for a group of 6.

First time ever dining here and it was while we were visiting Hawaii! Food was delicious and drinks were refreshing. Just a tad confusing on happy hour, as it was only applicable if you sat at the bar, not at the table. Service was great.
Soky R — Google review
Seems like a very new location. My son and I really enjoyed our food, however it was too windy to be seated comfortably outside and items were blowing away. Including the chips off my son's plate! He really liked the fish tacos but thought the salsa was so-so. My Hawaiian flat bread was good, but not so amazing I would spend the $$ again. Really over paid for this lunch!

Great find! Plenty of seating, great atmosphere and service. And most importantly - the food was just excellent. Really enjoyed our dinner here twice!

We had a wonderful time here! Our hotel shuttle driver suggested this restaurant, and we were delighted with the experience. Food was delicious, drinks were fun and tasty, the manager was lovely and thoughtful, the music by Joe (playing the stick) was thoroughly entertaining. A great way to finish a day in the sun!

Nestled within the stunning Waikoloa Beach Marriott Resort and Spa, Hawaii Calls Restaurant offers a delightful culinary journey through Hawaiian and Pacific cuisines. This stylish outdoor venue is currently featuring an exclusive Chefs Series, where guests can indulge in a four-course dinner crafted almost entirely from local ingredients. Each dish is thoughtfully paired with select wines or craft cocktails, creating an unforgettable dining experience in a sophisticated setting.
I came for a drink and oysters, and I loved spending time at the bar with bartender Lacey. She’s a joy to interact with and very accommodating for my special requests. I highly recommend the oysters, ribs (so tender!), and the mac nut white rice (ask for a side of it, don’t think it’s on the menu). Although I didn’t eat breakfast here, the buffet is pretty nice and the kaula pork eggs Benedict looks delicious! Enjoy this video of the buffet.

Food was expensive; 6 wings about 18-20 dollars and a little Salad? Crazy. Service was good when there was a young waitress/waiter but slow with the majority older wait staff. That was our experience; hate to say it. Very nice Views; obnoxious flies and birds.
Will N — Google review
If you’re staying at the Marriott, this is the only restaurant on property. We are here for breakfast and lunch and the food was pretty decent. Their breakfast buffet had a very large assortment of items, my favorite being the Poha Scones. The staff were all very friendly and always welcomed us with a smile. Lunch was a little different experience - the service wasn’t as good, probably because they’re also catering to the people at the pool, and the food was just ok. The prices are expensive but unless you venture out to eat somewhere else, this is your only option while on property at the Marriott.

My family and I decided to hop down to this restaurant and the vegan curry was AMAZING!!! I was feeling like something a little less dense than a burger and I’m so glad I chose that dish! The ulu was lightly fried so it had a wonderful mouthfeel! 10/10 going back soon just to get that dish again! The peach cobbler and strawberry cheesecake were also yummy!

Very convienent restaurant located downstairs in the Marriott and allows room charges. Food was pretty good but service was not fast at all. The views are gorgeous and make waiting a lot easier.

Great vibes , amazing hospitality though n good quality food. Looking for a grub spot right after our sunset boat ride we ended up at Hawaii calls. For parking all you got to do is get to the self parking area , press the grey button ( call for help) and let the security person on the other side of the phone know that you are in for dining at the restaurant as it’s located in the Marriot property. One thing to keep in mind is the fact that the menu in restaurants here changed very often and pictures in Yelp from say 2022 or 2023 might not even be relevant as far goes the menu. Got to our table with a nice clam breeze blowing across. Remy was our host for the evening and an absolute sweetheart as she kept up with our requests. Big shoutout to Remy for her efforts!! We ordered Roasted Brussels, The Ali’i mushroom along with Kanpachi ( subbed out the starch for veggies for one of the orders while the other came out as is OOTB). The initial batch of mushrooms that we received was overly oily and when we reported that to Remy she got a new batch done for us. Still didn’t taste as good. The Brussels sprouts were ok and looked overly fried and thus dinged a star overall. The kanpachi was decent and the veggies along with it tasted good. The mashed potatoes were not prepared in the way we expected them to be and left a bad taste in our mouth. It could have been an off night for the kitchen but what we paid in for our bill was way too high compared to the quality of the food that was subpar at best.

May 2023: Stayed at the Marriott Waikoloa for three nights and had breakfast each morning and dinner one night. Dinner: Service was great. Tried the prime rib cooked medium rare. The meal came with a nice side of veggies that were perfectly cooked. We liked it so much, we ordered another side 😋. The prime rib was delicious. Great salted crust. Would definitely come back again for another slice! Breakfast: The continental breakfast buffet was very good. Hit the spot each morning. Got the oatmeal with raisins. Coffee was good. Much better than the standard coffee house 👍. Overall, a great place for breakfast or dinner!

Day 2

Off the beaten path
For day 2, if you don’t mind the extra trek, today covers more off the beaten path places like Hapuna Beach State Recreation Area. Not quite as popular as Waikōloa Petroglyph Reserve, but still highly rated among many travelers. Accounting for getting around and average time spent, today’s activities could take about 8 hours.

Beaches
Hapuna Beach State Recreation Area is a stunning half-mile stretch of golden sand, offering clear waters and excellent swimming conditions during the summer. Lifeguards are on duty to ensure safety, but caution is advised during periods of high surf. The beach is perfect for activities like snorkeling and bodyboarding when the waves are calm, while rougher conditions make it ideal for experienced swimmers and surfers. Additionally, nearby resorts provide access to world-class golf courses with breathtaking ocean views.
One of my favorite beaches anywhere. Fantastic white sand. Good amount of parking, lots of functional showers for rinsing off. Great beach for families, novice boogie boarders, body surfing. I have never snorkeled there, but I did see people snorkeling there. Note: they do charge for parking/access now. There are a lot of families who come here year after year, it's a great place for family memories.
Obey W — Google review
Hapuna Beach is an absolutely stunning coastal destination, renowned for its soft, powdery white sand that stretches for nearly half a mile. The crystal-clear turquoise waters create a vibrant contrast with the lush greenery surrounding the shoreline, making it a picturesque paradise. Gentle waves lap against the shore, inviting both swimmers and snorkelers to enjoy the ocean, while the expansive beach offers the perfect spot for sunbathing, picnicking, or simply strolling along the water’s edge. As the sun begins to set, the sky often transforms into a spectacular canvas of warm oranges and pinks, enhancing the beach’s natural beauty even further.

Nice beach. Has lifeguard, nice restrooms, volleyball court, plenty of grills and family eating areas. A lot of parking, but need to pay. Went on a weekend late morning and there was plenty of places by the water. A little windy the day we went with blo ing sand, and glad we went there.
Greg K — Google review
Great beach to play in the sun and sand. We went on Tuesday and it was not very crowded. Water was calm in the morning and got a bit choppy in the afternoon. Cost $10. To park and $5. per person.
Linda J — Google review
Lots of sand on this beach, probably the largest sandy beach on the island easily accessible by car. Clean restrooms two outdoor showers at the beach and one at the top near the parking lot. Non-residents must pay $20 for parking. A couple pavilions with picnic tables and a couple of satellite picnic covered picnic tables. Few shaded areas otherwise recommend bringing an umbrella and chairs.

Waialea Beach, also known as Beach 69, is a hidden gem that remains somewhat off the tourist radar. This crescent-shaped white sand beach is popular among locals and offers calm and protected waters ideal for casual snorkeling. The area is both family-friendly and gay-friendly, with shady trees providing relief from the sun. While the north end of the beach is great for snorkeling, it's important to note that this area is also popular with nudists.
This beach was AMAZING! Definitely a highlight of our trip. VISITORS here are some things to know: - $10 per vehicle + $5 per person. you pay at the meter. - if you’re looking for some easy access snorkelling, this is fantastic! easy to access, not overcrowded, and saw lovely sea life (we saw 2 sea turtles as well) ! - use mineral sunscreen so you don’t hurt the reefs, keep the waters from chemicals! HIGHLY recommend. totally worth it.
Anna S — Google review
My 92 year old mom really loves this place. Good sandy beach for snorkeling, swimming, and body boarding for the kids. There is ample parking with shower and restroom facilities. For snorkelers, the water has an abundant and varied species of reef fish BUT the visibility can be poor when the waves and currents kick up. Kids will enjoy playing in the sand and looking in the tidepools. Bring beach chairs and lunch to enjoy under the shade of trees dotting the shoreline.
D J — Google review
This beach does have a parking fee ($10 per car) and fee per person ($5) but it was out absolute favorite of our week here. Definitely worth it as the facilities - bathroom and shower - are decent. But the bay is calm, the water is clear, the crowds aren't bad, and there is shade everywhere. Perfect spot to bring a cooler and a set of chairs and hang out for hours.
Steph C — Google review
Great small beach, sand and rocks so snorkeling and swimming, good amounts of shade, great for kids and adults. GO EARLY it will fill up fast. $15 to park full bathrooms and a shower. The locals ohana will be there be respectful and keep it clean and if your lucky honu and dolphins will be resting in the bay. as allways check ocean conditions

