Victoria in 2 days

If you only have 2 days to spend in Victoria, we’ve narrowed down the top places you should check out to get the best experience of your time here.
Victoria, on Mahé Island, is one of the world’s smallest capitals, offering a relaxed blend of Creole culture, colorful markets, and preserved colonial-era architecture. Visitors can stroll past landmarks like the Clock Tower, Sir Selwyn Selwyn-Clarke Market, and the Hindu Arul Mihu Navasakthi Vinayagar Temple. Nearby, lush botanical gardens and forested hills give way to white-sand beaches and clear waters ideal for swimming, snorkeling, and boat excursions. Its compact size makes it easy to explore in a day while still serving as a gateway to the rest of the Seychelles.
With favorites like Sir Selwyn Selwyn-Clarke Market, La Dolce Vita, and Sam's Pizzeria, we’ll make sure you don’t miss out on all the must sees. We even included some of our favorite food spots around the area, like La Dolce Vita and Glorious bakery so you can get the best taste of Victoria while you’re here. To see our full list of food recommendations, check out our best restaurants post. If you're traveling on a budget, you can check out our cheap eats post.

The Sir Selwyn Selwyn-Clarke Market is a vibrant and bustling marketplace located in the heart of Victoria, Seychelles. This lively bazaar offers a delightful array of fresh local produce, aromatic spices, handmade crafts, and unique souvenirs. Named after a former English governor, this market provides an authentic glimpse into daily life on Mahe with its lively atmosphere filled with bright colors and the enticing scents of spices.
Nice small market with local fruits and vegetables and spices
Odi A — Google review
This is the local wet market for Mahe. It has fresh seafood, fruits, vegetables, and other daily "things" for sale here. The market building is typical French style and reflects the colonial period of French occupation.
C N — Google review
Small stalls and shops. Great for little souvenirs such as shells, hand crafted wooden items magnets etc but other than that not much to see or do. Local fruit & veg as well as large fish. Don’t go to Victoria just for the market you’d be disappointed.
Oliver R — Google review
This is the central market for fruits, vegetables, and fish in Victoria. It is bustling in the morning with the people doing their daily shopping. The second floor is the souvenir shops. Visit it in the morning. By 4pm, they behin closing down snd at 5, the market finishes.
Reza N — Google review
Smallish fresh fruit, fish and vegetables market, with spices and souvenirs as well. A popular tourist spot and locals also buy fresh ingredients from here. Drop by for some local produce
Leong L — Google review
This market is an epic place. It will be renovated very soon. So I am looking forward to the new look.
Sabrina S — Google review
Nice to be here with fresh fruits but above all fresh fishes like bonito ( type of tuna)
Hachim — Google review
This is a must see landmark in the center of Victoria. Lots of ppl and many things to see and explore. A bit smelly b’cause of the fish but I’m sure you can stand it. Also the area around the market is worth seeing.

Victoria Clock Tower, located in the heart of Victoria, is a picturesque gem and a must-see landmark. Inaugurated in 1903 to commemorate Queen Victoria's passing, it stands as a historical symbol of Seychelles' colonial past. The prime location near the post office makes it a popular spot for both locals and visitors seeking a momentary escape from the bustling town center.
I felt the Victoria clock was small until I saw this picture 1960's then it did feel so big back then
Abdullah B — Google review
The centre of Victoria. Nice place for a photo. A lot of local shops nearby with Sir Selwyn-Clark Market. A must see, ease visit.
Piotr M — Google review
Erected in 1903 in memory of Queen Victoria who passed away 2 years prior. This is a symbol of the last colonial power Great Britain. Clock might look small but you have to take yourself back in the day when this was towering high in the middle of a road. Now it is a busy area with lots of things to visit in walking distance. They have lots of souvenir shops, museums, restaurants- a nice happening place. It’s hard to miss if you are here in Mahé.
Tas A — Google review
Known as "Lorloz" by the locals, this clock symbolises the colonial heritage of Seychelles and the settlers who have called Seychelles home. It was erected in 1903 in memory of Queen Victoria, who had passed away two years earlier. At the time, it was an indication of the strong ties between Seychelles and Britain. Now, it adorns one of the busiest intersections of the capital, and it is impossible to miss it while you are there.
Reza N — Google review
It's quite laughable when you see it in person. A nothingburger, frankly. It's a small construction, the type of which you may also see in your local park. The history behind it is not extraordinary, either. There aren't many things to see in Victoria, so they had to include something on the list, I guess. I don't regret going, though. The overall atmosphere in Victoria is... interesting.

