Outdoor Activities
Spiaggia di Cala Cipolla, also known as Cala Cipolla beach, is a hidden gem nestled in the picturesque Chia Bay in southern Sardinia. This unspoiled swimming beach boasts a stunning backdrop of large rocks and shrub-covered dunes. The 150-meter stretch of fine white sand is surrounded by dense Mediterranean vegetation, including pine and juniper trees that provide shelter from the sun's rays.
Beautiful beach! Clear water, nice sand. If you go a little bit further from the wntrancentrance you will find rocky part of the beach. Perfect for snorkeling and watching underwater life. Nearby you will find convenient parking lot.
Michalina P — Google review
Beautiful bay. Lovely white/yellow sand, just behind the pine trees, not too crowded. Always a spot available, even in peak season. No restrooms or bar. Sunbeds for rent. Beautiful surroundings. The beach is an 5-7 minute walk from the parking lot.
John A — Google review
Beautiful beach. Parking price 8€ When you leave the parking lot, you have to go straight and walk for about 10 minutes to get to the beach. The water is very blue. Be careful, it gets crowded quickly. To the right of the beach, there is a pool with rocks where you can watch the fish.
Maltravel_fly — Google review
Picturesque beach with nice rocky landscape. No shower or toilet, no cafe, but packing nearby for 7 eur.
Iryna K — Google review
Cosy beach with nice diving and sightseeing spots around. The nearby kiosk has everything, from great coffee to affordable sunbeds.
Michał B — Google review
nice beach with nice view if you climb the rocks. the waves were relatively strong in April. However, you can still swim reasonably well.
Dominik — Google review
A nice little bay, crystal clear water, sandy beach and there are some shady places as well. It is worth climbing the hills surrounding the bay because there is a wonderful view of the sea.

Low-key lido with umbrellas, DJ music & a bar, set on a sandy expanse backed by rolling dunes.
First class beach if you like finest sand. Wide open. Natural. Locals. Splendid water.

A good beach club with food, drinks, music and boat rentals. Nice selection of sandwiches (you can press), piadina and bowls. A great spot on the beach with parking a few minutes walking distance. We paid 60€ for four beds and an umbrella. It’s too bad they don’t have showers or bathrooms .. in terms of the beach; beautiful, clean, green-ish water since it’s a sandy beach.
Nadia S — Google review
Great clean water and a sandy beach. However nothing special! Access: you need to drive and park at the car park (the car Park is 7 euros per day)and walk 5 min to reach the seaside. The walking route is fine for adults but not suitable for pushchairs with babies. Umbrella with 2 beds in the front row 50 euros. The bar is only good for snacks and drinks (no proper food here). And if you need the toilet, that's too bad. You need to walk to the car park and use Portalloo (not great) To sum it up: The place is not ideal for me and I think not ideal for anyone with small babies. And for people who want everything nearby (drink hotels etc), this is not a great place and you are wasting your time and money.
Ismet S — Google review
30 euro for two sun beds not on the first row(40 euros for the front row) in the first week of September. Beautiful clean water, not deep, with white sand beach. 6 euro a day parking very close by. Bar okay, food and drinks a bit expensive.
Angela B — Google review
Stunning location, very beautiful setting. Too bad that by 2 p.m. in June, half the menu was already unavailable, and instead of apologizing, they responded rudely. This is what happens when you live off the reputation of a paradise.
DAVID M — Google review
One day a week, currently on Saturday, there is an aperitif with music and a DJ, it is not much ... But given the little or nonexistent nightlife in the area we must applaud. For the rest everything is impeccable, the sea in front is the clearest in the whole area.

Campana Dune Beach is a renowned destination with its fine white sand and clear waters. The beach offers various amenities such as boardwalks, snack bars, parasols, and sunbed rentals. Visitors can enjoy the gentle slope of the central Campana Beach into the clear water, while also having access to bars offering sunbeds, windsurfing, and kayak rentals. Su Giudeu to the west boasts wide soft sands and bar concessions lost in its vast expanse.
Great place. Not so crowded as the other beaches arround. Very close to it are some small, secluded beaches with cristal clear water.

Beautiful beach. Clean water. Easy access from parking. Shallow water is good for kids. WC available at parking.
Leonid K — Google review
In fact there are 3 beaches here, separated by a small promontory, which creates the Chia beach region. Though popular with locals and tourists alike, these white sand, crystal clear waters beaches are a jewel in the area. It is common for the locals to spend all day here, especially on Sundays. They usually bring their meal, but you don't need to as the beaches are well equipped with facilities like bars, food outlets at very reasonable prices (I've seen Panini with chicken cutlet for €6 and beer for €3), and hot showers for 50 cents. I paid €5 for all day parking, which is a good price and also a short walk from the beach. If you're looking for a great dinner, check out my review of "Mirage" restaurant, a mouth-watering dining experience in the neighborhood.
Luca D — Google review
Crystal sea and really clean beach. 6 out of 10 for parking, you need to be lucky or ready to walk a bit(normal) There's a small shop for sandwiches and ice cream. Natural shade available!