05/05/2025 (Mon) Waialea Beach – commonly known as “Beach 69” – offers a peaceful atmosphere with plenty of shade from wide-spreading trees and large, dried fallen trunks scattered along the shore. These natural features provide a great place for visitors to relax away from the sun. The parking lot is fairly spacious, but non-residents are required to pay a fee of $10 per vehicle and $5 per person (as of 2024). Though the waves can be a bit choppy in the afternoon, the water is generally clean and clear. The nickname “Beach 69” is said to have come from a utility pole near the entrance that was once marked with the number 69. Locals still affectionately refer to the beach by that name. We didn’t have time to go into the water on this visit, but it’s said that the early morning is the best time to come, when the waves are calmer and the beach is less crowded. Overall, it’s a relaxing and scenic spot that’s well worth a visit.
Yulily — Google review
Gorgeous beach with beautiful, clean sand and crystal blue ocean. It's somewhat of a cove—not sure if I'm using the word correctly—so the water is calm and easy to swim in. There are some nice rocks to snorkel around if you're into that, as well. The beach has many trees that provide excellent cover from the shade. We arrived at around 10 am and there was still space on the beach; arriving later may have made that more difficult. Such a good beach to visit.
Jacob K — Google review
Giving this beach a 4 because of the available shade & facilities. The snorkeling is so/so. It'd impress people who haven't snorkeled in very many other places. That being said, a majority of the coral is dead which is common around the Hawaiian Islands. Tangs, trigger fish, an occasional angel, puffers, a couple parrot, and sergeant fish.
Reef T — Google review
Amazing! There’s plenty of shade from trees, beautiful water, soft white sand, and fun small waves that are perfect for little ones 🤙🏼☺️🫶🏼

49 Black Sand Beach, located on the Kohala Coast, is a unique destination due to its status as the only black sand beach in the area. Accessible through a gated private community off of Honokaope Pl, this public beach offers uncrowded and serene surroundings. The volcanic bay near Mauna Lani Resort features a small crescent of black sand surrounded by lava rock cliffs at Honokaope Bay.
A peaceful, private black sand beach to relax and swim for a couple of hours or half a day. Recommend bringing parasol (as it gets super hot), chairs and drinks to hydrate yourself 🏝
Esther H — Google review
Small but beautiful black/gray sand beach in private area with limited parking. Very few places with shade, which is why we moved to another beach. The partially rocky constellation seems to be great for snorchling and it's not windy, so an umbrella will hold.
Janina — Google review
We stumbled upon 49 Black Sand Beach by total surprise — and what a hidden gem! It’s located inside a gated community near Wailea on the Big Island, and they give out daily parking passes based on the limited number of spaces, which keeps the beach peaceful and uncrowded. We loved how private and serene it felt. We walked along the black sand shoreline, dipped our feet in the clear water, explored the lava rocks, and admired the gorgeous homes perched up on the cliffs. The lady at the gate was so kind and helpful, and the entire experience was just perfect. If you’re looking for a quiet, scenic black sand beach on the Big Island, this spot is absolutely worth visiting.
Tricia J — Google review
Small beach, but very few people (probably because it's rather difficult to get to). The black sand is beautiful and there's even a nice shaded area by the cliff side. If you're on this side of the island and are looking for a peaceful black sand beach I would highly recommend this one.
Kyle M — Google review
Great quiet beach, looks more like salt and pepper sand to me. Snorkeling was awesome, we saw so many varieties of fish and it was clear. Lots of rock formations to swim around but protected area so you don’t feel the movement of the ocean. They have shower to rinse and bathrooms.
Golden G — Google review
Beautiful location in a private community. Bathrooms and a great beach area. People were snorkeling and swimming. Great find.

Cherisse P — Google review
This is a gated beach and both times we tried the parking was full 4th time in the way to airport we finally got it!! It’s totally worth the attempts, they have only ~17 parking spots. it’s very beautiful. Looks like a steep deep beach today meant for those very comfortable in the ocean water. The sand gets very hot, wearing the water shoes can be useful. They close before sunset. It was a very windy day and there was choppy water warning everywhere.

Beach
Located within the Waikoloa Resort area, ʻAnaehoʻomalu Beach offers a genuine Hawaiian experience with its coconut tree-lined shores and ancient fish ponds. This family-friendly beach is perfect for swimming, snorkeling, and leisurely walks along its white sandy stretch. While it can get busy, the spacious palm grove provides ample shade for relaxation.
Chill beach located directly in front of the Marriott Beach Resort. It’s not a huge stretch of beach but it’s typically not very crowded. There’s a hut where you can rent beach equipment and they have a store of beach supplies as well.
Matt P — Google review
Not the biggest but still a very pretty and unique beach with calm waters & no big waves. Beautiful sunset scenery, especially if you walk on the path behind the fish pond & see the reflection in it, surrounded by palm trees. Toilets available and an easy walking path too.
Janina — Google review
Gorgeous beach on the west coast of Big Island, with crystal clear water and many sightings of turtles. It’s easy to see turtles swimming and floating calmly near the shore. The waves are low, there is a shower and changing rooms and it’s a perfect place for families.
Tommaso B — Google review
05/09/2025 (Fri) The water near the beach was warm and had a decent number of fish, but it wasn’t very clear. We enjoyed snorkeling in that area for a while, but when we headed farther south (to the left when facing the ocean), the waves were a bit stronger. Still, we had an incredibly exciting experience as we encountered more and more sea turtles—eventually seeing over nine of them. Some were swimming, others were eating, and a few swam right toward us and passed by just inches away. It was truly a thrilling time. We mostly recorded videos of the sea turtles, but since that spot was much farther south from the main beach area, I posted the rest of the turtle videos under Anaehoʻomalu Bay.
Yulily — Google review
We visited this beach twice during a week long stay at the Hilton Vacation Club in September 2024. Plenty shady spots under the palms if that's what your looking for. Arrived before lunch and it was not crowded. The location makes for calm water that's nice for snorkeling. Did see a sea turtle swim very close while in the water near the shore.
Deanna W — Google review
Always a great play to play in the sand and surf. Lots to see snorkeling, shady trees for resting, live music from the nearby bar. This beach and bay can't be beat! Even the locals turtles love it as much as we do :-)

A small beach with palm trees and rocks, with a public restroom on site. There is free parking nearby. For swimming, I recommend bringing water shoes.
MARYNA R — Google review
Overrated, period. I’ve been to this beach 3-4 times over the years—and it’s never a good experience. The winds cause blowing sand. The snorkeling sucks. The sand is like concrete in places and gritty. It’s nice to have a some services though limited. Other local beaches are so much nicer.

The pacific rim restaurant A-Bay's Island Grill is a casual place that offers tapas, entrees, and local beer on tap. The patio is roomy and the food is reasonably priced.
Big tvs in the restaurant..there is bar seating and tables as well as outside seating. Large bay windows that open. Burger was tasty. Fries were a little over cooked. But Brian my waiter was awesome

05/05/2025 (Mon) We had dinner at A-Bay Island Grill, a restaurant located inside Kings’ Shops at the Waikoloa Beach Resort. We ordered #7 Longboard ($5), #13 Overboard IPA ($5), #17 Kua Bay ($3), A-Bay's Mai Tai ($10), Caesar Salad ($14), Korean Mix Plate ($32), and Loco Moco ($22+ extra gravy $2). The location is popular with tourists and had a decent atmosphere. Despite the crowd, the outdoor seating area had plenty of space between tables, allowing us to enjoy our meal without feeling cramped. The Caesar salad was tasty, but the Korean meat on the mixed plate lacked depth in flavor. The Loco Moco was just okay — not bad, but nothing to rave about either. While the menu wasn't particularly extensive, we happened to be there right at the transition between lunch and dinner, during happy hour, so we had a good range of options. One downside was that our outdoor table was near a walkway where someone passed by smoking, and the smell occasionally drifted over. Although nothing about the food or ambiance stood out as exceptional, A-Bay Island Grill still provided a laid-back setting for a pleasant evening meal.😊✨

Breakfast was absolutely top-tier and among the best I've ever had. Probably the only complaint was the automatic gratuity for 6 adults and a child. Allow me to tip on my own... otherwise on point!

My fish sandwich was good. But my beer was warm and the dish “loco moco” hamburger patties with rice and gravy is absolutely nasty hahah don’t order that. But honestly, the vibes are great, and the music was really good too. I’d go back, but next time I’ll probably try the chicken wings or something.
Jhenifer A — Google review
This is one of the popular spots in the area because it’s one of the only restaurants in the area. The poke was absolutely delicious but I felt that it needs two more wonton chips! The chips were perfect with the poke but just not enough. The shrimp egg rolls were crazy good!! Highly recommend those! The mustard sauce could be removed from the plate and I wouldn’t be mad though. Didn’t pair well with the rolls in my opinion but to each their own. The Korean bbq mixed plate was decent. The fried Korean chicken it came with was TERRIBLE!!!! It was fried skin basically but was supposedly chicken thigh. There was no thigh to be found. It was just a sodium packed fried piece of skin. The beef alongside it was good though. The desserts were both super rich and mouth watering leaving me wanting more!! The cheesecake had a nice thick crumbly crust and the sauce was paired very well with it. Lots of flavor! The lava cake and ice cream were similar to any lava cake at most restaurants but good nonetheless.

So. Being in Big Island Hawaii the atmosphere is already great. Having a bright spot with big windows to get the sun and views of the shopping center just made it that much better. The service was amazing and waitress checked up on us every 5-8 minutes to make sure we had refills and if see if we needed anything. She was able to explain all the menu items to us which made ordering something a bit tougher since everything sounded good after that. Ended up getting the Korean mix plate which sounds simple enough if you look at it on the menu. But eating it was a completely different experience, the flavor and crisp of the chicken was perfect. There was no part of the chicken that was bland or dry at all and mixed well with the rice. The short ribs that came with the Korean mix plate were made perfectly. Tender all the way through and the sweet and salty marinade they used for it was in every single bite. Also tried the hawaiian painkiller. If you like creamy alcoholic drinks especially with rum. Then this should be pretty high on your "Try it" list. The rumours is smooth with no burn and the cream flavor is amazing. The kimchi and macaroni sides are well made as well and will surprise you on the different but great flavor profiles you're used to for macaroni and potato salad and kimchi. Wish I could've tried the rest of the menu, but so far from these two items I've tried, I'm going with 5 stars all the way and will be eating there again.