The Victoria Botanical Gardens, also known as Mont Fleuri Botanical Gardens Seychelles, were founded in 1901 and are now managed by the Ministry of Environment. This scenic preserve is a great spot for picnics and leisurely walks to admire the local flora and fauna of Seychelles. Visitors can marvel at giant tortoises, coco de mer trees, various palm species, fruit trees, and more.
Very beautiful garden with special flowers and trees Giant turtles are exist and you can feed them with your hand. Recommend
Odi A — Google review
Beautiful gardens with some wonderful plants. You feel very small standing next to some of these tropical giants. The main road from the entrance has a few coco de mer trees. There is a giant tortoise enclosure where you can walk amongst them and feed them. It was a great experience. I would say it's quite expensive (250 SCR per person). There are maps in some places but not everything is sign posted and not a whole lot of information. Having said that, it's still very nice to walk around and enjoy it all.
Arash S — Google review
I found this experience/attraction completely underwhelming. It's a small ground. The cafe was closed and had no signs indicating this. So there was numerous tourists walking to the cafe to find it closed with no other alternatives available for even refreshments on a hot day. The tortoises was by far the best thing in the botanical garden.
Abdul A — Google review
I love botanical gardens. And this one sure hit the spot with its rustic natural. Not too much man-made manicured corners. Love the exotic flowers and trees. Garden is a 1 hr walk and it has elevation too. However Lots of bench throughout the park to sit. So no worries. Park needs more sign to explain where and what the plants are. They only have maps. Some signs are ripped and not updated. Love the tortoise section. Enjoyed feeding them. Little kids were having a good time too. Restrooms are clean. They have hiked the price. It was 100 SCR now it is 250 SCR.
Tas A — Google review
Lovely gardens, interesting range of plants. Best bit definitely the tortoise enclosure (although I feel they should have more space and enrichment). Only negative is the ticket office only accept card payments, no cash.
Katherine L — Google review
Its a beautiful botanical garden with a great diversity of plants. Especially the amount of endemic plants they have is impressive! Though the place is not only interesting for plants but also for the birds that there are. We found multiple different species like the blue pigeon, tropic bird, bulbul, fodys, myna, kestrel and some more. Also there are lots of flying foxes that can be photographed very well if you are lucky! Also there is a café at the end which serves great good and smoothies. Highly recommend it!! The only thing that I find unnecessary is the tortoise enclosures. This kills the vibe for me a little bit and gives it a zoo atmosphere... Overall go there to enjoy the plants, wildlife and good food at the café. Its a very nice place!
Henk R — Google review
Being the first place we visited in Mahè it was an amazing entry experience. All the notes worthy trees are well labeled with a brief description. There were some stinging bugs at one point close to the cannon ball tree, but other than that we had a great time.
Cobus M — Google review
It is very nice, but not too much to see and do. The giant tortoises are a great to see, but other than that, not too much else to do. Kids are free though, which is great.

Hiking Trails
Copolia Trail is a popular hiking trail on Mahe Island, offering a challenging yet rewarding trek through dense jungle to a summit with stunning 360-degree views. The hike can be completed in less than an hour by the average hiker and offers encounters with carnivorous pitcher plants along the way. While the trail can get humid due to the rainforest environment, reaching the top rewards hikers with breathtaking panoramas of Victoria and Eden Island.
An amazing trek leading to the top of a mountain with breathtaking views over the island. The variety of plants and animals along the way – for those who pay attention – is truly stunning. You can park your car by the roadside near a small building where tickets are sold.
Dariusz S — Google review
Nice trail through the jungle with breathtaking views at the end. Gets quite steep in some sections, you'll be sweating a lot. Bring good shoes, enough water and a fresh t-shirt to change into after the trail. Not for people that are out of shape. About 90min there and back plus some time at the top.
Damir O — Google review
What a hike ….. and what a breathtaking view of Mahé at the end! All worth it. Trail is very very hard just to be clear. Elevation is one thing but the stepping stones are very big and wide that it is hard to get up. Even getting down required big steps and all hikers need to be careful while doing that. Despite no rain, it was still slippery for that action. So come prepared with hiking shoes, water, healthy snacks and bug spray. Enjoy the wilderness and you might be lucky to see baby hedgehog or a mouse and some big spiders.
Tas A — Google review
10/10 on the views you get after the hike. Hike is steep in the starting and in the last leg but it’s worth it. Wear some good shoes.
Harshit — Google review
Excellent moderate trail around 2 km within Morne Seychellois nature reserve park. Quite steep mainly uphill. Takes around an hour and 15 mins round trip. Views are stunning and worth the hike from the top. Small steel ladder to climb the last bit. Quite safe but wear good non slip shoes. Not recommended if it has been raining as it would be very slippery unless you are seasoned hikers.
Ashwini C — Google review
There’s a moment on the Copolia Trail when the forest hushes, and the granite opens up beneath your feet like a stage. You stand there—sweat-slicked, heart thudding—and the world unfolds in layers: Victoria’s rooftops glinting below, Eden Island floating like a dream, and the Indian Ocean stretching out in impossible shades of blue. The hike itself is a gentle challenge. Not too long, not too easy. Just enough to make you earn the view. Ferns brush your legs, cinnamon trees scent the air, and if you’re lucky, a Seychelles blue pigeon might glide past in silence. The trail winds through Morne Seychellois National Park, and every step feels like a quiet conversation with nature. At the summit, the granite slabs are warm underfoot. You sit. You breathe. And for a few minutes, you forget the clock, the shift schedule, the noise. It’s just you, the wind, and the vastness. Copolia isn’t just a hike—it’s a reset. A reminder that beauty doesn’t shout, it whispers. And sometimes, the best views come after a little effort and a lot of stillness.
SREE — Google review
Nice climb up the mountains to an amazing view. Path is well carved and marked with painted dashes. Difficulty is easy to medium, you’ll stay fully erect on your feet for most of it. There’s a small ladder for the steepest part. With stops to take pictures on the way you can expect about 1.5 hours each way, including the chillout session at the top. Views are great. Bring some sunblock and shades for maximum enjoyment at the top. Highly recommended.
Khidhir A — Google review
The trail is so easy to follow, easy level if you're fit and have no injuries. Should take you 2.5 hours max. Fully covered with trees until you reach the top. Unfortunately I could not see the Victoria and the Island because of weather conditions and drizzles but nevertheless it was quite an enjoyable trail... I went on my own and felt completely safe. Look out for the pitcher plant when you get to the top...

