State park
Nature & Parks
Rainbow Springs State Park, located in Dunnellon, Florida, is a serene public park with natural springs and a river. It has a rich history dating back 10,000 years and is home to the fourth largest spring in Florida. Visitors can explore moss-covered Cypress trees, floral gardens, impressive waterfalls, and five main springs. The park offers activities such as swimming, snorkeling, canoeing, kayaking, and tubing in the clear waters.
This is a very nice state park, the waters are crystal clear, however, quite cold during our visit. Keep in mind the water can range from five feet all the way up to eighteen feet. There are a variety of well maintained hiking trails and various waterfalls you can observe. At the entrance there is also a gift shop and cafe for dining. This is a great place for exploring the springs and natural landscape in central Florida with the rolling hills. I would recommend it!
Khoi N — Google review
We enjoyed our visit. The waterfalls and walking trails are beautiful. All concrete walkways, extremely well maintained. Gorgeous foliage! Thick, and lush with lots of geckos, and butterflies. Well organized and managed. Friendly volunteer workers. Modern, clean restrooms too! There's also an air-conditioned visitor center where you can buy souvenirs, pool noodles, hats, etc. There's a small cafe on site with covered eating area too. We plan to return in October with kayaks and spend the day on the gorgeous water.
Lisa T — Google review
Rainbow Springs State Park is absolutely breathtaking! The water is crystal clear with the most stunning shades of blue and green it really feels like you’ve stepped into a tropical paradise. The swimming area is refreshing and perfect for cooling off on a hot Florida day. The walking trails are peaceful, full of lush greenery, waterfalls, and wildlife, making it a great place to explore and relax. The park is very clean, well-kept, and the staff is friendly and welcoming. Whether you want to swim, kayak, or just enjoy nature, this park has it all. Definitely one of Florida’s hidden gems and worth every visit!

It was my first time here at rainbow Springs State Park. I have to say I will definitely be back. I really enjoyed the spaciousness of the river for kayaking/canoeing. It is a two hour long river however it takes twice as long to get back, we rented a kayak For one hour went down the river 20 minutes and went back up 40 minutes. The weather was incredible. We got to see turtles, a variety of birds, ducks, and even some otters which was so cool. The staff is very friendly, kind and helpful. The swimming pool was spacious enough for people to swim and some even had some Floaties. I would definitely recommend bringing a pool noodle to help float in the swimming pool as the water is deep and you cannot touch the floor. The views are incredible. The water is clear and there are three different walking trails to enjoy. I didn’t see any showers however they do have clean restrooms. I would recommend bringing a blanket, picnic basket and your own food and water to enjoy there at the park. They have several trees that you can get some shade under or you can lay out on the lawn and get some sun.
Jazzmin D — Google review
This was such an amazing experience to go to the water does feel cold if you touch it but once you jump in, it is perfect! Definitely bring items to help you swim, if you’re not a great swimmer since you can’t touch the bottom. They also sell pool noodles, but they are very thin. And don’t bring a flotation device that’s too big like a circle floaty. I had to bring mine back to the car. They do have a section of the state park where you can go tubing, but you have to drive there and I would definitely call ahead to see if there is tubing that day. I also recommend goggles so you can see in the water! They also have paddle boarding and kayaking, a water fountain, but it’s not cold hiking trails bathrooms, food options, and a gift store
Lydia C — Google review
Really torn about how to rate this park. We went on a Tuesday so no line to get in, parking was easy. But it was beastly hot, a longish walk to bathroom area and then another very steep longish walk to swimming area where there were some benches to sit on. BE AWARE that there are NO steps or ramps to enter the swimming area (the only options are to go down the ladders or to jump or dive in). That being said, this is probably the cleanest clearest water I have ever gone swimming in and I have been swimming all over the world. It was VERY difficult for me to get out of the water because it was so pleasurable being in it!! Just incredibly delightful! I could see to the deep bottom sandy floor with no chance of touching it unless I dove under. You can watch fish happily swimming around way below you. I think I was there the hottest day of 2025 so the water was perfectly refreshing.
Daughterofthe K — Google review
Spring head is great to swim in. You cannot touch. Its 20ft in some spots and no where you can stand in the water. So bring a noodle or Buy them for $3 in the giftshop. Plenty of tables and picnic grassy area. Take the historic waterfall walk. So beautiful
Rachel K — Google review
One of the best state parks I’ve been. There is parking and rest rooms! Hiking trails are paved and d non paved. Swimming in the lake kayaking that you could rent or bring your own. There are waterfalls that are made but looks so natural. Restaurant in for Burgers etc.

I visit this store regularly. It tends to be more pricey, however, their buy one get one deals and sales are what keeps me coming back. I also appreciate the meat selection and the butchers who can custom cut meat to fit your needs. Having lived in a country where sushi is a staple, I highly recommend the sushi as well. Even the raw salmon and tuna is extremely fresh and outstanding. The unique hard to find vegetables I need for certain dishes can usually be found here, but now always. Customer service is top notch. The hot foods are always delicious and fresh. My families business purchases subs for lunch here weekly, and they are always outstanding and fresh. So, overall, though it is more expensive, it is worth the visit.

I love going to Publix is one of my favorites groceries stores to go to. Today I wanted a Philly Sub and was waiting to be attended. The girl came and said "next customer" so I was standing there and told her I'm next, I was really the next one on line. She said the other sub maker will help me because i showed up with that customer that he was helping in line. With that being said, that's why my 2stars today. I hope she puts her self in my shoe one day and feel ignored. On a positive note I found 10 hot Sweet Heat Peach Wings and got a side of macaroni salad.

Jodi, the cake decorator at my local Publix, is absolutely amazing! She created two beautiful cakes, one for my 50th and another for my granddaughter’s 3rd birthday. Both were perfect and made our celebrations truly special. Her creativity and attention to detail are unmatched. Highly recommend!

Wow..the chicken and waffles was amazing. The big margarita was just that, big and made right! With bacon and sausage, just the right spice for my tastes..in a laaarge mason jar, with a helathy dose of vodka on top..so you better stir it.

Unprofessional store. Would not go here again. Only good department is grocery as they are actually kind and helpful. I never see many in produce. Sushi is always empty and rude when I come later in the day it’s only one guy that’s like this though. Learn how to be professional as a store.