We had a great experience at A-Bay’s in Waikoloa. Our server was extremely quick, attentive, and friendly, which made the visit even better. The food is a bit pricey, but that's to be expected in this area of the Big Island, and everything we ordered was done well. The atmosphere isn’t fancy—more of a relaxed sports-bar vibe with plenty of TVs to watch the games—but overall it was a solid and enjoyable dining experience. Would definitely return!

Roy's Waikoloa Bar & Grill is a high-end chain restaurant that offers a contemporary setting and serves Hawaiian fusion cuisine created by notable chef Roy Yamaguchi. The menu changes seasonally and features a blend of Japanese, Hawaiian, and European influences.
Our final meal in Kona was at Roy's and it was fabulous! Julian was our server and he was friendly, helpful, had a great energy, and was full of Aloha! We had a great view. The chocolate cake for dessert was just as good as the dinner. We cannot say enough about Julian and how much we enjoyed our last night on the island. We will definitely be going back and recommending it to everyone we know who does go! 🤙🏼

We have a terrible experience at that night, first, the food was actually good. However, the service was extremely disappointing and ruined the overall experience. After dinner, we placed an order for dessert, but it never came. We waited for an entire hour, only to find out that our server never even put in the order. Even worse, the server disappeared after taking the dessert order, and no one else checked on us or asked if we needed anything. We were just left sitting there, completely ignored. Eventually, we gave up, asked for the check, and discovered the oversight. It’s a shame because the food deserves better service to match.

We had an exceptional dining experience from start to finish. Our server, Nicole (Nikkie), was wonderful, ensuring we felt well taken care of. The culinary execution was flawless; my steak was prepared to a perfect rare, and my wife's meatloaf was remarkably "spoon-cut" tender. The ambiance was truly special, with the tranquil pond view and island reggae music creating a surreal and relaxing environment. This establishment has earned our highest recommendation, and the great service was deserving of a generous tip.

What an amazing restaurant! The staff are friendly, and do their best to make your dining experience better. We wanted to privately celebrate at Roy’s after my sister’s wedding. I spoke to the staff(Tom) two hours before our reservation and the kitchen prepared us a platter of delicious desserts perfect for the occasion. I had the kampachi and shrimp plate and the dish was balanced well. The fish and shrimp were perfectly cooked, the flavors and aromas of the sauces and side dishes complimented each other perfectly. If you want a great dining experience, I recommend Roy’s. Thank you Tom and the rest of the staff for the wonderful hospitality.

I had an amazing experience at Roy’s. The service was incredible. Everyone was extremely friendly and food was served at a great pace. Our server, Ana, was incredible. I am gluten free and the server checked with the kitchen on my allergies and asked about my celiac disease, so I was incredibly confident in my dish. There were also a variety of different dishes that were gluten free including ribs, fish, and steak. I got the Hawaiian fish and shrimp and it was tasty! Other members at the table enjoyed the chicken and filet and both were delicious. Someone else got the meatloaf, which is a signature dish, and said it was also tasty. Doesn’t seem to be a bad dish on the menu. We also got 2 chocolate molten soufflés, which other party members said was amazing. This dish was not gluten free, but my server went above and beyond and brought me my own gluten free dessert which was delicious and so unexpected! Would definitely recommend Roy’s as it has great service, tasty food, and a nice atmosphere.

Roy’s has served consistently good Hawaiian fusion cuisine for a long time. We love its Miso butterfish, fresh catch, and seasonal specials. If you get here between 4:30-5:30 pm, you can order the “Golden Hour” special for 2 for $99 (shared appetizer, 2 entrees, shared dessert)-great value for a delicious meal for 2. For dessert, the Ube lava cake was the best. Julian, our waiter, was attentive and funny.

One of the best meals and dining experiences my husband and I had in Waikoloa. Wish we had found this restaurant earlier in our trip because we definitely would have come back here for additional meals during our vacation. A-mazing food, great service, and a waterfront view. We ordered the pork chop and macadamia encrusted white fish with cheese risotto. My husband described to our server a drink he had at another restaurant during our trip and the bar made it. Mai Tai was also delicious. Each table was given seasoned edamame just after being seated. We received a free dessert for our 25th wedding anniversary. Reservation recommended but not necessary.

Aloha EVERYONE! We came here 5/8 for our family tradition when we visit Hawai'i. THIS is one of our go too spots. We made a reservation on a Wed night. When we arrived not alot of people were there, around sunset & before the drunks arrive. They sat us downstairs so to speak by the window. As you can see in the pics we got spring rolls(AMAZINGLY good), Mac nut white fish & another type of fish, sorry forgot the name of it lol. Our server was nice, he paid attention to details we wanted/needed or fixed. It was decently loud but you can still talk. The food is always good, its pricey but everyone needs to understand that when visiting the island. 10/10 for me

Restaurant
Nui Italian is an open-air dining room located within a resort hotel, specifically at the Hilton Waikoloa Village. The restaurant offers a selection of Italian cuisine, including freshly stone-fired pizzas and handmade pastas. While the penne primavera is known for its pleasing flavors, the pizza crust is particularly noteworthy. Reservations are encouraged, and walk-ins are accepted based on availability. Additionally, group reservations for parties larger than 5 are available with a cancellation fee policy in place.
We are staying on property and there is only 1 option for room service from 5-9pm, Nui. But gosh is it delicious! We ordered the Margherita pizza and the spaghetti and meatballs and they were both spectacular! Those meatballs were so juicy and flavorful! The pasta is prepared in a way that makes it drier than what I am used to, but the delicious sauce and meatballs made up for it! My only complaint about the pizza is that I would love more basil, but that is just me. We also got the risotto and sadly we cannot recommend it. It was hard as a rock by the time it arrived and the flavor of Parmesan completely overpowered the dish. We also had tiramisu for dessert and wow was that good! It came in this cute plastic cup and it really hit the spot! The entire meal was delicious! We will eat there during our stay!

Great location at the resort. Sunset was beautiful while dining. The pizza was delicious, I had the pepperoni honey chilli one. The chicken parm with spaghetti was ok. The spaghetti was really good. Service was slow after we received the food for refills and to get the check. I believe this was due to more guest arriving. Do not get the cannolis they are bad, really bad. The picture is how we left them. Couldn’t take another bite. Good bye $16.
Mr. E — Google review
Pizza was delicious and the carbonara was okay. Service was not great and the atmosphere was not great since there’s kids on tables, crawling all over the floor, running around, screaming. It is on a resort so that makes sense but if you’re looking for a quiet romantic, nice dinner place, this is not it. It’s also quite expensive, pastas over $40.
Cara O — Google review
I am honestly shocked at how many negative reviews Nui received - it honestly made me a bit nervous to try, however when you fly in late and it's one of your only options unless you want to leave the resort complex, you opt for convenience. My husband and I both ordered pizzas, I ordered a traditional Neo and my husband a Roman style - we were both blown away! The crust was outstanding - chewy and delicious and the sauce combined with the toppings was absolutely delicious. I also enjoyed a Limoncello martini (or two) and those were also outstanding. Our server, Manuel, was kind, courteous, and friendly. If you're staying at the Hilton "complex" I highly recommend you give it a try - we loved it!
Kristin K — Google review
Prosciutto pineapple thick Roman crust pizza was expensive but tasty, just too much bread crust. Menu says we could order 1/2 but waitress said no. I had a glass of pinot noir that was excellent, service was excellent, dessert disappointed as it was a tiramisu in a glass and was more like a chocolate mousse with a devolved sponge cake of two bites. Chef should do better for the price. Sitting outside was beautiful at sunset, but disappointed by the flying insects that were pesty. One pizza, one glass of wine, one dessert, tip $90+ so in conclusion not what was expected more disappointing. The menu needs a few basic dishes and less pretentious. There will always be a walk to this restaurant.

We did not make a reservation and only hat and short wait about 5 min for a table for 2 ar 730pm. Relaxing upscale but casual island dining. Great wine selection and pasta portion was enough to have leftovers.
AnnMarie H — Google review
1st time here. Had chicken parmesan and spaghetti. The chicken was cooked well and the sauce was very good - that says a lot since I am Italian. The spaghetti was good, but some of the pieces felt like it was just a little undercooked, but overall, it was a good experience. The pricing was a little high but expected due to the location. The dinner was $42, and the tea was $4.

We went to Nui for my husband's birthday dinner, and it was a wonderful experience from start to finish. The staff and our server Sheryl was absolutely amazing, kind, attentive, and incredibly knowledgeable about gluten-free options. They took the time to explain what was gluten-free and what was dedicated gluten-free, which gave us such peace of mind. Their recommendations were spot-on. My husband had the penne pasta with marinara sauce, which he loved, and I had Nona’s meatballs—absolutely superb! The flavors were rich and comforting, and everything felt thoughtfully prepared. To top it all off, the staff surprised us by singing Happy Birthday, which made the night even more special. We couldn’t have asked for a better way to celebrate. Thank you, Nui

Day 3

East side of town
For day 3, we recommend exploring the east side side of town. Start the day off with Legends of Hawaii Luau, then wind down and take it easy by the time you get to Dolphin Quest. All together, your day would be filled with about 8 hours of non-stop fun.