Cala del Morto, also known as "Sa Spiaggedda," earned the name "The Bay of the Dead Man" after a tragic event in the 1950s. Despite its somber history, this beach is considered one of Chia's treasures. Accessible via a 10-minute rocky path behind Monte Cogoni's hill, it boasts fine golden sand and stunning pink granite rocks surrounded by fragrant Mediterranean pines and junipers.
Even on a partial cloudy day it's very beautiful and the water was clear. Just a short hike from the surrounding beaches but definitely worth it. Not many people. There were quite some waves when I came, so can't tell if it's a good spot to do snorkeling
Erik G — Google review
It's a small hidden gem, exactly as seen in pictures (no edits) and we had a great time here. There's different fish to look at if you have goggles and the underwater rocks grow some interesting algae. If you pay attention you'll find crabs climbing around the place but not really in the water. Overall nice, peaceful experience. Just keep in mind that this is a free "unofficial" mini beach in the sense that there's no human-built facilities nor lifeguards so be careful and watch your kids at all times since you don't know when currents can pick up
Francesca M — Google review
Hidden beach with pristine sand reacheable through a narrow path through the shrubberies from the main beach. The bay is getting eaten by the sea over the years and it is probably bound to disappear in the future. In the meantine, It is a magical place

Where to eat

Under a 4-minute walk from Campana Dune Beach, here are a few close by recommendations for when you get hungry exploring around.

Le Dune

4.0
(108)
Restaurant
Nestled along the stunning coastline, Le Dune stands out in Forte Village's extensive dining scene thanks to the culinary expertise of Cagliari-born chef Andrea Putzu. He artfully showcases regional flavors while catering to an international audience, emphasizing high-quality produce and unique ingredients. Guests can indulge in a delightful array of dishes, including a fish soup inspired by gazpacho and thick pappa al pomodoro made with local Pulas tomatoes.
4.5 rounded (5/5 food, 4.5/5 service, 4.5/5 atmosphere) came for lunch and was pleasantly surprised. Food was great and filling. Ingredients were fresh and a good selection (did not get wine). It was a little frenetic once inside but there were a lot of people and kids everywhere. Dj set played decent tracka. Overall had a goos time
Piet C — Google review
Today’s visit was a very bad experience. I recommend to avoid this place. 60 min of waiting, than I just left Fresh salad came with completely dried out cucombers - I bet this was a collection from the other days morning Everybody else around was being served - many Times the same dish we ordered No apology, nothing I called the waiter 2 times before I decided to leave Pizza they serve fast, At least kids ate something
Ondrej Z — Google review
*Dont* go here outside season We were just charged 36 + 32 EUR for two primi (lunch). They had no written menu. We had to send one back as it was so salty that it was impossible to eat. Replacement dish arrived after I had finished eating. It was suppossed to be oil and garlic, but there was no garlic. Both dishes looked like they had not been cooked by a professional. The price was unfair, and neither cooking nor restaurant was good. Hotel Chia Laguna should do better!
Tim L — Google review
Beautiful venue , but one of the staff members named “ Manu” was very rude with my family and couldn’t even bordered to apologise. The manager came and apologised on his behalf but “Manu” refused to apologise. Very disappointed.
Hugo C — Google review
Best restaurant in the area. The service is top notch (thank you Michele for your wonderful suggestions) and the food was just delicious. Mix of Sardinian specialties with a spin and perfect execution. We will definitely come back and recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting the area. Price-quality is high but don't expect a cheap eat.
Kimberly C — Google review
Raw prawn pasta was one of the best pastas I ever had. Service was great and drinks were cold. Can you ask for more?
Mateusz N — Google review
Price quality completely not worth it. Service friendly and professional, but food taste and vegetarian options(fish and seafood do not count as vegetarian) really disappointing. Not recommended.
Alina G — Google review
Food was good, but one of the waiters was super judgemental just because we showed up in beachwear (COMING FROM THE BEACH, OBVIOUSLY) and not in branded shirts and a Maserati. After having eaten and paid this man didn't want to let us use the bathroom without prior consultation of his superior. Rude an outdated behavior you usually don't see in Sardegna! Sorry but go find another job if you can't treat EVERY guest well.