Hiking Trails
The Morne Blanc Trail offers a challenging yet rewarding hike through an old tea plantation and mist forest to reach a clifftop viewing platform with stunning sea views. The trail is marked from the road and the path is relatively clear, but sturdy footwear and ample water are necessary as some sections require scrambling. The summit provides spectacular panoramic vistas of the island that make the trek well worth it for those who are in good physical condition and take their time.
Morne Blanc Trail is a must-do in Mahé! The hike goes through lush forest with a steep climb – about 1 hour up and 40 minutes down – but it’s absolutely worth the effort. The panoramic view from the top is breathtaking and unforgettable. 🌿🏞️
Yafit K — Google review
Wanted to get a solid hike in while in the Seychelles, overall I would describe it as "not worth it for the effort". The hike described online was moderate but at the trail itself had a sign that it was hard. You are pretty much going uphill the entire trail, the rocks you need to climb over get larger and larger to the point where I was frequently on all fours. My wife and I are pretty fit, but this was surely challenging because of the steep steps. The view at the top is nice, but not worth the effort it took. We were also stuck up there in the rain, but I'm trying to factor that out of my review. Took us 1 hour 45 minutes to go up and down with a decent stop at the top. There is street parking on the road.
Kevin B — Google review
Very beautiful hike through the jungle with breathtaking viewpoint at the end. Bring water, fresh t-shirt and appropriate shoes, beach flip-flops definitely not recommended. About 90min there and back, pretty steep on some sections. It's a shame that you have to backtrack the same way, would be even better if there was another path back. Parking on the main road, not the best, but manageable. No entry fee.
Damir O — Google review
No fee, free street parking. Mostly shady jungle trail. Well marked steep incline. Took us about 50min up and 30min down. Bring extra water. The clouds parted and we got a nice view at the top.
Alyssa B — Google review
Very nice trail in the deep forest with awesome views. The trail almost goes up the hill all the time. Bring good shows with you, no flip-flops!
B G — Google review
Morne Blanc is one of the hardest trails I’ve done in Seychelles. The path is steep and challenging, so be ready for a tough climb. But the lush green forest along the way is beautiful and peaceful. You’ll enjoy amazing views during the hike — they really make the effort worth it. I enjoyed every minute of the trail. However, I was a bit disappointed with the space at the top. I expected a wide open area like Copolia, but it’s quite small and cramped. The biggest problem is transportation. It’s very hard to find a bus or taxi to return to the capital after the hike. The best option is to go with your own vehicle or arrange transport in advance.
Sree — Google review
Amazing experience! Highly recommended to visit. Please note that Seychelles are covered with clouds and fog,so you have to wait for sometime for the view to clear up! It was very beautiful to see it by our own eyes and activity was great!
Ангелина Х — Google review
Morne Blanc Trail: Did it around noon in light drizzle. The trail is short but tough after ~200m (rocky uphill). At the top I only saw clouds, but on clear days the view is amazing. Transport: Took the bus via Victoria (SCR 10 each way). On return, no bus for an hour, so hitchhiked and paid SCR 100 back to Beau Vallon. Buses are cheap but infrequent, so plan extra time. Guide or No Guide? Honestly, no need for a guide. Trails are well-marked, entrance fees are now on a single online platform. Today I saw guides just walking ahead silently, not engaging with clients, not even clicking photos. Unless you want a naturalist to explain plants/animals, self-hiking is better. ✅ Tip: Carry water, good shoes is a must , and patience with buses.

Nice designed restaurant in Victoria with warm welcome by its staff. The attention and chat was very good, and the food came in quick time, was delicious and good looking. Big portions and good prices. Recommended 100%

Went with the family for dinner, service is good Atmosphere was also good with live music outside. Food is okay but depends to what is expected and to what to compare. Over all give it a try when you in Victoria. This is our second visit, first was three years ago ))
Dmitrijs L — Google review
Slightly more expensive The food average and overate. Atmosphere is good I ordered fish curry, which was the least nice comparing the last 3 places. So far, the best fish currys I had are from the Takeways places. Under 100 SRC and this place 295 SRC My wife's chicken sandwich only had egg inside, I told the guy with Indian accent guy. He was like yeah there are strips of it and had nothing inside, and then he walked off back to the pizza area. Then the other colleague saw our reaction and came over, took the food, and actually then had chicken inside.

La Dolce Vira is a very good restaurant in downtown Victoria in Mage Island to have something. The staff are very well-trained and professional and the quality of the food is very good. I had Bolognese pizza, and I loved the taste of it. There is both indoor and outdoor sitting areas.