The Legends of Hawaii Luau, held at the Hilton Waikoloa, is a popular choice in Waikoloa due to its convenient location and daily schedule. The luau offers a buffet of local Hawaiian specialties, including vegan options like white rice, steamed vegetables, marinated tomato and seaweed salad, and plenty of fruit for dessert. Guests can also enjoy free alcoholic drinks but may need to wait in line at the bar.
Wonderful experience! The staff was welcoming and kind, and they provided us with a lay or shelled necklace upon check-in with a photo available for purchase. The MC was so entertaining and fun to learn from. They taught us different words and phrases and provided background on the story of the songs meaning before they would preform. The variety of food offerings was amazing, super delicious with some authentic Hawaiian options that were fun and new to try! Unlimited beverages included and they had a variety of cocktails to choose from that all enjoyed. Lots of photo worthy moments and ways for the audience to be involved. Would highly recommend!

I can only give this experience 3 stars due to the lack of organization getting people in and seated. We stood for about 1hr in the sun waiting to be seated all after waith a half hr to check-in because they changed the check-in time and did not send out an updated email! Who does this! Otherwise once it started the entertainment was excellent they get 5 stars. Food was good.
Eric R — Google review
We had a wonderful experience at this Luau. The food and drinks were delicious. The performances were excellent, very entertaining and we also enjoyed learning the history of the island. I would recommend paying extra for the better seats. It was worth the extra cost.
Kristin J — Google review
Phenomenal! The talent wrapped with history and guest engagement was incredible. The dancers and performers are wonderful and waitstaff as well. Worth doing the Ali’s VIP. They pick up as you go and bring you drinks, very on top of the needs as the night continues. Plus you get dedicated check in line. Worth every penny and we haven’t talked about the food yet! Everything you could want from many meats and fish to salads, sides and desserts that are staples of Hawaiian cuisine. Delicious, entertaining and excited for another!
Michael S — Google review
Service was top notch, lots of food options, unlimited drinks. The luau itself was spectacular. Must see! You can take pictures with the crew after the show.
Jessica O — Google review
Buyer beware, false advertising. The place advertised is being remodeled. The current set up is temporary but still costs the same. Not only do we wait forever to get in and seated, we set facing a stage in front of a building. This has no beach view, nor anywhere close to seeing the beach. The entertainment was non existent, and provided no ambience or performance energy whatsoever. Please don’t waste your money.
Jennifer M — Google review
We attended the Legends of Hawaii Luau and overall had a fun evening, though there were a few hiccups. Due to construction at the original venue, the location was moved to a different area near the lagoon. While still scenic, it didn’t offer any beach or sunset views that we were hoping for. Entry was a bit of a hassle—we were in general seating and had to wait in a long line for about 20 minutes before getting to our seats. That part could definitely be managed better. That said, once things got going, the performances were great! The dances, live music, and storytelling were engaging and well done, and the host kept the energy up throughout the night. The fire show at the end was absolutely fantastic—a real highlight! Food was unlimited and there were plenty of options for everyone, including kids. While the main dishes were decent but not standout, the desserts were delicious and definitely a high point. Overall, it was a good luau experience—entertaining and family-friendly—but it could have been better with a smoother check-in process and a more scenic setting.
Vishwas B — Google review
"Meh" is the best I can give this experience. We paid for the Ali'i seating - $250/pp! - and that basically lets you stand in line earlier - literally you stand in line for 30 until they let you in to sit at the nearer tables. The food and drinks were fine, but out of the "3 hour experience" you're spending 2 hours at a massive buffet experience, and the show doesn't start until 8pm by which point you're so stuffed that you just want to go to your room already. While the dancers were good, the show was maybe 45 minutes and you learned very little about HI. It was more of a touristy experience with an MC and three guitar players, which was definitely not worth the money. I'd avoid completely - or at best, just get the general seating and don't overpay like we did.

Swim with Dolphins
Dolphin Quest in Waikoloa offers a variety of programs that allow visitors to interact with charming dolphins. The attraction provides opportunities to hold, touch, and even feel the heartbeat of these amazing creatures. Knowledgeable trainers share interesting facts about the resident dolphins while guests participate in fun interactions. Visitors can choose from different experiences such as Wee Tots and Encounter Deluxe, both offering fantastic encounters with 2-3 dolphins and engaging activities.
Total bucket list experience!!! Swimming with the dolphins was a highlight of our trip to Hawaii. These animals were amazing, intelligent, and gentle. They are cared for very well by the trainers here, and have a beautiful, natural, safe enclosure. We learned a lot. Each dolphin had their own fun personality. Loved it!!! We brought our own goggles, which was nice 👍🏻 They provide the ones with covered noses if needed.
Lindsey S — Google review
Excellent experience for kids and adults provided by world class professionals. When we arrived we lucked out with an upgraded room overlooking the dolphins. My daughter immediately drew to the view and asked about seeing them. As we planned her experience, the web site was useful. Read the instructions. Unlike some of the reviews, they specifically tell you to be there 30 minutes early for life preserver and dive mask fitting. This is mandatory. They also provide you some informative facts about their dolphins and the history of this site. If you can’t swim, no problem. They provide activities with dolphins in waste deep water but if you can swim, you’ll get the chance to swim with them. Digital photos were expensive but we took lots of pics with our phones as their staff took pics with quality cameras. Highly recommend for anyone.

The dolphin experience was so amazing and a once in a lifetime experience. All of the staff are exceptional and knowledgeable as well. The dolphins are very well taken care of and healthy too.

Such a fun wonderful experience for our 6yr old! She had a blast. The trainers were so kind with the littles. The dolphins rotated and gave her special memories that will last! I'm a veterinarian and take conservation seriously as well as acknowledging the high expectations this facility met with humane treatment of these beautiful animals. I felt comfortable allowing my child to experience this once in a life time interaction 🩷. Professional photos weren't really worth the $170 but they did capture the moment! Mahalo nui loa. Malama a hui hou kaua!

I visited at the end of October and the team could not have been better from the moment I called to set up my swim. When I initially called, Jayden answered the phone, then sent me over to Melissa to handle my specific needs. Upon my arrival, I met both Pat & Melissa herself, who were very welcoming. The dolphin training team was stellar, me mostly working with Patrick and Madi, but I also met Grace, Jessica, two Ashley’s, Krista, Kara, Kelly, Tanner, Erin, Stephanie. I am probably missing a few names but I did meet almost all the team in the two days I got the privilege of being there. I COULD NOT be more impressed, this is a facility I would definitely recommend to anyone because of their world class care as well as guest experiences. Keep up the amazing work!
Alexis B — Google review
Nice experience however it's a bit heartbreaking. The water is so shallow it's hard to believe the dolphins are happy and able to flourish in that environment. But it's a nice sight nonetheless.
Vernitra C — Google review
Amazing Experience! Dolphin Quest Hawaii was incredible! The staff were friendly and knowledgeable, and the dolphins were amazing to interact with. You can really tell they care about the animals and conservation. It was fun, educational, and unforgettable — a must-do in Hawaii!
Ryan C — Google review
The dolphins are beautiful, and the setting itself is nice, but the overall experience is disappointing. No one announces when the dolphin show will actually take place, so guests are often left waiting around or asking staff for details. When the show finally starts, it lasts barely 10 minutes—hardly worth the wait or the buildup. For the price and the hype, the experience feels underwhelming.

Nestled within the stunning Hilton Waikoloa Village, Lagoon Grill offers a delightful dining experience that combines casual fare with breathtaking views of a dolphin lagoon. As you savor delicious burgers, hot dogs, salads, and sandwiches, you can enjoy the playful antics of resident dolphins swimming nearby. The menu also features refreshing tropical cocktails and smoothies that perfectly complement your meal. The atmosphere is relaxed yet vibrant, making it an ideal spot for lunch or an early dinner.
Love hanging out here and their breakfast buffet is amazing. Get there early on Thursdays they bring the dolphins out and talk about their training and care! Well worth it and well worth paying extra for a beach cabana, snorkeling is great! Probably want to buy snorkeling gear and sunny lotion at Walmart or somewhere else the prices were high at the resort.

