Barreado

5.0
(2)
Barreado is a traditional Brazilian dish that originates from the coastal state of Paraná. It is a slow-cooked meat stew that is seasoned with various spices and cooked for hours until the meat becomes tender and flavorful. The dish is typically made with beef, but sometimes includes pork as well. The unique aspect of Barreado is the cooking method, which involves sealing the pot with a clay or flour paste to create pressure and allow the flavors to meld together.

Capela São Benedito

Catholic church
Nestled in the charming town of Morretes, the Igreja de São Benedito stands as a testament to history and faith. Founded in 1760 by the Brotherhood of São Benedito, this church welcomes all who profess Roman Catholicism, regardless of age or background. It serves as a beautiful tribute to Saint Benedict every December 25th. As you approach Morretes via the scenic Graciosa-PR mountains, you'll be greeted by stunning views that enhance your experience.

Junior A — Google review
(Translated by Google) In 1760, the Brotherhood of São Benedito was founded in Morretes, bringing together, as stated in its statutes, “blacks, slaves and administrators and free people who, through their devotions, want to belong to it without distinction of sex or age, as long as they profess the Roman Catholic religion , with the aim of making an annual tribute to the Glorious Saint Benedict on the 25th of December”. Although almost all of the brotherhood's documentation was lost in a flood in the 1960s, the books that survived allow us to trace its history from the year 1860 onwards. Between 1865 and 1895, the chapel and cemetery were built, works carried out with enormous difficulty due to the region being in a period of economic decline. Its architecture is made up of the simplest building scheme in religious tradition: nave, bell tower and chancel. The construction is made of mixed masonry, stone and brick, with a gable roof and a gabled roof. Internally, the greatest interest is in the main altar, with a group of images from different eras, with the patron saint São Benedito standing out among them all.

I had barreado here for the first time ever - as a non-Brazilian - and it was so delicious! Tasty and filling and served with a variety of side dishes and even fried fish. A waiter demonstrated how to mix the stew on your plate. The staff were super friendly. The women's restroom was extremely clean and had a spacious changing area for babies. There were also signs in the bathroom advising women that they could talk to staff (using a code phrase) if they felt unsafe with their dinner companion. What a lovely effort to make women feel safer! I had a great time during my stay and will definitely recommend this place to other travelers.

The Pico do Sete, visible from the PR-410 highway (Estrada da Graciosa) under clear weather conditions, offers a picturesque and striking landscape. This medium-difficulty trail presents a challenging terrain with muddy paths and dense vegetation. It is recommended for anyone looking to embark on an adventure amidst nature's beauty. The temperature is pleasant, allowing hikers to enjoy the surroundings comfortably.
(Translated by Google) We went up at dawn to catch the sunrise, but with the smoke screen that we are in this month of September, it doesn't hurt to see the sunrise. We only saw it after some time when it was already higher in the sky. But I recommend this Morro anyway. Beautiful place, breathtaking landscape.

(Translated by Google) Incredible view, also known as Morro do 7, in the group we were in there were people who did it in 2:45 but there were also people who took 4:20 to climb. The trail gets closer to chest height at times and wear appropriate footwear as it is A LOT of mud.

(Translated by Google) Wonderful!!! Incredible view, you can see Marumbi, Paraná peak, Paranaguá Bay and the devil's throat.... Almost 5 hours of trail just to go, to return another 5....very humid and closed.... (Original) Maravilhoso!!!

(Translated by Google) Intermediate level trail, beautiful views along the way, shame that when we went it was closed. It has steep sections, clay only in isolated points and it is possible to get around it.

(Translated by Google) Trail of medium difficulty from the beginning to the 7th was 2:45 with few stops the weather was very good both the temperature and the view but a lot of mud and very closed trail I recommend it to everyone Anyone traveling along the PR-410 highway (Estrada da Graciosa) will see Morro do Sete if the weather is clear. It's a beautiful landscape.

(Translated by Google) Morro do Sete is located in Serra da Farinha Seca, on Estrada da Graciosa, Paraná. It is called that because of a crack it has in the shape of a 7. To reach its summit you need to walk for about 4 hours, a heavy and very closed trail. To get there you must first pass the summit of Morro Mãe Catira. Only go if you are in good physical shape. Wear pants, a long-sleeved t-shirt and closed shoes, preferably boots.