I had the most delightful experience at La Dolce Vita restaurant: 1. The Italian coffee was divine, especially after 14 days of traveling through Seychelles. 2. The pizzas were scrumptious with a perfect crust. 3. The staff was incredibly friendly, and the service was quick. 4. The ice cream was to die for, and I highly recommend the cheesecake flavor. 5. The prices were reasonable considering the Seychelles norms. 6. The peaceful garden/patio provided a wonderful ambiance. Overall, it was a fantastic dining experience, and I'll definitely be returning! 🍕☕🍨😊

I’ve been here multiple times for lunch and breakfast, and the experience is consistently pleasant. The staff are always friendly and welcoming, which adds to the warm atmosphere. The coffee stands out — absolutely amazing every time, definitely one of the highlights! They also offer a great variety of ice creams and desserts, which were delicious and worth trying. The food was okay overall, but I didn’t enjoy it as much as I had hoped. . Still, the place has a nice vibe, making it a great spot to relax, have a drink, and enjoy some snacks.

We stayed at this place for three hours as long we were waiting for our driver to take us to the airport. Very friendly, polite and the place is really clean. Amazing pizza also.
Theodoros M — Google review
The place is good if you want to hang out with friends for drinks. I won’t recommend an outing as a family. Exhaustive list of drinks and food. However, on our reservation, sadly, the food took 45 mins to arrive. We were given a complementary pizza due to the fact that food was taking long. The burger I ordered wasn’t cooked well. You could still taste the raw soya sauce. The salad also wasn’t that good. Though the waitress seemed a bit nice, that’s a plus. We were seated outside which was good as we had fresh air but bit of an issue if there was rain. Bit disappointed as I’ve heard so many good reviews. On a separate day, I waited for like a good 15mins just for a small coffee order. I can understand the guys are under a lot of stress but they have to cope.

The place looks very nice, compared to the other cafes we have seen in Victoria. The waiters were also very attentive. We ordered a club sandwich, which was fine. Unfortunately we didn’t have good experience with chicken so far in Seychelles, as it’s cheaply imported most probably. Then we ordered 2 iced coffees which were very delicious and then we had a cake and a doughnut. The pastries were quite dry unfortunately. So I would give an overall rating of 4 Stars to this place. ⭐️

I didn’t like the patty in burger. It was definitely frozen but we are on the island and probably there’s nothing can be done about it. Anyway, service was good, portion was big. There is no WiFi though. And price is quite high, 16€ for a burger. Touristy place.

Sam's Pizzeria is a cozy restaurant with a pleasant ambiance and friendly staff. The food is well-presented and bursting with delightful flavors, from the incredibly delicious pizza to the excellent prawn linguini pasta. The refreshing mojito perfectly complements the fantastic food. Despite its limited space, this place offers great value for money and an amazing setting. What a nice hidden restaurant! Good modern furniture, quick and friendly service, fair prices and good value! Can totally recommend! ✅

I had dinner on my last night in Victoria, and it was a very good experience in Sam's Pizzeria. Their menu is not limited to only pizzas and their serve steaks and seafood as well. Their pizzas come on thin crust, and it is big in portion. It seemed like they were understaffed at the time I visited since one person was responsible for everything there, from taking orders to serving and bringing the bill. It would be nice if they raise the number of their staff.

We went there so you do NOT have to go there!!! That this restaurant is still open is a huge mystery for me. Workers there are looking reality show on the tv super load and do not turn it off when guest arrives, do not know very well English. Pizza dough is a finished peace and the chef just add the ordered topping on it, bacon was just fat and no meat. I got 4 small pieces of ribs that was precooked, not even warm when served and the have they the balls to change higher prices then what is standing on the menu. I highly recommend you to NOT go there and I mean this for you own good and to spend that money on something waaaay better then that!!

Indian restaurant
Mahek Restaurant is an Indian gourmet dining spot located within the Coral Strand hotel in Beau Vallon, just a short distance from Savoy. The restaurant offers a wide selection of traditional Indian cuisine served in antique ware and features a show cooking kitchen where guests can observe the chefs at work. While specializing in vegetarian dishes, Mahek also provides options for non-vegetarian fare. Visitors can enjoy views of the waves lapping on Beau Vallon beach from window seats inside the fully air-conditioned restaurant.
A Truly Delightful Experience at Mahek Indian Restaurant! Our recent visit to Mahek Indian Restaurant in Seychelles was an highlight of our trip! A special shout-out must go to Neel, who took incredible care of us throughout the evening. His attentiveness, warm hospitality, and knowledgeable recommendations made us feel so welcome and ensured every need was met. It's rare to encounter such dedicated service, and Neel truly elevated our experience. The food was simply excellent. Every dish we ordered was bursting with authentic flavors, perfectly spiced, and beautifully presented. It was clear that great care goes into preparing each meal. We particularly loved the masala tea – it was the perfect comforting end to our delicious dinner. Beyond the fantastic food and service, the restaurant boasts beautiful views of the Indian Ocean right along the beach. And to top it all off, the menu was reasonably priced, offering fantastic value for such high-quality food and an unforgettable setting.

This place is an excellent find for delicious dining in Seychelles. Really good service and excellent dishes and located directly on the beach. Reasonable prices, not much higher than in Europe and some dishes even lower. If craving Indian food, this place is worth a try. They are also very generous in portion sizes.