Day 2

Northeast side of town
For day 2, we recommend exploring the northeast side side of town. Start the day off with Sa Colonia Beach, then wind down and take it easy by the time you get to Spiaggia di Monte Cogoni. All together, your day would be filled with about 6 hours of non-stop fun.

Sa Colonia Beach

Beach
Sa Colonia Beach is a large expanse of white sand nestled between two picturesque promontories, offering stunning views of the emerald waters of the Sardinian Sea. The shallow and clear turquoise waters make it an ideal spot for families with children. Visitors can also explore an Aragones watchtower on one of the promontories for panoramic vistas of the beach.
For those who go by bus, get off at the Chia Tabacchi bar stop and after that the beach is not far on foot. Enjoyment is right, there is no mistake. They also have a large parking for those who come by car.
Dusan M — Google review
Such a beautiful beach but also convenient, the parking lot is literally on the beach. I admit that I avoid coming here in the peak months because it does get crowded. Very crowded. However, avoiding it, you have the beach and the view of Spanish tower all to yourself, and walk on the sand without any disturbance (like the photo and video)
Ayaka — Google review
One of the best beaches with a bit a view. Parking is 8€ for a whole day, 0,50 cent to use a bathroom
Stas P — Google review
Paradise! There is parking place near the beach that cost 8 euro a day and toilet with shower at the parking space. Beach is just stunning with beautiful sand and crystal clear sea. There is a lot of free place. Not really crowded. There is also a beach bar (stabilimento). 2 beds and umbrellone costs 50 euro. Everything in stabilimento looks organised. Recommended!
Ljiljana K — Google review
The parking next to Luna supermarket is free. From there you need to walk around 10 minutes to the beach. The beach is nice, not too crowded and there were nice waves to play in. It was quite windy and many umbrellas were praying for their lives.
Ada C — Google review
Awesome golden fine sand descends slowly into the blue sea. Great for families, the water temperature feels higher than on other steeper beaches. Parking costs 8€ per day you can only book full days. Cheaper prices if you arrive after 16:00/4 pm
David — Google review
The best part of my entire trip to the south of Italy!!! What a beauty this beach is!!!! The water is SPECTACULAR!!!! Lovely and calm too! The beach has beautiful, soft sand. Here is some practical info 1. Getting there - there are several busses from the central bus depot that go every hour. Remember there are buses only every hour so if you miss it, you have to wait long time! The ticket is about 3.50 euro from Cagliari. Bus timings are available on the movit app. Or google maps 2. If you want to drive there isnis possible to rent a car or a taxi. There is a large parking area 3. There is no food on the beach. Only drinks. You can carry your own food or eat just a little before the beach where there is a lovely little restaurant. 4. There are toilets and changing rooms in the parking lot which are very clean. Even the drink kiosks have toilets and changing rooms which are super nice. 5. To return, the buses stop quite early in the evening so pls check the timings. Alternatively you can book a taxi from Cagliari to take you back I really liked this chilled out beach. It was touristy but not in a loud or expensive way. There was a relaxed homely vibe to it which i loves It’s great for kids too as there is plenty of space and it’s very safe. There are small places for children to play too If you are a big group there are nets for volleyball You can rent beach umbrellas here and beds. I don’t know what they cost because I didn’t use them!! Don’t have second thoughts! Go to this beach!

The ground is very rough and the sea doesn't look too clear. Exellent to swim. In a matter of 10 foot in the water gets so deep, you can't reach the bottom with your feet. I'll not be back

Cute bar for coffee and ice cream. The beach is fine but a lot of sea grass. We were in June, it was a bit windy and lots of rocks inside, so sea shoes are advised. The sea was not so clear but the visibility was cca 1.5 metres so you can snorkel a bit and see some fish and octopuses, yet not a lot.

What a gem of a beach close to Cagliari. I have to say that pictures fade to describe how beautiful and pristine the place is. Honestly I don’t understand the comments that the place is not great because I loved it. Very accessible by bus for the ones that don’t drive. If you’re in Cagliari don’t miss it!

The atmosphere is serene and inviting, making it a perfect spot to unwind while savoring delectable dishes like their renowned spaghetti allo scoglio, brimming with local seafood delights.
Best restaurants I've been in a very long time, food was out of this world and the setting and atmosphere is so peaceful, really beautiful place with top class fresh fish and seafood. Can easily compete with the best restaurants in Sardinia. Anyone in these reviews who says otherwise simply doesn't understand how fresh fish is priced per grams in restaurants, and expect to pay 5 euros for a whole fish when the price is per grams :)