Great service and great atmosphere (watch the dolphins play while you eat) but the food is subpar, especially for the price. I had the fish tacos ($24) and instead of a fillet of fish, they served chopped up fish which were clearly scraps. The fish was very fishy too, to the point where I couldn’t eat it.
Danielle M — Google review
We visited twice 1st time was later in the afternoon and food was okay. Chips were a little on the stale side but we didn't complain we were excited to seat ourselves at an open table in the lower section by the water and watched the dolphins. Our 2nd visit was for an early lunch 11:15 just after they opened and the Loco Moco was a fantastic recommendation from our server. Fun fact if you are not a bird person this isn't the place for you lol

Nice place, casual food and fast service. We ordered two kids meal: fish tacos and chicken with fries, and a poke salad. The salad was nice and fresh, the kids meal was too big for young kids but tasty and fresh. Service was fast and nice
Lucy A — Google review
We are currently staying at the hotel and so far this is our favorite restaurant on property. At least for the price! We have eaten there twice now and the food was awesome both times. Plus there is plenty of shaded seating and views of the dolphins too! But just to warn you, whatever they bread their fries with, it is addictive! We can’t get enough of them! We tried their club sandwich and the Japanese milk bread which they use is something special. It’s thick, moist and sweet so it adds this amazing flavor to the sandwich. We also got the fish tacos (forgot to get a picture) and they were absolutely loaded with fresh fish and the papaya added such a delicious sweetness! They also have a pretty good kids menu so my daughter was able to grab her usual grilled cheese and fries. She said it was good! She also had her eye on the turtle chocolate cake for dessert and it did not disappoint either. It wasn’t too heavy, the inside was almost frozen, plus that layer of chocolate mouse on top…it was so good to finish off the meal with an icy cold dessert! The second time we ordered the burger, the spicy chicken sandwich and the club sandwich again. The burger is amazing! Wow, we ordered it medium and it was juicy, high quality beef. We were just missing pickles!! But the server was happy to grab us a few. The spicy chicken sandwich was smoky hot! It tasted like chipotle chili pepper and I was there for it!! Coleslaw on top cooled it down nicely too. We also got the dynamite fries and if you like an eel sushi roll, this tastes a lot like that, except with fries. It’s sweet and creamy. And don’t underestimate the house salad with papaya dressing. I could bottle it up! I learned they make all of their dressings in house too! We will be eating there again while we are here. It’s not cheap, but nothing here is and the food is fantastic and it comes out fast! Just don’t walk away from your food! We watched a few unsuspecting families turn their backs on their food and the birds swooped in like vultures and stole it all! LOL

Overall review of Lagoon Grill located at Hilton Waikoloa Village within the resort. Excellent atmosphere and location right next to the Dolphin Quest and Lagoon swimming area. Plenty of seating where you can eat at and be served dine-in style or you can order takeout at the bar. Ate here twice and service is amazing and quick! From ordering to eating was about 5 minutes and the amount of food did not matter. Food temperature was hot and everything seemed fresh. The waiting staff were attentive and helpful with all questions. The prices are steep, but it is great food at a great resort. When coming to the big island, I will for sure be staying here and enjoying the food this place has to provide 👌🏾

Justen was an absolutely amazing server! From the moment we sat down, he made us feel welcome and taken care of. He had fantastic recommendations, especially helping us navigate the menu with gluten-free restrictions, which made our dining experience stress-free and enjoyable. He also suggested some great drinks that perfectly matched our tastes. Kamuela Provision Company is an upscale surf 'n' turf restaurant located at Hilton Waikoloa Village, offering a romantic patio with stunning views of the coastline. The restaurant focuses on Pacific Rim flavors and locally sourced ingredients, offering a three-course set menu and optional wine pairings. Diners can enjoy refined yet unpretentious Pacific Rim-influenced cuisine while taking in sweeping ocean views and dramatic island sunsets.
The most beautiful sunset dinner. Food was superb and atmosphere was romantic. I had the Ahi and my husband had the spicy pork chop. The pork chop was one of our favorite things we ate all trip. We also had the mango shrimp appetizer and the bananas foster a la mode for dessert. Delicious!!!!

The view is spectacular and you can sit outside and watch the sunset with dinner. The food is good, but way overpriced. Most expensive steak I have ever had, ever. It was good, but not the best. Service was just fine.

High end, signature restaurant at the Hilton Waikoloa. Fresh local seafood. Was surprised that they did not serve local Big Island beef, but food and drinks and service were great and the ocean view, especially at sunset, are wonderful. Reservations are a must. There is no parking. You have to park up at main entrance to complex, either self or valet, and take tram. With drinks, starters, entree and dessert easily over $100 per person, plus tip.

Amazing location, nice food but I expected more from the food and service. Even when there’s a lot of places with beautiful views inside the resort, this restaurant’s terrace is the best spot to enjoy the sunset with a nice meal. We got two adult menu that included entree/main course/dessert and bread; and two from kids menu. The place was not too busy but the service was somewhat slow, the food was perfectly cooked and hot, shishito peppers entree were delicious and fish main course tasty. Deserts a little underwhelming.

The ambience of this restaurant was absolutely amazing. It was a nice breeze. It’s very well lit, but you get to enjoy the outside and the sound of the waves while you enjoy your meal. My husband and I were on our 29 year, 36 years together anniversary vacation. We dined here for our anniversary. We had a 6:30 dinner reservation and were seated promptly by a nice hostess. My husband was promised a table right along the beach line, but we were not. He told them that as we were being seated. She said they had to switch tables with someone else. No reason given. That was disappointing. We were seated out side but not as promised on the beach line. We had an extremely nice and attentive server named Alfredo. He took the time to go over the specials and the menu. My husband really enjoyed his seafood. It was fresh and cooked perfectly. I ordered the chicken. It was a bit dry, but not terrible. You have to pay $12 for a bread basket. I think that's a little ridiculous. Any high end places we have ever eaten at, they give you a bread basket at no charge. The bread was very good though. Overall, it was a lovely evening as they gave us a free lava cake to celebrate our anniversary which I thought was very nice. It is overpriced, but it is a nice place for a special occasion.

The waiter, Victor, was great, attentive, and quick. A friendly guy. The mahi mahi tacos were tasty, but the tortillas were cold. The pork sliders were fine, my wife said; and the kettle chips served with were tasty. I do have to say, however, that an Old Fashioned is supposed to have a Luxardo Cherry in it, and this one did not. Good for a late quick bite and some energetic music. :-)

Some of the worst service I've ever experienced. It was seat yourself so we sat on the patio and waited for 15 minutes before tracking down a waiter who proceeded to tell us it was inside only. Moved inside and waited another 15 minutes for a waiter. We'd of left if it weren't the only place open. When our salad and chips finally showed up it was the wrong salad but we dared not point it out and wait another 30 min for food. Extremely disappointed and wasted $50

Service was terrible, we waited 20 mins for water, she didn’t ask were we ready to order just dropped of the water and left. Waited to order maybe another 20 mins or so. Then waited for our food another 20+ mins. I wanted a drink but the waitress never came back until our food was ready and she just dropped it off and did not say anything, not your foods ready, not can I get you anything else, literally no words. And my food was cold! Waited for her to come check on us, which she never did, just asked about to go boxes. Needless to say I will not be back, ever!

Relaxing place to get a small bite and drinks. We quickly found a table on their patio as everything inside was taken. Fortunately the weather was not too hot and there was some shade from umbrellas and trees. The service was good, but food just OK. We timed it right to see a great sunset just before we left. Prices are typical for Hawaii.

Casual restaurant at the Hilton Waikoloa village which opens at 4:30 pm. There was a small but nice outdoor patio outside and an island, bar-style atmosphere inside. Table service was friendly enough. We had the chicken wings, poke nachos, and fries. The wings were pretty good but the poke nachos were a little off. An ok place to grab a beer or drink before or after dinner but I wouldn’t recommend making plans to eat here unless your strapped for places to go.

Food was good, hotel bar prices and small selection though. Service was great and beers were tasty.

Day 4

Proximity is everything
For day 4, we bundled attractions like Waikoloa Beach Resort Golf and Waikōloa Anchialine Pond Preservation Area and other places within a close range, so that the time it takes to travel between all of them is less than one hour. Combined with the average time people spend there, your day should take about 8 hours.

Waikoloa Beach Resort Golf

Golf course
Waikoloa Beach Resort Golf is a top-notch golf destination on the Kohala Coast, offering 27 premier holes divided into the Beach Nine, Kings Nine, and Lakes Nine. The courses provide stunning views of the rugged coast and palm trees. Additionally, visitors can explore the Waikoloa Petroglyph Preserve to witness ancient rock carvings and enjoy hiking trails amidst natural beauty. Recent reviews highlight the excellent course conditions and friendly staff.
Never played the Waikoloa Beach Resort Golf, so wasn’t sure what to expect. The rates were much cheaper than on Kauai, and some of the holes were right on the ocean here. Paid inside the modern clubhouse, grabbed a cold one, and headed to the range. We promptly headed out to the first hole which was backed up by a foursome of beginners - and I mean beginners - it was like Ray Charles giving the other guy and 2 women lessons on every hole. We felt bad for the couple in front of us, having to wait for them. We skipped a hole, and play was wide open the rest of the holes. Very scenic holes, especially down by the ocean, but it was really windy while we played that late morning. The greens were fair, the fairways green, and it was well worth the money spent. The nice advantage of playing the back 9 was the ability to stop at Tropics - where we spent Sunday morning watching NFL games - to grab a cool one, and head back out on the course. After golf, we headed inside the clubhouse and grabbed lunch - Originally being from Wisconsin, I had the fish and chips, which was just a great meal! Made from wahoo, it was super delicious. The rest of the group had sandwiches, and sponged off my meal. I cant let the group of beginners bring the rating down, so I am giving Waikoloa Beach Resort Golf a solid 5 star rating. Would play this course again if we ever head back, you should too.