Nature & Parks
KP Hole Park is a county park located downstream from the headspring, offering a variety of water activities such as river tubing, boating, and snorkeling. The park features amenities like swimming areas, beaches, picnic facilities with grills, playgrounds, volleyball nets, a concession stand, and restrooms. Visitors can also rent canoes and tubes for their water adventures at affordable rates. Managed by Marion County since 1993, the park has a rich history dating back to 1920.
KP Hole was truly a magical experience. My family and I took about 4.5 hours to float to the pick up point. I enjoyed the peace and tranquility. My senior mother and younger son only lasted about 3 hours until they were over it, so maybe consider bringing children. The staff we very nice. Water felt really good because it got hot on the tube. We only saw two spots to pull off and they were hard to see. Make sure you pack food, because you'll get hungry. We didn't see any gators but saw adorable otters and turtles. The water was crystal clear. Very peaceful experience. I left feeling very "zenned out".
Lynzee H — Google review
Best place to go kayaking, snorkeling and just have a great time. We took our tandem and snorkel sets. Pay for entrance and parking and you are set for the day. A must come back, water is so clear and refreshing, one of the best places around to be in the water. Just be careful with the water levels and be cautious when exploring. Keep children on sight at all times.
Gilda C — Google review
We did our river float here, we were told it would take about 4 1/2 hrs.. it took us 6. Not sure why it took so long. Still an enjoyable experience nonetheless! We saw tons of animals and the water is chilly and beautiful! Be aware, they DONT take tap pay!
Ashley L — Google review
Very nice parking area, restroom and launch area. 4 hrs on the river was so relaxing. You can stop off throughout the river and park, cool down, swim for a few and get right back on. Make sure you have plenty of sunblock, a goggle and drinks in a floating device. No plastic
Chan T — Google review
Beautiful 4-hour float down crystal-clear 72° water. Shuttle from overflow parking was a lifesaver. Tie tubes together, bring a small cooler, and pack snorkel gear, sunscreen, and water. Skip plastic bags — use resealable containers. A small oar or kayak paddle beats a hiking stick for steering. Spectacular scenery and wildlife. 5 stars.
Ian P — Google review
This was really fun! It was my first time but I would do it again. I didn't like getting off because the rocks underneath were slippery, and I wasn't expecting it. I saw a turtle, it swam right under me and some otters I think playing off to the side. The clear water made it feel better for me. The grass underneath made for some great pics.
Shajuan T — Google review
It was our first time there and a cold day a free weeks ago. There was a swarm of black bugs on the top of the water all over. So the kids were too scare to get in. But maybe mid summer is better. But yeah i think it was like $23 to get in for 3 people.
Jennifer S — Google review
Pretty fun experience! I recommend you get here early as the park fills up fast. We also went on a weekend so that could also be why. We brought our inflatable kayaks here, and took a trip down rainbow river. We also found a hidden spot called Indian creek that isn't marked which I suggest you look for, as it's incredible. It's right on the right as you leave kp and go upstream. You can bring food and drinks (no alcohol) but everything has to be in reusable containers. So if you want to picnic, remember that. Would recommend!

Breakfast restaurant
The Breakfast Station is a well-loved local eatery known for its welcoming staff, efficient management, and skilled chefs. It's a popular spot offering generous portions of delicious food with an extensive menu for breakfast and lunch. While there are mixed reviews about its lunch options, locals frequent the restaurant weekly due to its quick service and inviting ambiance. Since 1995, this charming restaurant has been satisfying appetites in Dunnellon, Florida with delightful American cuisine available all day long.
This place was PHENOMENAL! If you’re debating going here versus a iHOP or Denny’s or anywhere else, those places genuinely will not compare! This place is filled with southern hospitality and extremely flavorful food, all at a decent price! They even have iced coffee and they’re also very good (not easy to find good iced coffees at breakfast spots!) I got the caramel iced coffee and it was great. I forgot what my entree name was but it had 2 eggs and bacon and toast and fruit and it was good, eggs over easy were cooked perfectly. My vegetarian husband got the Garden skillet with sunny side up eggs and I haven’t seen him chew while smiling and nodding that much at a restaurant in a long time!!!! Overall, great food, great service, cute location, we’ll definitely be back the next time we’re in this area! :)
Christina F — Google review
The cinnamon swirl pancakes are a must try. They are soooo good. The swirl is crispy and full of cinnamon. Omg I always have to get a side order when I come here. You barely need syrup they just melt in your mouth. Another thing to try is the cereal crusted French toast.. sooo good! If you're not a sweets person, I believe this is the side car- it's fried chicken with sausage gravy and cheese over a biscuit and homemade fries on the side. Also SO GOOD. The food was hot and fresh, the chicken was amazing and not overly salty. These are my two favorite things to get on the menu! The food came out super quick and our server was very attentive to us, always making sure my coffee was filled. I will 100% go back here! Just writing this review I'm looking at these photos I'm already telling my husband I want to go back haha

Got the "Trainwreck" for breakfast, it was good but not my favorite. The biscuits were cooked very well and I would recommend this place to anybody looking for a quick and filling meal; it's just not as good as what grandma makes 😁. Overall the service was fast and friendly and the train decor was a fun touch.

The best pancakes I’ve ever had. No lie. Simply delicious, all American breakfast spot I’ve ever been to. Everyone is very kind and welcoming, service is great, and food is absolutely delicious and fresh. Highly recommend for anyone visiting the springs or Dunnellon. I ordered the Taylor special pancake and a cinnamon roll one. Absolutely exquisite.
Sophia R — Google review
Driving around looking for a good breakfast spot, my cousin recommended this place—and it did not disappoint! The hash browns were crispy, the bacon cooked perfectly, and the portions were generous. The atmosphere has such a warm, family vibe, and the staff couldn’t have been more amazing. Definitely a spot worth coming back to
Elizabeth C — Google review
To begin with the service was great the young lady I had was very attentive. The food was however was not that great. First off the grits were okay but they were a little clumpy, the sausage definitely were frozen patties that looked they had been defrosted in the microwave and just put on the plate. The French toast weren’t warm either. I have been here before but the one in Ocala was better.
Gakerria G — Google review
Stopped in on a trip to Tampa. I really liked the place. Our waitress (Amanda P) was wonderful. The prices were reasonable as were the portions. I had the "Train Station" which had 3 bacon, 3 sausage, 3 eggs, grits (that was My choice) and 2 large size pancakes of which I decided to add blueberries. The price was $14.99. My food was cooked correctly and came out hot. They even do fancy bloody Marys. We will definitely put this on our list for a return trip.
Denise R — Google review
We stopped here on our way back home. It’s a busy little spot, but the wait was only about 15-20 min. You can tell the locals dine here based on the conversations amongst staff and patrons. We had omelets and the kids had pancakes and waffles. Everything was fresh and the coffee was good. Our waitress was very nice and attentive. This area has a small town feel with not a lot of options to dine, but this did the job and I would recommend it if you’re in the area.

Great service! Decent menu, and fun atmosphere. Would be great to sit outside, with the lights in the evening, but it was cold! West 27 band entertainment event was upstairs, so we had reservations and enjoyed the music! Staff super friendly and made sure our drinks were replenished and server checked on us to make sure our food was good!

Great variety of food from appetizers to dessert. They also offer a full bar with a list of specialty drinks. Prices were reasonable. Our waitress was friendly and did a great job. They have live music on weekends and other activities such as music bingo.

We very frequently visit at CHEERS ! It truly is a place to see old friends, make new friends and hang with current friends! Menu has nice selection. Wait staff is awesome, friendly and HARD WORKING. Management is very friendly and helpful with any concern you may have. Try it once, you'll be back. Visit on Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m and participate in either MUSIC BINGO or Crazy Trivia w/ Wendy! Its a BLAST! Gotta have reservations for Wednesdays!!! CHEERS 'Where everyone knows your name"!

The place is a little bit hard to find but once you're there it's really nice. We went there as a group. It was a really nice atmosphere. They had a band that was playing our era of music, which I guess was mostly '70s? In any case it was very well done. People were getting up and dancing. The weather was perfect. I really thought it was going to be extremely expensive and I was pleasantly surprised that the bill was not that bad either. Can't wait to go back there. Have to see when the next event is. I definitely recommend this place. You can sit outside if the weather permits and everything seemed just perfect. I will definitely go back. Once again went to Cheers with a friend and got a great seat near the band outside. I had made reservations earlier in the week which was good because the place did fill up as the night went on. Once again the band was great. Food is getting a little lean, but it's that way everywhere. One waitress was taking care of a lot of people and she actually did a pretty good job. As always, it was a fun night with a great atmosphere and lots of happy people. Still recommend Cheers at Rainbow Springs.

