Bautiful plaza de Armas with the usual church,fontain and mamy opportunities ro sit down and watch the surroundings. There is always something happening,like a parade,people singing,dancing,street vendors. Most of the time you can get drinks,ice cream,popcorn or other sorts of food.

The square was very busy due to carnival festivities. The music was lovely and the kids bands were bright and cheerful. I will return for a slower day soon. The grounds are well maintained and pretty.

It is a nice park to visit when the sun is out. You can also walk from here to the oldest barrio in the city. There were major earthquakes in the 40s and 70s that leveled the town. Only a small area survived. It is close to the anthropological museum as well.

It's a nice little museum with some very interesting pieces shown. in the outside-area there is a garden with sculptures and many benches to hangout. the price was 7 Soles for adults of any nation. one thing i can not understand is: why the descriptions are only in spanish. on the walls there is a lot of space to put the texts in english too. it would be a great upgrade for many tourists visiting Huaraz and the museum.

Great local beers (you can also find at Novaplaza) Breakfast is definitely better than their dinner. Ground beef wasn’t very flavourful but had lots of rice and a sauce. Breakfast omelette was packed with veggies. Highly recommend omelette breakfast. Skip the tamale, literally a tiny piece of chicken hidden in crumbly bread. On the pricier side in Huaraz, popular place for foreigners/hikers.

I eat a meat burger, it was really good but it was lacking on other ingredients, the meat itself was great. I just didn't like the music choice, i don't expect to travel to the Andean mountain and listen western American music. Either way, great place to eat

A absolute must if you’re in Huaraz. So many meals here at all times of the day and was exceptional. Cant say how many times we were there but can say we nearly ate the whole menu and everything was super delicious.

Probably the worst market I've ever visited. There is minimal food hygiene here. The fish and meat is just dotted around everywhere and not in its own section. The place stinks, there is blood and guts all over the floor, rotting fruit and veg. It's disgusting and put me off eating in the restaurants, due to the way the meat was stored here.

Fantastic little place with a simple but beautifull curry & Mexican menu. A weird combo.. I agree but both tasted fantastic and helped us on the climb to Laguna 69! This. Was. Awesome. They have 3 cuisines: Mexican, Indian and Thai. We had mexican and thai. Portions were huge and I mean huge, and the taste was so exquisite. A lot of veggies too which we really needed. Prices are about average but definitely fair. I could eat here all days I’m in Huaraz so definitely give this one a try!

We recently visited this restaurant and unfortunately had a disappointing experience. Despite ordering a soup as a starter, it was brought out with the main dish which got cold indeed. The service was also lacking and did not meet our expectations. As a result, we left feeling dissatisfied and would not consider returning in the future. While the food itself was decent, the overall experience was negatively affected by the poor service.

Absolutely horrible, do not go here!! We sat down, ordered a beer and got a menu. After 30 minutes nobody had come to take the order or seemed even interested while the place was almost empty (and we were really hungry!). We showed the prices for the beers that were stated on the menu and she let us go. I cannot believe they only paid us attention after we left and they accused us of not paying enough! Loved our visit to this vibey cafe. Great place to meet fellow travelers. The owner Tim was so helpful with local tips and places to go/not go/hike. The hangover meal was perfect for post night bus needs. The mango juice was also great. They had a massive selection of books you could borrow or rent & Nat Geo magazines. A great place for breakfast. It's always warm, perfect for the cold winds in the morning. The variety is great; don't expect corn and cheese like more local cafes; it's more on the American style. The waffles and pancakes are yummy. I usually get breakfast 5 because it gives me the most to kick-start the day.

We came here a couple times. It's a long wait before you get your food but everything we've gotten here has been delicious. The coffee is really good. I ordered ramen for lunch and it was one of the best ramens I've ever eaten. They have comfortable couches, lots of books, board games, puzzles, and national geographic and cooking magazines. Definitely the best pizza I’ve had in 5+ weeks in Peru, and absolutely better than a majority of pizzas I’ve had in Chicago and elsewhere in the US. I will return. Very reasonably priced pizza and they have great combo deals which work out brilliantly. We ended up being able to barter the deals into different flavour pizza's and despite the deal being to take away, the restaurant was incredibly flexible with us. Amazing and comfortable buses. We had bus from Lima to Huaraz and back and everything was perfect. Very comfortable seats. I recommend traveling in the night, because you can sleep comfortably and have your days full of adventures!