42 Euro would be ok but 84.5 Euro are too much: Atmosphere + service are good. The challenge was the gram count of the plate with mixed grilled fish.. 49 Euro for 750 grams for one person was not indicated on the menu. We expected 200 to 300 grams and will clarify next time to be sure. In addition, the 49 Euro only comprise only the fish without any any side dish for one person. In addition the salomon pasta (15 Euro) as well as the caprese (12 Euro) were good. The price was quite high for us but ok. Now let us play the perfection game: Substract one star for every challenging point, which we like to play in northern Europe to improve service quality: 1) Improve transparency about how many grams of fish will be served, if the price depends on the gram. My wife ordered a plate with mixed grilled fish and expected a normal portion for one person. Instead, she got beside a whole fish another small fish as well as a prawn with no side dish. 2) Make clear wish fish will be served on the mixed fish plate 3) Offer a combination of fish + side dish, which is typical innmany countries As I pointed out, the experience was overall good but the price could be more human, if the portions of grilled fish are adjusted to a normal level (/gram count) and the potentially served portion level (grams) is indicated on the menu. Thanks a lot for the service answer atmosphere.

We stopped by for an impromptu lunch as we were passing. Carlo provided excellent service & spoke great English. The food was excellent, he made some great recommendations. I see some negative reviews on here but they are from a long time ago & we would highly recommend.

A hidden gem. The food was absolutely delicious.. possibly our favourite in Sardinia! Seafood spaghetti in particular was spectacular. There weren't many other customers at 7:30 so we had the beautiful garden nearly all to ourselves. Lovely cool garden seating. Friendly server spoke English. Highly recommended for really good seafood!

This restaurant is a total recommendation for everyone staying in Chia who loves delicious food, especially well prepared seafood. We had a perfect evening with awesome food, drinks and the service is more than friendly. And if it’s of importance, the value for price ratio is also very good. Five stars well deserved!

In other places I would have rated lower but in this area you don’t have many choices. So the staff where helpful. Menu typical Sardinian. They have a pizza oven which is great. Interior out of date. Inside but open walls. Parking in street. WC. Wheelchair friendly. Fairly priced menu.

We passed by this place and ate the following (pls see the pics + bread but i will come to the bread at the end). Before we ordered our food, we asked if there is grilled fish, lady informed us that there is no grilled one piece fish but they have grilled sea platter, 100 gram costs 5 euros. Waitress informed us about that fish and some kind of mixture of sea animals are part of this 100gr/ 5 euro option. I asked if they can only mix the fish they have, and clearly stated 300-400 grams, depending on what they have. When the food arrived, waitress apologized and told me that “this is 500 grams sorry”, i said no problem and that was it. That fish you see is cooked with a lot of salt, obviously a speciality here. I myself dont mind the salty fish but it was almost inedible, just too much salt, cannot be removed from the meat of the fish (was terrible) also, i could not understand why she chose a weight of ~500 grams, single fish… was not this supposed to be a platter? She should have ASKED if 500 gram is ok or not! When i was trying to order, i was told that one piece grilled fish (grilled fish options in the menu) were not available, and that is why she suggested and we ordered 300-400 grams mixed fish which turned out to be 500 grams salted one piece sea bass. Once the food was finished we asked the lady if she can bring the tiramisu we ordered but she said she forgot (it looked like she was playing a game with her phone :) which is not a problem and immediately brought it. She asked then how the food was. When we told her that the food was salty, she informed us via translator that this is a normal cooking for this region (or this particular order/ fish). I wish we knew about this salt thing… I think as a tourist, i would not go there because we had the feeling that we were given what we clearly did NOT (not half a kg fish) order. There are two cute dogs there though. Thus, too expensive and bad feelings. We now read the comments of the owner, we had just another surprise. Decide yourself. Regarding the bread thing, look at the reciept, we paid 54 euro and when we were first seated, we were given a basket of bread, just bread. For a 55 euro total bill, would not it be feasible to serve your customers just anything with that bread? A couple of tomato or whatever is locally available and cheap, i even had to ask for olive oil such that i can make the bread softer. Overall, just too expensive for this quality. A note to the owner: we recommend you do not attack us as it was the case for some other customers. I hope what we write will really be heard… thanks.

I was reading the feedbacks and I should say - if you are coming in the high season in Sardegna, you should really think that its tough for locals to cope with the flow. BUT - they do their best all the time. And trust me - I saw a lot, and way I was treated as coming alone, foreigner, on Sunday off the season - it’s 5 or 6 stars. Great food - I took spaghetti allo scoglio(where there were at least 5-6 types of locals creature :) and then I said - hmmm, want smth to eat but really not over eat. And Andrea was thinking and brought me best mix of seafood. Appreciated. Please don’t complain that you have to wait. It’s not London, Manchester, or Manhattan… it’s THE ISLAND with beautiful beaches. And people who host us. Best they can, coping with seasons inflow. Respect locals! Supper them and you get best out of sea, land and people.