I've been coming here since they opened. The burgers are fantastic! We have had salads, sandwiches, and other meals. All have been good. The prices are reasonable, and the service is exceptional. Cheer's, a place where friends meet. I love it. UPDATE Dec 18, 2023 The chicken wings are VERY good, too 😋

Came for Trivia Tuesday. Our server was excellent and very friendly. Haddock Oscar was flavorful as well and the burger. Loaded potato soup was not a big hit, too much hot sauce. Ahi tuna app was very tasty. Quesadilla could uae a side of salsa. Good value for the price . Will return.

Nothing fancy and not very crowded at 7 on a Saturday night. Food was okay. Garlic butter chicken didn't have much flavor. More staff than needed since there were several hanging out at the bar on their phones.

Swampy's Bar & Grille is a laid-back riverside restaurant located in Dunnellon, offering a scenic deck where visitors can enjoy Cajun fare, burgers, and fish tacos. Situated on the Rainbow River, it provides a picturesque view and is an ideal spot to unwind after a day of kayaking. The menu features flavorful dishes such as Mahi & Shrimp Orleans served with spicy New Orleans sauce over creamy mashed potatoes.
It was 30 minutes wait on Saturday late afternoon even though there were many tables available… I wonder why? 😳 Anyway, I liked my alligator roll here and the cocktail was good too! Also, the river view is amazing!

Great atmosphere right next to the river. You can tube or boat on the Rainbow River and tie up at their dock. They have a large parking lot for cars too. Food was very tasty, reasonably priced, and with friendly service. My only negative was the limited bathroom availability. The parking lot is large but can be very rough stone so if someone is handicapped you may need to drop them off directly by the ramp.

Swampy’s was such a great experience! The gator bites were fresh, juicy, and full of flavor. The red beans and rice with andouille sausage was absolutely amazing—perfectly seasoned and hearty. We also tried the shrimp appetizer, which was fresh and delicious. On top of the food, the atmosphere was beautiful and really set the tone for a fun evening. The highlight was definitely the live singer playing steel drums, which added an awesome touch to the whole vibe. Highly recommend Swampy’s for anyone looking for fresh food, great flavors, and a unique, enjoyable dining experience!

I had a great time at Swampy’s tonight! I ordered a cheeseburger (medium well) and fries + a garden salad & chips and salsa. Burger was nice and juicy, and cooked as requested. I’d HIGHLY recommend. And the fries? It can make even a grown man shed a tear. Salad was nice and loaded, plenty of veggies and nice and fresh. Chips and salsa were good however the salsa is SPICY so keep that in mind. It isn’t sweet baby salsa. To drink, I got a redneck sunburn (?) it’s a mix of pina colada and strawberry daiquiri and it was delicious. Highly recommend. I will definitely come back! Love Swampy’s!

Went to Swampy's after tubing on the Rainbow River. Sitting in the open area has a nice view of the river. Ordered a Bloody Mary that tasted bland. The fish and chips with french fries was very good and the portion was large. They use Basa that has a softer texture than Cod, but it was good and didn't have a fishy taste. Swampy's should create a great Bloody Mary. I will drive out of my way for a good Bloody Mary even if the food is mediocre. Good Cocktails enhance the dining experience, I can get a beer anywhere.
Colin M — Google review
Food is good, good flavors! The setting is really nice, on the Rainbow River. Family friendly, Group Friendly but on what I ordered which was the fish and chips, the price needs to match the portion. I also asked for a sample of a couple of sauces that is used in a couple of plates, and they brought me a bowl of each. Which it wasn’t explain to me by the girl that took my order, not my waitress it was someone else. And then I was charge $9 for both of the sauces, I was only expecting a small amount to taste. So next time I can determine what other plates with those sauces I can order. I guess I paid for the view too😁🤦🏻‍♂️ *****IF YOU ARE PAYING WITH A CREDIT CARD***** you will pay what the restaurant is getting charge for providing credit form of payment to the customer. As of right now today it was 3%😡🤦🏻‍♂️🥲

This place is soooo good! I recommend the shrimp po boy is to die for. We also had a few mojitos and they were also delicious. My husband had a surf n turf which was pretty good, but not the best option in the menu. Beautiful views of the rainbow river and they sometimes have live entertainment. Sometimes there is a little up to 20 minute wait so just be prepared for that.

The pictures already show the atmosphere. There's beautiful water where you can watch otters play and hunt for food as they meander to and down the river. They have a decent selection of beer including Red Right Retun from Marker 48, which is one of my top local beers to drink. The blackened redfish is my favorite dish so far. The staff is pleasant and it's a great little place on the water. *update* Go during the day, the no seeums at night can have it....lol They also no longer have the Marker 48 beer.

Park
Blue Run of Dunnellon Park is a serene community park offering access to the picturesque Rainbow River for kayaking and tubing. The park boasts well-maintained walking paths, picnic spots, and a playground amidst stunning natural landscapes. Visitors can enjoy peaceful strolls along paved paths, encountering polite cyclists and abundant wildlife such as birds, otters, and occasional glimpses of alligators.
Absolutely beautiful park. Amazing trails and views of nature. Hidden gem is an understatement! (Marion County's nickname)

Stopped here for a nature walk. We just walked to the bridge and back and on the way back we saw a gator chilling in the water. The bridge has nice little benches to sit on and enjoy the water and that wonderful breeze 😌 Dog friendly and everyone we passed was friendly too.

We got some inner tubes and floated around the ramp area for a couple hours, and it was wonderful. Stunning scenery -- Cool, clear water, beautiful cypress everywhere, and we even spotted some river otters. Definitely tough to get a spot in the little parking lot, but there's an overflow lot just a block away with a short footpath/trail that brings you back to the ramp area (plus access to the other, longer trails).
Benjamin M — Google review
Small park with 2 trails around the pond with trail connection to the Dunnellon Trail. Parking is tight but plenty, with a second parking lot available that is walking accessible from the pond trail. There is a boat ramp here with access to the Rainbow River. Fishing is allowed in the pond, catch and release only. The trail has little plaques with plant facts and there are a few benches around the pond. Bikes are only allowed on the paved trail.

Went for paddleboarding...arrived at 7am as the parking are next time boot ramp filles up fast. Spent a few hours on the water...I recommend this park...have also done the hiking trails.
Malcolm T — Google review
Paved trail that follows the water. It seems to be part of a bike path network. There also seem to be non-paved trails through the woods. Blue Run has a ramp for tubing and kayaking. If you follow the main trail it takes you to a bridge overlooking the Withlacoochee River.

ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT! ❤️ ❤️ Such a BEAUTIFUL walk!!! It's huge! We walked just about 16,000 steps just walking around! Even after hurricane Helené.. It's was GORGEOUS! They cleaned it up nice! The wildlife is awesome! The trees... OMG the trees are beautiful ❤️ ❤️ these pictures do it no justice! Best part.... IT'S FREE! 100% RECOMMEND! ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️

Very peaceful quite stroll through some beautiful Florida natural landscape. Nicely paved path shared with bycycles, but plenty of room for both, and the people are polite. There is a kayak boat launch to the Rainbow River and the water is clear as glass. Lots of parking throughout the week but more crowded on weekends and holidays especially in spring summer and fall. You will see lots of wildlife birds, otters and occasionally a gator! There are portable restroom facilities. You will find benches all along the trail and about halfway, there is a beautiful bridge overlooking the river with spectacular views.

Canoe & kayak rental service
Rainbow River Canoe & Kayak offers an exceptional experience with knowledgeable and friendly staff. They provide fair pricing and detailed information for exploring the river, making the whole process effortless and enjoyable. Their shuttle service is convenient, allowing you to explore the entire river without worrying about paddling upstream to return. The staff is described as amazing, happy, and accommodating. Visitors appreciate their commitment to environmental conservation through a no plastic or paper policy.
This business makes recreation on the Rainbow River really easy. The staff is friendly and makes sure you know where to go. I kayaked once solo and once with my dog. There's excellent birding and swimming along the way. We even caught a few glimpses of river otters. There's parking at the departure point and transportation via shuttle up the river.

We had the best time! This is a family-run kayak company that knows the river like the back of their hand and shares Dunnellon's history. When you look up Southern hospitality in the dictionary, you’ll find this kayak company. We had a small group of us and instantly felt like we were their extended family shuttling down to the river. My family visiting from Oakland, CA, was super impressed, having never experienced something like this. We went on a Monday which I highly recommend. You get the whole river to yourself. 🤘🏼 10/10

My wife and I rented a tandem kayak here to paddle the Rainbow River. I wish I remembered the names of the 2 gentlemen who took care of us, but I don't. I will tell you that the one that checked us in and gave us the details about the river did an excellent job. He shared the best places to go and how to find our way back to their location. The other gentleman who drove us to the launch point and helped us into the water was also excellent and helpful. It was a beautiful day and we were awed by the beauty of the river and the wildlife we saw, especially the otters. I highly recommend their services and would definitely paddle with them again.

Every time I visit family in Florida, I enjoy coming to Rainbow River and introducing friends and family to this gem. This time over, I brought my husband who was visiting the USA with me and we enjoyed kayaking. Dorian was super helpful and informative getting started. Upon return so was his colleague ( whose name began with a D too I believe). Then we stopped for a cold drink before a walk in the beautiful park and we chatted with Alex who served us. Always greeted with a smile and friendliness. Thank you for always making our trip memorable visiting. I look forward to our return.

We arrived in the morning for the first trip and then rode a bus up-river after a brief message about where we were going on a map. The staff was very helpful and friendly. Once in the water with the kayaks, it was very easy to float down-river, perfect for those who don't want to paddle a lot. The day was hot, the water felt perfectly cool, and the views were fantastic. We saw plenty of fish, birds, turtles, nice homes and a few otters. Water was clean and clear. After we returned, showers and bathrooms are available.

Great experience!! They were super flexible about our time when we were worried about an afternoon storm & they had clean bathrooms & showers to use when you got back from the trip. Would definitely use again!

Highly recommend! As a local to the Ocala area we do have our own kayaks, but we were really impressed with their shuttle service. They were very helpful in loading and unloading our kayaks from our roof rack, which was so appreciated on our tall SUV! They gave some great insights on the river and tips that other companies I've used didn't do. Really appreciated the clean bathrooms before and after too. Love ending the kayak trip at our car too and just being able to head straight home. Definitely recommend!

The Blue Gator Tiki Bar & Restaurant is a beachy spot in Dunnellon, FL that offers Southern-style seafood dishes and live entertainment with stunning river views. It's a non-pretentious place where you can enjoy an extensive outdoor seating area overlooking the river. The menu features delicious prawns, fish, salads, and local specialties at moderate prices.
Very fun vibe at this place! We came just for the dessert but the dessert was a solid representation of what can be expected of this place. The employees were talkative and sweet and engaged with us (and thanked us for only ordering dessert during a dinner rush). Wish I lived nearby so I could go more often!
Rebecca K — Google review
Great restaurant all around, very friendly service, good recommendations from our server Angela. I got a strawberry banana smoothie, the beer battered cod with fries, Mac and cheese and tartar sauce. Husband got Gator Po-boy and he loved it! Great portions, good prices, the only reason this is 4 stars instead of 5 is because the wait was very long. It seemed like there weren't enough servers / staff for the size of the restaurant. There also isn't very much car parking, I hope they can expand it in the future. I would recommend this place as a good local food destination! My husband adds "the Blue Gator did not attack my wallet" haha.
Brianna D — Google review
We had lunch at the Blue Gator in August 2025. First off, parking is kind of tight and limited, due to limited space. We didn’t have an issue. But I suspect there could be if the Blue Gator is even somewhat busy. We also had no option except to eat on the deck in high humidity and ninety plus degree temperatures, since they kept the indoor dining closed during our visit. It was not bad at first, but got uncomfortable by the time we finished our lunch. They did have a few large fans moving air, but that only did so much. I’m sure dining on the deck would probably be much more enjoyable between October till April. But it still wasn’t out of the question in August, since we did stay and have lunch. The deck has very limited views of the river, between the seating, railings, and especially the boat docking and shelter roofing that runs the length of the deck. The food itself we found to be quite good. The prices are of course subject to one’s opinion. But we found them quite reasonable for the times. I had Buffalo Wings and a Yuengling draft. The wife had Clam Strips and baby bakers (chopped garlic potatoes?) As she put it: “Wife Approved”. We had no complaints with our server. She was friendly and performed her duties in good fashion. The manager also stopped by to make sure everything was good. He left us to visited the next table, and so on. Basically everyone we had contact with, were friendly and professional. We even got a thank you from another man from the front of the boat tour building. Maybe he owns the whole complex? Or maybe he was also just a nice, appreciative employee/person. All in all, we did enjoy our lunch at the Blue Gator. It was a nice experience having lunch down in that little cove. The bridge with route 41 was right above us, but really didn’t seem like a factor. A nice lunch on the river. Nice trees sheltering us overhead. Good, although not the best views. But nice folks providing a good meal, at what we considered, a reasonable price. What more could we want. Well, maybe a little cooler time of the year. We’ll keep that in mind when we return. In which I’m sure we will.
Sponge B — Google review
Blue Gator is a nice riverside restaurant with outdoor seating on the river. River view is obscured by the boat docking area, but still nice. Plenty of fans outdoors so even on a hot day you stay cool. I had the fish tacos. Comes with 4 tacos, slaw and two hush puppies. My wife had the grilled shrimp. Both meals were very good.
Nicholas L — Google review
Located by the river, live music and parking is limited. I had a Gator Po Boy, not memorable and over fried Hush puppies, I couldn't eat them. My wife had Cod and she liked it but the Sweet Potato fries were soggy. Music was good. Seated quickly. Busy place.