Great course, good value, highly recommend. We played the beach 9 and the kings 9. The beach course has more ocean views but Kings course has some pretty holes too. The pro shop has a ton of selection and logo items at reasonable prices. Space of play was quick, well under 4hrs. Be sure to checkout Mai Grille at the club house, one of the best food spots/restaurants on the island in my opinion.
Viren P — Google review
Had a great round of golf here with my daughter. They have a great family golf deal after 3pm with rental clubs included. The course was overall in decent condition for the average golfer. It is beautifully situated. If you get a chance to play the Beach course, hole 6 is amazing, right on the ocean. We played the Kings course which was nice especially for a below average golfer like myself. Not too challenging. Super nice staff too!
Benton B — Google review
Excellent value resort golf. Very friendly staff from the clubhouse to the starter who was very helpful. Although there's only one "ocean hole" there are great views and volcanic rock on just about every hole. Rental clubs are Cobra's and they were in good condition. Conditions are good, not great, but if you want great on the big island you're paying almost double what you'd pay here. I'd play here again next time I visit.
Trevor H — Google review
This is truly a wonderful place to golf. The courses have great views. Hole 6 on the Beach Nine is amazing right against the ocean. Best of all is the hospitality of the staff. From the clubhouse to the outside services, they're great!
Matt J — Google review
Waikoloa has three 9-hole courses to choose from. We played the King's and Beach course. Both courses were beautiful and the Beach course will take you near the beach with some nice views. The course was well maintained. The course does appear to be wide open, but you do need to look ahead as there are obstacles and OB out there. Tee boxes: The tee boxes were good with lots of grass, not sandy. There are a few holes that have elevated tee boxes. Fairways: The fairways were pretty nice, it is summer so the grass does get a little dry, the rolls farther. There is some undulation on the fairways so don't be surprised if the ball kicks left or right. It is the Big Island, so expect to see a lot of lava rocks on both sides of the fairways on some holes. There are also OB on other holes, trees, bushes and open dirt areas that you can't get to. Expect to see dog legs left and right and a few holes there is water. The Rough: These areas can get a little thick, so fairway is where you want to be. It's not so thick that it closes or opens your club face much. Greens: The greens rolled smoothly and did not see weeds, different grasses or bald spots. They were a little fast, probably due to being a little dry during the summer months. There is some undulation, but not a crazy amount. We still had a few birdies and able to make some longer putts. Look ahead as you get closer to the greens, there are drop offs at the edge on some of them. Most of the greenside bunkers are not deep, but they are wide. The good news is that there was sand in them to make a good bunker shot. Amenities: -Driving Range: they do have a driving range on property and with a round there is complimentary balls to warm up with. There is also a shot game area to practice -Putting green: it's a nice putting green next to the club house to get the feel of the course. Carts: the carts do not have GPS, so bring your own or range finder. -Restaurant: there is a restaurant here, but we did not partake on this trip. Staff: All the staff were helpful and really nice. The starter will give directions to the different courses on property. The club house staff will get you out as quickly as they can. Final thoughts: Great course to play, not the easiest course and you will still need to have good course management. But it was a fun course with some nice views. We will definitely come back on another trip, our time here was very enjoyable.
Mike G — Google review
Of the three 9's, I'd say Lakes is probably the best start to finish. Play Beaches for the one awesome ocean hole and a couple other memorable tracks. Kings is a nice contrast to the other two, but unfortunately a few of its best have been trimmed from the original 18. Good value only if you purchase the multi-round package or have access to other discounts. On course staff is always friendly and accommodating.
Jason P — Google review
Had a great experience golfing 18 holes. My wife is still learning so the Beach course was great, generous fairways and no wYwr hazards. But lots of sand and rock lava traps that still made it challenging. Pro shop was very accommodating; allowing us to play the beach nine twice instead of trying one of the other courses. Would definitely play again. Good rental gear as well.

Waikōloa Anchialine Pond Preservation Area

4.7
(168)
Nature preserve
The Waikōloa Anchialine Pond Preservation Area, located near the Hilton Waikoloa Village and maintained by the University of Hawaii, is a unique natural attraction. These lava rock pools are filled with brackish fresh and salt water, providing a habitat for small fish, mollusks, and shrimp. Despite being landlocked, these ponds have subterranean connections to the ocean through porous lava.
If you are looking to see Nene this is the perfect place to find some, but please give them respect and distance. Beautiful area and plenty of parking. The trail to the beach can flood during high tide, but just wade through. This beach is more of a walking area than for a swim.
Bridget W — Google review
We stayed across the road at a VRBO and decided to take a morning walk to check out the area. We were not disappointed! Such a unique setting with the volcanic rock, ponds and vegetation. The path connects up with the beach area where you can head north or south. We went north and wound up by the amazing Hilton resorts. We took quite a bit of time walking around these areas to check out the lagoon, pools, etc. All of it was stunning and I would highly recommend if you are out for a stroll and want to see more than just the ponds.
Joshua O — Google review
Great walk to the public beach right next to the Hilton. We saw lots of Nene feeding near the ponds and it was a nice walk to the beach. A little rocky, but enough spots on the coral sand. Very few people when we visited.
Roy B — Google review
Absolutely beautiful location. Great for a quiet walk or relax and sit under the trees. Stumbled upon a sea turtle basking in the sun. The small pools are full of fish that are fun to watch. There are Nene geese in the area also. Highly recommend if you're looking for a short easy hike with beautiful views.
Jason W — Google review
This is a special place to watch a sunset if you're staying in Waikoloa. There's a nice walk to the beach thru an ancient fish pond. Lots of spoiled feral cats too, I heard they have their own Instagram page.
Susan A — Google review
I love to admire the uniquely Hawaiian beauty of this area as I am walking the coast between Waikoloa beach and the Hilton resort. I have to say that the resort has done an outstanding job integrating it's guest houses and restaurants with the ponds in a way that does not retract from their natural splendor.
Michelle P — Google review
Cool part of western Hawaii you dont really see or hear about. Tucked away between a bunch of super elite condo/time shares (I guess) and hotels. Kinda ironic they're protected lands next to extremely wealthy properties that obviously built on top of similar land. Oh well, nice they're still there, pretty cool walk to the beach, along the coast south to A-bays marriot area or north to Hilton area.

My kid purchased a sweatshirt here in Hawaii because she thought it was cold. The store was sort of expensive, but the staff was very nice .

I got a swimsuit down with the hook because no one was available to help. A female employee with black hair then got mad and took the reacher stick from me and gave me a dirty look and had a bad attitude while telling me to let them know if I needed any help. She had a bad attitude and was rude because i got a swim top down without her help. No one greeted me or offered help when I entered the store so I didn’t think it’d be a problem for me to grab something myself since all of the employees were much to busy to help today. I left the swimsuit top on a lower rack and walked out without purchasing anything because why support any store who treats potential customers poorly?

I went into rip curl tonight and immediately got barked at by a women with long black hair that said in a scolding tone, SIR WE ARE CLOSED!, like I just walked past a big blinking sign or something that says closed. I walked out and just to make sure it wasn’t my imagination. I ask the people next to me, that was also coming out, if she was just that rude or was it me. They told me yes and thought she was very aggressive. Oh and I also checked my watch and it said 6:51. Didn’t know when they closed but it looks like it’s actually 7pm according to Google maps. I went down a couple shops and bought my shirts at Hulakai from a gentleman named Chris that was as nice as can be and it was a completely opposite experience.

I loved coming here 5/4. I needed a rashguard since you would think in the queen shops they would have some but because they're going out of business ripcurl was the only place I could go. The store is really nice inside, the lady/girl is really friendly, I found a rash guard for a reasonable price since I got severely burned. I hope this place stays open forever because I love all their stuff and they have these really cute pants ladies that are like white! I've never had a problem at the store. Very clean, friendly people, will help you with whatever you need. 5 out of 5, keep the store open I will keep buying! Mahalo

Shopped at the King’s Plaza Store in Waikaloa on Saturday, July 21, 2018. Young girl working there was very sweet and helpful. I watched her stay cool and nice to a customer (a man) that was being a bit “gruff” with her. She was very sweet to me. You have a good employee in her. Keep her.

First: playing Christian music. Thank you! Second: very helpful staff, my wife has a hard time with the perfect fit suit, and she found one that is great! Nestled along the stunning Kohala Coast, Kohala Coast Fine Art is a treasure trove for art enthusiasts and collectors alike. This gallery showcases an impressive array of works from talented island artists such as Alex Gupton, Clint Sloan, Steve Neill, Eric Tore, and Christina Skaggs. Each piece beautifully reflects the vibrant essence of Hawaii's culture and landscape.
Excellent customer service. The lady in the store patiently showed all the jewelry we wanted to see with detailed information about the artists and material. They have unique beautiful collection.