Bus arrived 2 hours late because the driver couldn't drive, all other buses were bypassing us. At the end we lost another 20 minutes as the driver couldn't find his own terminal and was lost in the small streets nearby. The terminal is far away from the center compared to all other companies. On arrival you will be swarmed by greedy taxi vultures who will ask 4x the fair price. I had to walk a couple of streets away to get a normal deal.

Nice terminal and service. Buses leave on time. It’s definitely the best bus company of the country.

First time we arrived more than 2 hours later to destination then promised. The driver stoped at random places, stand there 20 Min, but we were not allowed to leave the bus. The buses are comfortable. The toilet is ok.

Took the night bus from Lima to Huaraz, and back from Huaraz to Lima. Great bus, super comfortable, leaves on time (arrival time probably depends on road conditions - we were early back to Lima but almost 2 hours late getting to Huaraz). Everything regarding the “shitty” road up to here has been set, but the two sites are quite interesting and an important element to understand pre-Inca history in the Huaraz region. Distance between the two sites is 10 min and the staff is friendly and supportive. From the second site you can walk down to Huaraz along small water canals…beware the strolling dogs though

I visited Manka three times during my stay in Huaraz as the food is really delicious and the service is good. Overall I would say my visits for dinner were better as you are served a complimentary hot garlic bread role and the quality of the food was better. When I visited for lunch my pasta was lukewarm at best. I would highly recommend the lasagne and the carne ravioli The WiFi is fast!

I ordered the dal makhani on the menu del dia and veggie pakora. The pakora was very yummy and the right texture, so crunchy. The chapati and lemonade that comes with the menu del dia was good as well. The price was right and the portions were great for the menu del dia being 18 soles, but the dal was average tasting and could have been creamier. I would recommend if you’re looking for a place with a lot of vegetarian options. PS gave me stomach issues.

We live in London so are spoilt for choice for good Indian restaurants usually. We did not have high expectations for Indian food in Peru but we were very pleasantly surprised. The portions are generous. We reccomend the pakoras and chapatis. They were very good. We had three curries, one was good and the other two were not bad. All had a good level of spice, which we were pleased about because not much of the food in Huraz is spicy.

Hands down, Ancestral gave me the best meal of my entire time in Peru. I tried cuy for the second time here and I will say it's absolute perfection. First time I tried cuy was in Cusco and my first impression wasn't that great. Thankfully, my friend brought me here and insisted that I try it again. And I'm so glad I did. It was flavorful, crispy and juicy. It's been over a month since I had it and I still dream about it. Another part worth mentioning are the cocktails. Their cocktail menu is very creative and so, so good! And I greatly appreciate how the bartender made a point to visit our table and explain her creative vision of some of her creations. Though I will say the wait for your cocktail is long but it's well worth the wait.

I ordered a steak and it was honestly the worst I’ve ever been served. Terrible cut, poorly cooked—like a child made it. I couldn’t even eat it and told the server right away. This was the first restaurant I have ever been to that not only didn't know what gluten was, but even after explaining my allergies and mentioning wheat flour, the waiter ended up bringing me a full plate of fried stuff. It started with me showing them a picture of their ceviche which seemed to have a fried thing in there, for which I asked if they can do it without frying since I am allergic to glute, the waiter reassured me it’s not fried it’s chicharron, so I said in that case yes I want that. She then proceeds to bring out the most expensive plate on the menu (not ceviche) which was fried with wheat flour, she try to say no no it has no gluten, I asked them what did they fry it in and she did say flour, but she didn’t seem to care, she just left the table. Had to leave without eating other than the corn they gave before, in the end they even gave me back less money (2 soles) than it was together the most expensive meal (which I never ordered) and the drink. A little more expensive than a collectivo but the return is planned. We took the ride at 9:00am so you don’t need to wake really early. There’s a ride back at 2pm - 3pm and 4:30pm. Churrup is really nice it’s not too hard but take the optional route up if you don’t want to climb really steep portion. Elevation definitely makes it harder.

It was easy to find, effective and reliable. A bus is leaving every hour. At the trail, a bus departure at 2pm, 3pm, 4pm and the last one at 4:30pm. It was 40 sol for 2 people, round trip. We went to Huaraz in order to do the Santa Cruz Trek. As we were not too experienced in doing hikes on this altitude and over several days- we found the perfect tour operator with Akilpo. Akilpo did a super detailed introduction with us into the characteristics of the trek and how we can prepare us in the best way to get used to the high altitude of the Cordillera Blanca. The Trek was super well organized and professional with a donkey driver, a cook and Luis, our guide. Luis guided us very well over the four days even if we had though weather conditions. The whole team of Akilpo is very obliging, kind and accommodating- you can really feel that they love their jobs. Apart from that, we stayed three nights in Akilpo Home and also had a great experience: super clean and well equipped rooms and the breakfast was also very delicious. All in all, the slightly higher price compared to other tour operators in Huaraz, is definitely worth it and we would always do it again with Akilpo. So thank you very much to the whole Akilpo Team for the pleasant experience and hospitality.