The Front Porch Restaurant and Pie Shop in Dunnellon, FL is a popular spot known for its delicious American dishes and homemade pies. The restaurant offers a cozy and welcoming atmosphere with hand-painted wall paintings adding to the charm. Despite being busy, the friendly staff ensures efficient service. The menu features a variety of options including seafood platters, pot roast, pancakes, and burgers. Visitors rave about the flavorful Cuban sandwich and fried chicken sandwich.
Absolutely love this little Dunnellon restaurant. The Front Porch is quaint, locally owned and welcoming. The food and pies absolutely delicious. We had the Southern Style Pot Roast, with field peas, fries and a slice of Cuban bread. Omg, this pot roast is one of the best I've had. The meat so tender and full of flavor, and enhanced beautifully with the vegetables and gravy. Great portions too. We also had the peach pie, and again it was delicious. Not filled with a purified sugary jelly or soggy fruit. This pie was packed with real chunky slices of sweet juicy peaches in a delicious short crust pastry. We came home with the whole pie. It was mouthwatering good. This is now one of our favorite places, and we can't wait to try more of their pie varieties. The Strawberry & Rhubarb pie is next on our list. Our server was awesome and he was so helpful and friendly. Highly Recommend.

8/14 Food is plentiful and just like mom or grandma cooked it for you!!! Laura was our server. Kept our drinks filled. Great service. 08/15 Went back for breakfast. What?? $6 for two eggs, toast and taters?? Best deal in Dunnellon. I paid .99 extra for cheese. Lele was my server. Kept my coffee hot! Great service. Rye toast, thick!

Friends told us about this restaurant in Dunnellon,Florida it has been there for decades. We actually ate where the porch would have been. We started with the fried pickles, which come in strips, not chips. Really liked the coating on them. Then I had the half Cuban sandwhich and a cup of their Spanish Bean soup, which had chunks of ham and potatoes in it. Yummy. Hubby went with the Country Fried Steak with mash potatoes and corn on the cob. The portion of the steak was bigger than most places, and hubby actually couldn't eat it all. He took part of it home and made a sandwich the next day. You also have to try their pies. I went with the Key Lime, and hubby had the Cherry. We were there around 2 p.m., and they were still really busy. An elderly lady that was at a table beside us said we needed to come for breakfast and that she had been coming there since she was a little girl. So give it a try if you are passing through Dunnellon, Florida.

Definitely will not be back. We paid $8.35 for a kids meal (which is fine) then $3.65 for her drink, but she was not allowed to get refills!! For a total of $12 I don’t understand how you can go half your meal without a drink. I understood our server had a large table, but we weren’t ever offered refills (finally asked when we caught her) and my husbands sweet potato fries were extremely cold so we paid $12.50 for a cheeseburger w/no side or toppings that he ordered. The upgrade for the sweet potato fries was removed. Also prices do not match menu prices?

Can’t say enough about this down home-feeling place. Food was excellent, came out fast, and plenty of it for a ridiculously affordable price. We started with the boom boom shrimp, then moved on to the half a fried chicken entree with collard greens and baked sweet potato sides for one dish, and country fried steak entree with field peas and fried okra for the other dish. Outstanding. Best fried okra I’ve had in ages. Service was attentive and the atmosphere was light and joyful. I don’t think I’ll ever drive by without stopping in when I’m in the area. Thank you!
Summer S — Google review
Went for pie and coffee had the peach cobbler and ice cream. Delish! We asked for coffee and made fresh pot just for us. Even warmed our cups up first . The building is anything but fancy, but was perfect for the casual Florida vibe. The only point off was the pie not in slices but in individual pot pie tins and the crust was a bit thick. It was explained to us that the merengue on sliced pies was so high, when sliced , it fell Nevertheless I would certainly go back

Located in Dunnellon, the eatery PIRI PIRI CHICKEN GRILL serves a variety of dishes including side dishes, pork and chicken dishes, oriental cuisine, and Turkish specialties. With its current favorites being The Seafood Market, Gyros King Grill, and Blue Gator bbq chatham nj, this restaurant promises to take your taste buds on a flavorful journey.
We were at the Gyros King on Saturday fairly early at around 4pm and the restaurant had just opened and started filling up fast. The service was great and the food delicious. We ordered an appetiser and 2 mains and sadly all arrived at the same time- or actually maybe quite good, otherwise I would have eaten my grilled Feta and gyros appetiser and could not have managed my Mahi Mahi Pitta. We took the appetiser home and had a nice Sunday treat. My husband had the Greek meat sampler, again a great portion served with a fantastic, fresh greek salad as a side. All in all a great meal, great service. Thank you all. PS make sure you look at all the Specials-boards along the wall. There were a lot of great treats we hadn't noticed. Next time we'll know.

What a surprise! This is an authentic Greek eatery close to Rainbow Springs State Park that I personally just didn't expect to find around here. And the food... was really, really tasty. Not only this, but they had Greek bottles of beer, and I liked those, too! On the first visit, baba dip, tabouli and roasted potatoes appetizers were great, plus a shrimp, calamari, and scallop dish over orzo pasta - excellent, best baba dip and pita I've ever had. Second trip was a Greek salad appetizer and a grilled lamb chop and shrimp entree with tzatziki sauce and pita to accompany on the side. I'd recommend the shrimp, calamari, and scallop orzo pasta, and definitely the baba though I'm sure there are many other delicious dishes here to try. Also, the bathrooms here are called "water closet" 🤷

It was a great experience overall. Our server had tables inside so it took a long time to get our check but we understood as it got really busy. Highly recommend!

Long established business in a new location. Everything is fresh, new, bright, & clean. It was a soft opening when I stopped, staff was short, & they were about an hour behind on orders (a thriving call-in, pickup service was the culprit). No problem. Ordered 2 $5 Gyros & a Spinach Pie. I also ordered a couple shots of Ouzo while I waited & was pleasantly surprised they were on the house. The Gyros were fresh & hot. Possibly the freshest pita I've had anywhere. Ample meat meant there wasn't much room to add the tzatziki, lettuce, onion, & tomatoes. Being as I placed my order to-go, the Gyros came deconstructed, inside a clear plastic, divided container. I'm used to getting Gyros wrapped in foil already put together. I think I prefer the self-assembly option better. I can't rave enough about how delicious the food is. Worth the wait is an understatement. The menu is fairly diverse, so there's something here for everyone, even those who aren't fond of delicious Greek food. Decent selection of beer & liquor. All-day happy hour, 2-for-1 well-drink special. I didn't get the girl's name working the front (solo I might add), but she was a trooper. Never lost her cool or seemed to get flustered, and the place was packed. Parking is limited, about 20 spaces, and I got one of the last two available. Again, it was very busy & this was around 3:30 p.m. If COVID guidelines are your thing, I can add that they're loosely enforced here. Plenty of indoor & outdoor seating, even an outdoor smoking section.

I am officially OBSESSED with this place! Everything is absolutely delicious! I always get a couple meals out of my orders. 😊 Two things I recommend are the Greek Coffee and the Pickled Beets! I don't usually post five star reviews but just a cupcake has it all. Disgraced food, nice people and a charming place for a great meal. The food is excellent and unique with a wide range of sandwiches that'll suit and meat eaters and vegetarians alike. There's a great choice of soups and salad. And I haven't even mentioned the dessert choices yet. If you like pies, cakes, Neapolitan and of course cupcakes this is absolutely the place to come. there's an outstanding selection of bottled sodas all made from pure sugar rather than fructose that look like a who's who of the history of great drinks. There's also a selection of coffee drinks some fantastic homemade Iced Teas and a Decor that will make you homesick for the beach for a 50's kind of Diner chic and just give you a bright smile all the way around. Highly recommended. Check the hours. Not open for dinner and not open some days.