They found the piece I wanted, packaged it very carefully and mailed it to me. I got it today and I'm overjoyed. If you are a lover of art, stop by Kohala Coast Fine Art. Waikōloa Petroglyph Reserve is a must-visit site in Hawaii, featuring well-preserved petroglyphs that offer a unique glimpse into the region's history. The reserve, located near Waikoloa Kings Shops and just a short drive from Kailua-Kona, showcases various carvings including depictions of humans, birds, canoes, as well as enigmatic images with dots and lines.
This trail is a hike, wear comfortable shoes. We took an early morning walk and ut was a great way to start the day. You can take a detour about 3/4 of the way to shops, food or coffee. This trail goes all the way from the woakola suites resort to the ocean.
Linda J — Google review
One of the best and easiest places on the Big Island to see ki‘i pōhaku (petroglyphs). This large field of ancient rock carvings is tucked between a golf course and resort, yet it feels like stepping into another time. We walked here from the Hilton Waikoloa—an easy and rewarding trip. Bring water, wear good shoes, and take your time exploring the lava rock trails. It's incredible to imagine early Hawaiians carving their graffiti into stone. A peaceful and fascinating glimpse into the past.
Adam R — Google review
It's a bit tucked away by the golf course but definitely worth a stop to see. We had a hard time knowing which petroglyphs were authentic versus some of the more "modern" images, but I'd like to think at least some of them were actual ancient Hawaiian.
Natalie N — Google review
Not worth going out of your way to visit this place. On the other hand if you've stopped fro lunch at Roy's or to fill gas, walk over to the rocky strip in the middle of the golf course and see 500 years old stick figures etched on lava rock. Flip flops may be tricky as there is no paved path. In and out in 20 mins max.
Randy — Google review
Tough to actually follow the small trail (the map they have there is even more confusing) but just walk along a couple of the golf course roads and you'll see some petroglyphs. It's all in the sun so be prepared.
Steph C — Google review
It was so neat to see these rock carvings up close and personal. Park at the gas station by King’s shops. You will see the sign across the street from the gas station directing you to the field. The walk wasn’t bad at all. Once you get to the field, it is pretty treacherous so make sure you’re wearing good sturdy closed toe shoes. We love learning about history so we had a great experience. We stayed for an hour. It was pretty hot so we should’ve taken water with us but to see history was priceless! This is a free tour.
Valencia T — Google review
An interesting site. Took awhile to figure out where the glyphs were. We started by parking at the shopping center. The trail was not well marked. Had to walk w quite a bit before we found the glyphs. The tail is a bit rough but walkable. It is free to visit
Hari A — Google review
A little off the beaten path, but worth it. Expect to spend 10-30 min trekking the lava field looking for petroglyphs. They aren’t marked with signage, and so you traverse the field looking for markings. The site is sandwiched in the middle of a golf course, so it feels a little odd taking photos of a historical site, to end up with golfers & golf carts in the photo. The path is unstable and can be treacherous where you walk so I do not recommend for young kids, and it would be well advised to have closed-toe shoes. This is not a “must see” for the area, but definitely worth the stop if you’re in the vicinity.

So this place has to be one of the most incredible art gallery I have ever been to! The photo art is soooo awesome, you could go broke fast buying all these photos!!! And the prices are very reasonable!! Phil is an awesome tour guide through the store! He doesn’t just take the photos but he describes every photo with extreme detail and passion for his art!! His photography is stunning to say the least!!! In addition my wife practically has read one of Don’s whole books in just the last few days. Visiting the gallery and meeting Don was a big highlight of our Big Island vacation!!! 5 stars!

Visited our 2nd day on the island and came back our 2nd to last day to purchase one of the amazing photos. While I was originally bought in by the lava flows, I ended up purchasing a view I loved the most on the island. We were also given great directions on places to visit and we're treated with great kindness. We weren't pushed to buy. Everything, I feel, is very reasonably priced for the quality compared to the other galleries around. If we were richer I would've purchased more, but we will look into purchasing these metal prints in the future

Awesome place to find art for your home or condo. CJ is awesome! Full of knowledge about photography and all things of nature on the Big Island. He has even taken the time to come to our condo and hang the art that we bought from him.

One of the most beautiful and inviting galleries that we have been too. Even our 10 year old son was inspired. We were greeted by Don, who is a brilliant, talented and interesting man. We couldn't say enough about how thoroughly we enjoyed speaking with him. He explained how the gallery is made up of beautiful photographs from 3 artists (all of whom are beyond gifted). You can select the photography you would like to purchase and he will have it printed in the size you would like & an option to ship to you. Not only is this gorgeous art, but very reasonable priced and a unique story behind capturing each image. Don even has written several books and we purchased a beautiful "coffee table book" with stunning photographs from Hawaii. I can't think of any better way to cherish memories of Hawaii and bring back a piece of it's beauty. Thank you for the wonderful experience in your gallery Don

Love strolling through this gallery every chance I get. The photography is unique, shots you will not see in other galleries. Collectively, the photographers of this gallery capture nature's wonder in a breathtaking way. Hard to pick a favorite, I'd have to say some of my favorite are the lava flow pieces and the wildlife photography. It's lovely that the photographers are kind and willing to sit and share stories about their pieces and about this wonderful island. Pop in and visit them while you're here, you won't regret it!

What an amazing find! We were on the big island for our honeymoon and stopped into Lava Light while we were out for coffee. Phil was great to work with and very interesting to talk to. We must have stood there talking to him for over an hour over the course of three different trips to the studio. He even gave us some great tips on when and where to go see the lava. We ended up purchasing one piece and we are in the process of taking measurements for another that we will be ordering shortly. Thanks, Phil!

Genesis Galleries was a fantastic art gallery with a wide variety of paintings from Wyland and other top artists, including numerous originals. I was amazed by the diverse selection available in the shop. Vera, the owner, was extremely friendly and knowledgeable about the art and the artists, which made my experience of viewing the art and talking to her a true pleasure. I highly recommend this gallery to anyone interested in starting or enhancing their art collection. I was fortunate enough to purchase a Wyland original that will help me complete mine. 5 Stars only because I can’t give it 6.

Vera is an absolute gem! Two years ago I purchased a piece by George Aldrete from Genesis Galleries and had a seamless experience. This week I was back at the gallery with my sisters as I had my eye on another Aldrete, although it it was a little large for the space I have. Vera contacted the artist and he will be creating a smaller version of the artwork that will be the perfect companion to the one I already own. Vera’s vast knowledge and enthusiasm for artwork is contagious and she treats her customers like family. Thanks so much for working with me to bring another beautiful piece of art to my home.

My wife and I visited the gallery at Queens market place Waikōloa today and found an outstanding collection of art and jewelry items. The quality of items far exceeded any place we had been before. The staff was most helpful, very professional and knowledgeable about the art, artist and items in the shop. Well organized and stocked. I purchased a hand made knife for my collection. While there the owner, Vera Kirkpatrick introduced herself and then gave me great insight into the origin of my purchase as well as the artisan who created it. This kind of service is rare in my experience. My wife and I will recommend and be looking forward to our next trip this way. Highly recommend this shop. Randy and Lauri Skinner

Restaurant
Charley's Thai Cuisine, despite its American-sounding name, has become a beloved spot on the Big Island for delicious and affordable Thai dishes. The focus here is on the food rather than ambiance, with generous servings of authentic and spicy offerings like pad thai, pad see ew, and various curries. Located in a neat shopping mall near hotels, it offers standard Thai menu options with plenty of tofu choices.
Wow Wow Wow Ummm.... we were not going to eat here. We were headed to a Hawaiian place... BUT... I'm so glad my husband stopped to read the menu! We love Thai food but the reviews seemed skeptical. Naw. People are idiots for sure! We had... The curry (it was a special) (get this!) Cashew chicken Mahi Mahi (special) Short ribs Spring rolls I cannot remember the last dish. Anyway! All the dishes were amazing. Seriously amazing. Great flavor. There was one girl and she was hostess, server, bus boy. It was crazy. I'm sad we disnt find this place till our last day. We could have eaten here everyday. So good! The sauce with the Mahi Mahi was awesome. The curry had to be some of the best we've had. And the Cashew chicken had killer flavor too. MUST TRY!

Wow! Fantastic food, with minimal wait and reasonably priced 😘 After getting tired of spending 200$+ on most meals for 4 during our week long Hawaii trip, we stumbled upon this small corner restaurant for a dinner. The food was outstanding and the service was friendly and efficient. The Spicy Chicken stir fry and Pad Thai with shrimp was outstanding. The spring rolls, Panang curry and Green curry were superb with the jasmine and sticky rice. And all for under 80$ - really worth it.

Was quite surprised with the low rating, however reading the reviews made us try it. I’d give them a 10 if that was possible. The food was delicious. I had the chicken pad Thai and my husband had the pork fried rice. We ordered the spring rolls as an appetizer.

Stopped in one night for dinner. Friendly efficient service. They had two types of ice cold Thai beer. We ordered tofu Pad Thai and Green curry. The soup I had was in cup size which was perfect. The food was absolutely amazing. Ingredients were fresh, flavorful and delicious.! Spice levels are serious so consider ordering one notch down if you don't care for overkill.

Delicious food but be sure to check your food for HAIR. We brought this issue with our server and she totally ignored this icky disgusting problem. No one in the staff apologized. We still left her a 15% tip, would have given her 20% or more if she at least acknowledged the unappetizing extra side of follicle in our order.

First off, just remember your not in Thailand! With that being said……. I had a Thai friend with me, so I will try to give very honest and accurate review! The service here was excellent! The staff was very nice and helpful! The food came out fast, and the food was very fresh! That being said, if you are looking for authentic Thai food, go to Thailand! You are in Hawaii!!!!!!! It’s close enough! The Eggrolls were very good! I had fried rice with beef, I ordered medium spicy and there was no heat at all! 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️ My Thai buddy had stirfry vegetables and the temperature on it was very good very spicy, lots of flavor and pretty close to authentic! That being said, it would have been much better with chips and salsa, and a burrito! 🤣🤣JK!! I would not make this a destination stop, but if I where in the area, I would definitely eat here again! Remember, lighten up, hang loose you’re in Hawaii!! 🤙🤙🤙🤙

My dad enjoyed his pad Thai and my mum enjoyed her short rib but not the papaya salad. I I ordered the Thai fried rice with chicken wings. I was a bit disappointed as I was expecting the fried rice to be good. I am Asian thus I know what a good fried rice is the chicken wings was just a Cutlet and it is not well seasoned. To be fair we only ordred from their lunch express menu so I am.just basing my review on what I have ordered. The restaurant is clean and a bit spacious. The lady who took our order is also attentive and very efficient, (we went there at 11:00 they just opened and nobody was there) that's why our order was quick.