Wonderful experience! The food was great (we had the pasta dishes) and the hosts couldn’t have been more accommodating. They gave us binoculars so we could enjoy the amazing views and also gave us a book to show some of the best hikes in the area. Brilliant lunch - highly recommend.

Super overrated ossobuco given the price (relative to what Huaraz has to offer). A lot of it was fat and the beef itself was bland. The sauce was nothing special. For the same price Salme’s ossobuco with ravioli is much more noteworthy in presentation and taste (fat free and tender).

Overall, I had a decent experience here. We sat upstairs, which was nice, but the service was a bit slow since the waiter didn’t come around often and there was no way to call him when we needed something. The food was good, though nothing that really stood out, the polenta was fine but not amazing. What did disappoint me a little was that the pictures in the reviews don’t match the current menu. Some of those dishes just aren’t available anymore, so it was a letdown when I couldn’t order what I had seen online.

Nice crisp potatoes. The soup was really unique, a delicious creamy pumpkin broth with a huge hunk of rib braised rib meat, some veggies, and pesto on top. The meat was flavorful and nice and tender but a bit fussy to eat as one big chunk with the bones still in it. The bowl many not look big but it was deep and a huge portion, served with a kind of dry grilled cheese that was nice for mopping up. We were seated immediately but it took around an hour to get our food but it was worth it. They take credit card.

You must try the Quinotto (it's like a Risotto from Quinoa). You can have it as a vegetarian option or with meat - we tried both. We also had the Beterraga Carpacio (red beet) as a starter and it was wonderful as well. Prices are also very fair considering it's in a quiet touristy place. The service was friendly and very attentive. The atmosphere of the restaurant is rather basic, but this does not tale away from the amazing food. And you can pay with credit card without an extra fee, which is great as well.

The waitress actually roll eyes to me when I wanted to ask something about the menu.. If you know what's good for you don't go to this place!

We came here some times during our holiday, as we stayed in the nearby B&B La casa de Maruja. It offers large portions and savory dishes, considering that it is quite cheap. They are quite fast. The variety is not huge, most dishes consist of chicken with some sides, but for an evening every now and then it’s perfect. They make good pisco sour (and other cocktails) as well.

This is the best restaurant in Huaraz without a doubt. The menu is interesting and varied. The food is fresh and delicious - we loved the butter served with the bread. The wait staff are knowledgeable and it’s nice to watch the chefs at work in the kitchen. There was a good wine selection and the glass of Malbec I had was delicious.

We live in London and are spoiled with one of the best restaurant scenes in the world. But oh boy, Anden Verde is amazing! Excellent dishes. And for the quality, a very fair price. Worth the walk from the standard tourist strip of Huaraz.

First time there, we waited for 30 minutes for a glass of wine to be served, an hour for main course. They had no enough water in inventory. So we had a bottle of water and could not order the second one. Anyway, let's talk about their food.. The ingredients and its quality are outstanding. Everything there is exceptionally delicious that I had to come back for a second time. I would recommend that they consider hiring a restaurant manager to oversee their operations because this could be easily be the best restaurant in town with standard like in Lima.

Some of the best food I had in Peru. We stumbled across this restaurant by chance and ended up eating there 3 times during our 6 day stay in Huaraz (and it would’ve been more had we not spent 2 nights on the mountain). The service was excellent (seems to be inconsistent when reading the reviews, but for us it was flawless). One night we got there too early but were starving and had an appointment to attend later that night. They opened up half an hour early just for us and it made our night! But above all… the food! The team that works in the kitchen here has elaborated a bold, innovative fusion menu and it’s not only the best food I had in Peru, but it’s up there with the best food I’ve ever had, period. I HIGHLY recommend you go out of your way to try this restaurant if you’re not travelling on a tight budget (the prices are on the higher end, which is totally normal and expected for the level of quality of the establishment).

A little disappointing, the chicken a little dry but with the sauce, it was good, they had no to go box,.that was really astonishing, for a place is good not to have to go box amazing. Two more thing I'm going to say is negative, is the environment, feel like you in a run down spot, like they bought a failing bakery or small restaurant, and made it look like a ex fancy place that they owner never was there because he had other things to do.