This looks like a really cute bakery, we didn't have time to stop in while we were there. My family and I were staying at an AirBnB farm in the area for Christmas and I wanted a dessert for it. I ordered a Chocolate Bonnet that we picked up on our way to the farm. I could not have been more pleased with the cake, they decorated it for the holiday and it was absolutely delicious! The cake was moist and the frosting wasn't too sweet. I would absolutely order from here again when in the area, and hopefully we'll have time to stop for lunch too.

Rainbow Springs State Park in Dunnellon, Florida is a nature lover's paradise. With the fourth largest natural spring in Florida and the convergence of the Withlacoochee and Rainbow Rivers, it's no wonder this area is known as the Treasure of Florida's Nature Coast. The rivers are famous for bass fishing, and visitors can also catch sunfish, bream, gar, shad, and crappie.
Really fun experience! You park at this entrance, get a ride up about 1.5mi, hop on your tube, and float back. $24 with tube rental +$5 per car for park entrance and parking. A blast on a hot day! Crystal clear water and lots to see along the way. Be sure to bring a waterproof bag for valuables and your phone. Several people had swim goggles and were watching fish under the water as they floated down river.

You can go directly to the tubing area and rent their tubes. They will drive you to the campground to enter the river with their rented tubes and you float back to this location. If you stay at the Rainbow Springs River Campground you can bring your own tubes and buy a ticket that the campground store to get a tram ride back. They give you a bracelet and you can buy a single ride or all day rides $14 with your own tubes. Check out the prices with the campground store. They also have tube rental options available. Then the tram drives you back to the campground when you’re done. Your tubes are limited to a maximum size so check that out also. No plastic containers are allowed in the river. Again check out the limitations. We had such a wonderful time!! There is also a LAST RIDE time - so ask. It takes approximately 1.5 hours for the float from the campground so give yourself time to enjoy!

Beautiful crystal clear water that feel wonderful to swim in. The cold spring waters really relieve your aches and pains. Makes you feel refreshed. But the most unique and surprising and gorgeous part about Rainbow Springs are the waterfalls. I went after kids went back to school during the summer. So the walk to see the Waterfalls had No one around but my friend and I so it really felt like you were on an adventure. I highly recommended going. We want to go back to take the floats down the river.

This is definitely a must! It's great for families, friends or even on your own! The river is crystal clear all the way down. Bring a mask and snorkel and pack snacks and drinks! You won't be disappointed.

Affordable day trip. We drove to the springs with a cooler packed for a picnic lunch afterwards. Paid at the gate, parked in the nice level gravel lot. Filled out our waivers in the comfort of our air conditioned vehicle. Sprayed sun screen & bug spray! Do not bring anything with you once you leave your car or else it is coming on the water with you. They have tubes and life vest to float down springs so no worries about inflation and keeping up with your float, unless you prefer to bring your own. Some parts of the Springs are deep. Bathrooms are on site and a cute little store and snack shack there too. Our shuttle driver made an announcement and loaded us up! All staff members were super friendly and helpful. All in all water time was close to a 2hr float. Once off the water you have a short walk on a trail through natural FL vegetation where you return your tube and life vest! We will definitely return and bring out of town guests to visit. I recommend a hat, water shoes, & a rope to link your tubes if you want to stay together as a group.

Horrible experience!! Yes it was very beautiful but towards the end, something happened with my mother's leg and she was unable to get out of the tube. The staff were very rude to her saying it's her fault she almost drowned 😡 And, not only that, the staff STOOD THERE AND DID NOTHING when she screamed out for help! Bystanders had to help rescue her!! 0/10 staff 9/10 tubing experience

I am young, 48, yet disabled due to stage 4 cancer. However, coming to Rainbow Spings is so healing and an addition to my quality of life that I can't imagine ever NOT wanting to visit. The workers there went above and beyond to help me on/off my inner tube and Kayak and coordinated a special "ride" from the pick-up spot to the parking lot, as it's a decent walk. Two of the employees gave me their direct number in case I experienced an ER while on the water and made sure to check up on me when the tubing trip was complete! Such kind souls and the world would be a better place with more people like them!

Tubing down the spring was awesome. Took about 2 hrs. Very easy access with tram. Friendly staff. The main headspring is a 13 min. drive away. The headspring swimming area was roped off & felt like a community pool (see pic), a lot of restricted areas we couldn't explore unless we rented a kayak. Walking areas have sidewalks, concessions stand, plenty of tables and chairs, a couple of large gazebos, and picnic grass areas were nice.

Hard to beat the beauty of the Rainbow River with its crystal clear water and beautiful scenery. We launched kayaks at KP Hole and kayaked to the state park and back. It was a beautiful experience! We went down a tributary and enjoyed a very scenic and private time. Highly recommend kayaking the Rainbow River, you will be glad you did!!!

It's a very beautiful place. There's tons of free parking available and the entrance only costs $1 per person during the summer. We went kayaking on the river. The water was crystal clear and very refreshing. On the trip we saw lots of fish, birds and turtles. There's also a little designated area to swim but you aren't able to stand there in the water because it's so deep. Definitely recommend bringing a noodle if you just want to swim in this pool! You also swim in the river while on your kayaking trip which was so refreshing 😊
Natalie S — Google review
Absolutely stunning! We rented a pontoon boat for a few hours and went up the whole Rainbow River. The water was clear as glass, you could see all the way to the bottom even in the deep parts. Tons of wildlife, we saw fish, giant turtles, and even river otters. I put on my wetsuit and jumped off the boat in a few spots, it was amazing for snorkeling and freediving. We even had scuba divers diving next to us which was really cool to see. There are a few resturants along the river you can stop and eat at too. Seems like a good place for kayaking as well!
Cody V — Google review
Beautiful place to spend the day. River is large, deep, and has quite the current. Great for whatever you’re into; scuba diving, snorkeling, paddling, tubing, or just swimming. Lots of wildlife and gorgeous views to take in. Many spots to stop for a break including the state park, KP hole, and swampys. Clear water, but it does get murky by the afternoon due to all the motor boats on the water so get in early if you’re going underwater.

I have been here several times now. I always find something I need. I absolutely love this thrift shop it is jam packed with treasures. I appreciate the Shirts for 1.00. I got a glass lid I needed for an old baking dish. A set of gear for my niece for roller blading. Got my son a vintage hat that he will treasure for life. Some great VHS movies. Books. Lamps.

I’ve been shopping here for probably 5 years and have always loved this store, rarely ever walked out empty handed. Unfortunately I was met with an extremely rude employee when I went to drop off my donations. She was visibly very upset that I pulled up and threw her arms up in annoyance. I’m so disappointed because I have sent many people to shop here and have always talked highly of this thrift store. Hopefully my next experience here is better, otherwise I will not be returning to purchase or donate.

Humble and very giving organization. Excellent customer service and excellent employees to go out of their way to help people. Truly blessed organization! Lots of respect for the director Chaplin Christina Avina.