I have been to Charlies 4 times during my vacations to Kona. The place is very clean and the food is terrific. We had coconut shrimp and eggrolls for appetizer, which were huge. Then Pad Thai and Fried Rice. Very good all around. Plus this is a coke place, not pepsi, extra bonus there. Very easy to get in an out, go into the Queens Market, drive around the back and the entrance is midway between the food court and the supermarket. Plentiful parking under some beautifully trimmed trees to keep the heat away.

Seafood restaurant
Located in the Waikoloa Beach Resort in Waikoloa Village, Island Fish and Chips is a locally-owned restaurant specializing in fried seafood. With outdoor seating overlooking the lake, it's a great place to enjoy fresh fish and chips.
Ordered the fish tacos that came with chips and got a soft drink and just picked up my order and went out and sat on the it’s kinda like a porch area by the water for peaceful great lunch.

This place is a to go stand and directly across is a pavilion with tables and chairs. We tried three menu items. Coconut shrimp, fried fish, and fish tacos. The coconut shrimp was overcooked but had good flavor. The battered fish was cooked perfectly. Tartar sauce was mayonnaise heavy with some pickle. The pineapple slaw was interesting and different. The fish taco shell was cold and detracted from the hot fish. The sauce on the fish taco was too sweet. The French fries were OK.

We both had combo plates. I with fish chips and Tempura vegetables and her with shrimp , fries and Tempura fried vegetables. Was good served hot for a few minutes, but as it cooled tasted and re-tasted of old oil. Fish was great except it was 2 small fingers , I should say small as fish sticks even though I saw the cook batter, then drop into fryer the two pieces. There was at least 6 pieces of Hawaiian vegetables something tender red may have been a sweet potato, a purple?, orange another undefined and last green zucchini. One thin slick one thicker tastier. The shrimp combo had four small #20 fried shrimp. Pineapple coleslaw slaw was tasty. But small, the chips/fries hot and crispy but we did not finish them as they got cold not tasty, as they had after taste. I just wished I had just stuck with fish only as vegetables did not excite and I burped later.

Delicious fast food, a little bit expensive for fast food but everything was tasty and fresh. We had too wait about 30 min to get our food between the line for ordering and waiting to get the order done. Seating was difficult to find because it was too busy around dinner time. The place quiet and the gazebo has a nice view
Lucy A — Google review
Didn’t blow us away but decent fish and chips served fresh and hot. Fish was very tasty though they overcooked my wife’s coconut shrimp. For the price not surprised the coconut shrimp was also of the ‘came out of 5lb frozen box’ type but the fish seemed fresh. All this to say fish is a good bet but skip the calamari, shrimp, etc.
Alex B — Google review
We had fish tacos and the fish and chips. The fish was fresh! Great flavor. They also had a mango salsa, which was delicious. The outdoor seating in the gazebo is dreamy-right on the water. We enjoyed looking at the scenery, while enjoying our meal.

The reviews are spot on. One of the best fish & chips I have ever had in my life. Fresh fish catch of the day, freshly cooked crispy fries. Ladies cooking inside are super nice. Lots of outside seating tables with an awesome view. Highly recommended.

Mai Grille by Chef Allen Hess is a laid-back restaurant with a focus on locally sourced ingredients, offering a diverse menu that includes seafood, meat dishes, and brunch options. The service is top-notch, with attentive and friendly staff who go out of their way to make guests feel welcome. The restaurant's location within a private community provides stunning views of the golf course and Lava valley. Guests can enjoy their meals while taking in the beautiful surroundings, especially when seated outside on clear days.
Service was excellent and our waitress, Elizabeth, was friendly and super thoughtful. They were able to accommodate us, a party of 12 and greeted us by name. Poke Nachos are a must try and had plenty of super fresh fish. Burgers looked huge. Fried cooked perfectly crispy. Wings were a good portion to share. We asked for a poke bowl without the rice and they gladly said yes. Food and drinks were great here but we will mostly be back for the excellent service.

Located in a private community. The view on the golf course and Lava valley is gorgeous. Staff is friendly and courteous. As of April 2022 they still check your temperature before letting you in. Food is good. If there is no rain, ask them to be seated outside, it will give you an excellent opportunity to enjoy mild humid air breeze from the ocean and relax with a wonderful view.

Yes, it's expensive, but their pancakes were really delicious! I ordered Banana Brown Butter Pancakes with Bacon. The pancakes were moist and fluffy. They put just right amount of honey. I heard they make their own bacon. You have try their bacon! That was the best bacon I ever tasted! The portion is huge for one person. If you think $21 for breakfast is too much, then maybe you can share it with your friend or family. 😁

Arrived to a crowded entrance for Sunday brunch but didn’t have to wait long. Everything was delicious, super thick fluffy pancakes! The bacon was not quite what I was into with the barbecue sauce but it was thick and very good if that’s your flavor. Link sausage also delicious. Lava flow and Ola double ipa were excellent!

Do you like bacon? Eat here. Loco Moco is an 80/20 beef to bacon burger that is out of this world. The BLT has spicy mayo and is a great way to start the day. Be sure to add a side of bacon. You have to experience that on its own.
Matthew M — Google review
Great food with view. Limited breakfast menu but everyone in our party enjoyed what they had. Fresh squeezed OJ a must. Banana pancakes, stuffed papaya with yogurt and granola, and local sweet bread french toast.
Ann T — Google review
Good service. The food is excellent. The half pound bacon is the best. The BLT sandwich with the onion rings are a winner. It is a good place to enjoy a meal after a long round of golf. The restaurant is located in the clubhouse of the King's Land Golf Course.

Came here today to eat and on the door there is a sign saying that the restaurant shall be closed on Tuesday and Wednesday not on a website or google! Came back the next day and they were open. The food that we had was decent and the service has good. We really wanted the brunch but it was not meant to be.

Japanese restaurant
Sansei Seafood Steak & Sushi Bar is a trendy and vibrant eatery located in Waikoloa, offering a fusion of Japanese-Pacific Rim cuisine and creative sushi rolls. The restaurant caters to diverse tastes with its extensive menu featuring loaded sushi rolls, steak dinners, and other delectable dishes. Despite the upscale quality of its offerings, Sansei maintains a lively atmosphere that's perfect for weekend karaoke sessions.
Reservation at 5pm. Superb service by local lady that knows the specials menu by heart. Excellent high maka maka mule. We ordered too much good food ( see pictures ) Great for Waikoloa cuisine
Rosie Y — Google review
The sushi here is alright. Not the best, not the worst. The 69 roll and the Sansei roll were definitely tasty. The drinks were yummy. Desserts were so-so and IMO not worth it. Service is somewhat slow, not because the staff aren't trying, but they're always packed and overwhelmed. I highly recommend making a reservation or you may be waiting a long time for a table. For value, I'd give this 3/5 stars. It's expensive for the quality of the sushi, but given that it's one of the only sushi places in this area you have limited options (unless you want to drive into Kona).
Nick A — Google review
I recently dined at Sansei and had an exceptional experience! The highlight of my meal was the perfectly cooked steak, which was tender, juicy, and full of flavor. The presentation was elegant, and the ambiance of the restaurant added to the overall dining pleasure. The service was top-notch, with attentive staff who made sure every detail was perfect. If you're looking for a fine dining experience with outstanding food, Sansei is the place to go. Highly recommended!

Our waiter did the best they could but the restaurant was understaffed. The food ranged from average to poor, both in presentation and quality. If you're expecting genuine Japanese food, definitely avoid. Not good value. Disappointing. We had 6 dishes in total, none of which I would recommend. Over cooked elements, too much deep frying, soggy batter, bland flavours, too much mayonnaise, etc.
Simon W — Google review
The food was pretty good but pricey for what you get (although on the island what else is new). Short rib ramen was tasty but not your typical ramen flavors (it was heavy on the onions and they added truffle oil). Rolls and sushi were great.
Danielle M — Google review
We’ve dined here in the past and were disappointed on this latest visit. It’s now more a bar than a restaurant and the menu has been scaled back significantly. It’s mainly a drink and rolled sushi kind of place. Gone are the foie gras sushi, green lipped mussels and other items we’ve had on prior visits. We started with Macallan 12 on the rocks ($21) and Bombay Sapphire gin & tonic ($16). My friend ordered the Issei Combo ($29.50), featuring a spicy ahi roll and four nigiri (tamago, ahi, Hamachi, and salmon). He added an order of Hotategai ($11). I ordered Hamachi ($13) and Unagi nigiri ($12) and the Raw Blue Crab Poke ($19). The sushi was just okay; I felt that the rice was underseasoned. The raw crab poke was really halves of raw crab over a salad. The crab tasted okay but there was too much dressing, so the greens were soggy. Another round of drinks followed. The bill came to just short of $203 (including tip). Afterward, we went to Island Gourmet Market and found better sushi for far less money. Later, I felt ill and think it was revenge of the raw crab. Thus, this will be our last visit to Sansei at Waikoloa. One and a half stars.

Friendly staff. Ordered that hama kama, Ribeye, holy cow roll, takha roll. Portions were big.
Rigel T — Google review
We stopped by for a quick bite and were impressed by the fast and friendly service—definitely a highlight of the visit. The Mai Tai was tasty and strong, as expected. The interior was nothing special, felt like a fast food sushi spot. Unfortunately, the food didn’t live up to expectations. We tried the rainbow roll and Hawaiian roll, and both were just okay. The Hawaiian roll, in particular, was very plain and lacked flavor. Even the edamame was disappointing—it needed salt to bring out its natural taste. If you are staying near waikoloa village unfortunately there’s a lack of good places to eat.