All vegans we know the Indian restaurants are one of the safer places to eat something if you don’t have a vegan restaurant in your town. Much plates are vegetarian but with some changes you can eat a lot of plates and tasty also.

Everything was very tasty and fresh. Very nice mango lassi. The restaurant at the beach with ocean view. Nice service. We’ve ordered: • STARTERS: - masala fish finger (Rs 190): tasty with indian spices • NON VEGETARIAN MAIN COURSE: - nadan lamb curry krela (Ra 350): succulent lamb curry with southern spices and coconut: very tasty! - Mahek fish curry (Rs 250): fish, onion, tomato, garlic, brinjal, potato, chilli, curry leaves: sooo good!😍

Good food, the tandoori chicken was delicious. The curry of the butter chicken was good but the chicken itself was smelly and chewy. Nice location, lots of seating and staff is good.

It’s our favourite place to eat. Absolutely delicious food and super friendly staff. I recommend the octopus masala, black squid ink chicken, fish fingers, but honestly you could choose anything, because so far anything we ate was delicious. The view is amazing too, you can watch the sunset from the terrace.

A lovely Indian restaurant with a warm atmosphere. They offer plenty of vegan options, and the staff and chef are happy to adapt dishes upon request.

Mahek Restaurant, located within the Coral Strand Smart Choice Hotel at Beau Vallon Beach, is a must-visit for authentic Indian cuisine in Seychelles. The restaurant offers a delightful ambience, with both indoor and outdoor seating that enhances the dining experience. The staff is warm and welcoming, and the food quality is excellent with a wide variety of options to choose from. Chef Joe along with other staff members personally ensured that our dining experience was exceptional, customizing dishes to suit our preferences. We especially loved his signature dessert, 'Anjeer aur Dahi ki Lau', which was simply outstanding. The masala tea we had here was the best of our entire trip. I would highly recommend Mahek Restaurant to anyone craving Indian food while visiting Seychelles.

Day 2

South side of town
For day 2, we recommend exploring the south side side of town. Start the day off with Port Launay Beach, then wind down and take it easy by the time you get to Trois Fréres Nature Trail. All together, your day would be filled with about 7 hours of non-stop fun.

Public beach
Port Launay Beach is a stunning and calm beach located near Constance Ephelia hotel. It offers easy access, plenty of shade in the morning and early afternoon, and is close to Baie Terney for superb snorkeling. The marine life here is pristine, but visitors are urged to exercise caution and use coral-friendly sunscreen. While the beach may get crowded due to its proximity to a 5-star hotel, it provides a picturesque setting with small islands and boats.
Nice beach with hotel on the coast. It is possible to go to the hotel bar, maybe even to the restaurant, but we didn't try that. There aren't many options here where to get something to eat, or it's not worth much, so I recommend bringing something with you.
Michal V — Google review
A beautiful surroundings with beach mainly surrounded by the Hotel Constance Ephelia but public access is easy from one corner. However, it’s a bit run down with almost no public facilities or sufficient car park. There are sea sports and motor boats crowding the small area and sea at time smells of fuel. There are no decent place to have snack or drink.
Mas H — Google review
A nice beach, crowded when the weather is good, but not the best spot for snorkeling, as there isn’t much to see underwater.
Izabella M — Google review
Port Launay Beach is a calm and relaxing spot with soft sand and clear water. It’s great for swimming and snorkeling, and you can see colorful fish and coral close to shore. The beach is surrounded by green hills, which makes the view even more special. It’s easy to reach and good for families or anyone looking to enjoy nature. Sometimes it gets a bit crowded, but there’s still space to relax. There are a few places nearby to eat or grab a drink. Overall, a lovely beach to spend the day. My husband even named it the best Beach in Seychelle :)
Monika S — Google review
Very beautiful beach (one of the best on Seychelles) with wonderful views and also many beautiful fisches (one of the best beaches for snorkeling). It's very clean. Also there's a bus stop nearby, so to commute it's very easy. Definitelly recommend
MathematicaLeaf — Google review
It’s to be honest not one of my top 5 beaches here, coral reefs are DEAD … if you swim along the rocks near the shore line you will see some beautiful fish but you will see all the broken bleached coral shells on the sea bed… watch out for the coconut salesman he ripped me off saying he would bring me my change …. Never saw him again… pretty sad to be honest that they stole as little as 2 Euros …nevertheless if you go here have a great day out with your family and friends.
Darren R — Google review
Stunning gem of a beach, lots of coral, lots of fish and fairly well priced water sports. Lovely locals. We were all however bitten to bits by sand flies. One of us had over 25 bites. Ample parking.
Sean P — Google review
Beach is nice, sand is nice, also in the water, no rocks, so very safe for kids. But it's full of beach chairs (under the trees) , because of the resort. Snorchelling is not that good here, small visibility because of the sand, only near the rocks (with giant cross) there was better visibility and we saw some fish, although on beaches like Takamaka the fish were much bigger and water visibility much clearer. But we were lucky and saw Manta here.