I will NEVER attempt to donate here again. As I got out of my car I checked the time not realizing the posted store hours were different than donation hours. This incredibly RUDE man quickly came up to me and said "you checked your watch and you are still going to leave stuff?" I pointed to the sign on the door and said it says 9-3. He loudly said "store hours" as he grabbed the box i had just got out of my car. I took the box back so I wouldn't inconvenience this man with my donation. Never have I had someone be so rude for absolutely no reason. Good luck if you decide you want to attempt to drop something there. Apparently they aren't appreciative and will make you feel like you're doing something terrible. My donations will be going elsewhere from now on.
Courtney B — Google review
RUDE lady that works here. She was so rude that I will never set foot on that property again. I'll bring my donations and money else where. I'm angry at myself for donating so many boxes of nice things over the past few months as I'm on my minimalism journey. Wish I would have supported a different business, from now on I'll drive farther if I have to because how I was treated was not worth it. The audacity, you give someone nice things for free that they will make money on, and get kicked in the teeth in return. Edit to add , I just found out that this lady is the "boss" there. Definitely will never be back.

I went here for the first time and found so much stuff. Ok this is a real thrift store not one of those fancy ones that are over priced. I do a lot of crafts you know taking old things and making new things and this place is great for that. I found enough stuff to make three Jean purses and several fancy glass cups for candles . There is all kinds of stuff here so go take a look and if your like me and do crafts this place is a gold mine.

Park
Chaplin A. Dinkins III Memorial Park is a delightful gem nestled along the river, perfect for those seeking a serene escape. This charming park features shallow, crystal-clear waters ideal for swimming and fishing from the dock or shoreline. With shaded picnic tables and a covered pavilion, it’s an excellent spot to enjoy lunch while surrounded by nature. Families will appreciate the playground that keeps kids entertained, while adults can relax under mature trees offering respite from the sun.
This little park is great, right on the river, the water is shallow and very clear to swim in, cool and refreshing! fishing off the dock or shoreline is relaxing. Picnic tables are nicely shaded from the trees, and a covered pavilion is available. There is also a playground for the children to enjoy. The view is beautiful, of the water & small islands out in the river. It's peaceful to come here!

New to the area and decided to go for a drive to Rainbow Springs. Beware weekend explorers, unless you get to the springs and parks super early, you’ll either be waiting in long lines or you may be turned away ☹️. Each park/area has capacity numbers and will close once those are reached. So it was for us newbies and we drove the area until we found this spot. It was small yet exactly what we wanted for a picnic lunch. Super nice view of the river, bustling with kayaks, motor boats, paddle boards, canoes and the like. The ropes off “safe” section for waders, bathers or swimmers was a good size for all to enjoy. Water was super cold at 72 degrees but many were enjoying the dip. Gators are in the area so everyone needs to be mindful. Nice, “off the beaten path” place to visit, especially if the other park areas are full.

Small park with river access. Great views of the Rainbow River. Birds, turtles, and fish can be found here. There are signs about alligators being present in the area. There is a marked off area for swiming and a platform that you can fish from. The aquatic vegetation is thick against the platform. This park is pay to enter, $2 per person.

The path at Dunnellon Trailhead is a wonderfully scenic shorter (only a few miles) path for walking and biking. If you go to the left at the split you end up at the parking for Blue Run. I love this path for biking, especially when it’s very hot, because it’s mostly shaded with mature trees/canopy and runs alongside the river. The bridge has a couple cove/seating areas built in to stop and rest or just pause to take pictures of the river, the boats, waterfowl, wildlife etc. It’s serene and picturesque.

Outstanding place for a slow walk with the family or just take off on your adventure. Waterfalls, ponds with fish and birds, good walkpaths, places to sit and chill for awhile. A good mix of exotic and traditional plants and trees. We'll be going back.

Lugo's Grill offers an exceptional dining experience with genuine Cuban cuisine and warm hospitality. The aroma in the air is delightful, enticing patrons to indulge in flavorful dishes like the seafood paella, which impresses with its freshness, rich spices, and tender lobster. The Mahi fish and shrimp are also highlights of their menu, prepared to perfection. For dessert, their house-made flan comes in both egg and coconut varieties and is absolutely remarkable.
If you want delicious authentic Cuban food, this is definitely the place to go! The Paella was delicious! It had lobster, shrimp, mussels and mahi mahi throughout the dish along with plantain's! Others at our table had Cuban sandwiches and a stuffed chicken with shrimp in it! We highly recommend this restaurant! It is cash only.

What a delightful establishment that offers exceptional Cuban sandwiches. Ample parking is available at the rear. While it may appear small from the outside, the interior is surprisingly spacious. The open and inviting atmosphere is enhanced by the lovely decor. Please note that this establishment operates on a cash-only basis, although an ATM is conveniently available. The service is both swift and amiable. The menu presents a wide array of options, but my visit was solely for the Cuban sandwich. You may also choose to accompany your sandwich with rice and beans or fries. I sampled both, and the rice and beans were delightful, while the french fries were excellent. The food's authenticity is truly remarkable. We find great pleasure in having lunch here on Saturdays. It's a tranquil and pleasant spot, and they also provide a small outdoor seating area. We always opt to dine indoors. I wholeheartedly recommend this place. If you appreciate Cuban sandwiches, you are certain to enjoy it. And, by all means, do try the fries; they are delicious.

Great Cuban Restaurant! The cuban sandwich was on point. The tostones rellenos were dynamite. However, the real star was the ropa vieja, the shredded beef was incredibly tender and flavorful. Large portions. Great atmosphere and service. They do not serve alcohol BUT you can bring your own! Cash only but they have an ATM on site.

Hubby and I really enjoyed lunch here today! We shared and appetizer of ham croquettes that were fantastic and the green sauce that came with was so good! I usually can't do cilantro but was shocked to find it was a cilantro sauce! We also split a Pan con bistec (steak sandwich) that was amazing as well! The rice and beans was also lovely and we added that green sauce to it too! We will definitely be back with the family!
Nicole M — Google review
I had the best Cuban sandwich that I have ever tasted, and it was thick and huge. I haven’t been to Cuba or Miami but Lugo’s is closer 😁 and it was a great sandwich. The generous amount of meats were seasoned perfectly and served between perfectly pressed flaky and crunchy homemade bread. The pork sandwich, Tostones Rellenos, Jenny’s Special, Pollo Relleno Camarones, and Ropa Vieja were all superb too. All the food coming out of the kitchen looks delicious and generous portions. It is cash only which we are fine with, and they have an ATM machine. I can’t blame them for not wanting to deal with credit card fees. There is a history of the place/bar on the back of the menu worth reading. I only wish they served Yucca fries as a side option with their sandwiches because they would be a unique diversion from French fries. Sides here are French fries, rice and beans or sweet plantains, which are all very good. We made numerous visits recently and tried different entrees which were all delicious. Lolly, our server, is wonderful and always makes us feel welcome.

My wife and I decided to give this place a try. We ordered Ropa Vieja and Picadillo. Both dishes were delicious. The flavor and temperature of the food was outstanding. A bit pricey considering that Cuban bread wasn't included with the meals . Overall, a great place for authentic Cuban cuisine.

Excellent place to taste cuban food. Carlos and Laly give you VIP service. Plus, the place is like a museum. Just take a look of tables cover with cuba history before 1959, the wall with tiles pictures and the mythical counter in the bar, the original from 1862.