Mountain peak
Morne Seychellois is a challenging and stunning trail located within the Morne Seychellois National Park, which boasts the highest mountain in Seychelles. The hike to the mountain top offers steep forest terrain and breathtaking views. It's recommended to hire a guide for this demanding 4-5 hour trek, as the rough terrain can be difficult to navigate. Once at the summit, hikers are rewarded with incredible 360-degree views of Mahe island.
I did this trail alone. Absolutely loved it but was glad I had the right shoes on and enough Hydration. It's not child's play. You need some level of fitness to conquer it. Unfortunately, it's was very cloudy and I couldn't view anything but, I embraced the flag
Boyd C — Google review
The difficulty rating is off. It says hard but do not be fooled. The climb is not for people looking for a chilled hike. For that I would do Copolia as it has in my opinion the better view for effort on a hike. The forests you walk through were incredible and I truly did feel like I was in the middle of the jungle. Be careful of stepping on snakes and running into massive spiders. Luckily, the snake species on Seychelles are harmless. I would recommend for people who are searching for more extreme adventure. The trail was not kept well as many parts are overgrown.

Morne Seychellois is the highest peaks in Seychelles measuring about 900 m above sea level. It is visible from all sides of the island. It is part of the National Park.
Asrade A — Google review
I think people is confusing Morne Seychellois National park and the actual Morne Seychellois mountain top. Morne Seychellois (the mountain top) is the highest peek on Mahe, it’s a bit difficult and challenging to get there mostly around 4-5hrs up depending on your speed consisting of rough terrain, most of which at times is not maintained well. I recommend using a guide for this but once you’re on top in the clouds, the views are amazing! It’s a 360 view of Mahe island. Now, Morne Seychellois National Park is the area that covers Morne Blanc hike trail, Copolia hike trail, Casse Dent Trail, Salazie Trail, Mission Lodge (Venns Town) amongst many others.

Unfortunately, the Casse Dent Trail is abandoned and not well-maintained. However, despite encountering numerous dead ends along the way, determined hikers have managed to complete the entire trail in 5 hours. This challenging hike requires keen perceptiveness to stay on track and avoid getting lost. Although it offers a unique opportunity to connect with nature without human interference within the National park, caution should be exercised due to its inherent danger.
Did this in September 2025 on a rainy day. Got here using the bus 'Port Launay via Sans Soucis' from Victoria bus terminal (Need a bus card). The bus driver stopped us further down near tea factory which was a 20mins walk to start of trail. Must have: Good shoes for the rocky terrain and at least 1.5 litres of water. Bring adequate energy snacks We finished at 'Dan zille' Belombre after about 3hours45mins.

Very beautiful trail on the deep forest BUT: needs a good level of fitness since the path is not always clear from casse dent to la mare aux cochons, but very well indicated despite the sign saying that it’s closed. IMPORTANT to know: the path down from la mare aux cochons to Port Glaud is marked as closed and this one should not be tried: path in very bad condition and without indications : we got lost in the deep forest and had to turn back eventually. Walking down from la mare aux cochons to Bel Ombre is a clear path though. Too bad we had left our car in Port Glaud aiming at finishing our hike there! :)

cassedent 2.6km one way start from sans soucis. cross river head to mare cochon..down dan bernard and you'll finish in belombre as at june 2025 the cassesent trail has been cleared and marked with c/tapes ...sooo now's your chance to discover the trail without any hassle... it wont be like this for long🤪😅

LENGTH: 8.2 KM (5.1 MI.) TIME: 4 HRS DIFFICULTY: HARD TOTAL ASCENT/DESCENT: 843 M (2,766 FT.) Here you find yourself in the middle of a former agricultural area where various crops were cultivated over the years: patchouli, cinnamon, tea, and more. Large trees were then planted for lumber production: mahogany (Swietenia macrophylla) and santol (Sandericum koetjape). After an initial ascent, the trail slopes downward, becoming a little tricky due to the wet, sometimes muddy soil. This moisture is a boon to the mosses that grow on the spines of the latanier palm. Take care on the rocks, as they can be slippery. Here you can observe tiny ferns that are still something of a mystery; they are currently being studied by scientists. Another remarkable species in this forest is the tree fern known locally as the “fanjon“. The trail crosses several ravines, so it can be a bit of a roller coaster. At the bottom of one descent, you will see the crumbling stone walls of a former distillery on a plateau. After several dozen meters, you will see two peaks in an opening on the left; the one on the right is none other than Morne Blanc. Further down the path you can spot the islands off the west coast. You will then cross through a forest of cinnamon trees. A little further on you will come to a ravine choked with large boulders where the parasol pandans flourish, stretching toward the sunlight on their aerial roots. After a small river, the trail slopes upward slightly to the right, flanked by spectacular uprooted silk trees that have fallen over from their own weight. After a little more than 2 km, you will cross a series of footbridges that span a ravine that is much deeper than the ones that came before. On the side of the path you might see the famous Seychelles wolf) snake, an endemic species, from time to time. Keen-eyed hikers will also spot small orchids on the slopes. At the top of a rise, once you have left the forest, you will be treated to more vistas of the west coast. After a little over 4 km (2.5 mi.) you will turn to the right at a black glacis in the Mare aux Cochons valley and head in the direction of Port Glaud. This is the halfway point of the hike. A bit further on you can stop to enjoy the waterfall and catch your breath. After this refreshing stop, you will climb the ladders on the right, then begin the final descent to the coast. At this point you will see a path on the right that leads to Bel Ombre. Our route continues to the left toward Port Glaud and Mont d’Or, which are 2 km and 1 km (1.2 mi and 0.6 mi.) away, respectively. After this intersection, on the left, do not miss the ruins of a still at what was once a major distillery. Be careful on your way down as you cross a series of large boulders; these can be slippery. This section is challenging and you will need to follow the markings carefully. After 5.2 km (3 mi.), a small path leads into the vegetation to the right. After 30 m or so, it opens out onto an incredible view of the Constance Ephelia hotel and its peninsula, as well as Port Launay, the Marine Park and Sainte Thérèse island.

Lookouts
Mission Lodge, also known as Venn's Town, is a popular tourist destination located in Seychelles. This attraction features a forested mountaintop that offers stunning views of the coastline and includes remains of an 1800s missionary school. For those interested in history and architecture, Mission Lodge provides an insightful experience. Additionally, there is a viewpoint which was specially built for Queen Elizabeth's visit to Seychelles that offers an excellent sunset view from its observation deck.
There’s a hush that greets you at Venn’s Town. Not silence, exactly—but the kind of quiet that feels earned. The kind that wraps around your shoulders like mist and memory. Nestled in the hills above Victoria, this place isn’t loud with history—it’s gentle with it. The crumbling stone walls of the old missionary school don’t demand attention. They invite reflection. You stand among the ruins, and it’s as if the forest is holding its breath, letting you listen to what once was: the laughter of children, the rustle of pages, the echo of hope. The view from Mission Lodge is cinematic—layers of green folding into the sea, clouds drifting like slow thoughts. But it’s not just about the scenery. It’s about the feeling. You come here expecting a lookout. You leave with a sense of perspective. There’s no café, no crowd, no curated experience. Just nature, history, and the kind of stillness that makes you want to write something down. 🕊️ Best visited alone, or with someone who understands silence.

This is a ruin of an old school for the slaves. On the very top is a viewing platform where Queen Elizabeth has breakfast here. Overall, a good historical area to learn some of the darker history of this island.
C N — Google review
Its a must visit place, if you’re interested in a mix of history, nature, and panoramic views. Located in the lush hills of Mahe, the site offers a fascinating glimpse into Seychelles’ colonial past. It was once a school for liberated slave children in the 19th century, and you can still see the remnants of the stone foundations and informative plaques detailing its significance. After a short and pleasant hike through the surrounding forest (nothing too strenuous), we reached a viewpoint that absolutely took our breath away. From there, you get sweeping views over the west coast of Mahe, with endless ocean stretching out in front of you and lush greenery all around. It’s a quiet, reflective place, perfect for those who enjoy a bit of history and nature combined. The only reason for not giving it five stars is that some parts of the site could use a bit more maintenance and signage, but overall, it’s well worth the visit.

Venn's Town (Mission Ruins) is a serene and picturesque spot offering stunning views of the ocean and surrounding hills. It's perfect for nature lovers and those interested in history. The peaceful atmosphere makes it ideal for a relaxing visit. However, be prepared for limited facilities. Overall, it's a beautiful and worthwhile destination.
Buddika P — Google review
Spectacular view place over the whole area, one that even the Queen Elisabeth had visited to firmly establish the site. The vegetation, combined with the proximity of the sea, make an awe inspiring place to start a meditation.

Sabrina S — Google review
I've read about Venn's Town but came across it by coincidence on our travels. Stunning lookout points & l appreciated the peacefulness. I liked that the trees were labeled so you could learn in the process. We were in flip-flops & managed fine to do the walkabout which isn't too long. However we did not go to the cemetery part, we walked for a bit but the terrain is a little different & good shoes are needed. It would be great to have an indication of the distance on this areas so you know if it's something you want to do, we eventually turned back. I would also suggest a clean up on the walk way to the cemetery, broken glass is a hazard & the car parts is just eerie.

Hiking Trails
Trois Freres is a challenging yet rewarding hiking trail on Mahe. The intermediate-level hike offers stunning views and an adrenaline rush for adventure seekers. The trail starts at Sans Souci road, where hikers navigate through a paved road past small homes before reaching the entrance. The initial part of the trail to the viewpoint is relatively easy, but it becomes more demanding as it leads through steep jungle paths and rocky terrain.
For those who like adventure it's a great experience! Trail up to the viewpoint is very easy, but the real fun starts afterwards. You'll have to climb through a jungle on the steep path, but the ending is the best - going through rocky trali up to the exposed top. Would not recommend it to anyone who is arfaid of heights or doesn't like bigger efforts.

Make sure you follow the directions of the trail. We got lost a little bit. Nice view, but I still prefer Copolia and Morne Blanc trails.
Evey — Google review
Great hike, though I would call it intermediate not easy. We did not go all the way to trois freres cross, we just did the "1 hour" trail to the overlook. Pretty simple to navigate although finding the start of the trail was a bit tough. From the sign at sans souci road (to the entrance of the trois freres trail) you will walk up a paved road past many small homes. The paved road ends at a small guest house where you will see three possible paths. You want to take the middle path, laid out by large rocks going into the forest (do not take the stairs to the left and do not go on the unpaved road which is further right). We saw pineapple plant and pitcher plants right on the main trail. It took us 1.5 hours to complete at a moderate pace.