Stopped in on my way to another food place and thought “Homemade root beer, never tried it so let’s try something new.” Definitely wasn’t disappointed. I ordered chili cheese fries, a double burger, and the root beer. The burger was simple yet the patties had a good char to them. The fries were small and had a generous amount of chili and cheese and the root beer was crisp, cold and sweet. The simplicity is why I’m giving it 5 stars where others would rate lower. The portions are just right, a simple yet fresh burger was what I was craving and they definitely hit the spot.
Allen P — Google review
Ok, so I finally tried this place because I wanted to give it a good, honest try. It doesn't look like much from the outside and the owner is quite combatant on social media if people criticize the food or policies they have that don't make sense (like no option to leave a topping off a burger you don't like, just because it's a "special"... the 4 burgers for $8, come with pickles, mustard, and ketchup. If you ask to leave one of those off, they say NO and give an excuse about their staff needing to not be confused about making it...) so that has made me hesitant to even spend my hard earned money there. But here we go... Walking in the cashier, she was friendly enough. The inside was pretty bare bones with little to no decor except a bunch of Betty Boop and Popeye pictures from a coloring book that people can come in and color plastered all over the walls. Ordering was easy, and the wait time was short. I ordered the 8 burgers, mustard, ketchup, pickle as they came (no option to leave anything off...and my husband hates pickles) and 2 orders of fries. Paid about $25 and some change. I honestly was not impressed with the burgers themselves. They were just mediocre. Little flavor, and the pickles and mustard over powered everything else. (I like pickles) They looked like they were thrown together quickly. The buns were smashed and greasy. My husband, who pretty much eats anything, was not even impressed with the flavor or the appearance. He said it tasted kinda like McDonald's burger but not as much flavor. I hate McDonald's burgers, I thought these were a tad better. The fries were, you know, typical fries. And the bags were not filled very much, small portions for what I paid for the price of the fries. Overall, the price was good. Burgers were a decent size for a single patty and price per burger, but lacking flavor, appeal, and care. I wouldn't go back again for burgers. For a "burger place" they need to do better. For a better quality burger if thats what you're after in Dunnellon, I would go to Rough Stocks or Gruffs.. even Hardee's. Skip this place.

This is a nice little restaurant. Very simple, good food and friendly employees. I was very surprised and pleased as the how friendly and courteous the young teenage employees were. Great job to all at Paige's Root Beer. 👍

If you’re looking for a simple, nice little cafe stop, Paige’s Root Beer is a great choice. We are new to the area and decided to stop. All of the burgers are cooked off as a smash burger. A single is about 2 ounces of meat and double 4 ounces. I ordered the single with pepper jack cheese, tomato and pickle, small order of tots and ice water. They’ll add ketchup, mustard and mayo but I decided to just use the packets and add myself. The Mr ordered a double with tomato and lettuce, small fries and a large chocolate banana shake. Everything was good. The meat was really tasty. We will be back to give the homemade root beer a taste next. Total was right at $25 with tip so great prices!!

We were visiting this weekend to go tube down the spring and stopped in here to get a burger. The staff greeted us as we walked in and gave us the run down. We just got some double cheeseburgers (as advised by the cool dude taking our order) and fries. Had to try the home made root beer as well. Very inexpensive, fast, hot and overall delicious. The root beer was different than most and had a lot of flavor to it, not the typical flavor but definitely worth trying out to see if it’s for you when you go. If you’re around and want a good burger, go hit them up.
Adam W — Google review
First time. Service by Conner was excellent! No complaints there or on the old fashioned root beer. This is where the excellence stops. The rest is average or below. The food and Coke machine are an issue. Starting with the food, I love a good burger but when your product is less than fast food burger establishments like Hardee's or Burger King it's a big problem! Even the chili cheese fries or in our case tots were subpar!!! I have never had a grade school cafeteria sloppy Joe mix and liquid cheddar put on over cooked tots before. As I type we are picking up chili and have real cheese at home to do it right. I don't hate this place but it certainly doesn't tickle my fancy enough to recommend or come back. I'd rather go to any fast food burger place over this. When I want a good root beer float, I'll come back. Hoping breakfast is better!!!

Tasty comfort food done right! The Burgers are always great. I decided to try a shaved steak sandwich today. It came with provolone cheese and some caramelized onions for a great taste; like a Philly without the green peppers and hoagie roll. The chili on the chili cheese fries was very good; thick, rich, and like a Coney Island sauce (which I remember from childhood). The Tootsie Roll milkshake was very good, sometimes also reminding me of brownie ice cream or chocolate mousse. I would definitely get any of these selections again! Very friendly service and clean dining area. Kid friendly.

The best burgers in town! I love how I can customize my burger on the app and 15 minutes later (or less) its ready. The cooks do a fantastic job. The kids that work up front taking orders are always very respectful and polite. They call you by name and with a genuine smile. The managers and the owner are all so kind. Its refreshing to have such great service that feel genuine and rockin burgers! The local burger joint with awesome food and everyone is welcome and they know your name.100% recommend!!!

Ye Olde Sub & Pizza Pub is a new eatery in town that has received positive feedback from customers. The spaghetti and meatballs are tasty, although some feel the marinara could be thicker. Even picky eaters have enjoyed the veggie pizza and sub options. The staff is friendly and helpful, creating a welcoming atmosphere reminiscent of restaurants found in Athens. In addition to their delicious pizzas, they also offer other tempting menu items worth exploring.

Ordered take out for the kids and I for the first time from here for a quick dinner. We did the Tuesday pizza special and a pasta. The portion sizes are great and you get plenty for the price. However the pizza was disappointing to say the least. It was cold when we picked up, (like cheese hard cold by the time we got home) and sadly didn’t have much flavor. My oldest compared it to the box chef Boyardee pizza’s from childhood. Not horrible, but definitely not worth the $45. If that wasn’t bad enough, 3 bites in and my daughter gagged on a piece of long hair stir stuck in the pizza. Definitely won’t be returning in the future.

Tuesday pizza special $9 16" cheese $2 per item. Good deal. We had a pizza with bacon and pineapple. It was very good. Thin crust was good and the sauce is excellent. Also had a garlic cheese bread with pizza sauce on the side. Pretty much garlic bread with cheese on it. It was just ok, we prefer it made with pizza crust rather than garlic bread. Nothing wrong with it just not what we prefer. Friendly staff with good service. Will be back for pizza again.

Ordered the mild wings and broccoli butter and fresh garlic ziti. No mild sauce. No broccoli. Wings weren’t cooked crisp which is something most wing eaters expect. They were busy I’m sure that played into this. Staff was great but will not be coming back. This is my second time ordering from this restaurant and the second time the meal was wrong.

This is my first time and first experience to this restaurant. We ordered our dinner which was pizza and it was delivered to our car outside the restaurant. The staff that I met is very nice and polite. Before I can give my opinion about the pie but I ate I must have it again to confirm on how it tasted so wait until my next blog.

Went to go visit family in Florida and they took me to this pizza joint. Wait staff was nice, they took care us all of us. They looked to be a little under staffed when we were there. When our food arrived, it looked great and tasted better. The kids ordered a 16" Meat Lovers Pizza, I ordered the Ye Old Sub. Overall, we have a good meal and got out fairly cheap (compared to where I live). I talked to the owner and his wife on the way out and they said they just took it over less than a year ago. I was very impressed and wish them the best.

Leaves a lot to be desired. The food was ok, but the service was not. Facilities are very kitchy and in need of capital improvements.

A nice little pizza place with friendly staff and good food. Just FYI the medium calzone will feed two. 😊