The Trois Fréres Nature Trail offers an exhilarating hiking experience that combines stunning views with a touch of adventure. While the trail is generally accessible, it does present some challenges, particularly in its steeper sections where ropes are provided for support. The ascent takes about an hour, and descending can be trickier than expected, so it's essential to tread carefully to avoid slips. Starting from the ticket office, visitors will find parking nearby before embarking on a short walk to the trailhead.
A much easier path than the Morne Blanc. Previously installed steps are missing in a few places. Wonderful nature at your fingertips and a downright stunning view from the final spot under the roof. Highly recommended to all!

Quite a difficult walk/climb and can be quite slippery despite ropes to hang onto higher up. It takes an hour up and the same time down. Down is actually more difficult and challenging. View on top is very nice, but I would not risk a broken ankle doing the walk if you are a bit unfit. Costs 150 SCR/person. You can park at the ticket office and then you walk up about 150m to the start of the trail. Toilets near to ticket office

This was probably our last meal at Seychelles of our honeymoon & definitely had the best & comforting experience eating Asian food. Loved the polite and heartily service. Ordered papaya salad, Thai coconut soup, pad Thai & chilli paneer. We asked them to make everything vegetarian and they did it effortlessly. Taste was amazing. At the end chef came to meet us and asked for the food review. Also chef gave us a complimentary dessert from his side. And there was long waiting, so it’s mandatory to save your spot before a day or two I guess but unfortunately we were here only for a night so we didn’t get the table first, but luckily there was a free spot later.

I had lunch there with my daughter whilst on holiday. It is set right on the water edge. The sea view is amazing. The food was lovely . My daughter had tomato pasta from the kids menu. She loved it! I recommend this restaurant.

Del Place Restaurant is an absolute gem - easily one of the best dining experiences we had in Seychelles. Set right by the water with breathtaking sunset views, it offers a perfect mix of relaxed luxury and island charm. The seafood was exceptional - fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented - especially the grilled fish and octopus, perfectly cooked and seasoned. The service was warm, professional, and genuinely friendly, making us feel truly welcome. With its stunning location, impeccable food, and inviting atmosphere, Del Place captures the essence of Seychelles and is a must-visit for anyone who loves great dining with a view.

Highly recommended! 🌟 If you are visiting Mahé Island, this restaurant is a must. The terrace is simply wonderful, offering a beautiful view of the small harbor — the perfect spot to relax and enjoy a meal. The Creole starters are absolutely delicious, full of authentic flavors, and the service is attentive yet friendly. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, making it an excellent place to enjoy both the food and the setting. Definitely worth a visit!

The view is perfect- right on the water. The shrimp had a little too much breading, flavor would have been great even without the breading. The fish was delicious!

Restaurant
Marie Antoinette Restaurant is a renowned dining establishment in Seychelles, popular among locals and visitors alike. Since its opening in 1972, the restaurant has maintained its rustic charm and relaxed ambiance. Housed in a historic colonial mansion over 100 years old, it offers authentic Creole Seychellois cuisine with a menu that has remained unchanged over the years. Dishes such as batter-fried parrotfish, tuna steaks, and chicken curries are among the favorites.
Marie Antoinette Restaurant tempted us with an interesting menu item, consisting of local Creole specialties, .... and it was a real feast for our taste buds. It doesn't happen often that we order the same dishes again .... we came back here twice for the Creole specialties 😛. For us it is a must-try when traveling to Seychelles.

A charming, cosy restaurant about 10 mins walk from central Victoria. The menu is not large but some good Creole options on there. We had eggplant fritters which were really nice. Tried the mango salad which ended up being sliced mango and onions in some juice (was nice but not what I expected). Prawn curry was lovely. Grilled fish was also nice but nothing Creole about it really. There is a giant tortoise enclosure at the back as well 😊 service was very friendly and always with a smile.

Marie Antoinette is the best restaurant we experienced in Seychelles! The Creole food was outstanding – we ordered the tasting menu and every single dish was excellent. The atmosphere is authentic and charming, and the service was warm and welcoming. Truly a must-visit for anyone looking to enjoy real Seychellois cuisine. 🌺🍴✨

What began as a simple wooden house three generations ago has been lovingly built into a fabulous restaurant and boutique hotel. The restaurant has the charm and decor of the old days, including original wood floors of the house. The granddaughter of the founder continues her tradition of authentic Creole cuisine in the style of her grandmother. I had the set menu, and every dish was delicious. If you are looking for an authentic place for Creole flavor, then this is your stop.

It’s a traditional spot and a good choice if you want to try local food. They offer set menus with small portions of different dishes, which is great for tasting a bit of everything. We tried both the vegetarian and regular menus, and most dishes were good — except for the main curry, which lacked flavor. Overall, we expected a bit more from a place that’s so highly recommended for this type of cuisine.

Had a lovely experience. The service was exceptional. We tried the creole platter and Octopus curry. Everything was great.

We have been at this restaurant twice and really liked the atmosphere of the place. You get solid creole food for a fair price (compared to what you pay for worse food at some of the big resorts). One of the highlights are the giant tortoises in the backyard - very cute to greet them after dinner. All in all a very enjoyable experience!
